The year is 1980.
And the sequence of events leading up to 1985 was drastic for the video game industry.
Ladies and gentlemen, when I tell you, the video game industry went from $3.2 billion with a B
to $100 million due to the crash, right?
video game industry was in shampals.
The reason I call Mario the greatest video game character ever created is because there was a
specific title that was released titled Super Mario Bros in 1985 on the Nintendo Entertainment
System.
By the end of that year, Nintendo sold 6.5.
1 million units largely driven by the success of Super Mario Bros.
Went on to become one of the more successful video game franchise of all time
and ultimately turned around the entire video game industry for the simple fact that
everybody seen that the video game industry could produce high quality
but also innovative, but more importantly,
immersively enjoyable.
Because if you don't know,
Super Mario was the first to do a lot of things.
I mean, when it comes to leveling up,
when it comes to power-ups,
when it comes to scrolling levels,
all of this seems normal now, right?
Marvel, not Marvel, my fault,
we was just talking about Marvel rivals.
Mario is the greatest video game character
of all time for the development that happened via Nintendo that ended up influencing the gaming industry
to the point where now we recognize that Super Mario Bros. had sold over 40 million copies
as far as back when it released in 1985, up to 1996, making it one of the best selling
video games of all time. And it instilled the trust.
back into video games as far as from a consumer standpoint.
Because a lot of people lost hope that video games was just a lost cause.
And if you play video games, you was just lazy and never was going to amount to anything
because you're wasting your time because all of these are low quality products.
But when Mario came out, it enlightened the public that video games can actually be
mentally stimulating and also enjoyable as far as a problem solving aspect.
Now, of course, today is not just about Mario, but I had to give a crash course as far as why I put so much respect on Mario's name because if you don't know, analytic dreams, oh, my fault, I'll press my drop, analytic dreams video on Spotify. I see the video along with the audio because basically there's a reason why Mario is right next to Notorious BiG on my banner that I created. Basically, I put together.
what I believe is the most impactful gaming characters of all time and of course hip hop musicians
of all time. With that being said, Mario ultimately, in my opinion, is the most popular
and the most influential video game character of all time. Now I want to beat the dead horse,
but I just want you all to know how much respect I have for Mario as far as just revealing a creation
that ended up saving an entire video game industry.
So anyways, let's get into the reason that we're even talking about Mario, right?
Super Mario Party, Jamboree, was just released not too long ago.
And essentially, with this game coming out exclusively on the Nintendo Switch,
because Lord knows if there's one mascot for a platform that's been carrying it,
like the 2016 LeBron James for the Cavaliers, it's Mario for Nintendo.
Nintendo.
Nintendo.
That's funny.
Is that the female version?
No, it's funny.
My fault.
For Nintendo.
Now, of course, Zelda fans may get a little upset up that, at that, you know, rightfully
so.
I do believe Zelda is the robin to Mario's Batman as far as holding the Nintendo
up to a certain stature as far as in the video game industry.
But nonetheless, Mario is the Beyonce of the group when it comes to Nintendo's IP.
and they will have the exclusive rights to Mario to the day that brand goes under.
And hopefully that never happens.
But, you know, just putting it in perspective.
So anyways, exclusively on the Nintendo Switch is where you can play this game, right?
It's developed by Nintendo Cube, formerly ND Cube, known for Mario Party since 2012.
And it always used to work.
They didn't always used to work on Mario Party.
they basically just recently started to work on Mario Party because I believe they picked it up since yeah so they picked it up in 2012 with Mario Party 9 because before that actually I don't know who developed it before but anyways Nintendo Q picked it up in 2012 with the first one end of development being Mario Party 9 so with that being that being said
exclusively on a Nintendo Switch
so you already know when it comes to sales
they're going to be the top dogs and rightfully
so as when Mario drops
everybody else moves out the way
as far as the units and weekly
sales when it first
came out it sold around
73,000 I mean talk about
having first week sales for a video game
right? That's why you should definitely follow
you know hit the bell icon to be notified
when I put out content because
this keeps you up to date with the gaming
and music industry right? So as far as
73,000 first week sales for the Mario Party Jamboree. It did not stop there because it had a 30%
week over week sales surge, which isn't common in other entertainment fields, especially in music.
Usually it goes down a little bit, especially over time. But for Super Mario Party Jamboree,
it was the opposite. So as far as currently, this game is increasing because
They've restocked it a lot as far as sales increasing on a Nintendo platform because, of course,
Mario has a plethora of other games that people are playing as far as Mario and Luigi
Brotherhip, as far as Mario Car 8 Deluxe, as far as Minecraft, as far as Animal Crossing.
There's a lot of games you can play on the Switch that's very, I'm just immensely popular,
has its own cult-like fan base.
Also, as far as Nintendo, when it comes to its combined,
weekly sales a lot of people don't know that they also put up bigger numbers than a playstation
or an xbox because the nintendo switch has been around for a while and obviously people want
the nintendo switch too but why when weekly it's selling at least 80 000 units as far as overall
and the economy right so with that being said the traditional mario party formula is here once again
and jamboree is no different as with over 110 mini-games,
turn-based gameplay and unique board mechanics
basically introduce jamboree buddies for strategic advantages.
And that's the difference between this game and the other Mario parties.
And also, there are new pro rules mode reducing reliance on luck
because I'm not going to lie to you.
As far as watching RDCs,
sea world and the amount of mickeyness that happens when Leland wins, I'm not going to lie to you.
Luck seems to be the only way to win a Mario Party because I was watching a play through of
them playing Jamboree, literally like the game we're covering right now because they always
play Mario Party.
So it was actually the most up-to-date one.
It was playing Jamboree.
Dylan was up by like three, four, five stars, right?
At the end, he had some type of.
role that he had to give like majority of his stars at Leeland and he ended up winning the entire
game because that was the last round and stuff like that that makes you realize that this game
I'm not going to say it's entirely on luck but I mean goodness if you win every mini game and at the
end have to give all your stars to somebody else I mean what else do you call it right so as far as
that you know this game supports up to 20 players and multi player right or eight players
in corop okay so supports multi player up to 20 players
players which is titled cupa what in the world a cupa cupa the lawn a cupa the line a cupa the
line i know they're trying to play off marathon but i ain't going to lie to you that's still
hard to pronounce cupa the line anyways or eight players and cooperative bowser kaboam squad and then of
course the robust of characters is still here as this game has 22 playable characters the
largest roster to date with new additions like ninji and pauline of course pauline from
super mario odyssey that was the one where i think that was the first time ever mario had
his hat able to do a plethora of different things as far as power ups and things like that
like his hat would like basically turned into a boomerang like captain america shield
and it was a very unique addition because who would have thunk to update marieffauts and
Mario to give his hat, Captain America's shield like abilities, right?
It's similar to when Spider-Man, an IP that's been around for forever,
was given the addition of movable eyes.
Obviously, in the animated show, it animated the eyes, well, animate the mask
so you can see the expression in real life, well, in current day, you know,
with the evolution and live action, adding it to the point where it's moving and live action
and it still seems plausible,
I think those are necessary innovations
to keep this longstanding IP relevant, right?
And not relevant in a sense that's going to fall off.
I mean, we're talking about Mario and Spider-Man, right?
But still, in the sense that still upholding creativity
to the highest level to always be adding
to an already iconic character.
So anyways, overall, a lot of people have
been having a little criticism for this video game,
especially compared to other Mario parties,
but they do acknowledge that it's pretty much a solid game.
I mean, it's kind of hard to mess up the Mario Party format, right?
So that's why, in general,
it's been the top-selling game on Nintendo since it came out.
As far as initially when it came out early this month to now,
it's the top by far.
So when it comes to other games,
as far as Dragon Quest 3,
Mario, I mean, if y'all want to know the top five, basically Super Mario Party Jamboree is number one
selling game on the Nintendo Switch platform.
Then you have Dragon Quest 3, Mario Car 8 Deluxe, Minecraft, and then, you guessed it,
Mario again with Mario and Luigi Brotherhood.
It's a reason why we put so much respect on Mario's name, because not only does he uphold
just a video game perception, but he also upholds its, you know, his original developers
with Nintendo.
So what that being said,
it's really not too much else
to get into
because this game is already fantastic.
So we're just going to praise Mario
a little bit more, right?
Because how can you break down
a Mario party game
besides telling people
that it's a lot of online players
that can play at once
and there's multiple mini games
throughout the term-based gameplay
with unique board mechanics, right?
So with that out the way,
going back to ultimately glazing Mario
I'll just play no ditty
that Super Mario 64
is another stand down for Mario because
one of the things about Super Mario 64
is that it sold
11.9 million units worldwide
while am I talking about that
for the simple fact that
Mario went from impacting the video game industry
and saving it literally back in the 1980s
with Super Mario Bros
which for those old enough to remember
it was a 2D game right so when it made the jump to 3D obviously people would be a little skeptical because now
this is not my Mario what is this three-dimensional type of realm that you have Mario in i'm used to like
the pixelated 2d format right then of super mario 64 came out just cementing again that they are
just leaps and bounds ahead of the competition you know how people i mean at this point it's a little
less because Mario comes out so repetitively but as far as the anticipation
built up for GTA 6
that's how Mario was back in the day
because when Super Mario 64
came out it was literally
revolutionary for the 3D space
just like it was for the
2D's
power-ups and the things that
it had as far as gameplay mechanics
so when a 3D came out
and as far as the camera control
analog movement back in that day
it was not it was like nowadays
it's normal because everybody's then copied it
but back in that day it was really innovative
to the point where now you've innovated on a 2D front saving the video game industry came out with a 3D model innovating on camera control analog movement all type of just 3D elements that we've never seen before going from 2D the 3D the game soundtrack being straight classic I mean of course people remember the the bomb on battlefield's song a track off of the soundtrack being one of the more
recognizable tracks ever in video game soundtrack history.
So when I talk about Mario, it's not from a sense of biasness.
It's from an objective standpoint as far as literally saving the video game industry,
as far as it crashing from 1983 to 1985.
And then 1986, Super Mario came out.
And then now people are getting back into video games because they reinstalled confidence
that video games could be high quality
and obviously it's set the stage of quality
because it innovated on so many different levels.
Like, do y'all not know how basic of mechanics
that power-ups are now?
Like, as far as having power-ups,
as far as having just overall leveling up,
it's just so much that the non-linear pathways
that they set,
I mean, as far as,
the game design. All of these
seem simple now because it
literally was innovated
and founded by Super Mario Bros.
Levels, power-ups, non-linear path,
all of that was taken from Super Mario Bros.
And all of that is
thanks to Super Mario Bros. So
yeah, man, Mario's a goat
and now rest my case.
So with that being said, click my link to your in my bio.
Let me know one of my social medias. What do you think about Super
Mario Party? Jamboree.
