Starting point is 00:00:00 You ever just like freaks someone out in a 10 or like a spun out fucking wook just like... Dude, a million times. I'm serious. Dude, it happens every day. And I love it. It feels so good, you know? Sometimes it feels good to scare people. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:00:16 You're a big person. It's just like, oh, you know? Like, and they're like, holy crap. Well, when I started out, you know, I didn't have the glasses. That's just why I wear the glasses by bandana. Yeah. Because I was much scarier back then. And I would make, I mean, literally make babies cry.
Starting point is 00:00:32 I'd be going through these towns and, you know, the old ladies would look at me like, I'm like the devil, you know, like, oh, you know what I mean? And it's like, that didn't feel very good. So you've always felt you're misunderstood? Yeah, for a long time. You've been friendly your whole life. You've never killed someone by accident? That's right. That's right.
Starting point is 00:00:48 Really? Never by accident. All right, and we're live, Andy Frasca's World's World Trade Podcast. I'm Andy Francisco. Sorry, I'm doing this opening solo rogue here. How are we doing, everyone? How's your minds? How's your heads? Are you staying out of trouble? Are you not letting the demons that is called anxiety just try to fuck you? Because sometimes it's going to fuck you.
Starting point is 00:01:16 And if it fakes you, we got to take a deep breath and say, not today, devil. I'm out here trying to live my best life. I'm in King of Prussia, Philadelphia. I didn't even know this in town existed. But I guess it's close to Philly, so you can say I'm in Philadelphia right now, and it's been a wild tour. Pretty fucking crazy events have happened last week.
Starting point is 00:01:38 Sean blew out his ACL, or blew out his knee. Sean had to fly home. He's getting surgery, so Andrew Cooney. Shout out to Andrew Cooney for fucking, my man, filling in. Filling in! And so it's been fun. I have, like, a complete new band
Starting point is 00:01:54 because then Floyd had to take his kid to middle. school so we had to fly out so i have like a completely brand new band and it's kind of i'm kind of enjoying it's kind of it's fucking fun to like kind of get my hands went into a new gig um so shout out to ritchie for showing up shout out to andy ova fucking holding it down and um yeah shout out to sam for just uh killing it but um yeah it's been tough uh but we're pulling through we got 12 more shows in 13 days we're at the final stretch of this growing pains tour then um i'm gonna go fucking hide somewhere i might go to like oh i am i'm going to charleston i'm going to go for five
Starting point is 00:02:37 day i can't really hide in charleston but i'm going to go see my boys little stranger we just announced holy smokes music festival y'all that's gonna be fucking fun holy smokes uh me and little stranger are going to be throwing a festival at nelson's ledges our first festival September 26th, 27th, 28th, I think, that weekend, whenever that weekend is. But we got on the lineup, Big Something, we got cashed out. I haven't heard those guys.
Starting point is 00:03:04 I heard they're cool. And then we got a bunch of rappers and John Shields from the little strangers, old band Long Miles is coming playing. We got Jarre. We got Skippy. We got the whole gang. So come on out to Holy Smoke.
Starting point is 00:03:17 It's our first ever festival. It's going to be a lot of fun. We're playing two nights. Strangers playing two nights. Then we've got some headliners. We're keeping it. And then we're going to play some dodgeball. We're going to do some interviews.
Starting point is 00:03:29 It's going to be totally a very stranger Frasco Festival. So if you have nothing to do, come on out to that. Yes, it's happening. It's been, is it happening? Is it not happening? Yes, and we are promoting a music festival a month and a half before it comes out. But hey, fuck it. Let's yolo, baby.
Starting point is 00:03:48 Let's get it going. I believe in our fans, and I believe in Little Strangest fans, and I think we're going to sell this. baby out um but the tour's been going good um every show's been sold out mostly and i just you guys are coming out and you're supporting and you're buying merch and you're just telling us your stories of how this new record means so much to you guys and i can't thank you enough from the bottom of my heart thank you thank you thank you because like i said we're in this together and you know how hard this band's working and you guys being there and being there early and showing us your love it's
Starting point is 00:04:23 It's going to make me cry. So I love you guys so much. And thank you so much for just doing it and believing in us. But yeah, and then, but this episode is really a fun one. I have a Sacksquatch on the show. Yes, a real-life Sasquatch is on the show. I guarantee you guys, really, for real, you have to, you should watch this one on YouTube or on volume.com because it's a real fucking saskwatch. and he's just he tells us his story i mean
Starting point is 00:04:54 he's not bullshit about this shit he was addicted to the drugs you know that's not made that's not made up and uh you know um we kept his voice uh in uh lowered so you don't know who it is because it is saskwatch and he deserves of his privacy too but he was getting deep about his drug addiction he's got a new girlfriend he's I have a Sasquatch has a kid now. Baby Squatch. Like, God damn, this man's living the dream.
Starting point is 00:05:23 Just traveling in his minivan, just all around gig to gig. I wonder how air conditioning must work really well. Because if you're, if you're, if you're, you're, you're, you're, you're sassas, all that hair and shit, got to be fucking just sweaty all the time. Got to, he's probably just, got, you can't keep the hygiene that good, just doing that, but, you know, good on them. But you're going to love this, man. He plays saxophone.
Starting point is 00:05:48 He's a great producer. He's blowing up in the scene. I mean, he went solo, and it's working. So I think we're going to really love this interview. But like I said, enjoy that. But like I said before, we're going to have anxiety. We're going to have some days we're just depressed. Some days we're beat up.
Starting point is 00:06:11 You've got to keep your head up and say tomorrow's going to be a better day. And if we keep on saying tomorrow's going to be a better day, then it forces us to have a better day. If we say tomorrow's going to be shitty, oh, look at me, pity me. Why has everything happened to me? Oh, this bad shit. You're going to keep on having bad luck. But if you say not today, devil, we're going to get through this.
Starting point is 00:06:31 And tomorrow's, even if today fucking sucked. Even if today sucked, tomorrow's going to be better. That's all we could do is try to be better every single day. And if we could do that, then we could get through any depression, any anxiety. You know, even if tomorrow does suck. and it might. That's okay. At least you try to give it a good day.
Starting point is 00:06:50 And that's all we could dear for. And that's what me and Sasquatch talks about. Trying each day to take away the chaos and add harmony. All right. Enjoy the Sasquatch interview. And I'll see you next week. What's going on next week? Yes, I think I'm with Nick.
Starting point is 00:07:08 I fly home. No, I don't. I have one more week of tour. Fuck. We'll do an archive episode. I'll put out an old episode. that you guys, that you guys liked. And we could do the World Saving Archives for next week.
Starting point is 00:07:22 But instead of taking a week off, or maybe I'll just put out an interview that I just interviewed somebody and I didn't really, wasn't really a popular person, but I thought it was a good interview. And maybe I'll put that one out. All right, guys, enjoy Sack Squatch. Enjoy your day. Enjoy your week.
Starting point is 00:07:39 And thanks for, thanks for always believing in us because we believe in you. All right, love you, bye. Wow. On location, a secret location, because they don't want to know where he is right now. This man has been in, what, the woods? Yeah, the woods, you know. But the weather's been crazy, so, you know, I'm in and out of everywhere.
Starting point is 00:08:08 I'm everywhere. I know. It's crazy. You have a crazy life. I'd love to tell our fans and listeners about it. plays down we have sax squatch on the show today how we doing i'm doing freaking amazing yo i mean it feels like your career is really starting to take off his last uh year
Starting point is 00:08:26 what are you been doing thanks uh you know we've just been making music i guess um i think that's the thing that's the most important is the music yeah yeah totally yeah it's it's crazy even seeing you in person i know you guys you're opening for us this next couple of days so I was like I had to get him on the podcast we still don't know where he came from give us a little bit your origin story like how why did you decide to finally come out and like I don't know hang out with humans yeah well you know I come from a musical family my grandfather Gigfoot and my sister Big Flute but um yeah you know there was actually a lot of hesitation for me going out to do shows literally everyone was like you know you're
Starting point is 00:09:13 fucking idiot you know and like nobody's gonna believe in you you're a joke and my whole life you know no one's ever really believed in me and finally just had enough you know and i think that's i had enough and i'm just like i got to do this you know if i end up in the corner of a bar somewhere at the end of my life i'll be happy with that they say a lot of uh you know family trauma fuels um work ethic and stuff so maybe well that's deep yeah well i'm just like it's i'm very curious about the whole the whole thing like why did you side to play the saxophone why did you side to like because it's very you're you're putting yourself in a dangerous spot people have been trying to find you for a long time that's a great question um the saxophone is when i heard it for the first time it's like
Starting point is 00:10:08 such a primal instrument you know it's like it's like a wild animal yeah and um when it's played right i heard it played by a junior walker um and i was like holy crap like this is what i got to do i got a saxophone and just became obsessed with it you know like you ever just become totally obsessed and just make something your whole personality yeah yeah drinking yeah yeah well you got a good personality oh thanks buddy thanks yeah it's uh i don't know sometimes we cope things you know it's like the same thing with your parents not accepting you right yeah so we cope it and say like i could prove them wrong right yeah proving people wrong yeah who would have known that would be such a good
Starting point is 00:10:57 fuel or in your case you've been proving people right that you exist yeah or some people right some people because there are people who believe and that's what i found out actually is that there are people who believe okay you know like who they're everywhere you know i've been playing these bigfoot festivals all over the country and i found out that in the united states about 20 to 30 people 30 percent of people believe in bigfoot that's fucking crazy that's a giant no that's that's tens of millions of people yeah um and that feels really good I had no idea that even that market was there. And it's a very interesting market, you know?
Starting point is 00:11:36 Yeah. Bigfoot was like, the culture in the U.S. was really big in the 70s. And so a lot of the women that are still alive from the 70s are the ones like DMing me, like all this stuff. Oh, so you got like a big like menopausal fan base? At first, yes, at first. That was like the first fan base, you know? Yeah. Yeah, because in the 70s it was like, oh, Bigfoot had my band.
Starting point is 00:12:00 baby like check out my baby's covered in hair you know how old are you saxquash a 31 just had my birthday oh happy birthday buddy yeah thanks so much what i'm i'm just very curious like tell me about you have a tour manager like how do you travel i mean you're kind of a big thing what do you travel in Chevy express you travel in a Chevy express you travel in a Chevy baby yes yes do people just see you on the road and be like what the fuck he who is it I have a license plate that's a sax squads actually really it's kind of vain whatever i like it yeah and it's not like a it's not like a glorious van it's not like i'm flexing too hard or anything have you had any past gigs before you went solo um you know not really um the saxquatch name kind of just came about due to a nickname because i'm a
Starting point is 00:12:52 Sasquatch who became obsessed with the saxophone. And so it was kind of like shut up Saxquatch, you know. Have you ever like taking any like psychedelics? Yeah, I had a phase for sure. I had a phase for sure. Like what? What were you taking? Anything that anything you got, bro.
Starting point is 00:13:11 Really? Yeah, anything you got. I would be freaked out if I saw a fucking Sasquatch on cocaine. Yeah. Did you just take cocaine? Yeah. Yeah, but um. What were you like? Were people scared of you? I'm already like, you're sober now and I'm scared of you. Yeah, I don't anymore, but I have to say it was like, I didn't do it.
Starting point is 00:13:32 I think like other people did it. You know, it was more, it was kind of sad. Why? How are you doing it? It was just kind of sad, you know, the party's over and I'm somewhere else, you know, it's 5, 6 a.m., you know what I'm saying? And it's, you know, we're in the back of a U-Haul, you know what I mean? Just howling at the moon. Yeah, outside the gas station.
Starting point is 00:13:50 Yeah, exactly. Really? you were that into Coke? I mean, I mean, can we talk about that? What do you think triggered you having such a bad drug addiction? Well, you never know. Addiction's a complex topic, you know?
Starting point is 00:14:05 Yeah. I've been sober for about 13 years. Oh, wow. Yeah. So it's been an amazing journey. I think honestly, like, I think I was just seeking something kind of spiritual. You know what I'm saying? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:20 And so I try to make the music kind of a spiritual experience, in the shows. So you're, what got you into drugs? Like, what was, why did you start doing a bunch of blown? I don't know. I was just different than other Sasquatchez. I fucking bet. You know, you never know why. It's just one day you go, wow, I'm going to do that.
Starting point is 00:14:46 Some people, like, do you get talkative on Blow? Do you get sad? like what's your like what's your blow take um i get uh quiet and i look for stuff that i can sell shut the fuck up what was the craziest thing you sold on cocaine oh one of my saxophones man no way yeah why'd you do that you wanted more coke or like yeah it got that bad yeah i mean It's real, man, yeah. I mean, I wouldn't have gotten, I wouldn't have gotten clean if it wasn't, if it wasn't a problem, I guess. So what, hold on, so you sold your, when you, okay, so what time did you sell your sex?
Starting point is 00:15:31 Like, give me the whole story of that. That probably, like, that was probably the last day you got sober then, right? No. No, but it definitely hurt, you know, I was just, it's definitely a moment when you're like, of clarity, when you're like, oh, I'm not in control here, you know, I'm saying. Oh, man. Yeah. In the back of a U-Haul, you just be rip and blow. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:54 Holy shit, man. I'm sorry, man. Bro, life is good today, don't know. I know, but, like, maybe that's what the music kind of saved your life. Again, it's hard to say because when, I mean, we're talking about getting clean, you know what I'm saying? And that's a really complex topic, but I felt like I had to actually put my music to side to the side for a second. and find out who I was. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:22 A huge identity crisis, you know, because it was so wrapped up into the music at the time. Yeah. This was 15 years ago, you know what I'm saying? Yeah. To have to relearn music almost just because I didn't know how to be inspired. You know what I mean? Right. Like authentically, because my whole life was wrapped around kind of chasing dopamine
Starting point is 00:16:42 and like, that's almost how I created music at the time 15 years ago, 15 years ago. I was like, oh, what's the do? dopamine release here what's it going to be like for the person listening you know right and um and now it's much more about like a connection on a on a on a on a human level right you know what i mean um you know life's not all dopamine you know what i mean that's what that's why i had to like slow down taking drugs like i didn't i didn't like having to like shovel back the dopamine from the morning because I fucking wasted it all. Like, I've been taking less and less cocaine lately.
Starting point is 00:17:23 And I feel my dopamine slowly coming back. I see a lot of people that I hang out with that just do blow all the time. And they're like, the mornings, they don't have any dopamine. So, like, they're happy when they got that fix. And then in the mornings, they can't fucking pull themselves out of bed. And they think the world's against them. I think the dopamine thing isn't. important you can't just process dopamine your whole life you need to find a way to have it come
Starting point is 00:17:52 back naturally if it's music if it's falling in love if it's i don't know having a hobby something find something that keeps the dopamine so you're not relying on this powder or this fucking ecstasy or this weed to um kind of keep you in the strain narrow right a million percent and i started going to therapy and um you want the therapy yeah i still go to therapy. Okay, hold on, dude. How do you, how does Sasquatch go to therapy? Like, what does you guys? Sasquatches and humans have a lot in common. I know that you know. And so, came from y'all. Yeah. And one of the things he suggests is because I've been alone for a long time. Yeah. And so he was like, we got to learn how to be alone without being lonely. Oh, that's so good
Starting point is 00:18:37 point. And then, and then we got to talk in and that was one of our goals. And then he was like, you know, let's talk about finding you some hobbies, one of some things that you like, you know? And I was like, well, I used to love playing chess when I was younger, you know? Yeah. So I got back into playing chess. I started playing Yu-Gi-o with my dad, you know? Oh, fun. And these little things that I can do throughout the day to, like, get connection with something else.
Starting point is 00:19:02 It is a spiritual feeling, and I love that stuff. And it honestly, it makes creating so much more relevant. Because to me, art is all about context. It's like, would you rather, would your message rather be chaos? harmony you know when i was exactly when i was when i was like using drugs and everything at the end of the day the truth was that my life is a giant unmanageable chaotic mess oh yeah i realized that the minute i started taking control of uh making my show harmony instead of chaos is the minute we started getting more successful too yeah and and harmony i think it's about um like kind of almost peace
Starting point is 00:19:40 you know um and letting life happen and not trying to control everything and that's really hard for musicians yeah it's dude i'm telling you i mean you're living out of a fucking minivan dude yeah i'm living out of a bus i mean not even a bus a bandwagon that's a basically a pop-up trailer that just bounces around i mean we are the one percent and it's hard to relate with anyone because we are the one percent that people try to like understand our life like i'm glad you found you have a lover what's her name thick foot thick foot she travels with you right yeah yeah she understands you yeah have you had a kid before yeah i um we have a almost four year old almost four year old yeah how is that how is how is how is how is it how is it hard as
Starting point is 00:20:25 raising a kid in this it's a it's such a it's such a big balance having a kid and and having to tour you know yeah how do you do it basically i'm touring on the weekends um and um it takes a village you know my folks help out at home and everything what are your parents are again um they're they're just fellow saskwatches i just call mom and dad we have saskatch language okay cool oh cool um yeah and he's so great um little squash little squatch that's what he that's what he goes guy so cute yeah he likes my music too so he'll make the music with me sometimes he actually wants to be on a track how old is he four yeah almost four he's starting to realize what missing someone is um yes but you know
Starting point is 00:21:14 know not in the same way that maybe we understand it yeah they're still young right and i always come back pretty the tours i do are never that long actually right if i do like a full tour it's usually i i only do about two weeks at a time so it's nothing great it's not like at a time are you only one support in your family um yeah yeah hard um you know growing up is hard yeah growing pains yeah thanks brother Thanks. Thanks. I'm finding that thing.
Starting point is 00:21:48 Damn, Sasquatch understands. He knows me. Yep, yep. That's crazy, man. So I would like to know the moment. What was the moment when you turned chaos into harmony? Do you remember that moment, like, where you had to stop torturing yourself and try to live in peace with yourself? I think there's many moments.
Starting point is 00:22:10 But, you know, kind of having spiritual experiences. I feel like I've had so many just by seeking them you know, and looking for them. Yeah. Like what? What do you seek? What are you seeking?
Starting point is 00:22:26 I guess I'm seeking to just get out of my own way. Yeah. You know what I mean? How hard is that? It's difficult. You mean for a sack squat? Yeah, because, you know, we kind of got the bug. Do you have the bug?
Starting point is 00:22:41 Yeah, of course. I live on the road. Yeah. I got the bug. We want to do it It's kind of our dream We live for like To interact with the crowd
Starting point is 00:22:50 And to have an amazing time And to just know that we're doing that I feel more comfortable on the road Than I do just Chilling in my house I feel more comfortable in a hotel Man can I tell you something One time I got done with the tour
Starting point is 00:23:03 And for the first time ever I had made a little bit of money And I was like gosh This tour was so tough I'm gonna take a break Yeah I don't know if you've ever done that No, I've never done that.
Starting point is 00:23:15 I just make money and then it's keep it in my bank account. Yeah, but don't take a break because... When you take a break, what happens? Depression. I fucking know it, dude. I fucking know it. That's why I don't want to stop, kind of. Even if I'm, like, a little tired, I'd rather be a little tired and be completely happy
Starting point is 00:23:34 than, like, being tired and depressed because I'm not doing what I should be doing every day in my life. I mean, that's living the dream, right? Yeah. You know, I remember that time that I decided I was going to, like, put music aside and just focus on making sure I'm alive. Yeah. And I remember, you know, walking down the road and being like, man, if I saw a musician playing on the side of the road and I knew that I wasn't doing that, I would feel so bad. Right. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:24:04 Same. And I just, so I just have to do it, you know? I just have to do it. Yeah. It's who we are. It's what we've tried so hard to do for so long. down right um now you're getting some success yeah yeah it feels good you know no you don't really feel it until someone says it you know right or just like in it you don't feel it until like
Starting point is 00:24:24 you take your head you pop your head up from fucking boots in the ground and realize oh shit i've been i've been trying to do that lately it's like kind of appreciate what i've been doing you know like i'll just like i've just been working so fucking much and i see i know i'm getting more successful but i don't want to put my eye off the prize but sometimes i i have i have a couple people in my life who are remind me hey look up look what you're doing there's thousands of people here you're you're you're reaching milestones you know it's like sometimes we have to be reminded that all this hard work is actually paying off you're so right and it's the little things too um like like you run into one person and they say they say something like um like thickfoot's
Starting point is 00:25:10 the other day ran into someone and they were talking she came to me and was like hey like this guy was like on the verge of like ending himself and then saw your YouTube video and decided to take his grandfather's old sacks out of the closet and play it and now he's like now his life is doing so well and like you're his inspiration and I'm just thinking in my head I'm like that is so like that's what it's all about is helping people right right and if you were asking of why we do it, I think it has to be about helping other people at the end of the day. 100%. Because if it's about us,
Starting point is 00:25:47 you know, that's just not the point. Right. It's not about us. We're not doing this for our health, Sasquatch. We're doing this to fucking heal some people. And probably heal us too. I mean, look at your story. Got out of cocaine. You've been ripping, I can't believe we were ripping cocaine in a
Starting point is 00:26:02 U-Haul. That's fucking crazy. That's crazy. Yeah, yeah. Was that before, like, you're in bands? after you're in bands, like when you're... No, it was during, you know? Like, who knows?
Starting point is 00:26:16 I was just one of those people that's drawn to it. Yeah. Me too. I love cocaine so much. Yeah. I got to stay away from it because I like it too much.
Starting point is 00:26:25 Yeah. You know what I'm saying? Just crying inside. I fucking love Coke so much. I like it too much. I got to... I'm like, but it teaches you willpower, you know? I've like, this has been a whole kind of clean year.
Starting point is 00:26:43 I've been kind of like, I'll do Coke every now and then, but I've been, I stopped smoking weed, really. I stop taking mushrooms, kind of. I eat a little bit. I eat like a microdose, I microdose a little bit during the show, but I don't eat them all day like I used to. I feel like I'm finally like, I have control of my depression now. And sometimes when you don't have control your depression, that's when you start, I think
Starting point is 00:27:09 that's when you start taking drugs and shit. Yeah, just like losing it, like fucking snapping. Yeah, because it's fun at first, but then you're filling a void. And then when you fill a void, that means that's when it starts to get in trouble. Yeah, you've got to feel good in your life. I mean, you can't just be miserable all the time and expect to not take drugs, you know? You got a point, brother. You got a point.
Starting point is 00:27:34 So you've got to feel good. You got to feel good. And that's important. How hard is it to feel good? How hard is it to feel good? It's hard. It's hard to allow yourself to feel good, am I right? That's the question.
Starting point is 00:27:46 You got to allow yourself to feel good. We're too afraid to enjoy things because we're afraid what other people are going to think of them, right? Yeah. What's your take on humans? Like what? Do you think we suck? Um, no, no. I think we're equal, you know?
Starting point is 00:28:01 I think we're the same. Some greedy saskwages out there? You said greedy? Other greedy saskwatches? That's what I'm saying. I think it's just kind of a human experience. It depends on what road you go down, you know? Like, before I traveled that much, I thought that maybe other people were completely different.
Starting point is 00:28:21 Other Sasquatches were completely different in other places. Yeah. And then I don't know if you've come to find this, but just traveling, it's like, oh, humans are humans, no matter where you go. And Sasquatches are Sasquatches are just kind of the same. Right. Depends on the circumstances and the context of things. I hear you. You know, hopefully we can add a lot of.
Starting point is 00:28:40 a lot of inspiration to people and i just want to help people feel good yeah how do you think how how do you think you know what type of advice would you give people to make them feel good um it's tough um you know i started doing some meditation yeah and like guided meditation is a great way to start um you know like i said i do the whole therapy thing it helps right you know you got to try you got to try every day try try try try you can't take a day off right um and some days feel like ls we're just gonna take the l and move on yeah yeah yeah you know so yeah so um when was the biggest l you've ever taken the biggest oh that's a really good question um biggest oh man just humiliating myself how about that yeah like why tell me you ever you ever just uh you ever just you know double down
Starting point is 00:29:36 on a bet and just and then just lose it all and then it's just like i'm doing it right now brother no i've uh yeah for sure i mean double down and losing it's humiliating but at least you tried yeah and the hope is that we learn from our mistakes what'd you do tell me i don't want to know what i'm trying to think of some of the just the biggest else uh like sitting in with people and not having the microphone work and just having the laptop shut down in the middle of the set. You know what I'm saying? Just complete L's. Have you ever had a spinal tap moment where you just can't find the stage and you're just sweating?
Starting point is 00:30:17 I mean, you're a big person. I've had some very close calls where I almost just completely ate shit. No. Dropped over a monitor. I mean, you can't see anything. You're wearing glasses and you have a saxophone. Yeah, like... Pit Vipers, you know, I've got these big-ass feet, so...
Starting point is 00:30:33 I got this big... how do you have sex um the same way i have sacks is it like dog a lot of doggy style i mean you're a blowing like i was i was always curious that you could probably have a hog on you yeah yeah well that's what they say but uh you know big feet
Starting point is 00:30:58 big sacks yeah what about um your your your girlfriend she's uh she in pain when it has Like, what is it like? Thickfoot, um, you know, she can throw it back, dog. She can throw it back. Yeah. Fuck, yeah. That's my girl.
Starting point is 00:31:13 Yeah, that's pretty wild, man. I'm curious about how you're selling out shows. You said there's a philosophy to selling out shows. And you've been selling out shows the last year. What have you and your girlfriend been doing to, uh, trying to get people, you know, get people to recognize who saxquatches? Yeah, well, the first and most important thing is to just make the show so, fucking good you know i got my laser license from the government you got a
Starting point is 00:31:38 laser machine i got i got four um four class a laser shut the fuck up saskwatch are you serious yeah so so i'm running um i'm running my ableton setup you know i got the stems i got stuff but then when you trigger certain scenes i've i've built in it's um it's midi to DMX to Ilda to the laser So I've done some pre-programmed patches In there But that I've designed these layers
Starting point is 00:32:06 So the laser shows are also shooting laser beams Over people's heads That's fucking right So what What's To get a certificate to do lasers Like what's like what's it take? It's a really
Starting point is 00:32:18 Rigorous process But You get blind a motherfucker Yes Yes It's serious It's really serious Fucking scary
Starting point is 00:32:27 we did yeah so we got insurance like you have to get like band insurance um no the variance kind of includes its own kind of you're going to be responsible if something bad happens oh my god so if you blind someone it's your responsibility yeah that's that's basically what it is you know um have you ever had like a look like you do a lot of festivals and uh you know you're just you know vibing at night has you ever just like freak someone out in a 10 or like a spun-out fucking wook just like dude a million times over man and you know what what's what which one was the bit the best like oh my god just freaked out dude it happened every it happens every day and i love it i love it feels so good you know sometimes it feels good to scare
Starting point is 00:33:16 people i know i get it i get you're a big person you know like and they're like holy crap um well when i started out um you know i didn't have the glasses this is why i wear they glasses than bandana because i was much scarier back then and i would make i mean literally make babies cry um i'd be going through these towns and you know the old ladies would look at me like i'm like the devil you know like oh you know what i mean it's like yeah that didn't feel very good um but you've ever been so you've always felt you're misunderstood yeah for a long time you've been friendly your whole life you never killed someone by accident that's right that's right really never by accident
Starting point is 00:33:57 Has anyone Try to kill you? People tell me this all the time They're like, oh, what about hunters? What about getting hunted by big... You know, I am the danger, as Breaking Bad says. You know what I'm saying? So I'm the hunter, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:34:15 Ask about the hunter. That's what I'm saying. Yeah, be careful in these, like, you know, these racist towns, too. Yeah, but again, I feel like I'm good. I feel I've got a lot of, like, body on me. You know, if I get shot, I'm like, I'm not even... I'm not even...
Starting point is 00:34:32 I'm not even afraid of, like, death anymore. Why aren't you afraid of death? Um, just because... If that's how I go, that's how I go, you know? That's actually fucking poetic, dude. Holy shit, Sasquots, full of knowledge. Um, go back to, uh, promoting shows. How, how did you do it?
Starting point is 00:34:56 How are you doing it? I heard a girlfriend was saying like you would call like the fire departments and shit. Oh yeah. Well, you know, I love sales and stuff and I love trying to think outside the box. Yeah. We're trying to like we're trying to scale it up because I think that we have something that's really good, you know? And we're getting, we're helping so many people we're doing fundraisers for like charities and stuff. We're amazing.
Starting point is 00:35:21 You know, we're getting, we're building a team and a crew. We're employing like a visual artist and, um, and you know other people and the artists of all types on the team and so now it's time to scale it up you know what I mean scale it up and and to me the show is a lot about the audience you know when the audience is screaming so loud that you feel it in your bones doesn't that feel so good oh it's the best aren't you just like wow I feel so good and it feels good for the crowd too because they're like when I if you go to a show
Starting point is 00:35:50 you don't want the crowd to be dead no no no if you were at a show watching someone on stage you would want the crowd to be going wild yeah yeah yeah because it's awesome to be a part of that um so uh yeah i'm been on a big oasis kick right now i'm like really deep it's like my favorite thing i'm going to see oasis in september congrats thanks dude i can't wait i'm going to new york um if anyone's in town september 1st um i'll be in new york for a week uh let's hang out um but he he galliger had this saying there's like this moment where you're completely still and there's chaos all around you and that's the moment he feels more the most alive because you know
Starting point is 00:36:34 we're fucking we're energy builders and for us to like take a step back completely so completely still and see what what ripples you've made and I think that that gives me a heart on pretty crazy right I love that I love that because somebody's got to be the not the chaos but somebody's got to be the volume in a situation you know and so it's like where's it you know where's it coming from? Energy yeah where's it I mean it has come from something and it's us right yeah yeah so you
Starting point is 00:37:05 tell me so what was the most random like company you called to come to this show and they actually showed up yeah the fire department in New York City oh your girlfriend called the fire department in New York City yeah emailed emailed and I think 40 or 50 of them
Starting point is 00:37:20 showed up dude your girlfriend is a bad You got lucky, yeah. I mean, there's there a lot of Sasquatches out there, like, to pick from, or did you just, like, got lucky? You found one. I got so lucky, man. How'd you meet? We met, actually, I was at a rave. True story. I was at a rave. I was checking out a possible opener for my tour, and there was a chess board at the rave.
Starting point is 00:37:50 It was this awesome spot called The Fruit in Durham, and I went up. someone i was like hey do you want to play chess i'm waiting for the show to start and they were like well i don't play chess but let me come out go ask my friend group uh i got in touch with the friend group they were huge fans it turns out so i was like oh this is so sick and then um a couple weeks later one of them texted me and was like hey i think i got a girl that would be perfect for you your name's thick foot and i was like let's go you know and you know we hit it off ever since you know do you have like a hygiene do you shower yeah yeah i uh make sure how do you get into a shower i mean you're fucking i know man it don't even don't even it's it's a lot to what's how's how's porn do you watch
Starting point is 00:38:33 um you know i've been in i don't know if you've like beat off to like uh just human porn or like what do you do like how do you get how do you get your rocks off on my road i just like to use my imagination man that's sick that's the way to do it you know i got to start doing that I remember the old days just close your eyes and just fucking jerk one out just imagine whatever yeah just imagine whatever oh man what a fucking life um so what are what's what's next like what do you like when you're picturing your vision board for the next year five years what what's on it oh that's a great question wow um uh well you know i've never played jam crews that would be sick oh let's i'll get you on that um um Yeah, and what else? Annabelle, you listen to this podcast. Get Sackwatch on the fucking Jam Cruise. Come on.
Starting point is 00:39:25 Yeah. Yeah. No, I love Annabelle. Yeah. Yeah. So I'd love to do that. Red Rocks. I really want to play Red.
Starting point is 00:39:33 We sold out Cervantes' Ballroom. Really? Yeah. That was in Cap. Isn't Scott great? Yeah. Yeah. It was so awesome.
Starting point is 00:39:42 So I'm hoping that somebody will be like, you'll come open for us at Red Rocks. That would be sick. The gorge. These are all squatchy places. You know, Yeah, what's your dream venue for this show to happen at? I mean, I've never been to the gorge in my life, so I don't know.
Starting point is 00:39:56 Dude, that's like you. That is, you ridden all over it. It's so big, though. Wow. Maybe Dave will, Dave Matthews will put you up on a gorse show. Yeah, well, I'm like in the electronics scene. Would you join a band? What if Dave Matthews said, Sasquatch, I really like what you're putting down here.
Starting point is 00:40:14 Would you like to join Dave Matthews band? Would you do it? Probably not. Why not? But, well, Jeff Coffin, first of all, saxophone player is incredible. I saw a saxophone. Eh, fuck that guy.
Starting point is 00:40:27 I saw, no. Jeff Coffin, if you're listening, I saw your saxophone in the, in the rock and roll history museum the other day in Cleveland. Really? Did you go? Yeah, yeah, I was sick. Did they, like, they parade you around?
Starting point is 00:40:39 Yeah, they got us in and everything. It was awesome. But I love doing my own thing, man. I love making my own music. I know, I hear you. You know? And then to. to be in the pet of your whole fucking life why would you join something well yeah well i would i would
Starting point is 00:40:55 love to be a part of anything but i won't be i wouldn't be able to dedicate my whole uh creative energy towards something else right well just because i think that i would do a better job of my goal of helping people to do it right myself you know because i've kind of had this vision or whatever for a while wow you know i wouldn't want to give up on it but you know what i'm saying man i hear you man what's your dream like what's the ultimate dream like what is your ultimate dream do you want a grammy do you want just peace and harmony in the valley or what's your ultimate dreams sask box you ready i'm ready i'm fucking living it dog me too brother me fucking too big daddy yeah you are what more could you want like just riding in a minivan with your girlfriend
Starting point is 00:41:45 just fucking show to show yeah yeah yeah Even if we had all the money, fame, whatever in the world, how much different would you honestly want things to be? That's true. It's a bigger house, like, oh, now you have to walk more. Yeah. You know, more money, now you've got to account for more. You know, you've got to be more taxing. You know, it's just like more money, no problem kind of thing.
Starting point is 00:42:10 You know, and you know that song on TikTok that's like, I think I like this little life. Yeah, I love that. Oh, it's so cute. I think about that, too, I'm like, how, what is, what is the deal with me? You know, like, I have this big house and, you know, I'm not trying to brag. I, but I only, I sleep in the living room on the couch still. I don't go upstairs to my beautiful bedroom, you know, I do not do that. Every time I'm home, I'm more comfortable on the couch.
Starting point is 00:42:43 I should just get a fucking one bedroom and fucking call it a day, you know? not this fucking exotic man cave i have right now it's like what what is that we don't need that much things it's i think uh how much you have in your backpack is how um how free you're going to be if you don't have a lot in your backpack you're not going to be free or if you don't have a lot in the backpack you are going to be free if you have all these things holding you down um i think you're going to be more inclined to just stay in one place and i don't know about you but I've never wanted to just stay in one place. I want to keep evolving.
Starting point is 00:43:21 Yeah, that's so true. And imagine this. I think this is also the dream. Equal rights, national forces, everywhere. I know. What the fuck. Parks. How are you feeling about Trump
Starting point is 00:43:34 or just fucking trying to kill all these saskwatches? Man, you know, I never get political, but you can tell what political side I'm on, can't you? Yeah, I hear your brother. Yeah. Yeah, just by saying that. Yeah, you can tell me, because I think the dream is for people that just come together, you know? But you know what I will say is that I have a lot of friends who are on the other opposite political spectrum, and I asked them, I was like, you know, what is it?
Starting point is 00:44:03 Like, why, you know? And they just get different information, you know? They're still, they're still good people. They're just getting fed completely different information. I know. Are you a, are you, Sasquatch family, read the news and watch the news and stuff? Yeah, as much as, as much as you have to, you know, um, because it's all, it's all a game. Yeah, it's all about money.
Starting point is 00:44:26 We were talking about this. I know. Everything is about money at the end of the day when you're getting to the business side of anything. Bullshit. It's all about money. It's bullshit. And, and, and you start to see right through it. You're like, oh, they're just making money on this.
Starting point is 00:44:38 Right. Or like, like, you know, on any side, it's like. just a money game i know it's bullshit yeah what are we gonna do oh we're gonna make music bro we're gonna fucking keep slaying i know it's crazy i mean i i think about this all the time do you have to play soon you we're almost what time is it it's uh six 45 yeah it depends there's like a thunderstorm right yeah we're good we're good i think they're delaying the show yeah we got like five more minutes all right cool um this has been a pleasure in uh getting to know you i mean we're i would love to tour with you more if you're down yeah man i think it's a good
Starting point is 00:45:11 combo i think it's a great combo i was that's what i was like i've been wanting thanks are reaching out you've reached out to me say hey man you want to do these shows i'm like fuck yeah and that but that was a long time ago and then i came back and hit you up about these shows yeah and i'm glad we reconnected it's been nice me too thanks for a good man thanks for believing in me i really like your girlfriend i think you two are i really like her a lot that picture of her um with her ass out and and the big feet is so fucking amazing and it's so she's funny dude she's hilarious she's hilarious she's gonna love this um a couple things um yeah when you have sex back to sex because i'm very i'm very curious i have no libido these days so i'm just envious of people just having like
Starting point is 00:45:57 animal sex right now yeah when you moan do you moan like a human or like a oh what do you do how does it how does it come out it just needs to be enthusiastic i think have you ever just howled at the moon do you howl i mean is that part of your instinct to howl can i tell you one time yeah we were you know banging and stuff but it was in olympic national park oh my god it was um you know true story and there was this uh like i don't know some kind of class of scientists in the park yeah and maybe 20 30 people And it was night time.
Starting point is 00:46:40 We were in the woods. And as soon as we got done, they all started clapping. No way. That's a true story, true story. Oh, my God. I had that same situation. I was in Boca Raton, Florida. And it was like 5 a.m.
Starting point is 00:47:00 And we were kind of fucked up. And we're like, let's go to the beach. We had my dumb ass didn't, where we got. You know, like there's all these entrances to beach. I just like what because we were kind of drunk and we just walked we just did the entrance and then we didn't like go to the left or go to the right so we were on the beaten path to the beach and we were just having sex I'm just like kind of missionary and my asses out and all sudden like it was kind of dark but the sun was starting to come out and all of sudden the sun
Starting point is 00:47:29 starts coming out I realize there's people everywhere with their dogs dancing I'm like they're probably like get the fuck away what is going on in my Boker in town billion dollar fucking community and I'm howling and stuff it was it felt free though I never I've always been afraid to have sex in public I'm not like a public
Starting point is 00:47:47 sexer yeah you know it kind of fell free to just like have sex in the fucking on a beach or just not care how hard is it for you to not care um it's it's it's tough but it depends on like how good it is
Starting point is 00:48:04 you know or just in general oh it's sex yeah Let's go I mean he said it all I mean I feel like We learned a little bit about The life that is Sasquot's before
Starting point is 00:48:19 I mean didn't know you had a drug addiction It's pretty crazy And I'm glad you got through that And I know that's serious I know that's real I can hear it in your voice And now you took that chaos You turn into harmony
Starting point is 00:48:31 Now you're selling out shows all around the country My last question to you is When it's all said and done What do you want to be remembered by? That's a good question I want to be remembered by Bringing people together Yeah
