This week marks a whole new chapter for us. We have the first eclipse in Ares that's happened near the North Node in a couple of decades.
And we also have Mercury beginning its retrograde journey. This is the initiation of eclipse season. It's the initiation of brand new eclipses.
And it is a reversal of something because Mercury is.
is stationing retrograde. So it feels a little bit like a collision course, a crash course,
something that is antithetical to itself. The eclipse wants us to move. It is high octane energy,
and Mercury Retrograde wants us to slow all the way down. So there's two things happening at
once. They are definitely conflicting. It's going to cause some mayhem, and it's going to give
us a couple of very steep learning curves, but the learning will be well worth it, I promise.
In this podcast, we look at the astrology of the upcoming week and how it will be landing
for all of us collectively. For a more personalized reading that dives into the ways that this
week's astrology will play out for you, download the Chani app for iPhone.
This is the astrology of the week ahead, and I'm your host.
Chani, Nicholas. All right, y'all, we can always look at the year by eclipses. When are eclipse
is happening? Eclipses will happen in groups, usually of two, and they'll occur every six months.
So they have this way of defining the year. It's like, okay, this is one eclipse portal. We get the
info, we learn the lessons, and then we move into another eclipse portal six months apart. Thank goodness,
because we don't need more than that.
If they wanted to give us less, then maybe that would also be fun.
But here we are.
This is our first eclipse season of 2022.
And again, it's the first eclipse we've had in Aries like this for a long time.
So the part of your chart that contains Aries is going to be really impacted by this.
It's already been impacted by a lot of really positive astrology, to be honest.
And eclipses aren't really positive or negative, although people might argue with me on that one.
But they are something that is activating.
Eclipses stir us into action.
They create openings and closings, beginnings and endings.
Again, they're usually little portals into a time period where very important things happen that have to do with where where
those eclipses are occurring in our chart. So again, you really want to know where this is going on for you.
And you can do that by downloading the Chani app and listening to your weekly reading, by reading your
horoscope, either your daily horoscope or your monthly horoscope for airy season. It'll tell you
something about where this eclipse is happening for you. That's on our website, channing.com,
or again, on the app underneath the current sky horoscopes. But all that to say,
eclipses just seem to catapult us into something into again this one means new new direction new course of
action and because it's in aries it's very action oriented and not only that but it's in aries near the
north node and the north node is a point of increase and hunger and you know if any sign's going to be
hungry or active, it's Ares. Aries is like very much a sign of desire and of being compelled
forward and of acting without necessarily thinking too much. It's really, you know, goes on its own
passion and on its own kind of understanding of what to do next. So it feels like this is going to
again, stir a lot of activity and it's going to probably create desire.
to take action. I'm not saying that you should or shouldn't. Technically on the day, on the moment of the
eclipse, again, the eclipse happens Wednesday, the 19th at 9.13 p.m. Pacific time. I wouldn't do anything at
that time or a couple hours surrounding that time. I wouldn't choose that moment in time to launch
anything. I wouldn't even choose the days that the moon will be in Aries as a time to do something
because it's a time where the light of the sun is being eclipsed by the moon. And so once that
clears, we're good to go. And it's interesting because this eclipse is happening at the very last
moment of Aries. The eclipse happens at 9.13 p.m. and then a couple hours later, the sun enters Taurus on
the 20th of April. So it's like there's this new eclipse. It's happening at the very end of
Aries and it's like packed with so much energy and it's packed with so much potency. So again,
those feelings of beginnings and endings culminating all at once seem to be exaggerated
with this eclipse especially. And this eclipse is also in a square.
technically to Pluto. And that square will be felt Wednesday and Thursday. What that means is
there's extra intensity into this eclipse, to this moment. So there's extra potency, intensity,
and kind of like heft to the decisions that you make or to the events that occur. So they might
feel extra defining and they might also feel all the more consequential, right? Like there's times
where we're like, oh, well, this isn't really going to have that much of a consequence if I go left or go
right. And then there's times where you're like, oh, this is a huge deal. I'm choosing one thing
and therefore I'm really not choosing the other. And you might feel that with this eclipse, that sense of
having to make a decision, that sense of being like, I'm going to actively move towards this thing.
This is a new direction. This is a new story. This is a new situation. And I'm in it and I have to remember
my power and I have to remember to act from a place of yes, integrity, but also my own intuitive
knowing and move with a sense of conviction if there is that kind of change.
choice that presents itself. It's also a time that could be really rife with a lot of power
struggles. So you might notice that coming up in your relationships, in your industry, in the
world at large, maybe in your own kind of professional life. You might notice like, oh, man,
this feels like a little bit of a standstill. And that's because Pluto has just moved into
Aquarius, which never budges. And the sun will perfect the square to Pluto once it's in
Taurus, another fixed sign. Again, a sign that is a mountain, a boulder, a massive landmass that you
can't budge. It won't budge. So it does feel like we come up against something through this week
that feels really substantial in terms of the obstacle or in terms of the power dynamic that's at
play. And then on Friday, Mercury Station's retrograde. So you know what that's about. That's about
realizing all the things that you did wrong and that you didn't see in the first place and that we
missed the first time around and we got to like pause, go back and be like, oh my goodness,
I can't even believe that was about to go out. You know, and you like go to send an email and
then you're like, oh yeah, it's totally fine. Maybe I should wait for a second and read it again
tomorrow morning and then you read it again the next morning and it doesn't even make sense.
Mercuritragrade. You know, like this mercury retrograde is going to be in Taurus. So Taurus is a very
practical, pragmatic sign. It wants to know what works, what doesn't work, and how to build with the
resources at hand. So if we're reviewing that, if we're reviewing something and the nature of it or the
style of it is Torrian, then we're like, okay, in the most practical sense possible, what works in
my life, what doesn't? What are my skills? How am I putting them to use? And
what about that is giving me results that I like? Like, how is this skill cultivating a beautiful
orchard that is resplendent and abundant and full of fantastic fruit? Like, Taurus wants to know
that its efforts are going to bear beautiful results that lead to a lot of pleasure and
leisure. So this particular Mercury retrograde
the more practical you can get, the better.
Really looking at the nuts and bolts of everything that you're working on or the nuts and bolts of the systems of your life and being like, okay, I got to move this thing here.
Like literally, what can I literally do to figure out how to work this in a way that seems sustainable and eventually really productive, right?
Taurus wants to produce. And so it's not about like producing for the machine. It's not about being a
cog in the wheel. It's about saying like if I have this tree that can bear fruit, how can I work with it?
How can I create conditions for it to thrive so that there is a natural like production of
sustenance? And so you want to look at your life and especially look at the part of your chart that Mercury is retrograding
through and pay attention to how things are thriving or not and what you could do
on a really practical level to create a situation where things might be able to thrive,
much more easily at least.
So the thing with eclipses and eclipse seasons, especially when they align with mercury
retrogrades, which they have been for a while, is that they tend to stir up a lot.
And what they stir up a lot of is our shadow material.
So the stuff we want to ignore, the stuff we want to push away, the stuff that we don't want to claim, the stuff we want to pretend isn't there, in ourselves, in our relationships, and in our collective.
So this is a time that reveals things that have been otherwise obscured or hidden. And there's kind of a way that both Mercury retrograde and eclipses do that.
Eclipses do that by literal shadows, by literally creating shadows.
And if we think of the sky as a reflection of our experience here on Earth, then when things get shadowy up there, then we're going to start to notice the things that are more shadowy down here.
And because this eclipse is square Pluto, and Pluto deals with what happens undercover and underneath the surface and in ways that are often covered.
up by the systems that we live within, there's a good possibility that we're going to be
dealing with that kind of shadowy material. And then Mercury retrograde has that kind of feel
because Mercury goes in this underworld journey. When it stations retrograde, it's a very
bright night star, right? Mercury can be seen just after the sun sets, very bright in the night sky.
And then after a little while, it goes invisible.
And then by the end of the Mercury retrograde, it pops up as a morning star, a very bright, beautiful morning star.
And it was thought by the ancients that that was because Mercury went into the underworld for a section of time, a couple of weeks, and had to come back up and be, in a sense, reborn.
So there's this feeling of underworld trips and journeys, adventures, if you will, with the Mercury retrograde.
And there's this sense of understanding our own shadow or what gets obscured in normal life and what gets revealed during eclipse times with eclipses.
And then we add in that really potent square to Pluto.
And here we are.
You know, there's a feeling of something deep being revealed, something being excavated, something being returned to, and something needing to be retrieved as well.
So it's a new storyline. It's a steep learning curve. It is a reveal of something. It's an uncovering of something. And it is hopefully a retrieval of some part of self and maybe some part of our need for collective,
well-being. All right, y'all, it's always our recommendation at the Chaniap to lay low during
eclipse season. You might feel a little extra kind of wound by this eclipse because it's happening in
Aries and Jupiter is still in Aries and there's a lot of fire and energy in this sign. So you might not
have the easiest time laying low, but again, I wouldn't use the week. I wouldn't use the surrounding
days around the eclipse to do something big and also Mercury Stationing retrograde. So it's a really
good time to do a little less of moving things forward and to do a little bit more of reviewing,
of writing, of editing, of parsing through information and of retrieving something from the past
or retrieving the energy that gets stored when we push things into the unconscious and when we push
things into that, we could say like shadow self, right? The shadow self is just holding the aspects of
selves that we've not been able to make conscious or not quite understood. So what happens,
what energy gets released when we're able to turn towards the things we've turned away from.
That might be a piece of what this eclipse brings. And then again, also paying attention to where
the eclipse is happening and where Mercury is stationing retrograde in your chart.
Because both of those parts of your life, but especially the area of your chart that contains
Ares, is getting this really big potent activation.
And like we said in the beginning, it might present you with a choice or with a kind of turn of
events with an ending and a beginning because of that very potent square to Pluto.
Thank you all so much for leaving reviews and the apps.
store, we appreciate it endlessly. I wanted to share one with you called Glory, Glory,
hallelujah. I could go on in paragraphs about how this app has changed my life, especially as I enter
my Saturn return in Pisces this year. I literally recommend it to every spiritual or otherwise
that I know. The in-depth look at one's own personal chart can truly help you obtain the best
day as possible. Thank you, Chani. Thank you Chani team. Keep up a fantastic work. Blessed
to be. Sending you, lots of love, rest up, take really good care of yourselves, ground your
energy when you can. Ground yourself when you can. North Node eclipses tend to whip us up,
so we want to bring the energy down into our feet down towards the earth. Take care. Lots of love.
Bye for now.
