And That's Why We Drink - E497 An Everlasting Lemon Haunting and a Levitating Glitter Pinecone Phone

Episode Date: September 6, 2026

It’s Episode 497 and we're sharing some big news in that Christine will be leaving the podcast at the end of October. While this is the very sad end of one era, we're ready to start another with Chr...istine behind the scenes at ParaPods Network and Em behind the mic of ATWWD. We'll continue bringing the haunts year-round as we creep our way into a new, lovely, spooky chapter. And meanwhile we've got some fun stories for you today: Em brings us the biography, not biology, of one of Christine’s favorite people, Chip Coffey, the man of many names. Then Christine takes Em back to Idaho with a story we touched on in our second book, A Haunted Road Atlas: Next Stop, The Boise Murder House, with its sentient oil ball. And how many shark shirts is too many, do you think? …and that’s why we drink! For more information, you can read our press release and statements here: podnews.net/press-release/thats-why-we-drink-schieferCatch our bonus Yappy Hour intermissions on Apple Podcasts: apple.co/3L28lDw or subscribe on Patreon!___________________Get 40% off your first Hungryroot order plus a free item in every box for life at hungryroot.com/DRINK with code DRINK.Save 20% Off Honeylove by going to honeylove.com/DRINK ! #honeylovepodquince.com/drinkTransform your space with pieces that hold up to real life—join Wayfair Rewards today and get 5% back on every purchase at wayfair.com or on the Wayfair app.Machine Washable Rugs, Made Better. Starting point is 00:00:00 You know, every now and then a sponsor comes along where, you know, they'll send you talking points and, you know, what to say and all that. It's not even something where you have to prep the entire thing or take apart the ingredients
Starting point is 00:01:45 and then put them all in a pan and, you know, kind of wait around for it to cook. Two minutes or less, you have delicious food and it's never frozen. It's always fresh food. If you are looking for something to try, that's really going to fill your belly, but, you know, if you're on the go or if you just don't want to wait, if you are hangary, if let's say you're showing signs of being hangary and your partner is like, how do I fix this immediately, you get factor. Starting point is 00:02:57 Actually, I'm like literally just feet away from Canada with my mother. And my mom keeps asking about this tumble rug because I tried to gift it to her when she got this condo and boca. Like what a stereotype she is. But the reason she wants this rug so much besides the fact that it's beautiful, but it's spillproof. If you need like a really deep clean of a rug, it's machine washable. It's also safe for kids. pets, anyone's spending time on the floor. My mom's favorite part, I'll say, is how it looks. It matches all of
Starting point is 00:03:26 her decor. She's really gotten into the design of this whole place. And she's like, the only thing I need left is this rug. And I went, well, mom, have you heard about Tumble? And ever since then, she's been checking her phone like a maniac for the delivery update. So if you would like to be like my mother and your big old condo and boca, or if you just want a rug, you know, Tumble is a place for you. They're machine washable rugs. They're made better. For a limited time only, our listeners get 10% off. and free shipping at tumbleliving.com slash drink. That's T-U-M-B-L-E-Living.com forward slash drink. And after you purchase, they will ask where you heard about them.
Starting point is 00:03:59 So please support our show and tell them that we sent you over to them. Christine, why do you drink this week? This is a real doozy for everyone if you haven't caught the news. So I was deciding to just wing it. So here we go. No, I appreciate that. I want to also wing it. Okay, great, great, great.
Starting point is 00:04:30 That makes me feel better. because I kept thinking, like, am I just being lazy? And it's like, no, I just want to speak authentically. Yeah, this is, wow, I did pull the tower. Wow. Yeah. So, see, here's the thing. Once upon a time.
Starting point is 00:04:49 It all began. It all began in the year. Oh, my God, now I'm just stressing people to fuck out. I'm so sorry. Folks, I have to say a very sad thing, which is that I will be leaving the podcast. at the end of October. And I was dancing around it, not very gracefully, but that is the news. It's like really sad and hard, but it just feels right and necessary for me at this point in time.
Starting point is 00:05:21 And yeah, it's not a decision I made lately, and it's not something that has been like, recent. This is like a, you know, something we've been working through for a while. And, um, yeah. We, so we, I suck. The end. No, you know, it's, it's, it's what's best for you. And, you know, I think the, it's just, uh, if you haven't noticed, I mean, we, it's, as of today that we're recording this, a press release came out about it. So like, by the time on TMZ, it's slashed all over. Did you see breaking news? The dream. I'm sure New York Times like breaking headlines hit every We paid Zach Begans to announce it himself. Oh shit.
Starting point is 00:06:05 And you know what? He paid because he's so fucked up in the head. He paid the Amber, the government. Oh. The corrupt administration to release like a silver alert, you know, about this. Some old, old podcaster is missing. Yeah. It's just hop into the pasture.
Starting point is 00:06:23 We're just sending her out of the field and she's going to go be really happy in a farm somewhere. And you're not eating her for dinner right now. Not yet. Oh. That turned weird. Well, I do, I want to add on to what you're saying that this is, because I feel bad that this is coming so close to the time that Christina is leaving. And one of my biggest concerns this whole time has been making sure that the audience had
Starting point is 00:06:48 enough time to process it before anything changed. But unfortunately, with the powers that be in just how circumstances play out and telling everyone behind the scenes. We've both spoken about this in our own text messages that we wanted this told to people way earlier. It just did not happen that way. But we have absolutely been talking about this for a long time. This is something that we have both known about and we're both okay with it. And I absolutely support Christine. Christine supports me carrying on with the podcast. It's like, yeah, well, that's the big news, I guess. I guess that's real big news. Like mine is like the intro to the bigger news. I don't know. Is that, well, I just, I'm not ready to leave the podcast yet. I really love doing this. And it's just a lot of fun. And I'm very, very lucky. And Christina's out of place in her life where she's ready to try some other stuff, which you can talk about if you want. But I want to keep-
Starting point is 00:07:45 You'll find me, folks. You can't get away from me that easy. I promise. Well, this is where- Oh, wait, we did release like statements if you want to read them for more like detail or what, if we're forgetting something. which we probably most certainly are. But just so everybody knows, Christine is still going to be a part of like parapods and behind the scenes and everything. It's just not in front of the microphone as much. Yes. I don't even know what level of microphone you even want to be a part of, but you'll be more on the back end with Eva and all that.
Starting point is 00:08:11 We're talking USB condenser. Sick. Live mic. Christine will be the mixer. Yeah. You might even know me as big mic by the end of this season. Or little mic or medium-sized mic or condenser mic. I like medium mic. The point is, this is why we had to release a written statement and not
Starting point is 00:08:32 just say it on the podcast. Right, because otherwise it was going to be too scatterbrained, I guess. But I just, I, and I tell if you want to cut this out, that's fine too. But I, I just want to say to everybody that I just feel bad that it is so close to the time. I really wanted people to know earlier. But that's just, it's just, it's nobody's fault. It's just how things happened. I think it just, you know, it's just how it's meant to be. I don't know. I let it kind of just happen the way it was meant to happen and let the pieces fall. And I feel like it's gone smoothly enough. We've sort of, I mean, I both sort of like surrender to whatever's the situation. Yeah, exactly. But, uh, no, we are, everything, everything's like good over here. I fully support Christine's decision. We've known about this for a while. This is not, this is something that, you know, I'm very sad that you're leaving. But, you know, I've made peace with it. I'm only happy for you. And do you want to talk more about what you're up to? I know we've put out a press release, but just if people haven't read that. Yeah, I mean, sure.
Starting point is 00:09:32 I feel like I don't even know. I mean, I'll still be on Beach 2 Sandy with my brother. And we'll be on tour this fall, so that's fun just for a couple of cities only within driving distance. But other than that, I don't know. I'm just kind of like posting. I've been like doing like little channeled readings on TikTok and YouTube that like are just daily, but it's just whenever they come to me. So I can, if you want to find me there,
Starting point is 00:09:57 but if that's like not, I mean, that's certainly not everybody's bag, right? So if that's not your thing, please just avoid because you're going to be like, what the hell is this? Like, what is you doing? I feel like if people listen here, they probably are about that life. I think there's some might be. Yeah, I hope. And it's like, you know, this is, that's how I learned Tara was by watching these videos of like readers like kind of connecting with my energy and stuff. So I'm doing like energy readings and channeled readings over there on TikTok and YouTube. And I don't know, in the meantime, like, I got my Reiki certification. I have a little studio set up.
Starting point is 00:10:29 My brother and I are recording. We have a little space set up. Every other aspect of my life has also very actively seen a tower moment. So we're not going to go there, but just like, you know, it's, but it's like. Life is happening, like, rapid speed right now. And it's sort of like, it has felt like a nightmare, like Chrysalis for a long time. And now it's like, oh, God, everything's happening at once. So, yeah, you know, the nightmare curse list.
Starting point is 00:10:55 That's me. Not anymore, though. I'm out now. I'm free. I free myself. Yeah, I don't know where I was going with that. So apologies, but I've never been one to really know how to deliver some awkward information.
Starting point is 00:11:10 No, I think we're both just, maybe it's just me, but I assume I'm speaking for you as well, that we just want everybody else to, you know, if you feel like this. is like somehow blindsiding you or like it feels a little like informational whiplash like we are going to get through it together christine you are welcome back any time if you are feeling chatty and you know whatever that oh if i'm feeling chatty if you ever need to throw in a new little story um as for what's going to happen here on out i'm going to have some guest hosts fill in for christine while i figure out the next move. I have had a lot of time to think about what that next move is, but just nothing has felt perfect yet. And I think that's because I just want to make sure that our
Starting point is 00:11:58 listeners have either some sort of say or I just want to hear your input on how you would like to see things evolve from here. And I didn't, it just didn't feel right to make a decision or like, what if we brought someone on immediately after Christine? I don't want it to feel like, you know, now you just have to like this person and deal with it. Like I really, if you guys in the comments, I know we say that kind of in a silly way sometimes, but truly if you guys have any suggestions on what you would like to see moving forward, I don't want things to change too much. I would still like it to be this format and these topics and things like that.
Starting point is 00:12:33 Because I, this is already a lot of change. We don't need to change everything. And it would like, you know. But anyway, I'm now rambling. I just want to make sure that people feel as comfortable as possible with an uncomfortable situation because it is new and we all know I age age age, and I'm going to miss you. I wish you were staying, but I also understand that you've been here for like a decade. It's, you know, time for things to. Yeah, it's hard to believe. It's been a long time. It's hard to believe.
Starting point is 00:12:59 Yeah, I know. I'm really, it's been, it's been also a long, like, grieving process. So I feel like, you know, it might not be coming through. Yeah, right, like here. We've, we've processed other people. This is new information, but we've both grieved it. And, yeah, it'll be different, but I still feel like a lot is more to come with, and that's why we drink. And I hope everyone is okay with that. I hope I know it'll take a second to be cool about it. But we got to be cool, guys. We got to be cool.
Starting point is 00:13:33 And yeah, whatever, if you ever have any fun new projects coming out or anything, you know, always come on to promote or whatever that is. I just come on to promote my new channeled. Just popping. Hey, guys. What if I just do channeled readings on the podcast? I'll be like, hey, hang on. I'm getting something. Actually, that would be lovely.
Starting point is 00:13:52 Can you imagine if you come back? You're actually a full-fledged fucking psychic? That'd be crazy. I mean, it's like probably exactly what is happening right now because at this point, I don't know what I am and what I'm, not to be dramatic, but I don't know what I'm not. Well, anyway, it all began in the year 2000. Yeah, I don't know. I, yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:12 It's been one hell of a year. One hell of a journey. One hell of a decade, really. But on the round, I'm around. I'm around. I'm just bopping around. Is there, I don't know what the right? I don't even know.
Starting point is 00:14:29 I want to make sure that we give the time it deserves, but I don't want to harp on it either. But how about for yappy hour, if you're comfortable with it, we can just spend yappy hour just talking about some favorite moments. Sure. Or, I don't know. Yeah, that's fine. I don't know, whatever, whatever floats your boat.
Starting point is 00:14:47 Yeah, we'll figure, we'll, we'll flow with it and see what happens. And for all we know, when I tell you my topic, maybe we'll find something else to flow into. I was going to say, well, by the end of it, we'll have a menu to be looking at or something. Yeah, yeah. It's always a menu, isn't it? It's always a menu. It's always a menu. Well, oh, I'll tell, I know.
Starting point is 00:15:03 I'll tell you about this shirt. I just found in my closet. I bought it 13 years ago in Shanghai. And I just found, I just found in my closet. I was like, oh my gosh, this is so fun, my shark shirt. And then I was like, wait, I have lots of shirt. shark shirts and so now I'm starting to realize like I kind of have an issue I think I don't know that's a third shark shirt I've had this week where I've been like wait a minute that strikes a good question
Starting point is 00:15:23 how many shark shirts until you realize someone maybe has too many shark shirts? How many shark shirts should a shark sheet should she have? How many shark shirts should she have zero is the answer and how many shark shirts does she have I think probably 16 I think after four I would I would be like oh someone's got like a bit of a shark thing. Well, this one is like I just bought it at a, uh, a forever 21 in Shanghai. And it was the year of our Lord 2013. Wow. Yes, it was. 2013. I don't know why I still own this. This is what I'm saying like, I'm like, I don't even know anymore. I don't think I've worn this shirt since 2013. Are you going through like a purge? Like are you trying to declutter? Yes. Okay. On every level. Okay. Got it. Spiritually, mentally, physically. I mean, and a
Starting point is 00:16:11 it's not really under my control, speaking of surrendering to the universe. It's sort of like, if you follow along any of my, because some people do, and there have been really loving and jumped over to my channel, my YouTube and TikTok. But if you are on there and you watch through, like some of it really is very like, I feel like when I'm reading energy, I'm reading like the connection between myself and other people. And so it like calls in the same energy of like what I'm going through. So I feel like you can almost follow this process. And I started doing it one day.
Starting point is 00:16:39 I literally got a voice in my head that was like, just do a tarot reading for TikTok. talk and I was like, that's so embarrassing. No. But I just winged it and I started doing it and it just kind of worked. So, but yeah, that shows showcase. Like some days you'll look at me and go like, what the fuck is up with her? And it's like my face is just like a ghost. But yeah, so you can kind of probably because it's daily.
Starting point is 00:16:58 You probably scroll back and just see my face changing throughout the process. And sometimes your hair is like just sticking out. Oh, just gray. It gets grayer and grayer. Yeah. I start wearing makeup again. Oh, nope. Another silver alert.
Starting point is 00:17:08 Another silver alert. Oh, another silver alert. She hasn't. She hasn't washed your hair again. Anyway, it's fine. We're on the, I feel for, from my perspective on my life alone, I am very much, I've reached the light at the end of the tunnel of my own, like, very much dark night of the soul experience this year. I feel that I finally reached that as of like this week, literally. So, yeah, it's been like a tornado, a whirlwind. I don't know. But yeah, yeah, I don't know where I was, again, I'm just kind of winging it here clearly. But it's okay. I think. I think people would, I, I think it's appreciated. Even when we were talking to our manager about how we would go about telling people, I feel like it was a question for her about like, well, do you want to even bring it up on the podcast? Or would you like to do it in a different way? And I, both of us, I think we're like, there's, you know, we want to be. There's like no way around it. Yeah. And also, like, we've talked about. Like, how are we not going to talk about it? And we've talked about every other thing. In the podcast world or about our podcast. We've talked. We've talked. We've talked about. We've talked about. We've talked about. We've talked about. We've talked about. We've talked about. We've talked. We've talked about. We've. We've talked. We've. We've talked about every single thing up until now. It would be really weird to not talk about the end of an era. Yeah, exactly. Exactly. And it just doesn't feel right. To be authentic about it. So I, you know, you're going through a lot of changes. I am horrified of change. So I'm sticking with this. But that's not why I'm sticking with it. I also just really enjoy it. But I'll be holding down
Starting point is 00:18:30 the fort. And my feeling about it right now is that I'm going to have some guest hosts help me out probably through the end of the year because I don't know if we said this earlier but Christine is sticking around of course you gotta have episode 500 together we gotta that would feel weird to not do that with you and Christine is also going to be with us for all of spooky seasons so we get one last big Halloween
Starting point is 00:18:52 together but then for the rest of the year I'll be trying out some new people or just hanging out with some people while we figure out what's going on and if you like anyone in particular that tends to be slow season anyway people kind of start doing their own thing and then picking back up in January it seems at least with our audience so yeah so I'm thinking by new years hopefully there will be an official decision
Starting point is 00:19:16 made so yeah oh just take a look at my birth chart people and you'll see what I'm going through okay and then you'll like literally know just mathematically what's happening um it's really all very amazing how it reflects back um yeah well I'm glad that you're doing okay I I was going to make a joke about reading my birth chart and I'm trying to like like get it together so I'm just going with we're all very proud of you for making some changes and wherever you need to even if it is also the podcast but you know we're just happy that you're feeling better than you were a year ago so yes I'm uh I'm feeling well yeah I'm feeling more like myself I would say yeah good with the sobriety and everything you know there's a lot of a lot of pieces that just sort of like all accidentally or on purpose kind of went click click click
Starting point is 00:20:01 click, click, click. And then it was like, ah. Wow. You know, things are moving. So, yeah, just weird times. And it gets weirder by the day. I feel like, you know, it, I don't know, at least my life does. Every day I'm like, what the hell is going on? I, uh, I've just been traveling as much as I can. Oh, yeah, where are you? I'm in Michigan. Okay, okay. Oh, you're literally like, we're like a state away. Yeah, we are. Well, sort of. I mean, there's one in between, just a big one called Ohio. We're, also, I'm on the, like, I'm basically in Canada. That's how far up Michigan. I'm in the Upper Peninsula right now.
Starting point is 00:20:36 So. Lovely. U.P. Never been. It's pretty. Heard good things. I'm ready to leave. This reminds me of your time in, uh, the fondalac.
Starting point is 00:20:54 Is that where you went? What the fuck is a fond of lack? What are you talking about? What? No. Fondell. What's the town? What's the town? Help me. Where's the town that you went to where you were like, oh, it's so boring. It's just like country club people or it's like golfing at this place you were. Now, I see now it's, I'm making it sound worse. You didn't say that. I'm making you sound like an asshole. You didn't say that. No, it doesn't sound like something I would say. I'm just trying to figure out what you're talking about. It was said in a much nicer way. But you were essentially saying like, oh, it's kind of bored. It was when you were in one of your random states. Idaho. Like Idaho?
Starting point is 00:21:28 Probably Idaho. shinks. Hey, by the way, my story today, okay, speaking, this is, okay. Is it in Idaho? Is it in Fondelac? Okay, great. That's in Wisconsin. What was I, what are you talking about? Where were you? I was in Cordelaide. Coeurline. You're just like, I'm in Michigan. Okay, Fondelac, Cordel. They do both sound like Americanized versions of French things, yeah. They are, I think. No, I, uh, also, I'm always blown away when Detroit. as French. Always forget is detour. Always forget. I love it. Um, yeah, no, this has been nice for the water views. And I'm also, I've got a little sunburn if you can tell, but, oh, I've seen enough water. I'm, like,
Starting point is 00:22:12 ready to go shopping. I'm, like, going to go shopping. Where do you go? Do you go, do, like, the influencer thing where you go into, like, a coach store and you're like, which one should I pick today? You know, maybe it's the best that you're leaving. Um, because after 10 years, if you think I'm going at a fucking coach. I know. I know. I'm honestly... I just love to watch like influencer snark videos and I watch them so regularly that a lot of
Starting point is 00:22:35 my contextual stuff is just like watching like, what's her name? Michaela Nguera like going into like... Our algorithms are so different. I don't know what your first fond of lack and now this shit. And then it's like sleep hypnosis to manifest your highest quantum reality. Yeah, there's some insane shit in my... It's like when we were going to go studying at Eureka Springs. And you were like, oh, I just listened to like bells.
Starting point is 00:23:00 What was it? Like, what do you listen to to to fall asleep? It was so. Oh, I was listening to you to the Navajo flute. Yeah, yeah, the flutes. I liked to listen to the Navajo flute. And you said it so casually, though, like, oh, you know, like the flutes. And I'm like, crawl.
Starting point is 00:23:14 This is my not. Are you talking about it. I mean, I will tell you about it any time. So don't even worry. But yeah, I, where were we? Oh, yeah. So that's why I said, like, when you go shopping on vacation, like, what do you do? It's a fair question.
Starting point is 00:23:26 like fancy people would go to these I don't know I mean I go to like the souvenir shops I guess that's probably what you do I'm really a sucker for a main street USA so oh yeah yeah like I just like the like the I mean sometimes the main street is
Starting point is 00:23:44 like a bunch of franchises which I don't care for but I love when you can go down every street is like you know like six street on Austin where like they're all kind of weird and funky you know I love funky yeah and you just like get a feel for the vibe. You and your mom both love funky. You literally made fun of your mom so much like three weeks ago. You were like, she loves funky. It's so embarrassing. And now you're like, I just love anything funky. Can I be honest? It's because- Too much time with Linda. Up until an hour ago, I was with my
Starting point is 00:24:09 mother for the last like 10 days. So that's why. How is it going? You seem like in good spirits. Well, she's on a plane now. So, um, she. Oh. Oh my God. And you did just say I'm over it. I want to go shopping. So yeah. Okay. We will. So, so. So. My mom did a really good job of planning the trip, but it was, but it was more for scenic stuff. And I'm like, okay, I got to go get some dopamine. That's all. Yeah, sometimes you need that. You need a spike.
Starting point is 00:24:37 I get it. Well, and she drinks and stuff and it's like you're not, you know, so that's dopamine hit. You're not doing that. And we were trying to find some like really good restaurants out here. But the areas that she picked, it wasn't like the main downtown areas of Upper Peninsula. It was kind of like more like in the middle of nowhere. parents of the restaurants were really slim pickings. So it was a different trip than I'm used to because the last time we were on a trip together,
Starting point is 00:25:03 we went to the fucking Hamptons. And this time, this time it was not the Hamptons, which is fine. So maybe we were all wondering if you went to a coach store today. I don't know. I mean, after that, the Hamptons is the last. You're right. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:16 Yeah. No. Well, my mom and I, we tried to do a trip every year, usually around Mother's Day. And we try to find a city that neither of us have been to. but we've traveled a lot of places and so is she. And I was like, we never been to like the fucking Hamptons. And then it became a thing where we like went to say that we've gone. So you've never been to Fondalak.
Starting point is 00:25:36 And that's next. And that shows. Oh. Walk through the doorway and realize it right now. Right now. But no. So I really did appreciate the views, but I'm ready to go spend some, spend some money on some yummy food. Spend some hardened cash on that on that.
Starting point is 00:25:55 Main Street USA Corn Dog, you know what I mean? Yeah, well, you know what they have out here, which has been really lovely at every restaurant they have cheese curds, and I know you like a curd. Ugh. They have that in Fondalach because it's in Wisconsin also. Shut the fuck up with that. I mean, I don't know. I've never been.
Starting point is 00:26:11 Well, before I get into my story, I want to ask, you know, why are you, not why are you drinking? We know why. I'm drinking for that same reason. What are you drinking? I just finished my usual bisexual iced coffee. It looks pretty lesbian to me. That's not very on the boy side with all that.
Starting point is 00:26:29 Well, this is the one that you named the bisexual. But yeah. So I guess I guess it's like I guess it depends on where you are on the spectrum, right, of bisexuality. Where are you today, Christine? Like that cup or? I don't know. What does it mean in my, like what does it mean? Like this is how I, do you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:26:46 Like is this like how I present or is this like what I'm like more interested? You know what I mean? The vibe I get. If I saw you walking down the street and I knew that that was. You'd be like she's more gay. I'd be like, that's a gay bisexual. I'm also wearing a sleeveless shirt. So that does seem to be a fair guesstimate.
Starting point is 00:27:02 But I would say I'm actually like kind of square. I'm kind of like off everyone at this point in time. No, none of this. God damn it. I really love when you're bisexual. I love it. I like anti-sexual. I'm just kidding.
Starting point is 00:27:16 I'm kidding. I like when you're the stereotype where you show off your little armies and all that. I mean, yes. Like that's why I'm saying like presenting maybe I'm halfway. But like, I don't know. I don't know, like, because I'm not really thinking about, well, I'm telling you, in the tank top, with that cup, I would think that's a bisexual for sure. And she's lady leaning currently. Interesting. Yeah, I wouldn't say that. I mean, that's probably what they pick, think when I picked Leona from school. Yeah, that probably is what they think. You almost hesitated a little too long on that one. No, I thought, because I thought, because I pictured myself, I zoomed out, as I often do on my own life.
Starting point is 00:27:55 And I pictured myself walking through Leona's school in what I'm currently wearing, which is biker shorts. Gay! Come on, girl. And I was like, oh, yeah, they definitely think that. But like, I'm, I don't feel that gay. I, like, I, you know, wait, why are we talking about this? Why are you asking me this? I don't know. It was the cup. The cup really scared me. Okay. I, uh, I don't know. It's just the usual. It's the same. Hey, here's what I'll say. It's the same cup. It's always been. Okay. So, you know, perception is reality. That's what I'll say. Here's my cup. You guys can decide whatever you want. And also, I'm drinking, well, I'm not because it's ice coffee and it's empty. And you can probably tell by how fast I'm speaking. So I'm now on to water. Okay. Well, speaking of my mother from usually the Hamptons, I guess when we were out here, she discovered an iced tea that she was so obsessed with. And I don't know how true this is, but allegedly according to her, it's like it mainly comes from like grease. Oh. And she was like, I have to have more of this tea. It's the best tea I've ever had in my entire life. And then for someone who I'm clearly missing a chunk of the story because she was like, you can only get it in Greece. But then 24 hours later, she had it in her hands. And it was an Aldi. I promise it was an Aldi. I promise you. I would bet you $8 million on this spot. There's no like jungle gyms in the Upper Peninsula. I know exactly. Like that's how I, that's such a good point. So this I've never, I don't know this tea. I've actually never tried this tea in my entire. late, but my mom was getting on a plane and she had three bottles left and she was like, please,
Starting point is 00:29:29 please drink them. It's like contraband. She's like, I'm getting on a plane. I can't, these can't cross state lines. So for anyone who would like to try a sponsored by Linda Tee, maybe my mom's the new co-host, oh my God, Greece, can you imagine Greece Indiana or something, you know? It's got to be. It has to be like Gary Indiana, but like, you know, different or something. Sponsored by Linda, this is Olympus Ice Tea. Can we see it? You can, but the reason I haven't showing it to you yet is because since she gave me three bottles and there are three different flavors and I've never tried it before I want you to pick the flavor there's three flavors she like did she go to Greece when I was taking a nap I don't fucking know she like Amazon primed it from
Starting point is 00:30:08 grease or something okay so here's here are the options I have a feeling I know which one you're going to pick and it's going to piss me right off okay here's the first one go ahead this is mint okay mint mint then we have a Greek mount this is for I feel like they sell this at cost co. Peach. Okay. Oh, that's lovely. Okay.
Starting point is 00:30:33 And lemon. Oh, God. Well, I would not do that to you on today, this day. Yeah, I'm really picking out a wound there. I'm leaving, but you can have something involving lemon. He, he. That's my everlasting haunting of this fucking podcast. Yeah, what a name I've made for myself.
Starting point is 00:30:54 Um, peach, I would say, right? Or mint. No, peach, peach. You got a pick, babe. Well, you said you would be mad with what I got picked. Okay. Well, I assumed you were going with lemon off the spot. Oh, oh, oh, it was lemon. That was mad. Okay. Yeah, peach. Okay. Great. Let's all see. Is it. I thought it was going to be like caviar flavor and you were going to be like, Christine loves this shit, you know, anchovies. And I was like, oh, my, which one's the crust? I really probably does exist. Okay, so my mom did say when she tried this out of the bottle, she was more disappointed than when she got it straight out of the cup because I guess when she got it at some restaurant in Detroit, I guess they like really juzzed it up with like like different shapes of ice and like a mint leaf and all this. Oh, so there might be some like a gap in the presentation versus the actual user experience. Exactly. So I'm going to imagine there's ice and mint in this. Okay, lovely. And different shaped ice. It must be. it's nice
Starting point is 00:31:57 it's nice it's nice I wouldn't import it from Greece in 24 hours or less but oh wait they do they literally sell it at Greek go greek dot shop well there you have it and that's like where you have to buy it your your mom is like not messing around with this shit too she was it was like I don't know what was going on but her pupils were dilated when she was telling me about it
Starting point is 00:32:18 she was like I have to fucking have this right now she'd already had 16 bottles of the Olympus ice tea and was like I'm on to something. I think I finally cracked the case. Her hands were like this when she was talking about it. Anyway. Okay, my people in Greece are on the case and they're going to get the case to me tonight. I feel like the Greeks are going to hear this and go, that's not, that's like nothing.
Starting point is 00:32:40 That's like, swill to us. You are going to go get zapped by a lightning bolt because it says right here, source from Mountain Olympus, it says on the website, Greek cart. Put a Hercules write this. What the fuck more? do you want. Sourced from Mountain Olympus is produced from cideritis leaves. That sounds poisonous. And it sounds bad. It sounds bad. I wouldn't drink any more of that. And is made according to the traditional Greek recipe. Okay, well, maybe it's safe. The leaves are carefully handpicked and then gently brewed, releasing all its flavor. See, this is part of the experience. Like, you didn't
Starting point is 00:33:14 get the, I mean, maybe you did because your mom seems like she did have an entire like sales pitch. I literally, I was taking a nap in the hotel and she came back and she's like, you have to have this tea. So anyway, maybe the mint one will really do it for me. I feel like if she needed a little leaf of mint with the peach, maybe she needs a slice of the peach with the meat. Is it, you need it cold. Is it really cold? It's not chilled.
Starting point is 00:33:37 Oh, you got to have it chilled. I feel like that'll make a difference. It's my own problem. My mom's screaming in her car while she's listening to this going. She's like throwing them out the window. Oh, I thought you meant on her way to the airport. Throwing them out of the window to you. She wouldn't dare.
Starting point is 00:33:49 Not this, not this treasure she's found. Not this, yeah, beautiful contraband. That's worth like millions. Anyway, that's exciting for you. That is quite a big why you drink, though. Like from Olympus. I had to go to Mount Olympus to get a drink for the news that we just, the A-bomb, we just dropped on people today.
Starting point is 00:34:06 Do you know what that is? What? It's a Sisyphine task. Say it again. Say it again. A Sisyphine task. No, because I say it wrong. Sisyphine.
Starting point is 00:34:15 No, that's what I fucked up. And I added an extra syllable to sound, and I made myself think I was sounding correct. But it's actually Sisyphian. Okay. Whatever you say. you're right it is whatever i say for those who aren't watching i just gave a real nasty look to christie
Starting point is 00:34:32 that's sometimes how i say it and sometimes it's not and sometimes we say uh how how well yep it's like you never spoken a day in your life um it's like i was never meant to be here after 40 years uh no what's half azzardly that's what i I'm trying to think of. And Sagu and Fondalac and all the other things we've said for so many years on this show. If there's one thing you guys know about me, I love to what? Say it with me. Eat. But you know what I don't like doing when it comes to eating? Cooking. And I don't like waiting around. I don't like having to go to the grocery store. I don't like having to figure out what ingredients I need. I don't like having to do anything that's going to require more than like 20, 30 minutes of my time. So a lot of times I get
Starting point is 00:35:17 overwhelmed when it comes to cooking or, you know, grocery shopping or even just like being, you know, just thinking in a healthy way about food. Sometimes it's just easier to just grab something quick. But luckily with Hungry Root, they have really helped me out. They have food that looks very, very yummy. And I click it and all of a sudden it chose about my door and all the ingredients are picked for me. And you can even pick options of recipes based on how long you're willing to actually cook in the kitchen, which is my favorite part of this. I just came across, what was something, it just came in Allison's box because we both use hungry root. It was a Penang-styled stir fry. Oh, God, I love panang. It was so good. And the best part about how I kind of limit my
Starting point is 00:35:58 choices from like, oh, I only want, you know, to cook for 20 minutes or less or whatever it is. But then Allison has a different, you know, preference sheet. And so when her food shows up, I'm like, now, wait a minute, maybe I'd actually cook a little longer for that because I don't look really good too. Hunger Root is so, so yummy. It's so good. It's healthy for you. They pick the ingredients for you. It comes to your door. They take out so much of the work for you. It's really worth your time. You're going to love Hungry Route as much as I do for a limited time. Get 40% off your first order. Plus, get a free item in every box for life. Go to Hungryorot.com slash drink and use code drink. That's Hungryroot.com slash drink. Code drink to get 40% off your first box and a
Starting point is 00:36:32 free item of your choice for life. Speaking of the news that we are dropping on everyone today, I was concerned that I was like, well, I have to go next after we say things. like that how the hell what kind of topic am i going to offer up that people will actually listen to because i feel like a lot of people are in a real murky emotional state at the moment especially the people who've been listening since the very beginning so i thought i would what are you an energy reader now i just have a vibe murky just have a vibe murky so i'm trying to i'm trying to keep spirits high and i especially wanted to keep your spirits high because i knew we were going to talk about it today but i didn't know what energy you'd be bringing if you would be sad i'm bringing
Starting point is 00:37:11 2013 shirt, baby. I don't know, man. I'm fucking losing my mind. I did this with the in a good way. With the preparation that maybe it would have gotten really sad and, you know, I was, I thought maybe tears would be shed
Starting point is 00:37:27 on my end over here. So I was trying to make sure that I kept the mood right. So. I'm seeing if I have any, I could do like a little like, I'll just like pinch myself real quick. That would make me feel better. Just so I don't have to. We'll fix it in post.
Starting point is 00:37:42 Okay. Great. Jack? Well, in case you were going to have, you know, you're going to feel super mopey, I was like, I got to pick something that Christine's going to fucking love to get her back in the right energy space. So this turned into one of those things where I thought it was going to be quick. It became not so quick. But you also, if I'm going to tell this information to anybody, it has to be you.
Starting point is 00:38:04 this is a biographical account of Chip Coffee. Now I want you to... I literally had no... I literally thought you were going to say Zeus or Poseidon or some shit because I was still thinking about that iced tea. And then you said Chip Coffee and it's like... Your dream man. I mean, he's literally the dream man of all
Starting point is 00:38:33 because like the scarves, the skulls, the Chip Coffee Shop. dot shop or whatever it's called and man it's just like good idea after good idea with that guy talk about business acumen totally and also just like connected like to the dead people he's like oh that one's not nice and I'm like oh he can read a room like nobody of dead people I mean like nobody's business every time you mention him and then I go watch like a clip of him I go I totally get my Christine's obsessed with right it's like when people look him up and they're like oh shit like yeah he's a he's a he's an icon well I want you know this is not just a just any old putz in around research.
Starting point is 00:39:09 I want you know that I read multiple books. Did you go straight to the source? Of course I went straight to the source. Oh, well, did I reach out to Chip Coffee? No, I didn't. Oh. No, no, no. Oh, well, he and I DM.
Starting point is 00:39:23 You should have DMed him. He literally said, I heard my mention on your podcast. He's about to hear it again. Oh, my God. I was going to say, tell me he's signed up. Well, listen, Chip, you better be ready for whatever's about to unfold here because I certainly am not. It didn't occur to me that DMing was even an option here.
Starting point is 00:39:39 But, yeah, he's, I mean, he is a very busy man. Chip, if you're listening, just know that you were the present that was going to keep us all in high spirits today. Yeah. So this, I read. Of all episodes for him to jump into, this is a weird one. He's like, what the hell's going on here? He's like, why are these people talking? I'm going to sue these people actually is what I'm going to do.
Starting point is 00:40:01 Well, then I'll give you a big shout-out so you don't sue us. I got a lot of my information from his own book called Growing Up Psychic. I listened to just about every interview that Spotify YouTube has to offer. This is like this one I took, it was, it spent, I spent some time on this. So it was a labor of love. It was a labor of love. This is for you. So.
Starting point is 00:40:26 Oh, I'm so honored. This is so exciting. This, okay. So he calls himself, but I, Christine calls him. him many things, but let's get with the professionalism here. I already in this episode I've called him many things, yes. Besides Christine's dream man,
Starting point is 00:40:43 he calls himself a pre-cognitive psychic, a medium, an empath, a spiritual counselor, and a communicator with the dead. He is also a speaker, a writer. It's just like a full package. An investigator and an ordained minister. He has been featured all over the place. A lot of this I just found straight on his website,
Starting point is 00:41:02 which I love this. He feels there's something about him. It's just aligned. You know when you meet someone and you're like, oh. Yeah, this makes sense. They're just like aligned. It makes sense. On his own website, he like listed every single thing he's ever been credited in, it seems
Starting point is 00:41:18 like. And so just from pieces of his website, I found that he has been featured on coast to coast, Larry King Live, Mori, The Insider, Biography Channel, Tyra, ETVH1, People Magazine, The Soup, Chelsea Lately, Expedition Unknown, Haunted Salem Live, Exorcism Live, which is crazy. You talk about that sometime. Haunted collector, real fear. Good Morning America, Nightline, CBS is Sunday morning. Wait, no, hang on a second. I'm going to wait until the end of the bio. We can cut that. We can take this. Just drop it in the end. But just real quick before I forget, Chip, what are you doing end of like beginning November throughout the rest of your interminable, undeterminal future? Because where there's a spot, a vacancy that's opening up here at this show. I'm telling you, I don't know. If you stepped away and Chip Coffee arrived. I mean, I would literally be like, I should have stepped away five fucking years ago.
Starting point is 00:42:08 You literally be like, now I'm an avid listener of the show all of a sudden. Now I've, I literally love this show. It's amazing. Wow. Chip, I'm looking for someone to guest host between November and December. You let me know. So he also apparently got into acting for a while. Did we know this?
Starting point is 00:42:25 Well, I certainly did not know. I'm so sorry, Chip, if you're listening to this. none of the things that I saw on his IMDB and his acting section were very recognizable. They were a while back. But he is also apparently known for A&E's show Airline, which I did not know about, and we need to discuss at some point. It was, from what I'm seeing, it was his first appearance. I looked everywhere under the sun could not find this show. It just doesn't exist anymore.
Starting point is 00:42:54 But we need to talk about it because apparently it's Southwest Airlines reality. television show. Hello. Pardon? And never ever was this disgust to me? Why has taken? Now, an algorithm would have shown, with our combined Venn diagram like sliver of interest, we would have both received that on our algorithms.
Starting point is 00:43:15 There's no way we could have missed this. So he was in one of the episodes about, I guess, haunted planes or something. And the title was things that go bump and the flight. Okay, well. I'm going to lose my mind. Yeah, that's great. That's just no notes. notes on that one. He is, and that was pre-AI, by the way. So like, let's give them props for that.
Starting point is 00:43:35 He is best known for his recurring appearances on paranormal state and psychic kids as well as kindred spirits. Oh, I love psychic kids. Oh, my God. He has done tens of thousands of readings for people over the years. Oh, and if you're like, what's kindred spirits and it sounds familiar? We had Amy Bruny on recently and did a book giveaway. And it was just really fun and cool and she's awesome too. Did I tell you, I just had high tea with Amy Bruny recently? No. You did not. That's like the most first.
Starting point is 00:44:06 What? Yeah. Holy crap. My mom and Tom watched us talk. Did you drink Olympus tea? I must know. That would be fucking crazy pants. Can you imagine you bring your own tea to the tea party?
Starting point is 00:44:19 No, but we ate scones and I had a chicken salad little sandwich situation. Oh my gosh. Lovely. It was nice. I met her daughter. Oh. It was very nice. It was very at random. I was just at high tea with my mom. And I saw someone sitting next to my mom and I was like, she looks like Amy Brinney. And then I went back to talking to my mom. And then she went, don't I know you? And I know you were both sitting there. That's what I'm saying. Yeah, we both. That's, well, I know, but you said I had high tea with her, but I just assumed like you saw she was in town and like message her or something. No, it was very random. That's crazy. Literally. And we were on an island. What are the odds? High tea on island. You should have asked her about Chip coffee. She's literally like his best friend. Well, I didn't know I was going to cover this. He. yet.
Starting point is 00:45:01 Okay. Well, you know what? Psychically, I was telling you somewhere in a different reality. So you know what? You should have been listening. Well, no. So her and I, we ended up having a high tea with our families for like over an hour together.
Starting point is 00:45:13 It was very wonderful. Yeah. And she's like just written a book. Anyway, it's great. So those are where our man. Oh, but kindred spirits. Oh, so good. Delicious.
Starting point is 00:45:22 Delicious. Delicious. Our man, Chip coffee. That is his intro. And now we're going to get into it. His, his biology. biography. What?
Starting point is 00:45:31 That handsome man. No. Now we are going to get sued. Please. Do you know anything about his background? Do you know anything about his background? Apparently he's been acting in a few things, including Southwest Airlines, tragically no longer running reality series, but no, I don't know much.
Starting point is 00:45:51 I mean, I'm maybe from psychic kids, but. South West Airlines has changed way too damn much recently, and by that, I mean, the reality show has to come back. I mean, that's the only big thing missing in my book. Here we go. I tried to keep some real spooky stuff in here for you. And I tried to get as detailed with his past as possible because if you love this man the way you say you do, you need to know, I need to know what if one day he just shows up? You have to be able to.
Starting point is 00:46:14 Well, then I look insane. And I say, right? Then I'm like, hey, how's your? I haven't thought about that. You know, I think about that constantly. You said, hey, I heard you were an actor. Well, because it happens to us sometimes, right, where people are like, hey. How, like I heard Juniper sick or something.
Starting point is 00:46:30 And it's like, what? Because I'm like behind, you know, I didn't like click. And it's like, oh, shoot. And then they're like, oh, God, sorry. I heard that on the podcast. You know what I mean? Like, I feel like then I get this thing. But honestly, he knows now that I know.
Starting point is 00:46:42 So it's like, okay. Yeah. This is how you're finding out and he knows that. Yeah. And he's also finding out at the same time, which is cool for him. It's exactly right. I bet. I bet he loves this.
Starting point is 00:46:51 I bet he's loving it. I hope so. There's no, there's no shade about him in this. Just, just riff an interesting story. Didia didn't have like a, what's that category where it's like a footnote or? No, no, no. The category where it's like controversy. Oh, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:08 Okay, so he's an only child, fun fact. He was born in Elmira, New York. Okay, I did know both of those things actually. Jesus. Okay, do you know his birthday? Do his chart later. Is he an Ares? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:47:22 What is he? He is born August 21st. So last week, two weeks ago, he had his beating. Okay, so that's like Leo, August. 21st. That's a great. Late August, is he Virgo? Leo or Virgo? He's on the cusp, I think. There's not technically, yeah, it's Leo.
Starting point is 00:47:39 Okay. Cus, yeah. There's not technically cusps, is that what you're going to say? Sort of. Sort of. I don't know. I'm learning a lot about astrology. But yeah, it's technically Leo, but yeah, okay, fire sign. I was close. I'll take it. Cool. I mean, I'm not surprised at all that he's a fire sign. Those scars. Those are his flames.
Starting point is 00:47:58 I mean, really, they do like whip, people into a frenzy. Yeah, they fan the airs. They fan the flames. Holy shit. Well, I guess that's more an air sign, isn't it? Whoopsies. Okay, so he was born...
Starting point is 00:48:10 True. I bet. He's like a Gemini rising. I would love that. That would be great. August 21st, 1954. Apparently he's Irish, Native American, specifically Cherokee, Dutch and English. And he calls himself a Heinz 57 blend. Yes, he does.
Starting point is 00:48:30 There's no way he says that without his flaming scarves. No way. So, flaming because of the fireside conversation, not because he's gay. Okay. Which he is also. Which he is also. The supernatural experiences around Chip Coffee have been happening in his life literally starting at birth.
Starting point is 00:48:51 Do you know about his birth? No, no clue. Okay. So his mother had a near-to-the-experience while giving birth to him. Uh-oh. During the C-section that they were having, his mother's blood pressure dropped so drastically that she blacked out and then had visions of two angels dressed in white lifting her off the table. Like bye-bye, bringing her away. Oh, my. She told them to let her live and they vanished. They just put her back on the table and went away. And she came to just in time to give birth to Chip Coffee. I can't believe the angels were almost going to not let Chip Coffee happen. Leave him. That's not nice. Or I'm sure he, whatever the situation was. that was not his mother or family in general's first paranormal experience. Chip actually comes from many people with gifts.
Starting point is 00:49:36 So his mother, her whole life had psychic abilities. His grandmother read tea leaves. His great grandmother was a respected indigenous medicine woman. And because of this, he thinks this might be how he got his gifts. Because in some interviews, he did say that he thinks that these abilities are hereditary. But he doesn't think that the abilities themselves are rooted in. DNA. He just thinks how easy or accessible these gifts are is what's rooted in your DNA. Because he thinks everybody has these abilities. Yeah, I love that. That's such a cool way to look at it.
Starting point is 00:50:07 It just depends on how easy it is for you to access. So he, his whole family seems to be really tapped into this shit. And because his family was so involved in this world, he luckily actually grew up not being judged for his abilities. And it was very normalized. So one of the things he talked about in his book a lot was like, don't make your kids feel like fucking weirdos. it was very normalized at home, but they did tell him to keep it private and keep it within the family to avoid judgment because at different times in his life, he lived in the Bible Belt. And like in the 50s, 60s, I mean, that's, yeah. Just safer. Fun fact, since we're talking about that, he was raised Catholic.
Starting point is 00:50:47 He is still very, very religious. And he had something interesting in one of his, it was either an interview or a book where he said, like, well, if you're going to believe in like all the mystical parts of religion, why is the mystical parts of being a medium? so fucking crazy to you like yeah that's what's so wow like catholicism that's why there's like this they call like a pipeline from like catholic girl like school girl or whatever to like which you know because it's like there the ritual is so similar like there's just i mean it's literally blood sacrifices to somebody and you all chant every week with with with each other and eat the blood of his body and all that i mean my grandmother like had these like altars and you know it's like you to like the virgin marrying it's like yeah like now i have that but in a different context
Starting point is 00:51:28 Like you say deity and all of a sudden it's fucking crazy. I know, I know. So, yeah, that's an interesting take. I do know. I have noticed that he's pretty religious. He said a quote, I'm supposed to say it later, but I'm going to read it here because it's so funny. A lot of people think that the paranormal goes against the Bible.
Starting point is 00:51:43 But news flash, I'm a Southern gay Catholic psychic medium. Wrap your brain around that. Wrap your scarf around that is what I say. Open the door and fucking realize it or whatever. And don't let it hit you on the way out. Yeah, you know what? That is so beautiful. beautifully put. That is so beautifully put. We got to bring back news flash. News flash is so good. We should
Starting point is 00:52:04 have put that at the start of the episode when we had a real news flash. Literally, yeah. News flash. You should have brought out your jacket when you were reporting again. Oh, da, do it do, do, do, do, yep, I should have next time. Okay, so Chip Coffee is born. And one year into his life, they moved from New York to Spartanburg, South Carolina, which is where his child modeling began because he was a calendar baby. Oh, oh my gosh. I know. he was. I think somewhere in his toddler years, he was a calendar baby. While he was a toddler, he also started to show psychic abilities. The first thing he used to do was he would just stare at the family phone and just shout someone's name and that person would then call the phone.
Starting point is 00:52:45 Crazy. Just shout someone's name. Can you imagine? Grandma! It'd be crazy if he was like, the president of the United States. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. The car dealership again. Imagine if you're trying to have a sneaky phone call, like, not around him. He's, uh-uh, no, no, no secrets. But so it became like his thing. Like, everyone knew like, oh, well, if he says their name and he's looking at the phone, they're going to call. And I love that, like, because they were so, like, supportive of it, that he just was like, yeah, I do this all the time. And it's so normal. Like so many of us I feel like are like, is it real? Is it real? And he's like,
Starting point is 00:53:21 oh, it's just always been real. And there was no shame rooted in it. So he didn't even, it didn't even occur to him to not do it or tell people. To not trust himself. Yeah. Um, so he actually, this is very funny. He calls himself the original caller ID because, okay, that's great. This is, this guy calls himself a lot of things, I tell you. I should have put that in the beginning of his intro. The original caller ID, Chip Coffee. You know what you said? You told me, I call him a lot of things and I thought I did, but now I'm realizing he calls himself a lot of things. And I'm like, honestly, he's doing a better job. News flash. So again, the family did not make a bad of things. So again, the family did not make a big deal out of this. They treated like it's normal. And a few years, like when he's like seven or
Starting point is 00:53:59 eight, I think, they moved back to Elmira, New York. So he was born in Elmira. Then they went to Spartanburg. Now they're back in Elmira. Okay. They do a lot of flip-flopping between those two towns. I'm very confused. When they move back to New York, they buy a family's house. Everyone has passed since, but the family was originally the Murphy's. So now they're moving into the Murphy house. one of the only things in this house that the Murphy's left there, which is so Fizzuck and Erie, is a framed greeting card on the wall. And it reads, The house is yours.
Starting point is 00:54:35 Its portal opens wide and welcomes you to all inside. Dear friend and guest, enter in peace and rest. The house is yours. Like I beg to differ. How far into the signing process contractually? have we gotten? Did the Zillow listing actually show a photograph of that on the wall? Because if that didn't show, then that, I consider that to be like false advertising.
Starting point is 00:55:01 Also, I rebuke all of that just from my own energetic field. Bye. That's terrible. And you know what's so funny is like it probably was meant with such kind intentions, but like you have to look at it from the other perspective. That's the eeriest thing you could have left behind. Truly. Not just like a note that says like, welcome home.
Starting point is 00:55:17 But like you have to know what you're doing, right? Like that's an in, I mean, you can't be, I mean, I guess you can be that unhinged to think that's normal. But like, I don't know. Like what do you? I have no idea. It's like those people who leave fake skeletons under their crawl space. Oh my God. Stop it with that.
Starting point is 00:55:32 You're going to give someone a coronary and it's going to be me. And then I'm going to send you the medical bill. But I'm not because I'm too nice for that. Well, fun fact. One day Chip decided to open up the frame to clean it and he found a picture of the youngest Murphy child hidden behind the ride. I was like, I promise this was some sort of like channeled message to him. him about something and there you go. Oh my gosh. Fun fact, he has sense because he he reframed
Starting point is 00:55:55 the picture in a new frame where now the picture of the daughter and the poem are side by side in this frame. And he actually, he has hung it by his front door at every home he's lived in. Hey, all of a sudden it's sweet. I love that. Chip coffee. He's, you know how to alchemize really creepy people's behavior. Breaking barriers. Breaking barriers. Into like your own magic. That's kick ass. He's everything because I was really letting you ride that wave of thinking it was horrifying. Because it is. It really. Because it is objectively from the start. And then he found a way to say, don't do that. Let's bring love into this. That's what I love. Yeah. It's like, you know what? This has been given to me and I don't really have a choice here. So let's just fucking go with the flow.
Starting point is 00:56:36 And honestly, it's my dream to fucking find an old photograph inside a creepy frame. Like, hello, that's the dream. That's my dream. Well, um, so it's funny you mentioned Zillow earlier because when the family moved in, I guess they were under the impression that they did officially own the house. But then the person who helped them sign their mortgages or whatever ended up realizing, hey, did you know that even though this family lived here and all the family members died and technically there's nobody left to own this house, there's actually a missing son of theirs who, if he's alive, actually is the official owner of the home. and we don't know where he is, but you have six months to try to find him and let him know.
Starting point is 00:57:22 And if you can't find him in those six months, then the house is yours. Yeah, try tipping that on Zillow. That's not one of the tags, you know, when he looks at the tax. He probably comes back one day going, I'm looking for my frame. Where is it? I've cleaned it for you, actually, and polished it and reframed it. That's the chip coffee way. He's like, fine, fine, fine.
Starting point is 00:57:41 As long as you didn't show my sister's face again. Oh, no. So while they are trying to figure this all out because they're like, oh, shit, we have six months. So they're putting classified ads everywhere trying to find this guy, which is really honorable of them because I feel like my family would have been like, let's just hope he doesn't show up for six months. Well, I was going to say, why did they have to fucking look for him? It does feel like it shouldn't be hit their job. But is that the like deal?
Starting point is 00:58:08 But also like how do you check up on whether. Maybe that was just how it was back then. I have no idea. That's just how it was. If you found a house, go find the movie. the house and now find other people to take it from you. By the way, there is a creepy poem on the wall and it's for you. Like what?
Starting point is 00:58:25 So they went looking for this guy. Fun fact, they never actually found that guy. So they ended up keeping the house. But while they were looking into the family to figure out what this guy's name even was, they learned that two of the kids that lived here died either in or nearby the property. One definitely in the property, one nearby. And so while they're making these discoveries and realizing that people have died in the home, all of a sudden, activity starts picking up in this house. A little overdue if you ask me, because everything else...
Starting point is 00:58:58 After finding the girl's picture, I'd be like, yeah, where are the ghosts now? I'd be like, just show yourself, babe. I'm so over this. The portal already welcomed me inside to meet you. Where are you? You're like, you're supposed to say surprise now. Surprise. That's like the part. It is the part. I don't know what she's thinking. So she likes the, like, the, like, she likes the, like, like the fashionably late movement, I guess. Oh, yeah, yeah, true. So lights start turning on and off.
Starting point is 00:59:21 The piano starts playing by itself. They start feeling cold spots in the hallway. And then this was during Christmas, so they had like these pine cones in a bowl as decoration. You know how that is. I know how that is. To this day in 2026, like pine cones, obviously are the move. Nailed it.
Starting point is 00:59:37 One of the pine cones. Oh, shit. One of the pine cones starts levitating in front of him in his stab. Oh, hell yeah. This is a quote from Chip Coffee. He says, I remember the pine cone incident perfectly. My dad and I were sitting down and watching TV at Christmas time. There were all these decorations and glittered pine cones.
Starting point is 00:59:56 I knew it. Literally, it was meant for him. All of a sudden, one of them lifted about six or eight inches above the television, floated suspended midair for a few seconds, and then dropped back down perfectly in place. My dad and I turned to each other a little wide-eyed, didn't say a word, and went back to watching TV. That's how de rigour it was. That lit, first of all, thank you for that. And second of all, what a life to live.
Starting point is 01:00:23 It's like Adam's family. Like, oh, not another thing, you know, not another, yeah. Also, did you just hear someone knock? Yeah, well, is that me or you? I think it's housekeeping. Hang on a second. This just done, folks, bras are uncomfortable. And sometimes sports bras are also uncomfortable.
Starting point is 01:00:41 I mean, they're uncomfortable in a different way in that, you know, they're not as supportive or even though they may feel a little more comfortable, they might still be kind of suffocating or feel like a compression garment or something like that. And your mother liked a bunch of my videos on TikTok.
Starting point is 01:02:08 So something is in the fucking air. She can, like, smell that I'm making fun of her on the air. She's like on the airplane. Like somebody's talking about me. But also, what was I going to say? 202 portal. I don't remember. It doesn't matter.
Starting point is 01:02:23 The point is, oh, yep. Okay, here come the comments. I'm turning my phone off. Yeah. No need to read that. Bye. Okay. So anyway, where are we?
Starting point is 01:02:33 People are going to have big feelings for a while and then I'll give it a shot. I'll give it a read. I've only seen a nice, I mean, what? Oh, good. I don't think anyone. I don't. think anyone's good be whatever we'll see i i i hope all as well and everyone is very happy for you and understanding and and everyone be nice everyone be nice to both of us um okay you don't have to be nice
Starting point is 01:02:56 to me you can do you can do whatever you have to be nice to me you have to be nice to m you have to be okay you have to be it's the rule or else i'm going to bring those two random men back in here and they're going to turn the internet off man it couldn't get scarier than that at the end of a sentence about two random men. I just had to say two men. That was all it's like, where are we? Yeah. Hmm. I don't, uh, apparently, still here.
Starting point is 01:03:21 The pine cone falling. Oh, God. So the pine phone call, pine cone falls and him and his. The pine cone calls. Pine cone calling. Ring me. Pine phone. Pine phone.
Starting point is 01:03:34 So, uh, Chip says that the family never felt in danger there, but they knew that the Murphys were there and they were just like happy to share the space. I think that's like an actual quote from one of his interviews. But because of the activity growing, the family did bring investigators in just in case to make sure that they like weren't crazy. And the investigators got EVPs of a little girl, an older man, a piano playing and a train in the background even though trains don't go through there anymore. Oh, that's cool. When the coffees ended up moving or when they planned on moving, they were like, oh man, we're really going to miss the Murphy's. And so they straight up invited the Murphy Ghosts to follow them back to South Carolina.
Starting point is 01:04:14 Oh my God. Wow. So they really were close. I guess they were like, well, we feel like this is, you're safe enough, I guess. And he, well, also he took the picture. So it's like if you take the picture, I feel like you kind of have to invite them along. You can't really leave them there without the picture. They're like, that's the one thing we had left and now you're taking it.
Starting point is 01:04:32 Yeah, it feels like you kind of can't do like separate them in a way. Well, so they ended up literally inviting them. as they're moving out going, if you'd like to come with us, you're more than welcome to. Just be nice. And shortly after moving in, they, they, one of his t-shirts, one of Chip Coffee's t-shirts that was lying on the chair, levitated into the sky and fell back down. And the family was like, okay, well, they came with us. Sick.
Starting point is 01:04:58 That's awesome. Wow. They're like, we can do it. We can do it. So now the coffees and the Murphy ghosts are all living back in Spartanburg, South Carolina. And as soon as they move in, previous residents of the house come by and say, we used to live here. Can we check out the house? And the guy walks around the house and is telling them stories about when he was a kid there.
Starting point is 01:05:21 And then he looks at the family, the coffee family, who also have their own ghosts that they've just invited into the building. And this man says, have you seen anything strange since you moved in? Shut up. And he says when he was a little kid, they used to. to see a huge shaggy creature with thick, heavy hoof prints, and he called it the wang doodle. I rebuke it again. I don't know if you heard me the first time. All of this is out for me.
Starting point is 01:05:52 Thank you so much. Well, what's extra horrifying about this is that right before this guy showed up on their property, Chip Coffee's parents had been seeing really heavy, thick hoof prints in the ground. Oh, my God. And they're like, oh, nice, a horse. I was like Oh God What have I been petting
Starting point is 01:06:13 This whole time Jersey devil in our forest Holy fuck Fuck and it later became a thing Where like Chip coffee Would hear this monster I don't like that Trying to break into their house
Starting point is 01:06:24 At night Or was like walking around Really heavy And moving things around On the porch And every When he would go out there later And see what was going on
Starting point is 01:06:31 There would always be heavy Huff prints in the front yard I just can't abide By any of that Horrifying So So anyway, that's his like young childhood. All of his experiences up to this point had him really hooked on leaning into the supernatural, obviously.
Starting point is 01:06:48 It was normalized in his family. They had the Murphy ghost. He's got this wangoodle he's dealing with. Not another wangoodle. And he taught himself tarot. He got prescriptions to paranormal magazines. There was a soap opera that he loved that we need to get into called Dark Shadows, which was apparently like... Yes, I've heard of that.
Starting point is 01:07:07 Oh, you have. Okay. Well, perfect. believe so. Well, he was obsessed with that. And then he started actually telling what. Sorry. Yeah, I definitely know dark shadows. Yes. I need to get into it then. He started telling some of his close friends that he could trust that he was able to predict events before they happened. And by 10, he was giving his friends private readings. That's amazing. I remember that fact from one of the psychic kids episodes. And I was like 10. Yeah. So cool. I remember when Deer just got in,
Starting point is 01:07:38 Deirdrigan into taro and would make us come over so she could do readings for us, but also she was like 12. So who knows, she could just be making shit up. But it was, I know. I wish I had the balls to actually make stuff up. Like then I would have been doing this years ago. You know what I mean? Like I just can't commit to the bit like that. Like I can't like boldly like I would just be giggling or make it. But yeah, that that that feels like something powerful that you could do as a kid. Just make it all up. Oh my God. Especially before the internet. No one can even fact check. No one can fucking fact check you. Sporkel comes around or whatever the fuck it was called. Or ask Jeeves or Yahoo! Chah. Oh, yeah, Chachaw. So these close friends that he felt like he could share that with, they were awesome. They encouraged him to keep it up. And then his parents also had two family friends that were into the supernatural.
Starting point is 01:08:26 And they also normalized it and made him feel like he could go through dealing with this and learning about it. And one family friend actually had a husband who passed and Chip knew it happened before anyone else told him. because fun fact in his family they have the coffees have this thing we're like oh if you see a dove in the house and it flies diagonally across the room it means someone you love just died can you imagine that happening enough fucking times where you're like literally i was about i'd go okay but like think about it like think about seeing you get and then think oh no maybe i maybe that was something else you know like how do you can't there's no like there it's not like oh did i hear a knock or no maybe i was imagining it you know like you're like oh fuck yeah the sideways dove is back yeah oh shit the second it flies diagonally i i and also bye if i just saw a bird in my house i wouldn't even have time to think is it a dove
Starting point is 01:09:23 I just be like, how the fuck do I get this bird out of my house? I think you'd be the dead person. Yeah, I think so. I wouldn't see it hit the other side of the room. I just go, faint, yeah. Well, so I guess they knew that one of the family friends who is all into the supernatural, her husband was sick.
Starting point is 01:09:38 And then he, like, saw a dove in the house and it flew diagonally. And then his mom called him, and he was like, I already know he died. So crazy. The dove told me. By the way, his mom, I know I said that his mom has her own psychic gifts. I need to tell you, it's very quick, one of her own experiences where apparently she predicted Elvis's death because she had a dream of Elvis's mother, which how did she know who she was? Well, I think she was probably pretty famous.
Starting point is 01:10:07 Elvis's mom? Really? Am I stupid? I don't know. Elvis was so effing famous. I guess I know. I guess I know what Justin Bieber's mom looks like. Right. Exactly. Or like, I don't know. People know what like Taylor, I mean, I don't really know, but like Taylor Swift's. I don't know. Like, Jonas brother's dad? They know Yeah, I mean.
Starting point is 01:10:26 His brother, they know Frankie broke Franklin Jonas. They kind of all look the same to me, but. Well, apparently Elvis's mom
Starting point is 01:10:34 appeared to her in a dream and said, you need to help someone needs to do something or else Elvis is going to die in his bathroom of an OD seven days from right now. No.
Starting point is 01:10:46 And, wait, that's so sad she was trying to find somebody. And honestly, like, intervene. I wonder, was she just trying to find anyone with those abilities and went to whoever could hear her?
Starting point is 01:10:55 Because Chip Coffey's mom later told him, like, I just had the stream. And Chip Coffey was like, why would Elvis's mother come to you? What is going on? But then seven days later on the radio, they heard that Elvis died in his bathroom of an od. Apparently he and his mother were very, very close. Oh, that's so sad. After. Okay, so he graduated from Dorman High School, Chip Coffee did.
Starting point is 01:11:26 He graduated from Dorman High. He was really into theater there. He did acting, producing, writing. And after high school, he ends up going to Elmira College where he got a degree in counseling and psychology. While he's not actively being a psychic, I mean, he has the abilities, but he's like not Chip Coffee yet. He's really into theater because he was in high school. He's worked for many theater companies. including kids music theaters. He worked as a social worker. And now he's a travel agent. This is very important.
Starting point is 01:11:56 What? So he becomes a travel agent. And up until this point, he's only been able to access some of his abilities. He's really not told anybody about it. But then while he's working at this travel agency, he gets tight with a co-worker. And this is when the floodgates fucking crack open for him.
Starting point is 01:12:13 Oh, boy. Oh, boy. He is, uh, he has a coworker named Pat. We love Pat. We love Pat. we love Pat. Pat is his co-worker at the travel agency and she's really into like the mystical mediumship stuff. By the way, this whole story coming up that I'm about to tell is from his book. But he talks about another interviews too, but it was it really well. What's his book called again?
Starting point is 01:12:34 Growing up psychic. Okay. So out of nowhere, he's like hanging out with Pat and he knows that she's into this stuff. And then out of nowhere he hears a voice in his head of a man saying, tell Pat high for me. And it keeps happening. and he's like, this is, he's like, I don't know what the fuck is going on here. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. He's like, I don't know what's going on, but there's like some voice telling me, tell Pat hi for me, and he's saying this to Pat. And because she's open-minded to it, she's like, what else
Starting point is 01:13:03 is it saying? And then he gets that it's, it's a guy whose name starts with a T and he's like, like, Tommy or Tony or something. And then Pat goes, I had a brother named Tony who died in a car crash. Gasp. And so Chip runs with it.
Starting point is 01:13:19 Pat is so about this. She's like, tell me everything. Chip runs with it and says that he feels like Tony didn't actually die in the car crash. And then Chip starts feeling this pressure in his head and a pop. And Pat said, yeah, Tony wasn't a car crash, but he had a brain aneurysm while driving. And that's what caused the car crash. No way. See, that's, and that's what he, like, to this day can do.
Starting point is 01:13:41 Like in these places. It's amazing. It just started out of nowhere. Like, he was like. It's amazing. He then got the number six, which I think was. how many like hours or days or weeks he survived in the hospital. He was able to get that Tony the last time he saw Pat, they went out for ice cream together.
Starting point is 01:13:59 And then he was able to say, oh, as, you know, Tony saw you, Pat at the ICU the night before he died. And Pat said, that's not true. Tony was in a coma. He never woke up. He wouldn't have known that. And then she said, I guess he said something to the effect of like, Chip heard Tony say like, know I was there you little shit or something and that's like how he used to refer to his like sister. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:14:23 Yeah. Yeah. And so then Pat was like, well, ask him what I was wearing since he had those eyes open. I was about to sit. Yeah, yeah. And Chip immediately saw in his eye, in his head like the tablecloths in Italian restaurants like the gingham red and white check. Oh yeah. And that was the type of dress she was wearing.
Starting point is 01:14:40 Oh my God. So this was the beginning of Chip Coffee's mediumship abilities. Another time that happened very early on was at his dad's funeral. he actually saw his dad who had both of his legs, even though he was an amputee. And he was able to say, like, take care of your mom for me and then vanish. But up and like, that was the first two times anything like that had ever happened. Wow. And after this happened, Chip was like, oh, shit.
Starting point is 01:15:05 Well, I guess like I have some new powers kicking in. Like, I'm going to do some, as a side hustle, do some readings for people while I'm at the travel agency. But then 9-11 happens. Oh, that'll put a damper on it. Yeah. So all of a sudden, no one went to travel. So his job as a travel agent was no ma's. No ma.
Starting point is 01:15:25 Yeah, no more. But he remembers actually talking to himself at, I don't know when on this day, but on 9-11, I guess he knew his fucking career was over. And he went, well, I guess I'm a full-time psychic now. Like, he's like, wow, this, yeah, wow, that, yeah, I guess that's where you got to go now. I'm just going to fall back on that. So to gain traction, he started going to conferences and conventions and he met other investigators. That's how he met an investigator named Patty Starr, who took him on overnights and all this kind of stuff. Many creepy things happened on his first overnight with her were like the other crew member's phone started ringing.
Starting point is 01:16:05 And it said Chip Coffee was calling them, but he was nowhere near his phone and did not have their phone number. And he was not using his caller ID. And he was like, I would know better than anybody. His megaphone. Yeah. He's like, I would know if I were calling. He looks at a phone and goes, me. Also at one of the look at that same location, I think.
Starting point is 01:16:24 No wonder he calls himself so many things. Oh my God. It all makes sense. So he basically, also on that, on that investigation, by the way, he saw a little girl. And then days or weeks later after they all left that house, the owner of the house was in there now. and his phone started ringing a lot. And every time he answered it, it was a little girl on the phone saying,
Starting point is 01:16:49 oh, I want to play with Chloe. I want to play with Chloe. Where's Chloe? I want her to come downstairs. And he realized after like two or three phone calls that this little girl was talking about his dog, Chloe. And he talked back into the phone when she called a different time. I was like, I want to play with Chloe.
Starting point is 01:17:08 He said, are you talking about my dog? And then the line goes dead. that is so spooky i don't like that whatever was there knew how to use a phone multiple times freaky so okay um through working with patty who was the one that took him on all these investigations and all that we love that we love that uh she basically said um oh i have this like kind of gig like uh a and e has a show coming out called airline no or with a airline or with Airline. There's a show called Airline, and they want us to come on for a spot.
Starting point is 01:17:46 It was like in its third season or something. And this is the Southwest show. So, man, man, man, I need this man's birth chart. I got to look it up. This is an amazing story. He really just stumbles into some cool shit. So it's amazing. Allegedly this was his first ever TV thing as a psychic.
Starting point is 01:18:04 But again, I looked everywhere for it. I could not find this episode. But from this episode on Airline, he found out that, A&E is doing another project soon called paranormal state. Oh, yes. Oh, yes. Oh, yes. Where he did over 30 episodes for them.
Starting point is 01:18:21 He does vouch. He was like, I always went in there totally blind. I have no idea what was going on. If you're wondering if that was all fake and phony, like I'm telling you I was as authentic as can be. For those who don't know, paranormal state is a play on Penn State because the show followed students from Penn State investigating people's houses. but I have to tell you, like, I just did not care for this fucking show.
Starting point is 01:18:47 Yeah, yeah. I'll get into that. I don't know that I ever watched it. Like, I'm like, I know what it is, but I don't think I ever watched it. Basically, Penn State students go into people's town and Hauses. I don't think that I want to watch that, though. In 20 minutes, they not only investigate the house, but also, like, decide that there's a demon every time and then, like, are able to call Lorraine Warren, Warren on fucking
Starting point is 01:19:07 speed dial, and then they bless the house. I'm like how, like this is obviously A&E money. Like there's no way you just know Lorraine Warren and she's just stopping over all the time in Pennsylvania on on the same day that you're there. So anyway, I watched. You mean like it feels too produced or what? It was very produced. I'll get into it in a second. Hang on.
Starting point is 01:19:26 Okay, okay, okay. But I watched two episodes of it that were specifically about him. One was his first appearance on the show. You mean chip coffee? Chip coffee, sorry, yeah. Okay, okay. I watched two episodes of Paranormal State. the first one I watched was actually just episode two.
Starting point is 01:19:41 That's the first time Chip Coffee appears. The other one I watched was the following episode, episode three, because Chip Coffee in an interview said that that was the scariest thing that ever happened to him. So I wanted to watch both of them. Now, the thing that he said was the scariest thing that ever happened to him, quote, he heard a very masculine, guttural, demonic sounding voice come out of the body of a three-year-old little girl. That was not in this episode.
Starting point is 01:20:06 So I think someone put the wrong source with that quote. So I ended up watching that for nothing. But then the one where he had his first appearance, I did watch that. And I was going to talk more about paranormal state, but it was honestly like, I'm sorry. Like I don't doubt Chip Coffey's abilities. But watching that show maybe now because it's 2026 and we've both done stuff with TV before and we've both done stuff with ghost hunting and cameras. Right.
Starting point is 01:20:34 Right. Yeah. It's just like such a goddamn joke. I'm sorry. Like whoopsies, it's a joke. Chip seems to be fine. I trust that he was trying to be as authentic as possible, but the host felt very shady to me. And then I found out after watching those episodes that he was later arrested for fraud and theft and scamming people out of money. Whoopsies. Oh, that's right. That's that guy. Yeah. Yes. Ryan Buell. Buell.
Starting point is 01:21:00 That's right. I remember I got into a rabbit hole one night. That's why I know about that, because I went to a rabbit hole, my snark channels. You see some sometimes. they get a little weird and I remember being in that rabbit hole. He also maybe lied about having cancer and then like he, I remember that too. He had, he was hosting like some sort of paranormal convention and taking that money from fans instead of actually creating the convention. He allegedly paid for treatments, but we don't even know if the cancer thing is true.
Starting point is 01:21:27 And I say that because it sounds like even his mom didn't know about his medical situation. And anyway, the show seemed very fake. also Lorraine Warren making an appearance so much was odd to me and what was also odd to me is how many times they were just loosey-goosey letting people host extracisms in there I was like I thought the Roman Catholic Church is so odd about this and like so hush-hush about this but now we're just filming it for fun multiple times and in one episode he oh and the one that I ended up watching that I didn't need to
Starting point is 01:22:00 episode three there it was literally like it was clearly like a family like struggling and like there was clearly maybe some like depression going on or something oh i've seen this episode He was just calling them dirty. I was really like disturbed by some of the commentary. He kept calling them dirty and then said the only thing that like you're haunted and it's your fault because you're bringing in this energy. So it's your fault that this is happening. And the only way to fix it is to clean your house to like show that you're trying to create order in your house or something. But like it was just very odd.
Starting point is 01:22:33 He was like one of the big challenges of tonight is going to be having to step around all their stuff. And I was like, ew, what is your deal? Yeah. No, he like there was a one of. episode about like mental health and I was like, yo, this is a child like really struggling or something. And like he was just like getting so pushy. And I was like, this has bad vibes. Yeah. He also claimed at like 23 that the Roman Catholic Church personally calls him with paranormal cases. I was like what are you fucking talking about? I just didn't understand. Well, Lorraine Warren shows up. So I don't know.
Starting point is 01:23:02 Yeah, shit. I don't know. So I don't know if it was him or the producers, but they were also making like the storyline seem like like one of the big things we need to know about this host in every episode is that he's attached, there's a demon attached to him and the two of them were in cahoots or some shit like that. I don't know. It was very odd. So anyway, Chip Coffey was there. The guttural thing did not happen.
Starting point is 01:23:20 The voice, that did not happen. But he does over 30 episodes of the show. He's actually even gone on to interview saying that his relationship with that guy is kind of rocky. I would imagine it would probably have to be at some point. But while doing this, A&E's crew noticed how kind he was to the victims, Chip Coffey. And they asked if he wanted to do another project, which led to, a documentary called Psychic Kids where Chip would mentor children with abilities.
Starting point is 01:23:47 Oh, it's so good. And after the documentary came out, they got thousands of families asking for help. Like literally they got like 6,000 applications for kids with weird experiences. And so it ended up becoming a whole show. And then after psychic kids, the show came out, Chip was asked so many questions nonstop over and over again about what to do with your kid if they have abilities. so that's when he decided to write growing up psychic. I love that.
Starting point is 01:24:14 And now we're in the epilogue. Since 1983, he has lived in Atlanta. He has done paranormal reading tours called Coffee Talks, which I love. When not working, he actively turns his mediumship abilities off. A quote of his is, I'm not running a Hampton Inn for the dead at my house. This is in Grand Central Station. And I went... I'm running the Hamptons in my...
Starting point is 01:24:38 I'm in, what's the one you just said earlier, Faldemak or whatever? Fondelac. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Wow. So he works with many. Is that in Wyoming? I said it was, wait. I don't even.
Starting point is 01:24:53 Well, I know, but now I have to make sure Fondelac. Oh, thank God. It's Wisconsin. Okay. Well, he works with many charity organizations and animal rescues. On his website, he lists all of his dogs that he calls his beautiful girls. And some of them have passed and some of them. or current. Oh, angels. The one spirit that he always hoped to see was his mother. And after
Starting point is 01:25:14 nine years, he finally saw her for just a few seconds. I said this earlier, but he's very big on his faith. He says it's very helpful in his work. He believes that all of us have abilities. He says that being psychic is, quote, accessing information or energy that you cannot gain with your other five human senses. Yes. That's exactly. And like it's, I think it's silly to think we only have five senses, right? Like, yeah. Six cents, sure. Yeah, right. But like, yeah, senses of like, like, we have all sorts of like spidey senses and like being watched and like discernment. Yes, true. So yeah, I totally agree. He believes we all of abilities. It just depends on how accessible it is for you. He believes in karma. He believes in reincarnation. He believes
Starting point is 01:25:58 that we should all be present and grateful in each life. And one of the reasons we don't know our other lives is to be able to focus on this one. He believes that we should all. all intend to help others and do good. He is not afraid of death. He says that death is not the end. And he's quoted saying, while I'm not terribly afraid to die, I'm quite content hanging out for now in 3D.
Starting point is 01:26:19 Hey, thank God. Don't go anywhere, please. He doesn't claim to be 100% right in his readings, but he loves what he does. And I wanted to end on this fun fact, specifically for you, Christine. This is a quote from him. He probably wouldn't let his kids use a Ouija board.
Starting point is 01:26:35 You know what? But I'm just saying. I'll take that into consideration for 0.5 seconds. Okay. And then you just... Also, I wouldn't let my kids hold a butter knife. So like, what the fuck? I, like, I...
Starting point is 01:26:46 Yeah, I would also not let my kid use a Ouija board. Let me put that out there. Because my kid is Leona and she's going to do something really fucked up to my house. I feel like right now she's just downstairs with the Ouija board and like a random She really could be. It's starting to make me wonder. I'm like, wait a minute. Has anyone checked where the Ouja board is?
Starting point is 01:27:03 But, yeah, I also wouldn't give my kid like most of a little. items, you know? So it's like, I guess it depends on how old they are, but even then, it's like wait till the frontal lobe is formed, right? Like, I mean, I didn't. Like, I didn't. Like, I didn't. I didn't. I was using one as a child, but, you know, just saying. And I regret nothing to be clear, to be super clear. Oh, we don't, we are not. You have, you have regrets. You've had regrets about that for a long time. Uh, well, okay. So I'm, I, I, I know it was long, but I wanted to give you something to, to smile at just in case, you know, things weren't very smiling today. But, yeah. I appreciate it. Yeah. Yeah. I.

And I got it from Wayfair.
Starting point is 01:28:59 It's very, very cute, very witchy, very spooky. I feel like underneath the right thick ceiling beams, real or fake. It would look incredible. and by the way those beams are also on Wayfair. But now it has been moved into what will be the spook easy of our house. And I'm not allowed to see what they're doing in there. Allison and her parents have been working on that day in and day out. And I know that the fireplace has become like the centerpiece that they're working the whole thing around.
Starting point is 01:29:24 So I'm very excited to see how it turns out. Wish me luck. I'm hoping it's going to look as spooky as promised. I will take pictures when I finally can see what's going on. Starting point is 01:30:01 Okay, so today I have a very short story because I, it's a long story. So what I did instead was, old faithful I pulled out a haunted road atlas next stop and I opened to a random page and it was Boise, Idaho and I thought to myself, oh boy, see. I was going to say it if you didn't say it. I did not think that. I didn't think that to myself. You didn't think that on your own organically in the exact moment that you saw Boise? It's crazy. You know, I wish I had. But my story here is the Boisee murder house. And so I was like reading this and I was like, what the hell? And so then I I mean, I remember the story, but I was like, I wonder if there's any more information. That being said, it is like an up-to-date story because I checked.
Starting point is 01:30:40 So I'm going to tell you the story. And also insert some of my, some of R because you're, you have some of the best little, um, this was like, I literally was like, this is one of the best like little comebacks, you know, the blurbs. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. So let's see.
Starting point is 01:30:55 This is a place called either the murder house of Boise or the chop chop house. Oh my God. Which I feel like is very distaste. And like, uh, hmm, depend, like, you'll see spoiler alert. What's going to happen here? Okay. Uh-huh. So built in 1910, it has a history, uh, of just a really gruesome murder. So on June 30th, 1887, there, these two men who were living in the home, um, in like this matter of, it was almost like a, it's so disturbing. It reminds me of like, it's like a close call. Uh, we'll get to these two men ended up killing a 21-year-old man named Preston Murr in the basement of this house
Starting point is 01:31:39 before then dismembering his body and hiding it throughout town. Whoa. And like different parts of him throughout different parts of the city. Just like scattered. Jesus. Yeah. Christ. Okay.
Starting point is 01:31:54 So we're not sure like how the, this is one of the frustration points for me, at least researching it. It's like we don't know what the altercation was about. or what happened. But around midnight, 31-year-old Darren Cox, 37-year-old Daniel Rogers ganged up on this guy. It was 1987. And they shot him in the shoulder. Out of a movie, he, like, makes a run for it, escapes the house, starts banging on the neighbor's door.
Starting point is 01:32:23 And then as the neighbor is like going to check what's going on, he just hears the banging, turn into shouts of, let me go, let me go. as the person is being dragged away from the front door back to where they came from. Oh my God. And I had a blurb to say about this at some point? No, well, to be fair, it's not on this page. Oh, my God. It's not on this page. I need a drink water.
Starting point is 01:32:47 I'm sorry, my throat is so dry. Here, I'll drink with you. By the way, this is the third beverage of the, I just realized this is a third missile. That's so ADHD of you to just have cups and cups and cups with the same sticker, by the way. What is wrong with me? crappy when you've just got a bounty of clubs. That's how I'm so scrappy. I've just got them everywhere, you know? I guess so, actually. You're right. I'm trying to fall in love with this the way my mother's in
Starting point is 01:33:12 love with this, and it's just not, I think you got to cool it, like, not cool it like you. I mean, cool. You're too fucked up. Hey, you're fucking God. Back away from Mount Olympus. About the iced tea. She bought it at Costco, okay? I really believe that something like that happened. She bought it from like greek dot shop or whatever okay so this is horrifying like this is out of a horror movie so this guy runs next door starts banging on it after he's already been shot the neighbor
Starting point is 01:33:42 is approaching the front door his own front door hearing like in the middle of the night this guy banging like saying help help and then the screams for help turn into uh let me go and it's like getting farther and farther way and he does not open the door like good that's the right thing to do however he and he does call the police so he does everything right okay but the police are like eh we're not worried about it of course and it's like a man was just dragged screaming from my home um but to be fair like what's he going to do so he calls the police he goes to bed now he probably had a weird night of sleep i don't know i would but i would uh but what the next morning was it was rough.
Starting point is 01:34:29 He opened the front door to find blood everywhere. So he hadn't realized, right? Because it was the middle of the night, he just heard the bang. He didn't open the door. He just called the police. They were like,
Starting point is 01:34:38 we're not worried about it. He was stabbing or something. He didn't know the guy was bleeding. And so he had been shot. But yeah, so he sees the front doors covered in blood. And he's like, uh, uh-oh. I hope the police responded last night.
Starting point is 01:34:54 They didn't. by the way oh this is the blurb let me say it because it is on the next part i i wrote here the following morning the neighbor woke from what i imagine was a sleepless night to find his front door covered in blood to which m says which 100% caused another sleepless night and then i wrote and hope hopefully the end of his lease so that's our fun little banter we take it where we can you know yeah exactly so anyway he he calls the police um again and is like remember how I called you last night? Like did you come out here?
Starting point is 01:35:28 Because it's not looking good. And they're like, uh, we didn't, but we're going to come out now. So they arrived to a gruesome site. Not only is this guy's porch and like front stoop cover and door covered in blood. There's a trail of it,
Starting point is 01:35:40 right? Jesus. No, it's horrifying. And no. Is it just the two of them that they're only, those two apartments or whatever? Like is nobody else seeing this trail of blood and calling the police again?
Starting point is 01:35:51 No, it was just there were several houses, but it was just like from the porch. I guess nobody would have seen it. It went back to the basement door of this other house. Oh, it's so sinister, man. It's so sinister. Went all the way back to the house at 805 Westlinden.
Starting point is 01:36:06 Rogers and Cox had dragged Murr, like screaming back into the basement before firing a final fatal gunshot to the back of his head. And of course, as if this isn't already like just horror movie gruesome enough, they, like I said, dismembered him. They used an axe and they cut him into 26. pieces and then they wrapped them in plastic, loaded them into the car, drove to the Idaho Oregon border and scattered them throughout like the reservoir there. And it's just so sick, man. And approximately one week later is when these pieces started to be recovered.
Starting point is 01:36:45 So Cox was sentenced to six years and Rogers was sentenced to life without parole at the Idaho State Correctional Center. The house has had a lot of residents, including men, college students. So they're, it's Boise State University and it's very close. It's not technically campus housing, but it's often used as off campus housing. And like I wrote in here, like imagine being in the basement like for beer pong or something. It's like somebody, you know what I mean? Like it's just like I don't think that house could have any good.
Starting point is 01:37:18 I don't know. I'd be really weirded out by that. You know like way too far in the future when it's like not even something people care. about it's going to be like just some crazy old lore that they tell oh yeah yeah yeah and it's gonna like it turned into some like really dramatic yeah i mean it is already dramatic but you know what i mean did you see there's a there's a tic talk of some a guy who lives in the house that ted bundy used to live in and he like poses himself in like the infamous pictures of ted bunty in the house like recreate the picture to be like look how fucking eerie this is and it's so weird because like the house
Starting point is 01:37:54 has not changed 1% since Ted Bundy lived there. It looks like he just walked into a place that's still currently owned by Ted Bundy. And it's so weird to just see like, like, there's a picture that everyone knows of like Ted Bundy like by a fireplace like holding his girlfriend and he like redid it. It's like so creepy. I don't know why I brought that up. I'm sorry. But it's just made just this just made me think of that where it's like. No, but you're right. It's like this like this. It's like, well, we talk about like what is your thing? Would you wear the shirt? of a murderer or whatever or something. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:38:26 Because like, yeah. And you know what? Some people are probably like, yeah, I don't care. And like for them it literally doesn't matter. But for me where I'm like, I care, it's like, well, now it matters. All of a sudden I'm like, it's got energy. It's got something on it or, yeah. So I'm sure they weren't like using this also as a selling point when like renting this place out.
Starting point is 01:38:44 I don't necessarily think everybody knew this. But like you said, I'm sure there was some like lore or whatever. Okay. So while most residents have not. reported like outright hauntings beyond like the place is so creepy. There were a few incidents. So one former resident claimed that being in the basement for more than a few minutes was so unbearable because of the dark oppressive energy that you like couldn't handle even
Starting point is 01:39:09 staying down there. We know what that feels like in certain places. Another recalls canvassing the house one night after hearing what sounded like a crashing break in to the house. And he left the house to like can't. like case the building to see if like anything had been broken into. And when he looked back at his own freaking house, he saw a big black oily looking thing in the bedroom window,
Starting point is 01:39:40 quote unquote. And the shadowy figure moved from the window toward his bedroom door and vanished, then reappeared on the porch and was reflected in a mirror that like he had on the horse. He's explaining every little detail that happened here. And then passed through his body. What the fuck? Oh my God. This is where you're, you wrote, you wrote, what does it call it? What do we call it? A blurb. A blurb. You wrote, if a ball of sentient oil passing through your body doesn't, I've been thinking about this all. day. I'm sorry. I know I'm so distracted, but I've been thinking about this quote, this blurb all day. All day. If a ball of
Starting point is 01:40:34 sentient oil passing through your body doesn't unsettle you, take that big ass red flag and get away from me. And I was like, well, I've been thinking get that big ass red flag away from, or get, take that big ass red flag and get away from me. Like, because then you started saying like, walk through the, open the door and walk through it and all that. And like the red flags. It sounds like he's just kind of waltzing by this thing. And it's not. not affecting him at all. It's sort of like he's like, yep, then it did this. And then it did this. And I'm like, I stand by what I fucking said.
Starting point is 01:41:04 I'm like, if you're just okay with that, then like I can't be near you. Then it's like you should be. It's the same thing though. It's like, then you should be living in that house. Because clearly it doesn't fucking phase you any bit. Not for me. Not for me. But the fact that like you're like, I heard a break in.
Starting point is 01:41:19 Then you leave the house, look around and see someone in your own bedroom window. Forget it. And then a ball of oil or something is inside of your body. Yeah. Yeah. Like, if that's the afterthought of the story, like, we can't hang. Like, it's just not going to. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 01:41:35 Oh, my God. Okay. Apparently, at least as a publication and as least as far as I could check on Google Maps, the house still stands. There are some looky-loos that like to go there and take pictures and see if they can, like, get anything in the windows. You know, don't trespass, please. I'm so, what was the name of that creature that Chip Coffee just so lovingly referred to?
Starting point is 01:41:55 Oh, the Wangdoodle. The Wangdoodle. Durgaher, Durgaher, how do you say that? The wangdoodle, yeah, I just feel like, don't trespass. I just feel like, I just thought of the hoof prints. I don't know why that came to mine. She had a lot of words, man. Yeah, what's happening?
Starting point is 01:42:12 I don't know. If you do go look at it, you know, take pictures, but just stay out or the wangduddle will get you. The wangduddle, she's going to eat you up. Yeah. So that's my story of the day. I'm sorry, it's a little bit scatterbrained, but. No, no, no, no. Things just keep happening, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 01:42:29 The life is life in, as the kids say. Life starts coming and it don't stop coming. Wow. Now that sounds like some sort of prophetic message, actually. I'll tell smash mouth. Okay. Actually, don't because I think they're like not great. No?
Starting point is 01:42:43 Oh, what a shame. Wait, that's sugar. Wait, that's sugar ray. I don't know, maybe smash mouth too. I hope. Yeah, are we surprised? But I'm not surprised. Smash mouth problematic.
Starting point is 01:42:53 My favorite thing to type in all the time is this problematic? is this problematic? He got mad when someone threw bread on stage, so maybe he's not canceled. I would fucking love this and would throw me bread on stage. Oh my God. People have thrown way scarier shit at us on stage. They have, yeah. And we're podcasters. Okay, anyway, that's all.
Starting point is 01:43:19 Okay, great. I will say the only update since then that involves Boise is I've been there and eaten potatoes and they're pretty good. But I totally forgot about this story and I did not remember the sentient ball of goo. Yeah, I think you wouldn't have gone anyway. And also I think you wouldn't have really enjoyed it because I think it was just, it's just a side road. And like, you just have to like, it's not anything that exciting.
Starting point is 01:43:47 Since we have a sense of a second to chat about it, this is a little ball of whatever. Do you think it was also sticky because that would fucking ruin my day on top of everything else? He said greasy. Oh, God. And somehow that's worse. Because then greasy, you know what greasy does? It gets sticky because stuff sticks to the grease. And then suddenly you got sticky grease.
Starting point is 01:44:08 And if you're wearing any clothes you wear are fucked. Although, I will tell you, I just last night I got grease on a sweatshirt that I just bought. And so I went to the kitchen of this restaurant. I just stood there. I just waited for somebody to come out. With those swinging doors. And I went, might you spare some? Don dish soap from your dishwasher
Starting point is 01:44:28 because dishwasher soap gets the grease hot and they were like, did you get grease? Yeah, yeah, yeah, let me help you. Like they were so quick to be helpful. And just like, I think they just wanted to desperately squirt someone with a bottle of soap like in a cartoon because they just went right on me. And then I scrubbed out and it was good.
Starting point is 01:44:46 It was lovely. So I would need a whole lot of Don dish soap if I ever ran into this fucking ball. Yeah, you'd be like one of those ducklings. Do you think it was shiny? I mean, yeah, because I think he said it was shiny, didn't he? He gave a very, do you have a problem with his description? I am forgetting most of it.
Starting point is 01:45:05 Once I heard that it went inside of him. I said so many words at once and they were all like really dramatic words, to be fair. It went inside of him. And now I lost the pain. I didn't miss that, right? Greasy, oily. It went past through him. You know your first fucking plan of action out to go to a doctor and like, what if that stuff is in you?
Starting point is 01:45:23 Like, what if it's like poison? M's like, M's like fucking spinning out about this like medical malady that doesn't exist. How do you explain that to a doctor? I'm like, can you just do an x-ray? And if there's a lot of grease out of nowhere, can you just, it looks like there's been an entry path. And they're going to just like put, what, like put squirt dawn down your throat? Like, what do you want?
Starting point is 01:45:43 That's a good point. I guess I'm just stuck in this. You're going to be a duckling again. Ugh, it would be terrible. Oh my God. Oh my gosh. Well, what are you doing tonight? You hanging out with that little Leon of yours?
Starting point is 01:45:52 Uh, um, yes. I am. Hanging out with that old Gigi or the kitty cats or all of them, all of those stinky furry creatures. And yeah, live in the dream just another Thursday. Well, I guess. Have fun on your travels. Thank you. I'm trying to knock some of these things off my list.
Starting point is 01:46:15 So we'll see how far I end up because I do have to get home eventually. But I'm just doing another road trip. And as far as I can get is as far as I'll get. So, wow, that's beautifully put. And like, it, wherever you are, you're already there. Wow. Hey, you should write that down. You should put that on a shirt. They don't stop coming and they don't stop coming. You know what I mean? I know it. I know. And you know, we know and the sentient ball knows. Um, oh, it knows all. Yeah. Um, okay. I, I guess I'll catch you on the flip-flop, cool cat. See you next week or whenever I, whenever I see you, whenever I'm done traveling.
Starting point is 01:46:50 See you next. Yeah. See you when you get infinite. mosey your way, mosey your way home. Okay. And that's why we drink.
