Starting point is 00:00:00 Were you concerned that she may be sociopathic given her remorseless pursuit of Ross in the face of your commitment to one another? Come on, baby. He was hitting on me. Yeah. joining us from parts unknown although it's clearwater florida it's not unknown is the great katie from season 10 below deck what is up hello guys how are you doing today well well kind of not because it's... No one cares about people complaining about the weather, Dylan. Imagine you live in Wisconsin or some horrible place like that,
Starting point is 00:00:51 and we're complaining about a little rain out here, man. Well, another thing with the rain is that people say, oh, it's like people... I'm not going to talk about the rain anymore, but I am very cold. So joining us today is Katie. We have been watching you throughout this season. You've been kind of a bright spot in that you have not feuded with people. You're very good at your job and you've been having to bat away and welcome
Starting point is 00:01:21 the advances of one sex crazed Ross. But before we get into any of that, we have a very boring question to start things off. Well, it's not me asking this time, Dylan. So how dare you? Serena Jenkins wants to know, how'd you get on the show? You know, I think through my social media, I have been freelancing on different boats
Starting point is 00:01:41 here in South Florida, Bahamas. So I think just my social media presence got the people kind of looking at me and you see it from afar and you're like, that would be so cool to be on that big of a boat, that big of an opportunity. So yeah, they found me through my social media presence. Got it. How many years have you been in the industry? Now going on five years. So, okay. Do you like it or do you need to stop doing it for your mental health? I love it. Um, you know, I'm my, you know, my world down here in South Florida is very
Starting point is 00:02:16 different. It's, you know, the hundred to like the 130 footers. So it's a big, you know, it's a really a difference than 200 footers that go off for six months at a time yeah um freelance so i jump from boat to boat to boat different deal with different charter guests different uh owners so you know it keeps your mind kind of you know it keeps more fun aspect instead of just you know the same people um you know for six a year at a time right now have you developed a contempt for the wealthy yet? You know, the wealthy, it's very interesting. You know, the more wealth people have, the more games they play and the more, you know, this industry is very interesting. You know,
Starting point is 00:02:57 like you see it every day with these yacht owners, you know, they think they can kind of get away with everything. So you definitely have to keep your mind kind of like, you know, think it can kind of get away with everything so you definitely have to keep your mind kind of like you know what it is you want to do and kind of that direction because it's very easy to kind of you know be shifted because of money or you meet someone and you know well there's no hr on these effing boats right there's no hr because you know hr would go yeah you'd be screwed if there's hr in this industry for sure if you don't mind me jumping into a couple listener questions dylan uh speaking of the well is that a question or oh it's a gooey okay uh christina because i don't mind but i feel like you didn't ask the question oh here's the question you're just moving on okay okay uh laquisha uh fan favorite obviously yeah uh did she request anything over the top from the exterior? Because she was acting a little rude with the interior.
Starting point is 00:03:47 Anything for you guys? No, I don't think she really was. If they're not huge, huge, huge into the water sports, we see them, then they go back, and mostly the interior deals with them. So I really didn't have an issue with her. I think she's fun in her own personality, but I think the interior definitely got the brunt of her demands her demand now you guys took out the banana boat a very dangerous vessel
Starting point is 00:04:09 i've been concussed on that a time or two um do you know any um evil patternings dragging tubes around and whatnot like do you drive the tender and slam people into the water at 50 miles an hour um well i have driven i didn't drive the tender um for our season but in the past i have driven several tenders uh growing up my family was into the lake sports yeah so tubing my dad would have 30 second rule and he would go as fast as you can and get everyone off in 30 seconds yeah yeah you know that you know tubing i think super fun banana i think you're doomed to begin with because one person follows the whole thing sipping over yeah yeah exactly it's a real collective effort so have you ever been concussed while tubing i definitely have um our tube when i was younger used to fly yeah so you know you
Starting point is 00:05:00 would drop from really high in the air so yeah yeah, keeping it up is not the funnest thing. Yeah, I know. It's a lot of fun until you can't see the reality the way that it's supposed to be seen. Anyways, Pat, go ahead. Sure. Holly Whittle wants to know, now that a lot of cast members, I'd call you,
Starting point is 00:05:18 not workers on the boat. Well, we call them sea rats. Well, you become, what do you call it when Instagram verifies you and all that, and you start getting a lot of DMs and opportunities. Do you plan on continuing on in the yachting industry after being on the show? I definitely continue to, you know, move forward. I continue to freelance as a first mate on different vessels. I am now getting into the brokering side of things and I still manage yachts so i definitely am full
Starting point is 00:05:45 force and staying in the yachting world and just you know i think the world this world you can do a lot with um and so you know when you're kind of kind of sick of one jump to the other but kind of keep them all interchangeable so i definitely am going to stay in the yachting world for right now got it cool now um i i shouldn't say this but are you gonna bring up ross no i was just gonna say that katie's background is just so boring it's just it's just this eggshell white wall i mean it's just horrendously boring it's like a matisse painting look how beautiful she looks in front of it i the I'm distracted by the blandness of the wall. Anyways, let's talk about Ross.
Starting point is 00:06:27 So you and Ross were an item. Yes, a boat romance, I would say. That is as far as you would put that. Would you say that you and Ross found love in a hopeless place? Would you say that you and Ross found love in a hopeless place? I think we found love on a 200-foot boat for the whole season. We had our fun moments. But that's kind of where it died out once we left.
Starting point is 00:07:02 We both knew that we weren't going to be an item after the show, so we're going to have fun with it you know move on to our separate lives after this might be one of the uh things with a sex addict is they're able to separate their desire to have sex and feelings and we weren't calling you no no i think we know and uh i think that's one thing that i hope our dear friend ross works out in therapy is you know, you may not have those feelings, but when you're hooking up with somebody else, they may develop feelings. And I think that was kind of the story that you guys had was this was more of a hookup for him. And he wouldn't just say that. And for you, I don't know if he was playing mind games. Was he telling you things that we didn't see that would lure you back into him other than his charm and you guys making out in the back of a tender? Yeah, I mean, definitely he would say stuff and he, you know, he, we would talk, you know, on different parts of the bow and he, you know, he'd be like, I'm in this, I want this to work out, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. You know, I think Ross was again, very confused. He wants to be able to play the games and have fun. But then, you know, at the end, like he says, he wants something serious. And I think he is in something serious now.
Starting point is 00:08:11 So you don't I don't know. I think it's it's it's interesting with him because he definitely, you know, plays the line of wants to flirt with everybody, but then wants kind of something serious, but doesn't know really how to draw that line. So he's kind of confused and, you know, hopefully he figures it out. How did it feel to be graded on your sexual performance with a British accent that was slightly robotic and concerning? I mean, I just thought it was really funny because I just kind of ignored it.
Starting point is 00:08:38 I was like, all right, I'm going to bed. Like, see ya, good night. Well, Holly Whittle asks, I guess we can return the favor. How do you rate Ross in the sack or the shower? Great question. Great question. I mean, you know, we're both intoxicated. It's, you know, in the shower.
Starting point is 00:08:53 I don't, you know, I think it's a fun moment, but I wouldn't say, you know, it was like such a magical moment. Got it, yeah. So I want to ask you about Alyssa. Because from our vantage, and we're men, but I think that we still can understand girl code to a certain degree. Were you concerned that she may be sociopathic
Starting point is 00:09:20 given her remorseless pursuit of Ross in the face of your commitment to one another? Come on, baby. He was hitting on me. Yeah. Yeah. Cause it grossed us out. It yucked us out. And I think most of America as well. You know, I think, I think again, when you have alcohol in you, I think it's easier to be that flirty personality because to me, she was a worker you know she did you know she did do her job but i just think yeah she i think she wanted what she wanted and she was going to go after it and you know i think she a little bit played into like oh you know i don't think katie and him are serious but i think she definitely knew what she was doing so did it did you hate her for
Starting point is 00:10:02 it all right so let's move on but we do, let's take a quick break for a lovely word from our sponsor, Rocket Money. Do you know how much your subscriptions cost? No, I don't. Yeah, and that is a... Because I'm happy to pay them, Dylan. Right. Because things that you subscribe to, you enjoy,
Starting point is 00:10:21 and you should keep subscribing generally, in general terms. Generally speaking. If we're talking about our Patreon, then absolutely. If we're talking about Noom, which you haven't used in eight months. Blinkist. Yeah, Blinkist. Like, read the book, right? Don't just Blinkist it because it's fraudulent and it's expensive.
Starting point is 00:10:41 So if you stop doing it, Rocket Money can help. Rocket Money, formerly known as Truebills, a personal finance app that finds and cancels your unwanted subscriptions, monitors your spending, and helps you lower your bills all in one place. Over 80% of people have subscriptions they completely forgot about, like that streaming service you bought to watch just that one show or that free trial that you never even use. Rocket Money will quickly and easily identify your subscriptions for you so you can stop paying for the ones you don't want simply find the subscription you don't want press cancel rocket money will cancel it for you no more long hold times with customer service
Starting point is 00:11:13 and tedious emailing back and forth rocket money makes canceling subscriptions as easy as a click of a button over three million people have used rocket money saving the average person up to $720 a year. $700? That's what my first car cost. Stop throwing your money away. Cancel unwanted subscriptions and manage your expenses the easy way by going to rocketmoney.com slash below deck. That's rocketmoney.com slash below deck, rocketmoney.com slash below deck. And honestly, it helps the show.
Starting point is 00:11:42 Go and do this because it really is, it automatically just, and it just helps you. You know, you're all over the place with all these different credit cards. You got some here, you got some here, you got a PayPal there. It's just, it's a mess. Hey, Dale, it was also free up their wallet, you know,
Starting point is 00:11:59 to get up to that $12 tier we're offering now. Yeah. You know. Into the mic, huh? Huh. I didn't hate her for it. Now, did it bug me? Because it just, like, again, it's against girl code.
Starting point is 00:12:13 I wouldn't put up with that. You know, here, if a girl did that to me, it's just, like, you know, I don't hate her, but I definitely don't appreciate, you know, how she did it. Katie, there was a scene a few episodes back where you were in the car with her in the backseat and you, oh my gosh, she was making the case. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:32 And you could clearly see, I guess, what were you thinking that moment? Because you weren't making eye contact. You were just doom scrolling. I was just like, so, and I like, I just like, why are you telling me this? Like, you know, I already know he's a flirt. I already know he's still, you know, going after you. Like, I just don't want to hear it anymore. Like, you know, me and Ross aren't going to be anything, you know, past the boat romance on the show. So it's just like, you know, just quit trying to bring it up. It's like, she constantly wants me to beef with him and, you know, so she gets her
Starting point is 00:13:00 way. And, and honestly, you know, I just, I didn't want to hear it anymore. Wow. Wow. That, so you are saying like, so there was a little bit of a 3d chess there with her. So she, you think that she wanted you guys fighting about what was going on? I think she definitely wanted us to argue. So then, you know, she, it was easier for her to flirt with Ross when, you know, on our nights out. So I think, you know, if I was upset with him and I didn't want to deal with him, you know, it was easier for her. Right. You know, it's a out. So I think, you know, if I was upset with him and I didn't want to deal with him, you know, it's easier for her, you know, to have his attention.
Starting point is 00:13:28 It's a little bit like when a Komodo dragon bites a calf of a hooved animal. Just like that. Slowly a toxin swims through them and they are easier prey. So I think you're right about that. Okay. So with that, Rob Morgan asks, Team Alyssa or Team Camille? Yeah, you have to pick a side. Yeah, you have to pick a side. That's how the world works. Definitely Team Camille.
Starting point is 00:13:50 Camille has been one of my best friends still in Fort Lauderdale, and she's a good girl. I think she just got dealt a tricky hand. She was rather brazen in the face of accusations of her being apathetic or lazy or incompetent. How was she on the exterior? Bad?
Starting point is 00:14:11 I mean, exterior, we didn't get her much because obviously, you know, Fraser needed an extra hand on the inside. It was a big boat. He needed her more in the interior. So we really only got to like deal with her a little bit, you know, here and there docking. But besides that, it wasn't, you know, she would come down and hang out with us. But like I didn't really get to judge, you know, her like really, truly in the exterior. Got it.
Starting point is 00:14:38 A couple more questions for you, Katie. Thanks for doing this. All right. So do you feel like the show portrays how hard the deck crew works i mean we always see the docking but like we always see the interior running around dropping wine glasses having to deal with the service part of it do you think the show really captures what you guys are put through working on those vessels no honestly i think that's i think that's one of the most frustrating parts um it's because you, we're working 18 hour days, we're working hard.
Starting point is 00:15:06 And I feel like it just there's so much that is left out that you don't get to see us doing. And it's just like snippets. And then it's back to the interior. Yeah. So I think that definitely was frustrating. You know, seeing it live is just honestly, you know, most of the stuff we did and like, you know, different jokes and like different things we kind of had the whole season. Like, you know, just didn't get portrayed because it was more I feel like a little bit more pinned on the interior. Yeah. Then really getting to see, you know, truly the whole day in and day out of the exterior. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:39 And you understand why that's not shown, though, right? Well, because we're probably we're a lot less drama than yeah because i would jump off a building if i had to watch a show about you guys killing it on the deck well okay all right all right a couple other uh just quick hits here all right um mary f kill ross tony ben great question and this is by brett reno you have to fuck one marry one and and murder one you can uh sub tyler in there if you want so i would fuck ross marry ben kill tony why would you kill he's annoying but he is not annoying why would you kill tony is he annoying i just have like a really i I feel like, hard work ethic.
Starting point is 00:16:26 And when people don't match up to that necessarily, it's sometimes, you know, just a little bit frustrating. And I feel like towards the end of the season, you know, he was getting frustrated. You know, this wasn't the type of gig for him. He is incredible in, you know, his side and what he did before. But, you know, these are long hours. and you can't be complaining the whole time. Otherwise, it just brings everyone down.
Starting point is 00:16:49 So he was a great person. I just don't think the big boat world was for him. He is a complainer. He's secretly the biggest complainer on that boat, really. I caught that. He annoyed me a lot. I didn't catch that. And that's so sad to hear because he has such great kind of jungle hippie type vibes to him.
Starting point is 00:17:06 He definitely does. He definitely does. He has a great personality. I just, once again, I don't think the big boat world was for him, and I think he would tell you that. Yeah. What about the big boat world is not for people like Tony? He's a more free spirit. It's just very, yeah, he's free spirit. You know, he wants to do what he wants to do, work out, you know, it's on his time. You know, this is the big boat world is very structured. I mean, you wake up, you work 18 hour days.
Starting point is 00:17:32 If you don't get a break, I'm sorry, you don't get a break. You know, there's, it's just like, you know, we're all a team and you do have to put in, you know, and you have to help different avenues, interior, galley, you know, whatever needs help. And I just think, you know, sometimes he just was a little confused of, you know, whatever needs help. And I just think sometimes he just was a little confused of that whole structure. Got it. Okay. A couple more hits here. Okay. So
Starting point is 00:17:52 whose style of leadership do you prefer, Sandy or Lee? You have to answer the question. You have to answer the question. I personally really love Captain Sandy. She was an inspiration just because she's in a male dominated position i'm in a male dominated position yeah so just seeing her being able to run the boat as a woman is super empowering and the fact that she was you know out there you know helping us like pull the jet skis pull the slide um she was in there drying dishes with me you know it just to me as a woman like you know captain sandy's definitely um very impactful for me yeah no she's around a lot now did you um were you
Starting point is 00:18:31 freaked out and weirded out and uh concerned for your safety when sandy uh had that meltdown on the beach when you guys were doing that top gun thing the uh when she came after Frazier for having a scab on his foot. She told him his head smells like a dead fish. I was just very, you know, that their problems are between them. And yeah, it definitely, you know, it was definitely shocking. So I was like, well, I didn't think that was going to happen, but you know, I'm just going to say no comment on that because the interior is the interior. And, you know, I think they definitely had some internal issues with that.
Starting point is 00:19:07 Do you guys think that you could have not gone so hard on them in the volleyball game to save the day a little bit? Because if you had won maybe 6-3, I don't think Sandy would have flipped out like that. And so I kind of do think it's your fault. Comments? I mean, you know, I really suck at volleyball. I'm surprised I even got the ball over the net. You know, for me, volleyball is not one of my strong suits.
Starting point is 00:19:31 I think we're probably pretty evenly matched, but the boys definitely carried the team on that one. That's all the questions I got. Katie, you're great. You were a delight to watch on the show. Hard worker. You also were involved in a little drama. Not because she created it. She was dating a sex addict.
Starting point is 00:19:48 I personally enjoyed your... I'd love to see you back on the show. Come back on the show if you can stomach it. Yes, I would love to. If they ask me back, I'd definitely be down for it. Bravo. Get her back on and jump in our iTunes ratings and reviews. Five stars.
Starting point is 00:20:03 Kind words. Follow Katie everywhere. What are your socials? Where can people find you? My Instagram is KM Glazer. All right. Go there. Follow and strap in. What?
Starting point is 00:20:16 Katie, thank you for joining us today. We'll talk to you soon. Thank you, guys. Thanks, Katie. Talk soon.
