It is time to get into Abel Makona Tesfe, aka the goat vocalist, but more commonly referred to as The Weekend.
Now, of course, y'all are going to say, not too much, right?
Not too much.
But I don't think y'all understand.
This man has given us Starboy.
This man is giving us blind lights or blinding lights.
This man has given us one of the girls, which is literally just a soundtrack for an HBO show titled The Idol that he started in.
And it was still fire.
This man has given us all type of classic material, beauty behind the madness, Kiss Land, trilogy.
I mean, I didn't even mention House of Balloons, right?
So laying it out on Front Street, I think y'all can already tell.
I am a huge Abel MacConan TestFay fan.
Now, whenever we're getting into this album,
I have to let y'all know.
Y'all think that I'm a huge Drake fan.
When it comes to the weekend,
I think it's impossible for this man to make bad music.
For the simple fact that singing, I believe,
takes a lot more skill
and
mechanical enhancements
as far as overall
improving your vocals
than it does
when you compare it to rapping.
Now, when it comes to the weekend
and this album that's out now
on all DSPs titled
Hurry Up Tomorrow.
Let me just tell you all something.
This album is straight phenomenal.
Yes, I've listened to it
at least twice.
You want to know how long this album is,
22 songs,
And the time span of this album is an hour and 24 minutes.
And I've listened to it twice.
First impressions, I try not to put too much sauce on it because, of course, it's first impressions.
It can always change.
But from first listen, this is a phenomenal album.
I'm not going to rank it in the weekends discography because obviously it's too early.
And it's an hour and 24 minutes worth of content from one of the greatest vocalists we've ever heard.
through our headsets, through our earphones, through our car speak.
Okay, y'all get the point, right?
So anyways, that being said, the weekend just put out his album,
hurry up tomorrow, and let me tell you something.
This is a definite staple in his discography as not only is it the conclusion to his trilogy,
because if you don't know, it's more of a farewell to his persona that is the weekend.
I do believe the weekend wants to go or wants to be referred to as able when he gets into his actor career.
Because for some reason, if you're known by your government name more as far as in households,
it holds more weight as far as the acting industry.
Don't ask me why.
I don't really cover movies and TV shows like that.
But I do believe that's his next venture as far as wanting to be successful.
as even the HBO show The Idol where he constructed the entire soundtrack for
and he was acting all throughout the show.
I mean, he was starring in it.
So I think he's taking real serious steps to enhancing his acting cash in the industry.
And one of the things that has to happen is the fallback from music.
So I'm not saying he's going to retire from music.
I'm not going to say he's going to never put out music again,
which is the same thing.
I just think that acting, I think, is more of his focus now as it seems like the weekend literally feels like he's mastered music.
Now, I don't want to like come across as an exo stand, right?
But the weekend literally stated in an interview that he has quote unquote mastered the character of the weekend and seeks new creative.
challenges obviously he plans to create new music under his new identity but the
thing about the weekend and everything that he's given us up to this point you
would be lying to yourself if you can name five musicians off the top of your
head that could sing and create music better not just seen but create music
better also than the weekend as far as comparison he's really a one-of-one one of
one of the most streamed artists in the world
and currently has the 17th most play track in the world
with the track titled Timeless
that's also on this album but was more of a single
feature in Playboy Cardi
which even that was a whole fiasco
because if you don't know my favorite rapper Drake
he tried to have him
Playboy Cardi that is he tried to have him on his track
No Face and guess what
when it came to DSPs Playboy Cardi was nowhere to be found
if you don't follow the music industry you probably won't even know
that was a big deal the weekend took Playboy
Ricardy right under Drake's nose, pause, and basically put him on his own track title Timeless.
And guess what?
It's the 17th most played track in the world.
Y'all want to know where no face is.
Nowhere to be found.
Nowhere to be found on the charts.
And that's not the discredit Drake.
Obviously, he's one of the goats in this music industry.
But when you compare ghosts to another goat, it's more of like the Muhammad Ali effect.
At some point, you're going to get defeated.
and you have to take that loss gracefully, which we see Drake has not.
He's suing his label.
He's suing anybody and everybody that's promoting this not like us anthem.
And with that being said, I think the weekend knows that.
And he basically kicked it off whenever he was on the future and Metro Boomin album
to the point where he was singing in falsetto, a falsetto, as Drake would like to say.
and basically sent a lot of threats at Drake like his shooters are doing TikTok.
Now, very interesting that shooters are doing TikTok and there was a lot of shootings in Canada.
I'm just going to leave it like that because I'm not the police, right?
I leave that to the police to figure out what do I mean by that.
It's not like I covered a shooting at Drake's Mansion.
I never did that, right?
I've never covered a shooting at Drake's Mansion shortly after Cash as far as the weekends
managers house got shot at.
You know, I'm not connecting those dots.
all because I don't do police work right so anyways um the weekend was the main opponent and
Drake but guess what nobody ever knew it was always Kendrick versus Drake it was never the
weekend versus Drake why because people just aren't in tune with what happens in the music
industry so when when that happens as far as XO versus OVO and then the whole thing is put on
Kendrick as far as him defeating Drake the weekend is like
how Zemo was, was that his name Zemo in Captain America's Civil War.
Like, as far as Iron Man and Captain America going blow for blow at the end of the movie,
whole time Zemo constructed the whole plot.
He was the whole reason for them fighting in the first place.
He was the main villain in the whole movie and nobody knew.
That is the weekend in this whole fiasco of Drake versus Kendrick,
Drake versus Future Metro, Drake versus everybody.
It starts with Exo.
Now with that out the way, let me tell you all, this album is going to do disgusting numbers.
Like the amount of sales this album is about to do and it's propped up to do, I don't think
I've ever seen the weekend promote physical copies like he has currently as if you don't know,
with vinyl as we've seen with Taylor Swift, even though she's number one in the music industry,
if you sell vinyl along with your album release, it's going to be able to.
going to have higher numbers all across the board.
So now, not only is the weekend going to do his usual numbers, which actually, let me see,
the weekend, week sales.
Let me see.
Because he's really like one of the most streamed artists in the world.
But overall, the weekend's career trajectory as far as numbers, he's always in the three to
400,000 range as far as first week sales.
now obviously people are going to point out don fm that sold 150 to 170 000 units first week
but the thing with that was gonna outsold the weekend and first week sales which is one of the
biggest upsets in the music industry currently i compare that to when a little baby just had the
number one album over bad bunny of all people but guess who has the number one album currently
bad bunny guess what albums nowhere to be found little babies now i'm not saying there was some
foul play involved and Little Baby getting the number one album as far as first week sales all I'm
saying is bad bunny currently has 18 tracks on the billboard hot 100 and little baby has a whopping two
how in the world does that outsell another how in the world does that outsell when it comes
the first week sales y'all let me know I'm not counting any foul play I'm not going to sue like drake
I'm just pointed out for the public to know right so that being said the weekend currently only has
one track on the charts, but obviously he was leading up to this album,
22 tracks off of this album, at least 22 of them.
It's going to be on the charts.
Let me tell you that right now.
The weekend is about to do what every superstar does as far as their entire album
charting in the top 100.
Why?
Because everybody loves the weekend.
They're going to listen to his album in full.
So they're going to listen to it.
It's going to be on the charts.
I'm not saying they're all going to stick, but there's going to be a hit out of this album.
It's just going to take a while for it.
the masses to come together as far as what is the consensus hit out of hurry up tomorrow now
for me listening to this album only twice so obviously keep that in mind it can always change
but i love the track red terror i like the the flow that he used i like the subject matter
with uh without warning and hurry up tomorrow it's interesting because i wonder if he's talking
about real life events as far as his relationship with his parents that thing that that's the one thing
that stood out to me now think i've heard too much in his past projects like there's a lot of things
hinting at his current relationship with his mom and dad i thought was very interesting i'm just
gonna leave it like that because it was two listens maybe i completely missed the plot but i just think
the weekend really dove into his relationship with his parents in the last three tracks of this album
which was very interesting to hear it let me just leave it like that so with this
album hurry up tomorrow via excel and republic records under umg of course because they're the big dogs
of the music industry so of course the weekend's going to sign them i think this is going to be a
pivotal moment in the weekend's career not only because it's the conclusion of the trilogy
because if you don't know this was the conclusion of the trilogy that was so he had don fm
let me just pull this up right quick so basically
see if I can find this.
So when it comes to the weekends projects,
you started with, what was it,
House of Balloons and, yeah,
so House of Balloons in 2011.
And then, of course, I didn't even know why I said that.
Basically, the trilogy is, hurry up tomorrow,
which is a finale.
You had Don FM and then you had after hours.
So that was the entire trilogy of this run he was going on.
So very interesting how this is going to,
to wrap it up as it's literally titled, Hurry Up Tomorrow and you know the Weekends album,
like he's basically letting you know that he's done with the weekend and he's ready to find
a new persona to put music under and basically challenge himself creatively because even he said
that he feels like he mastered the character of the weekend. So with that being said,
there's other things that's phenomenal as far as the philanthropic efforts of
the weekend as the proceeds from taking me back to LA will be donated to the LA
regional food bank because if you don't know the LA wildfires are a real thing right now and
it's very serious for a lot of people in LA and it's very impactful if you don't know I
covered the LA wildfires I don't really cover too much events like that but it was just
super important that I covered it to the point where January 13 2025 if you just type in
Los Angeles analytic dreams with the Z.
It will pop up as Los Angeles County wildfires.
There's a lot of things that happened and a lot of things that was very interesting as far
as the misinformation out there.
So I wanted to make a segment on it and basically give real information to people for them
to consume and make the own opinion off of because I don't like being lied to.
I don't think anybody does.
So I like to put it out on Front Street and just showcase actual testimonies from the
real people and the real officers, the fire officers that's in these areas attending to these
fires. Because it was a huge deal. So shout out to the weekend for attributing his LA track to the
LA wildfires. And he already donated one million to relief efforts, which, you know, I love
when people be like, only only one million. That's like a dollar to him. Be like, how much is you
donated? Like, how much have you donated to be even criticizing somebody for donating one million
dollars you know what I'm saying like I love when people be like oh I would have done so much more it's like don't we didn't
Kendrick say we have the same 24 hours like am I tripping so anyways with that being said the weekend
does have some promotional events coming up of course the New York pop-up experience January 31st through
the February 2nd is in collaboration with Spotify and of course the hot topic takeover is happening in Los Angeles
is from, oh no, it's merch.
My phone, I was like, dang, he's in two places at one time.
That's a lot of flying.
But now, it's merch.
So he has a merch event in New York City pop up January 31st through February 2nd
collaboration with Spotify.
And then he has a hot topic takeover in Las Vegas, January 31st through February 2nd,
featuring exclusive Frank Miller design merch.
So those are just merch drops for your information.
So with that being said, we're going to get into the rest of this album.
You already know I'm a decide.
dissect us like a kilo of myelic Cyrus because we have to get into the overall quality that able
test fey has just blessed us with so that being said click my link sure in my bio let me know
