Apple has acquired Prime Phonic, the Classical Music streaming service headquartered in the Netherlands. Apple Music is planning to launch a classical music app next year, combining Prime Phonics classical user interface with more added features. BMG revenues have grown 5% in the first half of 2021 as recorded music sales rise 30%. Universal Music Group's majority owner has announced that Pershing Square Holdings, run by Bill Ackman, has committed to buy an additional 2.9% of UMG for over $1.1 billion. After being hit with an exclusivity ban by China's state administrations of market regulation in July, Tencent Holdings and its majority-owned music-armed Tencent Music Entertainment
Starting point is 00:01:13 have ended all exclusive deals held with global labels in China. Warner Music Group has inked a global licensing deal with the social platform Quay Show. Primary Wave has acquired a majority stake from the Gin Blossoms catalog. YouTube Music has officially crossed 50 million paid and trial subscribers. TikTok has teamed up with Macro to launch an incubator program for Latinx creatives. Caroline Williams has been appointed executive VP at RCA Records. Abba has returned with a motion capture London concert series. and a new album for quarter four.
Starting point is 00:02:02 YouTube Music will be sponsoring this year's Women and Music Awards, which will return as a live event at the Park Lane Hilton in London on October 22. Warner Music's ADA UK has signed a global distribution deal with the record company Never Seven. Warner Chapel Music has appointed Natalie Madai as its new SVP Global Digital. Medi is set to take on the new role in 2022. PPL is partnering with Viva Sound on metadata to improve accuracy of credits and royalty payments. The joint initiative will make it easier for performers to be properly credited on recordings and to receive the payments that they're entitled to.

Fabiana Kulik has joined the Live Nation concerts team as head of Latin marketing. Coolick will lead marketing for Live Nation's expanding portfolio of Latin tours.
