Starting point is 00:00:00 What's it? Oh, is this mafia? Is this? No, no, no, it's just a collaboration. It's a nice place. Boats and hoes. Please welcome your hosts, Laura Bailey and Matt Mercer. Hi. Hello everyone, and welcome to the Future Game Show Summer Showcase. My name is Laura Bailey.
Starting point is 00:00:34 Though you probably know me best as Abby Anderson in The Last of Us Part 2, or as one of the cast members from, from Critical Role. Indeed. And I'm Matt Mercer, the man behind many video game chaos merchants, such as Lika Dragons' Mad Dog Majimae and Gannendor from Tears'i. Yeah. But if it's a Thursday night, I also moonlight
Starting point is 00:00:52 as Critical Role's Debenair Dungeon Master, where Laura tries her best to test the very limits of my abilities and say me. And you love it. But we're here today joining forces for a very different reason. Exclusive video game trailers and lots of them. Indeed. And like a whole bunch of world
Starting point is 00:01:08 premieres, deep dives, and developer That's a nice jacket. It's frankly an irresponsible amount of video game news that will be beamed directly into your brains for the next 90 minutes. So buckle up. All right. Let's get it. This is going to be fun. Just keep in mind that if you want to wish list any of the cool games in today's show, then you can head to the dedicated future game show Steam page.
Starting point is 00:01:28 Indeed. Once the show is over, there'll be plenty of follow-up coverage on games radar.com and the future game show YouTube channel. Well, I think that's all of the housekeeping out of the way. So let's kick things off with our very first world premiere. Alright, let's get it. Oh, this is cool. Space game. Zafar, pull up NavTack.
Starting point is 00:01:51 Just the sick. Got it. Taki. We gonna find out by your copang right quick, okay? Just want to do injustice. It's not DEI, she's wearing makeup, guys. It's okay. She's hot. We've got big enough guns to make justice, all right?
Starting point is 00:02:09 Oh, Michael. To a man with a hammer, just about everything looks like a nail. like a nail. This is what I said. This is what I said. Missile range in one minute. Brace yourself. We're going for a spin.
Starting point is 00:02:38 This looks pretty good. I'll be real. The far, did you get a signal? After the large hall down this corridor, they shut down this part. I mean, by the way, when I say it looks good, I mean, the graphics look good. I mean, there's no gameplay here, but like, it looks interesting idea. Oh, that's cool. There's like magnetic shoes.
Starting point is 00:03:11 Shoot the drone Oh, oh, oh, oh There it is I bet it's gonna be like an alien or some shit Oh He's alive Alright, all right, now we got the real game This is cool
Starting point is 00:04:16 Yeah, this is, this is God boy this Cool Yeah, that looks good What a way to start the show. Mass Effect. The Expans Osiris Reborn is an action RPG crafted in Unreal Engine 5, where you can immerse yourself in the universe of the beloved TV series.
Starting point is 00:04:49 Make sure it's on your wish lists. Sounds pretty awesome. And we're treating you to another world premiere right now in swapping sci-fi for fantasy in the process. So let's take a look. Yeah, that first game looked pretty good. I would try that out. Blood and Gore, okay, that's a good start. I like the sound of that. What's this?
Starting point is 00:05:14 I used to swear. by my father's oath. To protect the wards is to protect our people. That's really nice. What's one life lost for the sake of the many? And now? What do you swear by today? Okay.
Starting point is 00:05:44 The only one that matters is my brother. And I will kill the people who took him from me. Like, I mean, this is like, the style is good. This is badass. Okay, show the boss fight. No other guy helping you. The words are breaking. And should we pale? Oh, it may spell. Echoes of the end. I don't know, man. Like some of that combat looked like okay. Didn't look great. It looked like, it to me.
Starting point is 00:07:10 reveal echoes of the end. A narrative-driven fantasy adventure coming later this year. But the fun doesn't stop there. Here's another world premiere. It looks like a, uh, that this is your very first look at the game, but trying to see his way I can tell. Basic Unreal 5 combat. Okay. What's this? Pre-Alpha gameplay. It looks like slop. It does have that purple color that most slop games have. This looks good though. I like this. This is a good start. This is a really good start. This is a Tori Gate there too. This is in Japan.
Starting point is 00:08:12 It's a horror game again. Damn, where all these horror games coming from? He's going to turn around and look right at the person doing it. Probably right. This is what it's got to be. Looks VR. You wake up in a forest with no memory. Yeah?
Starting point is 00:08:35 With no map and just a flashlight to light your steps. with the feeling you are always watched. That's because I'm streaming. I know that. The whispers are all around. Oh, Schizo, all right? Try to remember and find your way home. Well, this could be really good or it could be garbage.
Starting point is 00:09:06 Like, I feel like this is a game that, yeah, I mean, I feel like it'd be one or the other. I mean, it's it, no, no, I would play this. I would day one this game, honestly. I would. An isolated cabin in the woods. What could possibly go wrong? Am I crazy to say that? That was your first look at whispers in the fog.
Starting point is 00:09:26 It's a psychological war game from a supremely talented solo developer. Be sure to give it a wish list if you like what you see. Next up, we've got a trailer for an open world action RPG based on the beloved anime, The Seven Deadly Seedles. Let's check it out. So are they going to show Eskinawer in this one? Come on. He's like, he's by far the coolest one. I'm going to fuck about any of the other ones.
Starting point is 00:10:02 Born yet? He's dead? I mean, this is cool. I would play this. I watched like the first three seasons of this show. Okay. All right. So he is going to be in it.
Starting point is 00:10:42 The Seven Deadly Sins Origin is coming soon to PC and PS5, but you can pre-register now at 7orgian.netmarvel. I was curious. I was like, yeah. It's time to learn about what's coming in season 7 of free-to-structo shooter, the finals. Oh, the finals. I've only watched Shroud play this game. I've never played it.
Starting point is 00:11:09 myself. The what? Is it dead? I don't know. Every second counts and these plays are next level. This is what the finals is all about. Split second decisions, teamwork under fire and victory carved in chaos. Love it, but sometimes the best strategy is to just
Starting point is 00:11:32 hit your opponent really, really hard. Yeah, I have no idea how this is supposed to work. I mean, it looks cool. I feel like it's a, for me, it's a bit of a sensory overload game, you know? That's a whole lot. Can you reach what? Okay, cool. It's a battle royale, is it?
Starting point is 00:11:56 They don't have a lot of those, do there. They don't have a lot of those, do there. And whether you're a seasoned veteran or a new contestant entering the arena, if you're tuning in on the FGS Twitch channel, you can earn a Twitch drop of this Kablamo grenade skin. Yeah, that's a bomb? Everybody who watches this very show for 15 consecutive minutes on the FGS Twitch channel will earn the skin. So, if you've been with us from the very start, or you're just joining us, wherever you've been, been, then just stick around.
Starting point is 00:12:21 And not that you need any more reasons, but it's time to move on and talk about hurdling. A shepherd simulator with a whole lot of soul. Let's find out when you can get your hands on it. What are you going to hurt? Are you going to have alpacas and shit too? Is it? How many can you get? It is like only five.
Starting point is 00:12:48 You go like 10? Oh, you get 10. Oh, yeah, you can get 10. So this is like death stranding, but with goats? This is just you're just walking around and like you've got to deliver something it's just goats Why the fuck would you want them to go over here?
Starting point is 00:13:39 Steam demo is out now That's a game that I would maybe try. Hurdling launches later this year But you can try guiding those adorable calicorns Right now. It's like a dumbass game Which is out now on Steam What's next? Sleep awake, which is anything but cute
Starting point is 00:13:56 It's a first person psychedelic thriller that explores the realm between slumber and death. This game is helmed by Corey Davis of specops, the line, and Robin Fink of nine-inch nails. Oh, let's take it closer look. Is it woke? I cannot sleep. I don't think it's woke, guys. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:14:15 I cannot sleep. I must not sleep. Eyes out. Oh, I like that. That's cool. Now, dear, are you? This is all perfectly natural. This is being inevitable.
Starting point is 00:15:12 It comes to cost. Give me your idea. Well, yeah. Well, whenever that comes out, I might play it, but that's like nothing. It's just, I mean, it could be good, right? Sleep awake is coming soon, so drop it on your wish list. We've got a developer presentation for Eric Solne, the stolen dream up next. It's a cinematic, isometric stealth game set in the year 1900.
Starting point is 00:15:42 Oh, isn't that the year you were born? I am a few months younger than you, Laura. I don't think so. No. He's 11. Eric's home is a game set in kind of a fantasy version of the early 1900s. Yeah. And it has a Scandinavian theme style to it.
Starting point is 00:16:13 I would describe it as a stealth puzzle game with a very strong emphasis on story, where you play up to three playable characters that you switch between and they have their own special abilities that you need to use together to kind of solve situations and puzzles in a kind of interlibrillard. kind of interlaced way where everyone's involved. It's in this setting of a Scandinavian nature, which not only resonates with me, but with the rest of the world, because it's so unique. It's always nice to see something new that people can relate to. So I've worked a lot with lighting and 3D rendering, cinematic lighting, stuff like that. So Unders showed me the rendering
Starting point is 00:16:51 of one of the movies and just floored me. I thought it was so beautiful. Then he said, okay, so Tia, what I want for me is I want you to make this look even better. We've played test of the game a lot, And what people usually say is that it feels like I'm playing a movie, but in a great way. Rivering Games was based on the idea that if you have the right mix of people, then perhaps a really small team can still make something that's actually pretty cool. That's true. How is this made by 16 people? Like, why is this quality so high?
Starting point is 00:17:28 A little down to that and I sit down in the couch. Bro, he's just glazing himself. I love it. The story just gets to perform. He's just drawn right in. Who is this guy? It's a magical feeling. I'm really excited for players to just discover this world.
Starting point is 00:17:42 Eric's home is coming to Xbox, PlayStation, Steam, and Epic Game Store. And we have an exclusive trailer that we're about to show you. That will reveal the release date. I hope you enjoyed. I think this game looks pretty, like I just. I don't play movie games really. X-win 33 of 30 people? Yeah, but the gameplay was like...
Starting point is 00:18:12 I don't know. Isometric games to me, I'm like... I make exceptions, but I'm generally not a fan. I view it as a limitation. Even in games that I enjoy. Like PEOE, no rest of the wicked. Amazing games, but... I still wish they weren't isometric.
Starting point is 00:18:39 It's just me for a lost art. July 15th, that's actually pretty soon. I don't know like a... Thank you so much to our friends at River and Games for that window into the world of Perksome. It's coming to PC, Xbox, and PS5. I just look on people that play that kind of a game. So go wish listed on Steam or the Epic Game Store.
Starting point is 00:19:28 All right. Now we've got a new trailer for a cell shaded shooter with gameplay inspired by the Stalker series. Here's the latest trailer for the Explorator. Stalker. Wait, this is inspired by stalker? Wait. What kind of stalker? Not the one I played.
Starting point is 00:19:46 This is like, what is this like, Hogwarts for fairies? It's Hogwarts for gay butterflies and gay fish. Uh-huh. Is that Kanye? I don't think so. Okay. So you walk around. That's crazy.
Starting point is 00:20:41 So I played stalker too. I don't really see the connection. I don't, I don't see it. The Explorator is launching into early access today, so go check it out on Steam and support the developers on the road to launch. Constance is up next, a Metroidvania where you wield the power of a paintbrush to escape a decaying inner world. I'll move into my interests. Okay, let's get it. Hello?
Starting point is 00:21:40 Hey. Are you okay? No, you're not okay. You have a mental illness, just like every other millennial that's going to play this game. I've never seen gameplay like this before. This is the first time. They didn't even animate her toes. Do these people even care about the fans?
Starting point is 00:22:34 Yeah, I don't know, bro. Like, there's so many of these games. It's just like, I got like five of these I need to play. Like, there's that Ninja Guide one. There's that Mandra Gora game. Like, I don't know if I'm on. Constance is coming to PC on November 24th. But there's a demo available on Steam if you want to go.
Starting point is 00:22:49 Prince of Persia game. Those of you have tuned in before will know that during every future game show we create a trio of deep dives into some of the most exciting upcoming games. Our ones to watch, you could say. First game we're tackling for the summer showcase is Titan Quest 2. Titan Quest. The fans been waiting since 2006 for a sequel to Iron Lores cult classic action RPG. And the good news is it's right around the corner.
Starting point is 00:23:11 So let's dig into the details with the help of Grim lore games. All right, let's see it. Most likely to make you a hero of myth. Oh, okay, I like that. I like that. All right, so Roman. Tell us the whole story. Oh. Tell us about hope.
Starting point is 00:23:31 Titan Quest 2 is kind of your Diablo-esque action RPG, but it's set in ancient Greek mythology. You really can immerse yourself in what you associate Greece with. You'll be fighting these mythological monsters. What the fuck? Came up with ourselves, some of which are from Titan Quest water. Greek mythology also has become very much part of pop culture in the last two decades. Some other games have had great success.
Starting point is 00:23:54 with this and we thought that we have this great IP on our hands, why not use it? In Titan Western you'll be playing as a rather unknown hero character. I saw this before. You're not really a hero yet. You're honestly just training to be a capable fighter. Uh-huh. You have a master called Aristinol, she's from Sparta and used to be a priestess of nemesis, as you'll find out later.
Starting point is 00:24:17 You will build up your own worth over time as you preview yourself in front of the class. Combat doesn't look that great, honestly. is very much a classic ARPG, but we've got our own twists in there with like the mastery system, for example, where you merge two masteries into one instead of just being given classes. So you have to find these little entanglements
Starting point is 00:24:39 that you can have between the two masteries, these synergies, and make the best use of them possible. I feel like, again, like my frame of reference for this game is no rest for the wicked. Take your character in multiple directions. And obviously Pee We mix. Class is something we support quite a lot, actually. but the core fantasies of just a tanky warrior, of course you're going to have that.
Starting point is 00:24:59 You can take your character in many directions, and choice is at the core of our game. Your abilities will be modifiable. So each of them has like these several modifier choices that you can put into your skill. We understand. This is our little innovation in this space. That's not an innovation, but okay. I don't, that's fine. We're not going to be doing any micro-transactions in this game because we don't believe in that form of,
Starting point is 00:25:27 of monetization in general. We will be doing traditional DLCs, however. So after the 1.0 launch, we'll be putting out larger DLC packs, which will go through additional chapters. Just don't do it like destiny. General, bosses, creatures, areas. Wait, is that righteous fire? So, Titan Quest 2 will be coming to Steam Early Access very soon.
Starting point is 00:25:50 You can wish list it now already. Today, right? And we're looking for a summer timeline for this. And then later, the other platform. worse. Yeah, bro, I'll play this. No micro-transaction, but the ELC packs, what's the difference? Big difference.
Starting point is 00:26:08 Yeah, this is really cool. I'll play that for sure. Titan Quest 2 is coming soon and you can wish listed on Steam or the epic games. Does he's played this? He said, it's good? Really? Wait.
Starting point is 00:26:21 Legendary actor, Ui Lowenthal? The Spider-Man to my MJ? What are you doing here? Who's this guy? I was just, you know, wandering the soundstages, taking in the sights and smells and then, then, Then I heard you guys making noise about video games out here, and I thought I'd join in.
Starting point is 00:26:35 OK, well, I mean, since you're already here, why don't you take the next trailer? Spider-Man voice? Oh, is he. If that's OK with you guys, I don't know. No, no, it's great. What's your magic? We'll just be over here.
Starting point is 00:26:46 All right. Get ready, folks, because it's time for another world premiere. This one's a follow-up to a beloved puzzle adventure that launched back in 2020. OK, what is it? I have seen things that should be forgotten. He must have watched my stream. I've tried to escape my past.
Starting point is 00:27:11 Ooh. Ooh. I've had enough of death and madness. Ooh. But the world is changing. Some now search for answers. In the far reaches of the world. A shocking secrets and dizzying marvels.
Starting point is 00:27:40 For their lies. Upon this world of man, a mocking and incredible shadow of time. Wow, it's coming out on Switch 2? Call of the Elder Gods starring, George Truly, is a Lovecraftian narrative puzzle adventure coming soon to PC and consoles. That'll make like what, 10 games for it? ASAP. So you weren't just wandering the lot then?
Starting point is 00:28:13 I mean, I was, but then, you know, it's called marketing, Matt. Yeah, Matt. Classic marketing. marketing classic. All right, catch you later. Bye, you got to wander. Hell yeah, thanks for coming, man. Bye. See you, bye.
Starting point is 00:28:28 Okay, so while I go make sure there's no other voice sector's hiding on set, we'll just throw it out to some back-to-back trailers. All right, let's get it. I'll stay here. Free bio course, how hard could it be? This isn't a millennial game, is it? No.
Starting point is 00:28:46 Oh, that? Okay. Hard. Oh, it's definitely a millennial game. It's, this has big millennial energy. Guys. Guys, I...
Starting point is 00:29:05 It's like catching a flag on crack. That's kind of funny. Maybe it'd be all right. I don't know. What is it? Welcome to Vail of the Witch, a turn-based tactical RPG with a roguelite twist.
Starting point is 00:29:21 You play. as ash, a shipwrecked castaway with no memories and a big ass sword. Let's see if I remember how to use it. Five years after a bloody civil war, you wake up trapped on a mysterious island filled with monsters, cultists, and a whole lot of zombies. Suffice to say, this whole island is madhouse. Gameplay?
Starting point is 00:29:49 Combat in Vail of the Witch is built for hardcore tactics fans, with an emphasis on speed and brutality. That means a small party, tight battle maps, and enemies that can drop you in just a few hits. I don't know why we don't have to master each allies you need kit. Whether that's frontliner Marco, glass cannon castor. I love the games like that. Or backstabbing cutthroat, Emil. All your abilities work on a cool down.
Starting point is 00:30:18 So you'll have to think smart and learn to jugging. You can also level up and unlock new scale holes right in the middle. of battle. Surrounding this rock solid core is a branching road-like structure, focused on skill in the face of unpredictable challenges. Face off against cool bosses. Burn! Be king of the dead! I'm kind of a... Get your shit wrecked. I'm kind of tapped out on road lights.
Starting point is 00:30:44 Then head back to town where you can unlock upgrades, chat with allies, craft equipment, and more. I feel like I'm a little tapped out. And if you're real nasty, take on trial mode for bigger challenges and better rewards. Fight, die. Rise again, stronger, then come back and conquer. Maybe I'm being too harsh. Lost idol, fail of the witch.
Starting point is 00:31:06 Early access available now on Steam and coming soon to Xbox, PS5, and Nintendo Switch. Yeah, I don't know. What do y'all think? What do you all think? It seems all right. It's just like after Expedition 33, I just can't. What's this? What's this?
Starting point is 00:31:27 This is a Nintendo game? So it's a bullet hell for five-year-olds? That's kind of cool. It's like fall guys, but you have to be like, you have to have like a slightly higher IQ. I don't know if I'd be able to play this one. Seems like it could be good stream content. I would maybe try to try and play this myself. Pop, you come?
Starting point is 00:32:12 That's not what I call a kid's game? What the fuck? Call it that dispatch to unit one there's an ongoing fire what's this dispatch copy is this a no one of those like four player friend games Bring that door open! Let me get that sturdy Halligan first. The clouds are about to catch fire! Get an attack line in there! Gotta go scout the area in. That was close.
Starting point is 00:32:45 Yeah, you're good? Bounce one of the victims. Please get me out of you. We can't let the fire escalate like that. Oh no! Oh no! Ignite, United Against Fire. Coming fall 2025. This looks awful.
Starting point is 00:33:15 Wishless now on PC and consoles. Absolutely awful. Are we all clear? No, Nolan Norths or Ashley Johnson's waiting in the wings? No, I think we're good. All right. Now, remember, folks, you can find all those games, as well as every game we feature today on the future game show Steam page.
Starting point is 00:33:30 Yes, and you'll want to prime your wishlets in advance for this next reveal. It's a game where you play as a bureaucratic inspector in a fantasy world. What's like you make sure the evil layer is up to code before the party heads inside? Yes, that's literally the whole deal. Okay, I legitimately need this game. I don't. What's this? Heroes.
Starting point is 00:33:51 The world is full of them. Sons and daughters are farmers with too much bravery and not enough wisdom. Uh-huh. So, some say. But what is a hero without a princess to save? Yeah, true. Without dragons to smay. Nothing.
Starting point is 00:34:11 That's where you come in. As an agent at the Bureau of Fantastical and Arcane Affairs, you will ensure everything is as it should be for the heroes around. You're going to turn in the furries. Inside this cave, you'll find a necrot. Audit villains and their wares. According to our reports, is a complete and utter embarrassment to the story. This seems kind of funny.
Starting point is 00:34:36 The book is titled, Hellgates and New. ritual sacrifice. As it turns out putting the soul of a demon inside of a skeleton is a touch more tricky than you might imagine. We the members of the United Builders Union of enchanted settlements hereby announce a strike effective immediately. It's the inspector. Can you kill the Cushy job and their clipboard that decides we have to do more work? A dragon attack? That is not in the budget.
Starting point is 00:35:08 Can you just kill them? What is a story? a good hero at its helm. Yeah, bring in the Pinkertons. The one, unsackdementious swing, you lophe's head off. Darling, they felt good, but incompetent evil is still evil. I don't know about this. We are happy to welcome you.
Starting point is 00:35:29 Our newest agent to the cause. Wish this the Bureau of Fantastical and Arcane Affairs today. This is a clever idea, but I don't really give a fuck about this. Oh, that's one for the Critters. I'm sorry. The Bureau of Fantastical and Arcane Affairs is coming later this year. And now for something completely different. This one's for the fans of shooters, anime, and Y2K aesthetics.
Starting point is 00:35:49 That's me. What? Oh, it's a duel. It's a gooner slop? Wifu Tactical Force is a 3V3 anime shooter coming soon to PC, but you can jump into the open playtest on Steam after the show. I really... Now we've got a trailer for an action platformer
Starting point is 00:38:05 inspired by the ancient art of paper folding. Let's take a look at Hiro Gami. Yeah, I think they showed this in another trailer, another show. This looked really good. Yeah, this actually looked good. Play it? Why don't I play that? I'll play Wysop. Play that shit. It looks bad.
Starting point is 00:38:34 Featured and state of play? Yeah, yeah, yeah. That was cool. Yeah, maybe I'm stupid, but I think this actually looks kind of cool. This is a cool idea. Interesting concept. Luma's so cool, yeah. Hero Gami.
Starting point is 00:39:39 Not so bad, huh? Did you like the Kirby games? I went hard on Kirby back in the day. Hiro Gemi is coming to PC and PS5 on September 3rd. Fold it into your wish lists on Steam and the Epic Game Store. The Super Nintendo one? The free demo which is available on Steam. Okay, time for an update on Eve Frontier.
Starting point is 00:39:57 This is CCP game's spacebound survival and the mall. The Chinese Communist Party? Oh shit! Eve Frontier is an invitation for everyone that have had the idea in their brain to make a game. And often the best way to make a game is to start and modify an existing game. We have now created a... an MMO server-side modding platform and we offer an invitation to you
Starting point is 00:40:25 to come and build with us. You can build tools, you can build worlds, you can do so many things. And this is a great way to start your game development adventure by sort of playing around in the amazing survival space hoarder sandbox we have created. But it's different.
Starting point is 00:40:44 When we made it online, we very much wanted to make a sandbox experience where most of the things and the infrastructure in the game would actually be built by players. But we did build quite a bit of it ourselves. Seeing what emerged from Eve, especially when it comes to the third-party development ecosystem,
Starting point is 00:41:01 we could actually give a lot more agency to players to literally build the world. So as we go through this process of stripping down to a survival game, we are on the other hand building up an amazing modping platform. Basically, what the frontier in Naples, third-party developers, is the mod, the actual server, creating additional software that both read and writes the world state. And that, I think, will enable something truly astounding
Starting point is 00:41:30 that has never been seen before. But this is very much inspired by the third-party ecosystem that is developed around even online. We are basically super-charging that with the smart assemblies and the modeling platform that are built into frontier. And what we have seen so far in our various hackathons and events,
Starting point is 00:41:49 and what we've just seen in the sort of built their community overall, absolutely delivers on that vision in space. So they're just basically, this is an announcement for you to make their game. Great. I like it. It's smart. Founder access for EFrontier is available now, and you can head to eFrontier.com to jump in and find out more. What's up next, Laura? We have a brand new trailer for Formula Legends.
Starting point is 00:42:15 Can we please have a good racing game? game that covers the history of motorsport. Okay, let's go. Please, I want one good racing game. You know what this reminds me of? The GameCube. Because it, because of the quality of the game, that's really, yeah. I got to tell you guys, I think even Mario Kart looks better than this.
Starting point is 00:43:29 Well, maybe this won't be $80, though. Formula Legends. Formula Legends is racing towards release on PC and consoles, but you can play the demo now on Steam. Starting point is 00:44:38 With fixed cameras and immersive pre-rendered environments. Wow. A menacing illness has descended on the town of Flint Peak. Can you solve puzzles and tango with monsters to make it out alive? No. Or what about blood grounds? It's a gladatorial rogue-like with a city builder twist. You'll recruit, train, and command a crew of warriors in strategic turn-based battles,
Starting point is 00:45:02 then develop a coastal city in the interim. Carve your name into the annals of history and spill buckets of blood in the process. What's this? What's this? Let's go to the next one. Last but not least, we've got how to escape. Okay. Lost submarine.
Starting point is 00:45:16 With one player on PC or console and the other using a mobile computer. Canyon app. You'll communicate and collaborate to complete puzzles and stop the outbreak of war. No pressure. How do I escape? I just do not give a fuck. That was our ones to play montage. Be sure to follow up on anything that caught your eye. But let's keep on sailing with another exclusive trailer for a naval combat simulator set in the late 18th century. Okay, let's see it. Ahoie is a work in progress. I've heard that before. Every voyage begins with a plan. Show the gameplay. A vision etched on parchment.
Starting point is 00:46:06 This is cool. For telling glory or downfall. Oh, the saber. It is in our nature to conquer what others fear. All right. Death and dishonor. Fail and fortune. Okay.
Starting point is 00:46:26 The life of the sea captain is one of duty and relentless pursuit. All right. Riches are not in gold and jewels, but in the stories we bring back, can we become? This is better being, please, please show the gameplay, please don't be bad. Please don't be like some turn-based shit. Please don't be some turn-based shit. We arrive, but never at our final destination. So we chart our next course.
Starting point is 00:47:04 We sail. We fight. We enjoy. for the voyage is life and life is the voyage. So let me guess there's going to be no trailer of the gameplay.
Starting point is 00:47:25 I mean like this, I mean, everything about this was good, you know? Like that was, like that, like that, I got cool. Very, very cool. Join the crew today on Kickstarter. I gotta see some gameplay though. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:47 No gameplay? Yeah, we gotta see that. Because we had skull and bones. That was a quadruple-a game. Check out the Fund and Drive for Ahoy at Ahoy. It still wasn't as good as pirate you cruise to combat. And you can also wish list the game on Steam or the Epic Game Store. The Spotlight montage is up next. So, say goodbye to our corporeal bodies and hello to our disembodied voices. What Matt means to say with that Gothic vocabulary is that we'll be back on stage once we've talked you through some super cool games.
Starting point is 00:48:14 That one is, that's funny. There's just a bunch of rad-a-drichshot rogues is a turn-based strategy roguelike where you trade tactical trick shots for devastating damage. Across a constantly shifting cartoon peninsula, players will trigger explosive combos and commit to game-changing upgrades. It's coming to PC later this year. You can try it for yourself ahead of time by checking out the free demo on Steam. Now let's take a look at Underpar Golf Architect, an all-in-one simulator where you mold terrain to create world-class courses and then try them. out firsthand. As well as placing the green and obstacles between, you'll manage staff, budgets, and customers on your way to crafting a golfer's paradise. It's coming soon to PC and consoles, but you can wish-list it now on Steam or the Epic Game Store.
Starting point is 00:49:08 Ascend to Zero is up next. It's a hack and slash rogue-like where you play as the last surviving human of a devastated world. To help with that unfortunate predicament, you can freeze time to anticipate attacks and topple voxel monster. The Senda Zero is coming soon to PC, but in the meantime, you can check out the free demo on Steam and drop it onto your wish lists. Or, how about Animal Kind? This is a cozy, cooperative town building game where you play as a crew of adorable critters in mech suits. Players will use their industrial-grade opposable thumbs to scavenge the landscape for materials and establish a community of cute creatures.
Starting point is 00:49:49 Animal Kind is coming soon to PC. soon to PC. But if you head to the Steam page, you can sign up for the Alpha Play Test, which is arriving in July. Next up is Don't Wake the Beast, but the developers have sent over an intricate overview, so I'll set this one out. Hi, my name is Timek. I'm the game designer and producer behind Don't Wake the Beast. Don't Wake the Beast is a stealth road like, in which your goal is to steal as many treasures as possible and run away from the Beast. The tricky part is that each treasure has its weight and the more you pick up the more noise you generate but when you fail there's
Starting point is 00:50:26 always another run my game will feature four biomes all with unique mechanics and beasts it's scheduled to release in 2026 it's like a bilbo bag we're rounding things out with worship a cultist simulator where you try your best to bring about the end of the world inspired by pickman this cute and creepy multiplayer roguelight tasks you with performing blood rights and recruiting followers to please the old ones. I don't like this. Where's killing innocent people? It's coming soon to PC and you can wish listed on Steam.
Starting point is 00:50:56 But that's boring. You're not killing people. That was our spotlight montage. We hope you enjoyed the summer showcase selection. What's the point of that? Oh, it's time for an update on Scum, the survival shooter with poop mechanics. Isn't this?
Starting point is 00:51:09 Not as in like they're bad, no. Is this the game? Is this the game? Tag like porn in it or something? Might actually learn something. I love video games. Peggy, 18, Yeah, on Twitter, yeah, I remember this.
Starting point is 00:51:23 All the negative reviews are about to read are real and are written by people who are not ready for scum. Okay. This is an interesting way to look at it. I'd rather buy WinRRRR. Killed by an indestructible robot. Nobody wants to micromanage their poop. Yeah, I bet.
Starting point is 00:51:57 The game is made for massacus. Oh shit! Peasiders are a new low? Games trash, don't buy it. 2,000 hours played. I'm gonna be honest, like, that's a... If those inspired reviews have grabbed your attention... Using negative reviews to market your game?
Starting point is 00:52:28 You can head to the link on screen right now for a chance to win one of a hundred keys for scum 1.0. Yeah. And if you're not one of the lucky winners, then you'll just have to jump in with the rest of... us when it launches on June 17th. Our next game is a squad-based survival shooter where you dodge deadly dinosaurs. Here's the latest trailer for Death Ground. Okay, it's Turah.
Starting point is 00:52:50 Deadly Dinoes are in the loose of dead. That's a chicken now, by the way. Whether you dare to enter solo or in a squad of that's also a chicken. You must do everything you can to survive. That's a chicken. That's a chicken. Could you survive?
Starting point is 00:53:02 Two chickens. Hi, which all drop games, the Indie Dev team behind Deathground. The main threat you'll need to avoid is the raptors, specifically Utah Raptors. So unlike velociraptors, which are much smaller, they measure around 7 feet tall. Damn. I'm about 5'3, so that's a pretty menacing height comparison for me. We've spent most of our development time taming them, and it's been a huge challenge because how do you get something that size with that tail to behave all in multiplayer?
Starting point is 00:53:31 Exactly. Of course, there'll be other dinosaurs to deal with. The chompy. The number one culprit for causing chaos is the compsognathus, aka the compi. What might look like a decent hiding space for you as players might actually be a refuge for these little creatures. What, it's just a chicken? Who cares? Who gives it?
Starting point is 00:53:53 Oh, okay. All right, that's a long boy. Roaming around in the background. And the next thing you know, you're being chased by a Tyrannosaurus rex. There are multiple maps and missions that will be playable at launch. Uh-huh. Mission command. The single player tutorial and introduction level.
Starting point is 00:54:11 Geothermal, where you'll need to repair everything so you'll restart the power plant. Agricultural, which has become a little bit overgrown. The last dinosaur game I played. And biomedical. Was Jurassic Park on the Super Nintendo. Where you have to sneak in and steal rapture eggs. You know, for science. Each mission is replayable and is an important piece of the puzzle.
Starting point is 00:54:31 Each detail or collectible that you come across will help you unlock the law and discover the trees about the disastrous events of the past. Deathground is launching on Steam early access this year. Keep a lookout for our road now. Yeah, I don't really see the appeal here. I'm just not really seeing the appeal. Death Ground is launching into Steam early access later this year. Keep an eye out for Roar News on that front. I am refusing to acknowledge that pun.
Starting point is 00:54:59 So let's move on with our second ones to watch deep dive, shall we? What's the next one? Here's Rogue Factor to tell us more about the studio's new weird action adventure game, Hell is us. Oh, yeah. Yeah, there was a demo up for this game, right? Yeah, I want to hear about this. Madness and hatred and logs of it.
Starting point is 00:55:17 Hi, everyone. My name is Jonathan Jog, Belatad, and I am the executive creative director and executive art director on Hell is Us here at Rogue Factor. So the game that we've been developing for pretty much almost five years now is a game called Hell as Us.
Starting point is 00:55:30 So the game is definitely like an action-adventure game. It is set in the world of Aidea. It's a road state where there's a lot of really weird things happening. You play Remy. He was born there. He was raised in a foster system in Canada and he's going back basically to find answers. This thing that games do now, contemporary games, where the adventuring is just, if you think about it, the exploration and the discovery, they're only there by theme. He had just been following marker after marker until the last marker is over your actual thing you needed to find. Almost all the variables,
Starting point is 00:56:08 connected to the exploration and connected to your discovery, are given to you in a silver platter. So we look at it kind of like the inverse in our game because we got rid of all these things. I remember chatting with John about the old Zelda games, how it was straightforward, and like you had just enough to know where to go, but not too much. It's basically how life works if you think about it, right?
Starting point is 00:56:29 We basically orient ourselves by sight and hearing and what people tell us, right? So you have to pay attention? Fuck. I can't just go to the triangle? What's in the woods? Follow the wind chimes. They will lead the way through. You talk to NPCs, and they're literally going to tell you a clue, right?
Starting point is 00:56:49 So Rebecca and Jova, when she kind of hints you where the Owen convoy, the direction that it took, she says, I know, I don't know where they went exactly, but I know they took the road that goes behind the weird monuments, and she says, you can see them from here. And as we're talking to her, behind her, quite far, you see some peculiar monuments. looking thing. Like, is that what she's talking about? Like, is that if I go and then you go there and you said it rode that turn, then it's, maybe the convoy did come here. I think that's kind of very unique and it works really, really well. Like any game, especially a game of almost 40 hours, sometimes it works better than others. You know, no game is absolutely perfect, but it's very much,
Starting point is 00:57:28 it's the joy of exploration, the joy of discovery. I wonder if this would be any good. The abbey is closed. Official AAF business. Of course, we can't talk about hell is us without talking about our monsters and the enemies, the limbic entities are physical manifestations of human emotions, of human negative emotions. It's not very good. What does an emotion look like? Who knows? A woman.
Starting point is 00:57:52 We had many iterations. We ended up with these kind of like fractally geometrically thingies, you know, so we have grief, ecstasy, terror and rage. So the hollow walker represents a bit, so it's just a husk, this is what we call the hollow walker and it's a bit like a facsimile of a human being who's felt is very strong negative emotion. And then they look like that because we tried a lot of things and they ended up looking like this, you know. I mean, their movement's cool. So you'll be able to play Hell as Us on September 4th, 2025 on Xbox series X and S, PlayStation 5, and obviously PC.
Starting point is 00:58:25 Yeah, I've probably tried something like this. Wish list it now because Hell is Us is coming to PC and consoles on September 4th. All right. I think we're doing another world premiere, don't you? Okay, let's see a new game. This one's an action adventure set in a drop-dead gorgeous cartoon world. Okay. And it stars some very familiar faces.
Starting point is 00:58:43 Wait. Is it us? Maybe. Let's throw to someone who knows while I take this totally real phone call. Hello? Hi. Silk song? Surely it's going to be Silk Song. Hey, Laura. Hey Matt. I'm super excited to be back on the future game show where I belong. And you are doing a fantastic job. Like I said to the producers when I was hosting, if you strike me down,
Starting point is 00:59:07 Oh, this is live, isn't it? Oh, so yeah, New Tales reached out, and I am officially in their game. Actually, seeing you just reminding me, they're looking for a killer writer who can also perform. Let me call Jasmine. Look, it's fine. You're doing great for time. What is this? Hey, Jazz.
Starting point is 00:59:28 Hi, Sam. I've got a really cool gig. Want to join me in a game. If we're both in, I'm pretty sure Matt and Laura. There's a game. Yeah, sure. I'll be in a game with you. But only if you're coming to the D&D group next week because our party is going to use the barbarian
Starting point is 00:59:44 All right. I guess we're all doing this. That was easy. So let's check out exactly what we're getting ourselves into. Okay. So it's like fish. I mean, the water thing is like, uh, I don't know. Yeah. Yeah, I don't know how many people want to play a game like this. Yeah. The combat, again, a lot of these games, I just, the combat, I just don't really know if it's there. It looked like there's like literally two mechanics. That's right.
Starting point is 01:01:19 We're joining Samantha Bayard. Yes, Carlack herself. and the awesome Jasmine Bulr and fading Echo coming to PCs and consoles next year. And you can wish list it today on Steam or the Epic Game Store. Go, go, go, go. Not again. We got another block of back-to-back trailers up next.
Starting point is 01:01:35 Let's dig in. We have been blessed to live in times of peace. Yeah. But our city is not without its enemies. JRP-inspired effort. The demons above and the beasts below. Oh, right. Up, up, up.
Starting point is 01:01:57 Let's do this. This turn base? You're going to be bishops, too. No. No. All things are possible. Well, that's kind of cool. It's time the three of you learn the true purpose of the bishops.
Starting point is 01:02:12 Oh. We recruit from the finest soldiers in the church. And still, I don't know what to think about this. It doesn't make it past the first year. Is this like expedition instead of three three? It's like expedition to do. We gave you those robes for a reason. Yeah, what's this?
Starting point is 01:02:35 Damn, I love the church. Expression 3.3? Yeah. Oh, oh. I used to play these at the arcade. I used to love these games, man. I don't know whatever happened to these games. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:02:58 I feel like it's like one of those genres that kind of like stop happening, you know? Do you have some 12 phone games? I mean like yeah This is like yeah it is like Gallagher or something you know I love these I don't know how much like nostalgia is out there for these games though I don't know this is kind of stupid this looks like millennial character design guys I'm kind of worried
Starting point is 01:04:12 oh I actually saw a little rid of this gameplay before it looked okay yeah no I remember seeing some of this It's like cyberpunk for Cartoon Network? Yeah. For Nickelodeon. Guys. Ah, maybe I'd try this. Okay.
Starting point is 01:05:24 Next. Oh, I remember this game. This game was good. Oh, yeah. I remember that? This is on Super Nintendo. Yeah. I think.
Starting point is 01:05:55 Dude, this is... I haven't even thought about this game. Oh, my God. This is actually... weird. The decades, yeah. It's actually like, that's weird. That's weird for me to see that. We're back. And you can wish list all of those games by heading to the, the future game show steam page. The future game shows Steam page. That brings back out of the way. It's time for a spine tingling, closer look at the next game from the minds behind until dawn. Directive 8020 is about a deep space
Starting point is 01:06:41 mission to save humanity and the shape-shifting alien who gets in the way. Let's throw it over to supermassive games to find out more. It's a boomer. Yeah, I'm a boomer. A little bit, yeah. Lower the gun. Not until you move from the scam. Oh. Those things can change shape. Oh. Point that thing at me again.
Starting point is 01:07:15 Is this a game or a movie? That's what I was worried about. We need urgent assistance. Trust no one. Wow, well, that's really exciting. But what if that went differently? Hey, I'm Will Doyle, creative director on director of 8020, and I'm here to share with you a new feature that we've added for the first time. we've added for the first time in a dark pictures game.
Starting point is 01:07:54 Turning points is a new narrative system which allows you to go back and change the outcome of your choices. Okay. As with all our games, Directive 2020 is a branch in store with multiple endings. You'll be able to track the choices and paths that you've taken in the game and see alternative paths that link to each of the major decisions that you've made. With turning points, you can rewind to a pivotal point or decision, collect, missing collectibles, we'll see how different choices would have played out. Same token, your actions matter in our games. If you want to live by your decisions, there's also a survivor mode setting that prevents you from
Starting point is 01:08:32 rewinding, but still lets you view the decision tree. Turning points will be available, both digitally and physically, for all copies of the game from when you start your very first mission. Okay. I mean, I just don't really like, I mean, I don't know how a game like that, like, I mean... Directive 8020 introduces the ability to rewind and change your choices to see the consequences in each branching path. Is that a skipperino, guys? It's coming to PC, PlayStation, and Xbox in 2025.
Starting point is 01:09:00 And if it's not on your wish list already, go fix that. Our next game is just as scary, but for entirely different reasons. K.R.N. is a death-defined climbing simulator with a meticulous control scheme. Why? Here's the game bakers to tell you more. I don't know why they keep trying to push this. Karen is what we call a survival climber. Your goal is to climb a mountain and reach a summit no one has ever conquered.
Starting point is 01:09:25 You can climb almost anywhere. Dane to stop making video games that I'm like. You'll need to carefully manage your balance and stamina. Make a mistake and you'll fall and get hurt. For the first time, we are also showing what it's like to climb at high altitude. True, yeah. When you get up there, you'll face ice wolves that require to use ice axes and spikes. Oh yeah.
Starting point is 01:09:49 But don't think you can just jam your tools into the ice. Ice climbing is precise. You'll need to aim for cracks and edges to get a solid grip. Cairn's realistic climbing system also supports mixed climbing. That means you can have one hand on the rock and the other using an ice tool. It's up to you to read the rock face and choose the most strategic route to the top. Cairn is coming up on PlayStation 5 and Steam later this year. You can already give it a try in the demo available on PC and PS5.
Starting point is 01:10:26 I just don't really see how... Like, I want to know how much money these games made. I do, I do, I really want to know. And you can't even check out a free demo on both platforms after the show. What's next, Matt? We're mixing things up with a double bill of trailers. Am I crazy? You are two great games from our friends at Quali.
Starting point is 01:10:45 Look, I want to know how many sales they make. Korea is devastated. Bless Reborn. Why is this happening? I've been wondering that for a while. I love how we've moved past Super Nintendo nostalgia and we're now evolved into PlayStation 1 nostalgia. Have you guys noticed that?
Starting point is 01:11:39 Because all the Super Nintendo people are too old now and they like have kids and shit. Which stresses me out because I grew up with a Super Nintendo. Yeah. Man. How about that, huh? What's this? This looks good. Pussy. Get out of here. Didn't I see this? No, I didn't. This actually looks really good. I like this. It's the boss. The ghoul? Okay, that's a dumb fucking name, but I'll try that out. Yeah, that game actually doesn't look like dog shit.
Starting point is 01:12:58 Park the ghoul and ground zero are both coming soon. But like, actually, I've got a good feeling about that one. We're taking a look at a game called Hela. It's a cooperative folklore adventure. where you and your friends band together as brave little mice. But you, that's a rat. Because don't mice have fur on their tail? No? Oh. Mice are inside, rats are outside?
Starting point is 01:13:34 Not always. Uh-huh. They should make a game like this, but have one of the levels be my house. Straight up. Can you imagine it? Final dungeon. It's like an unlockable hard mode.
Starting point is 01:14:24 unlockable hard mode. Can you go in the water? Hella is coming soon to PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. So give it a wish list on Steam or the Epic Game Store. Moving swiftly on. It's time for a look at Ludo. This is a psychological thriller where the protagonist is trapped inside their own home. And we're about to find out when you can play it.
Starting point is 01:14:48 Okay, let's see it. Peggy 18. Ludo. How can you distinguish between what is real? Looks nice. And what isn't? Do you trust what you see? Yes.
Starting point is 01:15:04 What you hear? What happens when everything starts to feel wrong? I've been wondering that for the past two years. To seem fake. Yeah, exactly. Like a trick. I've got a lot to say about after this event. I got a lot to talk about.
Starting point is 01:15:53 What's the 22nd month of the year? The fuck is that? Ludo is coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox. In the meantime, you can wish listed on Steam or the Epic Game Store. It's world premiere time again. This next reveal arrives with an introduction from a very special someone. Who is that? Hello, everyone.

Starting point is 01:21:31 Can you imagine, like, if you're a parent, you have to listen to this shit if you're playing it? your kid flying it. I would just, I would just buy my kid Grant Debt Auto at that point. I can imagine the most annoying V-tubers playing this game. Radutan is coming to Steam early access on July 25th. Starting point is 01:22:50 It's Poirot, don't you know? Oh. No respect. I don't know. It just didn't look good. It can't be. It's Hercules games at the studio are really good, but not for you.
Starting point is 01:23:11 Ah, good for that. Definitely not for me. Monsieur Poirot, I guess you know why I asked you to come. What do you suggest I do? Just like James Bond or some trips? And can you confirm that all the passengers are present for the meal? Yes, we keep the list. Everyone is here.
Starting point is 01:23:31 Good morning. Ladies and gentlemen. I'm sorry to disrupt what promised to be a beautiful day. But I have some terrible news. Who's in the Nile River? But we must take calm if we want to find the culprit. I have a small idea of the situation. I'm May leech.

Starting point is 01:24:52 I'm scared. This might be a card game. Oh, fuck. Is that a pack of cards? No. Oh, okay. Cool. It's a secret dungeon.
Starting point is 01:25:19 House Flipper Scooby-Doo. Do you have to, like, tell people that, like, there was a suicide in the house? Swings, Nora. House Flipper 2, Scooby-Doo is a meddling. We're playing to play on the PC and consoles, this Scoot-Tober. Now we're starting to close in on at the end of the show, but not before we show you our final ones to watch, deep dive. Our team behind the scenes visited the Hanger 13 Office
Starting point is 01:25:42 for an exclusive insight into Mafia, the Old Country. Oh, yeah. Here's all the gory details. The Scootober, did they say that? I didn't even hear that. Mafia, the Old Country, is both a prequel to the original Mafia trilogy. It also sets things up for what might be to come in the future. Going back to 1900 Sicily,
Starting point is 01:26:10 so the birth of not just the Mafia game, but also the actual Mafia itself. Back to where organized crime first really came from. So Italians just ruined everything. In Matthews, the old country, you play as a character called Enzo Favara. Is that it? Who's an upcoming gangster trying to make his way in the Sicilian mafia. As a child, he's worked in the sulfur mines,
Starting point is 01:26:29 sold there by his parents. All right. Bring in for a kid, which unfortunately happened back in those days. He doesn't know family, he doesn't really know love. We didn't even have crime until Italians got to America. The Tereecee crime family and then this game released this story shows his rise through the ranks as he goes from being this impoverished young man to a maid man. For Mafia, the old country, we moved to Unreal Engine 5, which has really enabled us to do incredible things with the characters, with the landscapes, with the cinematics. Every single aspect of the game has undergone a significant graphical upgrade.
Starting point is 01:27:01 Mafia's always been about pushing the technology of its day to do the best in the cinematic storytelling. Some of these chase scenes are really cool. It really makes a lot of really emotional story, even more emotional and meaningful. I kind of goes without saying, but yeah. We've been able to capture incredible nuances in the mocap, in the acting, and all of the character performances that's really helped us to bring our story to life. And there's a little taste of what's in store. We've got a cinematic show, which shows a key moment in Enzo Story. Okay, let's see it.
Starting point is 01:27:28 Maybe 18. Did you play the others? Never. I've never played a mafia game before. This will be it. Come forward. Oh. They about to bring him in.
Starting point is 01:27:54 Remember what I was saying about how men have initiation rituals? All of the men in this room are bound by blood. This is a family. And in this family, we follow a code of honor as a way of life. A brotherhood. You are here because of your deeds. And the assertions of those who stand there to your side. This life is one of secrecy. Make a friend meet.
Starting point is 01:28:48 It is not forgiving to betray one, betrayal. This is good so far. Not that bullshit. Do you wish to commit yourself, your life to this family? Yes. I do. Before the eyes of all here present, join me. They should only be allowed legally to make games like this.
Starting point is 01:29:35 To become a man of honor, repeat this word. I swear my loyalty to this family. I swear my loyalty to this family. My flesh must burn like this saint if I do not keep my oath. My flesh must burn like this saint if I do not keep my oath. Benvenuto, Enzo. Benvenuto, Enzo. Saluta.
Starting point is 01:30:55 Yeah, this is good. That's good. All right. Yeah. Now that's it. We watched a movie. Yeah, but at least it's a good movie. Take a trip to Sicily when Mafia
Starting point is 01:31:14 the Old Country lands on August 8th for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. Damn. Next on our docket is a developer presentation for Tenet of the Spark. We're making our first game. So yeah, anyway, mafia, bro. Like, that game's gonna go hard as fuck. It's cinematic action where you fight bad guys
Starting point is 01:31:50 over free timelines. Yeah. Present day, the wide edge, and the Aztec civilization. the same time you got it right i don't know but this one will suck right right there's no way it's going to suck and it's not just the show you have to use all three characters to explore deal with tricky enemy types and solve puzzles it also answers question you if i'm going to play one of those games in that style i'll play your coozo's euro boxer have a wiking for the great great gr gr grubba or why
Starting point is 01:32:19 does this train car turn into a giant rock and the biggest question is why do they risky role with such a difficult project because we wanted to play a game where you can start with classic one two then send you opponent a cross arena with your hammer switch again to pull this dude little closer hit him with a huge combo cross hole wait isn't this just a gotcha game but for like uh the hell are you and now we make it that game it's just a gotcha game with like random ass people you got it right instead of anime girls watch up watch look we're not dropping the release date yet because yeah this is literally like i mean weathering waves is coming to both PC and consoles.

So it's like some kind of like future thing. Thank you to Roar Games for the Inside Scoop on Tent of the Spark. It's coming soon to PC and consoles.
Starting point is 01:33:18 So I've never heard about this game ever in my life. What have you got for us, Laura? A first look at gameplay for Cresol Theater of Idols. Starting point is 01:35:08 Okay. Yep. All right. Holy moly, that looks good. That's cool. That's cool. That's cool. I'll try.
Starting point is 01:35:17 And your steam wish lists and just a few moments probably. What's what we say? It says 2025. I hate to say it, Matt, but I think we've arrived at the final trailer. All right. Let's get it. How do you want to do this? Okay, I'm thinking we both look into that camera right there and we're both sad that the show's over
Starting point is 01:35:34 But it's okay because that last trailer is really cool and so the folks to hold will be happy and we've done a good job I think so does that work? We'd like to thank everybody who has tuned into the summer show case, as well as the dream weaving developers who put their all into those amazing trailers we debuted today. Starting point is 01:38:13 We'll also have follow-up content on games raider.com and the FGS YouTube channel. I'm Matt Mercer. And I'm Laura Bailey. And this has been the Future Game Show Summer Showcase 2025. Wow. Wow. there's so many of these games that like I just don't know who the fuck plays like and that's really the question like I'm not even talking about my own opinion but like like I see a
Starting point is 01:38:47 lot of these games get released or announced and it's like who the fuck even plays this shit like who even uh keeps up with this at all right rogue light showcase like anytime I hear about like there are things that make me turn my brain off with video games oh it's a California. Wow. Um, so, uh, L out of 10. Yeah, your opinion's not perfect. No, but like, here's the thing though, right? Is that, uh, let me mute this real quick. Uh, here's the thing, but like, I just want to see whenever these games come out. I want to see the player numbers for these games. I want to know how many people buy these games. Because like, there's so many examples of this whenever it comes out. And I don't even know who the fuck plays this shit.
Starting point is 01:39:29 Like, I really, I mean, I don't even know who the fuck plays it. And so, like, that's really the way I look at it. Time to look at some statistics. Yeah, exactly. It's like a game like this comes out. It's got like a thousand players. And then after that, it just kind of goes. And it's like you look at some of this bullshit. And I just based L out of 10. I mean, the game of this show, I mean, look, I mean, these shows are defined by their trailers. Like a lot of these trailers, like for a lot of these games, like I look at a game like this. Oh, somebody's getting sued by fucking. Nintendo there. Look at that. Y'all see that? Oh, this game is getting fucking canceled. And so anyway, yeah, basically the one out of ten, one point for the expanse, I'd say it's like a four. I'd say the show was a four. Like that would be my rating of the show. I mean, they didn't really have that many crazy good games. And some of the things like, I mean, that mafia, like clip was pretty cool. And there were a few games that looked decent. Like, let me go through and just kind of talk about it. And we're going to look at some of the.
Starting point is 01:40:32 these games first and i'ma just find it right and so uh give me a minute it's like laggy okay so like this the expanse game let me see if i can find that and pull it up like the expanse game looked decent right it looked fine uh then you've got this game here the echoes of the end uh i feel like this is echoes of the end of the studio that made this game i'm gonna be real like this didn't really look like that was that good and like the combat looked mediocre it had that same like this is like a weird like I know this sounds stupid and like it probably is stupid but like sometimes stupid things are true uh anytime i see that color of purple i think a game is going to be dog shit i do i think anytime i see that like there's a special purple that certain video games have
Starting point is 01:41:21 that i see that shit and i'm like wait a minute this is a bad game and like it's a good indicator yeah it's like this is the color you know how like they have poisonous snakes that are like uh you know like purple and green and shit. Well, there's like video games that are the same way. And so I just didn't really get a, I didn't really get a vibe out of that. Now, there was this game too. This is like kind of like that walking around
Starting point is 01:41:44 in a forest game like where you don't know what the fuck is going on. Like this seemed like a decent game. Like actually like I'm willing like I am invested enough in this interest to try to play more of it. The Seven Deadly Sends game, this, I mean, this just looks like your traditional fucking gotcha. Slop, anime character swap, you know, elemental damage, mastery,
Starting point is 01:42:08 Genshin-Shin-Impack, Wuthering Waves, Zinless Zone Zero, Hongai Star Rail, Azura Pramelia, fucking Arknights End Field. Like, I played these before, right? Tower of Fantasy, Hong Kai Impact, Third. I mean, we've been through this a lot. And so, like, really, I mean, it's a cool IP. I watched Seven Deadly Sends. I thought it was a good show.
Starting point is 01:42:32 but in some ways it was a good show. But, you know, I don't really know if this is going to be that exciting. And so anyway, you're being annoying as fuck right now. Okay, so everybody thinks I'm annoying. Everybody thinks I'm always wrong. But, like, I'm going to be real. How many times have I really been wrong about these games? Like, I've been wrong sometimes, right?
Starting point is 01:42:53 Like, I was wrong with a vow. I thought a vow was better than it was. But in general, I feel like I'm right with a lot of these games. And people might not like it, but I'm right. and I feel like I've got a pretty good a pretty good benchmark on this but let's see if I can find the rest of this
Starting point is 01:43:08 this Blumhouse game this sleep game was okay right is all right like okay that's nice and so I'm crying because what you're saying is true yeah true and anyway let's see if I pull the next one
Starting point is 01:43:20 like I mean it's again like I feel like this is one of the things I want to talk about is that I feel like so many video games now and it was like also this like Nordic fucking like this game is this a a game or a movie, bitch, you shouldn't even be asking that. Like, what do you mean? Is it a game or a
Starting point is 01:43:35 movie? Like, stop trying to be Hollywood. Stop trying to, like, I mean, people want to watch a movie. People want to play a game. They're going to play a game. And, like, this whole premise of, like, trying to make these video games into movies, like, the last of us did irreparable fucking damage to the video game industry, and we are still recovering from it just today. And so, like, I'm so tired of this shit. Exhibition 33 was a movie? Yeah, but, but it was also a game. And like, I feel like, again, like, if you look at the gameplay with that, it looked good. Like, with a lot of these games, it's kind of like basically they wanted to tell a story,
Starting point is 01:44:12 and they're using a video game to tell a story. And, like, I understand it, like, at its core, that doesn't sound like a bad thing. But I just feel like, again, like, I play video games to play video games. Like, and I think also a lot of these stories, I'm just going to say it. I'm going to just put it out there. I think they suck, bro. Like, I think they're boring. They're cliche, their repeats of other things.
Starting point is 01:44:36 Like, for every expedition 33, you got 50 flops. And so anyway, that's really, yeah, not a great take. Yeah. And, like, it's the same thing over and over, exactly. And so, like, many people like that. But, like, where are they? Because, like, that's what I'm always wondering about. Because, like, when these games get announced,
Starting point is 01:44:55 like, I remember I said this about fucking life is strange. and like they made this new game and I was like nobody's going to play this and people were like no it's got a fan base and it came out and nobody played it and so like when I hear about like where are all these fans of these games I don't know where they are and so like I don't know like it feels like a lot of times like this is just the way that I feel is that these games in a lot of these cases end up being it's almost like the developers make them for themselves and not necessarily the audience but like that in a bad way. Like, that can be a good thing sometimes, but it's a bad thing in other times. This being inspired by stalker, I don't know what the fuck you're talking about, right? And so anyway, they have kids, like, I guess, but I just don't understand it. Like, and so, Genshin Impact Story is a basic gameplay. I don't know. Life is strange told enough, but it got bought out. I'm talking about the newer games, right? Like, usually, like, and this is the problem, is that, like, you can have, like, a first draft of something
Starting point is 01:45:57 or like a first like hit of a game and it's really, really good. And then you have like a studio that keeps trying to recreate that success or the studio goes and they like other studios go and try to copy it. And I think that's what happens a lot. And that's kind of been the expectation I've had. Like I mean, this game, for example, like this is kind of what I'm trying to get at is like this game, I mean, it didn't look amazing, right? This game looks like it came out in 2013.
Starting point is 01:46:24 But at least it's a fucking video game, right? and I just get exhausted by watching all of these movie games, man. I'm watching all these movie games, and it's like the movie isn't even that interesting to me. And so that's really the way I feel about it. Don't I empty? Yeah, and like a lot of this, it's just, I don't know. I just don't, like, maybe I'm just being a negative little bitch.
Starting point is 01:46:46 But like, and I'm curious, like, you guys, like, how many of y'all feel the same way I'm feeling about this, right? Because, like, that's where I'm at. That's what I'm thinking. Like, out of the blue, this is some other bullshit. shit like what's this oh this game actually looks kind of cool this game i like i like this game i like like this game kind of like fall guys a few other like weird uh you know ideas uh this like dungeon like auditing game looked kind of interesting it's like quirky it's not something i'd be
Starting point is 01:47:11 interested in playing it's like even this like wifu game bro this shit this looked like dog shit this look like trash like really i mean just look at this like what the fuck is this what is this strenova at home like what the fuck there's been like four of these games that have come out and none of the games that are even come out are any good, and then you have this shit come out, and it's even worse. And so anyway, I just go and I look at that too. It's because you're a wow, Andy. No, I'm telling you, like, everybody, no, no, no, no.
Starting point is 01:47:38 Everybody goes and acts like I'm wrong about this shit. Well, let's wait, let's take this shit. I'm ready to take this shit to the bank. Let's take it to the bank. Let's wait whenever these games come out. Let's see who's playing them. Let's see who we're going to play these games. Let's see who actually gives a fuck about them.
Starting point is 01:47:52 Because everybody go and act like, oh, oh, oh, oh. No, no, that's not it. I've been playing new games all the fucking time. But it's just not like this. That's it. You're wrong? You're just not the audience? But who is?
Starting point is 01:48:05 And that's my point. It's like, I hear these games get made for this mythical audience. But this mythical audience never materializes. I never see it. I never see this audience. Like, that's the thing. It's like, where are they? Pole?
Starting point is 01:48:23 No, I don't want a poll. Why the fuck did I want a poll? I want to see a player chart No, I want to see a player chart I don't care what somebody votes I care what somebody buys Bro, every game doesn't need to be a 10K player start But in a way it does
Starting point is 01:48:38 Because like you have a big game like this That's made with Unreal Unreal 5 engine graphics It's got cutscenes designed for it And you put all this money into it You better be selling 10,000 fucking copies Or you're going broke And that's my whole point
Starting point is 01:48:54 is like, who the fuck buys these games? And that's the point. Like, this, bro, like, defend this. Defend this. Bro, bro. This is, GameCube was better than this. Fucking F0GX blows this out of the water. This shit looks like, like, this isn't a bargain bin.
Starting point is 01:49:14 Buy four, get one free at like fucking blockbuster movies, pre-owned video games. Like, this is some shit. you get in a, a fucking, like a cereal box. They couldn't even get Verizon. They had to use Horizon. I mean, bro, this game's so bad it can't even have sponsors. Look at this. Like, this shit's garbage, bro.
Starting point is 01:49:45 How do you, like, I just, this is just another one of the same thing, another one of the same games. Like, maybe it would be all right. Maybe not. I don't know. And let's see here Difference than Successful on a Good Video Game Well let's go back I see if I can find this
Starting point is 01:50:00 This one looked good Like this This one looked real good And I like this You know talking about duty and honor And you know Like this looked like a game That's actually made for gamers
Starting point is 01:50:10 Right This is some bullshit Like I don't know I don't know what the fuck this is I'm just gonna skip it I don't even want to look at that What about this? What's this game?
Starting point is 01:50:18 Oh yeah This is that scum game Yeah maybe that's all right I don't know Like that one seemed decent and which game was this again and then oh yeah yeah let's see let me look at this again
Starting point is 01:50:29 so I pulled this up this dinosaur game like I mean I just how do you expect developers to build a portfolio I just like Asmon name one good game Eldon ring I've named one good game
Starting point is 01:50:51 like see chatters the thing is chatters are chatting right now but I'm telling you these Steam charts are not going to lie. Not every game needs to be
Starting point is 01:51:04 Eldon Ring. I didn't say it had to be Eldon Ring. What about mouthwashing? That was a good game. That was a great game. That was a small game, right? Fucking Schedule 1. That was a good game.
Starting point is 01:51:16 I don't think that it's necessarily like that. The problem is like a lot of these games, I just think they're, I just think they're mid, and I just don't really see this is the world that I'm in. I don't see how.
Starting point is 01:51:30 how somebody makes a financial decision to purchase this video game over the other 50 video games in the market right now that in my opinion, my opinion, are infinitely more fucking appealing. That's the way I feel. Really? That's where I'm at. And so anyway, the doll game is interesting. Oh, the one at the end? Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:51:57 Let me go back. I'll see if I find a hell is us. This game looked pretty good. I mean the dude talking about it was rambling and going off on some bullshit but like that was all right. I'll play this when it comes out, definitely. This game, like, you look at this game. Like, look at this. This is all right.
Starting point is 01:52:12 But like, really, I just, I wonder like who's actually going to buy and play this shit. And like, really, who's going to buy and play this shit? And so nobody, right? I mean, like, like, and that's the thing. Where are they? Where are? I want to know where they are. Because I don't.
Starting point is 01:52:30 fucking see him anywhere. I don't see him fucking anywhere. I don't see them on Steam. I don't see them on YouTube. I don't see them on Twitch. I don't see them on Twitter. I don't see them anywhere. And so low IQ logic right now? Wait a minute. So are you saying that me by judging interest in a game is not a frame of reference for looking at interest in a game? What I'm saying is that a lot of these games, I just don't really think that they have an audience for them, right? They get no motion. don't have people talking about them a lot. And that's it. Where's someone who buys this shit?
Starting point is 01:53:04 Yeah, exactly. Games are also actually for kids. No, bro. You, you, what did y'all remember? What were y'all trying to play whenever you was a kid? What are y'all trying to play whenever you were kid? You're trying to play this bullshit? Fuck, no, you're not trying to play this bullshit.
Starting point is 01:53:17 You're trying to play it. Like, kids now are playing Fortnite. They're playing among us after probably not. I went. Grand Deft Auto, Pokemon. Like, they're not going to play this garbage. This shit's, no, absolutely fucking not. And so, like, that's, yeah,
Starting point is 01:53:30 I mean, like, this whole idea that, like, you just make a bunch of these, like, soft millennial fucking therapy games and there's going to be an army of eight-year-olds that are going to buy it up, fuck, even they don't believe it. It's not even releasing for the switch. So, no, I don't fucking think so. Absolutely not. I wouldn't, I wouldn't be the vast majority of these games about my niece and nephews and my son grew up, doesn't care for the new games at all. Yeah. Like, I mean, like, I don't know what kids play. Like, I know.
Starting point is 01:53:57 So there was, let's see, in. At Christmas, like, I was over at my dad's friend's house, and he has a grandson, and you know what he plays? He plays Fortnite. I remember this kid spent $200. $200 in V-bucks, I swore to God, in three minutes. Bro, that shit was gone. Like, I have never, like, that's some crazy ass shit. Like, he bawled the fuck out.
Starting point is 01:54:21 Like, he had that shit locked in, planned out, and it was gone and done and tap the fuck out. And so, really, Jesus, yes, and that was fast. And so anyway, like, I look at this. Like, for example, this game looked decent, right? This is the Expedition 3.3, a game like, that one looked all right. This one, this fucking, I just like, I just, I don't know where they're at. I don't know where they're at. I don't.
Starting point is 01:54:54 I don't know. Where are these players? Where are these players? And that's the thing. And so, like, kids can play games too? kids don't want to play games that are made for kids. Most of the time they want to play cool games that everybody else is playing. Like, Fortnite and Eldon Ring.
Starting point is 01:55:14 Like, you think a fucking 7-year-old, 8-year-old, like, there's plenty of kids trying to play Eldon Ring. This whole premise that, like, oh, it's okay to make a retarded-ass bullshit millennial therapy game because there's kids that are going... You think a kid wants to buy a therapy game? Fuck no, he doesn't want to buy a therapy. Absolutely not. And yes, I'm crashing out.
Starting point is 01:55:38 I am. Somebody got to fucking say it.
