Starting point is 00:00:00 Longest third leg on the Cowboys. Longest third leg in the world. I'm pushing, but I am not lying. How many ladies in the hotel? CTE. CTE. I can't recall. Are you hot?
Starting point is 00:00:19 You're not hot, right? I'm hot, yeah. Hot, but not hot as in heated. But you're hot and ready to go. Sexy. Shit. I'm glad you said it. You can say it as a man.
Starting point is 00:00:34 It's okay. It shows your manhood that you can look at another man and say, you're a sexy man. With the three piece. Of course, yeah. It just means a sexy man. So true. You mean some I mean? Of course, yeah. You know what I mean? Just me and the sexy man. You know what I mean? Tell the truth. Tell the truth.
Starting point is 00:00:48 You mean some guys are just so sexy you have to acknowledge it? Yeah. Yeah. You know, think about it. Yeah. Let's think about it. What do they say? Tall, dark, and handsome.
Starting point is 00:00:55 I am he. I am he. Okay. Let me stop messing around. Who's the sexiest man though? Who's the sexiest man, though? Who's the sexiest man? Yeah. Hottest dude.
Starting point is 00:01:09 Second to you. Who would you call? Like Idris? Idris? Idris. Idris is a joint, man. And sexy. You have to be cute.
Starting point is 00:01:23 No, no, no. Be cute. No, no, no. You don't have to be cute. No, no, no. Sexy. Yeah. Sexy says, you look like a man. You walk like a man. You talk like a man.
Starting point is 00:01:34 You're a man. Yeah. That's the sexy thing. You know what I mean? So Idris is number one? Yeah, Idris. Idris is my boy. That's why I heard people say you kind of look like Idris, so I got to put him up there.
Starting point is 00:01:44 Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know what I mean? They do that. But yeah, I would, so I got to put him up there. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know what I mean? They do that. But yeah, I would consider him a sexy white guy. Hottest white dude. Oh, yeah, yeah. Who's the sexiest white guy? Hottest white dude.
Starting point is 00:01:51 Sexiest white dude. In this room. Brad Pitt is a sexy white guy. That's a sexy motherfucker. That's a sexy white man. He's a sexy white man, dude. Brad Pitt is a sexy white man. Over Brady?
Starting point is 00:02:05 Over Tom Brady? Yeah. No, the other Brady. Well, he said that. Yeah, yeah. Absolutely sexy to Tom Brady. He's sexy to Tom Brady. You're not impressed by Tom Brady.
Starting point is 00:02:14 No, no, no, no. Tom's a little goofy. No, but Tom, I always say this. I measure men in distance travel. Right. So in distance travel, I'll give it to Tom. Okay. Because when I saw Tom, that first picture coming out at the combine,
Starting point is 00:02:30 that does not look like a man that should get that wife. He earned his wife. If somebody had taken you and put a picture of Tom and any other quarterback stuck there, that first picture, and say, go get your family. Y'all got to bet every dime y'all have on which one of these dudes will never make it in the NFL. Everybody will put every dime on Tom.
Starting point is 00:03:02 Yeah, that's true. So distance travel from that to where he is is sexy. And I don't know how he done got to look as good as he looks, you know, from where he was. You think he got some lip fillers or something like that? You think he got the Brazilian butt lift? No, I think he got a lot of pocket fillers with those Super Bowl wins. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:23 And for some reason, for some reason, money always makes you sexy. It makes you look better. It does. Go back. You weren't always this sexy. Go back to the early Eddie days.
Starting point is 00:03:38 Oh, Eddie looked good still. Eddie looks good now. When Eddie first started out, he was like 17. That was a boy. And then he came into a yeah but he was like 17 that was a boy damn it is sexy when eddie was broke he was all right yeah yeah rich and all got the right clothes on damn he's sexy beverly hills cop 2 eddie was a sex piece. Yeah, he was a sex piece. I love Eddie, man. That's a funny dude. Yeah, 100%.
Starting point is 00:04:06 Have you met Eddie before? I don't think I've ever met him. Really? I don't think I've ever met him, but I would love him. This guy's doing a movie with him right now. Yeah, yeah. What is it like working with Eddie, man? It's fun.
Starting point is 00:04:21 What's that, man? What was that for? He's not as social as you. Let's say that. the hell is going on? He's not as social as you. Let's say that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's not as social as you. And he's in his own world, man. You've been famous since he's 18 years old.
Starting point is 00:04:32 Yeah, he must be. I know. He's always been the most famous guy since he's 18. So, like, it's... People get uncomfortable around him. You know what I'm saying? Right, right, right, right. Because he's 80.
Starting point is 00:04:42 Yeah, and we could have been uncomfortable around you, but you came in with so much energy and positivity. I don't want to kill that. I want to kill that. You want to kill that. Don't talk about sexy guys. Yeah. That's why I'm coming, and that's why I want to kill it
Starting point is 00:04:52 to make the real, you know what I'm saying? Everybody, and it's just out of respect. You respect somebody. But also, you got to fight for your normalcy. I'll give Seinfeld credit on this. Like, apparently, like apparently like seinfeld makes people treat him normal like if he asks you to go get coffee right and then you don't call him within the month to go get some coffee he goes hey stop being weird i asked you to go get coffee right
Starting point is 00:05:15 right right call me back oh you think he's just being nice he's really trying to go let's be friends yeah but when you're with someone famous what's up can i get him closer to the mic oh why don't you mind up his mic game he is but you're gonna hear you what's up can I get him closer to the mic he's been minding up his mic game he is but you're going to hear you guys I just want him if we can yeah Michael we don't have those fancy lobs on ESPN I got you I don't mind I don't mind putting this thing close to my mouth
Starting point is 00:05:35 like you might put something in my mouth we over here talking about sex and men and then you want to stick something in my mouth I got issues with all that make sure y'all ain't trying to get me with that sorry thank you though I got a pretty big voice. I never heard anybody say it. He doesn't want to fuck up. Yeah, he doesn't want to fuck up.
Starting point is 00:06:00 You're absolutely good. Don't worry about it. We got it. Okay, where were we? We were talking about hot guys and putting things in your mouth. Yeah. And then what happened, dude? What happened to this podcast?
Starting point is 00:06:10 Like, we're usually, you know, talking about, like, girls in sports and stuff like that. I like that. You changed the game. Yeah, dude. Listen, man, I didn't change the game. We just had a natural conversation. I don't know how we got there, right? We were just bullshit.
Starting point is 00:06:24 I don't know how we got there. You're the were just bullshit. I don't know how we got there. The greatest, dude. No, no, you were saying I look good, and I was just saying we got to be good. Don't put it on me. You were saying you look good. Don't put it on me. You were saying you look good. Okay.
Starting point is 00:06:36 However, I got to get it out there, right? Put it on me. He came in like, people say I look like Idris. I don't know what to tell you. He said I'm a sexy mom. It's all good. Michael, you know that you got a family member. This is Dallas Cowboys.
Starting point is 00:06:56 Born and raised in Dallas. Can I tell you, you are my favorite athlete of all time. My favorite athlete. Not just cowboy, athlete. I appreciate you saying that. I really do. My favorite athlete, man. Not just cowboy, athlete. I appreciate you saying that. I really do appreciate you saying that, man. I'm sorry we look like we looked yesterday though. God, man, that game.
Starting point is 00:07:12 I don't care. You got me three Super Bowls. I'm sitting next to you. I appreciate that, man. I don't give a fuck about Dak right now. And you know what's so funny right now? We haven't won one in 30 years, right? And when I was, you know,
Starting point is 00:07:22 listen, man, okay, okay. Since we all family, I can share this. You know, I was a young buck, man. I was a young buck, man. I was winning you know, listen man, okay, okay, since we all family, I can share this, you know, I was a young buck man, I was a young buck man. I was winning them Super Bowls. Yeah! I was young, I came from the ghetto of Florida, I'm the 15th or 17th kid, ain't never had nothing, right? Never had nothing.
Starting point is 00:07:42 So I went to Super Bowl. So what? I took a little friends of mine and we went to a hotel room and had some fun. Why we had to make that a big deal? So what? You didn't say to them, no. They took me through all of that. We ain't won a Super Bowl in 30 years. I said, I bet y'all will leave me in that hotel room now.
Starting point is 00:08:02 Do what you want to do, Mike. Just come on out and give us another damn Super Bowl. We ain't had one in 30 years. Let's go. I bet you'llall will leave me in that hotel room now. Leave me alone. Do what you want to do, Mike. Just come on out here and give us another damn Super Bowl. We ain't had one in 30 years. Let's go. I bet you'll take it now, right? See, they were busting it up. You can't do this. You can't.
Starting point is 00:08:13 Right? Coming in now, I thought, listen, we understand. Just finish and get back on the field. Because we ain't won in a long time. Talk that shit. I bet they'll take that shit now. I bet you. Feed the man. Give the man what he Talk that shit. I'm not going to take that shit down. I'll bet you not. Feed the man.
Starting point is 00:08:26 Give the man what he needs. No, I'm just joking. No, you're not. I'm worshiping. I'm just worshiping, but I'm not lying. I mean, I'm delivering it in a humorous way, but it is the MLM. It's a Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. That's the gospel.
Starting point is 00:08:44 That's the gospel. That's the gospel. How crazy. Everybody would do, when you go to these cities, because I get to travel to all these cities to do games. Yeah, yeah. Dude. And women.
Starting point is 00:08:55 Whatever the NFL team is. Yeah. Whatever the NFL team is, is where the city is. Yes. You know, team doing well, see the heart, spend a lot of money.
Starting point is 00:09:08 Team doing poorly, sit it down, ain't spending no money. And it's been, you know, we've had some times in Dallas and I say, dang, man,
Starting point is 00:09:16 God ain't gonna let you, you should have just left me alone. I wouldn't bother nobody in that hotel room. Left me alone because he don't like that thing. How many ladies in the hotel room. There's nothing there alone. How many ladies in the hotel room? CTE.
Starting point is 00:09:29 CTE. I can't recall. CTE. This is where you can use certain things to your advantage. This is what you do. Right there. That's what I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:09:45 It's so funny. That's what I'm saying. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, my goodness. Hey, it's so funny. I meet people all the time. They be like, Michael, we met. Do you remember? We met. We met.
Starting point is 00:09:54 I said, met where? It was at one of those. I said, CT. I don't remember none of that shit. I don't remember none of that. No, no, no, no. What's your name? Put me in, no. What's your name? You put in a dollar.
Starting point is 00:10:07 What's your name? Put a dollar in his head. What's your name? I said CTE. I don't remember none of that. I took two minute hits. Okay, so no hotel memories. No, not hotel memories.
Starting point is 00:10:22 He had his own house. It wasn't a hotel. It was his own house. It started out as a hotel. It started as a hotel, but that got memories. No, not hotel memories. He had his own house. It wasn't a hotel. It was his own house. Well, it started out as a hotel. It started as a hotel, but that got expensive. It got expensive. I appreciate somebody who's a bargain hunter. I don't want to sound like it was an all-the-time thing when I say it got expensive.
Starting point is 00:10:34 Yeah, yeah. It just got expensive. Yeah, just expensive enough to buy a house. That's it. Yeah, please. I think I can tell you this. Why it got expensive is not that it was an all-the-time thing, but it was, I'm 100%-er. Yes, yes, I'm aware.
Starting point is 00:10:47 That's what I am. Best way to explain is I'm 100%-er. And when you got me focused on one thing, I can go hard at it. When I was on something else, I can go hard at it. Yeah, 100%. 100%. So I had to leave the hotel because what happened was, yeah, yeah, yeah. I wouldn't just stay in one room.
Starting point is 00:11:09 Oh. Right, right, right, right. So I would have 101, 201, 301 right by the elevator. Right, right. So I'm up in 101, 201, and so I'm in 301. And I don't elevate. Can I tell you where I lose a little respect? Just put him in one room.
Starting point is 00:11:29 No, no, no, no. No, no, no, no, no, because there are different people in the game. There are people in the game now. And I would say this in my young years. These are my young years, folks. Don't take it now. My young years, I would come off the football field. Yeah Well, I was double team
Starting point is 00:12:06 Go find your corner go find your corner. Go find your safety. Go get your double G and come on back. I'm just joking. I'm just joking. I'm just joking. It's comedy. It's comedy. It's a comedy podcast. I get bullshit, but I ain't lying.
Starting point is 00:12:19 You are not lying. Not one lie has been told. That's true. Yeah. Not one lie has been told. That's true. Not one lie has been told. It was crazy, man. There was so many hotel rooms that got expensive. Y'all bought a house. So get this right.
Starting point is 00:12:32 So after, oh my God, man. When they called me. Yeah. When they called me, we went to court. Get up on that mic, Mike. And we went to court, right? When they called me, the district attorney had all my hotel records. Right.
Starting point is 00:12:47 I don't know, man. Yeah, yeah, yeah. What's that about? He found them all. And every time, and these are true stories, every time I checked in, y'all know the owner was Jerry Jones.
Starting point is 00:13:00 Yes. The head coach is Jimmy Johnson. Jimmy Johnson, yeah. So every alias was Jimmy Jones or Jerry Johnson. I crossed up the two names. You know what's fucked? There was a player named Jimmy Jones. This poor guy in all kinds of trouble with his wife.
Starting point is 00:13:16 He was in Miami too. That was selfish, yo. That was selfish. He was my boy. He was my boy. He crossed up their names, you know. He did. He was my boy, man. Jimmy Jones was my boy. He crossed up their names, you know. He did. He was my boy, man.
Starting point is 00:13:28 Jimmy Jones was my boy, man. He was a good dude, man. But yeah, I used those names, man. I shouldn't have used those names. I think what I gave it away is when I kept pulling up in all my cars, my Mercedes, my Bentleys, and I was sneaking around, but them motherfuckers had Playmaker all over them. And Mike Irving.
Starting point is 00:13:47 So, hey, I'm rolling. Maybe I should have taken another car. You know what I'm saying? So, that's how. Sneaking in the hotel with the hood on. Name on. Oh, my God. So, that's how we got to the house.
Starting point is 00:14:01 Yeah. It's so funny. I remember Leon Lett called me one time. Leon Lett called me, he said- Big Cat. Big Cat, thank God. Big Cat great dude, man. He's a defensive line coach for the Dallas Cowboys now.
Starting point is 00:14:14 He called me and said, playmaker. I said, what's up big fella? He said, hey man, I heard we've been infiltrated. You need to close down the White House. I said, this ain't no damn movie. They said, yeah, you been watching, but you ain't closing down nothing. I'm with you. I'm not closing down the White House.
Starting point is 00:14:32 Right. So a few weeks later, I'm sitting in meetings. I'm like, here, we getting ready for games, putting in the plays. Jerry calls me over to the room, calls me to the office. I said, what? I said, what? I said, come on, man, I'm meeting. I said, how you doing? He said, no, he over to the room, goes to the office, I said what? I said what? I said come on man, I'm the leader. I said I get it. He said no, he wants to see you now.
Starting point is 00:14:48 Yeah, I went over, I said what's up boss? He said Michael, there's a story breaking about some White House you had. He said, you know what I tell you now, as long as you tell me the truth, I fight for you but you gotta give me the truth what's with this story how much truth to it
Starting point is 00:15:12 I was stuck for a minute I just kind of think okay he said tell me the truth I'm gonna tell you the truth he said what were you guys doing here I said boss let me tell you we were trying to do the wrong thing the right way. That's beautiful.
Starting point is 00:15:28 That's beautiful. That's a beautiful answer. It's true. We were trying to do the wrong thing the right way. Yeah. Try to stay out of trouble. Yep. A little money.
Starting point is 00:15:38 Yeah. Who has to? I thought it was a brilliant plan, actually. You know, a couple guys throwing a couple hundred dollars every month. And we got use of a home, big old house, five-bedroom house. It was laid. It was laid everywhere. Now, and it worked for a while.
Starting point is 00:15:53 It was laid everywhere. Because we were like, okay, we don't want to have all these cars. We will park somewhere else and everybody will shutter over. You know, shutter over to the house. So we've been in the house without all these cars because we pick up a neighborhood with older people. Yeah. You don't want to upset the homeowners association. Man, but then you know,
Starting point is 00:16:11 it's like all plans. As you go through it, everybody started drinking and alcohol. And then you just, everybody start parking at the house. You say everybody and you exclude yourself from everybody. No, no, no. You weren't doing any of that at the White House? No, the drinking, none of it? No, no, no. I was the house. You say everybody and you exclude yourself from everybody. No, no, no. You weren't doing any of that at the White House? No, the drinking? No, no?
Starting point is 00:16:27 I was the president. No, no, no. I'm not excluding myself. I was almost free. You and that room. You and that room. I'm just joking. I'm just pushing.
Starting point is 00:16:42 I'm just joking. I'm just joking. I'm just bullshitting. But I am lying. Oh my God, dude. Let's stop. Let's stop. Yeah, be serious. Be serious. Nah, don't stop. Don't stop. Can't stop, won't stop.
Starting point is 00:16:56 It's good to be able to just talk about it, man. Yes. When you're young and crazy. Now, I'ma tell you, I wanna whoop his ass. Oh, Michael. What you wanna do that young? I wanna whoop his ass What you want to do that young man who appears a Michael my money on some crazy thing you got them girls anyway You need experience with the women. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:26 That's part of it. Yeah, I had that and I'm a lame. And honestly, it's part of the old, like, you know, old days back in the Coliseum when the Warriors got the women after they won. The Gladiators. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's what it was. So, you know, that's kind of how I looked at my sick head.
Starting point is 00:17:47 Now, you guys are the toast of the town of Dallas. Was it insane during that run? It was crazy. The amount of girls coming up to you guys, you couldn't even walk down the street? Yeah, and you can't even, when the Cowboys were winning, and everywhere we went now, this was everywhere we went, we had to. When we get
Starting point is 00:18:06 in the city, we would say we're going to stay at this hotel. Of course we would have to sit on a lot of dummy routes on the routes we were taking if people wanted to line up and wait on you to ride by on buses. And no matter what, they always found the real hotel. They always found
Starting point is 00:18:22 the real hotel. And the girls would always be there, man. They'd be waiting. They'd be waiting at the hotel. Yeah, found the real hotel. So, so, and the girls would always be there, man. And just, they'd be waiting. They were just waiting at the hotel. Yeah, the big cowboy fans, the cowboy fans, just waiting outside the rooms. We worship them in Dallas. But like they would just find out what room you're in and then just wait outside the rooms. Well, they can't get on the floors because we had security on every floor. Yeah. Yeah, security on every floor.
Starting point is 00:18:47 But they would be waiting outside. And of course then, you know, we were trying to get those floor plans at a hotel. I tried to get them around, but I couldn't find the floor plan. Ocean's 11 bitches. That's who you had. Right. Get me the floor plan. How can we sneak them through?
Starting point is 00:19:04 Can we get them through? Can we get them through this vent? Mission impossible. Right, right. Yeah, no, I was pretty focused on football. I had, for some reason, I had messed in my own head that I don't wanna weaken my legs before a game. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:21 You know, so I was pretty good before games unless you were, you know, I.A.N. What is that? I.A.N. Columbian or
Starting point is 00:19:30 Italian. I.A.N. I don't know what he's saying. Okay, I'm just putting it What about Caucasian?
Starting point is 00:19:39 Caucasian. Yeah. I.A.N. All right, I better stop. I better stop I better stop never that's why I like doing stuff like this
Starting point is 00:19:52 we just cut loose of course dude it is fun it is fun do you remember your wildest night ever I want to know what the wildest night was
Starting point is 00:20:00 don't say CTE don't you ought to use your CTE card. He remembers now. I remember them all. Things I forget. Not those things.

It went from a hotel to an apartment and then the house. I just didn't hear about apartments. But we had to get out of the apartments because we were making too much noise and too many people were complaining.
Starting point is 00:23:27 So that's when we needed to stretch out a little bit. But I was in the apartment. And let me tell you the system I went through and what I figured out. So I would always work hard. And we always started training in March, right? First, second weekend in March. My birthday was March 5th.
Starting point is 00:23:43 So I said, that worked perfectly. So we go to Super Bowl February. From February after the Super Bowl until the second weekend in March. I had about a good month. A good month. Going crazy. Non-stop. They said, go get away. I got away.
Starting point is 00:23:59 I got away. And one time I was wilding out and I had... Man... You know the number. What are we talking about? And one time I was wilding out and I had, man. You know the number. Yeah. What are we talking about? I had quite a few people with me.
Starting point is 00:24:12 How many? Quite a few people. Double digits basketball. I'll give you double digits. Oh, a jury, yeah. Me with double digit people with me. And Leon Lipp. Yes. Where I would place Leon Lipp. And Leon Lett, where I was placed, Leon Lett,
Starting point is 00:24:25 and I probably was in there for about, you know... 30 hours? Wow! You know how you just going on the run for 30 hours, you got about 10 in with me, and Leon Lett came in, and came in with a dude, with a dude from his hometown, from Alabama. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I said, Catman, what you doing? I don't know this dude, man. I'm sitting up here, maybe, with a dude from his hometown from Alabama. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:45 I said, Catman, what are you doing? I don't know this dude, man. I'm sitting up here in the neighborhood with all this going on. I said, what you doing, Cat? You going to bring him over here like that, man? And then I thought about it. I said, don't worry about it, Cat.
Starting point is 00:24:57 Y'all get a drink. Don't worry about it. Because I looked around and saw the double-digit numbers, and I looked at him, and he was like... That's what I said, Cat, don't worry about it. They get him. He's not telling. He can't.
Starting point is 00:25:11 He gonna say things, but ain't nobody gonna believe you. I said, they gonna say, push the line. You did, you saw work. I said, he all right. He was like this. He ain't believing. So how can he tell us if this is true? He ain't believing what he see.
Starting point is 00:25:19 He was like, you know what? I said, you know what? I said, you know what? I said, you know what? I said, you know what? I said, you know what? I said, you know what? I said, you know what? I said, you know what? I said, he all right. So he was like this. He ain't believing. So how can he tell us if this is true? But he ain't believing what he seen.
Starting point is 00:25:29 He was like, I said, oh, we okay. He gonna tell it. But ain't nobody gonna believe it. He doesn't believe it. I was like, we cool, we cool. So yeah, it was, and then we became boys. We became boys. Yeah, but yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:42 I can say another thing. My boy Mike Tyson. Go talk to him. We can tell you another thing. Hell yeah. About Mike Tyson. Yeah. Talk to him. Yeah. We're in New York. Here in New York. Mike Tyson had really just got out.
Starting point is 00:25:52 Yeah. Just got out. Yeah. And I ran into him. He hungry. Yeah. Yeah. And we were like, hey, man, listen, listen.
Starting point is 00:25:58 I said, we're going to go to dinner. He just got out. I'm still on probation. Yeah. I'm on probation. I just got out of my mess. I just got out. I'm still on probation. I'm on probation. I just got out of my mess. I was still on probation. And we go out, and he,
Starting point is 00:26:09 Michael, man, Michael, yeah. Listen, man, we're at a club. He said, man, Michael, man, you, I heard about you and the pink toes. Yeah, yeah, oh yeah. We know. The pink toes? Just white women, yeah. Snow bunnies.
Starting point is 00:26:25 Pink toes? And white women, yeah. White women. Snow bunnies. Pink toes? And they've been watching. You will tonight. Wow. I am. You will tonight. I said, we will get you over tonight. And we went back to his suite over,
Starting point is 00:26:38 he was over at Trump Tower, he had this big suite, man. And we took, you know, everybody in there. There you go, there you know, everybody in there. There you go, there you go, y'all go. And so we're leaving, we're leaving, me and Mike, me and Tyson, and all our buddies. And sitting there, we're getting in my limo, we're getting in my limo, we're going back to his suite.
Starting point is 00:27:00 T.O. was sitting there. T.O. was leaving the club too, I said, hey man, we're gonna to go to the city. Come on man, we'll get you a ride. Put T.O. in the room, put a car in, we all go. We get back to the hotel suite and we start, you know, doop, doop, doop, doop, doop, doop, doop, doop, doop, doop. T.O. on the wall like this.
Starting point is 00:27:21 T.O. looking around, Mike Tyson, look at the young man, cause he was just a young buck, man. Look at the young buck. The young buck said, oh my God, my career is over. I'm with Mike Tyson and Mike Irving. He's crazy mother. Trio was like, you okay man, you need me to take the, I get my limo to send you home.
Starting point is 00:27:38 He said, yeah. I said, okay, you can take the limo to go home. And then I, I said, you two, y'all ride with him. You got a road game tonight. I said, you two ride with him. He's a little shy. Make sure he's okay in the car. We're on our way home.
Starting point is 00:27:58 Oh, my God, man. We did some crazy things, man. And then Mike Tyson, of course, after a couple of we messing around for an hour, he takes my limo. He said, I'm gonna take the limo and make an errand, run errand. On the way this joker went, man, I'm calling, can you bring back that damn limo, man?
Starting point is 00:28:16 Dude, when that driver got back, he looked like Mike had nothing to give him to hear. I said, where did you go, man? He said, hey man, Mike had me everywhere, man. I said, why you didn't tell me how to get back? He said, tell Mike Tyson what? I said, hey, he ain't got no Mike Tyson, nothing. That's my dude, man, I love Mike Tyson, man.
Starting point is 00:28:42 He's the greatest dude in the world. He had such a big heart, but was so ferocious, man. But I just love the dude. I read a story recently where I think it was maybe one of his trainers or something he was saying that he would sleep with girls before the fight to take the edge off so he wouldn't kill the person that he was about to fight. Like he was trying to weaken himself. Right, right, right. So he wouldn't be too violent.
Starting point is 00:29:07 Hey boy, that's bad. But the fighters are different though, dog. You know, John Jones, a great friend of mine, he's kind of told me some of his pre-fight stuff, man, them fighters, boy, they different. That's why I respect the hell out of them. I respect the hell out of them, man, because I'm talking about, boy, y'all do what you,
Starting point is 00:29:22 whatever y'all gotta do, get your ass in there. Y'all, hey man y'all do whatever y'all got to do. Get your ass in there. Y'all, hey, man, I ain't bothering y'all. Do what you got to do. But you were scared. Like, you would throw down. Yeah, yo, I've read some stories. The Eugene Lockhart story. Oh, that's a great story.
Starting point is 00:29:35 But that's different. Can you tell that story? Because you were kind of sweet in this story. Because you're standing up to a guy that's bullying a team employee. So this is cool. Break it down to it. Break it down to it. And how y'all heard? Who told you?
Starting point is 00:29:46 Sorry, sorry, sorry. You're snitching. I told you, my favorite athlete. Let me first tell you this. Lockhart is my boy. Now. Now? Eugene Lockhart was my boy.
Starting point is 00:29:55 Eugene Lockhart was my boy. You said that. You said he's my boy. I made him my boy that day. He became my little boy. Let me tell you what made him my boy. Let me tell you what made him my boy. When I first got to Dallas,
Starting point is 00:30:09 he was living in this area called High Country. And he was telling me all about it. You know, I'm the 15th or 17th kid. I just got here. I don't have anything. So I was looking for a house. He was saying, can we get a house over in my area? The Highlands. I was like, okay. I came and looked. And I did buy a house over there. And it was great.
Starting point is 00:30:25 And it was great. Still own the house. My daughter has the Highlands. I was like, okay. I came and looked, and I did buy a house over there, and it was great. And it was great. Still own the house. My daughter has the house now. I got plenty of homes everywhere, but it's just different. It's different. When you got 16 brothers and sisters, like I got four or five summer homes in Florida.
Starting point is 00:30:37 I just got some of them Negroes in all of them so they won't leave. Every time I buy a home, they come over and visit. I said, man, this is my summer home. And I said, okay, man, it's time to go now. And they said, well,
Starting point is 00:30:48 we're going to Stasson. No, dude, you got to go. This is the summer home. We're going back here in the summer. Well, we'll stay here until you come back in the summer. I said, it don't work that way. They have done this
Starting point is 00:30:57 in every home I have owned. And I keep on. I own five homes in Florida, and when I go to Florida, I have to go to a hotel. It's a true story. It's a true story. Messing around with my brothers and sisters, them Negroes.
Starting point is 00:31:15 They were all like, man, y'all go home, man. And then it was like, no, we're going to stay here and take care of the house for you. We're going to take care of the house for you. But every day, my office gets a call. We're going to take care of the house for you. But every day my office gets a call. We gonna take care of the house for you. We gonna take care of it. But every day they get a call saying, yo, the water, this is leaking. I said, well, tell them to fix it. You know, they call the office to get the money. In fact, y'all living in the house. They don't do anything. So yeah, family is a whole nother matter.
Starting point is 00:31:43 You ever wish you had half that many children? Yeah. You ever wish you were the eighth or ninth? I wish I was an only child. Yes, but I have to look at it on the other side. I said, you know what? God gave me a football team to live with so I can learn how to lead football team. And everywhere I sit, these feet in the sand,
Starting point is 00:32:06 I have left a footprint of greatness because I am an S brother. What I mean by S brother, when you say, did you win a championship? No, I won championships. I won championships on all levels.
Starting point is 00:32:22 I'm an S brother. All levels, all ships. That's what I call Florida. You own a house in Florida? I own houses. I own houses. I got a lot of Negroes living in my houses in Florida. That's all I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:32:38 But they're my family. Locker. Locker. Locker. That's why God made sure that he made family blood. Because he know you couldn't cut them loose. He said's why God made sure that he made family blood. Because he know you couldn't cut them loose. He said you can't cut them loose. They part blood. That's just the way it is.
Starting point is 00:32:53 But Lockhart made, I got a house over by Lockhart's. And Lockhart was my boy now. Because you got to remember now, I just moved to Texas. I'm coming from Florida, Young Buck. I'm in Texas. I didn't understand all the rules. They were closing down the liquor store. See all the liquor?
Starting point is 00:33:04 They closed them down at 9 o'clock. And I was like, what? I ain't at 9 o'clock. And I was like, what? 9 o'clock? But see, Lockhart Lockhart was like, yeah, man, what you doing? His wife lived right up the street and I wasn't married at the time. I wasn't married. I said, yeah, man, I got a party going, man. But the liquor store closed. Shit,
Starting point is 00:33:20 some Crown Royal and vodka on the doorstep. I'm just coming through and scooping. And he would always look out for me. Now, he may try to scoop by later on
Starting point is 00:33:29 if he thinks he can get some of course a Crown Royal, you know what I mean? But we were boys. We were boys. But that time, this was at his restaurant
Starting point is 00:33:35 when we got into it. Really? I owned the restaurant. That's valid. And he was just, and I was like, man, let's stop, man. You were bullying
Starting point is 00:33:43 the team employees, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I'm not big on that. I'm just not big on that. I love that. I'm not big on taking advantage of small people or somebody that, yeah, I just wasn't big on it. I said, look, you got to stop that, man. I said, I'm not okay with that.
Starting point is 00:33:57 And, you know, yeah. Yeah. So, yeah, I had to just situate it a little bit. Just so he stopped. But he stopped. We got to stop. We were all cool. And we were able to get situate it a little bit. Just so he stopped. But he stopped. We got him stopped. We were all cool. And we were able to get back to it.
Starting point is 00:34:10 And we really got into a little fight at the Cowboys Cafe. Now, I was, my brother, when I was somewhere playing, my brother goes over there because we were playing pool. That's where we used to hang out. They used to wait on us to come back from games at the cafe. Because that's where all the girls were waiting on us to come back from games too. They used to wait on us to come back from games at the cafe. That's where all the girls would wait on us to come back from games too. So everybody was waiting on us to come back. But I would come back, and my brother was over there.
Starting point is 00:34:30 And he got into a fight with somebody right at the Cowboys Cafe. I come back, the fight's over, everybody's gone. A couple days later, I go home. I said, what's this? You're being sued. I said, why are you suing me? For what? Some fight at the cafe. I thought it was Eugene Locke. I said, what's this? You're being sued. I said, why you suing me, for what? They told me some fight at the cafe.
Starting point is 00:34:47 I thought it was Eugene Locke. I said, Locke? Suing me for what happened at the cafe? You joking? I was like, now I looked into it. It was that dude. He was suing me, cause he was in a fight with my brother.
Starting point is 00:35:00 I said, how the hell does that happen? I'm playing football somewhere in another city. What does that got to do? So, yeah, that brought that back up. So, yeah, it was crazy, man. It was crazy. Have you ever been intimidated by someone that you play with? You don't seem like someone that scares easily.
Starting point is 00:35:19 Let me tell you something, though. And I don't. And I don't. And somebody asked me that who, late in the year, late in my career, we signed Alonzo Spellman. I remember him. Yeah, yeah, bipolar.
Starting point is 00:35:35 And this is when Alonzo had some issues. We didn't know then, yeah. And we watched him have some issues and they played out on TV and God bless him and everything, man. But when we brought him in the locker room and I saw him, he was, you know, as long as I'm spelling like six, eight, man,
Starting point is 00:35:49 I mean muscles everywhere, I mean, oof. And dude, whoo, I was like, boy, that's the only dude I ever looked at and said, whoo, whoo, whoo. Coach, you know, that's the only dude that I could say I was truly intimidated with. I walked around real carefully. You all right, big fella?
Starting point is 00:36:10 You know, Lungo Spellman looked like a man, man. He was just, mm. He was stacked. He was stacked. But just probably him. But generally speaking, like, when you're playing against any other team, were there any players that maybe you weren't intimidated by, but, like, you really respected and you didn't you know push them in a certain way see and here is this man world that
Starting point is 00:36:31 we are afraid in uh it was was there somebody that made you the best way we can state it that made you check your courage yes absolutely there was it that makes you... And I always tell people when I'm explaining, they say, well, Michael, you were fearless. Stop saying that. Yeah, yeah. Are you joking? No, I'm not fearless. Courage does not say fear did not exist.
Starting point is 00:36:58 Courage said that fear exists, that you had ability to overcome your fear and go forward, which is a great attribute to have. Yeah. But fear is real. We're playing. I just mean, I said, man, we're playing dudes like I'm playing running lot.
Starting point is 00:37:12 Yeah. Like running a lot. And people think you, you can go run across the middle. Yes. I'm afraid that dude right there cut his own damn finger off to get back in the game to hit somebody. Yeah. You hear his finger hit somebody.
Starting point is 00:37:26 So you can't go back in. Why can't I play? Well, your finger is hanging off. The only way you play is we cut it off. Well, cut it off then. I was going to think he'd just come back and hit somebody. Why wouldn't I be scared? He's crazy.
Starting point is 00:37:41 You know what I'm saying? That's crazy. Of course I'm scared. I'll help people with it. I'll help people because Curry says fear does exist. How do you overcome that fear? You got to put that great fear up against a greater fear. A greater fear.
Starting point is 00:37:57 So every time Troy called 262, that means double slam. I'm running a slam route. And then you break the huddle and everybody's saying, why is Mike on the slam? They know you're running the route, right? They know you're running. But I would line up. I said, damn, I'm running the slant route. And then you break the huddle, and everybody's saying, watch Michael on the slant. They know you're running the route. Right? They know you're running. But I would line up, I said, damn, I'm going to run this route. And as soon as I got in the stands,
Starting point is 00:38:12 Little Michael started talking to Big Michael. Because Big Michael was scared. But Little Michael said, Big Michael, you got to run this slant. I said, no, man. And then Little Michael said, Big Michael, if we don't run this slip, we may have to run back to the ghetto.
Starting point is 00:38:27 I said, you know what? We finna run this slip. I'm scared to go take that hit, but I ain't never going back to Midland. I will go run this slip. I'll put it off against a greater fear. I want to ask you about that because I've heard you say that.
Starting point is 00:38:42 You can't go back to the ghetto. How do you stay hungry after you made tens of millions of dollars? You got two Super Bowls. Because he's kind of climbing. I'm saying by the third time, by 95. Okay, okay. You're right.
Starting point is 00:38:56 Like at that point, you went back to back. Then you lost one year. And now it's how do you stay that hungry when it's I'm the man. Haven't I been telling you about all the Negroes I got in Florida? Did I miss that explanation? You got tenants, bro. All the Negroes are sitting back there. So not I can't go back to the ghetto.
Starting point is 00:39:16 My brother can't go back to the ghetto. I'm going to be fine. I'm going to tell you something, too, man. I always say this. You see Jerry Jones Bill Gates Jeff Bezos people always want to tell you Michael because I leave my house Wednesday to go do the Thursday night game I leave Thursday night game
Starting point is 00:39:31 go all the way to LA to do shows Saturday and Sunday in LA I leave LA Sunday fly out here to do shows Monday and Tuesday then I go back home on Tuesday night and start all back over on Wednesday evening and they said why are you working so hard? I said, because there's no bitches anymore. You got to do something
Starting point is 00:39:48 to fill the time. That's true too. When they say, I don't mind, it becomes a devil move. Keep them busy. I want to stay focused because remember, I'm 100%. I got to keep it in a good direction.
Starting point is 00:40:05 And that's the truth. But look at all the great, the richest people in the world are still working. You know what I mean? They're still working. They're still working. What the hell are you talking about? Stop working. First of all, it's not just about the money.
Starting point is 00:40:21 It's about your mental health. I got to keep, I got to get up and go try to be the best at something every day. It's just a part of it, man. If you don't do that, you're killing yourself. Oh, so you transferred the passion. So you had it for sports. You stopped. Now, did you know this,
Starting point is 00:40:38 or did you learn this after having some tough times when you left the game? Well, when I first left the game, right, when you first leave the game, you realize how lost you are because all your life playing football, everything's been scheduled. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So now you have freedom, nonstop freedom. And regimented.
Starting point is 00:40:55 And it's regimented. And it's not just freedom. It's not just freedom. You rich with freedom. She is. I had freedom when I was broke and couldn't do nothing. Freedom ain't the problem. It's rich with freedom. That yeah, I had freedom when I was broken couldn't do that It's rich with freedom I always I say it this way I gotta be careful. I can't let the kid at me kill the king at me
Starting point is 00:41:23 We all got a kid and a king in us. And the king is our best us. But the kid is our crazy us. You're only supposed to do crazy shit. And you got to let him out sometimes. You just got to keep it to you and yourself. And keep it quiet. Whatever you do, keep it quiet.
Starting point is 00:41:43 Let him out. And then get back to your game. So when did you transition? Yeah, was there like a moment where you're like, I can't keep doing this? When I first retired, dog, and remember I told y'all, I had a system, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:53 And I would be fucking around, getting high, and all season for that month and a half. But when I stopped the training, it was over. I never had a problem until I retired. And then I retired, right? And I said, okay, okay, okay. This will be last weekend. Have a great one.
Starting point is 00:42:12 Have a great one. We done. And I have a great one. And I stumble on it. And I'm running. I do this. Sleep for two days. And that's it.
Starting point is 00:42:21 It's over. And then I, you know, go somewhere. I don't know, go get some milk from the store and run into two or three of them. And then I'm like, what the hell going on, you know? And then I went out again. And I was like, whoa, wait a minute, man. Wait a minute. Why am I doing things after I said it was over?
Starting point is 00:42:39 It always worked before when I said it was over. But this time I kept falling back and falling back. And then that's when I realized, because I had to start studying my own self, that all I was doing was switching addictions. So since I didn't have anything to put my energy in, I couldn't come out of what I was in. And that was a tough thing. That was a tough thing.
Starting point is 00:43:04 So how did you pull out? I had to learn to stop doing all this shit. So that's when you know, honestly, I used to talk about people, how can they not stop? Why ain't he strong enough to stop? You know what I mean? Because you always had football. Because I always had football.
Starting point is 00:43:17 And when I didn't have football, I said, oh, this is the kind of problem that would happen. Oh, okay. So then you got the time, you got some money, and you just kind of problem that you got the time you got some money and you just kind of fell back into it man so once I learned that then I understood what I needed to do and what did you shift the addiction to
Starting point is 00:43:33 work you were like I gotta go in right right and that's why I work the way I work it's an addiction work is addiction so maybe life is addiction you just gotta find the way. Let me put it this way. Maybe success is
Starting point is 00:43:49 addiction. You just have to make sure you put that focus and passion into positive things instead of drugs, all this other kind of shit. Because I relate to that. But now when you say success, happiness is the word
Starting point is 00:44:05 I would put in there. It must be your addiction. What makes you happy? Winning football, championships made you happy. Let me tell you what makes me happy, man.
Starting point is 00:44:14 Winning football was great and I love football and I love nothing. But when I see, when I look at my little granddaughters right now and I say to them,
Starting point is 00:44:23 Papa's going to take care of you from the grave. That makes me happy. You know what I'm saying? Papa will be taking care of you. Papa gonna be dead and gone. But you still gonna reap the benefits of it. So how do you not fall into the trap of like so many athletes

Now let's get back to the show. You can live the lifestyle.
Starting point is 00:47:00 That's not the issue. It's how you get to live the lifestyle. That's the issue it's it's it's it's it's how you get to live the lifestyle that's the issue money is you got to know how to spend your money simple things simple things and and i i talked to young men about this all the time because you got to imagine okay here's a young man he could run up like i grew up with nothing nothing yeah with nothing yeah and then it's not just he grew up with nothing what did he see he saw everybody that had anything around him get it taken repossessed houses cars because they couldn't keep up with payments this always what so now he just didn't I'll do simple numbers he He just got a $5 million signing bonus.
Starting point is 00:47:46 $5 million signing bonus. And this dude wants to say, man, I got $5 million. Here is what he used to get to where he is, what I call sometimes your greatest asset, your greatest liability. He used the poorness around him, the poor and the poverty around him as fuel to make him a great athlete to make it. But
Starting point is 00:48:11 now you use your yesterday to set your tomorrow. But now your yesterday is hurting your tomorrow because when he gets the $5 million signing bonus, he says, I want to get my house. I want to get my cars. So he spends, he buys a $3 million signing bonus. He said I want to get my house. I want to get my cars so he spent He buys a two to three million dollar house say spends a half a million dollars on cars
Starting point is 00:48:34 He's three and a half million dollars. Yeah, and he said I'm buying mine flat out So nobody don't come to our ticket for me like I saw them taking it from everybody else around me Stupidest thing in the world. Yeah You get a five million dollar you said it over there, you go ask somebody, let me borrow $3.5 million against my $5 million, and then I'm going to buy all that stuff I want, but I'm going to leave that $5 million sitting on principal, and then I'm going to make the interest off
Starting point is 00:48:55 that $5 million to pay back the loan of the $3.5 million, and I never touch my principal. So you cannot let the pain of yesterday mess with your tomorrow. Another thing we do, and I learned this from O.J. Simpson, it's called a family skipping dynasty trust.
Starting point is 00:49:11 I learned this from O.J. Simpson. It's called a family skipping dynasty trust. You put all of your family members on the name in this trust. And that's what I got, Irvin Family Skipping Dynasty Trust. Anytime I give money out to anybody in my family,
Starting point is 00:49:29 they get to pay the tax on the money at their bracket. So when we pass out money as athletes, we give to our families all the time. We're paying at our, we're giving it to them at our tax bracket. But you can put the money in the trust.
Starting point is 00:49:42 Yes, it's in the trust when I give it to them. My mom's tax bracketed way different than mine. So I'm going to end up giving her the money to pay for the tax too. But I'd rather, you know what I'm saying? It's these things that causes a man to go. How do you learn? How do you pick these up?
Starting point is 00:49:59 Well, my degree is in business, first of all. My degree is in business management organization. And back then, you had to graduate early to leave and go to school early. So I graduated after my junior year of eligibility and went to the draft. That's how I controlled my draft. Like when Green Bay called with the seventh pick, Green Bay was like, Michael, we're going to draft a receiver right here. And we're thinking about it.
Starting point is 00:50:23 I said, no way, Green Bay. Really? No way. Don't do it, buddy. Don't do it. I'm not leaving Florida for Green Bay. Wow. Really?
Starting point is 00:50:31 It's not. I'm too dark. That's because I like the sun. That's why I'm this black. It won't work in Green Bay. Don't do it. Don't do it. And see, they couldn't draft me because if a team draft you,
Starting point is 00:50:42 I could have dropped the class, gone back to summer school, and they would have lost the draft choice, and I could have applied for a supplemental draft. So I had total control. That's why I did it. I learned that from Bernie Kozar when he graduated a couple years ago. The slowest quarterback in Madden history. I was the brokest dude in the world sitting there negotiating with the NFL.
Starting point is 00:51:01 New Wave, New Wave. I was only going to play in Dallas, LA, or New York. I was willing to give up some ends on the front end because I know I'll make it back up on the back. If you were going to play in New York. For marketing.
Starting point is 00:51:15 I thought this whole time was because you were a Cowboy fan, yo. I'm so disappointed. My dad was a big Cowboy fan. Yeah, yeah. But no, I did. We were Cowboy fans. We are big, huge Cowboy fans.
Starting point is 00:51:25 But I knew I was going to go to Dallas. And then Jimmy, Jimmy came to me, Jimmy Johnson, he said, Michael, he said, I understand what you're doing. I can appreciate it. He says, but Dallas is going to draft you. He said, none of them damn shenanigans. Where Dallas, I said, no coach, that's how I'm gonna play for Dallas.
Starting point is 00:51:42 That's how I'm gonna play for Dallas. I said, why would you think I would do it? He said, I'm just telling you. He said, I'm gonna go play for Dallas. This is a cool story. I said, I would love to go play for Dallas. I said, why would you think I would do it? He said, I'm just telling you. He said, I'm telling you right now because I got an OU buddy, a friend of mine, who's about to buy the Dallas Cowboys. Isn't that crazy? And I'll be joining you next year. Oh, shit.
Starting point is 00:51:57 So you knew it was gonna happen. I knew it was coming. I knew it was coming. I knew it was coming. And Jerry bought the team the next year and brought in Jimmy. Wow. And you've been playing for Jimmy. At the U, yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:10 Oh my God, dog. A couple weeks ago when they gave him his Super Bowl, his Hall of Fame ring. Jimmy. Jimmy Johnson. At Cowboy Stadium. My God, man. Hey, listen. I was right in back of him. He was right there addressing the crowd.
Starting point is 00:52:27 I had just seen Jimmy at the Hall of Fame. You know, he just got in the hall and he was happy and I see what happened. And when I saw him, I ain't never seen him this happy in my life. And I just started crying and crying and crying. I was getting emotional talking about it. No, because I sat there and looked at him, man, like, damn, look at all of this. And the people were going crazy. And I thought about the whole journey and all that we've done together.
Starting point is 00:52:50 And I was like, man, all of this could have been gone if he wasn't a great man that he is. Because I got into shit on my first day in college. I heard about this. I mean, I'm swinging and whipping people's ass my first day in college. I had just got there. And they were playing with freshmen on the table, on the table. Freshmen can't eat. I'm like, dude, I'm one of six.
Starting point is 00:53:12 I ain't never seen a state like this. We ain't even had it. My mom, she would take whatever they had around the house and whoever, what she was cleaning, who she would clean with, whatever food they would give her. And she would put it all in a potty, call it casserole we don't even know what it was but now i had a training table all this food and they were making the freshmen's weight i was like man i ain't wait man i ain't come here to play man i gotta i gotta make some money now so it's so so so this big lineman kept trying to make me wait make me wait and i did i did the first couple times and then
Starting point is 00:53:44 and then he tried to go and order the same damn steak I wanted. Man, I cracked his head with that crank. Wow. It's called Woodward. They took me. This is my first day. They took me to Jimmy's office. And I walked in.
Starting point is 00:53:58 Jimmy said, Mike. He said, son, you just got here, son. You just got here. He said, son, you just got here, son. You just got here. He said, you know, we can't be fighting our teammates, son. We can't do it. And I'm thinking, he's about to send me home, man.
Starting point is 00:54:17 I just got up out of that damn ghetto. But he did. He said, you're a young man. I'm not going to suspend you. He said, I'm going to take it up with my senior because he should have known better not to let it get to that situation. I was just thinking about all the
Starting point is 00:54:33 time that I had screwed up that first year. That wasn't the only fight. That wasn't the only fight. I got in another fight a week and a half later in the weight room with the linebacker. He pushes me because we're changing music. Freshmen were supposed to lift
Starting point is 00:54:47 and we're lifting. Freshmen are lifting. Then they come in early and they change the music. I say, hey man, it's still the freshman hour. We got 10 more minutes. That's it for the freshmen.
Starting point is 00:54:56 We're not doing that. I'm going to switch it back. And then they come and switch. I said, dude, I said, we got eight more minutes. You just killed two of them, but we're going to take our eight minutes. And I switched it back. And then he pushes me. I said, we got eight more minutes. You just killed two of them. But we're going to take our eight minutes. And I switched it back.
Starting point is 00:55:06 And then he pushes me. I said, okay, okay. And they get in between us. Coach comes right down. Calls us upstairs. A private meeting. We got a team meeting. We don't know who held this dick.
Starting point is 00:55:16 We don't know. And I was up there on steam. I'm on steam. I ain't heard nothing he said. What are you talking about pushing me in that room. What? I gotta see this joker. What? It's true.
Starting point is 00:55:30 Hey, Jimmy said, I want both Michael, I want you, and come down in the middle of this right now and shake hands. And I was still on steam, dog. I'm so, I told these jokers, man. I ain't witness. I ain't here for this, man. I gotta make some money. I got like, I'm totally joking, man. I ain't with this, I ain't here for this, man. I gotta make some money, I gotta get my fam like that.
Starting point is 00:55:46 Hell, man, I ain't with this. And a whole while I'm walking down there, he said, just shake his hand. Just shake his hand, like, just shake his hand and it's over. And the closer and closer I got, the harder and harder I got. And as I got close to him, I held out the left hand.
Starting point is 00:56:04 And he held out the left hand, and I held out the left hand. Oh, shit. And he held out the left hand, and I held him. And he was shaking. He was shaking. And I said, oh, you okay? And then knocked him out, broke his jaw and everything. Wow. And then Jimmy called me.
Starting point is 00:56:18 I said, I'm definitely going home. And he called me, and the first thing he said, because he's a big, big boxer fan, he used to bring all the big boxers over to talk to us. He looks at me and said, son, have you ever thought about boxing? So what I was thinking about when he was getting his ring and I saw him so happy and all the moments
Starting point is 00:56:42 and all the things, we won national championship, we won Superbowl, man, we lived a life, man. and I saw him so happy and all the moments and all the things. We won national championships. We won Super Bowl. Man, we lived a life, man. And I said, oh my God, all of it. I could have missed it all if he'd have just sent my rude ass back home. None of it would have happened. And I just couldn't stop crying
Starting point is 00:56:57 because thanking him for just believing in me until I got through that rough time. So obviously he sees great talent in you. That's why you're playing for him. Yeah, he would say, if you're good, you get away with more, right? Yeah, Jimmy would say, yeah, I only, don't, don't, don't, don't, he said, I'm not, don't talk about my fear. Fear says everybody gets the same thing.
Starting point is 00:57:17 Just says, everybody, just says everybody gets what they deserve. If your ass is out here and you're not making a whole lot of plays and I got any kind of problem, get on out of here. But if you make plays after plays after plays, we run into a little hiccup, we can work through that. If you the playmaker. No matter what that hiccup is, we can work through it. Guys, I'm going to quickly interrupt this incredible interview
Starting point is 00:57:40 with the legend, the playmaker, Michael Irvin, because I got to tell you about the infamous tour. We're coming to Florida, okay? Not this weekend, but next weekend, we're in it. We're going to be in Jacksonville. All right. Jacksonville. Make sure you go check that out. We're also coming to the laughing spree fest in Boca and then closing out the year in Boston, new year's Eve and the day before new year's Eve. We got three shows, the Wilbur theater. Make sure you go check that out. Also Toronto things have been crazy keep adding shows wild times uh massey hall shutting us down but we're coming back and we just keep adding shows and you know stuff it in their
Starting point is 00:58:14 stupid fucking faces so toronto thank you for all the love on that plenty more shows up at the andrew schultz.com we added a bunch more shows california uh new orleans a bunch of other places go to the andrewSchultz.com. Check those out. The infamous tour is coming, baby. Akash, what you got? This weekend, I'm going to be at Zany's in Nashville. Cop your tickets.
Starting point is 00:58:32 Hurry the fuck up. December 9th through 11th, D.C., I'm going to be at the Comedy Loft. Come through January 7th and January 8th. I'm going to be in Dallas at Hyena's. Come buy tickets. And also, hit up Michael Irvin. Tweet him. Hit him on ig to tell
Starting point is 00:58:45 him to come through also and you know what let's just get back to that interview but my question is like he sees a talent but there's also something that he sees in you and that's like how to coach you and how to bring out the best of you so i do you think early on he understood, you can't really tell Michael what to do. Right. Jimmy's a psychologist. Yeah. So tell me when you start to realize, like, oh, my God, he knows. Go, go, go, go. You hitting that one here, because I'm going to tell you something.
Starting point is 00:59:13 I was a freshman. When I came in my freshman year, we had just lost two of the top receivers in college football, Ed Brown and Stanley Shakespeare. And I was just a freshman. I'm sitting in there watching film, watching film. And, dude, Jimmy walks by, that psychology part, he walks by and he sees me in there studying.
Starting point is 00:59:32 And this is after we done went through all the fights and everything. And he sees me in there studying, studying, studying. And he said, hey. He said, hey. I said, what's up, coach? He said, you read the papers? Everybody's wondering, what are we going to do?
Starting point is 00:59:49 Now that Eddie Brown is 36 years old, everybody knows, what are we going to do at wide receiver? He said, hey, son, wait till I show them Michael Irvin. Don't let me down. I said, what? That's all I did to him? I'm going crazy. That's all I need to hear I feel you crazy That's it
Starting point is 01:00:06 Oh dog I put on a 50 pound weight vest Go run 70 flights of stairs all day That's all I was thinking about Boy I'ma show him Boy I'ma show him But that He knew
Starting point is 01:00:15 He knew that He knew stuff like Just little things like that To push you You know what I mean And make Bring the best out of you He was great at it
Starting point is 01:00:24 Because there's certain coaches That might see you and they might coach you a different way and then you guys just have animosity. But you wanted to walk through a wall for that guy. Right, and for Jimmy. And he did it with Charles Haley. He did it with Charles Haley.
Starting point is 01:00:35 Same thing. Charles Haley talks about all the time. He said when he got there, that we got Charles Haley from San Fran because Charles Haley supposedly stood on top of the head of the head coach's car and just took out the third leg he has and just watered it down.
Starting point is 01:00:48 Yeah, yeah, yeah. What? Yeah, Charles Haley was the wildest. And when I said third leg, that's what it is. I'm talking about a third leg. A third leg. Longest third leg on the
Starting point is 01:01:04 Cowboys. Longest third leg on the Cowboys. Longest third leg in the world. I'm talking about, I don't watch enough flicks to know, hey, nobody got Chucky. I watch enough flicks to know. Hey, nobody got Chucky, dog. Hey, I'm bushing.
Starting point is 01:01:24 Yeah, hell nah. Hell nah Yeah, I am not lying. I'm telling you right now. Let me stop. I don't want the NFL to take my job. I'm sorry, NFL. This is not becoming what I want to be, man. I'm just sharing old stories. But you were saying, so Chuck came over, and then Jimmy knew how to.
Starting point is 01:01:43 And Jimmy knew it, right? Jimmy went at Chuck one time. Yeah, they went at him. And Chuck was just, and he went in a tank. He went in the tank. And Coach said, hey, come to my office. And he talked to him about it. And Coach, and Jimmy, and Charles said, Coach, you know, I just, you know,
Starting point is 01:02:00 I just, it just bothers me when you witness like that. And Coach said, no problem. Okay. He said, that's how you work, it just bothers me when it's like that. And the coach said, no problem. Okay. He said, that's how you work. That's what I work with. He says, I can work with that. He said, I'll pull you aside if you need me. I don't mind.
Starting point is 01:02:13 He said, I'm glad you're telling me this. That means something to a man. And he says, from that point, Charles said, we never had any problems because that was it. You're dealing with grown men. That's what makes football such a great sport. In most worlds, I tell people, most people, in order to be the best in their world, they're sitting on a computer or designing. In football, in order to be
Starting point is 01:02:40 the best, you have to go through hand-to-hand, man-to-man combat. It's not just about skill. It's also about will. Since it's another man, I got to look at another man's soul who wants to take care of his family, who wants to feed his wife and kids and say, I want it more than you. You know what I'm saying? So it's not just about my skill.
Starting point is 01:03:00 It's also about my will and having a coach that knows how to tinkle with your mind yeah to make sure your will is right it it it it's it's insane in this game makes all difference in the world because it is it is tricky like you want there's certain people that can make you want to give everything for them right right right right right and they just have to be able to like find that trigger how right and how do they do it and that's interesting that he was able to do it and he was able to do it differently for you than necessarily for Chuck
Starting point is 01:03:29 as a lead of a team too I had to find that with the player I'm going to tell you something dude there's a dude dog he's a defensive back physical freak of an athlete and I mean he would be killing it in practice.
Starting point is 01:03:45 And then we get in the game and different things happen. And so I'm like, man, I gotta figure this out, man. And everybody's yelling, let's go, let's go, let's go. And it never really got to anything. So I said, okay, this is what I gotta do. I said, I'm gonna have to spend some time. I'm gonna take some time.
Starting point is 01:04:02 I get in my car. I go over to his house. I go to his house. I say, okay, this is what I'm gonna do. I get in my car. I go over to his house. I go to his house. I say, okay, this is what I'm going to do. I go to his house. I say, hey, man, what's up, dog? I said, man, I'm in the neighborhood, man. He said, yeah, man.
Starting point is 01:04:14 I said, let's stop by and have a drink. He said, all right, come on by. I went by. Dude, he had his little dog. Let's call her Pam and his ham. When I got to the door, I said, man, come on in. Mike, baby, we got something to eat, he said, man, come on in, Mike McBake, we got something to eat, a drink.
Starting point is 01:04:27 Never put down the Pam. Never put Pam down. Then when he got ready to walk me to the car, after we done eating and everything, walk me to the car, never put Pam down. All right, see you later, see you Pam, we're playing with the, man, I got in the car, I said, I got this joker now.
Starting point is 01:04:39 I got him, I got him. See, in order to lead a man, you gotta know what makes the man. What makes the man. Now, the next time we get in the game and he wasn't doing well, everybody yelling at him. And he's really tanking it. He's tanking it.
Starting point is 01:04:58 I just walked by him. I said, hey, man. I said, hey. That's the best you can get, Pam. That's all you deserve. I woke up. Oh, this was a whole new moment. Oh, I'm talking about you dude was killing everybody.
Starting point is 01:05:19 I said, I got him now. That's all I had to do. And any time they got, I just picked up Pam. I said, hey, man, Pam going to need you, man. This is the best you got to give her. You going to be able to take care of her plan. You ain't going to be in the lead long. Woo!
Starting point is 01:05:33 Whole new man come out. You got to know what pulls a man. You know what I mean? Like me, if you would have said, take care of her. Oh, hey, man. All you had to do was say, I thought you said you were going to take care of your mom. You think you can take care of her with this effort? Oh, you got a whole nother effort. A whole nother effort.
Starting point is 01:05:50 What makes that man tick? As a great leader, if you are a great leader, you got to lead. That's what I always tell people. Don't be so quick to want to get in the leadership role. Because you see it as a position of dominance and dominion over people a real leaders real leadership is not about dominion over it's about servitude you gotta serve every you got to get the best out of everybody and bossing people just don't do it and especially today especially
Starting point is 01:06:21 today and you can't just boss people any kind of way and think there's no repercussions. Because they're going to be like. Yeah, yeah. They're going to put all. Excuse me. Yeah. They're going to post about it. They're going to complain about it.
Starting point is 01:06:36 You know what I mean? So you have to be careful even with that leadership. It's about servitude. So who was the best leader you played with? Because I heard you say Troy all the time. But it seemed like you were. I remember whenever you would go out the team would not win we were three and oh when you had your injury that ended the career and then we finished like eight and eight the cowboys say we the cowboys yeah yeah so to me it always felt like you were the heart but everybody else says troy so why was he the better leader well troy troy was the director and and we
Starting point is 01:07:03 needed that we needed that. We needed someone that's straight, like straight, just straight. And Troy was straight with that. That was good. We needed that. Now, I'm rallying the troops. Let's go. You know, Troy's going to come to me, and I'm going to go to the troops.
Starting point is 01:07:21 I'm going to rally the troops. Let's go. And I'll never forget it, even Troy would say this. One time I was hurt and I couldn't practice and we went up to D.C., we lost the game. And on the plane back, Troy said, can I talk to you? And I came back, man, he said, how you feel?
Starting point is 01:07:34 I said, man, my quad, I had to pull my quad. I said, eh, he said, man, I know you're not healthy, but can you just come back to practice? I just said, practices aren't the same without you out there. Even if you, Mike, I know you're not 100%, but I just need you out there because of practicing. You know what I mean? That's leadership.
Starting point is 01:07:54 That's leadership. You have to know what you need for that team and for him to come and say it. You know, I say absolutely Roy, I'll be out there. I'll be out there and make sure. Because I just kept it going in practice I kept it going I love it man we don't want to take all your time
Starting point is 01:08:10 take all your time I've been talking I've been the only one talking we're just so hey man we're just so grateful you came through man big fans over here we want to tell people about the things you got going on. So please tell them everything, all the information that they can get,
Starting point is 01:08:29 how they can consume Michael Irvin in as many ways as possible. And it's crazy, man. It's everywhere. Well, let me get all my social media is at MichaelIrvin88. So that gives you that. But now also, y'all do a podcast. You got to check it out. Y'all pay Michael Irvin podcast. And everybody's in this world now. Got to do it. And I like that. But now also, y'all do a podcast. Y'all check it out. Y'all pay you like we're a podcast.
Starting point is 01:08:46 And everybody's in this world now. Gotta do it. And I like that. I like it because it's a long form. You know what I mean? I mean, it's not just bits. TV, you know, I'm on TV Thursday night football. I'm on TV Sunday, NFL game day or Monday first take.
Starting point is 01:09:02 I get to speak in spurts to people. But when you do these, you get to speak long form with people. That's always incredible. That's why I do enjoy going off the rails.
Starting point is 01:09:18 You're phenomenal. You're phenomenal, man. You're the greatest, dude. This is absolutely great. I think you have a lot of Flavor and Soup fans going to check out your podcast. That's my suspicion. I appreciate that, man. I appreciate it. I see y'all build this thing up and doing it right over here.
Starting point is 01:09:31 Yeah, we're working on it. Even though when I pulled up at this building, I was like, damn. He's back in the ghetto. All them passes I caught on right back in this shit. You know what I mean? All right, man. All them passes I caught on right back in this shit. You know what I mean? All right, but I was thinking it's so funny you say that cause I was, this kind of stuff I tell my lady at home, right?
Starting point is 01:09:51 Y'all know, like, you know, my lady said, baby, can you take the garbage out? Use these hands? These hands that brought you out of the hell hole that you were living in? How would you put these hands upon garbage? Boy, you don't take that garbage. That's okay, baby. I try, but I just, you know, have fun with that thing.
Starting point is 01:10:14 I know Akash said it was mandatory viewing. Yeah. That you watch your Hall of Fame speech. He said it's the greatest Hall of Fame speech he's ever seen. It's the greatest speech I've ever heard an athlete make. I appreciate you saying that, man. 26 minutes, no notes. No notes. Oh, really?
Starting point is 01:10:32 Off the dome. After the podcast, I can see how that's possible. Off the dome. But these are things you've probably been thinking and planning your entire career, your entire life, maybe. You're imagining, right? Yeah, just living. And just living it. You know, and as a communicator,
Starting point is 01:10:49 now I like to joke and have fun, but I also study it. You know, I understand the power of communication and understand how the brain works. In our brains, we have what you call sensory receptors, millions of sensory receptors in your brain bringing the galvanized information through your five senses, your ear gate, nose gate, mouth gate, touch gate, through your five eye gate.
Starting point is 01:11:09 Through those five senses, you have millions of receptors in your mind, in your brain. In that same brain, you have billions of receptors in your imagination. So when you're in class and your teacher's speaking, turn to page 35. On page 35, you're falling asleep because he's only talking to the million
Starting point is 01:11:31 of receptors in your brain. So as you're bringing that information, you're falling asleep. But in a movie, you'll watch a show that you've seen before and you'll be wide awake late at night with your ass, no, you shouldn't be asleep. I do it all the time. So you know you shouldn't be asleep. I do it all the time. Because the movie's coming
Starting point is 01:11:47 in story form. The movie activates the billion of receptors which keeps you awake. This is why they play music before the scene. Dun-dun, dun-dun, dun-dun. Now, even scenes you've seen before, your brain starts
Starting point is 01:12:03 thinking of possibilities. You're jumping before anything even happens because they've activated the billions of receptions in your imagination. In the Hall of Fame speech, I don't speak linearly. Everything I speak is in story form. Even when I'm saying to my wife, for better or for worse are the words they say to you before marriage. Baby, I have worked tirelessly
Starting point is 01:12:31 to give you the for better, but I also gave you the for worse. Now I'm giving you and telling her I'm sorry, but I'm giving it to you in story form. It brings you into it. And then you'll start living those moments, not just hearing those moments,
Starting point is 01:12:51 feeling those moments, because I touched the four lobes of your brain, the four lobes of your brain, your S&M, A&T, L&M, and F&E brain. Your S&M is your sensory motor brain. A&T is your attention and thinking brain. L&M is your learning and memory brain. And anything that touches all four, you will always remember. That fourth one is your feeling and emote brain. You think your feelings just come from your heart, but it's also in your brain.
Starting point is 01:13:14 And anything that touches all four, you should remember it forever. That's why you play a song, just the music, and you ain't heard it in 10 years, and the words will pop right back just like that. Now, I'm giving y'all for free what they pay me millions for. I still stop right here. Right here. Guys, the playmaker, Michael Irvin. Make sure you go check out Michael Irvin Podcast.
Starting point is 01:13:38 Check him out on ESPN, all the goddamn time. And, dude, you're awesome, man. You are a real talent outside of your football town i think that that's something people have learned from watching you on tv and definitely interpersonal relationships but it's it is so nice to see someone who has achieved success and then be completely justified in their success after meeting them like certain people you meet and you're like oh they got lucky and then certain people you meet and you're like, oh, they got lucky. And then certain people you meet, they're like, if it wasn't football,
Starting point is 01:14:08 if it was finance, he was going to be this successful. If it wasn't football, it was politics, he was going to be this successful. Like Dallas got lucky that you got football. But if it was some other shit, the same thing was going to go down. So it was a pleasure meeting you, my man. Yo, they say don't meet your hero. This was better.
Starting point is 01:14:24 This was better. It was better than I thought it would be. And anything you need it was a pleasure meeting you, my man. Yo, they say don't meet your hero. This was better. This was better. This was better than I thought it could be. Anything you need, we're here for you, my brother. So just let us know, okay? And we're moving to Manhattan, so don't worry. We'll have you back. You're going to have me back just to see the new B-Roll. Yes.
Starting point is 01:14:37 Absolutely. Absolutely. I'll be there, man. Michael Irvin, everybody.
