Now getting into the land of cozy games, you already know.
Starting point is 00:01:12 This specific character not only having eight, but 11, so not eight, but 11 main Yoshi only platforming games, you know what I'm saying? So getting into the latest Yoshi games, safe to say, that this particular game is notoriously affected of masses as Yoshi in the hook, snipe, in cyclic. Hold on. Yoshi in the mysterious book, yo, these translations for the Japanese sites, it's crazy. But, yeah, Yoshi in the mysterious book that came out this year, of course, more specifically, it came out May 21st, 2026 exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2 is currently the fourth most play
Starting point is 00:01:54 game on the platform. So of course, usually, Yoshi doesn't sell tremendously well. You know what I'm saying? Shepard. All right. You know, I ain't trying to disrespect Yoshi fans out there, but just know that his top selling game ever was Yoshi's Island. That did $4 to $12 million, including like port slash remakes. And then, of course, you had Yoshi's Island DS that sold $3.3 million.
Starting point is 00:02:24 Then you had Yoshi's story that sold $2.8 million. So obviously it's no Mario, but it's still respectable in its own right. And I will say that Yoshi in The Mysterious Book is performing well to be the fourth most play title on the platform. Now, it did just come out, May 21st. So we'll have to see if it keeps that ranking. But of course, like, let me type in Mario. Mario probably has 20 million games on this list. So basically, Mario currently has eight games.
Starting point is 00:02:53 Like Super Mario Party Jamboree is currently the 10th most play game on Nintendo. and then you have let me see was that the right one no no no Mario Kart world excuse me it's the sixth most play game on a Nintendo platform and then you have Mario cart um now then you have Super Mario Parties Jem Marie that's the 10th most play game on Nintendo and then you have Mario car 8 that is the 19th most play game on Nintendo the Mario car 8 deluxe edition and then you have Super Mario Galaxy 2 that's the 20th most play game on Nintendo you have super Mario Bros. Wonder, it's the 24th most. You get the point. Mario's insanely popular on Nintendo. Super Mario Party Jamboree. It's the 26 most play game. That's the Switch version, not the Switch 2.
Starting point is 00:03:39 And then Mario 10 is fever. This is 27th most play game on the Nintendo platform. So he has a whopping eight games on the Nintendo platform as far as, was it eight or seven. Hold on. You know, you know, 26 going on 80. Hold on now. These numbers allude me. Give me a second. Let me see. All right. So let's see if we can count right quick. We have more. Mario Car World. Okay, that's one. Super Mario Party Jambery. Just Switch 2 edition.
Starting point is 00:04:01 That's two. Okay, there we go. Mario Car 8 Deluxe. It's three. Mario Car Galaxy. That's four. Mario's Super Mario Bros. Wonder. That's five.
Starting point is 00:04:10 Okay, Super Mario Party, Jambery. That's six. Mario Tarnet, his fever. That's seven. So seven, technically. I think when it comes to Yoshi being a spinoff of, of course, the main flagship character in the franchise, I think it's performing respectively well.
Starting point is 00:04:27 the gate so yoshi in the hook not uh yoshi in the mysterious book is doing phenomenal out the gate so of course over here at notorious mass effect we get into the games and music ips that notoriously affect the masses and for yoshi and the mysterious book is no different as of course mario and luigi technically do not appear like as a prominent playable character but if you've seen the last mario movie you already know that they hinted back to yoshi's island as yoshi saved Mario and Luigi as babies. And essentially, Yoshi carried baby Mario to rescue baby Luigi from Kamek.
Starting point is 00:05:10 I think that's what, yeah, that's what the story is. So basically, if you saw the last Mario movie, if you're wondering why Yoshi was saving like baby Mario and Luigi, it's because it was hearkening back to Luigi Island. Yes, I just said hearken once again, 20s going on 80. So if you're not familiar with Yoshi in a mysterious book,
Starting point is 00:05:28 Well, let me break it down to you. As this is more of an explorative type video game. You're not supposed to rush through it. It's a lot of creative ways you can approach this game, as especially for my nine to fiveers out there who have little Timis and want to play it with them, or a little consangress, you get the point. Have little kids that you want to play this game with them. The main story is approximately six to ten hours.
Starting point is 00:05:50 But the explorative side, because this is basically a collectible and finding all the discoverabilities and the specific. game, it could take you between 18 to 40 hours. And, you know, that's just as fun as or explorative as you make it. You can rush through the main story or you can explore with your little kids or let them play it themselves. As I think the attention to detail in this specific game is what makes it stand out. As with this being a discovery-driven type of game, you're playing more like a field researcher than like a normal Mario platformer. So don't think it's going to be Super Mario Bros, but just with Yoshi. This is more explorative, more discoverability
Starting point is 00:06:33 going on. You're basically like Bruce Wayne as Batman in the field. Like you're just trying to discover like a true crime detective what's going on. And it rewards you as far as experimentation over like speed and combat. So don't go into this game thing. It's going to be another Mario and Luigi's re-skin. So I think when it comes to this particular game, the main thing, the main that drives it as far as the unique factor is yoshi entering the pages of mr e which i think is this character right here because it is it is a book right i think mr e's a book so entering the pages of mr e to explore the colorful habitats filled with strange creatures and environmental puzzles now of course let me let me pause this right quick analytic dreams video on spotify to see the video along with audio
Starting point is 00:07:20 there are a lot of yoshi variants as you can see right here you can play as all these colors as far as uh all these different, you know, colorful Yoshi, you could play as them throughout the game. But when it comes to the gameplay mechanics, you have the classic Yoshi abilities as far as the flutter jump, the egg throwing, the ground pound, and of course,
Starting point is 00:07:40 eating any and everything in sight. So that being said, the discovery-based system is basically primarily focusing on observing creature behavior, feeding creatures fruit, carrying creatures on Yoshi's bag,
Starting point is 00:07:55 throwing creatures, basically is a lot of discoverability and the platform elements definitely adds on to that but don't think you're just coming just for that platform aspect and i think getting back into the unique features of course you have you know riding on yoshi and things of that nature but you also have surfing swinging bouncing and transversal shortcuts that you can have throughout the game and the whole book aspect is the most unique factor that makes it stand out from other yogi mainline entries because you have paper, craft, visuals, painterly artwork, stop motion-inspired animation and storybook aesthetics. So that's the main thing that sets it aside from the other
Starting point is 00:08:36 Yoshi games. And the narrative follows Yoshi, of course, Mr. E. Bowser Jr., hold on now. That man finds himself into every video game. And of course, he was in the last Mario movie, which I think was immaculum. But, you know, that's a story for another day. Well, actually, I do have my review of the Mario Super Galaxy movie. So you just type in Mario Super Mario Galaxy Analytic Dreams with a Zia should pop up. You know, just a little shameless plug.
Starting point is 00:09:00 So getting back into the unique creatures is 50 to 60 plus unique creatures habitat specific ecosystems or every environment feels different. This is the review and sales roundups. We're getting into other people's findings and their explorative experiences. So
Starting point is 00:09:20 10 to 20 plus discoverable interactions per level. Of course, some of the examples include Crazy Daisy, Bunchabee, snorffboard, swirm, bewildered bird, and various piranha plants species. So if you was wondering what other species are in the game, those are just a sample size of what's entirely in the game. And of course, when it comes to the platform, I think I already said this,
Starting point is 00:09:46 but it's only on the Nintendo Switch 2. So for the Switch 1 owners, Nintendo's not showing on you any love You know what I'm saying? Every time you ask them If Yoshi in the mysterious book Is coming to Nintendo Switch And we beat these folks
Starting point is 00:09:59 Woo de doo, we beat them We go forward They may mess around Tell you to kick rocks You know what I'm saying So anyways Nintendo Switch 2 owners Can only play this game
Starting point is 00:10:06 And when it comes to the developers Goodfield Developed this game Of course it's published by Nintendo When it comes to Goodfield I don't know too much about them Actually let me see I don't know how many games
Starting point is 00:10:20 they've developed. All right, so after doing some Mickey research, safe to say Goodfield, as a Japanese developer founded in October 2005 and Kobe, now headquartered in Osaka Shinagwa,
Starting point is 00:10:40 Shinagawa, Tokyo. And of course, the founder, which is the current president and CEO, I don't know how to say this name, I kid you not.
Starting point is 00:10:51 At Sunubo, at Sunobu. Ibisu. That's the current president's CEO. And then you have Shighiaru Umizaki. That is the chairman. Both are ex-Konami staff from the Kobe branch. And they worked on games like Gan Bear Goiman and Castlevania. I do know about Castlevania. I want to have I covered that before? Let me see. Castle. That's what Castle, right? Castle. Okay, I don't think I, oh, there I cover that game. Anyways, I do know about Castlevania. I think it's like one of the staples.
Starting point is 00:11:28 Like a lot of people enjoy the game, basically. It's not like a staple, you know, because Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, etc. Those are the staples. But as far as Castlevania's fandom, I think it's pretty huge. So anyways, when it comes to Goodfield, they're very much involved with developing Yoshi in the Mysterious book. But if you don't know, they also developed other Yoshi games such as Yoshi's Woolly were a world in 2015 on the WiiU plus 3DS port they worked they developed Yoshi's crafted world in
Starting point is 00:11:58 2019 for the switch and of course Yoshi in the mysterious book that we're talking about now for the switch too so they definitely know a thing or two about Yoshi's world and how to build and craft a very immersive Yoshi type gameplay loop and of course some of the other things they worked on was hold up now I thought warrior I thought warrior never got his game I'm not thinking about somebody else oh no that's waliichi you know the mario fandom always wants a wall luigi game for some reason so wario land i even know he had his own game that's crazy in 2008 on the we the first big console title as far as you know that good field developed kirby's epic yarn in 2010 for the we princess p's showtime in 2024 for the switch and then of course they have a they had a self-published
Starting point is 00:12:44 titles like baccaroo in 2023 so is baccaroo the uh the ball game see balker let's see is this that's the game right mc game i think it's like the ball game i think i've played that before hold up now i'll play this before oh no that's not it i think it's something else am i thinking a digimon i think i think i think yeah i think i'm um imagining digi'm so yeah no this game's totally different okay so those are all the games that good feel develop along with all the Yoshi titles. Well, not all of them, but the ones I listed. So some of the things that you do need to keep in mind is when this game came out, it debuted number three in physical cells in the United Kingdom.
Starting point is 00:13:26 When it came out in Japan, the first week copies was 39,000, and it was number two on the weekly charts. As of right now, it is number four on a Nintendo chart. So overall, I think it's doing pretty, it's having a pretty successful debut. So shout to Yoshi, definitely capitalizing off of his debut, not only in the Super of Mario Galaxy, but of course, in the gaming industry, as far as in the year of 2026 in his own game, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book. So some of the other things I also want to touch on is, of course, the review roundups as when it comes to IGN, I think that was one of the videos we was watching
Starting point is 00:14:00 before. IGM gave this a six out of ten, saying, quote, Yoshi in the Mysterious Book is an undeniable delight with adorable storybook creatures that are amusing to learn about in your first, surprise field encounters with them. But while there's impressive variety on display, it comes at the cost of death. The result is the most charming video game bubble wrap you'll ever pop and not much more. And then ladies and gentlemen, Nintendo gave it an 84 out of 100.
Starting point is 00:14:34 I'm not saying they're saying. Nintendo gave it 84 out of 100. Let's not read off Nintendo. I feel like the Nintendo fandom, I feel like they may be a little skew. So let's go to Game Informer. Game Informer gave Yoshi in the Mysterious book a 7.7 out of 10 saying, quote, this adventure plays more like a unique puzzle game with Yoshi aesthetics,
Starting point is 00:14:57 and the result is a largely rewarding experience that rarely challenged me. That is a kid's game. But didn't have a problem delivering the charm. Yoshi and a mysterious book is by design, an inviting game with little challenge, a pleasant vacation where all the animals want to be friends. And then last but definitely not least, let's go to VGC. That gave it. Hold up, though.
Starting point is 00:15:24 He gave it a perfect score. Okay, so VGC gave Yoshi in a mysterious book a 5 at a 5, saying, quote, Yoshi in a mysterious book is Nintendo's most unique 2D platform in a long time. You guys. See, that's the problem. That's kind of disrespectful. I ain't go cut.
Starting point is 00:15:46 That got to be disrespectful. They said platformer. Hold on, am I tripping? What's the last Mario 2D platformer? I guess technically all of them. No, because there was the build your own game. Wasn't that 2D?
Starting point is 00:15:59 I feel like it's a little disrespectful. They said a long time. I'm like, hold up now, Nintendo and platform and go hand in hand. Hey, whatever, it's their review. Not mine. That's why it's called a review roundup. Anyways, let's get back into the very interesting review.
Starting point is 00:16:11 I'm a repeat. So VGC gave it a 5 out of 5 saying, quote, Yoshi in the mysterious book is Nintendo's most unique 2D platform in a long time, a brilliant, creatively rich side-scroller that will appeal to young children while simultaneously offering depth and nostalgia,
Starting point is 00:16:30 if not much raw challenge to older players. A brilliant, unique 2D platformer, I loved playing. Well, you know, it's their review. You know what I'm saying? Overall, I think, the truth is in the middle i mean the lowest score i believe is like six out of ten because that's what igian gave it i did see some other six out of tens but i also saw some uh eight and nine out of ten
Starting point is 00:16:54 so it seems like at the very you know as far as the middle ground it's not a bad game you know what i'm saying and it's very much what you make it once again it's more uh discoverability and explorative type of focus other than platforming so that's why the vgc reviewed threw me off but But I would wonder, like, why not have like Mario Luigi playable characters? Because they've had a good amount of Yoshi only game. So it's not like he can't sell on his own. So just like Luigi's mansion, maybe start to put some of the other characters from the franchise into the Yoshi game and let him be the main lead.
Starting point is 00:17:29 Like, he doesn't have to just only be the only playable character. But I guess that's what you have Mario Party and things like that for. So anyways, with that being considered, click my link to share in my bio to follow me my social medias and of course make sure if you're on spotify to comment down below if you're a yoshi night no i'm just playing that's probably not what you call your fandom um if you're a yoshi connoisseur what is your favorite aspect about yoshi games and of course if you played the yoshi in a mysterious book what is your favorite part about the game
