Starting point is 00:00:00 The way that I formed that question, I don't want you to think that I was, it was accusatory towards you and Aisha that you were brewing some kind of plan. Is Jamie the worst person who's ever managed you in your whole life? joining us on the blower from parts unknown uh it is the young lady with the strange name the lover of vans it is bertini thank you for joining us. Thank you for having me. I'm really excited. You guys have good energy. Oh, okay. Sorry. Should we talk about it?
Starting point is 00:00:51 No. Do you think we should talk about it? I think you have to address what I have to say. Did I just bring up something? No, no, no, no. No, a fan fell on the fucking ground like we just had a 7.3 earthquake. I think we need to talk about it. Because otherwise people think Pat is dying. Yeah, I'm fine with them thinking i'm dying no no need to explain away
Starting point is 00:01:09 it's hot in here just as long as we do not confront pat about how fucking hot it is in here but anyways we have to talk to brittany this is the most the most important part of paramount importance as brittany is here uh we have a lot of really good questions for you, I think. I didn't sift through any of them, but we always start with the most boring question imaginable. Pat, take it away. I don't think it's boring at all, Dylan. I completely disagree with you, and I think a good portion of the audience disagrees with you. Bertini, how the hell did you end up on this show? Oh, cute. Honestly, i think i was the only one on the whole cast i could be wrong but from my knowing i was the only one that actually reached out to producers and to like blow deck
Starting point is 00:01:54 and i actually applied to be on it a lot of the people get scouted um so for me it was like a full fuck yes body decision of like i want to be on blow jack you're a walk-on uh-huh i was like a full fuck yes body decision of like, I want to be on blowjack. You're a walkout. Uh-huh. I was like, I'm going to make this happen. And I'm. Oh, God. Oh, no. She's frozen.
Starting point is 00:02:15 She's frozen. All right. We're back. Some technical difficulties. Dylan and I are going to fist fight in the parking lot after this. But we will have gotten pulled off an interview. I don't think there's anything you could have done, Pat. He could have set the air conditioning up right, given that I went
Starting point is 00:02:29 online, paid for it, and sent it to the location that was convenient for him, but... Nick, when you walked in, he could not find the time to set up the air conditioner properly, you idiot. How often have you heard the song Teeny Weeny Yellow Pol polka dot bikini?
Starting point is 00:02:47 I've never heard that until now. So you should put it in the you should put it in the arsenal. It's a real song and your name rhymes with it. So we have a ton of fan questions to get to Pat, take it away. Okay, okay. Well, I guess, you know, number one question is did you ever uh do you ever go back to school to get an education to be a captain um not now no not no no not now no gotcha because uh what i guess the best part of the uh the final episode was when hot captain Jason comes over at that table, backhands Jamie and Culver with, well, I don't even think it was a backhanded compliment.
Starting point is 00:03:32 It was basically just a slight said, I don't know what your future is, but definitely Bertini has a future in, in this industry. I know that was the very, like, I didn't know, like, as you could see,
Starting point is 00:03:42 I was like, Terry, I, cause it was like, so unannounced, like there was like no buildup to it. He just said it. I was like, oh my god. Him and I had a really, really good friendship. He, throughout the season, taught me a lot. A very mentor. that whole season like i started with less skills than most of the guys and then i ended with like being one of the one of the best on the boat and bertini how hot is he in real life i mean what's it like being around all that musk um it's definitely encouraging um to say the least so yeah he is that attractive it's not fake have you did you
Starting point is 00:04:28 see the captain and like this is just a quick like who would you rather did you see the captain that filled in for captain lee on one episode of regular below deck yeah he looks like a troll he looks like that he looks like the logo from mad, like, just in a vacuum, Captain Jason or that guy. Well, just from that quick description, I think everyone's answer is going to be the same. The MADtv guy. Yeah, of course. You know, the fun part about...
Starting point is 00:04:57 The MADtv description alone. The fun part of Hot Captain Jason, other than the other captains that we have on this franchise, is that he's kind of flirty. He throws it out there. Um, is that, uh,
Starting point is 00:05:07 did, did you ever feel like a gaze in his eyes that he was actually thrown out there? Like after this is done, this could happen. What a great question. Personally for me, like I just never allowed that thought to go because like,
Starting point is 00:05:21 I still call him captain. Like I really don't call him Jason. Um, I just always had that like firm line so for me no um okay so let's talk about bitch gate um i love that you call it that i call it just bitch yeah he just calls it bitch um so how long of a Um, so how long of a history did we have here? It was a hell of a narrative. I think what did it take place over? There's a bit of a time warp watching below deck. I think you guys work for what?
Starting point is 00:05:56 10 days and then they stretch it out to 17 episodes somehow. But how many days was this, uh, kind of stewing? Nice. Um, it honestly really kind of stewing? Nice. It honestly really wasn't stewing. It was just one night. When I called him a bitch, it was like, I didn't even remember because it's so nonchalant. And that's just such a normal word for me that I didn't take it as seriously as I now see it as. Sure.
Starting point is 00:06:24 I didn't think it was like a huge trigger point um so that happened and then i guess it happened to asia separately and so her and i just found out that to get in the van um and so that's when we discussed it it wasn't really ruminating so when her and i like found out in the van together that we both had that like occurrence with him or like what like it's just such a bizarre thing for us so i'm looking forward to hopefully we can talk with jamie and and kind of understand who he is and peel back the layers but i i do believe i don't have a degree in uh psychotherapy but i do believe he hates women yeah and that you know the way that i formed that question i don't want you to think that it was accusatory towards you and Aisha that you were brewing some kind of plan.
Starting point is 00:07:08 Is Jamie the worst person who's ever managed you in your whole life? My whole life? I'm going to say no. Oh, wow. He's on Mount Rushmore, though, probably, right? Yeah, he definitely had his weaknesses in leading. I think this was his first go at leading, I think. Tell me if I'm wrong.
Starting point is 00:07:40 Well, no. Yeah, it was his first bosun position. Right. He's led in different ways by his first actual Boson title. Yeah. Cut him a little slack. The first outing, you learn how to manage by on the job. I had this manager at Sports Authority named Melinda who'd give him a run for his money in bad management.
Starting point is 00:08:00 Yeah. That's honestly neither here nor there. And I worked for a coke addicted pedophile, so. But was he mean and condescending? Yeah, he wasn't a good guy to me. Oh, okay. He asked me to get in a jacuzzi one night. That was weird.
Starting point is 00:08:15 Hey, I got some listener questions. Yeah, let's get to them. Okay. Jan asks, how scary- I didn't get in the jacuzzi. Oh. Yeah, that's why you don't work there anymore either. Yeah, I wasn't committed to the job.
Starting point is 00:08:27 Right. Yeah. No, I had a Bubby pickle and I went to sleep. Listener question. Yeah. All right, so Jan asks, how scary was that chain locker? You know, I personally didn't find it terrifying, but I could see how it would be it's a crazy like little box that you're in with like a thousand ton chain that you're moving so like when if you got really in your
Starting point is 00:08:54 mind about what's happening it could be scary however that didn't happen to me so i just saw it as like a really annoying workout uh I have a question about hashtag van life. Are you living it in Nashville? I'm in Austin, Texas. God damn it, Pat. Blame Pat. I listened. I heard Austin.
Starting point is 00:09:18 It's hot. I screw those two cities up. Same kind of people, I think. Same vibe. Are you living hashtag van life in austin absolutely not you would literally die um however i have lived hashtag van life um in new zealand and i've like lived in my car many a times just like same we're gonna get we're gonna tease we're gonna get to see if her and culver and where that went with some questions oh gotcha i didn't i didn't read the listener question that's okay real quick question though uh the unavoidable
Starting point is 00:09:50 death doing van life in austin why is that hot because of the heat yeah it's like literally 105 degrees every day it's okay it's not because of the zombies oh yeah no not got it got it okay uh same uh uh listener asked uh she wanted to know uh between the chefs who cooked better i think i probably know who might have been the better chef was it nate who we'll get to you making out with him later uh or are we call them pizza rat but uh chef ryan you just spoiled it for me is that in the finale i haven't watched the finale? I haven't watched the finale. Yeah, I haven't watched the finale either. You may go with Nate. Aren't we going to do a podcast about it tonight?
Starting point is 00:10:30 No, on Monday. You got to read the schedule. Yeah, we said the schedule so many times. But yeah, we have a lot of different names for Pizza Rat, Shit Face, Boy Who Lost His Father on September 11, 2009. The guy from Langoliers. The guy from Langoliers, Craig Toomey. So yeah, who's a better chef?
Starting point is 00:10:49 Oh my God, those are some interesting names. Bertini, did you find it odd when Chef Ryan would... Oh, sorry. Are you insane? Who's a better chef? Yeah, no, Nate's definitely a better shop because we were fed right that is that is uh i love corroboration because we of course had benny on he said ryan's tried to starve you guys ryan commented on our um our instagram another below decks podcast
Starting point is 00:11:22 underscore the the central place for c-Rat fights, he commented that closed mouths don't get fed, which I think they usually do if you're a chef. Now, the implication was that you guys did not say anything or voice any frustration or complaint about not being fed, which coming from the mouth of Craig Toomey of the Langoliers sounds like it's a bit of a fucking lie. But can you talk to us about how the season went? Not being fed? Were you guys voicing it?
Starting point is 00:11:55 What was going on? Yeah. You know, the chef position is a difficult one to like bring up because like if I as a deckhand have something that I'm annoyed about with the chef it's almost like just because I'm the deckhand there's not much room for me to voice that it's really the captain's the only higher up than for someone to like say anything that he'd actually like listen to um it got to the point where we literally had to get protein bars and we ate like three protein bars each a day. We were just eating like tuna fish salad.
Starting point is 00:12:35 It's astounding the position of power you can be in just based off a couple years of flipping pizzas. You know? Yeah. You establish such a place in the hierarchy out on the sea that no one can even say anything to you just because you've baked a couple pies well dylan has he lost his father on 9 11 yeah 2009 so you know obviously still you know look what it did to pete david know? Yeah. So anyway. All right.
Starting point is 00:13:05 And all of us have strained relationships with our fathers, so we can throw stones in glass houses. Mine's dead. Ask me when he died. When he died. I think 2013. Anyway. All right. All right.
Starting point is 00:13:19 Bertini, multiple listeners. But Bertini asked how he died. Oh, I think a heart attack or something. Big, big fat guy yeah yeah yeah he didn't eat right uh so uh sarah's multiple listeners asked this question which i think i think it's wildly inappropriate but sarah uh stripling asked um did brit brittany finally get laid after she left the boat lol lol and again that was the listener not pat yeah no great question um i would love to talk about that because that's actually so good um this is the thing when you work on a boat
Starting point is 00:13:59 as a female deckhand is that being a female deckhand there and i wrote this on my instagram is that there's not a lot of room to be in your feminine you're very much kind of like conditioned to just be very in your masculine and so that feminine like flirtatious energy is very much told isn't appropriate and you know you can't just like masturbate or self-pleasure yourself which which this is this is probably why you kept exposing yourself in the van rides oh my god well i did that just out of shit because i knew that they couldn't show my boobs i was like i'm just gonna show them all the time well also that they can't show them so i bet the editors had a good time but yeah like i just like wasn't able to
Starting point is 00:14:45 use the feminine energy in that way so like in that time i was just like there was like nowhere to like put it not even like flirtatiously because i got like in trouble for doing that so yeah i just got to a point where i was like all right well embrace the animus well this is why those nights out when they have you know six hours before a new charter starts they're out getting wasted till three in the morning it's like shaking a champagne bottle and it explodes they're just it all goes crazy for six hours because they're just they've been all bottled up tension and release that's what the producer the adam carolla show told me makes a good song and also a good season of below deck nice yeah that's it's a great
Starting point is 00:15:23 technique that they do so i don't want to be insulting but i do want to just talk to you briefly about your name um what's up with that yeah my well my mom honestly told me that martinis were really popular in the 90s like sex in the city came out and that's when like green apple martinis all this came out so city came out and that's when like green apple martinis and all this came out so she wanted something funky and my dad wanted britney and so my mom came up with the spelling of britini got it and that's where that is i honestly was called britney until like until i was in high school because my mom got really annoyed of correcting little children. And I was younger. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:06 So I was the one that chose to fully like step into my name. Good for you. And what cowardice of your mother, she was the one that made that bed for you and you had to lie. She just gave up. She, she fucking tucked and rolled out of the car. Really good job.
Starting point is 00:16:22 Other than that. And, and just FYI, quick errors and omissions, the song title is actually Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Poco Dot Bikini. Oh, yeah. No, I know that song, but I've never had someone sing my name in it. Oh. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:42 Well, that's how you do the play on words. Yeah. I thought she hadn't even heard the song, which would be pretty illuminating. Next question, listener question. Christina, Karma, Lena. I think this is going well. She's having a good time. I don't know if Below Deck fans are going to get a lot of it. No, I think this is really going well.
Starting point is 00:16:56 Did you notice Magna was always on her phone? That was honestly something I didn't realize. In the show, if you don't see me, I didn't know I existed until I'm watching it. So every time she's on her phone is, of course, when she's working. And so I'm out on deck. So I honestly had no idea that it was to that point. However, I did know that she was the one using the most data.
Starting point is 00:17:18 Like that was true and accurate. But I just didn't put the two and two together. I think they gave us the number. but I just didn't put the two and two together. I think they gave us the number. She was using 5,000 times more gigabytes than any other person on that boat. 5,500, yeah. Yeah, I honestly don't even know how that's possible
Starting point is 00:17:34 when you're working that hard. Well, she wasn't working that hard. She had a 6K camera she was FaceTiming with. Kayla Benson Laird wants to know, how terrible was it seeing that brother and sister team in the hot tub? Oh, yeah. On the phone with their father. I was kind of confused.
Starting point is 00:17:51 My brother and I are really close in age as well. And I was just reflecting on my and his relationship. And even though I'm flashing my tits in the van and I'm very carefree and free-spirited, my brother doesn't even go on my Instagram. So know, so he doesn't even want to see it. Sure. I was just like kind of like baffled. Wow.
Starting point is 00:18:11 They seemed pretty damn comfortable with it. Like it's just something that. And what was the deal exactly with her drinking specifically? Like did she come on the boat saying she was never gonna have another drink or i don't know it almost made me a little uncomfortable how quickly she fell off the wagon and then started making horrible decisions and ruining your little boat man's yeah um yeah i mean i i've definitely been there where i was like oh i'm not gonna drink and then you're like oh i'm gonna drink so i think it was really just that and um it's just unfortunate that like she put in her preference so that everyone was very
Starting point is 00:18:49 well rehearsed like okay don't get the primary alcohol and then she kind of flipped it on us and yeah yeah she's she just kept it fun it's it's it's a it's a tough spot to be and i agree we've all been there but we just haven't like declared it on national television right yeah yeah that's definitely a bold mood karen vf asks how did you feel about being hugged by hot captain jason was it everything that we all dream about literally i've gotten that question so many times um because i guess i've been hugged by him a lot um yeah no it's it's very like nurturing you know he he's a father so and he's also very in tune with energy like him and i talk about it so like the first time when i was crying because like the tip situation like i didn't say anything to him he just knew that i was like off and which is such a powerful leader to like go to that person
Starting point is 00:19:44 when they're not in their like brightest um and so yeah it's super nurturing and really well attuned did you ever get any insight on that tip thing because that was like one of the most psychotic i've never i would never single someone out and you didn't even interact with that person so like did you ever hear back was it in my eyes it was maybe a mistake they didn't count it up right but was there a reason that you heard actually mistake because they like gave each person they wanted an envelope um jim and i both didn't get tips and no i never heard from them they aren't those type of people that's just their their personalities i. They're just not really super wholesome.
Starting point is 00:20:27 Jason Dunn asks, have you ever hooked up with a charter guest? Yes. Nice. You're the first one to admit that. Not on charter though. Off charter when it was all done. How's that dance work? You just, you know,
Starting point is 00:20:42 get their number and let them know. See, I always think it's so hot i i couldn't work on one of these boats and be a sea rat because i'd be having sex with everybody take it easy i think we've i think we've been warped by the tell although i'm sure it's like that also but yeah i uh so it's only happened once it's really rare honestly to have a charter guest that's like one my age and too attractive. Right. And three that I'm into. Like, you know, there's a lot of barriers to go through.
Starting point is 00:21:08 Sure. So I think we'd be remiss if we didn't check in on her and Culver. That's what we're going to do. Okay. So Caroline Kiggins asked, did you and Culver ever make that van thing happen? And have you talked after the show aired? Okay. So the van thing, you have you talked after the show aired okay so the van thing you know i don't know of like if we do a reunion like let's i'm gonna let it i'm gonna let it wait there
Starting point is 00:21:34 okay okay well i'll ask you this um elizabeth young did you ever speak with jamie after filming um actually yeah so after filming we all kept in touch and then the day it premiered a few months ago we like i called everyone it was super celebratory like it was such a great time we ended the season on a super high no like all of us and i he has a podcast he asked me to be on it we talked on the podcast he's called me a few times and so yeah we've been in a really good friendship and then when how you call it the bitch gate episode came out is really when the flip switch and since then there's been no contact um he unfollowed me got it because that was your fault about me so i'm just like all right well i'm just gonna let
Starting point is 00:22:24 him sit in his own corner. He threw some shade at Benny, too, on that stupid podcast. He has a podcast? Wake Up With Jamie. Wake Up With Jamie. All right. Well, baby barnacles, you know what to do. Head on over to that.
Starting point is 00:22:35 No, don't do a brigade. Just say you know what to do. Well, I just wanted to get a little bit more specific. We don't want a brigade. It's a... It's not a brigade. I'm not saying leave one stars. I'm saying leave five stars and say, you know what're doing stop it now oh yeah that's that's good
Starting point is 00:22:50 that's good god uh what a better way or what better way to prove you're not a bitch than to ghost people when you hear them saying bad words about you all right so we're wrapping it up with just a couple more questions aaron thomas wants to know would you ever come back for another season yeah i mean i will never say never it's definitely like i'm gonna choose like i will have to sit with myself and see where i'm at in my own personal life to see if it's in my highest alignment you know i love some of your introspection one line that stuck out to me from the season and i've repeated it to people like it was my own advice is like why is jamie lashing out of people and getting so angry he was called a bitch he should be looking inward and finding out why that makes him so upset and no question but great line and yeah he was not operating at his highest yeah thank you it's it's inner work and it's um it's
Starting point is 00:23:43 an amazing like really at the end of the day, triggers are just an invitation for you to look inward and be like, oh, okay, why did that bother me? You know, it's a great invitation to go more into yourself. I off-site the book by former, well, you're never a former Navy SEAL unless you get, by Navy SEAL, Jocko Willink, extreme ownership. And it's essentially the same thing. Oh, I thought you were going to say the way of the warrior. I love that. David Lode asks, and we're wrapping it up here, who is your favorite co-worker on the boat? Toomey.
Starting point is 00:24:15 Oh, my God. They didn't really, Toomey and I were like best friends. You know, every morning I would roll off the top bunk and roll on top of her in the bottom bunk and say, good morning. So her and I had, and still we talk all the time. We had a really good connection that we've carried on throughout. These boats have quite the chasm of personalities and character. I think I'd get probably in a physical altercation with Pizza Rat, spending 10 minutes with him. But with you guys, I think I could, I don't know, I could move in a house with you and live with you.
Starting point is 00:24:48 It's just, it's crazy all these different personalities. I guess that's what's fun about the show. Who are you still in contact with from the show? Well, me, too, and Asha have a consistent communication together, and that's been consistent since we ended. And then Benny and I, for sure, he's so fucking funny. And then actually, I just talked to Culver today, we chat on the phone for an hour. So that was really good to hear from him. So I'd say those and like, I, you know,
Starting point is 00:25:18 checked in with Magda. I basically talked to everyone. There's just a few that I don't feel need to have my time. Brittany, who was the hottest guy in the boat? We did an interview with Benny last week. I thought I was talking to Brandon Lee, the one who's still alive. Really good-looking guy. It seemed like no girls were after him on the boat, but when you meet him in person...
Starting point is 00:25:38 Okay, I will have to say, when the season ended and everyone just kind of got into their normal clothes and every single day we were just ourselves and we weren't like under like pressure or like working and like always being on benny definitely has the swags in him oh yeah like almost couldn't come out working you know like he has a very relaxed like island vibe which as you can see the first few episodes wasn't really welcomed. And so when he was able to fully be himself, I was like, okay, Benny, I see you.
Starting point is 00:26:11 So yeah, for sure, he has something to him. Mary F. Kill. Jamie, Hot Captain Jason, and Benny. Don't put Jamie in there. She's going to kill Jamie. Jason, for sure. She just played half.
Starting point is 00:26:28 I wanted to say about Benny, I saw that. I felt like there was one scene where he was like, oh, I can't wait for the new stew to come on. I hope she's good looking. And it seemed like you and Toomey laughed in his face. But he sounds like quite the coxswain who's getting laid in weird orgies at yoga camps.
Starting point is 00:26:43 The man's doing well for himself. He has some good stories, for sure. Bertini, thank you so much for spending a little bit of time with us. We appreciate your candor. And everybody, get ready for Bravo. It is swimming away from Peacock
Starting point is 00:27:00 and hitting the airwaves on Bravo. Real time, real life, baby. Subscribe to the podcast. What, uh, subscribe to the podcast. Tell your friends, tell your family, uh, join us on patrion.com slash another podcast network.
Starting point is 00:27:11 And Bertini, do you have anything to plug before we head out? And a couple of last words from Pat and Nick. Sure. Sure. Um, just follow me on Bertini burn on Instagram. I'm also a sensual empowerment coach for women. So that's what I
Starting point is 00:27:26 have. That's my business I've created for myself. And I love supporting women on their sensual journey. So definitely check me out. You and Benny should combine and do sensual S&P 500 training. Oh my god. That would be a really beautiful
Starting point is 00:27:42 experiment. You gotta be niche. Bertini, you are a joy watching on the show. I hope you do another season or have success in whatever endeavor you head on. Thank you guys so much. It was so fun. Thanks a lot, Bertini. Bye, Bertini. Bye.
Starting point is 00:27:56 Bye. Thank you.
