Starting point is 00:00:04 This is the time of the year where a lot of joy and festivities are occurring. So when we're getting into the anthems, especially for this particular holiday, not only is a lot of trees getting decorated, a lot of family events is happening as far as just enjoying the festive atmosphere that Christmas offers. but the anthems musically that goes along with it is also very important especially in setting the mood for the Christmas season. So one of the tracks that's really impactful as far as the masses in setting that Christmas spirit is definitely last Christmas, a track made by Wham! Exclamation point. I don't know what the exclamation point is for, but that's the actual.
Starting point is 00:01:02 track that that's the actual name that the artist is under. So Wham kind of reminds me of when Young Thug says whatever Wham says go. And I think it's the acronym of who's harder. I think it's who's harder than me? Something like that. But that's not Wham. That's like something else. But I believe he calls a wham.
Starting point is 00:01:27 Who's harder? I don't know. Something like that. Obviously the nickname. didn't stick because a lot of people just call a little baby washed up at this point but getting back to christmas tracks wam put out this last christmas track all the way back in 1984 so the actual track last christmas became a hit in 1984 reached number one and 2023 marking the longest journey to the top spot now this actual track is under sony so there's all type of games being
Starting point is 00:02:02 play behind the scenes for the ultimate Christmas track, right? Mariah Carey usually wins that battle every single year. She is under Sony. Well, but this particular track is also under Sony. So UMG is the big dog in the music industry. And currently they have a whopping 75% of the music market share. So as far as everything, a totality, if you look at it as like a pie and the music industry, UMG has 75%.
Starting point is 00:02:34 Now, Mariah Carey and Wham is really putting on for Sony's 17%. And not to make fun of it, because of course it's still a lot. But, you know, 75% compared to 17%. You know, it's a slight discrepancy, if I do say so myself. So when you're getting into Wham and his track last Christmas, being the third most played track in the world currently, you come to realize that it's definitely the Christmas season and there's a reason why a lot of the giants
Starting point is 00:03:08 when it comes to musicians drop in the fourth quarter because you really need a solid fan base to compete with these type of seasonal tracks that come up this time of the year, year after year, while also combating the fact that a lot of people are turning it in for the year as far as people in the industry who usually helps promote these records. So not only are you promoting an album by yourself, but you're also competing with tracks
Starting point is 00:03:41 that really don't need any promotion because every single time the Christmas season comes around, people are playing, all I want for Christmas is you, people are playing rocking around the Christmas tree, people are playing last Christmas. I mean, a holly jolly Christmas. There's a lot of different iconic Christmas tracks that people, would prefer to play versus your album that just came out like a week ago you know and especially when it comes to music that's very positive and just fits along the lines of the christmas joy and the overall festivities that's occurring right so that's why i say that also as far as this
Starting point is 00:04:21 particular track last christmas by whim it's the most stream holiday song globally as far as on December 1st, 2024. Now, of course, Mariah Carey's track, all I want for Christmas is you took over that spot as far as the number one Christmas track. But in December 1st, people was hopping on last Christmas early to put it in that particular spot on the charts. Now, now it is ranked number three overall with 8.6, 8.63 million daily streams. whenever you're under a major label,
Starting point is 00:05:03 they're also promoting tracks like it's going out of style. So of course, there's special physical formats for this particular track to celebrate the fourth-year... What type of word is that? I don't even know what that was.
Starting point is 00:05:16 The 40th anniversary celebration. So when it comes to major labels, you know they're going to find every trick in the book to promote something that they own majority of the rights to, right? so for the special physical formats it is a CD and a 12 inch vinyl and black snowflake white and Zoe trope I don't know what that is you know me Zoe trope hopefully I'm pronouncing that right
Starting point is 00:05:48 but it's available now and then also the album last Christmas by George Michael and Wham, which is the Last Christmas soundtrack, as currently the 38th most played project in the world right now. That was accompanied with Wham Last Christmas Unwrap, where they announced to air on BBC 2 and BBC IPlayer in December 2024 exploring the song's history and George Michael's creative process, like I keep saying. If you have a major machine behind you,
Starting point is 00:06:27 they're going to find every trick in the book to bring your track back to like in uh back to light and if it's already a successful iconic track like this one then you can already understand that they don't have too much pushback when it comes to celebrating these iconic tracks again and again and again so with that been said last christmas obviously is one of the more pivotal tracks of all time but as far as christmas you have to let me know if it's the best Christmas track of all time. So with that being said, click my link to your my bio. Let me know on one of my social medias. What do you think about Wham's track last Christmas? And what personally is your favorite Christmas track of all time?
