Starting point is 00:00:00 Getting into track 11 on the weekend's album, Hurry Up Tomorrow, titled Giving Up on Me. Let me just read off a couple lines for a second. You know what I mean? Let's have a little, let's have a read-along for a second. So basically, the weekend says, why won't you let me go? Why won't you let me leave? I've given up on me. I think I'm in too deep.
Starting point is 00:00:30 Why won't you let me go? Why won't you let me leave? I've given up on me. Now, ladies and gentlemen, he goes on to say a bunch of other things, but it was very pivotal that I read off that chorus because the vocal performance, I think, at this point, preaching to the choir because y'all already know the week is one of the greatest vocalists of all time.
Starting point is 00:00:54 But let's get back into this, right? Now is the lyrical content we're focusing on. It keeps me calling back the sunshine. I can feel the warmth on my skin for the first time when I'm far away from you. Babe, I'm on fire. My sunshine, my sunshine. I know it's not good for me. I know it's not good for me.
Starting point is 00:01:20 I know it's not fair to me. I know. You're no good for me, baby, my sunshine. and it's not good for me no the sunshine poetry at is fine as i ain't a lot to you so basically when it comes to this track giving up on me obviously you can tell this man is getting into his emotional baggage and it is fantastic i ain't gonna lie i don't know one great musician that has a stable relationship
Starting point is 00:01:48 in the history of music i'm just gonna lay it out like that because basically as far as putting together words and invoking emotion or evoking emotions right and having people feel some type of way towards your musical creation i think you have to go through life experiences and sometimes just sometimes those either have to be heartbreak had to be some type of loss it's a lot of things that creates a great story to tell and if you can do it musically like the weekend just did on this track giving up on me it has comes together to be a great not only a vocal performance masterclass but also lyrically in depth to the point where now you're wondering
Starting point is 00:02:31 who broke his heart to put this amount of pain on the second half of giving up on me like when you think about it I think the weekend's the greatest vocalist currently in the game I mean it's probably between him and Ariana Grande but as far as the lyrical content this is very pivotal from an emotional standpoint as this man is getting into not only whoever broke his heart but also letting them know that they should let him go which in all actuality has a lot of relatability from certain people who go through these type of emotions to where now this track is phenomenal
Starting point is 00:03:17 not only do you relate to it not only is a phenomenal chorus but then you have one of the greatest vocals of all time performing it and now you have one of the standout hits off of the album as far as the masses consensus currently because of course the album just came out it could always change but when it comes to the track giving up on me it was currently produced by max martin and it was a collaboration obviously the weekend is on the track and it's produced by max martin and it was first previewed in los angeles in late twenty twenty four where all the lot of fans was like we need this entire track now you know how people be like i need this now and they start banging their credit card on the table that's how they were for this specific track
Starting point is 00:04:04 because it's fantastic and a phenomenal masterclass on how to per words together while also giving one of the greatest vocal performances of all time so that being said click my link to my bio let me know one of my social medials uh social medias what do you think of giving up on me track 11 off of the weekends hurry up tomorrow album and if you've listened to the track or if you listen to the album what is your favorite track currently
