Written by John Rzeznik for the City of Angels soundtrack, the Diamond-certified anthem—peaking at #9 Hot 100 originally and holding #1 radio airplay for 18 weeks—has surged with over 5B global streams, fueled by Gen Z nostalgia, TikTok virality, and covers from Taylor Swift, Phoebe Bridgers, and Maggie Rogers.Analytic Dreamz breaks down the 2025 revival: media syncs in Deadpool & Wolverine (2024), Companion and Shrinking Season 2 (2025), Love Island USA trends; the band's first NPR Tiny Desk Concert (November 2025) closing with an intimate acoustic rendition; fresh content like April's lyric video with unseen 1998 footage and October's 4K remaster; plus momentum from the Summer Anthem Tour with Dashboard Confessional and festival performances. This cumulative snowball of algorithmic boosts, global engagement (#1 Indonesia/Philippines), and renewed sincerity has propelled "Iris" to the top, outstreaming band classics by 10x and cementing its status as a perennial rock juggernaut. Privacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Starting point is 00:00:03 Now, first off, I just want to start with the Goo Goo Dolls makes it apparent that I should never hear any critiques about hip hop names ever again. But then, you know what I'm saying? I was like, damn, look at the state of hip hop. Like, what's going on? Now, of course, with that blatant, with that blatant ignorance out of the way, safe to say, Google Dolls are definitely going to be satisfied with this segment. As I'm not talking bad about your artist, I just had to point out how that name is very hilarious. Now with that being said, the main thing is getting into how iconic this group is. As you look at the band's background, it started or they formed in 1986, but that's not why we're talking about them today. When it comes to the music video or the lyric video, I should add, for the specific track
Starting point is 00:00:51 Iris that technically, objectively speaking, is the best performing track analytically of all time. Now of course, I say all the time just because you sell a lot does not mean as great quality and just because you don't sell, does not mean you're making the most abysmal, egregious. Shepherd. All right, y'all get the point, right? The two don't correlate.
Starting point is 00:01:09 So when it comes to the Google Dolls, safe to say, Iris is the best performance track by far. Now, when you look at the lyric video, it's currently the 14th most popular video in general on YouTube. And specifically in music is number one. Well, it's not number one now, but, you know, it was number one. Now it dropped a little bit. But getting into the massive impact,
Starting point is 00:01:31 the lyric video was having very interesting how it's still number one in the philippines which is dominating it's not even close like as far as philippines i think they're known for having a culture of uh karaoke and ballic covers and as far as iris that definitely resonates with that specific culture so it doesn't surprise me that is number one in the philippines but then of course it's number four in indonesia which is very interesting in general but then of course is number 10 in Italy. Now, when you look at the band specifically, they've had a plethora of accomplishment.
Starting point is 00:02:08 So I would be remiss to definitely, I would be remiss to only mention Iris as they were not, they were number nine on Billboard Hot 100 in 1998 and stayed for 11 months. And then of course, it was number one in radio airplay. And it was one of the biggest, I don't know, no, no, there was number one radio airplay for 18 weeks. and it was a record from a group until 2020.
Starting point is 00:02:34 So safe to say, to one of the most popular groups of all time. They had three UK singles in 2011, 70 UK singles March 2025. Yes, this current year. So as far as longevity, safe to say, that's not even a question for the Google dolls.
Starting point is 00:02:49 As you look at the year of 2025 and then you look at when Iris came out. You want to know when Iris came out, ladies and gentlemen? Well, it pulls up the album. But the album came out in 1997. It is 2025 and safe to say Iris is still percolating as far as in people's search bar and algorithms. So longevity is not a question to the point where you're probably wondering, where if I'm an avid Google Dolls fan, how can I see them live?
Starting point is 00:03:18 Like, what are they actually up to in the big year of 2025? I'm glad you asked. As they are going on the summer anthem tour. And when it comes to that tour, it's over. Yeah, my fault. I know. I'm just letting you know that they've been. been on tour right that's the main thing i didn't want y'all to think this is a group that disbanded it
Starting point is 00:03:35 they're still active and kicking as far as july 13th to september 12 um including a bunch of major venues so as far as 2026 i actually don't know what they're going to be up to as far as touring i was assumed they keep their tour momentum as with the track iris still being one of the most popular tracks of all time safe to say that people want to see them live as um their summer anthem tour in 2025, well, this year was very successful. So you look at them a totality, safe to say, with the new visual elements to their music, that is how to stay irrelevant as they're adapting with the times or to the times, and they're putting out musical elements that adds to their musical presence as far as on DSPs.
Starting point is 00:04:20 So now when you look at them going on a summer anthem tour, when you're looking at them as far as the American Idol season finale performance, and seeing that that American Idol performance boosted their songs now to 4.8 global streams. Well, 4.8 billion. Can't forget to be, right? Global streams. And then as far as confirmed R.I.A. singles, they have 10 million in the U.S. alone. So this group is definitely going to be around for quite some time as you look at it in totality.
Starting point is 00:04:56 as far as the members and you have John, I was just trying to figure out how I pronounced this John Resonick I think that's how you said. Robbie Takak, Tukok, pulse, George Tatuska, I try my best, I kid you not.
Starting point is 00:05:14 So those are the three members of the Google Dolls. Hopefully I didn't butcher their names too horrendously. But when it comes to that, they started as a punk influence band and then transitioned into alt-rock slash pop. As somebody who doesn't really dive deep into rock specifically or really punk for that matter, I would be interested to know if they're the best alt rock band of all time. Now, I know for some fans out there, you know, maybe screaming as blasphemy. But for me as an ignorant person who, you know, I do credit, you know, I credit myself to covering the entire music industry.
Starting point is 00:05:49 But if there was one genre that was neglected by this platform, it probably would be rock. I don't get into it a lot. I think Ozzy Osbourne is the artist I get into the most that technically is in that genre. So when it comes to the Google Dolls, this is the first time I've ever covered them and it's for a significant reason as Iris is still going crazy to this day. And of course, they have been touring recently. So it's not just some group that doesn't do anything for the fans as far as in the past
Starting point is 00:06:18 years. They've definitely been touring this year. And I assume they were tour in the year of 2026. So with that being said, I click my link to you in my bio. Let me know one of my social medias. What do you think about the Google dolls having one of the most hilarious names in music history? I kid you not. And of course, what do you think is the best track that they ever put out?
