hey mr. Frasco this is Mike Donaldson from the Chicago Bulls organization I'm one of the
assistant directors of marketing just wanted to let you know that we left your tickets at
will call you can pick those up there under your name we left you two tickets also I just wanted
to reach out because I got some information from a couple of our players.
They told me that you have been sending them direct messages on Instagram threatening their lives if they beat the Los Angeles Lakers tonight.
So just want to know that we take these kind of threats seriously, and if you could refrain
from doing that, we really want you to have a good time tonight and don't want to have
any particular issues. So just make sure that when you're at the game, sit back, relax, and enjoy. Try not to stand
up or interact with the players. Okay, thank you so much. See you tonight. Hey, Andy. Welcome back
to Chicago. Thanks so much for the invite to go to the, like, Laker game with you tonight, I, like, cannot believe you got courtside tickets.
But I'm going to be honest with you.
I'm, like, not a basketball fan,
and there's, like, a Bass Nectar concert tonight
that I, like, really want to go to.
So I'm going to, like, have to cancel.
But, you know, if you want to meet after I'm down,
I'll be, like, safe left on the rail.
All right.
Here we are.
Andy Frasco's World Saving Podcast.
I'm Andy Frasco.
How you doing, everybody?
How's our heads?
How's our hearts?
How we feeling about the week? It's Tuesday, baby. Want you to get out there and just fuck shit up.
Just, you know, just put your dick in the mashed potatoes or your vagina or non-gender, whatever you got.
Just slap it in there and say, I'm gonna fuck this week up.
Oh, man. I've had such a great fucking week. I'm telling you, dudes.
I went to Chicago on a limb.
You know, I couldn't.
The fucking house is fucked in Denver.
So now I'm kind of just homeless and I'm roaming around.
I got two months off.
So I'm like, where am I going to go?
So I checked the Lakers schedule.
I'm sure they're playing in Chicago this week.
I got one show left in Albany with Wild A.
Wild A Drotic.
Our boys are throwing a hometown festival kind of near Albany with Wild A. Wild A Drotic. Our boys are throwing a hometown festival
kind of near Albany in Glen Falls.
So if anyone's out there, I'm playing there this weekend.
Come on out with the boys Wild A and stuff.
But I've been here, dog.
Wow.
It's been crazy.
It's been crazy.
It's just amazing how life gives you serendipitous things.
So I flew out here on a limb like, fuck it, let's go. I don't really got much going on for two months, so I roll in there.
I bought these tickets, Laker tickets, kind of middle of the arena, because I just wanted to go.
I couldn't afford fucking $500 tickets, but I treated myself to a couple hundred dollar tickets,
taking my homies, took Berg out. Um, the guy who books Hulaween, who I'm going to have on the show
next week, he has a, he's brilliant promoter. Um, but yeah, so we went out to the game and then I
got, I put, I've made a post saying, Oh, I'm in Chicago. What's Gucci?
And I got a text from a homie I was hanging out with in Nantucket saying,
hey, you want to go to Courtside?
You want to see the Lakers Courtside with the Bulls?
Didn't know I had tickets already.
Didn't know I was in town for the fucking Laker game.
And I was like, fuck, yes, I want to go.
So I rock in there fucking heavy, dog.
Like, I am like, what do I wear?
What do I wear?
I'm courtside in Chicago.
Kanye might be here.
Chance the Rapper.
You know, I got to fucking peacock this shit.
So I rock these short-ass shorts
and my Will Chamberlain jersey
because, you know, I love Will Chamberlain. I think I'd love to be the jam my Will Chamberlain jersey because, you know,
I love Will Chamberlain, I think.
I'd love to be the jam band Will Chamberlain and whatnot.
And, you know, Dwight Howard, he's a Laker,
and that's who he's trying to be.
So I was trying to pump him up.
I was just trying to think of the team.
You know, as a fan, you're always trying to think of the team.
And I get courtside, and it was one of the most magical moments in my life.
I was staring at LeBron James.
I was staring at everybody.
I was sitting down with my homie, Brendan, who got me the seats,
and I was just like, wow, we're here.
I'm here, Frasco.
And I did not let one thing.
My boy Farboad's like, you better get into it.
They're down by 16, and I just fucking jumped in there, and I fucking pumped up the team, and we got that W
in the fourth quarter, I was fist pounding Lakers, I felt like I was the sixth fucking man,
it was so beautiful, oh my God, it was the perfect moment, Chicago, this is what I'm talking about,
life will give you some gems if you let it.
If you're always so pessimistic about shit and like, oh God, it's going to be a bad day,
then it's going to be a bad day. But if you just become an open vessel and let whatever weird
experiences come your way, it's going to be a brilliant day because when we take our ego out of the day and
we just live the day for what it is, we could get into a whole bunch of madness and a whole bunch of
good times. So shout out to Open Vessels. I'm pumped up. It's been such a great week. My boy
Pete's a Steve's birthday. We got to party with them and hanging out
with my agency is Paradigm. So we're hanging out with the Paradigm people. My agent, assistant,
Levi. We were kicking it. Chicago's been dope. I'm pumped up. I'm staying at the Hoxton
Hotel. I'm just loving life right now, dude. I'm off. I'm chilling, I'm following the Lakers, the Lakers are my
fucking fish, dog, I'm going like 10 games, you know, I'm probably not, I'm getting selfish,
you know, with this, I'm getting, is selfish a word? Probably, I'm getting, you know, you know,
these courts, I mean, my friends are nice, thank you, a shout out to everyone who has been hooking
me up with tickets, yo, this is, it's such a dream come true, you know, like, I give a lot out to everyone who has been hooking me up with tickets It's such a dream come true
I give a lot out to the world

I'm like super happy today.
And, you know, it's like I've been going up and down.
You hear me every week.
Some weeks I'm like, oh, shit, Frasca, here he goes again.
He's going into that anxiety mode or whatnot.
But it's just been, I can't thank everyone enough.
This band is getting really big.
The shows are getting huge.
You guys are just supporting everything I'm doing.
I just want to say thank you guys.
I can't thank you enough.
These dreams are coming true
and the only way they're coming true
is because of y'all.
I love it.
So thank you. Shout out to y'all. And I love it.
So thank you.
Shout out to y'all.
Chicago's been dope.
Shout out to Packy and the Nantucket boys and the revivalist boys.
It's just, we're a gang.
That's what we need.
We can't do this thing in life alone.
You know, and that's what Jesus talks about.
The lettuce Jesus. Maybe Jesus, the Christians, Lord and Savior, I guess's what Jesus talks about. Uh, the lettuce, Jesus, maybe Jesus, uh,
the Christians, Lord and Savior, I guess, talks about that too. But Jesus is a great guy. And, um, I really got to know him this Huluween and just to see how he is. And he's such a lover.
He's a giver. He cries for people. He's just a a good guy I can't wait for you to hear this interview
We got a lot of big things
What's going on?
I'm finishing my record, dudes
Fly to LA
All week next week
I'm taking a week off from the podcast
Because I gotta finish the record
It's gonna be done in eight days
I am pumped up
New music is gonna be happening in the beginning of the year
It's just a big year for us We're pumped up up. We're getting ready. We're about to announce
a big ass tour that we're doing a co-headline tour with somebody. I won't tell you who,
but it's going to be sick. And yeah, big things with the band, big things. I'm enjoying my
free time off. I'm running. I'm getting my mind right. I'm not drinking as much. I slept
for like nine hours yesterday, which was fucking awesome. I'm just, I'm just, mind right I'm not drinking as much I slept for like nine hours yesterday
Which was fucking awesome
I'm just getting back to the swing of things
And you know, Chicago is a cool city
I never really spent more time than
One or two days in Chicago, you know
So to get like five days here
And get to meet the Midwesterners
And like, the Midwesterners
Midwest people are nice
This is why I moved to
Kansas city in the first place a couple of years ago, uh, before I sold my pad was because everyone's
fucking nice and everyone wants to help you. Like, you know, I misplaced my wallet and the Uber
driver was helping me try to find this shit, circling around and just like get out of the car
and helping me. I'm like, shout out to the mid-fucking-west. So thanks for being good people.
Thanks for riding it out.
It's killer.
We're pumped up.
I'm going to L.A., hanging out with Todd Glass,
working on my new show.
You know, we're doing, you know,
I have two months off,
and I want to bring something completely different, you know.
Listening to all these people that have these bands
that their fan base needs them to fucking play a new show every day
is inspiring me to change the set and have a complete curveball.
So who knows what's going to happen
and who knows what my brain's going to think of and stuff.
So I'm curious to get like, get some help.
And if you guys, so we can make the best show possible
and keep building this fucking music scene.
But ladies and gentlemen, I've been rambling because I am pumped up, dude.
Laker courtside.
I'm going to the Laker game this week in L.A.
I'm not going to get courtside because, you know,
they save that shit for, like, Jack Nicholson and, like, Justin Timberlake. I'm in, like, the D League celebrities now. But I'm not going to get courtside because, you know, they say that shit like Jack Nicholson and like Justin Timberlake.
I'm in like the D-League celebrities now, but I'm in a league.
I can't.
I'm pumped up that I'm in a league now.
So shout out to that.
But yeah, ladies and gentlemen, enjoy Jesus.
Enjoy lettuce.
And I'm going to catch you on the tail end.
And we'll talk a little more with my buddy Andy Westby.
All right, guys.
Love you. Catch you on the tail end And we'll talk a little more With my buddy Andy Westby Alright guys Love ya Alright
Next up on the interview hour
We got our boy Jesus from Lettuce
This guy's funky
He knows
He's a true bass player
He's from California
Orange County, Los Angeles
He's a Laker Orange County, Los Angeles.
He's a Laker fan.
Yo, Chris, play some Lettuce.
The funk.
They all graduated from Berkeley.
They're just killer musicians.
You know, I never really got to hang.
I only know Jesus out of all the guys.
I know Benny a little bit, but Jesus, he comes up and he gives me love.
He talks to me and we have conversations.
He's just, he has a nice philosophy on life.
And I just, you know, he's worked with everybody from hip hop legends.
He worked with Dr. Dre, guys. As a West Coaster, that's fucking huge.
That is like goat status.
So shout out to Jesus.
We talk a lot about everything. We talk
about his philosophy on life and how to be good to people and how to just, you know, take care of
everybody. You know, we're not, we can't be selfish on this world. So ladies and gentlemen,
I hope you enjoy Jesus and I will catch you in the tail end. and a tailor. What up, Jesus?
How we doing, dog?
Man, life is so good. It's so beautiful. I'm so thankful.
What are you thankful about, dog?
I'm thankful about the breath in my lungs.
I'm thankful to have arms and legs and eyes.
And I'm really just thankful to breathe and just to be a person,
to be a human having this experience on planet Earth together
as one collective consciousness together as a living entity called Earth.
I'm happy to be a part of it.
Can I ask you a question?
What is being a human to you?
Just being exactly that.
If you look at the Earth from millions of miles away,
it looks like one living thing, you know?
And I think that that's what we are.
It's just the same as the earthworms or the trees.
And let's talk about the trees in this park where we're at right now,
Swanee.
Like the trees here and the hanging moss off of it
that's just like being a human too
but it's more like being moss
but yeah, I don't know, being a human
explain that, do you think it's
we have big old brains in our heads
you know, like these overthinking
masterpieces that are trying to make sense
and categorize everything all the time
that has a lot to do with being a human
just collecting the mind's thoughts and deciding which thoughts to hold on to and which ones to
let go do you think overthinking is the death of of uh being present it can be yeah it definitely
can be well i guess when you say overthinking thinking is a wonderful thing you know but
overthinking yeah when you're just going over, I saw something or I listened to something recently where the guy was
talking about the archer and when he lets go, it's not aiming and shooting. It's one action.
So it's like being, let me slow that down. So like basically as you move through life and you
act, sometimes you don't get the chance to think it out at all.
You know, that's the opposite of overthinking.
When you overthink,
you've thought it through so many different times.
And I'm a Gemini,
so I've been trying to weigh every option of everything.
Like, which set do we want to see?
We got a choice between 615, this set, or this set.
So I want to think about every option.
And I think that's okay sometimes.
But I feel like there is a point where it gets to be too much, yeah. set or this set so I want to think about every option and I think that's okay sometimes well
I feel like there is a point where it gets to be too much yeah what about um do you overthink um
what's like the most you overthink I know you're trying to always stay present but like what things
in your life do you overthink so much I guess the things I don't overthink are music like when you
think about being on stage and playing bass I really really let go up there. What about personally?
What do you overthink?
What are you having trouble with letting go of at this point in your life?
Oh, nothing at all.
Really?
No, I'm really happy.
How'd you get there?
Oh, how'd I get there?
Just by being peaceful and content in my life.
I know, but did you take psychedelics?
Like what happened?
Did you like, what was the moment where you finally felt like?
No, when I was six months old.
Thanks for asking, bro.
I appreciate your attention to my life.
So when I was six months old, I came very, very close to passing away as a baby.
What?
Yeah, I had this thing called peritonitis.
Acute peritonitis.
I went down in the history books as the first youngest baby to ever have acute peritonitis.
And it was a thing where none of the doctors knew what was happening.
My mother took me in on some heavenly, divine intuition as a mother.
She was very into holistics.
My mother was a natural childbirth teacher.
Did you have this while she was growing you?
Not even a little bit.
No, no.
She's a natural childbirth teacher.
She's teaching hundreds of women how to become, you know, how to have babies without drugs
from the pharmaceutical companies, you know.
She's teaching them how to, like, just breathe and have babies.
So then when I was born, you know, she's in the holistic kind of, I would say, hippie
world, you know, in the 70s.
Where'd you grow up?
In Orange County, California.
Okay, so you're a California kid.
California, yeah.
Southern California.
Same here.
But basically, when I was cognizant, I had hundreds of people telling me,
oh my God, you almost didn't make it to this party called Living.
You know, like, they were like, whoa, we all were praying for you.
This whole church community.
My dad's in the church.
Were you really religious?
No, it was more like, religion is not the word for it.
Like a follower of Jesus and a follower of the spirit,
of the Holy Spirit, you know?
Which I still am.
But that's kind of the vibe.
They were on some, you know, it was 70s.
It was like the late 60s, 70s.
So they were all really into music and community,
very communal living type of vibes.
My parents lived with like five other families
under a communal place.
This is before the church.
You know what I mean?
Isn't it a commune?
No, not me.
This is before.
Yeah, I'm talking about before we were born.
So like this idea of where they're learning these ideas
of how they're raising you, basically.
Basically, they're like a communal hippie-ish type of vibe.
And then they got into Jesus teaching,
which was a pretty mellow pretty
like laid-back version on love is the key you know my father has a song called love is the key
that's really great Tommy Coombs love is the key your dad a good musician he's a phenomenal musician
bro he produced records he produces records and I mean I got to be a kid I'd be like six years old
or seven years old watching him do a string ensemble and having him, I watched my dad stop the string ensemble and say, hey, in
bar 64, one of the cellos is a little bit off on that one. And I was just like amazed,
you know, I'm 10, seven to 10 years old, like watching him do some really miraculous, cool
stuff. Like I was raised in the studio, him picking me up to see the lights on the board
You know like the mixing board do you think this is your first musical moment is your dad inspiring you to be a musician?
100% I mean my dad was in this cool band
It's called love song and there was like his drummers kids were my brothers the bass players kids were my brothers every we had this
Like team of kids that was based on their band together
i want to talk about this but i want to talk about this six months of how yeah let's talk about that
so basically i got to the party and everybody was like whoa you almost didn't make it we all prayed
for you and like god loves you and like you're supposed to be here on a couple seconds so your
parents have this holistic feeling they they basically so they found out you had this disease at six months?
Six months old, my mother just gets a whim.
That's why I said all that holistic stuff.
It was because she wasn't really prone to taking us, like, you know what I mean?
Not going to the, there's Eastern and Western medicine.
And at this point, we know we need both of them entirely.
Like, it's really great to have both of them to draw on to keep ourselves sustained
but you know so she was more on the holistic tip back then is holistic eastern yeah i would say
eastern or just finding other ways besides western okay so she's on this tip so she's doing that
she's doing that but like i'm six months old and she just has a whim i'm gonna take him to the
doctor and she takes me to the doctor and the like, yo, if you hadn't come right now, he was getting like 24 hours,
he would be not a person anymore.
Dead?
Yeah, completely.
Damn, your mom had that good intuition.
Good intuition.
All right, so what happened?
So then they get there, and they have no idea what's going on
for hours and hours.
I've heard this story from my parents.
They're sitting there as brand new father and mother,
and just sitting there like, wow, what are we going to do?
And the doctors are coming out blank faced.
We don't know what's going on.
We called in another team.
We don't know what's going on.
We're going to send them to another hospital.
We don't know what's going on, you know.
So there was basically some sort of just fluid coming out of fluid.
They were finding excess of fluid.
From where?
So what it is, I'll tell you, I'll break the code here. It's like when you get strep throat, this horrible fluid,
like it's really harmful to you.
It coats a little bit of your throat.
So that fluid, it's just like the worst shit ever.
It filled my abdominal cavity and started drowning all my organs
in strep throat fluid.
Oh, no, dude.
And it's not hip.
Yeah, it's not cool at all.
So how'd you cure this?
Like, what happened?
Well, one of the doctors ended up figuring it out, you know?
So one of these great, you know,
angel, miracle, Western doctors figured this out,
that this was what was happening and how to stop it.
I don't know the details on how exactly.
So you were born to stay alive.
Yeah.
So with that, that's pretty fucking nuts, man.
I mean, we have to give thanks for every freaking second of this.
Like, the fact that any of us are doing any of this is a major, major, like, plus.
It's not like we're not, like, you've heard old cats say, like, you're not promised a day on this earth, kid.
You know what I mean?
Like, that's real.
I know.
Like, when did, like, I'm starting to realize that, too. Like, when, you know, i mean that's real i know like when did i like i'm starting to realize that too like when you know we fucking take that mic a lot about this last we take this
microscope and we just dig deep into this thing we gotta take a step back and realize yes that
we're fucking you know we're better than that i mean we're so unique everyone's so unique right
everyone's so unique yeah and like let's go back to what you said. What does it mean to be a human?
It means to do it your way, you know?
Like Sinatra said, do it your way because
you can. And it's like, yeah,
man. So what would be your way?
Jesus? Diving, cruising,
like, spreading love. I heard the Dalai Lama
say you get a certain number of years
on this planet if you can make some people happy.
So my way is trying, you know, like,
I like to make people happy. What's the best way you can make some people happy. So my way is trying, you know, I like to make people happy.
What's the best way you can make people happy?
Non-codependently, hopefully.
No, but seriously.
No, just stoking people out.
I mean, I realized long ago when I started doing yoga,
just smiling at people, not saying anything,
just giving a good vibe with your eyes.
You don't even have to smile.
Just being present in yourself and being...
How important is present to you? Because you talk about
knowing the future.
You talk about being in the future.
Explain that. So when you say you already see
things, are you a psychic?
Astral projection is not
as hard as everybody thinks it is. You can do it.
Explain this. How do you do it?
You know, I don't know.
You get really centered and really focused.
But do you think you've always had that?
The power of the mind.
Like we started off talking about overthinking.
Well, the power of the mind is the most powerful thing we have.
It's the best thing we have.
So we need to use it.
I don't want to say should or need.
But we can use it or we don't want to say should or need but we can use it and we have the option to use it in
very powerful productive ways like as a band gets together or as friends you know you got a
inclination or you have this intuition or um you hear the small voice the still small voice of
what people have called god for years to telling you what you should act on and
how you should act. And that doesn't mean someone else told you that you feel inside of your heart.
I think we all feel inside of our, even our brains and inside of our bodies,
the more we pay attention to our actual bodies, how they're resonating. And cause like basically,
Oh, I'm rambling, but it's a good roundble. I hear it. That there's a lot of organs that think.
I thought the brain was the only thing that thought,
but apparently your stomach thinks.
It scientifically has a thinking process, just like the brain.
Anxiety leads into your gut?
Yes.
And the liver has thinking.
There's a thinking process that happens with your body.
So when you get cleaner and you get more attuned on your body,
you can hear your body telling you all kinds of stuff to do.
So like I heard a great Eastern philosopher say,
when your body's feeling uncomfortable, that's real.
Like feel that and maybe you're not in the right place at the right time.
And, you know, like just feel your body when you can be calm,
being calm and finding a place to be calm and be present and calm, really.
How important is, you're juicing and shit now.
I do celery juice.
I made an apple pineapple juice.
Tell me about it.
Why the fuck are y'all drinking celery juice?
Tell me, why do I need to drink celery juice?
You don't have to.
You don't need to.
No, I want to.
Celery juice just cleans you out.
Pitch me on it.
Well, it's got these cluster salts in it.
It's kind of like rehydration.
We do some good amount of so-and-so called partying.
When you do that, it's like hydration.
It's like rehydration.
I'm really big on the water I drink.
I think that the first key to your health is water.
What kind of water should I drink?
I drink pristine hydro.
Okay.
But there's...
Is it alkaline?
It's remineralized.
It's alkaline perfectly.
It's just one of my homies,
Glenn,
in South County.
You can drink all kinds of water,
but I just think
paying attention
or having attention pay you,
like Lil Wayne said.
I want to get into
your rap career as well, but I want to talk about this,, like Lil Wayne said. I want to get into your rap career as well,
but I want to talk about this, like,
getting your body in tune so your mind can be in tune.
Because, like, it has to be, right?
We need it to be in full circle.
We can get those, like, yeah, the reason you sell
is just so you can feel and try to hear the messages
from your body.
And as, I'm going to call you woke.
Thank you.
What do you think
we could help,
how do you think
we could help
these people
who have these like,
really,
who are deep in their heads?
Do you think it's a,
can we get them,
how do we get them
out of this mind state?
the health,
what you put into your mouth hole
is very crucial
to what happens.
Do you think we're just
putting,
depression has a lot to do
with what you eat?
Yes.
Guaranteed.
A hundred percent.
A hundred percent.
What you intake, you're going to output.
You know?
So like the mind gets dark with chemicals and drugs and, you know, go to the produce
aisle and then leave.
What was the darkest time you've ever been in?
Well, I've never been to Alaska, but I heard
it stays really...
Never goes daytime for a long time.
I don't know.
I'm really blessed. I'm really thankful.
You never got in a fight with anyone in your life?
Oh, yeah. I got in one fight one time. What happened?
No, it wasn't a fight. Someone punched me in the face and I...
For what? What'd you do?
Dude, why are you doing this to me right now?
You don't have to say names.
Oh, well, no.
Well, I was hanging out with...
This is great.
So I was hanging out with a girl friend
that I was not, you know,
doing anything like that with.
But she was my friend
because I had dated her sister.
So I was being friends.
We were in school together
and I would hang out with her.
Were you trying to smash the other sister?
No.
Oh, no. Well, yeah, I was always attracted to the other sister. together, and I would hang out with her. Were you trying to smash the other sister? Oh, no.
Well, yeah, I was always attracted to the other sister,
but she had gone and done her own thing.
We weren't seeing.
Her sister was in school.
We were in school together.
So I was like, I know you because I used to date your sister,
and so we're friends.
So I had a friend, an actual female friend,
which I would like to go into a slight diatribe about having female
or male friends that you are not, even if you are attracted to them,
it doesn't matter.
You're not going to act on any of that
and you're going to have a friend.
Like we really need each other.
Females,
I've got to stop the podcast and say,
females and males,
we got to communicate better.
100%.
If we could communicate better,
the problems of this world would disappear overnight.
Explain this theory.
I just feel like males and females are not
quite hearing each other on the human level
that we can be hearing each other on.
It's just something I've been thinking about over the past few
weeks where it's really
just a matter of communication.
And so, like, communication worldwide
for males and males
or females, all of it, just communicating
better would be great. If we could understand
where each other's coming from, and that doesn't always mean english language or the language at
all just like communicating you know what i mean do you think it's hard for people to communicate
in 2019 because they're afraid of absolutely yes 100 it's hard do you think it's hard to be a
comedian in 2019 or or someone trying to do like pure 100 autistic authentic art? I mean, it's the same.
Life is going to be hard.
It was hard thousands of years ago.
It was harder thousands of years ago.
How do you think we can fix this?
The fact that you can be a comedian right now?
Like think about what I keep thinking about with my grandpa.
That's just a couple generations back.
I had to go through to be a human being.
The difference between that and me playing my guitar on the beach
and living life this way and playing bass you know i got to do a uso tour which was like really eye-opening
iraq and stuff yeah in afghanistan with who no i didn't go to those places i went to japan i just
went to all the bases and talked to the i was the most you know for what peaceful proactive
peaceful person like uh with elliot yamin okay you know elliot yeah he was on
american idol so i played bass for him for a tour or two and uh he was like let's do this uso tour
he's like you want to go to like afghanistan or somewhere it's like popping i'm like no not at all
please thank you let's go to japan i love japan i've been there a bunch of times let's go so it
was really eye-opening to just go and meet different militaries
and realize I'm a hippie smoking pot, playing my guitar on the beach.
I mean, not to be all political, but there's a reason.
My grandpa had to go.
I put up a dollar at the base that my grandpa was stationed at in Guam.
I'm like, wow, these dudes, they didn't want to do that at all.
They just were like, this is what you're going to do.
Here's these boots and go do this crazy shit.
They're like, thank God you and I do not have to do that.
Yeah.
And there's people out there that are, you know, I talk to some cats in the military
everywhere because we fly, you know, and talk to them.
And, like, it's like, thank you, you know.
It's important, man.
None of this may be correct at all, but you're doing it because you...
I don't know.
I'm not trying to say what's correct or not for sure, but give thanks for the fact that there's so many...
This goes back to your conversation about giving people good vibes all the time.
Everywhere, all the time.
So if you're trying to give people good vibes and that's what you're bringing to the world...
Yes.
Then who...
I mean, why do we have to feel like we only have to
give good vibes to the people in our country why do we feel like we have to give good vibes to only
you know it's fucked up let's put out these vibes to the whole universe dude yeah the whole universe
to spread it beyond like i've been reading some really esoteric thinking that says that you know
the aura and the um chakras that says that there's maybe more than seven chakras.
There might be 12 or 13 chakras.
And they were saying
that these chakras go up into the atmosphere.
That our human spirit
may be way, way bigger
than we've conceived of already.
Maybe part of you and part of me
is up by the moon
and up past the moon
and up into the outer, outside this universe
and that we're way bigger than we think we are.
Do you think it's because we don't understand how smart we are?
The energy field.
We don't understand the energy field that's around us,
that's a scientific fact,
that around your body there's more of the energy of you,
or what we call you, or I.
Yo, let's go into a different room.
Let's continue this.
I'm down.
All right.
It is halftime at the Andy Fresco interview hour.
Welcome back to Sliding Into Andy's DMs.
I'm your host, Ari Finlay.
I got Andy's password to Instagram.
We're going through his DMs.
Let's see.
He sent messages to all five members of the Chicago Bulls starting lineup and they just say, fuck you.
So that should be an interesting interaction when he sits courtside.
There's a couple of messages to women that just say, yo, shawty, I will fly you private to Chi-town to sit courtside with me.
Which is interesting because Andy didn't fly private to Chicago. So I'm not sure how that would have worked out.
There's a picture of a rash here that he sent to Dr. Oz.
Granted, I'm not a medical doctor, but that looks awfully contagious.
And lastly, every Monday, he sends a message to LeBron James that just says, I love you, dad.
And he's never responded.
So that's it.
That's been sliding into Andy's DMs.
I'm your host, Ari Finling.
Good night.
All right, we're back.
Yeah.
Jesus.
Back to this moment where you had your only fight.
Yeah.
Let's talk about that and then we'll get some good fries back in here.
I had a really good friend who had a boyfriend
and I knew that.
We were just hanging out. We were trying to sneak cigarettes
honestly. I shouldn't tell that part.
That's okay. Don't worry. We were just trying to sneak stuff from the church
because we were like
bombarded by church stuff all the time.
So we were trying to sneak.
So this was like a religious thing.
Like you were really deep into this
religious thing. See the word religion really deep into this religious thing.
See, the word religion just totally throws me. Okay, so tell me how you...
There's a church.
A church.
Okay, cool.
So you're a part of that.
It was started out on the beach with acoustic guitars baptizing people, yeah.
So, I mean, there's no difference that music being a church and Christianity being a church, right?
And the ocean being a church, dude.
Okay, explain that.
The ocean is a church.
Dude, think about baptized.
Like, I go in the ocean all the time. there's something about once your head goes under the water i think it
has a lot to do with clearing your aura your you know your crown chakra yeah but it has a lot to do
like dude do you feel that you do that you're a laker yeah yeah so when your head goes under the
water and you come back up in the ocean there's to me i just feel brand new every time and i feel
like that's universal around the world does you don't have to be a reading this or that book you
know you can feel the energy of the ocean like think about the moon pulling the ocean making
waves like that we serve sometimes you know do you think we take it for granted this what we have
it's moment to moment every second you know like you
get the chance i yes i yes constantly but like you cannot it's like a moment to moment thing sure
take the whole thing for granted for moments and then you stop and become present again and you
take a couple deep breaths and yes i do that all the time throughout the day every 29 minutes i
have 29 unconscious minutes and i have one you know great moment
where i go whoa this is really happening but at the same time it's like live it you know don't
overthink it live it you don't have to be 100 conscious all day just try as hard as you can
take some deep breaths and realize you know self-awareness how are you affecting yourself
and everyone around you do you take full advantage of the moment with your bands?
Yes.
How so?
Well, we do a lot of improvisation,
which means creating brand new art together
with six of us on stage in time,
in the moment that's going in real time,
that's being made up right then.
Is that important to you?
Absolutely.
Those particular factoids
like the factors of
factors
the factors of making it
from nothing
into creation without
plan with more than one person
in real
time all adds
up to being in a different dimension.
And there's a lot of different dimensions.
Explain that. What kind of dimension do you feel like
when everything's connected in your band?
Or when you're on that stage?
At least the seventh dimension.
So what was the biggest
dimension you were in? What show was it?
Or a moment
maybe you're in the studio with fucking Dre or something.
Was that surreal too?
Absolutely, very surreal
I felt like I was in the studio with superheroes
Major superheroes
How'd that happen?
My power of the mind
The power of the mind and the will of intention
And working really hard on my bass
When I first got my bass, one of the first things I thought of
Was wondering if I could ever get in the studio with Dr. Dre
Really?
Yeah, because I had heard like mike elizondo and um these other cats sean
cruz sean cruz by the way sean cruz sean cruz on guitar on um you know like all the funk bro there's
like some unknown what did you play on those i didn't play anything on those i'm listening to
those as a kid starting to play bass and go, wow.
I'm listening to Dr. Dre records and I'm going, these are bass players and guitar players.
I'm starting to hear them.
And I'm going, wow, this dude uses real live musicians.
Maybe one day.
And then, you know, one day comes around.
You put that in the atmosphere, in that dimension.
From way back, yeah.
And also, it's kind of like not being so like, yes, put it in the atmosphere,
but also just, I thought I want to do this.
It's a thought that's like, I got to do this.
I wonder what the steps are you got to take to do that.
One of them is definitely practicing bass a lot and listening to a lot of hip-hop.
Tons of hip-hop.
When that moment, did you forget about that dream, or was that always the dream?
How did that moment come?
Just like consciousness, you come back to it over and over and then you do other stuff.
Then the moment comes.
What was the moment like?
Who called you?
I had cut my finger.
I had cut my index finger on my left hand with a knife the day before.
So I had a band-aid on it.
It's literally bleeding.
And I'm doing a test run for Dr. Dre in the studio with him.
And I'm bleeding all over my bass.
Yes, totally.
Completely.
Trying not to be.
Trying to be tough.
And the bass player I've grown up to be.
And I've been preparing for this moment.
So trying to be all the way present, which I must have been because I got the gig.
trying to be all the way present,
which I must have been because I got the gig, you know?
And, yeah, so that first night we went in,
we did Crack a Bottle with Eminem, Dr. Dre, and 50 Cent.
This is surreal, dude. So surreal.
I mean, we did this track that night,
and we started playing it with the sample,
and I had my six string.
Was everyone in the room?
No, they weren't there yet.
It was just the band.
It was just me, the drums, the piano, and Dr. Dre.
So I'm doing bass and guitar.
So what is he telling you? I mean, we're going around the room. band it was just me the drums the piano and dr dre so i'm doing bass and guitar so what are the
what is he telling you i mean we're going around the room we're checking out samples we're just
talking we're becoming friends and we're coming musical friends you know we're talking about what
we like and what's cool it's not cool and what do you like about his brain bro dr dre is the
coolest dude of all time he's really into the power of the mind. He gave me some mantras to do.
Like mantras and like projecting your energy.
There's one called I am the source of all wealth that Dr. Dre gave me that just talks about how the earth is waiting for you.
The universe desires what you have to offer today.
And like no one can give exactly what you have to offer the universe today except for you
and the earth is waiting for you to be you.
It's really beautiful.
The center of the universe.
I'll send it to you.
Please do.
I will definitely send it to you.
But did he know you were about this life
or was he always pitching this to everyone?
No, I don't think he knew I was about,
I was pretty shy in there with Dre.
I would like to hang out again and be less shy, honestly,
because I was just so flabbergasted by the whole experience.
It was so awesome.
I mean, he put me on his private jet, and we went to work with Eminem.
I got to fly on the jet with him from Burbank to Undisclosed location
and work on Relapse and Relapse 2.
And we make some really dope music.
I mean, I'm always about, you know, I'm about the music.
So just like him, I was like, we're about the music.
So we got in there, we do a little bit of talking,
we start musicking, like just playing and going through this and that
and playing through all kinds of dope just ideas.
And the keyboard player and drummer were really fresh too.
And so we just got along really well.
And we all had a certain understanding of lots of kinds of music,
a whole lot of kinds of music, you know.
Dilla to gospel to old soul.
I mean, to, like, just lots of kinds of music.
Basically, when you work for Dre, you're just trying to make him stoked.
Yeah.
With music, because we're all music people, whatever.
That's what you're doing with every musician you try to work with.
Anytime you're trying to play music.
When you're producing?
Yeah, or playing, you know. On stage with Let, I try to work with. Anytime you're trying to play music. When you're producing? Yeah, or playing.
On stage with Led, I want Shmeans to get really stoked about a bass line.
Or I'll hear something Shmeans plays and I'll be like, that's the shit.
And I'll look at Shmeans like, yes.
Because I'm literally a fan standing the closest.
I just have the best seats in the house.
I happen to stand right next to the guitar player playing bass.
A hundred percent.
Of music?
I'm a fan of Led.
I fucking love that. I'm a friend of Lettuce. I fucking love that!
I'm a friend of Adam Smirnoff and Adam Deitch and Nigel Hall and Ryan Zordes, Eric Bloom.
Like I'm major fans. So from that philosophy I want to hear something different, something outside
the box. Yeah, new. Especially when you think about Lettuce as a funk band, it's like that could
be kind of constricting. There's a million types of funk but you know like i never wanted to get caught a genre i mean i think genre is that those words
funk and rock and disco and all that it's just a uh try to explain music which is unexplainable
like words do not do it to explain music so we just have our categories that always change and
that's what's beautiful about like an artist like like um boys noise or skrillex you like wow that's brand new like justice like wow that's new stuff
and it's great to see where you can't put them in a genre like the the critic and the reviewer goes
we're not sure exactly what category this is and that's that's the shit i love love that. You're in both scenes. Do you think funk rock and
full instruments is dead?
Or dying? No.
Absolutely not.
It's all about how you record them and how you get the new sounds.
I mean, you can get... Yeah, no, not at all.
Okay. I think a lot
of the electronic music you're hearing,
there's a lot of real sounds
on there that are definitely real music.
I mean, that didn't come out right, but musical instruments sampled and tweaked.
Like, you can take a sound.
I can hit this table, and we can make that sound like an 808 drum,
even though it just sounded high.
We can do anything with it.
So I don't try to, no, none of that's dead.
Nothing's dead.
Everything's alive.
This is what I'm talking about.
I think Jimi Hendrix is alive because you can put on his record,
and he's doing something, right?
That sound wave cuts through the air and cuts into your ear.
He's alive because he's, if you're, what does it mean to be a live human being?
You're doing stuff on the planet Earth.
Well, Jimi Hendrix and Jerry Garcia are doing stuff every day.
A new kid is 15.
He hears that and changes their lives.
How is that dude not alive?
He's totally alive.
So let's talk about legacy.
What do you want your legacy to be then?
It's a good vibe.
I don't know, man. I don't know.
Are you scared of dying?
No.
No?
But I'm trying to avoid it at all costs.
What's your philosophy on death?
My philosophy on life is don't get arrested and don't die.
What's your philosophy on death? Philosophy on death? I don't die. What's your philosophy on death?
Philosophy on death?
I don't know.
I have no idea.
I think that's a solid answer.
I think that more people should say that.
I have no fucking idea what happened.
It's back to overthinking, right?
Dude, no one knows.
The funniest part is that people say they know.
How do you know nobody knows?
Nobody knows.
Nobody knows what's happened before this.
No one's happens after.
We can guess a bunch.
I would love to guess all day and night.
Why were you nicknamed Jesus?
I was in the studio with DJ Quick.
You worked with Quick?
Yeah, for 10 years.
That's my homie.
What?
That's one of my best friends in the whole world.
We need to talk about Quick after this Jesus thing.
Tell me.
That's where Jesus comes from.
He called me Jesus because we're just
hanging out every day
and I was real just
on my self-control muscle.
I was building my
self-control muscles heavily
and I was doing a lot of yoga.
I literally didn't swear ever.
I didn't drink.
I didn't smoke anything ever.
I just like didn't do
anything celibate.
You were celibate too?
Yeah, for 10 years.
Vegan.
How important was celibacy to you?
I was just really interested in the human connection.
I was really excited that my folks were together.
My folks are together.
They're being romantic right now somewhere.
They're like watching a sunset somewhere in Nashville, killing it.
My dad's like checked in seven times a day.
He had to go to the store.
When my dad goes to the store, he checks in, bro.
You know what I mean?
That's love.
Caring about a person, you know?
Caring about a person is love. Like, do you give a fuck if I live or die today? Yeah. You know what I mean? Like, caring about a person, you know? Caring about a person is love. Like, do you give
a fuck if I live or die
today? Because, you know, yeah.
So, like, seeing them do that was like,
yo, this is real. I totally believe
in real love and real connection.
And I think real connection is what we all need.
We need to all connect with each other
entirely, not physically.
We need to really connect mentally
with each other and, like and spiritually, energetically.
Before we get sexually involved.
I wasn't saying that.
I'm saying the whole planet.
Oh, the planet.
Human beings really need to connect.
So what was your reason for celibacy until 32?
I was thinking that you're only supposed to have sex with one person.
Kind of like penguins, you know?
So, yeah, that's what I was thinking is that it would make...
Basically, I just realized...
I literally still do and I always was like praying for my future wife like that
I would find.
You still do?
Absolutely.
Yeah, totally.
Why do you think we can't find her?
Yeah.
Because there's too many of her?
That's what I'm fucking saying.
No, that's not true either.
That's just funny.
Too many options will kill a man?
That's funny.
Kill a man?
No, but seriously, we're in this position where we're always away.
I think we can, man.
I think we definitely can.
So how do we do that when we're always away?
Dude, checking in.
Like Tommy does to Shelly.
My dad's going to Cambodia next week.
He's going to check in.
Now we have FaceTime.
We can FaceTime.
Like, this is not as hard as we're making it out to be.
Has anyone broke your heart?
No.
Not besides myself. I mean, myself. Has anyone broke your heart? No. Not besides myself.
I mean, myself.
I break my own heart every day.
What?
What was the biggest heartbreak for yourself?
I mean, when you get connected to things, you break your own heart.
You know what I'm saying?
Like, if people have heartbreak, that's not some other person breaking your heart.
You know, you've decided on what you think the outcome of the future.
You know, you assume a lot of things And those are not healthy
You can become very unhealthy
Relationships can become very unhealthy
Really quickly, you know what I'm saying?
Where we're codependent
You know what I'm saying?
That type of thing
Where's the most you've been codependent?
I haven't had my heart broken, I don't think
I love people
People are cool Do you think we I haven't had my heart broken, I don't think. I love people.
People are cool.
Do you think we're afraid to have our heart broken because we want to give so much love to everyone else?
Yeah.
Well, man, this is deep.
This is awesome.
I'm a little bit drawing blanks,
but I'm also drawn into a gold mine of what you're breaking into.
You can totally be faithful, man like you can totally be faithful to
anyone anything anyone you're faithful to your music like watch this the clippers just destroyed
us i know i know i'm not gonna start wearing red and blue and white tomorrow but maybe in like two or three weeks.
Dude is killing it, though. But is that life?
Kawhi Leonard, hello.
I know, dude.
But LeBron James, we give thanks.
You a Laker fan?
Always been a Laker fan?
Yes, I watch Magic Johnson.
You watch Magic?
I watched Kareem and Magic as a tiny little kid, four years old.
Watched them, you know.
What?
Oh, my God.
I see the Globetrotters.
I'm born and raised in Southern Cali. What about, okay, growing up in L.A., you know. What, what, oh my God. I see the Globetrotters. I'm born and raised
in Southern Cali.
What about,
okay,
growing up in LA,
you know,
a lot of people
don't understand this.
Surf culture
is the closest thing
we got to.
I think we got culture.
We got breakdance culture.
We got hip hop culture.
We got hustle culture too.
We got hustle culture.
Major hustle.
And it taught us
our work ethic.
I love a good hustle mind
that's not out of control,
you know,
that's really focused
on the passion of it,
but thinking of creative ways
to
make a dollar in this society.
What's your hustle mind right now?
Like at this point in your life.
You can't get paid in the earth this big. You're worthless,
kid. And frankly, camera.
You're upset.
Dude. No, but I mean, why not?
If you need it, which we all seem to need
bread, like dollar bills in this society that we've got ourselves living in.
We've got this society built up.
And I'm not saying go chase dollars.
Definitely don't do that.
But like you got to ask the universe and ask God to provide you.
Like prayer is a lot of part of it.
Like we've always prayed, you know, you pray for money to come to you.
What do you mostly pray for?
We've always prayed.
You pray for money to come to you. What do you mostly pray for?
Pray for protection and pray for safety for my friends
and pray for peace in the heart of all mankind and womankind.
If you were president, what would you do?
To fix this, not politically, people to people.
How would you fix humanity Jesus
I would make sure that no one's like hungry
first make sure no one's
hungry because that seems to be solvable
and I would just really
I think what I was talking about is like the female
and male communication like
really getting smart
and
honest and kind active males and females together
in to talk about and really listen to each other about what we need to do and i think that that's
the key like really coming together with our brains and our you know yeah coming together
with our brains and taking action there's a bunch of problems I feel like could be solved pretty simply
if it weren't for...
I feel like it's like when you start changing up your diet or something like that.
It becomes so easy really fast.
You're like, why was I eating all that crazy stuff?
It's just modes you get into.
I feel like humans are habitual, and we like our patterns,
and we like our routines.
So when you change it up a couple weeks into it...
So we need to get out of our patterns sometimes.
Yeah, change it up. Change up the pattern.
You know,
whatever you're doing,
change it up.
What's the worst pattern
you've had
that you changed?
I would say
the best pattern I had
would be to
exercise self-control
and then also not.
Yeah.
You know,
to like realize
that there's,
give yourself some flexibility
but work on the things you can work on
and work on them hard and don't care
if anyone else is noticing because usually
when you do the right thing no one notices
for years you can do the right thing
every day for years and years
and no one pays any attention
until you fuck up then they're like oh look at
Jesus
you know
so like don't worry about that
just do the right thing
and realize that there's
other factors involved
outside the universe
that whatever we do
is
you know
your karma's real
your actions have reactions
and like
don't worry if anybody
sees you doing the right thing
just do it
what did DJ Quick teach you?
discipline
work ethic
sonics
the sound
how to make were you on how to, how to make... Were you on
Down Down Man? No, that's him.
That's one of the reasons. No. But I
heard that and was like, yo, that's him.
No, that's him on key bass. So when we
did Trouble, we did a song called When I
Bubble This Trouble, you can get big
money on the double.
You know what I'm talking about? So that's the
first song I ever heard myself on the radio. I played
high six string bass. Oh my god, this is so exciting. So there's I ever heard myself on the radio. I played high six string bass.
Oh my God, this is so exciting.
So there's a guitar part that's not guitar.
It's high six string bass.
It goes...
And so I played that and we played it all the way.
So what another thing DJ Quick taught me,
play the track all the way through.
Don't do eight bars and loop it in Pro Tools.
Play that three and a half minutes version of that thing, man.
Don't sit there and loop yourself.
I mean, occasionally still, there's times I do that
for fun. But like, dude, if Quick
was there, you were not allowed to do that.
Was he producing? Yes.
Heavily. He was the boss.
That's called controlling, man.
What was the difference between DJ Quick and Dr. Dre
and their philosophy of how to make a
track? Very similar.
Very similar. Just great sonics.
Like, phenomenal engineering. Phenomenal sonics. So that whatever is playing, great sonics. Like phenomenal engineering.
Phenomenal sonics.
So that whatever is playing, it sounds phenomenal.
Like if the bass is plugged in, it's shaking.
DJ Quick made my bass shake cement.
Not another type of structure.
There was a cement room where it was shaking because of the bass.
Because of the way he EQ'd my bass.
He EQ'd the shit so that when i played anything it shook the
room so you got to realize that kind of power comes a lot of responsibility yeah dog so you
better play that shit perfect bro it's shaking the room dude the power of music is just undefinable
it's unfathomable and it's like the it's very spiritual man it's like the undefinable it's like we're
saying john like trying to discover music is so much like to try and discover spirituality or god
or yourself yeah sure but like yeah just the outer the outer realms the higher beings and the the you
know the higher consciousness is like something that as a like you know gurus gurus and everyone
have tried to study for so long.
And everybody's tried to study this for so long.
And we'll never get to the bottom of it, which is the beauty of it.
Same as music.
We'll never find all the patterns.
It's just beautiful.
Life is so beautiful.
You have all these high moments.
Jesus, has there ever been a dark moment in your life, man?
I mean, I got it over with right away at six months.
I mean, I almost didn't make it to the party.
So no, after that, none.
So did your mom keep reinforcing you that philosophy?
Yeah, and following you.
You're a miracle.
You're a miracle.
You're a miracle.
They weren't like that all the time, no.
I mean, they were just stoked.
I mean, my dad, when you meet my dad,
he's the nicest dude of all time.
Like, here's the thing about my pops.
Like, I'd go to my we would
go somewhere in the car as a family there's four of us in the car we would stop for gas and get
gas or my dad would go in to get gas and like 15 minutes later the three of us my mom my dad and
my brother i mean my mom myself and my brother are going where's dad i would go in and find him
just rapping with the dude that works at the gas station about God and love and peace.
That's you, dog.
He lost track of time completely.
He was in another dimension talking, just blessing this dude, trying to make somebody happy in there, you know?
That's so, dude.
And be like, hey, remember that?
We're in the car waiting for you.
Come out.
Let's go.
Oh, my God.
So that's who he still is right now.
When you look back, do you see more in your mom or you see more of yourself
in your dad?
Both.
Both.
Definitely.
What part?
When you look at how they
clean up the house together,
still to this day,
right now,
without a house cleaner,
like,
they go together
and they make it like
he does the garden
or she'll do the garden
and like,
they just are a team.
At this point,
they do everything.
They've taught each other.
It's crazy to watch them
at this point.
They've taught each other
all the stuff that they know.
And they both do it all.
And they're great.
She'll tell you to your face exactly the truth.
You know, right to your face without sugarcoating it at all.
She'll tell you exactly what's where you're.
She'll show you yourself in a mirror.
Where my dad will encourage you and help you see the future of yourself in the mirror.
What you can be if you do it, you know.
see the future of yourself in the mirror of what you can be if you do it you know just really kind of like loving lovingly showing you a way that could work that's worked for him or and then mom's
just like killing it she's so strong dude i don't even know how to go into house she's just incredible
is that the ultimate quest for you jesus to find love like your parents have love no i want to be
in love with the entire world just like they're in love with each other yeah yeah that's fucking beautiful jesus yeah that'd be nice i feel it i
feel it already you know like we're coming together we're coming together you like the
world's coming together absolutely i feel that so so strong stronger right now than ever do you
think we'll see another renaissance in our lifetime absolutely 100 definitely it's coming
very soon right really yeah right how do you start a renaissance being creative and being true to yourself
and being productive yes to have productive beautiful days where you're true to yourself
and you and you bless other people you give other people some of your power and you trust you trust
people that you can't you know like let's open up to each other more you know i'm not saying let's
get suckered don't sucker each other know. And get sucker punched and shit.
You know, like that's what we're all afraid of.
We're afraid of this person that I want to trust really bad,
that seems really cool, might stab me in the back.
And you know what?
Sometimes they do, but they don't always.
No.
They don't always.
You can't.
I think human nature is to be loving and kind.
Like governments get into a lot of the bullshit.
Yeah.
But like the humans, we want to just hang out, go to the beach, and, like, hang out with each other and eat some food and drink a beer.
Kick it.
Play some ping pong.
I got one last question.
We'll go watch Thundercat.
Oh, yeah.
By the way, this has been amazing, man.
You're a beautiful mind.
Shout out to Thundercat.
Thank you so much, Andy Frasco.
I appreciate you taking this time and, like, being interested in what I have to say.
You're a fucking very smart dude.
I want to know this.
and being interested in what I have to say.
You're a fucking very smart dude.
I want to know this.
If you could give 27-year-old Jesus hot into celibacy
what you know now,
what would you tell him?
I'd say keep doing it exactly how you're doing it, kid.
You got this.
I'd say you're a good kid, kid.
You're a good kid.
Don't change anything.
Thanks for being on the show Jesus
Let's hang out
Let's be friends
Yeah
Okay
Let's be better friends
Let's hang out in LA
Let's go to a Laker game
ASAP
You want to go with me?
A hundred percent
Okay November
Yes
I'll find out when lettuce isn't on the road
But we're playing San Francisco for New Year's
Oh New Year's
What else you got?
Let's talk with Netlez for a second
What do you got going on?
Dude that's all I know
So you're playing San Francisco for New Year's? San Francisco for New Year's I mean else you got? Let's talk with Net Lez for a second. What do you got going on? Dude, that's all I know.
So you're playing San Francisco for New Year's?
San Francisco for New Year's.
You guys are playing
bigger rooms.
This is huge.
This is a good year.
It's been a good
couple years, right?
Give thanks, yeah.
Most high to the most high.
So was that the dream
of this band though
when you were all meeting?
The dream of this band
was just to help each other
be on this...
Dude, I don't know.
We came together.
The universe wants this band to be a band
like the earth wants us what happened give me a quick like i mean just saying when i go out my
door to go to do anything lettuce the the earth starts opening up the red carpet starts pouring
down like they know i'm headed to a lettuce show it's fucked up i'm gonna totally cry so that's
like everywhere we go this band like i'm telling, the rain will stop right before we're supposed to play.
It's so meant to be.
Bro, it's crazy.
Gonna fucking lose it.
Dude, I fucking love you, man.
You're a fucking good guy.
The goal of this band is just to be brothers and to like help each other.
We like really big fans of each other.
We're like stoked on each other's musicality
and just the way the whole thing fits together.
Does this dream come true for you, this band?
It's a dream that I wasn't even,
I wasn't even like strong enough to dream it this hard.
Like we dreamed it together.
Like I could only dream it to a certain point,
but that's when that collective manifestation happens.
Like you can manifest things yourself and that will be a thing.
And that's another thing Dr. Dre told me.
He said anything really, really big and really dope
I ever did
I had a team man
I didn't do anything
by myself
and it's the truth
like you can only manifest
you can manifest so much
and I think that
was what happens with
a wife and a husband
like any kind of
connection like that
you can help each other
and you can become a team
and co-manifest
some bigger shit
than you would have
manifested before
it's what a great company is
or you know
that's what Lettuce is
we manifested it together
like
I'm totally gonna cry again
we sat around
and totally dreamed up
at a festival
late night
like in the zone
in the zone
we dreamed up
playing with the orchestra
and we're like
one day we're gonna play
with the orchestra
and it was such a far-fetched
dream at that point
and we played
a bunch of shows
with the orchestra
we're gonna do speaking of Lettuce we're gonna do some more shit with the orchestra some
more shows with the orchestra coming up and um i'm very proud of you we're going to europe we're
gonna do a europe tour and europe tour in november i think have you ever been to europe yeah yeah
yeah we have it's cool we haven't been enough though so to put this whole interview in a bow tie, basically, if you see a dream,
fucking go to it.
And don't stop, right?
Yeah.
And do the things that it takes to get to that dream.
Don't just wait for that dream.
The dream doesn't just knock on your door and go,
here I am in full bloom.
And allow the dream to change.
Okay, explain that a little bit.
That's like when you dream up something, sometimes
that's a target that you've gotten yourself to go
towards so that you can see the other
target. Because until you walk that
first half a mile, you can't
see the other target. So you're good with making
a little left turn.
Monster rides, huge lefts, U-turn.
I am the king of U-turns in LA.
Illegal, legal, don't care.
I mean, I'm out there doing them.
I'll flip it.
I'll flip the car around.
We'll be going to this place.
We'll be like, nope, change it.
First we're going to Silver Lake,
now we're going to Malibu.
But do you think because of that mind state
is why you're so free and so in the moment?
Go with the flow.
I mean, we've had so much good moment. Go with the flow. I mean,
we've had so much good examples.
Like,
Andy,
like,
we had good examples
and we had examples of just,
you know,
you got to learn.
I think one of the best things
I've done in my life
is learn from the people
right before me.
Like,
not always like the people,
the older people,
older,
just like the people
right before me
a couple years in
or even like,
you know,
look at Jimi Hendrix
and Janis Joppa
and they had no idea those drugs were doing we're gonna kill them yeah they thought they were
smoking a joint you know what i mean and they weren't they were doing some heavy shit and they
killed them so like i feel like we're really blessed to have that example so that we don't
have to get into like doing that kind of like i mean god bless you no matter where you're at in
life and whatever you're doing. I love you so much.
You're a fucking good guy, Jesus.
Damn, dog.
Yeah, but the sunshine is what you need.
Just get some sunshine.
Yeah, and get in the water.
And the sunshine's inside of you, too.
If it's not shining, it's in there.
Listen to the sunshine in your heart.
I fucking love you, dude.
You too, bro. Thanks for being on the show.
Thank you, brother.
Yeah, absolutely.
Thank you.
He's talking shit about the game.
He's got a weird fucking name.
It's Sports with Dolove.
Hello, everybody.
Welcome to Dolove Sportscast.
This week, we're going to be talking some NBA.
Season is back in full swing.
Let's go!
So as we fucking expected, with the fairly easy early season schedule,
the Lakers are off to a hot start.
Crushin'.
AD and LeBron fucking killin' it.
Then you got the Clippers.
What up, Kawhi?
Respect.
Restin', not restin', they killin' it.
They got a deep team.
Okay, okay.
Let's see if they can keep it up
Then you got some other teams that no one gives a shit about
Yeah, Andy, we all saw you sit courtside at the Bulls game the other night
Fucking jumping around like a little jackrabbit
We get it, you have rich friends who can afford good shit
You're a fucking rockstar, fuck you
But guess what, motherfucker, your Lakers still suck dick
They're playing good now.
Can they fucking last a whole season?
I don't know.
You know why.
Because it's all about the Jazz.
This is our fucking year.
Fuck the Clippers.
Fuck the Sixers.
Fuck the Lakers.
Fuck all of them.
Utah Jazz 2019-2020 champions.
Unstoppable.
Number one defense in the league
Three years running
Donovan Mitchell
Third year in the league
Fucking crushing
This guy's gonna win a championship
They're not gonna be able to stop us
Fucking Lakers
You think you got some guys?
Suck a dick
Fuck that
Fuck Paul George
Fuck Kawhi
Fuck LeBron
Fuck Anthony Davis
Fuck Russell Westbrook
Fuck Harden
Fuck that shit
Fuck you Andy
It's sports with Dolav Bulls game was tight Saw you on SportsCenter All right, and there you have it.
What a great story, huh?
Jesus.
Literally and figuratively.
He's a sweet man.
He was crying right in front of me.
I could tell he's a genuine motherfucker.
So shout out to Jesus.
Oh, man, I haven't slept in a couple of days. I just got to LA. I realized when I first
did the recording on the opening segment, I was in Chicago, was all pumped up. Now I'm
in LA. I realized that the Wild Adriatic show isn't next week when this gets aired. It was this weekend.
So it was fucking fun.
It was a little hectic.
I went to this black tie event.
I had to cancel my flight on Friday.
I did this black tie event for Meals on Wheels.
And we raised a bunch of money for them, which was awesome.
And I took some mushrooms because I was with a bunch of fancy ass
people. And, uh, I get nervous when I'm just hanging around. I feel like everyone's judging
my shit. So I took some mushrooms so I could just really enjoy all these, um, trust fundions is,
uh, you know, overspending on, on, um, you know, Palm Springs vacation for charity. It was really
cool. Um, so shout out to all those rich people giving money to meals on. I hate doing those
things. Cause when you, when you don't have that much money and like, these guys are like,
um, auctioning like $15,000 and then I'm like feeling like a cheap motherfucker. Like,
I'm gonna donate a hundred i'm like okay my boy
shorgasm bailed when the auctions were going off so i got left with the fucking trust fundians
and they're like hmm look at this cheap guy just eating all this nice meal not even donating to
the people so um shout out to shorgasm for fucking leaving me in the trenches, but I had a blast, so I did that, we, I fucking, oh, god, I just partied hard, and then I had to get on a 5 a.m.
flight, um, to Albany, and, uh, I got in, and, uh, fuck, and then I'd play at midnight, and then,
so I just fucking just kept the party going drank my fucking ass off and
um then i had to get back in a transportation to uh catch my next 5 a.m flight to get here so now
i'm in la i start mixing the record tomorrow and i'm gonna try to get some sleep but I got friends, Packy and all of my Boston people are in town
so I got a hotel room
in Santa Monica
go by the beach, go talk some shit with Packy
probably keep this
keep this
fucking party going
and then I'll go to bed early
and then start mixing the record
so shout out to Rick Parker
for mixing the new record again.
It's going to be dope.
I'm excited.
Seven days in L.A. in the fucking canyon.
Beachwood Canyon.
Feeling like a pimp.
Just hanging out by the Hollywood sign with all these actors.
Having lunch.
Talking about, you know, talking really loud because they want everyone to hear them.
Fucking sometimes I just hate L.A. for that.
It's bullshit.
But it'll be fun hanging out in L.A. for a week.
So if you're in L.A., come holler at me.
Any of the podcast fans in L.A., I got nights off.
I'm staying in, like, Silver Lake for the week.
So holler at me.
Let's get some fucking hangs in.
I fucking grew up here, I got,
going to the Laker game, going to a couple Laker games, going on Friday, we're gonna keep this
sports tradition, dog, just keep it rolling, um, shout out to AEG for hooking me up, so thank you,
AEG, but that's it, guys, you know, um, not a lot of philosophical stuff on my end for the opening seg, uh, but, um, I'm feeling great,
you know, I'm doing things I want to do, you know, my time off, you know, making a little money here
and there, um, just things are, things are looking up, so if you're feeling down, just know tomorrow
could be better, we just got to give tomorrow a chance and if we give tomorrow a
chance with you know and a clean slate or whatever whatever fucking hippie thing you want to say
about it but just give it the opportunity to have a good day i think we'll have a good day
so i'm gonna give tomorrow i'm gonna clear head, not overthink the mixing process. I always do that for the records.
You make the record and then you feel like you put all this pressure
into mixing the record.
I'm like, why?
The pressure should have been recording it.
So I'm going to give myself a little break.
I'm going to enjoy this process.
I'm really proud of this record.
I can't wait for you guys to hear it.
So on that note, Arno, give us something sweet.
Give them something sexy. Show the world what the Europeans have in philosophy so we could
try to all coexist and try to be the best people we can be. All right, guys. Love you. I'll see
you in two weeks. We got Marco Benevento on the show. I'm taking this week off like I told you. I'll see you in two weeks. We got Marco Benevento on the show. I'm taking this week
off like I told you. We got Marco Benevento
and I got some fucking pumped
up news that's going to happen.
Can't tell you because fucking
Schwartz gets all pissed off when I
announce shit.
We're going on tour with Big Something for
a month. It's going to be tight. I know
I was going to wait, but
my fucking time.
I'm just so fucking busy. I know I was going to wait, but my fucking time, I don't,
I'm just so fucking busy. I forgot that we're announcing the tour
when
this podcast episode
comes out. So I'm going on tour with Big Something. We're doing
a co-headline, Bill.
It's called Big Something vs. Andy Frask in the
UN. We got comedian Kyle
Ayers on the tour being the
announcer and doing some stand-up
It's going to be fun
Tour dates are up
Check them out
We start Panic in the Playa in January
And we go all the way to February
And big rooms
We're sharing rooms
We're playing in all, you know, Chicago's, Nashville's, Boston's, New York
Go check it out
Buy tickets.
Let's fucking pump this up.
We're switching headline each night
or whoever's more popular in that area.
So I can't wait to hang out with those boys for a month.
Get you hip on big something.
They're really nice guys.
I really dig them a lot and I look forward to it.
So all right, guys.
I'll see you soon.
And until next time, be safe.
Comb your hair.
Wear condoms.
I heard eating pussy gives you HPV.
I don't believe or I was listening to Howard Stern.
They're talking about how eating pussy might cause throat cancer.
Well, don't worry about it.
Eat all the pussy you can.
But wear condoms just in case.
No more babies unless you want one.
And let's keep this overpopulation unwrapped.
All right, boys and girls.
Love you.
Talk soon.
Bye.

As the leaves on the trees turn and drop,
I turn inside and start cleaning the house
to prepare it for me being home for some time.
I was gone most of the year and my house turns out to have a life of its own.
I find the letters in my fridge turned soggy and brown,
the receipts under my couch paled and withered,
my books eaten by silverfish and some of my trombones lived in by creatures.
I nailed the goose skeleton to the wall,
I chopped my cupboard in two, thus providing for a
neat little bench and some firewood, and I bought a new hoover. I'm breaking free, my friends. See you next week!
