Starting point is 00:00:00 I really think it's kind of lazy whenever you do a remix as your first song of the year because obviously the weekend and Ariana Grande are in the league of their own when it comes to making music. But then you get into a field where you're just completely comfortable in the way of not wanting to grow as a musician and as an artist. Because for the weekend and for Ariana Grande, there's no reason why, bro, there's literally no reason they should be putting out a remix for the first track of the year. Like, if you are telling me you don't have any unreleased music that can hit just as hard as his remix, then you are just, I can never say this phrase, but it's like, because it's more of a, it's more of an explicit term. But basically, you can't do something and tell me it's raining.
Starting point is 00:01:02 You know what I mean? Like, hopefully I can piece it together. but this is a PG podcast so I can't really fill in the blank but anyways um the weekend and ariotta grind are way too talented for the first track of the year to be a remix now a lot of people would say it's because the industry is shut down at the beginning of the year um really towards the end of December and then the beginning of the year the industry takes a break and then they get back to it because if you don't know all of these famous musicians that you look up to they have huge humongous corporations backing them which is why major labels come into play
Starting point is 00:01:37 promotion teams um PR people you know a lot of just how how higher higher position um marketing to direct you and whatever type of perception they want you to have of a certain artist i mean just think about the weekend and ariana grande it's this is really no reason why we should keep getting this collab after already having the 2016 track just do what it did statistically. I mean, we're in 2023 and they're doing a remix for a 2016 track. Now, some could say that that's the iconic aspect of this remix because I imagine if you was in the game for so long that now instead of, you know, because a lot of these top hits, they use sampling but now you've been in the game for so long that you can take one of your old
Starting point is 00:02:33 tracks and just remix it with the artist around your same level so some would say that that's to the point where he's just enjoying the fruits of his labor which i will i could understand that point but on the flip side of that enjoying the fruits of your labor doesn't mean that you can't give us new material like this remix would have been fine for me if it came out afternoon music from the weekend or Ariana Grande. Having a remix be the very first track that you put out for the year, I feel like it's very lazy, and that's coming from a huge weekend stand. I mean, even Ariana Grande stand.
Starting point is 00:03:16 Like, I literally listened to an album one time, and it was like, man, this would be in my top five if I had just regular all genres, but, you know, I cover hip-hop and R&B. So I enjoy music from both of these artists, but once again having a remix for the first track of the year it's just not something I can get along with but maybe you do I listen to the track I mean of course it's fire me imagine the weekend Ariana Grande making a bad track but now the track is fire Ariana Grande definitely added her own flair to it
Starting point is 00:03:48 um like I said Starboy released in 2016 so there's so much nostalgia going in with this track is just for Ariana Grande to bless the track with her vocals is like, I mean, the sky is the limit. You have two of the most popular artists remixing the track from 2016 that one of them already proved that was a smash. Ariana Grande, of course, posted the track on via TikTok earlier this week. And while working on her portion of the song, she said, quote, wrote and recorded a verse for my friend after a 14-hour
Starting point is 00:04:28 day on set. I don't know if she copping, please, or if she's shooting her shot at Able. If you don't know who Able is, then you don't need to know who I'm talking about. So anyways, let's get back into it. Quote, wrote and recorded a verse
Starting point is 00:04:44 for my friend after a 14-hour day on set. This certain exception had to be made. She captioned a clip, and then she also was seeing posting her video on it okay so and then the weekend posted her video on his Instagram account with a tearing up emoji basically saying you know it was so nice of her to take the time at her day to do that because if you don't know I mean you ever seen it
Starting point is 00:05:14 I wish it would be a mock like a day in the life of some of these artists even though you know it'll be a huge security risk or whatever but um I wish sometimes they could show the schedule because I think some people would be just not believing that some of these artists literally have the whole year booked like a year before. Like when Drake says, oh yeah, you could be able to book me maybe 2025. Like, it'd be like, I wish there was like a class on the way that these celebrities get to the heister at. Like, there's a reason why they're so busy.
Starting point is 00:05:49 They're not just out here just staying at the wall. You know what I mean? Like they got to go to certain press releases. They got to go to, I mean, there's documentaries on the rise of artists. and musicians of what they have to do to get to the status that they're at. But I don't really, I don't think people really understand the work that these artists put in. But it's also one of those things where, you know, somebody who's working a 9 to 5 could be like, well, they don't understand the work I'm putting in, which, you know, it's also true.
Starting point is 00:06:14 So I just feel like, you know, musicians specifically don't get the, don't get their just due when they're talking about work ethic. And of course, Ariahe, the ground name the weekends, probably the work. worst example to use because they, you know, get paid and super popular. But it's a lot for them, I imagine, you know, of course, I don't know. But by watching a lot of documentaries, I could imagine it, it would be a lot. So anyways, that's my take on the weekend and Ariana Grande remix to the 2016 track, die for you, click my link to my bio, let me know one of my social medias. What do you think of the track?
Starting point is 00:06:50 And also, do you think it's lazy to put, yeah, I'm going to keep saying this. Do you think it's lazy to put out a remix for your first track of the year?
