Starting point is 00:00:04 Okay, this is my 13th Grammy, which is my lucky number. I don't know if I've ever told you that. I want to say thank you to the members of the Recording Academy for voting this way, but I know that the way that the Recording Academy voted is a direct reflection of the passion of the fans. So I want to say thank you to the fans by telling you a... secret that I've been keeping from you for the last two years, which is that my brand new album comes out April 19th. It's called the Tortured Poets Department. I'm going to go and post the cover right now backstage. Thank you. I love you. Thank you. Well, ladies and gentlemen, and especially the
Starting point is 00:01:05 Swifties, she did way more than post the cover as it is now April 19th. And The tortured Poets Department is officially out on all DSPs for you to listen to. But that is not why I'm covering this album once again, because I've been covering this throughout the whole rollout of her putting out this project. The tortured Poets Department, the anthology. Now, what in the world does that mean? I had to look it up. Hold up.
Starting point is 00:01:38 And by look it up, I mean, in current time, I got to look it up. I just thought about that. anthology a published collection of poems or other pieces of writing boy is this a collection because let me tell you something if you think by the time of this coming out and me giving my overview of the album that i've listened to two hours and two minutes of music then you are absolutely incorrect because let me tell you something 31 songs i don't care who you are chris breezy put out like 40 tracks and i was like bro i can't do it now could put out 40 tracks and I'm gonna pile through it you know what I mean y'all call me a stand all you
Starting point is 00:02:17 want but hey that's just how the cookie crumbles that's just how the cookie crumbles you know what I'm saying don't get mad at me right get mad at Taylor Swift for putting out 31 songs at 11 a.m. on a Thursday so anyways um Taylor Swift released her newest album the torture poet's department but that's not why I'm covering it like I just said um the new the additional 15 tracks is something that came as a a surprise because if you don't know so the album released with 15 tracks i believe 16 i forget and then two hours after 15 additional no because that don't even that don't even do one of them was 16 so the top half i think was 16 and then it was additional 15 tracks that adds up right yeah i guess i can do math you know what i'm saying and so with that being said that's just too much music for me like
Starting point is 00:03:12 I have to listen to other stuff and then come back to this and listen to it and then give my review, which is why I've started to give overviews, which that falls right in line of me, given the Swifties, an overview of the favorite musician's latest album that's out on all DSPs. So if you see the anthology, no, it's not a completely different album. It's just 15 additional tracks on the original Tortured Poets Department. So anyways, of course, one of the biggest collaborators on this album is the one and only Jack, hopefully I could say his name right, Antonoff, I think that's how he said, who obviously has been working with Taylor Swift since her 2014 album 1989 and has been a huge collaborator with her on all her subsequent releases. So as far as contributing to everything, I'm not going to say everything, but as far as contributing to a lot of Taylor Swift's music, Jack Antonoff is the one, as he's helped out a lot. Now, I call myself analytic dreams, so I would be remiss not to go over the numbers as if you thought that the government coming out wasn't enough proof that Taylor Swift has been the most, or has to be remiss.
Starting point is 00:04:36 one of the best runs as a musician in one year regarding 2023 what taylor swift did in 20203 regarding music regarding entertainment in general is on a level that i don't know if we'll ever see again and i'm a drake fan doing a a million first week with your old bodies of work simply because you labeled it Taylor's version, that is different level of support that you are garnering throughout the process. Because if you don't know, Taylor Swift had a humongous beef with Scooter Braun over her royalties and rights. So somehow she got her royalties and rights back. And so she put out her own version. Well, I don't know if she got everything back. She got something back to where she can put out complete replicas of the old tracks and make money off of it going forward.
Starting point is 00:05:45 Hence, while we have Taylor version's albums coming out. So one of them was 1989, of course. The other one was all of these don't say Taylor's version. I'm sorry, I'm not a Swifty, so I don't know all of them. But the other one was red. And then just to name all the albums in order as far as the ones that are currently to this day still, putting up numbers. Taylor Swift's album, Lover, is still 13th most popular album in the world currently. Taylor Swift's 1989, Taylor's version is currently the 16th most popular album in the world.
Starting point is 00:06:26 Taylor Swift's Midnights is 17th most popular album in the world. Taylor's folklore, 25th most popular album in the world. I hope y'all know. If you put out a bunch of albums, the support starts to drop off pretty expeditiously, right? So, or the drop off is just expedited, to put it more like simple terms. So whenever Taylor Swift is putting out these projects and she's getting the same amount of support on every single album to the point where it's still to this day impacting the
Starting point is 00:07:04 charts in a way that you would think it was just dropped yesterday, it's kind of insane. so let's keep going taylor taylor's the 25th most popular album out in the world currently taylor swift's uh reputation is 32nd most popular album in the world then we had taylor swift's red album is the 38th most popular album in the world i hope y'all get a pattern you know it's uh one thing to just completely be like man who listened to taylor swift like i don't like how's she doing this and there's another thing to look at the numbers and see her name plastered everywhere and realize that people come out and droves to support her. Anyways, Taylor Swift, Evermore, is the 44th most popular album in the world. Y'all get it.
Starting point is 00:07:53 I mean, that's the last one. But, yeah, I get the point. So with her new album, Best Believe is going to break all type of records. It's going to have, and it's not even like a hot take. It's like saying the sky is blue. Taylor Swift's going to easily have the biggest first week number of this entire year. Not even close. I mean, what was the last album?
Starting point is 00:08:14 Hold up because that would give me, I know people are going to say, oh, it's an old album, so you can't compare it to that. Well, usually re-releases and remixes don't hit the same as the original. And somehow Taylor Swift has just threw that whole mantra out of the window and is either selling the same or more than the original body of work. so the last one was 1989 so let's try to go off that right
Starting point is 00:08:38 I would go off all of them but let me see it may be kind of hard it may be kind of hard to find all of them oh but one thing I did see that a lot of people kept bringing up is that
Starting point is 00:08:59 she currently only has one track in the top 50 which if your whole album multiple like if like all of your previous five to six albums that you put out last year is on the top like 30 or top 50 when it comes to the most popular albums would you rather have the most popular album in the world as far as in the top 50 or one of the
Starting point is 00:09:21 more popular tracks in the world it's i think it's a no-brainer but anyways it's the track uh cruel summer so out all the albums last year the one that seems well not the one that seems the one that is the most long-lasting track out of all those albums was well it's a is cruel summer, which is still at number 12 on the charts. So yeah. So speak now had 100. Goodness. Speak now had a, uh, that's not right.
Starting point is 00:10:00 And once again, I have like places that like cross reference and fact check it. So I kind of know if I see the right sales because, you know, billboard chart data, certain sites that you can, you know, get memberships to and stuff like that. And the reason I do that is because, you know, of course I cover hip hop, but somebody like Taylor Swift drops is the reason why you don't hear too many hip hop. Or if you don't hear too many announcements of, oh, something's dropping tonight because they're all getting out the way for Taylor Swift. It's the exact same thing hip hop artists do when Drake drops. When Drake drops, you get out the way and just let him have his moment. Or be completely outshine and then now your fan base is looking at you like number two when you could have chose any other weekend to have a number.
Starting point is 00:10:43 number one first week album uh i can't find it they're talking about the uh taylor swift let's do 1989 that's the last one that one came out well last so many albums came out last year i don't even count uh 1989 let me see so there's it said lovers did it Taylor Swift Okay, I found it 1989 did 1.2 million first week sales Taylor Swift reputation that came out the same year
Starting point is 00:11:28 did 1.2 million first week sales We're not even talking about a totality. We're talking first week sales, anticipation, things of that nature. Taylor Swift Red sold 1.2 million
Starting point is 00:11:44 first week sales. These are three albums that were released in year that is why i say that is the biggest most successful run for a single musician ever that we've ever seen like her status of impact is insurmountable when compared to her peers those three numbers i just named is all in the top six of the highest first week sales ever to put in a comparison on how dominant she was last year. Like, I don't think she can replicate that this year. And after all that praise, I just gave Taylor Swift.
Starting point is 00:12:24 Hopefully, I don't think I'm hating. I don't think that she can replicate that this year simply for the fact that you was working off of certain hype as far as you putting out Taylor versions. Now you are back to your unique original body of work. I don't know if people were accepted the same. you already knew they was going to accept it quality-wise last year because it's old tracks that they've already loved. The numbers was the most surprising thing
Starting point is 00:12:55 because it was outselling when it originally came out. Nowadays, when you're putting out something that's new to the fan base, they either switch up on you and say the old stuff is better, or they could love you and say that, you know, Taylor Swift is still on a hot streak, which even with that being the case three albums putting up a million first week sales it's just impossible i'm sorry of like i know it's hard for the swifties to hear i don't care how many tracks you can put on one album it's never going to amount to 1989 reputation and reds combined
Starting point is 00:13:37 first week sales numbers in 2023 the output is just simply impossible to match. Let me just put it like that. So anyways. Oh, also, folklore did like $846,000 first week. Lover did $867,000 first week. And Speak Now did a million first week. All of that was released last year.
Starting point is 00:14:04 Think about that. Like, you know, these numbers that I'm throwing out, I feel like it's like, oh, I mean, a million. That's, no, it's, I don't even know how to quantify. That's how crazy it is. Like all of these albums, well, okay, so from Midnights Up, that's what I was trying.
Starting point is 00:14:22 Okay, so Midnights Up, which is the one I started with. Midnights, where's midnight? What's midnight? What is that called? Oh, she has different versions, the red version and stuff. All right, yeah, these versions are throwing me off. Anyways, y'all, y'all get what I'm saying. Like, to be able to replicate some of these sales is just not,
Starting point is 00:14:47 it's just impossible to match so that's why i say 2023 is the best run for a musician it's arguably the best run for a musician ever in one year but that being said of course the torture poets has people like uh post malone i think he's the only feature if i'm not mistaken on this album no uh florence plus the machine is also on this album so we'll see if she can continue to momentum that she had in 2023, I think it's impossible simply due to the fact that she had
Starting point is 00:15:26 an historic year. I've never seen it. Like literally the U.S. government came out. That may be the last thing because I got to leave you all with this because this was insane. When I saw this, I was all, no, she's on a different level. Like, people talk about Michael Jackson and I'm starting to believe him because this is different.
Starting point is 00:15:43 Like, government just don't come out and be like, oh, this artist is doing you know what I mean? It's like, yeah it is the government just don't come out and give compliments like this I see if I can find it okay there's a lot of other stuff okay let's try to put united I don't know how they would type it though
Starting point is 00:16:22 because you have to type it real specific sometimes I can't find it I remember I had the notion not the notion I had the stat but I can't find it it's so much there's like so much news about like Taylor Swift it's hard to actually find it. Yeah, I want to bore y'all with me trying to find this, this stat. But it was pretty crazy, honestly.
Starting point is 00:17:15 It was one of those where it was like, it's just no way. And then AMC, of course, you already know, came out and talked about how the fourth quarter of the fiscal year was driven by Taylor Swift and Beyonce's documentary sales, like, specifically. So, you know, to go into another medium of entertainment and still boost the market, it's like, okay. at that point like it's really not even
Starting point is 00:17:39 it's not even close yeah they keep talking about an AI bill that's being passed because of Taylor Swift I don't know what they're doing with the AI stuff for Taylor Swift I just know
Starting point is 00:17:49 that it's probably not good if they banning it like this yeah I just saw like they said like Sydney Sweetie's name I was like oh okay I kind of get a glimpse of what of what they're trying to go at
Starting point is 00:18:03 um man that's crazy I was really wanting to say the stat. I mean, I already know the NFL, you know, helped out. I mean, I mean, Taylor Swift helped out the NFL. That's basically it. I can't find it. All right.
Starting point is 00:18:24 So, at the end of day, Taylor Swift still the greatest. As far as music is considered, one of the greatest runs in 2023 ever. And it would go down as arguably the greatest run by single music. in music history. So with that being said, click my link, stream, my bio. Let me know one of my social media is, are you still getting through the album, the anthology,
Starting point is 00:18:54 which is basically the anthology edition of tortured poets? And if you have made it through those two hours and what, two minutes? Yeah, those two hours and two minutes. What is your favorite track?
