There you go. I respect that. I think T. Payne said the same thing. He's like, I'm not, well, if you see me around, I'm not wearing. I'm not walking around with, like, a $70,000 necklace on. That's stupid. Even my boy Anthony Edwards was like, yeah, this is fake, you know, whatever. Go fake.

I'm in. Well, I would get my chain snatch away. If I would jump into the crowd and shit, I've lost a couple. And sometimes when they don't snatch, it's like even worse. Choking and shit out. Yeah. So when I'm crowd surfing, so I'm, I'm, I'm a crowd surfing. And so I was like, all right, so I'm never going to wear like real shit on stage again.

And then even when I do jump in, I'm taking off my fake chain. Taking out your hoops and jumping in. That's fucked up. Your own fans steal your fucking shit. You never know who's out there, man. It could be haters out there. You know. You know.

My dad was... But I'm interested. My dad was crazy. He's dead now, but he was, yeah, I don't know. This could be like a four-hour podcast. He divorced my mom at two or my mom divorced him. Okay, right. When you were two.

Yeah, when I was two, yeah, when they were two. Did I say that? Guy moves quick. Yeah, no, thinking, looking back, he was definitely like undiagnosed, bipolar, extremely violent, high, low, everything. But he was like a preacher. Okay. And then he was also like a nurse.

Strange. Yeah. Yeah. So that's what they did. She was a teacher and he was kind of skipping around doing all types of weird shit. Any brothers or sisters or just you? Yeah, we got a lot of them. So my mom married this other guy.

Like they were pets. Yeah. When people ask me like how many brothers and sisters do you have, I'm like, I don't know, man. Like six or seven or eight. Jesus. Six or seven or eight. Because she married another family, so we were a blended family. So at two, you know, I call them like my step sisters and brothers, but like, motherfucker, like, I've known them since your whole life.

I don't remember meeting them or anything like that. Yeah, so big, blended family over there, and that was fucking crazy. What did you guys live in a house, apartment? Well, when they first met, my mom had one house. We're right on Lindale. My mom had one house, and he had another. We were right next door. No way.

They had a good thing going like that. I don't know how they made that happen, but. Really? They were neighbors. No. They like bought houses together. And this was crazy because my mom was a poverty. You know what I'm saying?

Like this was some early 90 shit. Ain't no way a motherfucker do that now. Like she was going to community college. She had four single mother, four kids. Going to community college, working odd jobs to become a teacher. And like she got a mortgage on a house or something. I'm like, I got an assuride. There ain't no way you could do that now.

No. That would never happen. So when they started dating, he moved his family next door. That's going to go. go. There you go. Yeah. No, I think they moved in together. I think they both like, they ended up there. Yeah. Okay. Okay, so they were dating, living kind of cohabited, but separate houses. And then we all moved in together. Uh-huh. Which house? His or hers? I think he bought it. Nice. And it wasn't, it wasn't a house. It was a triplex,

and it was in a good neighborhood. So a lot of motherfuckers, like, when I'm going to school, if I say I had it brought up to, like, he was, he was raised in, um, what neighborhood was that? Linden Hills. And I'm like, yeah, that was a really good neighborhood, but we were like, we were in a triplex with like one level with like 12 people. Yeah, you know what's your triplex exactly? Like a three. A duplex, triplex.

Three, three units in a building. Ah, gotcha. In a house. So it was a big house with three floors. And, you know, it was cool. I lived with my stepbrother, my brother, and, you know, it wasn't, it was a nice neighborhood, but it was fucking, I lived in a room with him. And then he was old, he was four years older than me.

and they, you know, so they wanted to put a wall up between our room. Because, you know, he's old. I was the youngest of the whole family. You know what I'm saying? I was wild. Sure. And, um. Four year old, wow.

You're doing my thing. Yeah, so, of course, you know, but they put up the wall and the fucking heat was only on his side. What? So I live in Minnesota in the wintertime. In the wintertime, I have a memory, a verifiable memory. I'm sleeping and I had a 40-ounce bottle that was filled up with oil and water as a, we couldn't afford a lava lamp. So I'll just shake that shit and put it down.

Salad dressing next to the bed. Yeah. And that shit shattered and broke in the middle of the night because it was below 32 degrees. Jesus Christ. He's over there. I'm over there sleeping below 30. This is fucking. That's crazy.

So there was 12 years in there? No, I don't. I mean, should I, I'll go through. Rod, my stepdad, my mom. Jenny. That Rod's great. It's a great name. Stepdad.

Rodney, Jenny, Christy, Charity, Sarah, Michaela, Joey, me. And then I have a half-sister, too. Yeah, and so that was all, you know, living on top of each other and shit. What Rod do? What a Rod do? Yeah. Shit, he was a... You heard me, motherfucker.

He was a preacher. What did you? Rodney was a... No, he doesn't like Rodney. I call him that just to fuck with him. But he was a behavior specialist in the hood. in a school. Like he dealt with the, you know.

So he saw me a couple times. Really? Yeah. Like, ah, shit. Here. That's fantastic. You get upset to your stepdad. What did, uh, if any, what did a vacation look like with that family?

Nothing. No. Okay. No vacation. They got married. They were with each other for a long time. Um, they got married in Florida. So that was like our first vacation together.

Whole family went. Yeah. Everybody went down there and it was like a destination thing. That was like one of the first times I was. I was on an airplane. I was like, wow, this is crazy.

And that was the first time I got drunk. I was 15. And it was a big table. Everyone was drinking. And my sisters and brothers were like, hey, finish all these leftover wines. I was like,

yeah, ba, bow, they're looking. I'm like, you know, trying to get attention. Yeah.

And then it caught up to me. That's funny. I love that. That's the worst kind of drunk. Young, just going. Don't know that it hits you. And then there's no,

you can't get it back in there. You're done. The anxiety the next day is brutal. Oh. So. I would have guessed you guys all drove down there. You flew down there. I think we flew.

I think so. I have a really fucked up memory. I've toured for like 20 years. Right. And I've been everywhere and I do meet and greets and I've seen hundreds of thousands of people and different cities and different venues and shit like that. I don't have a memory anymore. We'll do that too.

I mean, we haven't been doing it for 20 years. But I see somebody and go, I don't know where I was, but I've met you before at a meet and greet somewhere. And we've had this exchange before. Especially when they show up in a different city. It's me again. What's my name? I'm like, were you in Texas?

Or what you're doing here? Yeah. I'm like, my, you know, I'm getting a chance. How you can put that together. That's funny. What was the connection to Florida? Was anybody from down there? I think that was the fan-as tropical.

That's fucking whole location. You know what I'm saying? That's awesome. Okay. Growing up, did you drink milk with dinner? Yeah. Yep. Really?

Yeah, what dinner looked like with all you guys? Oh, man. Especially in Powderhorn. I remember, what's that shit where you add the beef in there? and it's just hamburger helper that was like that was that's how you that's how you feed 10 people hamburger helper oh yes stroganoff let's go beef stroganoff who was cooking your mom or rod uh both well actually my memories of most my mom didn't cook for me very these are memories of my dad's when they were split at my dad's place in potterhorn hamburger helper and then uh i mean i remember fucking

one dinner we've had we're so broke we were so broke we had popcorn for dinner. I mean like... Low cal. I look back at it now like, damn. Like my mom was like alone. Like, you know what I'm saying? Four kids.

Here's popcorn sitting around the table. Yeah. Trying to make it work. How long until when your dad left to she got together with Rod? Like that? Yeah, I think, you know, I mean, I think my dad and my mom divorced

probably when I was two and I think she was with Rod at, you know, four, five. Yeah. So your dad was still in the picture. a little bit. Did he get remarried? He did get remarried. Okay.

Yeah. And then he got remarried and then had a baby with my, a new youngest that was like eight years younger than me. Wow. Yeah. I got that, yeah, I got one 16. I got my brother's 16 years younger than me. Damn. There's 21 years younger than my sister.

That's a little, we'll talk about a blended family as well. Dude, my grandma delivered baby. she delivered, she went to the hospital to have a baby. They're like, the grandma's coming to have a baby. My grandma was having, she was having babies when she was a grandma. What? Yeah. So that baby would be your aunt.

Uncle, aunt or uncle. Yeah. Which is younger than. Which is, it would be younger than you. That's not great. That's not great on the AYG Richter scale. My grandma had some, yeah, longevity in that pussy. That's one way to put it.

I thought he was going to go all professional. So did I find something sentimental. Well, you're batting a thousand so far, my friend. I'll tell you that right now. What was the first car you remember having? You, like you personally. For sure. Cutlass Sierra.

There you go. That you remember. I like that. I wasn't talking to my dad at the time because he burned my house down. So he was trying to, like, you know, extending the olive branch and sorts. And I was fucking, I needed that shit. I was angry.

So I was like, man, no, I'm not. putting it off. I was like, damn, I need this car. So he showed up, you know, one cold winter night

and just like had it warm and shit, you know. I didn't know heat in the house. Brand new car? No, no, no. I was, shit, 20,

my first car, you know what I'm saying? So, and it was a, it must have been 15, 20 years old. It was old as fuck. There you go. Yeah.

So, I mean, it was cool, though, like it fit my, I was trying to, you know, I was already kind of like rapper, you know, trying to prove myself shit.

And I was riding up with a cutlass Sierra with the, like, tiny little thin steering wheel and shit. It was cool. Wire wheels? Sorry. Yeah. Whitewales? Wire wheels? Yeah.

The hundred spokes? Nah, no. I don't think it was that fan. Like, it was old. It was beat up. Did you do anything to it? You know what I mean? Did you put a radio in it or anything?

No. No. Subwoofer. No. Okay. Do you have a club? I was never. The club.

Yeah. Did? My dad had the club. Yeah. And one of his cars. He bought a $250 car, and it was like, it had a hole in it, but it lasted for like 10 years. He had a club on that thing, like anybody wanted to steal it. Now, you had mentioned that your dad burned your house down.

Yeah, that's trashy. That's such a trashy move. I've never heard that. I've been doing this shit. We've done a thousand episodes. So low class. Was it an accident? No, no.

Really? Yeah. The house that your mom and Rod lived in? No. His own fucking house. Well, if you're going to burn your house down, you burn your house. Insurance? No.

mental health episode. We had an art. I was getting older. I was 15 when it happened. Right. And I just, he was very controlling, very charismatic,

extremely funny, very smart. He was a preacher. He could win over a room. And then we'd come home and he'd be fucking whooping me up. You know what I'm saying?

Crazy shit. So at that time, 13, 14, I'm like, what the fuck is going on with this guy? Like, and now I'm starting to think like, this is,

he's different, you know? And so I started coming into my own opinions and started slowly becoming I don't think I was a man physically until I was like 36 but you know

started having arguments and standing up for myself and when I was 15 we had an argument and shit I ended up leaving the house and I went to someone else down the block you know a girlfriend of mine and kicked it and then just to cool off

and then I called back like I'm going to get a ride back and it was just a busy signal you know because I know cell phones, you know what I'm saying? And so busy signal, busy signal, like, all right, you know, I might as well go, I got to go back home, you know, whatever. And as I'm going back home, my friend's mom was like drive me off and there's just fucking

ambulances all over the place. And I'm like, oh, you know, at the time I'm like, oh, this is cool. Like people will get shot on my block and I'd be like, damn, what's up? Sweet a house fire. Let's all watch. Yeah, so I'm like, oh. It's your place. Yeah, I'm like, just drop me off down the block.

Like everything was shut down. And I'm like, drop me up down the block. All right, I'll holl, you know, tomorrow, bum, bo. And I'm like, walk in and I'm like, you know. I'm like, now I start running and shit. Oh, shit. Well, I sew up there. There's fire coming out the windows and everything.

And like, I'm like, ah. And there's firemen not, they're not kicking me out. They're not like, stay back. Uh-huh. I went to my front lawn and I'm like, ah, like fucking screaming. And like, I see the, flames coming out the basement windows and shit like that and like you know like I had like a

fucking Vietnam moment like I'm like who's gonna I kind of walked in the middle I don't know why what I was doing there but when did you see your dad after that on that scene like where was would you look over and see your dad stand and watching the fire no well then it was my sister came which that's really sad when she came it was like the most visceral nasty terrible scream ever and she was older they were all older and I'm I'm still kind of reacting to like okay dead animals and who's where's what and you know our dog made it out the window and stuff which was cool but um she she goes like someone's like where's the mother where's the father doing it and she's like where's dad where's

papa you know and I'm like and she's like he did it you know she fucking knew right away and I'm like I'm like yeah and then he was he ran up he was gone for a long time so he did it and split yeah he was disappeared He was missing for a long time. And then they found him in a fucking hotel room in Duluth, like, after a suicide attempt. He's so sorry. Damn, yeah. Yeah.

Super trashy. Super trashy, suicide attempt. Yeah. Holy shit. I respect the move, Burning down the house and then disappearing. That's like, that's, that's some shit you see in a movie. It was like. Yeah, so I got some emo tracks.

Sure. I was processing some stuff for a few years after that, obviously. So you were living there or you would split cut? I was living there. At that time, I was doing joint custody, one week on, one week off. Okay. How close were the houses? Like to your mom and your dad?

My mom's was in a good neighborhood in Lennon Hills, and my dad was in the hood still in Potterhorn. So I don't know, probably. I mean, on the south side there, like, neighborhoods can change really quickly. And it's probably only like 15 minutes away, 20 minutes away. Okay. You lose all your shit in the fire, I assume? Yeah, yeah. Damn.

Speaking of stuff, I mean, like, you know, uh, met guys like you. Were you like a, were you like a butterfly knife guy, a switchblade guy, throwing start? Like, what were, I have a song. I have a song called butterfly knife. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. It was a, it was a.

That is every dirtbag's first wet, like cool weapon is a butterfly knife. Yeah. Yeah, I had one. Yeah. But then I was like, I don't want to, I was like, I have to stab someone with this. I don't think you have to. I don't think that's how hard. So, but with when if the situation that I was getting in.

Yeah. If I took it out, it wasn't like. I see what you're saying. There was, there was, I couldn't show my butterfly knife and pottlehorn. I could go maybe, I could go maybe to another neighborhood with some like white kids. It was a predominantly black neighborhood, very poor people. And I was at the time, like eight, 10 years old. Like I thought I was jumped in, I thought it was a, there was a couple weeks there in the summer where I thought I was a Crip.

This was a, this was a 10? That's an insane sentence. There was a couple of weeks there one summer. I thought I was a Crip. I got some bad information. Well, I mean, just probably young kids, young brothers of real gangsters just trying to emulate what their, what they saw. All their siblings were doing. I got jumped in and everything.

Like, and I'm like, oh, yeah. I remember my dad had me in Boy Scouts to try and do something positive or whatever. I remember going down, Boy Scouts like, man, fuck that. I'm a white Crip now. Like, I got to be the craziest. Shut up and set your tent up, prof. Yeah. Yeah.

So, way. Yeah, so they gave me a knife, and we, you know, we were running around trying to take bikes and shit. And I'm like, damn, I don't want to stab nobody. Yeah, it's like if you do bullet knife trying to steal something, there's a change or problem. The conflict is going to escalate. It was just so active that, you know, that it wasn't like I was going to the suburbs. Hey, check it out. I'm a cool guy with a knife.

That's what I was doing. Just to set the record clear. I was a kid in the suburbs. What a butterfly night. Yeah, so, I don't know. Basically what I was saying, that I had to make, like, a philosophical decision to be, like, funny, like, sharp-witted, like, battle rapper. Got you. I'd make the jokes instead.

That was your defense, man. I was capping on people, too. Like, I did have that knife for, you know, a while. Where'd you keep it? You know, in my pocket and in the house. You know, in my room. It was like I didn't have to hide it. We were wild, man.

How are the grades in school? I can't assume fantastic. Or were you one of those guys that like, I was good enough? to get the season Bs and move on. That's what it was, season Bs move on. But I was doing, I was doing, I was really brutal in high school. I was, class clown behaviorally, like, this, it's me and my best friend, Dary Ushakbari. What a name that is.

Damn. And we did a lot of bad things in school. And, yeah, I threw a fucking kid over a fence one once during a pep rally. Jesus. And he broke his arm. God, damn. It was in front of, like, the whole class. This guy's a different kind of comedy than I like.

It's usually a positive thing. You know what I mean? Supporting the school, not really throwing people over the fence. All right. So this is what we did there. On the south side, South High,

bitch, South High, right on Lake Street. Pep Rally. We skipped class all day. We made a huge roller sign of graffiti. Okay. Of graph.

Like, boom. Like, so it'll be a sophomore, juniors, seniors. They'd spend all this time making their sign to put it up. And we put up our signs and we were on the track of field and we were in the bleachers.

And on the other side is this group of juniors, seniors, freshmen, whatever. I was a sophomore at the time. We had our sign. We put our signs up. Well, it was like such a tribal fucking event, dude, where you run through it. Now it was you had to go to the ops territory and tear their shit up. And I don't know. No teachers were around or anything.

I swear to God, they just set this shit up and just let us fucking war each other. That's crazy. And so it's been, we had our sophomore shit up. And you keep the sign low. You don't put it in the back of the bleachers. You put it right in the front. And then you got your soldiers out here, like, trying to protect your sign. It's like Braveheart.

I know. What the fuck? You're all the same school. Yeah, yeah. Do that to the cross town rival. I haven't told this story on a podcast yet. So this is great. So we'd be protecting our sign.

And I wasn't going out to nobody else's shit, but they were just coming out to us. And we just start fighting people just to try and get them off our sign. So then. Great school event. Yeah. So then there was a lot of people up there. And then the first person, I think it was like a really big, heavy set Native girl.

Like we all, we all. What's a Native girl? Like Native American? Yeah, yeah. Okay, I just never. Yeah, so we all like converged on her and when we like threw her over the fence to the, not like, we like guided her. She was a girl. You're really backpedaled.

Yeah. Yeah. No, it was. We gently placed her on the other side of the fence. Yes, that's, bro, that's exactly what happened. That was the first time that happened. We were like, oh, so if there's 10 of us like, we can get. We can all gang up and do this.

And so they kept coming and then we were like, and we had a, everyone was watching, bro. The whole sophomore class was watching. So, yeah. And I'm like, I'll live for this shit, you know? And everyone had their different colors and stuff. So seniors were black. Then here comes to do, we threw a couple more people over,

a couple more people over. Got to say that. Every time it gets a little bit worse. And so this is the last time we- Thunder Dome. Yeah, the last time we threw someone over, he came out, and we were, boom, we were fit. There was some fistfights and everything. Let's get this motherfucker.

He comes over. He's smaller, but he's dressed in black, and he's got, like, a beard. So we're like, so we think he's a senior. Turns out he's a freshman. You're going to say he was a teacher. That's Mr. Chiminski, you just broke his arm. But so now everybody's starting to get involved. Like, this is really fun.

Like, we've seen it happen before. You know, I was probably me and my husband. me, Dan, we're one of the first people to really, like, get him off the ground. But at one point, once he's up to about shoulder width, there was, I don't know, 10, 15, 20, and it was so easy. All of a sudden it was, everyone was excited about it. A lot of new hands on his boy. And then it was like, oh, it was a hive mentality.

We saw him go up. He did not come down. Oh, he started swimming like this for so long. I swear, it was so long in the air. no exaggeration at least 15 feet in the air like some gymnast shit yeah yeah yeah hoof like god damn damn damn he he he he landed like crack and then everything went silent like the whole and then all you hear is one person it's him and then sounds about right yeah that was my story about throwing a kid that's all that's always like the worst than when you do something and like
