Let's start the show
Hold on one sec. Hey. Hey, Matt, you're on the podcast. Immediately? First thing?
Come on, boomer.
We're on the World Saving Podcast.
Hi, Andy Francis, World Saving Podcast.
I got a call from my manager right away, so I thought, might as well put him on the
podcast.
What's going on, Matt?
Inspiring you.
I'm sitting here working, wanting to talk to you about things that shouldn't be on the
podcast.
Ooh, you're getting sued?
I'm not sure.
I'm not sure.
I'm not sure.
I'm not sure.
I'm not sure.
I'm not sure.
I'm not sure.
I'm not sure.
I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm podcast what's going on that firing you I'm sitting here working wanting to talk to you about things that should be on the podcast. Oh you're getting sued
What happened
Good or bad is it good or bad? It's neither. It's just work. Oh so good
It's neither. It's just work. Oh, so good. Oh
America this is America you put you there's no it's only black and white in America. There's no competition
That also messes with your emotions, right? Yeah
Yes, there's no middle ground have you seen the suicide rate floating from a high to a low
All right. this is why.
I mean, this is.
I mean, he's right, but also that's not how it works.
He walked me off a cliff last night, too.
Really? Off a cliff?
Or, did I fuck that saying up?
Maybe it's not how it works,
but maybe it should be how it works.
Yes, I agree.
I agree with that.
The extremes are running our world currently instead of moving. Let's have
We where we both things so and or agree to disagree and carry on but
No, I'm saying highs and lows of good or bad or sort of like they're not helpful. I don't think you're right
So wow what a way to start a podcast or bad or sort of like they're not helpful I don't think you're right so
wow what a way to start a podcast is both of you guys by the way and I really
enjoy listening to podcasts are you gonna be at the mission show yeah he's
coming I can't wait I can't wait to finally meet you are you are you are you
sick of my shit yet Matt never you Never. No, you sell tickets. And the show on Strade was awesome, man.
Oh, you came.
That was like...
Well, how'd you feel about that acoustic set?
Let's talk about that for a second.
I think it highlights a great entertainer and storyteller,
you know, because you find ways to connect to the crowd and connect
the song into people and make it feel they can feel
their burden or struggle or their happiness through the song because of how you talk about
wrap it up um and i think people actually talk about them
yeah you know how much i love to be talking about listen to the lyrics instead of watching
the craziness that is the live show with the band,
which is awesome.
Yeah.
I think there is a level of like people really, I mean, especially with life is easier, like
people gravitated into that song.
It was awesome.
And you got them from the jump, dude.
It was like, you didn't have to get wind of over ever.
You had them.
It's crazy.
We never get standing ovations with my band. So
Nick nick's not not having this. I forgot we haven't gave nick attention for a month. I gotta get him on this podcast
um
But it's good. Yeah, I feel like if we were getting more standing ovations than we ever did with doing the ruckus stuff
Well, there's something to be said about
uh pulling at people from their heart a little bit more
than the entertainment side of like, the craziness, but I think both is important.
So I'm excited to see how you add what you just did into the band set.
It's gonna be fun, man.
So I'm really excited for next weekend. So if you haven't bought your tickets, buy your tickets now.
Yeah, this is basically a promotion for the Mission Ballroom show.
Go to the Mission Ballroom.
We will not be talking about Nick.
Alright, I gotta talk about how trivia was on Monday before he freaks out.
I'm just kidding. I don't want to be talking.
I'm excited to meet you. I can't wait to hang out and talk. Yeah, I'm gonna get him drunk. Yeah, let's have some fun
All right, I'll call you after the podcast
Okay, all right, let's save the world
What a guy what a guy Andy Frasco's world same podcast Andy Frasco. This is my co-host Nick Gerlach
Trivia master.
Yes.
Hot off a headline trivia set from a private party.
Okay, all right.
I didn't really want to talk about me.
I'm just kidding.
I did do a private trivia event last night.
It was fun, man.
You have fun?
It's fun to get money for something
you don't have to promote.
Yeah, it's cool.
That's why I like opening.
I didn't have to promote so hard.
Private events are pretty sick. What's up Nick? How you
doing? I'm doing pretty good. I feel pretty good. I finally slept. Yeah.
Insomnia has been going crazy lately. You should take sleeping pills. I don't know.
Then you get addicted to sleeping pills. Yeah. My doctor's like these won't get
you addicted. I've been taking every night you which one do you have lumen or like Viagra
frazzapan or I don't fucking know it's like kind of it's a oh it's like a
antidepressant like a benzo I think not antidepressant it's a anxiety
yeah like Xanax yeah fucking benzos bro I've been sleeping way better yeah you
sleep deeper huh I sleep deeper I don't wake up every two hours one thing that's
been helping me is I've been doing this magnesium.
I heard magnesium's good for you.
It relaxes your soul.
Yeah, do you wake up like kind of groggy though?
Yeah, I have dreams.
Yeah, but I don't mind that because I can snap out of it.
Really?
Yeah.
It's hard for me to...
I like waking up and going straight to work so it's like my brain's fuzzy.
I wake the fuck up though anyway, so like me being groggy is still not that groggy.
Because when I wake up, I'm fucking up.
It doesn't take me much to get the motor
going right that's probably why I'm an insomniac I never really was
March or February 7th at the Mission Theater. Watch Nick sleep deprived on stage
ripping it. I'm still trying to find a fucking trumpet. What time do you guys start?
You don't have a trumpet player? Dude everybody'sging? Gabe can do it, but he has a gig that ends at 1030 about six blocks away. Um
Okay
Well figure we'll have two horns. Just have two horn, but we'll figure out there's a way me one
I thought of another guy that I got it. What about that young kid who needs buddy? Yeah
Always plays at metal art. Oh, I hit him up. He can't do it
Oh, yeah, I'm talking about this other guy that played with Cooney
on his Christmas thing.
Oh, cool.
But whatever, I'll hit up Cooney about it.
But we'll get somebody.
Speaking of that, we are a couple days away
from the Mission Ballroom, our biggest headline to date.
Come on out.
It's gonna be huge.
Get your tickets now before they're gone.
Get your tickets now.
Oh, I don't think the $30 sale's over by now,
but grab your tickets. My parents, I don't think the $30 sale's over by now. But grab your tickets.
My parents are coming.
Really?
Yeah.
A lot of my family members are coming.
Like who, your cousin?
Cousin, and I think my sister, but I doubt it.
Really?
She comes and then she says she's gonna come
and then she bails last minute.
Yeah, that's typical.
Typical my family shit.
Yeah. Yeah, but whatever., typical my family shit. Yeah. Yeah. But whatever.
Typical Steph. Typical Steph. But come on out, February 7th, it's gonna be a ball.
We have a lot of special guests. I don't know if I want to say who it is, but we
got hints. We got some people from big bluegrass bands. We've got people from big jam bands.
We've got people from big horn section bands.
Podcast.
Podcasters.
Main squeeze.
Main squeeze, Squeaky Feet too.
Squeaky Feet.
And that's not included in the special guest
that I'm bringing up.
Right, exactly.
And I got a full band.
And we have like, we added five more members
of the band for songs.
Are you gonna do that?
We got Will Trask. Really?
Yeah, he's playing percussion.
He's such a vibe.
He's a vibe.
And then we got Nick Gerlach.
We got, I'll just tell you, we got Ali Kral from the 100 Noun String Band.
Yeah, let's tell people.
Yeah, Ali Kral is going to be filling in, playing some fiddle.
Is she in town or is she flying out for it?
I flew her out for it.
Wow.
I love her.
She's the best.
She's the fucking best. I love her with She's the best. She's the fucking best.
I love her with my heart and soul, yeah.
Mm-hmm.
And, uh.
She's also a badass.
Yeah.
It's gonna be fun.
So, grab your tickets.
You never know, there'll probably be another guest
or two by then.
Yeah, we should hold some surprise.
There's two more that are pretty big.
Really?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Ooh, I can't wait.
So grab your tickets February 7th, people.
That's in a couple days.
That is in three days. Friday, Saturday? If Saturday if you know my birthday is February 11th, and the only thing I want my birthday
Yeah, I don't even care about selling out just like yeah, let's get the 3000. That's a respectable ass number
That's a respectful ass number and then that will make all my promoters happy when I When then you'll saw it next time. Yeah, hopefully
But yeah, definitely. I don't like this pressure of playing bigger rooms
I know I should be playing this industry sucks industry fucking sucks right when you start getting a success. It just gets harder
It's it's harder and then everyone just like oh, but you got to like get your cloud out and I'm like fucking shut up
What cloud it's like? Oh, yeah foot. like get your clout out and I'm like fucking shut up. What clout? It's like oh
It's like you got it. You got to play these shit. You got to play these venues and if you want those big festival money
I'm like, okay cool. You're already getting good festival money. I know but there are more. Yeah
I don't know like okay walking down the never-ending hallway with the lights at the very end and you never reach the light
I don't know. It's like walking down a never-ending hallway with the lights at the very end and you never reach the light
Well, maybe that's life. Yeah, that gets that keeps you inspired that light keeps you inspired Yeah, but if there was no light then you'd be fucking wouldn't have any work ethic. That's the dichotomy of the light, bro
Fucking a Dean's so keep following the light your best friend
You're gonna treat doesn't suck. Maybe it's teaching
Maybe it's teaching me to keep falling. It does.
It's whores and thieves and drug addicts.
Whores, thieves and drug addicts.
My favorite people.
Not thieves.
I like Matt.
Matt talked me off a wall.
The single's going really well.
Yeah, I saw that.
It's getting...
But I was expecting...
I think so too.
I think it's your best song you've put out.
As far as just like a song.
Yeah.
But I was kind of bumming. I'm like, damn, we didn've put out. As far as just like a song. Yeah.
But I was kind of bumming, I'm like, damn we didn't get any radio this week
or we didn't get any big playlists.
Yeah you did.
And I realized we did, he told me.
Apple.
He's like, you can't,
you're not gonna be an overnight success.
Well I'm 37, man.
I said that.
I'm not looking for an overnight success.
I'm like.
Ronald Reagan was president when I was born, so no.
Cause they're like, you know, I'm on track for this year
to do 120 shows again.
It's a lot.
A lot, but it's.
And I'm getting tired.
Yeah.
So it's like.
It's way easier than what you used to do though.
Yeah, and that's saying something about my energy.
I run out of energy.
Yeah.
So then he's like, no, we're canceling 25 shows.
We're gonna get you under 95.
A lot of these shows haven't been announced yet.
So you're gonna not do them?
Well, like, we're still in the negotiation process.
Oh, like they're in the holds, they're trying to...
Yeah, so we're just gonna, you know.
So if I don't make it to your town this year,
I apologize.
You know, I'm trying my best,
but I also gotta take care of myself.
And that's what Matt says.
He's like, you don't have to, you know,
there's always next year.
Your fans, I'm like,
cause I have this fear of people forgetting about me.
Yeah, but there's also like the light.
It's like the light.
Right.
We're gonna call this episode the light.
On the top of that, you can also over saturate oversaturate things and people yeah god here comes the fresco
Yeah, it's gonna get in the organ. He's gonna drink whiskey. That's what I feel fatigue
That's why I'm like I'm down doing these acoustic tours and like it's I was like I really got I got standing ovations every single
Night, I've never gotten that you're good at talking with my bands. It's hard. Yeah
Are you gonna do that like his idea of like pop popping three songs of that in the middle of your set.
Yeah, I'm doing that.
Because you have beats too to sing in their harmony.
Yeah, or just like break it down just as two, me and Sean.
Yeah, go take a break.
Yeah, go chill out, beats, go drink a vodka soda.
Yeah, drink a vodka soda.
But yeah, I think it's, I'm just changing my, like I don't need to be this fucking party
guy all the time.
Party man, yeah, but sometimes. Like the light. The light. I'm just changing my like I don't need to be this fucking party guy all the time party man
Yeah, but sometimes like a light with the light, you know, I like I'll add a little bit of that to the show
But I want I really this tour opened me up
Seeing like oh shit my songs
Work to yeah, I don't have to just fucking chug Jameson crowd. Sorry. I get a crown
Your songs now are much better than they were like ten years. Oh, yeah
So maybe I was just compensating for the the mediocre songs
Yeah writing with the crowd surfing and Jim, but now I'm like this new records fucking sick. Yeah, and a lot of bands
That's where they fail
They forget to compensate for their bad songs early in their career because most bands aren't good, right?
Right takes like eight years to be good at being a band if you're like writing songs, right?
That's why they flame out. They don't enter learn how to entertain right?
You're right the light the light it's a big deal you can either be a
musician or an entertainer but if you want to put your name on the band you
got to be an entertainer yeah you know I'm saying but if you want to make a
pass just being a casino showroom yeah but also be right songs if you just want
to play in a casino showroom let's's go to hey, thanks for coming out
I'm Andy Frasco. I'm 65. It's my 65 your birthday
Primer special 999 come get it after the show. It's the happy hour set. All right kick it boys
It's called tears in my cocaine. Here we go. Here's thought machines in the background
old ladies
2020 brother doloff's out there going crazy.
Doloff's...
I clapped about it.
Got four 30-year-old Israeli kids.
He's got it.
Huge Israeli military son.
You understand, he used to crowd-serve.
Yeah, now he can't because of his hip.
He had a hip replacement.
Yeah, I want to call Bayless and see. Baybay? I want to call Bayless and see.
Bay Bay?
I want to call Bayless and ask him about this light.
No, he just, I just texted him.
Because we're setting up some Bayless, Frasco acoustic shows.
I love doing those.
We can go back to Indy again.
I'm calling you.
For the podcast.
We should do the mousetrap.
I'm calling you.
Um, yeah, we should, uh, what, him? He just played Indiana. I'm calling you. Yeah, we, what him? He's, he just played Indiana.
We did together. No, he just played Indiana. They did? Yeah, like last week.
I wonder what part because they're, oh they played maybe up north because they're
playing, they usually do Indy in the summer.
He always keeps his phone on silent. Oh. He's got kids. maybe I'll answer maybe hopefully he's in the
bus I think he just went home okay yeah they go home to in between yeah but
maybe not but yeah cuz they love their children and stuff but that's it's a
funny thing to think about playing when you're older it is people do it. Yeah, I mean look at lettuce
They ain't listen to this ain't listen to this
He didn't answer maybe I'll answer maybe he's obsessed with his kids man, dude, he's such a good dad people love their kids Oh, it was such a good dad Paris Stasek is such a good dad dad too. His kids are funny. They're like adult.
I hung out with him on New Year's.
They're like adults.
Yeah, you're saying that.
Yeah.
But he needed to be working.
Yeah, one of his daughters is like a dancer.
Yeah, really?
Like a cheerleader.
I'm like, holy shit, Bayless.
You're in trouble in 10 years, dude.
Or holy shit, Stasek, you're in trouble in 10 years.
I mean, have you met his wife?
He knew what he was getting into.
He's got a big personality too, so there's no way those kids are gonna end up like...
Oh yeah, they both.
Punky.
Punky is a kid.
I was calling her Amelia, I felt weird calling her Punky.
It feels like a family nickname or something.
And Mickey!
Yep.
Mickey's a firecracker.
So buy your tickets for my shows 40 years later at the Harris Casino.
In Bakersfield. Oh man casino in Bakersfield oh man the
Bakersfield Harris I gotta tell you about this hang I did in Harris oh no
dude I woke up I won like $1,800 well how much did you spend 300 okay so you
won $1,500 oh yeah so I've been watching this degenerate gambler,
and he's like, hey, I only got 300 bucks left,
let's go to the pinball machine.
Or like, I got 300 bucks.
Pinball?
So there's this game in high limits called pinball,
where you have to bet $50 a slot.
Damn.
It's scary.
Yeah.
So like, I was like, my plan was,
try and tie it turn over the next channel
But I look calm 30 mm-hmm
So you pin this thing and then
You could win up to like five grand and silly because it's like $50 a hand times a hundred
So the repair is a bigger pair is bigger. Yeah, but you could lose three hundred and four hands
Yeah, so I did that high stakes lots basically it is weird. It's really weird. Yeah, but I did that. It's high stakes slots basically. It is.
Weird.
It's really weird.
Yeah.
But I kinda like it.
That's degenerate shit.
That's degenerate shit.
Cause you're not even, there's no strategy.
Like poker, there's no odds.
I mean there are I guess, but like, you know what I mean?
You can't help yourself.
Yeah, I was feeling myself, we just,
Zach Brown just started working on the new song
with like, and Chris Gelb, you just like co--producing in my songwriter. Oh cool. Yeah for the people.
Oh yeah. And so basically so we found out the news like oh it's going down
Snoop and Zack they're writing it or they're recording it it's gonna be a
single and Chris and I wrote the tune so Let's go Chris
What do we fuck my first ever feature?
It's good. So I was feeling myself. I'm like I could spend a little dough
So I did like I was in the casino and like it was like I was really the whole tour has been great
I mean my my my soul has been fulfilled
Cabo head Andy and uh, there's aougar crowd. And I was like, just rip.
Dude, I felt like I was in control.
Every joke I knew was gonna land, landed, everything.
I mean, all this training of podcasting
has helped me so much.
It does help, trivia helps too.
They, yeah, they love Blue Gene Andy.
Yeah, so I first won, I won a thousand bucks on the pinball. Oh, it wasn't all one thing.
It was one thing. I won a thousand. Okay. Then I got cocky, went to the penny slots, lost it all.
That seems less cocky. No, but I would bet ten dollars, I max bet a penny slots, but it'd be
at ten dollars a hand. Right. And that's where they get you the penny slots Yeah, everyone is on money, so I lost it all I got like my 300 bucks back
Yeah, and then I went back to no I had only had
300 bucks or something
After the show some like really rich really cool couple
Brought us to their suite. Like on the top. Dude, I thought I was going to get,
it was going to be like pineapple style,
like throuple thing.
But it was cool.
Everyone there was like these like cool, wealthy artists.
Like one guy was an art director for all the car companies.
One guy was a tech guy, like Tahoe.
So they all have like their second house in Tahoe.
Okay. One guy was a real estate guy. Itoe. They all have like their second house in Tahoe.
One guy was a real estate guy.
It was just like a really cool hang.
And then, you know, we're getting fucked up drinking.
It was my last day of tour.
You'd be proud of me.
I only did party stuff twice a week.
It's pretty good.
Pretty good.
It's a good number, actually.
Twice a week is good.
The light.
The light.
So I waited all week, and then I finally partied Sunday
after the Tahoe show.
Right.
And basically, yada yada, it's three in the morning,
the guy's like, hey, you wanna go gamble a little bit?
I'm like, yeah, I'll gamble with you.
I'm like, I thought we were just gonna do a little
blackjack, 25, we go with a high-limit blackjack.
Oh no.
I'm like, dude, I don't have this much money,
I have like 300 bucks in my pocket.
Don't worry, we're gonna win.
We're gonna stay confident.
So we've been 100 bucks.
He was throwing an extra 100 bucks on like the side bets.
I don't know that about that.
They have like side bets where like 100 bucks
wins you 300 bucks if you're over 20.
Oh okay, so you can like make side bets, I get it.
About different parts of blackjack.
Like, oh this is over. And all of a sudden I'm winning. I get it. Yeah about different parts of blackjack like oh, this is over This is awesome. I'm winning
I'm up to like
$2,700 holy shit, and he kept on throwing extra hundreds in there. This guy's super well super cool
This guy won't I won't disclose his name. We're calling Jerry Jerry Jerry is fucking awesome
That's how I got five in the whole time and he's cool. He's oh. He's watching my band play like seven times. He's like a big fan and I just never knew.
And then I'm up 27, then I go down a thousand real quick,
like in three minutes.
And he kept, he threw me a couple more.
And then we're at 17, I got to like 1700.
And he's like, we're leaving.
I'm like, he's like, I'm like, and I was like,
do I owe you money back for all the time?
He's like, nope, just take the money.
And we're like, holy shit, this is the best night ever.
So it's 4 a.m., you know, nothing good happens.
That's an hour?
It was like, it happened quick.
That happened, it sounded like it took four,
like it was seven in the morning.
No, it was like 35 minutes.
Oh, that's so.
You're betting $100 a hand.
Yeah, I guess you're right, yeah,
I didn't think about that, yeah, yeah, yeah.
You're like, this is scary.
Yeah, yeah.
I'm not, my mom, I'm frugal. My mom, I didn't think about that. Yeah. This is scary. Yeah. Yeah, I'm not my mom
I'm frugal my mom. I'm my mom says yeah penny slots or bust type thing. I don't gamble. I don't like gambling
Yeah, it's kind of it's a sports gaming a little me. Yeah, I'm not good at it
But like no one's good, but I like and then I forgot I had the money
I think I spent like 600 extra I felt like I had I had the money in my pocket
Mm-hmm, or no, I put my money in the backpack and then when I woke like I had I had the money in my pocket. Mm-hmm or no I put my money in the backpack and then when I woke up I
Had 800 extra dollars. Why I don't know. Oh my god. That's the best
I'm like like finding 200 800 extra chips in my pocket. I'm like, holy shit
What the fuck happened like when you get your winter coat from last year and there's a 20 in it
It's a shout you get your winter coat from last year and there's a 20 in it. Dude, so shout out to Finding Xtra Dough.
He spent it all on gum and candy.
I got, I got, I got, I still have 800 bucks in my pocket.
What are you going to do with it?
I don't know.
I was thinking of going out.
Pay Sean for this acoustic show.
He's on salary.
Woo, salary Sean.
Salary Sean.
Not Floyd.
You didn't put Floyd on salary.
He's not on salary.
He doesn't show up.
He's a private, Floyd Floyd you're a little bit more
of a private contractor.
Yeah, yeah.
We're gonna be 1099.
Yeah, we're 1099 Floyd.
If you wanna show up every week Floyd,
then we'll gladly put you on salary.
Yeah, we'll get you a jet blue flight.
So, at the end of it all, then it's like five a.m.
And then it's like every time I do that,
or like I'm like, I go to bed, wake up at 11 to go to my flight.
That's when I cancel my flight.
So you always see me cancel my flights the next day
to go to the, yeah.
Or like if I'm missing public.
You definitely, you've been known to stay an extra day.
Yeah.
But I'm like, I gotta get the fuck out of here
because I'll spend all this money that's in my pocket.
True, true, true.
So you did.
So I left and I did the War and Treaty podcast. That was awesome. I saw you when you did. So I left and I did the Warren Treaty podcast. That was awesome. And I matured.
I said, I could party for two days.
I said, no, going back home, I'm going to sleep.
I went to bed at 7 p.m. ready to go prepared.
So this story is teaching me, you don't have to party
every day.
The light.
The light.
Follow the light.
Don't follow it for too long.
But also kind of follow the darkness a little bit.
Ooh, the darkness. Because light. Follow the light.
But don't follow it for too long. But also kind of follow the darkness a little bit.
The darkness is kind of fun every now and then. Good stuff. That's where mushrooms grow.
That's where mushrooms grow. I'll clap to that. Let's go. Just a little bit of darkness is okay.
Keep following the darkness and you become a Satanist. Yeah. I met some Satanists. What do you mean you met some Satanists?
I don't know. They're talking weird shit in theists. What do you mean you met some Satanists?
I don't know, they were talking weird shit in the yard.
In the yard?
You know, just like on tour.
Where did you meet these people?
Just like.
Fans?
No, just at bars.
And they were doing, like, how were they dressed?
They were just dressed normal,
but they were talking kinda wild on the yard.
What do you mean, like, what were they saying?
Like, you know, like, you know.
They're talking like Satanist isn't like,
it's supposed to be the anti-establishment.
So it's basically.
Anarchy basically or.
They're trying to come thinking Satanist is hippies.
Yeah, yeah.
I was like, ah!
There's a thing where they're like, it's not evil,
but that's where they get you.
That's where they get you.
Like Democrats.
Yeah. We're good. We're gonna help you
No, I don't know. I just don't even believe in that so I don't really care. Yeah, and if you're not like into God
You can't be into Satan. Right. It's like he's from the same book. Oh, that's a good point
You can't like be a Hermione fan and say Harry Potter doesn't exist or Voldemort fan. Harry Potter doesn't exist. You know what I mean?
They got a point
That's where you lose me people. You know what I mean? They got a point. That's where you lose me, people. You're like, I'm into Satan. If you acknowledge Satan,
you have to acknowledge, you have to be into God too. He's like a character in the story.
Right.
His own thing.
Right. Lucifer.
Lucifer. So shout out to...
The devil.
Shout out to the devil.
Shout out to Satan.
No, I'm not saying I'm the devil.
Yeah, but it's a balance of good and evil.
We had a Satanist kind of close to our camp.
Who?
I'm not going to say.
Why?
You're not proud of it?
Alright, we'll bleep it out.
Oh really?
Satanist.
Really?
Oh yeah.
Since when?
I don't know.
Don't say the gender even.
I won't.
It was wild. Um. What
happened? They would just, they would just like do things that was like all
about. They put a curse on you and a hex? Devil stuff. Hmm. Well how'd this like, how
do you just found this out or something? No, then Beats reminded me. Like, you know
Beats is scared of Satan. He is.
Come on, we know how they are.
Mexicans get scared of Satan.
I mean, they're pretty Catholic. It's like in their blood.
I mean, whatever, Satan's bad.
He said, I never trusted it.
Satanist.
He turned out to be right, I guess.
He turned out to be right.
But what was like like what? What?
What?
Clap for anything these days.
Y'all clap for anything these days.
Even our pro anti-Satanist.
Well, like what brought this up all of a sudden?
He just, oh, he's just always, he's on the look for it.
He always never trusted it.
Yeah, I get it.
Never trusted it.
The it, I mean, person, non-gender. No, it doesn't trust it the it I mean person
Non-gender are they we're not gonna exclude who it is. Are they?
Like is this like a thing where it's like multiple people doing it all together. No, okay. I
Think it thinks it's cool. They they think it's cool that
they are
Vibing with the devil.
They think it's rock and roll.
They're cool and dark and mysterious.
Yeah.
I'm like, I don't know.
Rock and roll can be also friendly and nice and fun.
Yeah, a lot of the kinks are pretty chill.
Kinks are chill.
Beatles, all their shit's about love.
Yeah, those guys are pretty rock and roll.
Oh, who else?
I mean, Leroy Skinner.
What, you don't think they're rock and roll?
You think Iron Man?
I was having discussions.
What does Iron Man, you think Iron Man is saying this?
Oh, they are, I think they are, if anybody,
aren't they kind of into that?
I don't actually know.
I don't know.
I was actually, speaking of Lyrdrd Skynyrd,
I was having a discussion.
It is fun to think about it, pretty rock and roll.
I was having a discussion slash argument with my friend
about who's the greatest American rock band of all time.
Who do you think it is?
American.
Greatest American.
I said Grateful Dead.
That's pretty good.
I have a pretty good argument, but who do you think it is?
I think the greatest American rock band is...
We can list the Ramones.
Yeah.
They're too specific. I would say the band, but they're kind of Canadian. Yeah. They're two specific.
I would say the band, but they're kind of Canadian.
Yeah, they're very Canadian.
Almost everybody's from Canada, right?
Leavon isn't.
Yeah, but that's the one guy.
That's Canadian.
Let me see how many people.
I think everyone but him's Canadian.
Okay, let's check.
The band's good, but I just think the Grateful Dead
has a way bigger cultural impact than they do.
Oh, Maddie O'Neil's gonna come to Tamaki tonight.
Maddie O'Neil, she's like one of the American bands.
She's top five American rock bands.
She's gonna come to Sushi with us tonight.
Oh, hell yeah, I love Maddie.
Bring your wife.
I'm trying, she's just super tired from work, so we'll see.
Oh wow, Nick called me from Big Something.
All right, continue this.
All right, so ask him who he thinks it is too.
I think it's the dead because, first of all,
they have such a long career,
they sort of started a culture, right?
But you can't say that about the band you can't say that about Eagles
Eagles has to be up there. I think Eagles are up there
I don't think the gravel does the greatest American band
I think they're the greatest American what about Tom pay the heartbreakers there, but that's like I was is that a band
Yeah, it's heartbreakers. Yeah, but also it's like Tom Petty and the heart you know, they've been a band the whole time
But they all right. Okay, it's like that. We're a band even though it's like Tom Petty and the Heartbreaker. You know what I mean? They've been a band the whole time. But they all write, okay, it's like that.
We're a band, even though it's Andy Frasco and the UN,
we've been together for 15 years.
All right, well maybe you're, all right, okay.
I'm not too familiar with Tom Petty's.
I didn't know if it was like a rotating cast behind him.
And it's like, Eddie won't come to Heartbreaker.
Well that's a different point too.
Like is it?
Like are you guys, I guess they are a band,
but you get what I'm getting at, right?
So like, okay, so he definitely is on the short list shortly
I think grateful that probably is the greatest American rock which kind of makes the point is like God other England has way better
Rock bands like Led Zeppelin the Beatles
Rolling Stones, I guess we have a real Smith
That's that's Nick. That's how that's like our shitty. Yeah Smith is kind of I don't I mean, they're cool
They call me out corn. I think they're corny to me too.
Yeah.
What's up, bro?
Yo, hey bro, what's up?
You're on the podcast, by the way.
Who's the greatest American rock band?
Oh, fuck.
Nick, Nick McDaniel's from Big Something, Hot Off.
Five day run of Raleigh theater.
Or the, what is it called?
Oh, the Jefferson?
Hot Off, a five day run in his hometown. How's it
going? It's going good. How are you? I'm good. So the question we're gonna ask
before I ask why you called is who do you think is the greatest American rock
band? American? American. All the members must be from the United States. Yes, so the bands out I
said the band but I
Guess are Canadian, but Trump wants to make Canada America. So they're okay. So okay if we annex Canada
You could but but if grateful dead, that's what Nick said grateful dead
I mean fish should be up there
They should be up there
But the problem is like if they don't exist kind of without the grateful dead creating that sort of culture
So like you they can't be above the grateful dead and oh cuz my OG. It's like Kobe Bryant can never be Michael Jordan
Oh, so you don't like you don't like how you don't like youth
Yeah, can get social security right now.
What are you talking about?
Do you think Trey's...
I think rock bands like made me first think fish, but now that I'm thinking about it and like the songbook of the Grateful Dead,
like they have probably the greatest American songbook, I think.
Yeah, I hear that.
Here's another point. There's 7,000 Grateful Dead tributes.
There's like four Fishtribute bands. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha the highest grossing band of all time or something like that. Probably. They got their merch in Target now. Yeah.
Yeah.
How you doing, Nick? Is this something we could talk about on the podcast?
Probably not.
Everyone wants, I love this. Everyone wants to hang out, spill the tea to Frasca today.
All right, cool. How's everything going? We're here. Nick McDaniels from Big Something.
Hot. Live. Doing the Lord's Work out there. All right, cool. How's everything going? We're here Nick McDaniels from Big Something hot live
Doing the Lord's work out there six foot one
certified fresh certified fresh certified stepdad
How's that going dude, that's a fucking good
Okay, so what people don't know so So, do you want to tell the story?
This is a great story, Nick.
I think the world needs to know this,
to show how good of a person you are.
So, tell them the story of how you randomly had a kid.
There's not a whole lot, you know, like,
some of it's, I want to keep, you know,
Oh, keep it private, yeah, yeah. It's not, you know, my family per se, but, uh,
my true, true amazing girlfriend,
that's why he's the best. Yeah.
He's a therapist girlfriend and I, uh,
had now have custody of her niece Alice and she's been living with us for about
a year and, uh, she is an awesome kid. And, um, we love it. She's been living with us for about a year and she is an awesome kid and we love it. She's fun.
She's like 11 years old and you know entering her teenage years and it's been a lot of fun
kind of revisiting some of those memories. No, it's great. What have you learned from being a dad now?
dad know? Patience. And are you wearing new balance? The value of self-worth. Let's get into Nike Monarchs. Nick wants, Gerlock wants to know if you are wearing new balances now. Or those Nike
Monarchs. I saw him wearing more under Armour Polos. Oh, there we go.
I've been seeing, I've been seeing McDaniels start rocking, you know, the dad, the dad Under Armour Polo.
Coaching softball. I had to go to fifth grade graduation. Oh my God. What'd you wear? Did you
wear, did you wear like... That's the picture of the under our proposal date. Oh my god. That's the only thing in my closet. I was like, okay, sure. I'm obsessed. That's hilarious.
So, okay, one more question about this because I think this is you're doing such a beautiful thing.
Really, like you are a good you're you've always you're a good man. I hope you know that right.
You know that. Thank you brother. I appreciate you. You're a good man, take care of your band well, you care so
much about big something. I mean you do a lot for the band and now to do this. I mean this is why
you're one of my closest friends. Like you're really, I'm so happy you're in my life. So. Thank you man.
Should start snoring again. But tell me, what have you learned about being a dad that you could bring to being a bandleader?
That's just my veteran question
What do you think I
would say positive pressure.
Ooh! What does that mean? Positive pressure. Like, you can't fail, right? You can't. You
have to take care of people. Like, you have to... Am I right on that?
Yeah, yeah. And also, like, you know, doing stuff that you don't necessarily want to do, but making it positive.
Oh, I like it.
That was so poetic. You're such a poet.
Long fellow.
I ponder.
Robert Frost over here.
He's out here. He's out here just outside.
He's pondering while shooting jump shots.
Is there snow there?
What?
Did they get snow there?
Did you get snow out there in that big snowstorm?
A little bit, but not enough to shut down
the entire city of Charlotte.
Yeah, but that takes nothing.
Oh, man, dude.
I saw it.
It's only about an inch.
Yeah, that takes nothing down there.
I saw videos of Dallas and New Orleans.
New Orleans was fucked, dude.
Yeah, they canceled an NBA game.
It's crazy.
Right, well, Nick, I love you.
I'll call you when I'm off this.
I'll call you in like 30 minutes.
It better be a substantial offer.
Okay, awesome, hell yeah.
Okay, so also, do you have any shows to promote
while you're on it?
Yes, we are actually playing three nights
at the Charleston Poor House in Charleston, South Carolina.
The legendary Charleston Poor House.
Oh, yeah.
That is February 21st through the 23rd.
And it's one of our-
Oh, dude, I'm there the 20th yeah i was gonna say and
oh fuck you're gonna just miss each other oh shit when you guys get in probably the 21st yeah no
actually we're coming down two days early to record that's uh yeah yo that's so you'll be
catching big something in andy Frasco on the 20th
He's gonna be actually playing four nights at the Charleston poor house. Oh, that's so great. All right, great. We'll see each other then
No, that's awesome
Perfect. All right, so go up go grab tickets to our show and Nick show go to the poor house four days in a row
Yeah, you hippies love going there's an inside day. there's an inside and outside you can get some writing it's the best it is the best I haven't been back in so long
so good I used to go so many times a year now I have it's like it's hard for
me to get there yeah you could get residency there I think I could want to
try to run for sheriff sheriff sheriff and jump for us. Yeah, that's true.
Alright, I'll call you in a little bit. I love you. Love you too bud. Thank you. I think I know
what we're about to talk about and I can't wait to hear about it. Alright, goodbye. Goodbye.
I can't talk about it online, but I'll tell you when we're off. Yeah, I love little guys.
I can't talk about it online. I'll tell you when we're off. Yeah, a little gauze.
A little gauze.
Rock bands. Aerosmith's over. I hate them.
I don't know. I kind of hate Aerosmith, actually.
I kind of hate... I mean, I don't like saying hate because I need to just shit on people's art.
I mean like sports hate or music hate, not real hate.
Yeah.
I think...
Although Stephen Tyler has some weird skills.
There's a couple songs that are like, you know, from like that movie Armageddon. Yeah. Terrible movie. Terrible movie. Nick Cage out there just
fucking being an astronaut. I like that movie but it's terrible. What an era for
Nick Cage. I mean he's had a great career. He was on like Con Air, he was a convict. He was an astronaut. He was a
police officer in the Rock. What else? Eternal Sunshine, right? Found the national, found the Declaration of
Independence. National treasure. Yeah. His dad, or he's related to Francis Ford Coppola somehow.
That's kind of cool. Oh, well. I can't remember how he's like his uncle or something. What was that?
What else is he in? He's in so much, he has so many, oh, that massive talent movie that came out a
couple years ago. Remember where he played himself? Oh, yeah, that massive talent movie that came out a couple years ago, where he played himself.
Oh yeah, that was awesome too.
You know you're banging in famous
when you play yourself in a movie.
It's pretty sick.
He's the man, dude.
The thing about Nick Cage is you're gonna go see
a Nick Cage movie.
You don't know if it's gonna be good or bad,
but it's gonna be something.
Right.
You know what I mean?
100%.
It's not just gonna lay there.
Are you getting some text or something?
My sister texted me.
Oh no.
Or she called me. Oh, no
Should we say she's on the podcast? Oh, I
Don't know I've never met I think we should actually it no we could cut it out. Should we do it?
It's up to you. She's your sister. Okay, and I don't know her or anything, so
Let's find out hopefully it's not terrible terrible news
She's the one I like the other one one I don't like. This is the one
with kids or no kids? This but they both have kids. She has two kids. And she lives?
She lives in Coronado. That's not the San Diego one then? They're both
Coronado San Diego. Okay. It's like so many towns down there. Very confusing
Southern California. Yeah. I still can't figure out where anything is. It's not really two cities. It's 40, like 400 cities.
Oh, yeah. You can't tell where anything is really. Yeah. Like, are you north of LA or south? I don't know.
But Ventura County, we played Ventura Theater. Like, where the fuck is that? It's like fucking an hour north of where I live.
Okay, so where I grew up. Okay, I see. I thought it was between San Diego and LA. This is how stupid. No, this is north towards San Luis Obispo. Okay See this how stupid I am about this, right?
But back to I know Bakersfield American American. I know isn't this a fun conversation. I like this. Yeah
Some of those California bands. I know I was thinking the Beach Boys, but is that here's the thing about the Beach Boys
Are they a band or are they Brian Wilson telling his brothers what to do? I mean you could say same thing about Jerry
No, he didn't write the lyrics though.
But you're right.
Okay, so let's put the Beach Boys in the conversation
because they are incredible.
So right now, but I think you're right.
Are they a rock band?
Are they a rock band?
I think Grateful Dead.
Are the Beach Boys even a rock band though?
Are they just a pop band?
Because, you know what I'm saying?
Yeah.
I don't know.
Like what considers like a great American rock band?
They just tour so much?
Well, Grateful Dead, just their cultural impact.
What about Steely Dan?
Yeah, but they're just too niche.
What about Little Feet?
I was gonna say them, but I don't know
if they're famous enough.
Here's the thing about Grateful Dead,
they have 22-year-old fans.
Yeah, you're right.
None of these older bands can really say that.
Led Zeppelin can say that.
Oh, what about Zeppelin?
But they're from England.
Okay.
Yeah, but I think they're the greatest they're from England. Okay. Yeah.
But yes, I think they're the greatest rock band, period.
Uh-huh.
So, greatest American rock band.
I like that.
I think it is Grateful Dead.
What about, okay, we haven't discussed
any of the grunge things,
but they just aren't, like, it's too short of a run, I think.
You know who would be good?
Limp Bizkit.
Who would be good commentary for this?
Eric Krasnow.
I think he's gonna say the dead. I think he's gonna say the dead you think he's gonna say the dead. Yeah, let's call him
But don't tell him what I said. Okay, I don't want to say no
He has smart shit. Yeah
But probably in recording he's recording Bruno Mars right now or something I saw him record
He's recording Bruno Mars right now or something. I saw him record
Rascal Krasno. Hey Krasno. You're on the podcast. I want to ask you something. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah
Ladies down Eric Krasno, we're having a music one of the greatest guitar players of our time We're talking about music for a while. Come on. You really are
So we're talking about who do you think is the greatest we who do you think is the greatest American rock band? Oh
Man, okay, you think is the greatest American rock band? Oh man, okay so this is going to be highly controversial. Okay. It's going to be very
controversial and I wouldn't have said this years ago but based on the longevity and influence on
not just music but culture and music production. You gotta
say the Grateful Dead. Boom! Nailed it! That's what I said too! Everyone's saying it. That's what I said too.
Alright so explain. Explain. Don't say it then we have problems because like you know
because you got the Beatles I would say the Beatles but they're British. Right.
Right? Say Led Zeppelin. There's lot, but as far as what represents American music on all sides
You can't deny it at this point. I think 20 years ago. I wouldn't have said it, but they're still the biggest band
Yeah, and they're crazy. They have 22 years old fans dude. It's crazy
You're not just saying that cuz you know you're part of the family. Yeah, no, it really is true. I mean I might be slightly biased
you know, you're part of the family. Yeah.
No, it really is true.
I mean, I might be slightly biased,
but it's, well also I'll tell you this much,
like, and is Nick over there too?
Yeah, he's here.
That's what I said.
He can probably, he can probably like,
kind of chime in on this,
but like having like gone to like,
me and him are like,
we like went to music school and shit.
I think he went to music school,
he's a jazz guy.
I did, I did, yeah.
There was definitely a thing in like the 90s where it was like you can't be a dead
I wasn't allowed to be a deadhead for years. It was corny
I was a clock like so live and lettuce and like like those guys would have clown me for playing the dead in like the early
2000s yeah, like probably every single one of them is like kind of down with the dead
I know they all wear dead shirts. Yeah. So like the fact that you can pull in
like jazz snobs even at this point,
it's like no one, it's unequivocal now
that everybody's dead.
Yeah, you're right.
And like especially seeing that at the Sphere,
like seeing so many young people at those Sphere shows
and older people, it's just like,
that's America's music.
You're right, I'm convinced. Yeah, I gotta say it America. That's America's music. You're right.
I'm convinced. Yep. I gotta say it. And the counterculture part of it. I don't even know who's even in the running. I mean,
Allman Brothers are important. They're like specifically Southern rock. Yeah, exactly.
Yeah, I don't even know who else is in the running, bro. Yeah, Leonard Skinner, bro. Who do you got?
Well, I thought I would say in the band, but they're more Canadian.
That's crucial.
That's crucial.
Oh, the Eagles.
We said Eagles.
What about Eagles?
Oh, Eagles.
They're like pop music to me.
That's what Nick said.
Yeah.
That's what Nick said.
What about Nirvana?
Very important grunge to me.
Yeah.
But not like American songbook.
Game changer.
Nirvana was the game changer
Yeah, yeah, uh-huh, but I think the Grateful Dead are the game. You know like preach so it's
Yeah, I'm not even gonna try but those are all good ones. Those are all like the rush more
We had another speaking of another American song Andy Frask on Eric Crasner
We'll be releasing a song called swinging for Fences coming out in a couple months. The baseball trilogy. Yes, I'm sitting right where we made that right now.
Dude, it's coming out in two months. I can't wait. We got G-Love on it. Oh buddy, I gotta hear a little gossip.
So I saw a picture of you, Rick, and Lash.
What are you doing?
Oh, they were, when does this come out?
This couple weeks.
We could delete this part.
It comes out in two weeks.
I mean, they're doing,
they were working on the MusiCares project out here.
And I am not gonna be there.
I'm actually playing with, Graham invited me,
but what am I doing?
I'm playing with Soul live in Philly this weekend
And anyway, so I just dropped by rehearsal to say what's up and then I am doing this initiative
You know, I live in the middle of where the fires out
So I've been like putting together this initiative
For and I might try to call you guys to help out on this. Yeah, whatever you've gotten instruments
Signed and shipped from like a lot of my favorite ours Derek trucks Susan Tedeschi Dave Matthews cool
Warren Haynes
Trey is gonna send one. So we have all these amazing are sitting where we're putting together this really cool auction
I put together this this fund called help on the Way with the help of Song Summit Foundation.
Anyway, we're raising a bunch of money for fire victims and trying to help build, rebuild
the schools in our area. Anyway, so I brought a guitar over there and a bunch of them signed
it and helped support the cause.
That's awesome.
I got it. I destroyed a piano on stage. I could sign that and make it.
That actually would be perfect.
That'd be cool.
That would be awesome. I got you. It's in my... That would be awesome. It's done. I'll send that and make it and that actually would be cool okay I got you it's in my that it's done we're doing I'll send that over to you let me
know text me I'll get I'll get it I'll make sure it gets shipped and all that
I'll send you a FedEx or like yeah or I could just I'll sign it and then take
pictures for you and then we could so we don't to ship it twice yeah if you sign
it I will make sure all the other things will happen.
All right, cool, I got you, whatever we can do to help.
I do, I do.
What an adult.
I do appreciate that.
Yeah, dude, I was thinking about you.
It was getting scary when it got into Alta Dino.
I was thinking about your studio and thinking about you, bro.
I'm like, how scary was that situation?
It was insane.
I mean, you looked out my front door
and the mountain right in front of me was on fire.
Oh, my like straight up before and there was no evacuation notice till shit was like blazing down the hill.
I live in an area where there's fires, but the fires are usually over that hill and you'll smell them.
But there's never even been a threat to like residences.
And, you know, Taylor, you know, the guys, guys, his house bird.
Yeah. And they lost like, you know, three different houses from their family are my kids.
My kid goes to the same school as Taylor's kid.
Our main campus burned down and all there was like five schools in my neighborhood that
burned down and all the like our coffee, like all of our little shops and stuff in our neighborhood
all burned. It's, it's
crazy. What's it look like now?
Well, it's really weird because my house is like fine. My block is fine. And because I'm
kind of south of like the line, but then there's, there's all houses east and west of me that
burned. If you go past Woodbury, which is like the main street by me, up that hill, it goes from like,
okay, a couple of houses here and there to just nothing, dude. At the top of that hill, like,
there's just miles of complete, just every house is down. It's insane. I'll send you some videos.
Send them to me.
Yeah. It's really mind boggling. It's going to be a really long...
It's going to be a long...
Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
So my last question, I'll let you go do your recording.
What did you learn from this situation?
Well, first off that things are important,
but not that important.
Right.
You know, like getting out, getting our family safe
and all that kind of shit.
And seeing how all of my
People around me have kind of rallied like from the people that lost everything like I saw Taylor and Griff like, you know
I thought to Taylor the next day and he was just like yeah, I lost everything, you know, but my family's here
We're gonna work it out like Oh Griff and Taylor lost everything. Yeah, well Taylor lost his entire studio
Standing but they lost like two structures like behind their house like and the main was a I was in there like the two nights before
you know looking at all his old guitars and vintage amps and all the shit and
Jesus
All that and you know, and then a lot of our neighbors just rallied to help dude, you know, like everyone was like
How can we help how can we help?
Wearing this shirt. I heard LA's yep
Everybody started and then you know, we kind of went into action putting this fun together within a few days
all these musicians were like sending stuff and trying to help and so, you know, there's a lot of negative,
but watching everybody kind of rally together
and support each other is huge too.
As a Los Angeles, this support is remind me
of the Northridge earthquake.
Oh yeah.
Oh yeah.
And also it remind me of how the whole country got together after
9-11. Yeah. Yep. And then the other one is like Katrina. Yeah, Katrina. Katrina, yeah.
Obviously that disaster had so many horrible things. So I don't really want to compare
it to that. But just like one day everything's there and then the next day everyone's displaced,
you know? Like so many people had to move I know like all our neighbors and all the other parents in our school like they're all
like in different cities now and it's it's crazy I think about the data the
most out of all the people who lost their houses because I've lived there
for generations yeah and it's like it's not like a super wealthy people right
Chuck's not a lot of resources no And the other reason why it hit so hard
here is because Palisades had started like 10 a.m. that morning. Our our fire started
like 615 or something p.m. So all those resources were fighting that fire. And then we're way
up in the northeast here, you know, and trying and trying to like battle a fire with like
60 mile-hour winds
It was crazy like in like they didn't have the resource they didn't have the helicopters the plane right, they barely had enough fire engines to so it was a
Toughier man and like a lot of the houses here
From like, you know, first of all, they're from like 50, 60 to a hundred years ago,
and they've been passed down generation.
There's a lot of like, there's a lot of black families
that settled up there in the fifties and sixties,
a lot of like old school artists,
a lot of jazz musicians, writers.
There's like this whole community up there that, you know,
I just hope when we rebuild that,
that you don't lose the culture that lives there, you know, which, you know, I just hope when we rebuild that you don't lose the culture. Right.
You know, which, you know, I know in New Orleans, there was a lot of, you know, argument about
that.
You know, it's like as they rebuilt, it wasn't necessarily, you know, thinking about preserving
that preserving the culture that lives there.
So I just hope that it that uh it comes back and it's strong You hear us black rock or yeah?
Piece of shit. Yeah, come at us bro. Come at us immediately get a sad piece of shit come at us
So Andy won't be in the pot next week. He'll be dead
How do you want you want to buy crash the studio to you pieces shit
Yeah, how do you want you want to buy Krasner studio to you pieces shit?
I'm telling you dude. I didn't know about that black rock is trying to buy everything and this is like this is fucking scary
We're gonna get killed. All right. Let's stop talk about it. We have more years of our life. I love you
I'll call you about swinging for the fences because we're making a music video. Let's let's figure out some Yeah, hit me up, hit me up. And also the keyboard too.
Oh yeah, I'll call you today.
I'll call you today then.
Alright.
I love you buddy, love you buddy.
Later.
What a guy.
Asno is the fucking best.
I didn't know about this BlackRock shit.
You didn't know about this?
I mean it's not like, I'm not like, no way.
Yeah, I mean.
Dude, it's crazy.
So they're trying to buy the property.
BlackRock is calling people in LA.
Poor people are going to do it
because they don't have any other choice.
Yeah, but they're having like people,
they're like having other people
like who are like sympathizers like,
oh, we're sorry, do you need money type people?
And then when they search the papers
of who's giving the money, it's BlackRock.
Interesting. So that means they're owning
the land and renting it to you.
Yeah.
I don't think they're, this thing where like corporations
are buying, talking about sameness.
How evil, just like how evil do you have to be
to already be a billionaire and then still do that?
Like how much money do you need?
You're just destroying the culture
of this whole entire country.
I know.
I'm not, this podcast is not a conspiracy theory.
It's not a conspiracy theory, it's like in the news.
It's actually true.
This is like on Fox News, on CNN. It's scary a conspiracy theory. It's not a conspiracy theory. It's like in the news. It's actually true. This is like on Fox News, on CNN.
It's scary.
It's scary.
Yeah.
A lot of people who are on the poorer side
are going to take those deals
and then be more indebted to BlackRock.
BlackRock basically owns everything.
They own the loans, they own the banks.
Yeah, it's sort of illegal it sounds like.
They just keep it under mission.
Ah.
Whatever.
But the light, keep following the light people.
The light, there's no light with Black Rock.
No light with Black Rock.
That's a dark hole.
The best thing is they're called Black Rock,
which is the most Black Rock name they should have.
It's like, we are black and dark and evil,
we are not the light.
God, everyone's calling me, Jeremy just called me too.
We'll talk later.
What time are we going on our date?
No, we have a meeting.
He started this company,
Quantizer. I know, but don't give him a free ad. Oh, we're gonna get him on the
podcast. He's gonna talk about it. We'll charge him. We'll charge him. Yeah, I mean, you are
technically a sponsor, Jeremy Sulkins. I'm not, yeah. We need that money. Our
contract's up. Come on, Jeremy. Speaking of volume, volume Yeah volume calm baby. It's contract season
You know that means we are gonna be
Ultra sucking that dick this this next month. It is a good platform. I know I
Love their power I
Use it all the time. Why do you love their platform Nick? Is it always you know what I like about it?
It always works. I've never had it and it's never lagging when I'm trying to stream on there.
It always looks good.
Yeah, it's good quality stuff.
Yeah, it's good quality stuff.
I love the team there.
They got a lot of good bands.
We don't promote things we do not like.
That's actually true.
It's true.
I don't know how to lie to you.
We've denied a lot of people
that we just didn't believe in their companies.
Yeah.
Volume.com.
Like BlackRock.
BlackRock hit us up.
It's like, hey, can we buy the podcast?
We're like, no, no, you can't buy the podcast.
No.
Come on, we're fucking hippies.
Come on, dude.
We're grateful.
We just said, Grateful does the greatest American podcast.
Yeah.
Sorry, BlackRock.
Can't buy this podcast.
Can't buy our freedom.
Talking shit about everything.
Yeah.
Volume.com.
But go ahead to volume.com.
It's a great platform. We love it. Free. It's volume.com. It's a great platform.
We love it.
Free.
It's free.
And if you're a content creator,
let's start getting your fans on the subscription model.
And I know fans are like,
no, not one more subscription model.
Just hear me out.
Yes.
Even if it's one dollar a month,
you buy coffee, that's six dollars a day,
maybe four times a day.
Seven days a day.
Don't you want to support your favorite band
for five bucks a month?
Yeah, I do.
Take one day off from the Starbucks
and that will pay for one of the bands.
Like ours, Only Frasco.
You gotta head up to Only Frasco subscription model.
Because Nick and I are slowly moving this podcast
to the only subscription based.
Ooh.
Someday you'll know it even allowed to be on Spotify a
Lot of a lot of a lot of podcasts are doing that actually yeah, I know not giving it for free anymore
Ooh, or they'll do like the first half hour
But not only are you gonna get?
Every week a podcast or I think maybe we'll do like bi-week bi-monthly free and then yeah to on the paywall that makes sense
but also you're getting a live stream of our band,
Andy Frascom, to the UN once a month as well.
Once a month?
Once a month we're giving it.
So most concerts are $30.
So you're getting a free concert for five bucks.
Let's do the math.
That's $360 bucks a year if you're gonna see them live.
This is a $30 ticket, right?
It's without fees, all right?
So five times 12 is 60 sixty so you're saving $300
You're already you're getting back three hundred bucks on your investment
Who needs a business manager we have Nick fucking girl off you're literally getting $300 you're getting $300
You're not giving six you're getting 300. Okay. I'm giving it back to you people given taking the power back
anyway
Taking the power back. Anyway. Sign up for volume. Taking the power back?
Just get on volume, god damn it.
But no, the social media stuff is getting bullshit.
I'm over it.
I'm over it, dude.
I'm just over just fucking posting every day.
It's just the same shit every time.
It's half it's bots now.
Yeah, and like half the people, I can't even.
It's turning into cigarettes.
It is turning into cigarettes.
Yeah, cause I'm kinda over cigarettes too.
Yeah, but they're better than social media.
Oh, I love a cigarette.
Yeah.
But also, like, when I'm on, because I'm not on, I deleted X.
Yeah.
Because this is too much conspiracy.
I don't want to go, I don't want to scroll and see the world's ending.
I'm on there just to keep an eye on these people.
I'm mostly just on my secret account though.
Oh you got a burner account?
Yeah, remember we talked about this.
My burner's fun.
My philosophy, I can't have a burner account.
I'm out there talking shit on my burner account.
God, I hate Elon Musk so much.
He's a piece of shit.
He's such a nerd.
The Hitler thing is wild.
Yeah, where he didn't do the Nazi
salute. Twice. You see you can't you did it twice bro. There's this like play-by-play
of like the Nazi salute and Hitler's or and Elon's. I think Elon went harder. He did.
He put a little more into it. He was like I don't know maybe maybe chill it out a little bit.
Elon's like yeah South Africa. Dude ketamine is a wild drug. I mean he yes, South Africa. Yeah, Keta means a wild drug
I mean from South Africa as dad made money off an apartheid. There's no way he doesn't he's not a little bit racist
Not a conspiracy. Wow, not a conspiracy. Everyone's like just talk about music. This is the very end and it's not conspiracy
It's on Wikipedia guys. So like yeah, we talked about rock bands
Wonder Elon Musk's we're giving out $100
We talked about rock bands. I wonder who Elon Musk is.
We're giving out $100.
Virgin?
We could do the Virgin.
We didn't get a lot of voicemails for the Virgin.
And it was all dudes.
So we're gonna give a $100 gift card for Uber Eats.
I love Uber Eats.
I'll give out $100 gift card to Uber Eats.
If you call the voicemail and tell me what you think is your favorite,
greatest rock, American rock and roll band
that isn't the Grateful Dead.
If you have an argument against it.
If you have an argument against the Grateful Dead
that isn't the greatest rock, American rock and roll,
American songbird band, and if it's a good argument.
Or if it's just funny as hell.
Or if it's just funny as hell.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Call the voicemail, what's the voicemail? Bah, bah, bah. It's in the description. In the description, just funny as hell. Or if it's just funny as hell. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Call the voicemail.

I keep him on his toes.
I can't wait to get him all fucked up at the missions.
Oh yeah, he doesn't, we gotta take him to sushi,

The man date with Matt, sushi,
