Hundreds of migrants are expected at Alligator Alcatraz Detention Center. This happened. This is happening today. The migrant detention center deep in the Everglades is nearing full operation. It's been a busy day outside these so-called alligator Alcatraz. Local sense, Christina Vasquez is live near O'Choppy with what we've just learned. Christina. 30 million? Yeah, I know.

New at this hour and within the hour, Florida's Attorney General, taking to the platform X to say at this very remote, to detention and deportation facility, hundreds of undocumented individuals are expected to be checking in later tonight. Checking in. State officials say alligator Alcatraz, a hastily assembled temporary detention facility tents and trailers along an aging air strip in the Everglades is up and running. And also at one point leaking following Tuesday's heavy afternoon rainstorm, a spokesperson

with the Florida Division of Emergency Management describing the water intrusion of some structures as minimal, telling local 10 news. vendors tightened base seams overnight to mitigate against it happening again. Man. During much of Wednesday morning, pickup trucks and big grids, hold items like water tanks and fencing material into the remote facility. It's crazy they built that shit in eight days. ...the president's mission to detain and deport.

Flights are expected to take off right from this tarmac and becoming an attraction. I figured I'd just stop by and see if I could get some pictures of this place. We do need to get all the criminals out. Bro. Yeah. That's right. I bet that. Yep, for sure.

Criminals out. Critics raised a series of concerns to include cultural and environmental. Eight million Floridians rely on the Everglades for their drinking water. Don't have answers to how they're managing things like waste and, you know, runoff and light pollution and noise pollution. I'm concerned about the billions of dollars taxpayers have invested into Everglades restoration. We are also learning more about how much you, the taxpayers. are paying for the facility. The Department of Homeland Security tells local 10 news it will cost Florida approximately

$450 million a year. That's it? That's pretty good. It will largely be funded by FEMA's shelter and services program. That's good. DHS also tells us that Florida is using old FEMA trailers that now belong to the state renovated. So they're just taking over all the FEMA stuff and they're putting the leak down.

That have been used in previous disasters. It's nothing, yeah. We'll now house workers at the facility. Less than the Ukraine War. Yep. And back here live with this live look where I can tell you those digital signs you are seeing right now, those are new also within about an hour. And once again, it's Florida's Attorney General who is posting on social media that it is expected that the first round of detainees will be arriving at some point later tonight. And the next thing he wrote is that for these detainees, the next stop, back to where they came from.

What do you know about the opening of this facility? Yeah, I actually want to start with some breaking news this hour. Just moments ago, the Justice Department filed a motion to prevent construction delays for Alligator Alcatraz. As you know, this comes after two environmental organizations had filed a lawsuit, essentially looking to pause construction and operation there until a federally

required review of any potential environmental impacts was completed. That sounds like a Karen regulatory. to me, just fucking ignore that shit. I guarantee that's a doubt 100% another Karen regulation. Get that the fuck out of here. Nobody needs that. I'm just looking at the filing that was submitted today. The Justice Department saying in part,

delaying the construction of Florida's temporary detention center as plaintiffs requested what imperil critical immigration enforcement efforts and endanger detainees and overcrowded detention facilities. It goes on to say, Reed, we are proud to defend. against these unfounded claims and to help the administration fulfill its fundamental obligation to prioritize the safety and security of Americans. So again here, the agency essentially vigorously opposing that temporary injunction that those groups... How the fuck the disagreement come into play? We'll see. So we've got our bully over there, Joseph Coney. And, you know, he's got his army.

And they're running a little bit low. And so they're looking to get a... re-up and so cony 2012 is actually being cony 2025 and so we're going to be sending him some extra troops we got we got to get the reinforcements in there had requested as for what's happening on the ground there you mentioned that signage going up today i mean it looks reed like the government is going full steam ahead you thought you forgot the florida division of emergency management tweeted out a photo that i'm hoping we can show you and our viewers um and the caption read the first group has arrived at Alligator Alcatraz. Can we pull up that photo please? In that photo read, you can see there are a couple of white vans. They're behind that locked vans. Unclear, though,

if anyone was or is inside those fans. Now, as for who will be sent to this detention center and how it'll be paid for, we've got a couple of new details to share with you on that front. In a sworn court declaration this morning, a top ICE official said the state of Florida will ultimately decide who is detained there and that immigrants who are detained will be held by Florida state officials, not ICE. And this is a really important distinction here. It's because the federal government

has now given Florida state and local troopers power to act as ICE. Yeah, Trump deputized them. Whatever the fuck. The system right now is, as you know, overcrowded. So the idea here is to offer some relief to that agency. Read, back to you. All right, Chanel Call,

I think that, I mean, like, if it was up to me, the way that I would handle it is I would handle it differently. Like, for all of the biggest problem people, what I would primarily do is I would find ways to make content out of them. Like, you could even have no guards for alligator alcatraz, but you need to get more alligators. And so, like, what they could do is they could just go and put in a bunch of extra allegation. And then to pay for the whole facility, they could record the people trying to escape.
