What's up, everybody, and welcome back to another episode of Anything Better, NFL edition.
You guys were asking you, they didn't know if we were going to make it, but we are here on the day of, Bill, the day of your team playing tonight, week one.
How the hell are you, buddy?
Wait a minute.
Wait, we're not starting this way.
What's that?
Paul.
You know what we're going to talk about.
I know.
I was just inter-
I know.
Is the fan of your defending NBA champion New York Knicks.
Congratulations, buddy.
Well, thank you.
I was going to bring it up later because I didn't want to be selfish.
But, dude, I got it.
No, no, no.
The fans have been waiting.
They want to see this.
Dude, the fans were asking.
The fans wanted a reaction.
It was everything I hoped it would be.
But here's the funniest part about it, Bill.
Lucas, collapsed.
I have the video.
I'm not going to show the video.
But Lucas collapsed.
My son, my wife said nobody was able to celebrate with him
because he collapsed on the floor, both hands like this,
uncontrollably crying for three minutes straight.
And then got up and was like being consoled.
He feels big emotions.
He feels big emotions.
Paul, you're going to tell me you didn't shed a tear?
I wouldn't give it anything there.
Dude, you know what happened to me?
I put my hands over my face, and I had flashbacks of all the 90s losses.
And then I saw them celebrating and just joy.
It was unbelievable, dude.
Yeah, one of my favorite things to see in sports beyond selfishly seeing my own team win is when any team.
I don't care who it is.
Any team and a drought like that, dude.
Oh, Paul, the monkey's off your back.
What is it about that?
Yeah, you just hit on something, though.
When the Red Sox did it and they came back from the Yankees, they did it in that fashion.
The Knicks finally did it.
They have 16 games out of 19 dominant.
What do you think?
You think when a team gets it off their back, it's just, it's like a historic thing?
Well, you asking me why I is, you know, not a Knicks fan as a Celtics fan, enjoyed it?
I mean, who does, who wants to, you know, who doesn't root for people that have just been fucking,
stepped on at all of this heartbreak, you know, either in life or, oh, I know,
racist and meathead sports fans.
Other than that, I mean, I don't know why you would want to see somebody fans or whatever
just beating down.
You want to see them win, like seeing the Cubs, seeing Kansas City get one.
By the way, too, like I was talking about this on my podcast.
if the 1986 Red Sox, the Buckniff game,
if all of that shit doesn't happen,
like the year before,
people, like the fact that nobody talks about that series,
the Cardinals had the game one in game six.
This guy was out by a full step at first base,
and he called him safe or the other way around,
but it was a full step and this guy got it wrong,
and the Cardinals just lost their composure.
And then they went into game.
they lost like, you know, like fucking 11 to 1.
And it was in that that umpire, oh my God, you want to talk about death threats?
Jesus Christ.
And everybody forget.
So to see Casey come back, no controversial call, see them win one.
Washington Capitals was a great one to see them win their first one.
The Saints in 2010.
Yep.
That was after Katrina, too, yeah.
Yep.
Obviously, my red socks, there's been some big ones, the white socks, which was a weird one.
Because nobody, like, tracked how long it had been.
No one tracked that they fixed the World Series because they called them the Black Sox.
I thought it was a defunct team.
I had no idea what that was.
There you go, Chicago.
Even when they're all-white team throws a World Series, they still blame the Blacks.
No, but I meant more of like...
Have in Boston or run for their own money, Paul.
I, um, no, but I meant like it's kind of like the dramatic fashion in which they did it,
but I got one really funny for you, dude.
Okay.
When O.G. and O.G. and O.B. tipped that ball in to the 29 drought that we had,
29 points were down and he tips it in and we win.
Lucas is running around and I just go, come here.
And I didn't, I was so happy. I didn't realize how much bigger he is than me.
So he jumped in my arms with, like,
like his legs wrapped around me and his arms,
but it looked so awkward because he's bigger than me.
So I was like, oh, dude, I hope I could hold him.
Like, I almost went down on the couch.
Oh, was that hanging down by your ankles?
No, I was, there was, uh, not bandwagon,
but there was, you know, some diehards.
And you're the biggest diehard and my biggest friend.
So I was very happy for you guys.
Oh, I appreciate.
Congratulations, Paul.
Dude, I appreciated it, man.
And it was what we needed.
It was so nice to see New York City like that.
And I'm going to say this.
I don't want to make this nice moment negative.
But beating that dirty piece of shit Frenchman Wembe, that also didn't hurt.
Because, dude, that guy was trying, those picks when he was jumping up in the air with those fucking.
That was the kick.
Dude.
Dude, that guy, he was trying to, he was trying to accidentally, like, hit the guy the side of his knee.
Dude, I've never, dude, 50 years of watching basketball.
I never saw anybody set up.
a pick that way.
A jump kick to a knee?
I mean, dude.
No, he just missed it.
He was trying to do like that, who was that piece of shit that was on the Warriors, who
you did a jump shot, three-pointer, he'd slide his foot under and he would turn around like
that, like he didn't know what he was doing, and then you'd land on his foot and roll your
ankle.
Yep, yep.
It wasn't the Shrek looking dude.
It was the other dude.
Tremont Green, no.
Not that guy.
No, they had another guy.
Oh, they did.
All right.
some European guy over there.
Okay, yeah, dude.
He, you know, grabbing Brunzer by the back of the neck.
He tried jump kicking the knee of OG.
So just to what?
Leaves doesn't say congratulations.
So beating him was fantastic.
Oh, Bill, we did it.
He was like a heel in wrestling by the end of it.
I was just like, at first I was like,
what the fuck is wrong with this guy?
Then I'm like, I think he kind of enjoys this.
It's weird because he's like 19 years old,
and he's trying to bully like a 35-year-old.
Yeah, and somebody's like, Paul, that's how somebody got mad at me.
He goes, Paul, that's how they play in Europe.
That's Europe basketball.
And I'm like, no.
No.
What, they're just all dirty?
And so everybody's blowing their knees out and rolling their ankles every game.
Like, how would that be good for the sport?
No.
And, you know, they made, look, now LeBron went to the Sixers, all this stuff.
You know, the East got shook up.
Your boy left, your boy Jalen Brown left.
And I got to give you a take before LeBron even got there, that one of my Boston buddies,
this is not my opinion.
I was doing whatever else is doing.
Why did we get rid of this guy?
It's not only one of the best players in the league.
MIT or NASA, call him up for advice.
What are we doing?
So that's legit, dude.
Yeah.
You guys speak Arabic.
You're like, well, literally, you're not just trading a basketball, but you're trading a renaissance match.
So I was like most Celtics fans
scratching my head trying to figure out what that was
and my buddy goes, dude, he goes, I know this isn't a popular take
but he goes, we just hand, I love how he said this.
He's like, dude, we just handed the Philadelphia 76s
a live grenade with the pin pulled.
And I'm like, all right, dude, I'm in. What are you saying?
And he goes, well, they got Joelle and B.
Who's their other guy? Their other star on the...
Maxie.
And then now they got Jalen Brown.
and they all want the ball.
There's only one ball.
Now you've got LeBron there.
So now it's going to have to happen is everybody,
I think Jalen can do it, you know,
because he's like a genius.
So I think he'll understand the bigger picture or whatever.
But I don't know about, I don't know,
it never seems to like, dude, like Oklahoma City,
they should have won.
After they blew that 3-1 lead to the Warriors,
they should have come back the next year,
knew how to win.
with Westbrook and all of those guys.
And, like, they just, they just, there's too much talent and only one ball.
And then the whole thing just getting, you know, Duran and who's the other guy?
It looks like your uncle with the big beard there.
Yeah, you guys, it was.
The four-step drop.
He gets happy to eat the pocket.
Yeah, James Hardin.
James Hardin.
Yeah, there you go.
Westbrook and Durant.
Good for Westbrook.
The Westbrook just stood away this year.
He just retired.
He said, I'm done.
but how many times have you seen a team do that?
I've seen teams try to get five guys that need the basketball
that are all starting five.
The Lakers tried doing it with Carl Malone and Gary Payton and Kobe and this one.
It just doesn't work, dude.
Oh, the Lakers are the king of it.
It doesn't work.
The Lakers are the king of, you know, building around Kobe bringing in three, four free agents
and it didn't like work out.
Like, I don't know.
That's the way.
Baseball has been guilty of it.
Oh, yeah.
The talks.
Yankees have done it and just get a whole bunch of guys and it just fucking...
No.
Who is that fucking guy we got?
Royed out of his mind.
We got him in like September somehow.
He was a relief pitcher.
He was on a West Coast team dude.
And he was all roided up.
And it was right when they were starting to test and he stopped doing the Royds dude.
And he was just fucking serving him up.
And he was lights out.
Yeah.
Westcoe.
I wanted to say he came out of saying.
The fuck was his name?
Big Piedon, Eric, Eric Gagne, what was it?
Eric Gagne.
Eric Gagne.
Yeah, Gagne.
He was like, he was a stud closer.
Yeah.
And people were going, people were going, this guy's better than Mariano.
This guy's the new guy.
And it was like, nah, I don't think anybody was saying.
Anybody who said he's better than Mariano was an idiot.
Oh, I had a Metfan friend go fucking Mariano's not the guy anymore.
It's this guy.
It's like, all right.
It's wishful thinking.
He knows it's not the truth.
Exactly.
Anyway, the Red Sox and Yankees are on a collision course.
I feel like we're like, I don't think we're both championship teams.
I feel like we're like hot rods.
You know, we got some new exhaust system.
We put a new carburetor on it.
I don't feel like, you know, dude, the fucking, how do you feel as the Yankee fan
that the Dodgers are now making the Yankees look like a mom and pop store?
With all the money they're spending out there.
I know.
I know.
Well, dude, what about the Red Sox?
Hold on.
Let's talk about the Red Sox.
The Red Sox are dead and buried every year the first two months.
And then they just fucking, what, they run off?
21?
No, 18?
No, no, 15.
But then they won like 30 out of 33.
But this year in particular, dude.
Yeah.
We was so like, you know, it wasn't even like dead in the water.
We usually just kind of suck.
We start slow.
But this was the one where like, you know, there was people going like, this is the
worst Red Sox team.
seen in like 30 years.
You know what's hilarious?
It's just this amazing guy up there that has this Instagram account.
What is it?
Uncle Fern.
And his whole thing, he already has a high-pitched voice.
And he starts it like, you know, whatever, a high octave.
And then goes up Mariah Carey by the end of it.
He goes, he's fucking team.
You fucking ownership, you need.
Oh, I know that guy.
And he gets way up there.
Dude, I know that guy.
It's fucking hilarious.
So his whole thing was his whole bit on Instagram was that the Red Sox ownership needs to sell the fucking team.
They don't know what they're doing.
And all of a sudden, they just catch fire.
And I haven't seen them.
I mean, I don't go on social media that much, but I'm a huge fan of his.
But like, I'm thinking like, like, what is it's like when Dan Shaughnessy was making all that money off the curse of the babe.
When the curse ended, it's like, now what are you going to do?
Yeah.
no one's going to buy the book.
And I remember a year later, we were in first place.
We got a couple injuries.
And then we started the tank in September.
And he tried this shit shot as he's like, is the curse back?
He should have just had the books behind him.
Oh, my God.
No, dude, I saw that guy.
They were interviewing that guy on Lansdown Street right behind the thing.
He's going, this is the worst fucking team.
These guys don't know how to.
I saw that, dude.
It was so great.
It was so great.
He just curses his brain.
These motherfucking clock suck
he should have sold this fucking team.
What I love about it
is how ridiculous
being a sports thing. You can sit
there because you're not in it at that point. You're like,
why does this guy give a fuck this much?
But then I also love him that he does.
And you know he's watching like every game.
Dude, I have to tell you, you know,
that's Nick Totoro for Red Sox fans.
Like my favorite,
how much that guy gives the shit about game 47 of the regular season, game 112.
He's to go for walks, Paul.
No, dude.
There's a, like, they lose game 112, and he takes it the way I take losing a playoff game.
No, dude, there's a comedian at the stand.
Derek, shout out to Derek Dresher.
Guy, like, got out of rehab, changed his life, does comedy now.
He's always at the stand.
And I just go, Derek, you got it every day.
It's fire.
We're not going to do it.
We could win eight to two.
And he'll go, yeah, but that era, it's just, I just go, do you ever,
there's some guys, dude.
No, that's his parents.
He probably lived on one compliment a year.
Dude, that's how I grew up.
My brother one time was golfing, you know,
and he wanted to maybe, you know, think about, like,
into the golfing world.
So, yeah.
My mother, of course, didn't believe in him.
So he fucking gets an eagle.
And he calls my mother.
He goes, hey, mom.
He goes, I got an eagle on the seventh hole today.
My mother just goes, oh, yeah?
What did you do in the other holes?
Oh.
Dude, I had to stop telling my mother when I was on TV.
Oh, dude.
Oh, my God.
Critics were nicer.
just eviscerate me.
And then I would tell her, like, how much it hurt my feelings
and she would just laugh.
Oh, my God.
She goes, I'm just trying to make it better.
Oh, dude, Bill, I'm crying.
That's so funny.
You're, like, evolved.
Like, when you talk to an evolved comedian
that goes to therapy, you're just like,
no, it's their parents.
You just pinpoint the problem.
Oh, yeah, no.
If you can't find a win and a win, dude,
that goes, that's not you just a negative guy.
Like, that shit gets hammered into you.
Dude, what you do on the other holes is,
from your mom.
Oh, yeah.
I did Conan when my mother goes,
you should have tucked your shirt in.
It looked like you were wearing a dress.
So then the next time I wear like a fucking suit,
and then she goes,
you shouldn't do any more short sets.
You're much better when it's longer.
Oh, geez.
Dude, when I did law and order,
my grandmother, like, trolled me.
I had, like, two lines on it.
It was something like, you're feeding the fish, you know?
The blah, blah, blah.
And it turned out to be a guy in a dress, whatever the proper term is now.
And I went, whoa, and I kind of backed off.
And then she did the lines on the phone.
Oh, my gosh.
Oh, with your feet and your fissies.
Yeah, did you fuck you miss?
She just hung up.
What?
Oh, yeah, I've been getting heckled my whole life, dude.
Oh, God.
It's like, oh, this, this is familiar.
Oh, my God.
No, but that's her side of the family.
That's their idea of complimenting you.
No, that's their love.
That's the way they show it.
Yeah, their love languages.
Yeah, nice job.
You fucking suck.
Dude, the first time I ever did TV, my mom goes, I'm so proud.
Because my mom's sweet, but she just goes, I'm so proud of you.
But can you, I wouldn't know wore gray.
Gray just doesn't look good on it.
And I was just like, all right.
That's like, all right.
It's like, do you know, like every comic wanted to be that guy on Conan that night,
a letterman, and it was actually my turn?
Yeah. Yeah.
What are you going to do?
No, boomers, dude.
Boomers just don't know, you know.
My dad would always go, don't get upset.
I'm not blaming a whole generation, Paul.
There's plenty of boomers that fucking could give up a compliment.
Yeah, that's true, but they're also fucking whatever.
Blame in generations, entire generations for where we're at.
It's like every generation has their Einstein's.
their sweethearts and their fucking Hitler's.
It's just, it is what it is.
It's what God does.
It's what he wants.
What he wants.
And all the pieces of shit ascend to power because they have no problem pouring shit
in the water supply.
And all the decent people go, I'm not fucking doing that.
And then there's one guy, I'll fucking do it.
Hey, buddy, guess we've got himself a corner office.
Oh, Paul, we're getting deep.
Let's get it.
Well, you know what, though?
Here's the gift.
Here's the gift that keeps given.
The gift that keeps given is NFL is back.
And we're here for week one.
And we're going to bring
in for the first time in this season, we're going to bring in our injury guy.
Our injury reporter for week one is back.
Jake the fucking snake.
Look it up.
Jake, you're looking like really studious with the glasses this year?
You're ready to go.
Yeah, you look like you're ready to release the new operating system.
That's true.
They're not like us.
I'll be in a new place.
starting next week. So it'll be a little brighter, hopefully. But yeah, no, excited to be back.
And, yeah, I mean, this just all this means is anything better is here and football's back.
So, you know, that's, it's going to be really exciting. How do you feel about your charges this year?
I feel good. You know, it's always like some guys are overhyping them. Some guys think we're going to suck.
So it's, it's kind of the same. We got through training camp healthy. And Mike McDaniel is going to be a really big help.
we finally have someone really smart at offensive coordinator.
So Jake, you think we'll be fun to watch.
Yeah.
Well, we'll be really fun to watch.
So I think it's going to be, it's tough because the division is really good.
So it's going to be between obviously us, Denver and Kansas City, you know, any of those three can win the division.
So how's the home?
And he's all healed up.
Yeah, he's coming back from an ACL tear.
They say he's playing.
So that'll be Monday night against Denver.
That's going to be exciting.
Paul, sorry, you're going to ask something.
Is Jake breaking up on you, Bill or no?
No.
Oh, I think that's you, Paul.
You live out in the mountains.
Paul's the man of the Appalachian.
I was going to say to you, does Paul, Paul, do you and Jake the Snakeville kinship,
considering both your teams are coached by the Harbaugh, the Harbaugh, brother.
Yeah.
Listen, dude.
I'm happy with it.
I'm hearing that the players can't believe now how it was run with Dayball.
I'm hearing that.
say, dude, like the Giants are not going to be what they were last year.
Dude, I heard Isaiah likely, Isaiah likely just said, he just goes, they did what last year
at practice?
Like, I heard it was a clown show, dude.
I mean, that's what it looked like on the field.
Dude, when you had that Tommy Cutlets and his fucking brother was on the field dressed like
he was doing an episode of the Sopranos, I was like, is this like musical theater?
Like, what am I watching here?
Why is his brother on the field?
It's agent.
Oh, his agent.
Even worse.
He's on our team now, Paul.
Yeah.
Paul, I think of him.
Oh, he's living in the North End.
Bill, you guys play tonight, buddy.
Oh, Jake, I'm sorry.
So, Jake, what are we doing with injuries here?
Is Malik neighbor's going to play week one?
Yes, they just announced he's playing yesterday.
I think your Giants are going to be good, Paul.
You know, when we...
I'm going to be there before.
before, oh, you're going a Sunday night football against the Cowboys?
You're going to the game, he said?
The Verzi family, the Verzi family, all four of us,
wife, son, daughter, we will be there.
We'll be down in the lower bowl.
We're ready to go.
And, yeah, man, we're excited.
I'm excited to have a hardball.
I'm excited to have a good defense.
I like the draft.
We'll see what happens with Jackson Dart.
I think he's going to be good.
Yeah, I was just going to add, we had a bunch of clown coaches before,
Jim Harbaugh. And like what what Harbaugh brought to us at least is like he brought like a real
culture and you know, he just he just brought some stability and like a real thing. So I think
your defense is going to be great and you know if the offense stays healthy, I think I think
nobody's going to want to play the Giants every week. I think they're going to be great. But I'll
get to injuries real quick. What's great about week one is most, mostly everybody's healthy,
which is always exciting. But there's a few injuries just to report. Well, the Rams got Aaron
Donald back, but he won't play
tomorrow in Australia, so
they'll just be without him.
But obviously, they're still going to have
Australia.
When the NFL going to give up
on this global domination?
It's just not going to happen.
They're quadrupling down this year.
The Cardinals versus
the commanders in Malaysia.
Might as well be.
Dude, I
I was speaking of that, I went to a
CFL game when I
was up in Calgary.
Dude, it's fucking hilarious.
It was with three Americans, the first play,
we're all like going,
illegal motion.
Illegal motion.
It's like fucking three receivers doing a running start.
They have two, two that stands stationary.
Three do a running start before the ball snaps.
They have 12 guys on the field,
so they run a spread offense and still have a running back.
And there's only three downs.
Dude, a sack is devastating.
I bet.
It's devastating in CFL.
Yeah.
They're smaller and faster.
It's all those guys with heart
where they said you were too small
to make it to the next level
and they did until they got to the pro.
But they're still playing pros.
Dude, they're saying that the flight is so long,
it's going to be like high school
where they're going to like get off the plane
in their uniforms,
be there for like four hours
and get back on the plane.
It's fucking nuts.
They better drink plenty of water.
Yeah.
I flew from New York to fucking Sydney, Australia,
and I didn't know I didn't drink any water.
The next day I woke up to take a piss.
I thought he had gonorrhea.
Let's go, what's going on?
Hey, Bill, let's go to, let's go to Week 3 in India.
We got the Jets First to Titans from Mumbai, India.
No, it's just like they can't just be happy being fucking.
billionaires. They look at the FIFA World Cup guys and they think that that's going to, it's just like,
the thing is, is the economics of soccer versus the economics. You get a fucking ball and two sticks
of the thing you can fucking play. Same thing with hoop. Yeah. Hoop will go global before the NFL.
The NFL, Jesus, fucking Christ, you need 40 people, uniforms and all of that shit. It's too much
overhead. Nah, dude. It got crazy when I started going Germany. I get London.
it's close.
Australia's nuts, man.
I don't even get London.
All they do is shit on American football.
During the off season, you go over there.
Roy, why they call it football, mate?
Picking it up with your hands.
Every fucking time you go there,
and every time they think that that's some brilliant take,
it's like, I get it.
Yeah.
I get it.
I'll tell you something else, too.
I was lucky enough to go to the World Cup final out there in New York.
And I and what, no, no, in New Jersey.
Excuse me.
It was in New Jersey.
That's the way New Jersey is treated.
That fucking final was in New Jersey.
And they say the World Cup final in New York, New Jersey.
New York even got the fucking first credit.
You're right.
I bet to say New Jersey.
But no, anyway, it was all grass fields.
It's like crazy that they're just going to put the turf back on.
All these stadiums suddenly were able to do grass fields.
It's like, why just, why not keep it?
Yeah, they say in the rubber from those old tires is a carcinogen.
They band it in Europe, along with Gatorade and a whole bunch of other shit that they just give us.
Hey, dude, don't have a burger in the next three months.
Let that fucking Argentinian beef go through your neighbor, not you.
These are the choices you have to make.
This is a first world country.
Yeah.
Dude.
How many stars have to rip their fucking knee before they just go grass?
It doesn't happen on grass, really.
It's nuts.
It's ridiculous.
out in LA, it's turf.
It's crazy.
I'll rip through a couple more injuries real quick.
It's not too many.
But the Packers have two big ones.
Micah Parsons still has not recovered from his ACL injury from last year.
So he's going to miss the last month.
I know.
Great player.
So hopefully you can come back out there.
And then Josh Jacobs,
their running back has a domestic violence off the field issue.
So he won't be playing it for likely the first 10 weeks of the season.
That's a hell of an argument.
Yeah, so that is ongoing.
We'll see what happens there.
And then Andrew made a good point.
You think once everybody's temper calms down,
I'm going to go out on Olympia because I don't know what happened on both sides.
And now he's suspended for 10 games and they're not getting that money.
Yeah.
You're just kind of sitting there.
Was it worth that much to be that right?
Couldn't one of us just said,
Hey, you know what?
You're making a good point.
My bad.
And de-escalated it.
If I'm an NFL player, I'm never getting on an elevator with my wife drunk.
Ever.
Oh, was that another drunk elevator thing?
That was the other guy.
Yeah, he went out.
Same thing as Ray Rice.
He went in the elevator, the camera on the elevator.
Oh, it's another incident, but the camera of the elevator.
You get claustrophobic.
You feel like there's no way out of the relationship.
you panic.
She lunged at him, spit at him, and then, dude, she went down.
I'm extra nice when I get in an elevator.
I am extra nice.
Yeah, I don't go on the elevator drunk.
Just take the stairs.
Hey, Paul.
Yeah, there you go, Jake, take the stairs, man.
Ladies, if you're dating an NFL player, take the stairs.
I don't know what it is.
If it's CTE, the, what are they, iridescent?
What are they called?
The fucking light, I don't know what it is.
Those doors closed.
They turn into Ron Burgundy.
I'm in a glass box of a ocean.
That's a reality show.
That's a reality show.
You put two people in a long-term relationship in an elevator.
The door closes, and they have to resolve whatever they major issues are
before the door opens without them trying to be.
beat the shit out of each other.
The NFL player says to his wife,
we're going to dinner tonight.
What floor is it on?
What floor is it on?
You know what?
I got something.
I can't make it.
No, no, I'll meet you there.
I'll meet you there.
Oh, God.
Well, this is great, dude.
We are back.
We are back.
Jake, is that it?
We have nothing else, yeah?
There was one more I'll mention.
Arizona drafted this great rookie running.
back from Notre Dame.
He had...
Love.
...dangered during the preseason.
Yeah, Jeremiah Love.
He's going to be a great player.
Seems questionable as of Wednesday to play week one,
but the coach had said he's optimistic,
which is usually a good sign that they're going to play.
So...
How about Philip Rivers?
How's he looking?
Well, he played last year.
Hopefully he's retired.
But, you know, that was...
I love when he came back.
That was awesome.
That was a fun story.
He has enough kids that it sounded like a crowd.
He believed that he could do it.
One of them is like, they were doing the wave in his living room.
And he's like, I still got it.
Andrew Demlist, the Greek freak.
We got to get you in here.
The trust fund kid.
Yeah.
There he is.
That's why he blurs out the background.
You don't want to see all that gilded stuff in the background.
He's got a gilded iPhone case.
Andrew, you're one of those guys you don't know.
if you're broke or rich, but you always look rich.
That's so funny, because I usually get the opposite.
I drive a 95G, I wear a T-shirt.
You know, I'm usually, you know.
Is this your life or Springsteen lyrics?
Well, they were shitty, so they must be Springsteen lyrics.
Oh!
Oh!
Shots fired at the boss!
I was just going to say that.
The guy's almost 80.
Good for him.
You can't have a manicure and be singing about the factory.
It's just like, relax.
The most overrated in the world.
Oh, wait, you know what?
I thought the domestic violence jokes were going to get us to some emails.
I know shit.
I'll take three Billy Jules over one.
Oh, wow.
My dad's going to turn your email.
That's funny.
All right, let's say something positive about Bruce.
I watched that movie they did about him and his manager.
I loved it.
I went to Bruce Springsteen.
to a Bruce Springsteen concert because he's my dad's favorite.
And it was, uh,
it was at this call,
it was at the sports arena, the LA sports arena,
but right before it closed and he was on there for like four,
maybe five hours. It was insane.
He kept, he jumped in the crowd like three different times.
And he was definitely in his 70s, 80s.
His, whether you love him or hate him, like his energy is crazy.
Yeah, but I can tell you something.
Go fuck yourself.
Anything, anything past two hours and 20 minutes.
Oh, I'm not going.
Yeah.
Fish calls it at two and a half.
Like, what are we doing here?
Two and a half would have been planning.
Dude, give me.
What the fuck was he singing in five hours?
Ro, row, row your boat.
Dude, give me Phil Collins all day.
Oh, yeah.
Dude, you give me Phil Collins for an hour and a half.
I'm happy.
I got made fun of it.
I got made fun of in high school.
I was one of those kids in high school.
I had a kicker in the back.
I had the pumping thing.
And I had, and my friends would laugh.
I had the best of Phil Collins,
greatest hits in my car in high school.
I'd take Phil Collins now laying in a bed over Bruce Springsteen.
How can you just turn and walk away?
Oh, God.
Oh, how I wish it would rain down, down on me.
First he had against all odds on laser disc.
No, we all got guilty shit.
But his face, uh, Andrew, Andrew loves Steve Windward.
I'm guilty.
Steve Winwood?
I thought Phil Collins, yeah, but I love...
Bring me the higher love.
Well, you know, I mean, there's definitely, you know,
when they were tucking the blousey shirt into the dockers
and they had the fan going for their corporate mullet.
Yeah.
Who's... I got caught.
You guys remember Sam Goody?
You guys remember Sam Goody at your malls, right?
Yeah.
Remember when you could buy a single cassette?
It was a cassette, but it was the single...
Cingle.
Yeah.
And it had a little, like, you know, paper around.
Dude, I stole, what's his, what's the guy's name?
Mark Richards?
Keith, Mark Richards, is that?
No, no, no, no.
Keith Richards?
No.
Not Brian Adams.
No.
You don't I'm talking about it.
He's doing it.
Not Keith Richards.
Richard Marks?
Richard Marks.
Richard Marks.
Dude, Richard Marks, dude, me and my friend went in.
I took a single and I put it down my pants.
And they followed me on the escalator and I dumped it in a fake plant.
And when they frisked me, I didn't have it.
But that's what I was stealing.
Richard Mark.
What's on?
Andrew, what's that one?
What's the big one?
Yeah, hold on to the nights.
Don't mean nothing.
No, it was a love.
No, that was the Georgia satellites.
Don't mean nothing.
That guy's voice would crack.
Should have known better.
Yes.
Should have known better than to fall in love with you.
I think it was that one.
I think it was that one.
But yeah, dude, I love shit like that.
Don't get me wrong.
Being a kid when you didn't judge music, you just heard some good music on the radio.
But let's be honest.
Let's be honest here.
I like all of that shit.
In defense of the boss, though, dude, in defense of the boss, when I was nine, 10 years old,
born in the USA, fucking ripped, dude, come on.
I actually think his 80s shit's the best.
I think, like, hungry heart.
I'll take that over fucking streets of Philadelphia.
it. All the, all the
Springsteen heads, like, don't love that song.
I know. It's too cheesy.
I know. I know.
That's the ironic part.
Yeah, I don't know.
One of my favorite things, though, is winding up
Springsteen fans.
I just go, like, you mean,
it's kind of like, uh, you know,
he's sort of like jerseys, like Bob Seeger.
Dude, the fuck you're talking about.
I love doing that shit.
Um, yeah, you know,
He's got like the raspy voice.
He's got the, you know, Bob Seeger had the silver bullet band.
He has the East Street band.
I mean, it's kind of, they sang to the working man.
20 years.
Who called him the boss, though?
Did he call himself the boss?
I think the band called him the boss.
All right.
Well, then for a while, I think they called him the douche.
And then they worked it out in an elevator.
Are we going to talk football here?
Let's get back to me.
Yeah.
Didn't I put the bill.
We're excited to be back.
He put the bill of his hat in his pocket, didn't he?
Who did?
Springsteen had the bill of his hat in his back pocket.
You know, I actually heard that Bob Seeger song the other day,
Old Time Rock and Roll.
It's one of the most self-involved songs I've ever heard.
There's only one sure way to get me to go.
Start playing old-time rock and roll.
It's like, hey, Bob, you don't have to go.
That's great.
The party's going to be fine if you don't fucking show up.
It's like, you ain't going to see me down there unless you play the exact music that I like.
Who wants that guy to party?
Everybody think the way I do.
Tell you what, I listen to that song Sailing over the summer.
That's a fucking banger, dude.
That's Christopher Cross.
Dude, that kid.
The worst thing ever is people think yacht rock, they actually think it's bad music and cheesy music.
To me.
Oh, no.
Oh, no.
We lost Bill.
All right.
I'm back.
How many fucking songs those studio musicians played on on other people?
People saying I don't like yacht rock are listening to the guys on their, you know,
and I'm telling you, NDAs were signed, Paul.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
Shout out.
I suppose for agreements.
All right.
Let's do this.
All right.
Let's do this, guys.
We are back with our picks for,
Week one, it is an even year, which means I think it's mine.
I think because Bill went first.
By the way, Bill Burke coming off of one of the greatest playoff run.
You had a Knicks.
Dude, you had a Knicks playoff run in last year's thing.
You actually had a better record.
You beat the book when it came to the whole thing.
Yeah, we don't count the playoffs, though, against the book for whatever.
Dude, you were seven and one again.
It was nuts, dude.
Andrew, can we pull up, just because I'm on the phone, can we pull up the, oh.
Oh, oh, this gives me.
to Willys.
Oh, it's okay.
Well, I'm just going to do this out of the gate.
I'm going to do this out of the gate, and I know, I know you guys are going to laugh,
but here's why I'm going to do it.
My whole family is going to the Giants game, and the spread is under three.
If the spread was above three, I would go, I don't know, but the spread is two and a half.
Giants are getting two and a half at the home opener against the rival Cowboys.
I like what we do with our defense.
Not quite a pick-em, but maybe a pick-em.
I'm going to take my New York football giants
getting two and a half opening night
against the hated rival Dallas Cowboys.
Paul, I'll tell you something.
That'll be one of my picks, too.
I'm riding with your G-Men for week one.
I don't know if it's an order.
But yes, I'll just say now that's one of mine.
I think the Giants have what the Cowboys need.
They have stability.
And I just think that there's too much, you know, all the shit that they always say about the Cowboys organization.
I don't think that they fix that problem.
So I love that call.
All right.
So I got to bet my Patriots tonight, even though my, I hate the half a point.
And I have a bad feeling this is a hangover game from our improbable 58 turnovers and still made it to the Super Bowl run we did last year.
That has to be a record.
Nobody's ever turned over the ball that much of the playoffs and made it there.
So I hate the half a point.
And Seattle's a great organization.
They always play tough.
If this wasn't my team, I would, and it wasn't the first game of the year, I would take Seattle.
I'm going to go with the Pats, three and a half because they're my team and I love them.
I fucking love that pick.
Oh, and I'm not just saying that.
Speaking of that, guess what, everybody?
tomorrow night.
Yours truly.
I'm in Boston.
I'm in Boston tomorrow.
And guess what, Bill?
Joe Bartnick and Boston's own Will Noonan on the show.
Oh, there you go.
We will be at Lab Boston tomorrow.
So get your tickets.
That's one show tomorrow night.
I love the Patriots getting points.
Why is it not in Seattle, though?
It must be in Seattle, right, Andrew.
Yeah, that's got to be wrong, Andrew.
All right.
All right.
Very powerful ways.
Oh, well, then it puts a little.
formatting issues.
Wait a minute.
And they're on the road and they're fucking laying three and a half?
It should be at Seattle.
I think it is.
Because they're raising the banner.
Yeah.
It's got to be.
apologies.
Amah Homer.
It's not going to hear it.
No.
All right, Paul.
What are you got?
All right.
For pick number two.
Week one, dude.
That that Bill's Texas game is tough.
I can't wait to watch that.
Bill's under new man.
management.
Bill's under new management.
They got to...
The Applebee's down the street, Paul.
Under new management.
Oh, dude.
Unbelievable.
I only have one other game that I like,
and if you take it,
I'm going to be on the ropes early this year.
I don't think I'm going to take it.
But you know what?
Let me see here.
I don't like that game either, dude.
Are the Cardinals that bad?
I mean, maybe.
The book seems to think so.
Nine and a half week one?
I mean, why even play the season, Paul?
I'm going to take, you know what I'm going to do?
This is nuts.
I'm going to take the New York Jets against the Tennessee Titans.
The Jets are getting one and a half.
Both teams are bad.
The New York Jets are they think the only team in NFL history
to not get a single interception last year,
which is the craziest shit I ever heard.
I think they get one week one.
That's how nuts it is.
I think they're going to get one week one.
This is basically a pick-em.
I'm going to just take the Jets getting one-and-a-half
because both teams suck.
All right.
I'm going to take the Colts at home against the Ravens,
getting three-and-a-half,
and the Ravens have a new coach.
I think any time you get a new coach,
it takes a minute to get everybody on the same page.
And for whatever reason,
the Colts just always seem to score points.
They've been doing that.
Like the last like four or five seasons,
very quietly, just scoring points and covering.
And they were great for me last year.
And I'm a loyal guy.
I'm going with the Indianapolis Colts.
Getting three at home, downtown Indianapolis.
That's the way it was.
September 10th, 19, 2000, what is it, 26?
September 9th.
And there's nothing we can do about it.
It's not we can do about it.
It's over.
Uh,
I'm going to take, is that six and a half?
I'm going to take the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Eight and a half.
What is it?
Eight and a half.
Oh, I thought that was six and a half.
Hold on.
I'm going to reconsider.
I am going to reconsider.
Eight and a half.
I mean, God, some of these teams, I don't know, dude.
Couldn't take Detroit Lions.
I'm going to take the Lions at home.
It's a touchdown.
The Saints are bad.
The lions need to bounce back.
They got Gibbs.
They got Goph's back, right?
He's healthy.
Mm-hmm.
Yep.
I'm going to go Lions minus a touchdown.
Lions, it is.
Yeah, it's a team that's going to be good all season.
All right.
Yeah, we lost some of the games down there.
Yeah, bringing it back.
I just wanted Paul to be able to get his eyes on it.
Yeah, I saw him leaning into the screen, too.
My eyes were worse.
Hey.
All right.
I'm going to take the Cardinals get nine and a half
because that's just a spread on the first fucking week.
And I feel like the charges go up big, you know.
You know, they're always taking people out after 100 pitches.
And I feel like they do that shit in football now, too.
So maybe they get some garbage time, stupid thing.
I don't know.
It's a good excuse for me to watch a late game,
the afternoon game call,
late afternoon.
There's a lot of three and a halfs
and that half point, man.
A lot of three and a halfs do, which I fuck it.
Which they know, they know what they're doing.
Two and a half there.
You know what game is really intriguing is the Broncos and Chiefs, man.
That line is wild.
Andrew, I'll tell you another one of my picks.
I like the Broncos that game.
Yeah, I'm taking the Broncos too.
I think the Broncos are just the better team.
I know what's the next game.
I'm going to take this next game because I just want.
to watch it.
I know what I'm doing.
I know what I'm doing.
I'm not saying I'm picking winners,
but I know what fucking losers I'm picking.
My God, dude, this is a...
I got to ask, the Dolphins Raiders.
I mean, do we think the dolphins have a chance here?
I mean, aren't they a mess?
Jim Florentine is a big-time Dolphins fan,
and he goes, yeah, it's rebuilding, four or five games.
I was going to say, I think they win three games all year.
They're terrible.
Well, the Raiders might win five games.
They still got me.
That's all it takes.
The Texans have such a good defense.
Why is that line one and a half when they have the best defense in football?
Is that because Josh Allen has DJ more?
I'm going to take the Buffalo Bills week one.
God, damn it.
That's what I was going to do.
I want to watch that game.
Good call.
That's going to be a great game to watch.
I'm going to take Buffalo week one.
What is it? Are they getting?
They're giving. Buffalo's given one and a half.
I'm going to take them.
Oh, wait a minute. The Patriots are, they get three and a half.
Patriots are getting three and a half.
Okay. And they're on the road.
Oh, all right. I feel better about myself.
Yeah. Yeah.
I was going to beat myself up at the end of this podcast.
I'm a fucking idiot.
We're a fucking idiot.
All right.
Steelers still have Aaron Rogers.
Yeah, this was last season.
Playing the Falcons.
Steve Bartkowski, is he still over there?
Yeah, Tewa, in case you're curious.
Atlanta has Tua.
Ah, whatever.
You know what?
I'm always going to be a Joe Burrow guy.
Played at LSU, he smoked cigars.
Early in the year, he's healthy.
Three and a half, the Bengals.
I think they jump all over those buccaneers.
Yep.
They jump all over them.
And they're coming off a bad year, too.
They need it.
Yeah.
Taking the Bengals, Lockett.
You and I are heads up there.
I'm taking the Bengals, or as Paul Versey calls them, the girl band, the Bengals.
The band.
Can you hear you hear the bang?
I'm taking Tampa Bay there.
We're going.
It's just another Manic Monday.
Oh, Jake, you like, oh, yeah.
Oh, man, I love Baker Mayfield, too.
Those are two of my favorite quarterbacks.
I know. I just think it's going to be a good game, and three and a half is, like, right at a number where I say maybe Tampa covers and Cincinnati wins.
Because I think you make a good point that, like, Bengals will probably win the game, but I like Tampa to cover.
You know what it is about Joe Burrow and Baker Mayfield? They're just like you, Jake. They're fucking gamers.
Whatever they have and they're coursing through their veins, that's what I feel like, whatever I talk to you.
Make me want to accomplish things.
That's amazing.
Well, wait a minute.
Andrew, who fucking very quietly beats the book every year is just sort of quietly putting in his...
Yeah, he put in the Raiders.
How does he go on a chance?
Don't have a chance.
But, well, you know, because Bill and Paul, obviously their tradition is they have to pick back and forth.
And then usually after the show, Jake and I just start plugging them in what we pick.
And Jake usually knows...
What do you got some backroom deal with that MGM?
Is that what the fuck it is?
I have to beat that.
By the way.
Happy Trails.
Who does that?
Pardon the interruption?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Happy trails.
Thank you, Ben-MGM.
We're flying solo.
Sorry, go ahead.
No, you're right.
I said we're flying solo.
Unsponsored this year.
You know what it is?
Verzi kicked their ass so many years in a row that they finally got the win and they took their ball and went home.
I got to tell you, Paul, I'm going to be honest with you.
I lost a little respect for that MGM.
unless they want to come back next year,
in which case, the doors open to forgiveness.
We can have a sit down.
We'd have a sit down, but it's going to take more.
Paul's going to get glasses like Jake
and walk into the room with a newspaper under his arm.
No, I want a written apology to Paul Verzi
that they didn't give him a chance to win his money back.
I mean, that was just some...
I mean, they could have done something, dude.
I never even got my pair of sneakers with my record on them.
Did they even give you a plaque?
I got nothing.
It's just, you know, they're scared of you.
You blame them?
No, you know, Paul, because not only you talented, you're like that old drink.
You're effervescent.
You got the vibes.
Dude, I had this great-
Talent doesn't scare talent, Paul.
I had this great couple come to see me in Detroit.
This guy was so great.
He had his lion's jersey, his wife had her hair done,
and she had this nice purse.
Sir, if you're listening,
You were one of my favorite audience members ever.
And he goes, hey, man, hey, man.
He was such a cool dude.
And he goes, hey, man, you see my wife's purse?
He goes, you bought that.
You bought that because of how you picked games.
And I go, thank you.
I go, but listen, this year I didn't do it.
He goes, it's okay.
It's okay.
It's okay.
It's okay.
It's okay.
It's okay.
One year.
It's okay.
We get back next year.
And that's what we're going to do, everybody.
I don't know.
FGM knows they're not going to beat you two years in a row, Paul.
They know it.
They were scared.
Like the fighter who fights not to lose the championship.
All right.
What do we got here?
We got a...
I've got my first three picks up.
I'll just say that I like the Bears as well at three and a half just to finish us off.
I like that too.
I was looking at that.
It didn't seem...
Am I allowed to take that?
Because I need all the help I can get.
But we're done.
I didn't know.
Oh, no.
I got four.
I got four.
No, yeah.
I thought you had four.
Yeah, yeah.
I'm going to tell you guys right now, though, make no mistake about this.
These points.
fives are going to kill you one of these point fives are going to kill you do two and a half
is fucking this fucking wise guy in Vegas back when the mob ran the fucking joint joints out there he said so i
can't say the joke but he was talking about the point fives and he said that half a point
killed more bleeps than bleep yeah i was like wow glad to know i'm not the only one taking the
The best was Jimmy the Greek when Jimmy the Greek would come on,
and he was literally standing there next to, like, Dick Nberg or one of those guys,
Brent Musburger.
And he was like, it was Brent Musburger.
And he goes, he goes, they're going to win the game.
He goes, I don't think they're going to win by eight.
They're going to win the game.
No, he couldn't even do that.
He'd have to say, I don't think they're going to win by a lot.
He spoke in code so you knew who he was picking.
That's great.
Jimmy the Greek.
I mean, what the fuck happened to this country that we don't have, we don't have names like that anymore.
Oh, my gosh.
Are we doing Monday Night Special?
Are you kidding me?
That's the intro I get.
All these years of my off-key singing, that's what I get.
I want to use me up.
Sorry, follow.
I mean, no, we are, you know what time.
Listen, by the way, it's a good Monday night because it's Broncos and it's the Chiefs in Kansas City.
The line is two and a half.
Oh, oh.
I got to sing the song here, Paul.
Bill, you know what time it is?
There's no more MGM, so there's no Monday night special.
That's, you know, that's, you know, that's, right, Terry.
We can say what we think, and then people can go off and do their own thing.
But I was saying, I used to sing, let the Monday night special, because that was marketing for those guys who are too afraid to fight you again.
Why don't you?
Hey, listen, you trade marked it.
It's no, no, Monday Night Special is our trademark, not theirs.
They lost it.
Right.
We still have it.
Now we're going to get sued.
Okay.
We're at the Monday Night Special.
With some money for you.
Yes.
Monday not special.
With the motherfucking money for you.
That's what's going to save us in the lawsuit.
The fact that I say, motherfucker in it.
It's like I clearly wrote those lyrics.
Um, what do you guys?
like, dude. I think I like the Broncos. Yeah. Now, Paul, let's not let our feelings about the
Chiefs. All right. Travis Kelsey got married to Taylor Swift. Yes. So they should be happy for at least
the next three seasons before you hit your first. I'm not rooting against their relationship. It's just how
marriage goes. Yeah. I don't know why if you're going to come home.
like hobbling like that every week like I mean I make enough money why don't you just quit
you guys footballs my life Taylor we got three seasons before that happens and then they start
playing Travis you know what happens to these guys brains Travis I'm bringing out a percussion
section that will be under the stage so everyone still looks at me but there is an opening for
to play the triangle.
Okay?
Now, that's a job where you don't have to take hits to the head.
I don't want to do that.
Reminds me a geometry.
Oh, wait a minute.
Or X's and O's, and then the quarterback's the triangle, isn't that what it is?
I love how you're giving him half a Stallone accent.
Yeah, he sounds like, I'm just doing this.
And what about her?
She's like, like she doesn't have any brains.
She's the one that figured out the fucking, the whole music industry.
That's the funny thing about Taylor Swift is like to look at her, you think she's like,
she's a fucking gangster.
Yeah.
I would not want her upset with me.
No, God bless both of them.
Come on, Paul, you're going to vote against romance?
Dude, he had a sham.
I'm so sick and knowing about who the chiefs of fucking dating.
Dude, he had a shitty year last year.
Travis Kelsey's fight.
What about the office?
What about the offensive lineman?
Dude, he looked fat in training camp, and he had a horrible year last year.
This guy's tapped out, dude.
He's on a farewell tour.
Who?
Travis Kelsey.
Fuck you, dude.
Everybody knows it's going to Travis Kelsey.
Everybody knows it.
It's like you're in the fucking huddle.
He still gets open and he still makes the catch.
He's going to get.
I'm just saying they're going to throw to him on third and six or third and long.
And he's got to get six and a half yards for a first.
off the line. He's like bronc.
Stop around. Yep.
What he does?
Look, the man's a winner.
I don't know what to tell you.
The Broncos are coming off that devastating
quarterback loss in the AFC championship.
They're going to be pissed.
Listen, I'll take the Broncos, Paul.
At the end of the day,
I chose our friendship over rational thought.
No, I have no idea what either one of these teams are going to do.
You've got to think Patrick Mahomes is going to be afraid to run.
you know, I don't know, maybe he's going to take a little bit to get comfortable with that new cadaver.
Maybe for the special.
We can buy a half point or something, get it to three, and then parlay one or two more things we like with that.
I'm trying to think what will be good.
That feels dirty to me.
I think we take Bronco straight out.
Why are we going to be scared?
It's week one.
You're right.
I'm sorry.
Let's start on table.
My point seems dirty to me.
Listen, the one thing about our show, we don't go scared.
We don't go scared.
We swing big and we lose big, but we win big, but we don't go scared.
All right.
Over under's 40.
And that's what winning is done.
We was never scared.
Never.
Over under's 43.
I never went down.
What did he say?
Jake Lamata.
I never went down, Ray.
I never went down.
All right.
Bone Knicks to throw one.
Yeah?
I mean, how do you not love that name?
Bo Nix to throw one
On the 3.5.
Ooh, see that's where you're
Hey, suck our dicks.
We're betting on Bo Nix.
You know, that's where I get scared, Andrew.
Anytime you guys start throwing on under a half, that's one.
I'm not good with those, but I mean, it feels like it'll be an under game, if anything.
That's what I'm saying.
Two very good defenses, especially Denver.
I'm in a very agreeable mood.
I'll take the Broncos.
I'll take the under.
And Bo Nicks to throw one.
All right.
There you go.
That sounds like a week one.
That sounds like a week one win.
I think that sounds like a weak pick.
I was like, Jesus, Paul.
All right.
Yeah, let's do it.
There you guys have it.
If there's any sponsors out there, phone calls are open.
The phone lines are open.
Paul.
Well, would we have talked, joked around about beating the shit out of people in a fucking elevator for 10 minutes?
There's a freedom to no advertising.
There is.
There is.
And it's our show, which is great.
There you guys go, man.
Those are our picks, week one.
Hey, Paul, we don't do this for the money.
No.
We're degenerates.
Guys, check me out in Boston.
Check me out in Boston tomorrow night with Joe Bartnick and Will Noonan.
Laugh, Boston.
Get your tickets.
Listen, I'm not going to lie.
Tickets are, I'm talking everybody across.
the board. Get those tickets, will you?
Doing radio
again. Buckhead keeps taking a
briefcase full of money for himself.
I need some tickets sold out
in Boston. Come on, Bean Town. I think you guys
are going to have a good season, all right? I said
the Red Sox always come back.
There you go. We don't have any range.
Laugh Boston? Where are you at?
Laugh Boston. Laugh Boston at the Weston.
Right in the water.
Laughston at the Western. Who did they
buy? You know, they bought those Howard Johnson?
they're the ones who bought them.
Oh, did they?
Lodges? Yeah.
It's actually a nice hotel.
It's right on the water.
Okay, it's a nice little spot.
I'm running my new hour.
It's going to be a lot of fun.
And listen, anytime Joe Barton comes into the picture,
he's like, Thursday, we're going to have a blast.
Oh, yeah, no, it's going to be great.
It's going to be good.
Get your rest, Paul.
I know.
He goes, you're coming in Wednesday night?
I'm like, I don't think so.
If I go on Wednesday night, it's going to be a rough.
I got to be on the radio tomorrow.
I'm going to be on the news tomorrow.
I'm going to be on Boston TV tomorrow.
Say what you want about Joe Bartnick.
That man shows up ready to play.
Paul, what are you going to be on?
Boston TV.
What's that?
What's that?
You said Boston TV.
More specifically, what are you going to be on?
I'm doing the T.
I'm not doing radio.
I'm doing Boston news like morning TV I'm doing tomorrow.
But Bill is right.
If you're a coach and Joe Bartnick is on your team, you're getting all of him.
You're getting all of Joe Bartnick.
That's a guarantee.
Let's just say the guy leaves it on the field, okay?
Right, Bill?
I mean, that guy, he doesn't leave anything left over.
They fill in A for effort before the evening even begins.
I just told that story.
And I got us to say, we might have told on here before it's a short one.
We were at a bar, and the bar was pretty much empty.
And it was me and Bill and a few other people.
And there's a band on stage.
And Joe just didn't like the vibe of the band.
I don't know.
They were probably playing some Springsteen.
So he didn't like the vibe.
So he just walks over and he just goes, he's getting one of these.
And the lead singers in the middle of a sign, he's kind of just turning.
And he's looking around at his band.
No, dude, he sold it.
He sold it so hard.
He walked up.
He had his eyebrows up, and he made icons.
He's looking over, like, because we were a race thing,
we were looking over the people's head,
and he made eye contact, and he had on his sport coat.
It's my bachelor party.
Yes.
He had on his sport coat.
We were in this club, and he didn't like the band.
So he walks over, it goes like that.
He made eye contact with him.
He goes, gave him the rapid upside, and the guy's on the mic.
Cut it.
No, no, he goes, this is what happened.
He goes, oh, I guess, I thought we had a couple more songs.
I guess we got it, blah, blah, blah.
But then the bartender was going like, no, no, you're good, you're good, keep playing.
Then he was, like, totally confused.
He's like, all right.
But, like, in his head, he's like, who's that guy that told me to wrap it up?
And they did.
That was it.
They finished.
That was it.
No, no, the bartender saved him.
I thought he wrapped him.
I know.
I wish he did, but he did.
That was such a funny fucking night.
I'm not going to name any names.
But, like, there's this one guy, dude, like, if something can fucking go wrong, it's going to go wrong.
So at the end of the night, we're on the roof of this building.
And we're in L.A.
And it is just dry as a bone.
It hasn't rained in like fucking six months.
And there's one little puddle of moisture.
I hand him a Cuban cigar.
He lights it.
He fucking drops it.
And it rolled because it was the drain area.
You know, it all goes like that.
It just rolled.
And it got all wet.
And he goes, oh, God all wet.
And then he looks.
to me, he goes, do you have any more?
I was just like, no.
It was his roof.
Oh, dude. It was his roof.
Yeah, we were just fucking Bartnick was there.
We were just dying.
Fucking dying.
Oh, man.
I can't, yeah, he's a fun one.
We're going to have fun in Boston tomorrow night.
Hope to see you guys.
Guys, that's the show.
That's week one.
We will be back next week.
I guess we got to say, Go Broncos.
Monday night special. Let's get it. See you guys next week.
