Thanks for coming back. More with Cynthia Nixon, our favorite guest. And we are going to recap I Heart New York, which is a really tremendous episode. We're going to go through it with Cynthia and talk about her memories and Miranda giving birth and all the fun things. I think that I thought about watching this, you know, yes, big is obviously big and whatever. And there's like so much good and bad, right? Right. But when he drops some of the swagger, she's most swagger, right?

Like when they go out in the horse-strung carriage that she gets for him because she's trying to show him the glorious night before he leaves and then she gets the call from you. And the guys like, I can't leave the park with the horse, which I just want to be on record. The horses should not be in the park anymore. Okay. They just decided.

Thank God because of the horrible. Oh, thank God in heaven. I'm so glad. But can I just also say one thing? Because I was watching it. Yeah. She's being drawn. I'm having the baby at Mount Sinai.

She's being dropped at 9th and 5th. He wouldn't have to leave the park. No way. Right? Well, I guess, yeah. He wouldn't have to. But then big, such a whatever. He wants to go to his apartment.

He was a park cabin. I know, I know. That did make me laugh. That did make me laugh. I do remember seeing the horse-drawn carriages on the street, though. Do you remember this? Like back. Back.

Well, I mean, they're always on 15th. Right. No, where they wait? 57th Street. Right, by the plaza? Yeah. Right, but that's where they wait. That's like their area.

Right. I remember seeing them on the street with the cars. I don't know. Back in the day. I don't know. And I think that was the why they were thinking of it. Do you know what I mean? Because I remember thinking like, God, those poor horses.

You don't know what I mean? I think it's just a Cinderella thing. It's totally a Cinderella thing. And it's beautiful. It's beautiful. And doesn't she eventually also take Petrovsky? Isn't there like a snow version of it? There is.

But it's almost. It's, but it's not horses. No? It's some kind of a sleigh. It's a sleigh, so it must be horses. It must be horses. I think it's the winter version. But it's something that doesn't exist in real life.

Oh. Okay. We'll see what happens when we get there. It's something that doesn't exist in real life? Yeah, it doesn't exist because it's a sleigh and it's going on the snow. and it's like I think it's supposed to almost be metaphorical It's like Russia

It's like Zivago We have a Zavago fantasy As well as a breakfast Tiffany's fantasy in our world It's like Europe and Petrovsky And Russia But they're not actually in Okay we're going to have to wait until we get there

I'm sure that my listeners will know And they will tell me in the comments If we put this on the social media Because they know everything And I don't remember but I just remember that they're in a carriage at some point. And very Javago looking. It's a sleigh.

They're in a sleigh slash carriage, whatever. Something that I assumed was in the park with the horses. I don't know. We'll find out. We'll find out. We're going to find out if it's a real thing or not a real thing, which I love. Okay, wait, what other crazy random questions do we have piled up for you? The woman who delivers Miranda's baby.

Do you remember this? Yeah. I mean, no, I don't remember our story, but I know she's a real. I wish I could remember her name. She's a real doctor. Really? She's a real OBGYN. We got a real doctor?

Yes. Because this woman is a very beloved OBGYN. Aw. Who happened to be Betty Ann Fishman, our first AD's gynaecologist. Oh my God. And she insisted that we used this woman. She was great. Yeah, she was great.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, lent an air of reality to the whole thing. Absolutely. What do you remember? I remember about the birthing scene. Did you, were you happy with it? I remember, I was pretty happy. I mean, those things are always hard, particularly when they're so abbreviated.

Yes. I remember, because I had, of course, given birth already at this point. And I remember a lot of my focus was literally pushing. And so you can see I'm so red in the face. You're right, red. I was so impressed. Right, because I spent a lot of time. in the pushing part, literally pushing as hard as I could.

I thought it was very realistic. I loved that. It was pretty good. It could not have been makeup. And I, you know, one of the things that I loved was, and it was partly of my own experience, because I remember when Sam was put in my arms, I mean, it was amazing, but it was so shocking. Yeah. It was just so shocking.

Yes. And also because Miranda has been so ambivalent about being a mother. I love that it's not like joy or tears, right? It's like kind of shocked. Yeah, I love how you pick your hand up, like almost like an alien. And because, right, because the baby is, and Miranda's like trying to figure out how to interface with this creature.

And like, so the creature puts up its arm, so she sort of puts up her arm. It's really cute. It's really, really good. And so different than the kind of cliche version of it, which is excellent. Yes, excellent. I thought it was really, really good. And I love that she's there with you. I bought it.

Yeah, you know, my friend Jozine was there with me when my first two kids were born. Yeah. It's great having a friend. It's great having a friend there. It was cute. And it was cute that he's down there because it's the opposite of also the cliche that the guy doesn't want to be down there, blah, blah, blah. He's like, no, I'm going to do all of it, you know, which is great.

And I love everybody, Kerry in particular, but I love people understanding that Miranda's emotions and her receiving of this seminal, maternal moment have to be tempered and have to be controlled. Yeah, it's good. It's really, really, really good. I don't remember what I thought at the time, but I thought it was really good. And also, I forgot that I was out there. And also, I love Samantha comes in that wig. I forgot all about that. And she has the beauty mark?

Yes. Which I guess is just Raquel Welsh have a beauty mark? I don't know. I vaguely remember this. She looks so great. Well, she looks great always in all of those wigs. They put her in after the cancer and everything. Yeah.

She can pull the wig off. Fantastic. And it does. You do believe like he might not recognize her. Oh yeah. You know for a moment. Because it really shifts her whole. It really shifts.

Yes. Yeah, absolutely. And the glasses, it's a very, she's so like, a 1940s movie star. Right. You know, she looks fantastic. Right. But it's also funny because in my mind, I would never have put the wig in the, like, it's also

like the moment where they go up and to the shoes when Carrie's trying to get the perfect outfit for the final dinner with Big. And she sees the shoes and she says, hello, lover. Right. I thought that was way back like in season two or whatever. Right. It's interesting that we're still able to kind of do the kind of like funny, frothy things within all this drama that they've.

created with the writing. Right. You know? Right. It's kind of amazing. Right. Like you're having a baby and she's running around in a wig, a Raquel Welch wig, you know, trying to catch Richard cheating, which she does.

I mean, it's a very, it's brave writing. Right. You know, like to juxtapose all the things at once. Right. But they seem real. Like even when she's got the wig on and she's hiding and she's kind of comically doing it, It's still, you believe it. Right.

You know? Yeah. Like, it's such a departure for her also. Yeah. You know, for Samantha. Yeah. You're doing that. It's interesting.

Yeah. I can't stand him, though, at this point, frankly. Mr. Wright? Yes. Richard Wright. Yes. Yes. And I don't remember, like, did we plan to keep him around so long?

I don't know. And then they get back together. They do. They get back together. What? I didn't remember any of this. Yeah. Well, I think, again, every.

Every one of us has to have our man who is our undoing in good ways and bad. A departure also for her. And so, right? Right. Yeah, absolutely. I just didn't remember that it was such a long thing. And in the beginning, he was so, he matched her, you know, and it was, I liked it, right, the vibe that, like, she finally found somebody who kind of matched her, you know, energy and confidence, worldliness, all of it.

But after a while, I'm like, oh, Lord, oh, Lord. But, I mean, it gives her a lot of different things to do, which is nice for change. And it's so great that he's going down on that woman as opposed to just having sex with her. Do you know what I mean? I did not think it was great, but I know what you're saying. I think it's a very good choice. You do? I think it makes it worse.

Worse. I think it makes it worse. Okay. I know what you're saying. Like if she was going down on him, Samantha could dismiss it. If they were having sex. Do you know what I mean? Oh, totally.

Right? Yes. If they were having said, whatever, but it's like, right? No, that's a good point. It's also, you know, then I have to do that crazy thing that lives on. I never want to see that meme again. But you know, when she finds them, I mean, the thing that I remember so well that hasn't happened yet is when she starts posting those things. Oh, it's great.

I had forgotten. And I immediately went there. Yeah. And she lets the papers go. It's beautiful. And the cop tries to stop her. Kendra Wilson. Wow.

Yes, you're right. Isn't she incredible? Yes. And then she explains what happened and the woman is like, all right, ma'am. Go ahead. Go back your wedding. It's so great. It's so great.

I'd forgotten all of that too, and I really loved rewatching it. It was really good. It's so good to see so many actors that we were able to put in in the tiny roles. You know what I mean? I think he must have been like in the throes of the, yeah, something. I don't know. Or maybe he really wanted her to direct and that was the only thing that fit in her schedule or something. Totally, but I think she did a great job. Yeah.

Yeah. And she was just so easy. I think we don't remember her because she was so easy. Right. Do you mean? Yeah. Like I remember her, but I mean, I don't remember her being there with this. Right.

I think Michael's also, if he's present, he's so present. Right. You know, he takes up to space in a way or whatever. Wait, let's see what else. What else? What else overall? I mean, there's just really so many. Carrie's like, it's interesting the whole, like there's so many things that live on from this episode, right?

Like, hello lover. You can't leave New York. You're the Chrysler building. Well, if you're tired, you take a nap. You don't move to Napa. I totally forgotten all these things, though they're all memes. It's so funny that things have. a life in such a different way. And it makes me so curious, like, would he have called her? He wouldn't have

called her. I don't think he would have called her because he says, hey, goodbyes. I think he would have left and been like, I'll send you a plane ticket. That's much more his five. And I think he's trying to get away. I think he's totally trying to get away. I totally think he's trying to get away. I also think if you think about his perspective, which we don't really need to, but, you know, he was married. It didn't work out. He has an affair with her. But then also, she's been running around with Aiden. He dates the movie star who he can't call. Like, His life's not going how he picture. It's not going great.

It's not going great. And he kind of alludes gently to that, but we'd ever really see Biggs' whole perspective, which is fine. Because normally that's the perspective we'd be living in. But I love her lengthy voiceover where she talks about. She says, maybe our mistakes are what make our fate. Oh, I love that. So good, right?

Without them, what would shape our lives? Perhaps if we never veered off course, we wouldn't fall in love or have babies. or be who we are. After all, seasons change. So do others. So do cities. Oh, seasons change. So do cities. This is what you change because of 9-11. People come into your life and people go. But it's comforting to know that the ones you love are always in your heart. And if you're very lucky, that's so good, isn't it? Yeah, it's beautiful. So good that we can sit here 25 years later. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Michael Patrick. so, so good.

Yeah. You know? Yeah. And then there's a black card comes up. And then it says, dedicated to our city. New York. Then now it's so good. I know.

I know. Do you remember the pressure that we felt to like get out there and be on the streets and, you know, be back back at it? New York is still here and New York is still, yeah. Remember that? And I remember at one point we thought there's this picture of, Willie and Sarah, that somehow in our minds we've never been able to figure out what it was. And I thought that someone had told me at some point that they had gone out and pretend to

film a scene that was never shown. Really? And Michael Patrick told me, because I was like, Michael, explain this picture to me. That was from the movie and got cut. So it's just a picture that floats around in the world that no one knows what it is because the scene never aired. And what Michael said was I never cut Willie. So I remember the one scene that I ever cut Willie.

which was from the movie. Oh, wow, I love that. I know me too. But it's such a great picture. They're in the village somewhere. They look amazing. That I had thought, well, maybe they did do that. Because I do remember this pressure of like, we need you guys to be functioning.

On the street. Filming. Right. Like it's, open for business. Yes. And we've got to kind of get ourselves together, you know, after the whole, you know, it had been kind of a long, a long time of recovery, it seemed like. Though I think we went back.

you know, what, in February, right? Right. Because that's the other thing I think when I'm watching the next, the freezing cold and you're in the rain. And remember they make you wait in the rain when Amir is coming. You're like, I'm waiting in the rain. And I'm like, it's February and she's freezing. You know what I mean?

But, of course, they don't know that. Anyway, it's also good. Okay, so wait, then, wait, this is when I go to MoMA. I'm at MoMA. Yes. I had forgotten that this is when that is. I love that guy. Oh, my God.

I love that guy so much. He's so great. And I was so sad about that he had to do the ending that he did. Because I didn't remember him. It is funny, but I didn't remember it at all. I just remember Moma. I remember being so thrilled. I remember really rehearsing my talk, which you can really tell that Kristen really rehearsed her talk so that Charlotte would be good at her talk about the art. And I remember being so nervous to be there because it was a really big deal that they let me actually be there in front of the Pollock. You know, and everything, it's like so amazing. But I'd fully forgotten. the train and Bunny show up. I'm like, what, what?

And shit all over the Impressionists. Exactly, which is insane. But also, apparently, this is the last time that they're seen in the show. But I remember him, not Bunny, but him coming at that fake pool party scene where Harry has the hair on his back. Right.

And you think they got cut from? I do think that, yeah, he got cut from. And I need to ask Kyle about that because I remember him being there in a pink shirt. And it was sad. It was sad for Charlotte. and like a torn thing. And was she embarrassed to be with Harry?

I think she hadn't embraced him yet. I think she was torn. You know what I mean? Like on the one hand, I think she was really. Well, it's a little also he's your divorce attorney. Totally. Yeah. Which she didn't seem to really care about, which is interesting.

Right. Right. But I think it's also like the juxtaposition is so extreme by that point. Like with the Harry back and everything, Harry's Harry and blah, blah, blah. And then tray's so perfect, you know. But tray's so empty. for her at that point, right? And Harry's really vivid and, you know, taking over. Right. Right. But I do remember he was like across the pool and he's leaving and I remember being sad. Maybe I was sad. Maybe

Charlotte was sad. Maybe both of us were sad. I don't know. Right. But then it was, I think it wasn't a button enough for Michael. I would have to ask Michael what happened with that. But I think he wanted it to be more of a like a button and it wasn't, I don't think what he wanted. I don't know. I have to But that was interesting. But apparently this is the last time you're going to see Trey. He walks through the museum with Bunny. Sad. But yeah, I really like that guy. And I know it makes her Charlotte sad and makes her need to move on. But I would just if I was, I mean, I'm sure I would be sad too. But if I was Charlotte, I would be like those people laughing at the impressionist. Thank God I got away from them. Totally. I mean, she does go and take the guy up on his date. So I do think that's what she's thinking.

Although it feels like I have to make myself take this guy up on his... That's true. That's true, absolutely. But I mean, why would... I mean, she hates Bunny, really. You know what I'm saying? Like, Bunny is horrible. Bunny is the problem with the whole...

But that he's just like her. You know what I mean? He's so under her sway. He's chosen her. He's never getting away from her. Right. You know what I mean? Arm in arm.

Yeah. It's so ick. But you love Franny so much. That it's hard to be totally icked out. But I did really... like him. And I thought when he first shows up at the tour, I thought, well, I don't remember this guy. Like, this is a, this is an option. You know what I mean? But obviously, no, because this is what I was wondering. When you watch that, and so basically this handsome guy's on the tour that Charlotte's doing

at MoMA, he's been there before. She goes, oh, you're familiar. He goes, yes, I've been here before. And then he says, I'm trying to, you know, get up the courage. Get up the courage to ask you out. And she says no. Then she sees Trey and Bunny. She's like, yes, let's go to dinner. They go to dinner, everything's going great, because he's also been divorced. They have a similar experience. Right. And he says something to the effect of my wife and I didn't have the same values or something, right?

The same background values, something like that. Culture. Right. But then what's interesting is that then when they go to her apartment, he's like, wow, this is so big. I live in the studio. Like, I thought, oh, Charlotte's having that moment of like, oh, we don't have the same background.

I think it is. Right. I think it is. I wasn't dreaming that. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's good. It's so good. It is good.

Because he can't be quiet about it. But she fought hard for that apartment. I guess she's still fighting. It's not done yet, right? Right. Right. But like it's a big deal for her to have that apartment and she's not going to be shamed about it or feel uncomfortable about it or whatever. Right.

Or just there's no future if he's so. Right. You can't get over it or whatever. Right. Totally. Totally. It's interesting. I like that.

And it was so quick. They did it so quick. Right. But it's very effective. And definitive. It's like, yep. Super definitive. And then she does the tour guide thing, which is so funny.

So funny. So funny. It's so good. I know. I love that. I love that. I love it. All right, Samantha.

Mm-mm-mm. Gotta go through some Samantha and Richard stuff. She gives them this art with the three hearts. I didn't remember any of this. It is such a terrible piece of art. Thank you for saying it because I was like, who thought that was a good idea? Well, I think it's a great idea when it gets smashed. Totally.

That's very effective. And also that he doesn't want to hang it in the room that she wants to hang it. You're like, because it's bad. Okay, Samantha, that's bad art. Right. But I think we're not supposed to, I don't know. I mean, I think what we're supposed to, because obviously our producers and everyone involved in creating that, understands it's really ugly.

They must, right? They understand that's all I could think about. I think the idea of it being so terrible is that. that Samantha has so little experience being romantic, that she's doing it on like a kindergarten level. Like it has hearts. That means I love you. That's adorable.

Right. That's so funny. Yeah, because she does not, this is not her area. But it's so horrible. It's so bad. It's so bad. It's so ugly. It's so ugly and sad.

And he's supposed to be so worldly. And he's just trying to sit there. I mean, I was kind of on his side in that moment of like, and she's like, hey, hang it right there. And he's like, and they do that weird shot where he hugs her and you can see his face. He's like, ooh. Yeah, but he's not, he doesn't totally go, uh, he just hints in it. He says it's going in the den.

Exactly. Right. Which is really entertaining. But then, of course, it doesn't end up going anywhere because he is, in fact, lying. And she catches him with her wig, which is all so incredibly enjoyable. The wig part, I feel like that could be. be a whole, you know, separate Samantha. And I love how they mention something about, you know, she, they make a reference, they

explain how she got upstairs. Like she snuck in. Oh, yeah, yeah. She's breaking an entering. Breaking an entering. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Right. Like, they don't, they don't just make it like magic that she.

to go from California to Hawaii. My first thought is, like, what's up with the snacks? Like, what are we eating? The highlights, the rivalries, the breakout stars, the moments that take over your entire timeline. in the conversations that start during the game and somehow keep going all week. Every week, we're breaking down the biggest stories

It's also like there's so many things and this came up when we were doing and just like that. There's so many times when people just walk up to Carrie's door, even though she has the buzzer.

Right. But I know Michael Patrick was always like, we don't have time in the show to show her. Right. But I was glad they, in the narration, at least, they did some in the narration to acknowledge that she somehow magically in Richard's apartment, which on the upstairs or whatever. Yeah, I like that a lot.

Okay, wait, let's go back to you because I don't know the way. We've really covered all of the things. Isn't it funny that after you have Brady, the voiceover says, and just like that, life comes in and things begin to change. But also previously, we say it all the time. Well, I guess he knows that. I guess he does. Because I remember when they said that was the title of our show when we came back.

I was like, what? I know. I know. I tried to come up with alternate titles, but I didn't have any luck. That's adorable. It's hard to come up with a title. Yeah. It's really hard.

and I have grown to love it. Yeah, I do too. But it took time. Yes. But now when I rewatch, we say it all the time. I'd say almost like maybe every third episode or something. Like at one point, it's so much that I'm just like, there and there and there and there.

But here's the most significant time that I love so much because it is. And I love that thing about it. It's like there's a giraffe in the room. I love it so much. So unexpected. Yes. You know? Yes.

So beautifully done. I mean, at the time were you. Did you feel like, yes, we've done a beautiful job? I think so. I can't remember, really. Yeah, me neither, but I think it is fantastic. Right. I feel like when this episode aired.

I remember feeling a little strange that they hand or that Steve hands carry the baby. I did think that was odd too. But I didn't feel it that this time. Got it, got it, got it. I felt like Miranda's overwhelmed. Right. And she has to have the baby brought right to her. Right, right, right, right.

And also she had said to Carrie, like, you're my buffer, you're my, you know, whatever. And that makes sense. And I love that Steve went to where they take the baby first to check on everything. That seemed very real. Yeah, yeah, the whatever tray. Warming tray. Warming tray, very good, very good. I thought that seemed very realistic.

You know what I mean? He's on baby and carries on Miranda. Right. They've each got their responsibility. Right. And that is pretty much what you said you wanted. Yes. Right.

So I liked that part of it. But I also thought, I mean, it's super, the thing that I liked about it was kind of like, because you make all these references coming up with the baptism that carries not maternal, which is so funny, right, because Sarah Jessica is so maternal. When I watch it, I feel so much the collective, like baby thing. Right. You know? Right.

And I think I felt it at the time from you guys. You know what I mean? Not necessarily from myself. Right. And then we've got it in the plot. And I'm curious to ask, I'm so curious to ask Cindy if that was intentional, like an idea that they thought, well, we want to do this idea or that they were feeling that. Right. I'm curious.

Right. I feel it seeping in. And I don't know if it's because of you guys, right, in life. But I feel it. And like when they put the baby in Sarah's hands, I feel that like feminine urge to have a baby is so. presence. Do you know? Yeah. I don't know if that's just because I know what was going on in life or whatever.

Do you, do you mean? But I love it. I think it's so real. And when you eventually have your water break because you're yelling it big? Mm-hmm. In the movie. Where does that happen? At a restaurant.

At a restaurant. Yeah. Inside the restaurant? I'm in the restaurant. I'm all pregnant. I've gone shopping. And you chase him out. No, I leave.

I run. I see him at the restaurant. And I'm like, oh, I've got to go, I've got to go. I'm really upset because, like, he has. I think he's abandoned her. No, it's the first, it's after the... He's abandoned her at the altar. Right.

So, of course, I can never speak to him again. But that was the first scene I shot of the movie. And then you catch him or he catches you? He catches me and I'm yelling at him and I curse the day you were born. And my water breaks. Right, right, right, right, right. But not exactly on his feet, but almost. Right.

It's kind of an interesting... Right. Yeah, it's kind of an interesting thing. They're so blended in my mind. I agree. they're blended in my mind also, and it's hard for me to remember the actual order of things because that was the first scene I filmed in the movie, which I thought was weird because I thought it was supposed to be a secret that I was pregnant or whatever. I was like out on the street

and there was like 200 people, do you know what I mean? And, you know, I had to shout at him and I thought we were giving away so much, right? Right, right, right, right. I was really stressed. But, you know, Michael does what Michael does. You know what I mean? And it all worked out. It all worked out. People didn't really know, the whole thing. And you know, it's fun. It's funny because, you know, Carrie slash Sarah are so fastidious, you know, that I understood when I watched this episode like, oh, she's going to throw those shoes out. She doesn't. She doesn't? Oh, good.

She wears them. She wears them later. She gets them dry clean. She drives them or something somehow. But, yeah, it is kind of surprising. She wears them in another episode later? I don't know if she does. I feel like we see them somewhere.

She still got them on. Right. But, I mean, I think we see them in her closet. later. Okay, good. Like, I remember those shoes are quite, you know, up there on the podium of carry shoes. Sure, of course. For obvious reasons.

They're also beautiful. Wait, here we are. What did you think about naming him Brady? I think it's great. I do too. I had totally forgotten that you almost named him. What did you almost name him? I almost named him Danny.

Yes, Danny. That was so weird because that was your baby daddy. My ex-his name. But, and I love that he suggests Paul. And it's like, oh. And when Steve eventually has his place on Coney Island, what's that called? Paul's daughter.

Wow, fantastic. It's called Paul's daughter. Because he didn't get to have a daughter. Right. But he's... But I think that just happened to actually be the name of that restaurant. No, you mean Michael Patrick didn't come up with that? I don't think so.

Oh, my God. that's funny and interesting. I think David Eigenberg knew those guys or something. Oh, wow. Paul's daughter. I think that's the actual name of the place. Wow. Love it.

So it's just a weird coincidence. Love it so much. That's great. It was meant to be. It was besheert. I think we, I mean, I think we've covered it. Do you feel like we've covered it? I mean, I didn't go in a very linear fashion, but I feel like we covered so much, right?

I'm trying to think if there's anything else in the episode we should talk about. I mean, I feel like we covered the big stuff. I mean, I have to say, watching the episode again, there are so many high points and so many very funny things and so many very moving things. But I love that coffee shop. You do? I love that coffee shop scene. Wow. Why?

You know, use a condom. Yeah. No, I love, I mean, honestly, I kind of love all the coffee shop scenes, which I know. I know. We didn't ever feel in the moment. So, like, you know, should I sleep with Big one last time? No. No.

No. It's really funny. No. No. No. It's really funny. The thing that I love watching the evolution of the coffee shop scenes is so many different vibes happen, right?

Because I remember the pressure to be, you know, so. Right. So like, let's say season three, it's that. It's like bam, bam, bab, bam, bam, bab, bam. And then now we've settled. It's an interesting settling, right? Like you're in the pocket. I'm over there doing all different things on my face, right?

I mean, Samantha's like in the pot. Like, we're very settled in our roles and there's such a confidence that I see in us. But also so many of those coffee shop scenes, particularly early on, were like debate club. Yes, yes. Now we don't have to. Don't kiss on the first day. Do kiss on the first day. Totally.

Yes. And everybody has to lay out their argument. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Whereas this is not philosophical. Well, it is philosophical, but it's also, it's like, am I going to sleep with big? And people are just right in there with their opinion about a personal matter, which doesn't need a lot of philosophical underpinnings. Totally. It's a big shift.

You're absolutely right. Because I remember for me, my hardest thing back, probably I'd say second season, is that I wouldn't hardly say anything. I would just be like, no or whatever. And then I'd have a speech of why no. And you'd all look at me and roll your eyes. And I would just dread it, you know what I mean? Because first of all, it was like very didactic, right? Like it was like Charlotte's like, like this and this and this and this and this and this.

And I absolutely knew you were all going to disagree, which of course you always disagreed. And you'd all roll your eyes and say like, you know, silly things about my thoughts or whatever. And then I wouldn't say anything else. Like it was hard to integrate. I have to say I always enjoy the not in the Mr. Big Camp stuff from Miranda. I always enjoy it so much. And then when she says, well, you're going to go through, you'll do anything to stop me from sleep at Big one more time, you know, with the baby.

Yeah. And you, because you're having a baby right at that moment. The kiss and the phone rings. It's fantastic. No, I love it too. And I mean, for me, I don't really, the only thing I ever remember was that I always was pro Mr. Big and I always wanted them to get together because that's what Charlotte wanted. And I don't ever remember scrutinizing that. To what I mean.

Right. And now I look at it. I'm like, Charlotte is like so. Pollyanna. whatever, but you know, you gotta love her for it. Yeah, and she just feels, she feels Carrie's feelings. She understands that Carrie is so, that Carrie's feelings about this person are so big. Held.

You like, held. Yes. Yes. It's so true. It's so true. And it's sort of like game over kind of thing. It's so true. It's so true.

But yet we are able to do many seasons somehow still with that thread, which is, it's kind of impressive, I think about. Because if I think about other shows that I try to watch now, I mean, there's no show like ours, obviously, but, you know, it's not an easy thing to hold these tensions. Tensions over time. And I think it's a testament to our writers 100%, but also to the acting, that he can go and do all these crazy things and you can see him and she's with Aden, but he's there still. And you're just like, oh. But yet you understand somehow. And then the connection's still there. And it can reach. Kindle. Like, it's just like life. It's interesting. And it's good that, right, that nobody's the hero, nobody's the villain. Absolutely. Everybody's got their mess, a bit of a mess. Everybody's their mess. And they got their foibles and their blind spots and their selfishnesses or their whatever. Absolutely. And that's why people hate caring now, but I also think it's why there's not characters that you can hold up as being as great as she is. Right. Because they don't allow

lead characters to be this messed up unless you're killing people. They can allow that. Right. And it goes back to this question that they would always ask us, which is, is the show a feminist show? And of course it is. Of course it is. Of course it is. Yeah. Which is what we would always say. Whatever anybody asks us, we would look at them like they were crazy. Yes. But being a feminist show doesn't mean to show that women are like these perfect, virtuous, whatever. That's anti-feminist. That's anti-feminist. Right. Angel in the House. Agreed. Agreed. Agreed. Agreed. Well, Cynthia, my love, thank you for being back. It's very nice.
