incredibly special guest.
Here with us today for the first time.
He is a very talented,
very successful, genre
bending singer-songwriter.
He is on tour right now.
He has a brand new album, ugly, coming out January 22nd.
And the lead single on that album is out right now called A Perfect Man.
Give it up for truly the one, the only.
Teddy Swims.
How about that?
Look at that.
Let's go.
Some people are just born for this.
Yeah.
You're nailing this, man.
But we first started this show.
He was like, big intro.
I'm like, this seems like a lot.
But it's a...
That's about all I could do.
Everything else in my life is a shattered mess.
Hey, well, you got to get one thing right.
Let's go.
He's got the intro down.
Buddy, thank you so much for coming in.
Thank you for having me.
First off, congratulations on everything.
You're killing it.
You've got the Barclay Center tomorrow.
You're moving and shaking.
We love to see it.
Dude, honored.
It's so honored.
The voice is out of control.
Crazy.
Thank you.
It's out of control.
Unique, powerful, unbelievable.
I've been doing it for about 20 years, so we finally got good.
Finally got good.
I understand that myself.
Give us the origin story.
Now, we're here to this.
determine whether you're trash or not.
Yes.
I'll probably 100%.
Yeah.
I mean, there's.
Yeah.
I mean, dude, you would have to finger nails, tattoos, gold check.
Yeah.
You got to do my hair cut, man.
I'm just white trash, baby.
That's me, baby.
You're a Georgia boy, right?
Yeah, down south.
Give us the backstory.
How'd you grow up?
Man, I grew up in a little town about 30 minutes east of Atlanta called Conyers.
Okay.
You know, I was playing football my whole life.
Let's go.
I was a theater kid through high school.
And, you know, my dear friends who were in my band, we've been playing together since we're a little kids.
No shit.
Yeah, man.
Man, my dog Jesse, he's my guitarist.
Man, I'm known him since I was in the sixth grade.
So we've been, we go way back my basses since I was in fifth grade.
And the rest of the boys, I mean, at least 15 years.
But we, you know, his dad was always playing.
Jesse's dad was always playing.
And I remember the first time I went over at his house in like the eighth grade, his dad played
I'd want a dead or alive by Bon Jovi in his garage, you know?
That's a coming to life moment right now.
And I was like, dude, your dad is the coolest fucking dude I've ever seen in my life.
We got to be this guy.
Let's go.
And for years, you know, his dad was always like, there's my favorite singer,
my favorite guitarist in the world, man.
And he just, you know, inspired us and to get after this, man.
It's choked up right away.
It was so cool, man, because we promised him years ago that when we got to Red Rocks
that we'd have him come up and do that song with us.
And last year, yeah.
Last year we got to bring him up and how well it up.
Hot Rod, bro.
He just got up there.
Hot Rodhampton, man.
Let's go.
That's his name?
Hot Rodhampton.
His name is Rodney.
So, yeah, he goes by.
Love her Rodney.
Love her.
Big Rodney's all right.
My dad's also Rodney, man.
Your dad's name is Rodney?
Yeah.
Me and my best pals, dad's both name.
Rodney.
So it's written in the star.
Your dad's name, Rodney?
Yeah, it's exactly kind of how it went out.
Starts.
Yeah, exactly.
Let's go to Red Rocks.
What did your dad do growing up?
What's your mom and dad do?
My mom does hair.
My dad, he works at this place called PPG, like in a lab painting, like making paints and stuff like that and testing paints.
But he actually retires today's his last day, man.
So, yeah, we're retiring early, man.
He's actually going to be out here at the show tomorrow.
Do you have a little something to do with that?
Yeah, yeah, man, yeah, man.
I get to retire him.
That's awesome.
He's going to spend what he says the next couple weeks on the road chasing girls, man.
So, we're fucking.
Your parents are separated?
Yeah, yeah.
No, they're not.
You're recording this, are you?
Also, the hairstylist, whatever, is not a trashy occupation.
But to say she does hair is the trash.
Yes, way to say she does hair.
My mom does hair.
You know, I went to hair school for, you know, about six months.
I didn't finish.
But I did, I did.
Well, thanks for coming in, Teddy.
We appreciate it.
Yeah, I did.
We got a grand slam on our head, too.
Yeah, bro.
I sure did.
I dropped out, but, um, I did beauty school dropout, right?
You know what I'm saying?
Don't get trashier than that.
Frankie, Frankie Avalon.
Damn, okay.
What was, uh, growing up?
What was the house like?
Was it, uh, single family house, apartment, condo, townhouse?
A little both, you know, my mom was married to a man for a long time.
Um, and, you know, he was, he was a half Mexican man.
So, uh, you know, really like, I was really around a lot of that.
growing up and then but my dad also he had a different wife and their their mother my two little
brothers we have different moms but their mother was really kind of you know in and out of jail and
schizophrenic and bipolar so my dad really kind of raised them and by by himself and I lived with them a lot
growing up and so you were back and forth yeah but I had I kind of both sides of the coin there my dad
really struggled through and we were living in the hood and conures and and you know I mean struggling
for lights and water for a lot of time, you know.
But my mom was always doing all right, but, you know, she's, you know, she's, she's a,
she's a sweet lady, I guess, you know.
So you were back and forth.
All right.
Good stuff.
Well, how far away was, was each other?
Probably 15 minutes.
15 minutes.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So we, you know, I got, I think I got a little bit of both sides of the coin there, you know.
And, and, I mean, I'm grateful, ma'am.
It's a good balance.
That's good, yeah.
Well, it's a grocery store growing up.
You know, Kroger.
Kroger?
We had a good Kroger's, man.
Respectable.
Yeah, you know, we're not, we weren't afford in public.
You know what I'm saying?
The out of these, man, we rip up in outies, you know what I'm saying?
Yeah, of course.
Back in the day, too.
Yeah.
How were you in school?
How were the grades?
Oh, terrible.
Like D.F or like, could get by?
I wouldn't, dude, I, you know, they had passed this law when I was in middle school.
It's a bad way to start a good.
It was that no child left behind.
which is why I made it through seventh grade you know but they basically was like
slogan somebody get teddy yeah yeah but you know it's so funny because um I had I had like
was so behind going into like my senior year of high school that they used to do this thing
called called like alpha omega academy you know it was something you can go pick up your work
and do like eight weeks of like you know pick up work basically you read a chapter and do the
in the back and you do that for like eight weeks
and then they give you the credit.
Okay.
So like I called up a bunch of classes
that I was behind going into senior year
because I was technically still in like 10th grade,
I guess.
And then I got an idea like a wild hair.
I was like, I'm going to just go ahead and like get all my
core classes for my senior year out of the way
and get ahead.
Yeah, you know, and so I did it.
And then I rolled up on my senior year and was like,
you know, I already did all my core classes.
So I'm like, I'm good to go on that.
And my principal,
the time was like you're not coming to school on your senior year just to do theater and I was like
well I've already got the credit so it's kind of what I'm doing I'm just here to do theater and get out of
here and then she was like no I'm not I'm not letting that happen so she like kept me in my core
classes which I just didn't show up to because I had the credit so I like got zeros and a lot of my
so I actually graduated at the lowest of my yeah class because of that because it was just a bunch of zeros
You were actually last last?
Yeah, because I had a bunch of zeros, you know?
I was third from the last.
And I went every day.
I tried.
Who won that fight?
You know what I'm saying?
That's right.
How many kids were in the graduating class?
I want to say, yeah, like 3, 400 or something?
That's good.
It was a lot of folks.
Big school, yeah.
How was the football?
How was the football program?
Dude, we were all right.
You know, I think.
What did you play?
I was a defensive tackle and an offensive guard.
But I stopped playing when I was.
was about a when I was going into my junior year okay I just you know I'm 5-7 and all the other dudes
were growing yeah just kind of like it's not gonna happen yeah so I I just I got once I got
to the theater it just changed my life that was it fell in love with singing that's all right I respect
it chunky or creamy peanut butter uh creamy creamy creamy respectable yeah uh what was a family
vacation like going growing up I'm not not many I mean you know I well I
When I was going with my mom, my stepdad worked a lot out of town.
You know, he built, like built fields and landscaping company.
So we went to places like that, you know, but everywhere he was, but not.
Nothing.
You weren't telling him.
Like, you would just go where he was working.
Yeah, but basically, I mean, he was, he was such a, he was such a like, you know, you got to get it thing.
So most of the time I'd be on those vacations, he was like, you know, well, you're going to have to get up and go to work with me.
And then, you know, at the end of the day, you can make the $100 and you can spend it.
So even though me and my older brother were probably like 11 or 12, you know, just absolutely pulling sod, you know.
Which is like, I mean, dude, that's right there, dude.
It's like, and I'm so grateful for that work.
But, man, that is a Mexican man right there, man.
He's like, you're going to get out here and do this damn work, boy.
Carry and sod at 12 years old.
Yeah, he was kind of wet.
It was like warm.
But, man, yeah, we worked for it for sure.
I love it.
Damn.
All right.
Christmas, what would you guys do?
You guys Christmas family?
Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
Colored lights on a tree, white lights on a tree.
I don't think there was a, you know, like, I couldn't recall if, I don't think it was like a, it's got to be this way.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, just kind of whatever.
I'm leaning colored.
Yeah, from that answer.
How about the house?
Would you guys decorate the house?
Yeah, well, you know, my mom's wood, my dad, I mean, he was kind of like.
Stuff going on.
Yeah, he didn't really have that, you know, the means.
So it was, like I said, I got kind of both sides of the coin there.
For sure.
What was your first car growing up?
Oh, man, I had this, I want to say the first one I got to drive was this Honda Civic.
Okay.
It was, my older brother had gotten an ion Saturn or something.
Saturn, I was in the 10th grade.
I just turned 16, but funny enough, we were both leaving the house headed to school.
And I straight up, not even a mile from the house, we're wearing.
ended him.
And so just totally like, I've totaled his and then, you know,
I ended up having to give him that one.
So I kind of like was shit out of lots of old school trailer.
Until my dad got me, you know, an old beat up.
Like it didn't have AC or heat in it.
But I had this, I want to say it was like a 98 firebird that I had for it.
Really?
It was a piece of shit.
Sure.
Yeah.
It tended to be at times.
But it was bad.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Had the teetops on it.
We were just talking about that.
I used to go pick up my little girlfriend and it would be fucking cold.
You had to dump the water on the windshield to get the ice off and just like, here's a blanket.
We're just in there.
Claw seats in that, I would assume?
Absolutely.
There was, fans submitted a question of when was the last time you were in a convertible or T-tops that had cloth seats?
And I'm like, it was my buddy's firebird.
I was 16.
And I'm like, I can smell that car.
They all felt the same.
Did you go to the prom?
I know.
I did not.
I never went to the prom.
What production did you do in high school?
My last production I got to do was rent with my best pal Jets.
Let's go.
All right.
So I played Roger in that.
He played Mark.
And I mean, I did a bunch of stuff.
I did children of Eden, damn Yankees, crazy for you.
I did much ado about nothing.
Let's go.
I did a bunch of.
That's Shakespeare a little bit.
Yeah.
Not too bad.
Played dogsbury in that bit, which is really cool.
That's awesome.
what like let's say you're out of theater
what's a day what's a weekend day look like
for you and your boys
you know eighth ninth grade
you're waking up are you have a job yet
or you work or you're getting hammered all the time
I was wait till we're breaking out of ice
we're absolutely getting hammered all the time
I was I was selling a bunch of dope at the time
no shit no I didn't know it was like that
yeah bro I was just enough to like for us to like
smoke for free and get a little cash in our pocket
Gotcha.
Nice.
What age at that start?
7th, 6th grade.
And that's like how we can get them.
Yeah.
7th grade.
Yeah, I was kind of selling a little bit then.
We'd go to the ice skating rink and the skating rink around and, you know,
kind of flip a little bag during go skate, you know, just a little wee, nothing crazy.
You know, and I mean, at the time, I remember growing up in, growing up in Tall Oaks, man.
Dude, this guy, my buddy JJ at the time.
his uncle used to like front us like we just like you know go go go go get me if you're always an
uncle yeah it's always some guy's uncle if you basically give me like 80 bucks back for the
oz you know then you guys keep the rest right and then i mean dude yeah but dude it was it was like
dude it was such a mess though because like you it was straight like stems and seeds
but i'm so 80 dollars yeah like but i mean we're some of the seventh graders you know what i
said as a seventh grader obviously not like god like not as a grove man but he was the one giving
weed seventh graders yeah yeah dude and so he was i remember we had this we had this incredible
idea where i i told my buddy it's like well bro what if we just like kind of drip a little bit of like
a little vanilla extract in the weed you know what i'm saying and we just let it sit there for a
couple days and then we just tell them it's like it's like this vanilla dro man you know what i'm saying
then we can sell this for like ten dollars a gram probably opens it up a little bit yeah yeah yeah
Yeah.
If they were like, this is dope, man, you know.
But it was nothing but a drop of vanilla extract in the bag, you know.
But it's coming in with a splitting headache.
Yeah.
But we got one over.
Let's go.
That's awesome.
What did you saw a quarter for?
25.
But, you know, I mean, like I said, it was, it was absolute.
I got you.
Sure.
Yeah.
It was at Boogie Brown.
My dog.
It was that straight Reggie.
But later on in my career, you know, my short-lived career.
When I was getting in 10th, 11th grade and stuff, I was able to sell, you know, like, nicer.
As soon as it was invaded.
Yeah.
I feel like I feel like the loud kind of came around.
It took some time.
Yeah.
It makes me think now, kids probably are starting to smoke just really good wheat.
Yeah, absolutely.
Like they probably don't start with the $5, you know, like the $10.
You can't even find that.
I'm like, I don't know.
I don't know who has a bag of mid anymore.
I talk to.
Give me a couple minutes.
Yeah.
It's funny.
You can see how.
you are you know you're you're you're all over every genre and all that kind of stuff you see you see it in
you yeah yeah the football theater moving a little weight no penny cries hand-to-hand yeah i like to
see it any pets growing up um i had a i had a little puppy uh my my dog uh lexie i had from my time i
i was like three to 18 and she was a little she was a little dachshin my mom still has like
you know a little statue and her ashes and stuff uh never quite ever get that's
over that you scared me when you said puppy
so the dog lived for 18 years yeah
yeah well I guess 15 years yeah beautiful
you said puppy I was like oh man
this is gonna go bird no no no no no no
no snakes no frogs no turtles
anything weird no man I for
hamsters I for a week once
I had I had a duck which was cool man yeah
you know me and my homies
me and my homies were leaving the pool and they're like
between my house and this
this this neighborhood called
Cedarbrook that was like a little
we had through the woods made a pathway
to get to my buddy's house
and there was a duck there
and it just kind of followed us home
you know?
Full grown or duckling?
Yeah, a whole duck.
And so dude, we kind of picked it up
with my towel and then like I brought it to the house
we went and picked up like got a kitty pool
and filled it up and was like, I'm gonna leave it here, you know?
But then I mean, of course like I went to my dad's for the weekend
and I got home and it was gone and my mom's like, it ran away
and I was like, no, it did not run away.
She's like, but finally I got the truth out.
She was like it was shitting everywhere.
So I was like, you can't have a duck.
You can't have a duck, you know?
So that much I get, my name of that duck?
Sid.
Let's go.
Sid the duck.
That's not bad.
You explain something that's very near and dear to my childhood is a patch of woods or forest that
connects two neighborhoods and that trail that you blaze as like a couple of friends.
That's where you first start drinking some beer.
Absolutely.
That's that section of that ticket of woods is fantastic.
Well, you know, my stepdad at the time, he used to, I mean, he worked out of town all the time,
but he had downstairs in our basement was like, you know, this whole kind of bar set up.
So we would, you know, just take a water bottle and fill it up with all sorts.
Everything.
Yeah.
And then just fill the bottle back up with water.
And I didn't get busted until way later when it when he got home.
He was like, all this is water.
Yeah.
I got caught for, uh, change in the vodka.
They ended up putting it in the freezer at some point and it all turned, it all froze.
And it's not supposed to freeze.
Giveaway.
Damn, they got me.
Tito's ripped you off.
I heard you say we were coming back from the pool.
Did I hear you say that?
Community pool?
Yeah, there was one in a neighborhood called Metabrook.
We used to frequent a bit.
Very nice.
Snack bar?
Not that I remember.
No snack bar.
High dive?
Maybe like a high dive?
Diving board?
Yeah.
They used to do like, you know, there was like kids swimming, you know, like teams or whatever.
Gotcha.
I was never much of a swimmer.
What was your back flip forward flip situation?
I could nail a flip.
Really?
I can do, you know, in my younger days, I could, I could, you know, I went through a phase,
which you could still find on YouTube.
It's so funny.
When I was in the eighth grade, if you look up the greatest trampoline match of all time.
Dude, it's got like 500,000 views on it, right?
Dude, yeah, me and my buddy, Caleb, we went to this, we went all the way to Macon
with these, like, grown-ass men, you know?
And I was gonna be 13 at the time.
And they were like,
they were doing this like backyard wrestling, you know what I mean?
And I mean, we were serious about it.
I thought, like, I thought I was really good at it.
And so it's just all the highlights of this like,
this, this wrestling match we did with these grown ass men.
But they had it like, they were at their mom's stuff,
but they had it where they set out.
They had like little green sheets, you know,
so they could put their stuff on it and like editing and we're coming out.
Like, you're doing the whole bit, man.
Yeah, yeah.
Dude, it was, it was so cool, man.
That's, dude, there's so many times where,
Where were our parents?
We were like, yeah, it's just hanging out with a grown-ass man.
You know what I mean?
Dude, we're wrestling with these guys.
Yeah.
That was kind of them, though.
We did the same shit.
Just a trampoline at that age.
You're like in the back of your head, like, this is dangerous.
Yeah, look.
Fuck it.
Yeah, I like it.
Yeah, but we're talking about Rocket Money.
Rocket Money.
Let's talk about all the great things you get when you subscribe to Rocket Money.
You know what I'm saying?
You get knowing what's going on.
Uh-huh.

the next week. You have these charges coming up.

Yes.
We love Better Health.
As you know, Kevin and I are both on deep mental health journeys
and they all started with BetterHelp.
You got something going on.
Holidays are coming up.
Things are getting hectic.
You got to work some stuff out.
Just sometimes it's good just to bounce whatever you got going on off of somebody.
When you talk, it gets out of your system, which is funny.
It took me a long time to realize that.
You get it out.
You put it out there in the universe.
You get it out of your plate.
It makes you feel better.
So do yourself in favor.
You got something big going on.
You got something small going on.
I promise you, better help can help.
Yes.
I found a lot of help with talk therapy where if you talk about the little stuff,
it doesn't become big stuff.
Let the release valve out a little bit.
you get a little different perspective, you know, instead of it becoming a big problem,
and then you're dealing with the next thing, you know you're not talking to your family.
If you've been waiting to start therapy, Better Health works with more than 125 health.

Did you guys have a quarry or anything like that?
You would like a natural body of water that you would jump off or jump into or anything like that?
I'm not one for the heights of it, but you know, I mean, I had spent some time.
We had Jackson Lake and I had spent some time there, but we didn't have like near us nowhere near.
Rope swing or anything like that?
Nothing like that.
Okay.
How do you feel about a natural body of water now?
Are you still, are you, do you get in?
Are you still like it?
No, I don't mind a boat, but I don't think that.
the, like, you know, that's for us, you know what I mean?
You're not a swimmer.
No, I'm not going to drown in there.
Like, I can paddle about, but I'm definitely not like, I don't think the ocean is for us.
What are you scared of?
Sharks?
Are you a shark guy?
Just, I don't know.
It's just not my, it's not where my feet are.
It's constantly trying to push it back to the land.
Yeah, it's not for us.
There's things that's not for us.
Yeah, it's just like, we're here, this is our face, and then the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the,
The air is for the birds and the water's very profound.
I like that.
I think this is, we have our domain.
Why do we keep trying to fuck with that?
Why are we trying to fuck with that?
I'm trying to walk in both worlds, man.
Teddy's scared of the water.
I like, yeah.
I'll fuck with it.
I got a bad shark thing, man.
A bad shark thing, man.
Yeah, I could imagine.
I'm worried about them on the street, like the bad.
No, the street sharks.
I remember.
You break any bones growing up?
Any injuries as a kid?
No, not really.
I kind of messed up my fingers, a little cook.
Okay.
and my nose is a little broken
but those weren't like
diagnosed, I just, you know, just football.
So you just tape it back up
and get back out of there, you know what I mean?
But nothing like, nothing serious.
And he fights as a kid.
Yeah, loads.
I was in some fights.
I loved it.
You know, but my thing is I don't like bullies, man, you know?
I agree with that.
It was always, it was always a bully
messing with a friend or something, you know,
and I just don't, I don't.
Messing with a kid small than him,
I just don't fuck with that.
I will always have the fight for a bully.
Like I will, I'm, fuck a bully, man.
That's not okay.
I like it.
That's awesome.
I like it.
Any time, was there any parking lot at any age that you spent a lot of time in?
Could have been a gas station, a 7-Eleven.
If so, what was it?
Absolutely, man.
We had this spot right down the road from my house.
It was called Randis.
It was a Chevron, man.
And, you know, back then, like, they were, we were able to.
And this is no shade on them.
And so I hope that they're, you know, doing okay.
I don't want to get them in trouble because they didn't know at the time.
But, you know, you used to go in there all the time.
And, you know, like my older brother was a couple years older than me.
So by the time he turned 18, I would just go in there and get stuff with him.
So they would just end up selling it to me.
And by the time I was 18, they just stopped ID me.
So they let me buy beers and stuff like that.
I don't think they know.
Yeah, yeah, of course.
So I was able to go in there and get stuff.
And we'd sit there.
And before that, we were, hey, mistering people.
You know what I'm saying?
Oh, that was the war.
He missed her.
Yeah.
If you go and give me some cigarettes.
Hey, Mr.
You get us a 12-packer.
Work nine times out of ten?
MD 2020s, man.
You know what I'm saying?
How are you doing?
Well, you're getting it however we could, man.
Don't need to play right at the game.
That's right.
2020 is generational.
We always did, we would ask the guy.
And at the time, I think Sigs for us in Pennsylvania outside Philly were
275.
That's crazy.
So you would give the guy a $5 bill and go, you would see them if they pull up
and they were smoking, there's like a 90% chance they were.
doing it and you go hey we'll give you five bucks that way you can like almost get yourself a pack as
well and they you know for sure i remember when i first was able to get cigarettes it was a pack of
newports at the time was like five dollars and one cents after or 506 or something like that
is that what you started on newports yeah that's what a lot of people's introduction is well you know
the first cigarettes i would have smoked would been like my mom always smoked at the time it was
Misty menthol ultralights.
Misty?
Misty menthol ultralights.
Yeah, I don't know. Yeah.
They ended up changing them, I think, to Misty Silvers, but the misty menthol
ultra lights.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
You know, and she had the little...
A woman who does hair smokes those cigarettes.
Yeah.
She had the little bedazzled pocket for the bedazzled lighter.
Man, that's old.
Yeah, bro.
Let's go.
All right.
She's got a little pear skin print pants on herself.
You know, you could put my mom in your head already, man.
She's, she's.
That's great.
Who did the cooking at your mom's house?
Mama did, man.
She would, give me, give me one of her standard dishes.
Man, you know, I, to, mom made some fried chicken, man.
She would cook up some grit, some breakfast was great, man, pancakes.
Obviously, you can't, you can't beat some spaghetti, man, you know, just, just.
And she's, she's mean, makes a mean cassero.
I mean, whatever you got in the kitchen.
We got cassero.
Rolls, man. You know, green bean casserole, broccoli casserole. And don't get me started on chowders.
Is you doing chowda?
No, I'm just like, I was like, dang.
Were you a cookout man growing up? The restaurant, the fast food place. Did you guys have cookout in the area?
No, we didn't, we didn't get a cookout in Atlanta until it wasn't until, I don't know, I want to say like 2015 or 15 or something.
It was later. Yeah.
It's crazy.
They're the Carolina.
Yeah, that's where they started at.
Yeah, but it wasn't until recently.
They got one in Atlanta, and that thing, I mean, that thing's jumping all the time.
You enjoy a hush puppy?
You like a hush puppy?
Yeah, like a hush puppy.
Ever owned a big mouth Billy Bass in any of those houses?
Oh, absolutely.
My grandmas, man.
My grandma had one of those, dude.
That damn fish was hilarious.
Dude.
You ever have your picture taken with an exotic animal,
koala reptile or anything like that?
Yeah, I mean, when recently, every time we're in, you know, Australia,
I got to meet like some, what do you call them, like, walabies and kangaroos and, what's it, cockabaros or something.
Is that what they call it, cockabarras?
Cracker barrels?
Cracker barrels.
No, capabaris, capabar?
Capabaras, yeah.
I've met one of those, you know.
But that's famous guy pictures.
Yeah, that's famous guy.
You're in Australia.
That's celebrity stuff.
The minister of tourism is there showing you.
Yeah, but not nothing when I'm.
I was a kid.
Nothing to stay fair with an Amecona around.
Yeah, nothing that cool.
Nothing that cool.
I like it.
This is why, I mean, you know, famous singer, we asked, growing up and even now, I guess
now would be crazy.
Did you have a go-to karaoke song?
You know, I think my thing with karaoke is, especially today.
I love, I'll do karaoke, but nobody wants a good singer.
Yeah, nobody wants you singing karaoke.
You like, you like, follow you.
People go all.
ruin my night if I was doing karaoke.
Yeah, that's what, you don't want a good singer.
He's lip-syncing.
You want somebody up there that they've worked all week.
They want to be fucking terrible and they want to just lean in their performance and have
a blast with a friend.
So my rule of it is if you catch me somewhere and there is karaoke, if somebody's like,
hey, will you sing this with me?
I'll be like, absolutely.
I'll do karaoke with somebody.
Okay.
You know, because I, that, you know, like, man, I love when you sing this song.
Can we do, like, lose control together?
Absolutely.
Fuck yeah, man.
You're up there singing your own song.
kill the one, you know, can we do, you know, journey, don't stop believing together?
Fuck, yeah, we can, man.
Other than that, that's the rule.
I don't want to go up there by myself.
I'm solicited and everybody shut up, I got this.
You know, I think the same rule with, like, singing happy birthday.
I feel like people always ask like, hey, will you call and sing, like, my mom happy birthday?
And it's like, you know, I think in theory that sounds cute, but like, nobody wants somebody like,
happy birthday, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, to you.
A three-minute phone call.
Yeah.
It's like, I get it, but like, happy birthday is a group song, man.
Sure.
It's a great way to put it, man.
It's a great way to put it.
You ever steal a steak knife from a steakhouse?
No, but I mean, I've definitely gotten some butter knives, some chopsticks, some fork, some, you know, some ramekins.
I really, I got into a fit of ramekins for a while.
Especially, especially when you go to, like, the hibachi places, you know what I'm saying?
I'm definitely taking some ramekins from.
Ramekin at a house is a game.
My mind was blown when I realized you could buy them.
You can be like, you know, William Sonoma sells ramekage or something.
I'm like, what?
I can be fancy, you know what I mean?
Dipping.
I like it.
Do you have any superstition about a white lighter?
No, I mean, I definitely grew up with that.
Like, don't use a white lighter, but.
Would you flip a sig and have the lucky one upside down?
Yeah, absolutely.
Did you pack your cigs?
Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
You got to pack them, man.
Sometimes I get two or three.
Three luckies, you know what I'm saying?
You'll flip a couple luckies?
Yeah.
Really?
Yeah.
I like how he answers like, yeah, of course.
Of course, yeah.
Yeah.
And you're off to heaters now?
You're off to Cigs?
Yeah, I haven't, man, I haven't smoked cigarettes.
And I think last time I was, I used to do one after every show.
And finally, my pianist was just like, took it out.
He's like, bro, we're not doing that no more.
I'm like, cool.
What was the brain?
Nobody never said that to me before.
You know, all I needed was somebody like, uh-uh.
And I'm like, okay, great, great.
I'll just, and I think the, the little nicotine pouches really changed everything for me.
Because there was a while where I was, I was dipping and smoking cigarettes too.
You know, not simultaneously at the same time, but, you know, I was, I was pretty,
nicotine had me.
Yeah.
Hey, it still has got me.
I would never give up nicotine.
I think I just will, I don't know.
It's got me.
It's my, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, I don't disagree.
Yeah.
What was, uh, what was, what was the last, uh, uh, what was the last, uh, uh, uh,
of cigarettes you were smoking?
Marlboro lights, probably, or American
spirits, you know? I'll hit
some of those, like the light blue ones or
the yellow ones or something.
American spirit, very celebrity, famous person,
heavy. I respect that.
Also, the dirtbags
who think they're better for you than they're not.
Yeah, there. Yeah, it's no.
Any special pillow or blanket growing up?
Yeah, dude, I had this one
pillow. I even brought it to my first, like,
tour we went on, and
it was like one of these down pillows. I haven't
I haven't seen it in probably five or six years, but you know what was all brown and nasty,
but it was my favorite pillow.
My dad's, I think, originally.
I had it.
I had it for years, man.
I remember you used to gross people out for a bit, but, you know, it's...
Sure.
It's my pillow, though.
I know.
It just has that smell.
That's my pillow.
What were the toys growing up?
What were you into?
Dude, I mean, everything.
I had, you know, all Dragon Ball Z toys.
He's a definitely big W-W-E toy.
Sure.
Who was your, who was your big guy?
Yeah, yeah.
What was your big error?
The rock, man, stone cold, you know, dude, I mean, Goldberg, Diamond Dallas Page, WCW guys, you know.
Booker T.
Yeah, I had everything, bro.
I had everything.
I like it.
I like it.
You ever take an old-time photo?
Is a gangster or is a old west?
No, you know, I've never gotten to do one of those.
He wants to do one.
We should go do one.
He's a dirtbag through and through.
We should go do a.
Man, I'm not you're kidding me.
Is there a way that we could go do one of those?
I'm sure there's one in New York.
I've never gotten to do one of those things.
You go and put the little shit on and do the whole thing.
You got a Tommy gun.
That's even trashy that you never got to do.
And you're like, no, man, I didn't.
I fucking love it.
That's great.
Anyone in your family or even yourself ever appear on the local news but before you got famous?
Like you were like a witness or you got interviewed for something or anybody?
Not that I can think of off the top of my head.
I mean, I'm sure my stepmother had made it a couple times.
She was a, she's got some stories.
I'm sure she's been.
I made it to the newspaper like my,
because that's how my, my grandma found out that I got arrested for selling weed.
And when I was, you know, I missed a whole first week of my senior year in jail because I got busted.
and it was almost an intent to distribute
because it was a couple bags,
but it was me and my friends
just smoking in the road, you know?
And so I was in there for like six days
in Rockdale County jail.
And I mean, it was a blast though.
I had fought.
Not trying to say that you should do it.
A good buddy of mine, Ryan,
was like, happened to be in there for like eight months.
So as soon as I got in there, he was like,
hey, man, just bring your little boat over to my bunk
and we'll like, you know, and we're in the gen population
that was kind of overcrowded.
You got kind of troughed off a little bit.
That's all right.
me to everybody.
It was a bunch of old heads in there.
It was just like, you know, like,
get out of here and don't do that again.
You know, they're all nice guys.
I went to church in there and sang in there with them.
This was senior years.
Yeah.
So it was cool.
I haven't played spades in years, but I learned out.
The cops weren't impressed with your core classes that you had taken care of.
No, that they're, they do.
I guess, too, that's a pretty good tool to have in jail, good voice.
Oh, yeah.
You're probably, that's better than being the funny guy.
That's better than being anything.
You're just going like, hit this.
And like,
Yeah, just wait, we'll just do the little church moment with them, you know what I mean?
And get up and let's go.
It was, it was a box on them.
They taught me how to make the, you know, like the real ramen soup and like, you know,
and you crunch up like the cheesets and hot Cheetos and stuff and like, you know,
kind of put it all in this big brick.
Dude, I still make them that way.
It's crazy.
I love it.
I mean, just obviously being that it was their career, when did the garage band start?
So what was that?
What did the early days of that look like?
Well, we, you know, or whatever.
We were trying to be in bands for forever, you know,
we were always kind of finding our thing and writing.
It wasn't as easy as it is now, you know.
Us being able to find access to recording equipment now is so easy for these kids, you know.
So it was so difficult for us for a long time.
We were trying, I think I finally nailed it.
Right around my senior year, I was in a band called Roak Bear.
And I mean, you could still find the EP on.
on YouTube and it's it's got awful but I was in you know in 2011 um like the
Atlanta hardcore scene was like really something you know it's really popping so I
for years was like just in kind of the local hardcore scene screaming and singing and
in bands and I was just doing that really up until Teddy Swim started I was still in a metal band
so I was still screaming and rapping and doing the whole thing in it so I just whatever I could do to
get heard but I love I love punk music I love hardcore music you know that's that's really the roots of like my
like kind of performing anyway other than you know other than like theater but damn how have you
been as far as managing your money as as a as a as a kid before you had money and then now are you
are you a good not spender yeah I know the value of a dollar you know in a way that that I think I've not
had it for a long, long time.
And, and I mean, even to this day, the first thing I did when I did sign my deal was like,
buy my dad a truck, you know, because it was like, we had been, I spent more time on the side
of the road, you know, not, and broken down.
And I mean, still to this day, I can, if it's an old enough truck, you could just drive
it and I can tell you, oh, man, this is about to go out.
This is about, yeah, this is about to go out.
I know what that sounds like.
I can, you know, so I've spent a lot of time under a hood.
I spent a lot of time on the side of the road.
And so I don't know, I just, I know what it's like not having money.
So I don't, I don't get too frivolous with.
With it.
Gotcha.
That's the question.
What did you do with your first big check?
So you bought you got a truck.
Yeah, man.
Good man.
That's a guy.
This, uh, F-150 lariat he still drives.
Oh, man.
Yeah, dude.
He's, he's like, he's so pumped about it.
Dude, he still keeps that thing spotless.
He's like got that, like, uh, that, you know, membership to the car wash.
He could just keep that thing.
A month, whatever.
proudest thing. It smells like dip, you know, always. So does his life, you know, but, but
tastes the smells like Copenhagen in there, you know, there's always a spit cup, but other than that,
it's spotless. What are you whipping around town and can you say? Yeah, I got, I got a, um, one of those
Broncos, they're like, it's 20, 23 Bronco. I bought it a couple years ago and, and I mean,
that was always like, I'm going to get a Bronco, you know. Living sits, you got an apartment,
you got a house or you're running. I got a house in Tennessee. I bought it right before my son was
born he's 15 months old
congratulations congratulations you got a 15 month old as well oh really
dude what day was he born uh June 6th
when was June 23rd yeah let's go
congrats brother look at that
real close man we ought to get them together
yeah let's do it on a podcast
in a couple years I'd be yaffing it up man
and see you already walking and stuff yeah it's crazy
he's running it's nice I'm right there with you
he's in everything all about ball right now
yeah he's a ball's big yeah
It's so awesome, dude.
Yeah, my wife's sick today, so I've been up at six with, I've been when and then I'm here and I've got to go back and get them from daycare.
That's wonderful, man.
That's awesome.
That's right.
New Dad, too, Kipi, look at.
Look at this.
Man.
Hmm.
Okay.
So the house, but you're on, you're currently on tour, right?
So you're, and we talked before you started.
Tour is on a bus.
Yes, sir.
What?
We've done the bus.
Love the bus.
Big fans of the bus.
Oh, the bus.
What are some of the staples you want to have on your bus?
Snack-wise, drink-wise, food-wise.
These days, you know, I'm trying to keep it to where I'm like,
meet my macros and keep it healthy.
So, like, I've, like, you know, I used to be a lot of tequila and beer.
And I've slowed down a lot on that, a lot of just bullshit.
But these days, it's like I've got some boiled eggs in there, you know, got some,
dude, I just bought this.
My buddy turned me on this.
And it's like, it's called Safecatch.
And it's like this tuna.
It's, it's, it's like, it's like 40 grams or 24 grams of protein in like 100 calories.
And it's 25 times under the FDA approved limit of, of mercury.
So it's like a lowest on the market.
Okay.
So I can put like a couple of those in, get almost 50 grams of protein for a couple hundred.
And then I got this like high protein like low fat, Greek yogurt and then some like sugar-free relish.
And I'm talking about, dude, just a couple hundred.
calories and I'm eating fucking tuna salad like a fat boy.
Teddy's getting like,
I'm getting like 60 grams of protein.
What is he?
Oh,
macros, but also he's locked into a fat kid again?
Yeah, it's great.
It's great.
There's a ways to do this where you can still eat like a fat boy, but do it in the right
stuff.
It just costs a little more when it's, when it's healthy for you for whatever fucking
what do you like if you're being bad?
Are you a pork rinds guy?
You're a candy guy?
Oh, man.
Pizza.
What are you got?
What's the cheat?
You know, they even also have protein Doritos out of it.
Yeah.
They do have.
Yeah, yeah, dude.
There's like, I think there's like 13 grams of like protein for these little bags of them.
Yeah.
And they're delicious, man, artificial free and all sorts of stuff.
But I think for me, the cheat would be, dude, I just, there's nothing better than like chocolate and peanut butter together.
You know, if a Reese's cup or like a peanut butter chocolatey cake or fucking.
Oh, God damn.
I love.
Does anybody built for the show?
Let's go.
Eddie Swims, baby.
I love it.
Man.
Like that.
That's all right.
Now when you, let's say, you know, tomorrow's a show night or let's say, you know, whatever, you pull in, you got a show at show night, are you eating before or are you eating after?
Is there what, what is the day of the show looking at?
And what's the writer like in there in the green room?
The writer's, you know, similar?
Yeah, man, protein sakes.
It's really nice.
Like, I've been into those chomps, like little fucking sugar-free jerkeys and, you know, like this, this kind of.
Keeping it tight these days.
Yeah, it's been super.
We've learned as you're working, it's like fun.
You're like, oh, I can drink and smoke and eat pizza.
But then I just start stacking the tour dates and you're like, I got it.
Oh, yeah.
You're like, you can't live like that.
Until last year, until this year, really, man, I had been like a bottle of tequila a day and I'm just out there fucking giving it hell.
And it's starting, it really started aging me.
You know what I mean?
Yeah, it's just really, it really started catching up with me.
So I've learned to like, you know.
And I think my son had a lot to do with that too, man.
I just want to, I want to be here.
That's another thing.
Like, he's just really settled me down.
But, I mean, it's, you know, we, we, I try to get up and I'll hit the gym before or after sound check.
And then, you know, I try to, like I said, just meet my protein goals.
If I can get, like, 250 grams of protein a day, I try to get that and keep it, you know, just stay in a deficit.
But, and then some of these arenas are kind enough that they, like, open up the gyms for us, like.
Sick, yeah.
Which we can use there.
So that's been great.
And, I mean, I got a boxing coach on the road with us a good bit, too.
Let's go.
That guy's locked these dialed in.
I'm in there, dude.
I'm down like 50 pounds right now.
Let's go.
Yeah, bro.
It's fantastic, dude.
Love to see it.
Yeah, love to see it.
How long does the sound check take for you?
I'm always curious about musicians.
It depends on the day.
You know, some of the boys will take a while.
The band will play, but I'll go up there and do a couple songs.
And, you know, if they're good, I'm good, you know, just.
Everybody's all right, yeah.
Yeah, but I'm just there to make sure the sound, man, my dude, Drew is, like, happy with what he's hearing out there.
Then I'm like, all right, cool.
Does the guy in the booth go with you or is he venue specific?
Yeah, he goes with us.
Okay, so you're not dealing with a new sound guy.
You know, it's so nuts because this is like, you know, in our first time in like these big arenas and America, you, what's crazy about it is it's completely a shell, you know?
So it's everything comes up.
Yeah.
So, I mean, we're bringing all the stage, the production, the lights, the PA, the everything.
So it's so nuts.
We were just, you know, I feel like like six trucks.
a year ago now we're at like 25 you know let's go that's crazy it's crazy how many folks it's like
there's like 150 of us or something and it's like and trying trying so hard it's still kind of
maintained to be a tight-knit family as it's like I'm still meeting somebody every day like I'm like
oh man I'm so sorry I haven't met you yet man I thank you so much what you're doing what is it you
do you know what is it you love you man thank you if you need anything my door's always open you know
love you so much just just holler at me I'm I'm I'm here that happened we did uh we opened we
opened up for Bert in some arenas.
And we got there.
They were already running and gunning and we just met them.
And then like we did the show and then got off.
And we were like walking back to the bus.
I'm like, I was sick.
We're just going to hop on the bus and go.
And we walked out.
And there was like, you know, 50 crew members waiting to take everything down.
I'm like, oh, yeah.
I didn't.
I just thought like it all just appeared and disappeared.
You know, and I mean, that's, and even at such a high level like that, you know,
it's still just like just bird up there with a mic.
You know what I mean?
So when you get like 10 musicians up there.
You know, I can't imagine the difference of, you know, lighting cues and stuff like that we would have.
That's wild, yeah.
So it's, which I always, I always wonder about, like, stand up.
It's such a scary thing to be, like, at that level, too.
And when you're like, because there's such a thing about you guys can't ever, like, rely on, like, your hits.
You know what I'm saying?
It's not like, it's not like, burn.
Yeah.
You can't do something from, like, five years ago and be like, don't you guys want to hear this joke that we?
super awesome for me.
You know, it's like, really, I know that.
I know that, you know.
And so when it's like, when I'm up there,
if I say a joke that absolutely falls on his face,
I can always like, just go on the next song.
You know, I'm playing a loose control or something.
And I'm like, the show is saved.
You know what I mean?
Closer.
I like it.
You said you like to sleep on the bus.
When you sleep, are you on your side?
Are you on your back?
Are you a pillow guy?
Yeah, I'm kind of, I've been weightily more of a belly guy,
but I think that's also
I think that's now
because I like am
You trimmed down.
You can do it for the first time
comfortably.
Yeah, it feels pretty good.
And also, speaking to belly,
I don't know if I,
you can cut this if you need to
but this is the first time
in a long time
that I've been able to like
not have to fold a pillow
behind my head
to watch my dick getting sucked
which is really awesome,
man.
You know what I mean?
We will not be cutting that.
And that's fantastic.
And I'm in the same boat of you.
Yeah.
It's pretty goddamn awesome.
You know, you don't have to like
do this number
and feel all like,
you know,
so I,
that's been just an awesome.
awesome thing.
Not that it's happening often on tour.
I'm just saying that it's,
yeah, just in general,
that's been something that's been happening.
Of course.
A new fitness unlocked.
Will you pee in the shower?
Absolutely.
Will you brush your teeth in there?
I would, but I don't, I haven't know.
I haven't thought about it, I guess.
When you brush your teeth,
are you right at the sink or will you walk around a little bit?
Can you walk around and do this and you're holding a little court or no?
I don't think I usually move around.
I do it.
I just got one of those.
I'm still trying to.
work it out but you know those the whole thing the whole thing yeah that goes there and you're like
do you like this number or two it or something i've had it for like a week i still don't know if it's
like if i mean it feels like it's brushing them but i also just just this different thing i still
got to use my thing to brush my tongue but i guess we'll we'll see in a couple weeks if it's like
do it's job or not you know you are famous that's crazy i found i found like a knockoff on
amazon it's like 60 bucks a why you're ruining for me i should have told me it was made out of gold and it was
10 grand.
That's good.
How old were you when you got your passport?
It was the first tour we did, so, in 2020.
So I just...
And we only used it to go to Toronto, you know what I mean?
But, yeah, that was the first time I've been out of the country at all.
I respect it.
What was the first time he had Nutella?
Nutella?
Oh, God, I don't know, man.
Maybe about around the same time.
Same bag on my best point.
Probably around the same time.
What are we doing?
I had never even played out of the state before.
I had like a 20, you know what I mean?
So it was like, I'm like, holy shit, we're touring.
Yeah.
Let's go.
Hmm.
Well, have you, not when was the last?
Have you ever checked into a hotel and brought your own cooler?
No.
I can't say that.
Wow, that's very good.
I would have thought the other one.
Yeah, really.
For beer, you're bringing your beers there.
Anything you're specific about it.
Would you ever, do you ever, like, bring your own?
toilet paper to a hotel or anything like that?
No, but I mean, it's a smart idea because you never know if you're getting that
single fly bullshit or not, right?
You know what I mean?
But that is a good idea.
I mean, I try to, I do bring some, I do bring some, you know, boil eggs in there from
time to time.
Okay, it's all right.
You know, maybe some protein shakes.
When you fly, you fly in commercial still?
Yeah, a lot, man.
I'm actually a Delta 360 member.
Oh, 360's tough to get.
Holy shit.
Invite only.
It's like the president.
I really got like fucking 12 million Delta Sky Miles right now.
It's insane.
We're going to go on an absolute, absolute crazy holiday.
Yeah, it's going to be a sick one for sure.
Damn.
I'm almost Delta Diamond.
That's sick, man.
It gets so much better once you get there.
You could just like, especially when you're L.A., they got like Delta One Lounge, you know,
and you could just kind of check in every time there.
Yeah.
So you don't have to go through the, you know, regular stuff.
You could just kind of check it that way.
And they're like,
And every time we fly out, we go in with, because we try out with it, like our team,
and we'll go in, you know, regular with them.
And then he was like, it's crazy.
You guys go through the regular entrance with us.
And I'm like, yeah, that might have to stop.
Yeah, the Mr. Dimza.
Can we get you a health shot?
You know why you walk in?
You walk in.
The head of the ginset.
Yeah.
Yeah, I'll take that.
Yeah.
You have any of the telepleas?
Yeah.
That's fantastic.
Let's go.
Will you bring food on a plane?
Like, uh, the eggs are okay, but I'm not really.
No.
I, you know, I, I feel like, I don't know, I feel like a weird guy bringing like food, like maybe, is it like back food or just like something you bought at the airport?
Depends.
There's like what, where's your mind?
Like a subway sandwich and I brought onto the plane, but, you know, I always feel kind of weird because, you know, hold on.
You did bring a subway sandwich?
I have, yeah.
Yeah, that would be the garbage side of things.
Yeah, okay.
But it was, it was right outside the gate.
There was a subway.
I got, got me a rap real quick and fucking, you know.
A wrap.
I might push, but rap's okay.
But is too.
How does that certain smell?
Was it a tuna?
Yeah, it was tuna.
What are you doing?
Get out of here.
Got fish in the fusel lodge.
That's crazy.
You don't remember what airport that was, do you?
I couldn't tell you, man.
In Cleveland, there's one literally right outside of the gate.
Could be.
Could be Cleveland.
Could be.
Growing up.
Tuna wrap.
Or now, would you sneak snacks into the movie theater?
Hell yeah.
Always, yeah, man.
Absolutely.
He's trash.
What are we doing about?
I know.
I told you.
I told you.
I told you.
What are we doing?
Obviously, it's probably tough.
You had the kid, the tour, the album, everything.
Where was the last vacation?
Were you able to sneak one in between things?
You know, I don't know.
I think last time we went to Hawaii.
We were getting ready to play there, but we just spent a couple days there, you know, enjoy it.
So it wasn't, I wouldn't say like a vacation, but we had a good three or four days to.
Did you go on the water?
No, I went on a boat in the water, but I'm not going in the ocean, bro.
I'm not doing it.
doing that what would be your dream vacation um you got two weeks off i would you know every time
i think about wanting to go somewhere though i spend so much time traveling and i'm like i just want to
be at the fucking house but i think i really i really want to i think greece would be beautiful yes
my producer buddy julian he tells me about this big boat they went and like wouldn't travel like a
week on this boat and greece and it was like he was like dude it's it's incredible you got to go do this once in
your life so i'm like okay well poke me up with the boat folks and maybe but i don't know how much
he's he's he's he's far richer than i think he could swing it he's playing the parkley's
but i mean as long as i could use these 12 million delta sky miles yeah there you go i'm delta
360 yeah so uh very nice guy miles yeah man oh man uh what is there anything you're cooking
or you do a breakfast at the house or like i'm not much of i think you know and i think you know and i think
It's a beautiful art for them, you know.
Don't get me wrong, but it's just such a mundane task for me.
I just, I don't have the.
It's not for you.
Yeah, I don't have the patience for it.
I'd rather just order the shit and they show up.
Any celebrity cookware at the house?
Any Paris Hilton stuff?
Anything like that?
No, not that.
No, I don't have any pair of Hilton cookware, but I do have a chef knife from Moes.
You know, Mose Southwest Grill?
They got Mose out here, don't they?
Do they?
Yeah, I know them.
It started in Atlanta.
I mean, it's my favorite place in the world.
When I was, it's kind of like a, they're like a walk-through burrito joint like Chipotle.
Gotcha.
Just more delicious.
But casual dining is, guys.
Yeah, when I first started like, what I was living on my own, my first time, I was just,
it was just kind of like me and my piano in this kind of empty house.
And so I was like really broke at the time.
I had just kind of dropped out of hair school.
And I used to could walk like a mile to this Moes every day.
And they were just like, you know, this lady Bonnie who I went to hair school,
with. She was like, the manager there.
So she's like, come let me feed you, baby.
And they used to have this thing, too, at the end of the line where you could put in
your phone number and then after 10 visits, you get a free entree.
So I'll just fucking clock in 100 numbers I can think of, you know what I mean?
And it's so like, it'd be like free entree.
Oh, trying to hit someone's free entree.
Well, I would have like all my friends memorized so I could just like, you know,
put all these in.
And then eventually Bonnie was like, look, we know what you're doing.
Just come get a meal, baby.
It's probably the only time I'd eat.
So I see like Mo's like really changed my life.
And then saved my life at the time.
Yeah.
And then so I went to their headquarters in Atlanta one time.
And they like, you know, we, they made me like, they gave me this like chef knife with the Moes.
But I wouldn't say it's a celebrity, but it's.
That's awesome.
Pretty cool.
Knife.
I love it.
Can you open up a bottle with a lighter?
No, but I can do it with my teeth.
Oh, I knew you were going to see.
That's worse than the lighter.
Yeah.
I'm going to quit with that.
What would you say your favorite movie is?
Or one of your favorites?
Man, I got loads.
Give us your top three.
That's tough.
I would say I got tattoos of a lot of them.
Okay.
I got Chobes Peterson from Happy Gilmore here.
Shout out, Chuck.
Okay.
And I got the Blue Duck from Billy Madison.
Okay.
I speak of my language.
Yeah, dude, I got Joe Dirt tattooed on me, awesome powers tattooed on me, man.
It's got such a dirt.
Yeah, dude.
Lloyd Christmas, Dumb and Dumber's all.
Me too, man.
Not one drama.
Dude, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, I'm still working on
them, but they're, uh, they're the Bhutabi brothers from night of the rocks.
Oh, shit.
I'm, I'm covered, man.
Dude, I just, farley's on me, man.
I've got Dave Chappelle, man, you know, let's go.
What, uh, that's hilarious.
So that's just kind of my, my, my, you know.
That's my vibe, yeah, that's my vibe right there.
Dude, I would have never remembered their brother's names from them.
What are the Dumotabi?
Yeah, Daubbabi, Doug Butabi.
Steve Buttabi
Yeah
That's one of my favorite
I would have never pulled that
Richard Greco
He was great in it
I just saw it like
Maybe three weeks ago
I watched it all the time
Turned around
Tipped his hat
Like this
The dad's my favorite
I've loved him as an actor
He was on cheers
He was Nick Tortelli on cheers
He was the dad
And uh
Clueless
Yeah
Yeah
What is the Austin
Power's tattoo
It's just a picture of Austin
Oh it's an actual picture
I thought it was like a saying.
No, it's a real portrait of awesome power.
It's a really great portrait.
What's a credit score like?
Solid?
Yeah, it's doing really good now.
Yeah.
It's at the Barclays Center.
He's wilder who was $5.50.
Yeah, it's doing great these days.
But it has been.
Yeah, and in my life, it has not been the best.
Can you tell me what the lowest it might have been?
I couldn't tell you, me.
Five, six?
Because I don't, you know, I didn't have much of credit.
Sure.
You know, other than like my student loans, I think.
thing kind of hit me for a bit there, but we wouldn't we, you know, when I first got a like finance
manager, you know, what it's like, hey man, let's, let's go ahead and pay this off.
Don't you think, you know, and I'm like, okay, so we've been, we've been doing good.
I'm sitting at 6.02 right now.
A little bit of rebuilding year.
I heard that, man.
It takes a second.
It takes a second.
What do you think it is now?
Do you know, Kylie?
Okay.
It's update.
It's to what it doesn't matter.
You're in, like, sections.
It's like you're in the excellent or whatever.
But I'm, yeah, I'm doing, yeah, they'll give.
You know what the most frustrating thing is, though?
It's like, once you get money, you're like wanting to spend your money.
Like, no, no, no, you got to borrow it.
You know what the fuck?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Why can't I just like pay things in cash, you know?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
That's rich guy shit.
That's sick.
Yeah.
You borrow money off the money.
It's like, it's like one of those games.
It's three card Monty.
You're like, I don't know what's going on here.
I tried to do that.
It crumbled around me.
Speaking of money, you go to a wedding.
Close friends.
friend, what are you sticking in the envelope?
What do you mean by that?
Like, a gift.
What are you gifted?
Oh, oh, okay.
I don't know.
I don't know.
I don't know if I'm the best at, I don't even know.
You're supposed to bring it.
What?
To be honest with you, I don't know.
I just show up.
Somebody probably on the team would set, would take care of.
I have, I have officiated a few, though.
Nice.
Yeah, man.
I got my officiance license and then.
Do you remember what did you do it online?
Yeah.
And then, so I've done a few.
I've done my aunts, man, and a couple friends along the way.
So I, you know, that's a pretty good gift.
But you didn't.
That's a very percent.
Drop a song.
I'm pretty sick.
I'm pretty, I'm a pretty good reverend.
Yeah.
I did once.
I was there.
I was pretty nervous and I was going to mess it up and I kind of did.
What, I mean, you're a very stylish guy.
Very?
What is the, what is the clothing procurement process these days?
Are people?
Yeah.
Like, you got, like, especially for the tour or whatever.
There's like a wardrobe.
Yeah, this guy, Christian Strobel, helps me with a lot of stuff.
And he's just a fucking visionary.
It's totally just gets it, you know.
And we have a bunch of cool people that, you know, work on cool things,
make a lot of custom things.
And our whole tour is kind of Atlanta themed and it's like kind of based on home.
So I got a bunch of Atlanta gear and Georgia gear.
The sick hat. I noticed the hat.
Yeah, that's cool.
What, uh, with this shirt specifically, Green Day Duky shirt, classic.
Yeah, and it's also a dark side too.
Is someone make that for you?
You go, hey, I made this or like, what's...
You know, my buddy Christian brought up, I don't know who makes these, and I feel bad because I was going to...
I meant to say, but he made like a bunch of these, and then they gave me like three of them.
That's sick.
Yeah, it's cool.
It's got Duky and Dark Side of the Moon on it, so it's both awesome, awesome albums.
Have you been in a Walmart, a Walmart Target, Ross, Marshall's T.
T. Jam Axon the last 365 days?
Yeah, hell yeah.
You just got mad at you, dude.
Yeah, of course.
You think I am.
Yeah, yeah, of course, man, always.
Yeah.
I mean, listen, they guys...
I get down at Ross, man.
My mom's as a frequent flyer.
At the Jay C. Penny, at the Ross, at the marshals, my man.
She's...
There's always...
She's, like, moved into my guest house the last few months.
Your mom has.
Yes, and she's kind of commandeered it, but I'll tell you what, man.
The amount of decoration she buys...
from a Ross
or live laugh logs
and it's just like
and the place was already like
you know decorated by somebody
that like my girl
it wasn't shopping at
yeah and so then
so I go in there
not too long ago
and I see this this
it looks like
it looks like a crack kid
lives in there
man because there's like
and I love her to dad
that's my beautiful mama
but she's got this
she's always got these
kind of things on the wall
like one thing on the wall
it goes like
they told her
you'll never withstand the storm
she whispered
I am the storm.
You know, stuff like that?
I remember one time when I was a little bit younger,
I had moved back in with her,
and she had, like, set my piano up, you know,
in this room and was like, you know,
of course there was, like,
guitars and music notes all over the wall.
And she's like, I built you a place for you to jam.
I said, this looks fucking terrible.
Just music notes, and it says,
believe, follow your dreams everywhere.
You know what I mean?
And I was like, God, this live, laugh, love,
ass shit everywhere else.
I love it.
That's great.
I mean, listen.
Yeah.
100% garbage.
100% trash.
We love it, but I'm honored, honestly.
Rock solid guy, though.
Good dude.
Somebody, somebody successful, your motives, your reasons, your drive, the things you went through.
You just love to see it.
Yeah.
One of the things I wanted to mention, the videos of you singing with people on the street is like one of the coolest.
Yeah.
Who think you.
That's like, it's a thing you don't have to do, but you want to do.
It's just, and now after meeting you, it comes off as very, it's so genuine.
You know, it keeps music.
I think when we do these shows, as big and wonderful as they are, there's so much planning
and there's no, like, room for spontaneity on it, you know?
So it's so good to just, like, be able to do those kind of things and keep it spontaneous
and be like, oh, do we know how to fucking, we'll just make this up as we go.
That's what live music's meant to be, you know.
It's awesome.
I always got to keep live music, live music still, you know.
You're a real one, brother.
I'll tell you that right now.
We're very happy for you.
Couldn't be more grateful that you came in.
Yeah.
You're on tour right now.
We're at the Barclay Center tomorrow night.
That's crazy.
Unbelievable.
Yeah, you guys are all welcome as you want to.
Oh, thank you.
Come on, please, man.
For sure, man.
Thank you very much.
You're your mom or your dog, your neighbor, whatever you want.
Yeah, y'all, come on.
Single Perfect Man is out right now.

Get it.
Love them.
