Episode 280In this podcast, New York Times best-selling author and astrologer Chani Nicholas discusses the astrology of the week and what it might mean for us all.The astrology of the week of April 27...th, 2026, is transformative, to say the least. The Scorpio Full Moon reveals the harsh truths we have to face if we want to grow. And as Venus trines Pluto, squares the lunar nodes, and sextiles Saturn, we’re encouraged to not only build meaningful connections but ground into the power of those relationships. Plus, Mercury’s conjunction with Chiron brings our hurts to the surface and pushes us to have the tough (but necessary) conversations so we can heal. It may seem heavy, but showing up with courage and commitment now will help us unlock the change we need most. This episode covers:Venus’ trine to Pluto on Tuesday, April 28thVenus’ square to the lunar nodes on Wednesday, April 29thThe Full Moon in Scorpio on Friday, May 1stVenus’ sextile to Saturn on Friday, May 1stMercury’s conjunction with Chiron on Friday, May 1stMercury’s entrance into Taurus on Saturday, May 2ndThis episode was recorded on 04/20/2026.For more, check out your free daily horoscope on the homepage of the CHANI app — now on iOS and Android. The music featured in the podcast was created by Latashá.

Starting point is 00:00:00 I really do think over the next seven days, we are going to be faced with a big piece of news. Something will be revealed. Something will be leaving. Something will be going. Something will be ending. We are going to come to a kind of peak moment that is going to shine a spotlight on all that's been happening under the surface. I know, just like you, I'm like, how much more can we? actually witness at this point. I think we have enough evidence that everything is rotting in the structures that this world is built upon. And now it's just time to move fastly and furiously towards the compost heap, which I think is exactly what this week is going to help us do. Hello and welcome. This is the astrology of the week ahead podcast. I'm your host,
Starting point is 00:00:57 your Astro Bestie, Chani, Nicholas. And in this podcast, we are looking at the astrology for the week of April 27th. And that's what we do here. We look at what is happening astrologically in the next seven days. And we think about how we might best work with the energies, the situations, the structures, the realities we find ourselves in. And this is still really tough stuff. On April 20th, the day I'm recording this, I'm not that far in the past.
Starting point is 00:01:30 I'm really, really up close, April 20th. We have the Saturn, Mars, and Mercury conjunction. And oh my goodness, the amount of violence that has been exposed and also enacted in these last couple of days is nothing short of completely devastating and dehumanizing. And it just leaves me in a place where I'm not even sure how to talk about it. just so much has been enacted. And there are so many things that men are doing right now and that is being exposed that men do. That is just a, it's a wonder that we're still here. It's a wonder that we're still all walking around. And I know a lot of people say, we're not angry enough.
Starting point is 00:02:24 And I understand that sentiment. And I just want to push back a little bit on it because I think we are angry enough, but I think that we're not taught how to feel our anger and that the anger that we feel, the rage that we feel is actually sometimes a little too much on the nervous system to actually feel definitely all at once, but even a little bit at a time. And so I just want to say, I know you know this, but this is a time where so much about the violent systems we live within is being exposed and unveiled and looked at and is proliferating also at a rapid kind of rate that we have to, you know, find ways to care for our nervous systems and care for our bodies because all the things that we read, imagine this, all the things that
Starting point is 00:03:23 you take in, every piece of information that you read that is like, oh, This other horrible thing happened. This man did this horrible thing. This man started this war. This thing is happening. Has been happening forever. This is just how it goes on. Everything that we are taking in, everything we're reading, everything we're hearing, everything we're saying to each other has to come through the body. It lands in the body somewhere. It lands in the nervous system somewhere. And so we have to find ways to help ourselves not be pacified because, again, we don't want to let these things pass us by. We need to make sure that we're like, the Epstein files are the opening for us to take this whole thing down. The RAPE Academy is a gateway to take a whole thing down. This knows no race,
Starting point is 00:04:25 no class. It knows gender, but it doesn't know, you know, intimate partner violence knows no bounds. Gender-based violence knows no bounds. Sexual violence knows no bounds. It happens everywhere. Name an institution. It happens there. Name somebody in power. See what they do about it. How are they countering it? If we are not being traitors to any kind of privilege that we hold, we are being accomplices to the ways in which it engenders more and more violence. And I think that is like the ultimate truth that all of these different things are exposing about the same intricate web of supremacist systems. And I'm saying all this because, again, we're just coming off of some really hard astrology,
Starting point is 00:05:19 and I'm not going to lie to you, we have a full moon and Scorpio on deck this week. and a full moon in Scorpio is going to keep revealing the horrors that persist. I also do think it would be an interesting week for some things to end, for some things to come to a close, for some people to lose their positions of power. I don't know who, but Scorpio loves a whole death and rebirth kind of motif. So it'll be interesting to see if something comes to a close this week, not because I think full moons are connected to endings. I actually think they're the peak moments in a cycle. They are a peak moment in the cycle. But this is a full moon in Scorpio. It's square Pluto. And it just so
Starting point is 00:06:05 happens that the sun is just a couple of degrees away from the goddess asteroid series, which is connected mythologically speaking to Pluto. Series is the goddess of the grain. Her daughter, Persephone gets stolen, abducted by Pluto or Hades, taken into the underworld. It's a whole mythological situation that is about death and rebirth. It is about endings and new beginnings. And that is what Scorpio is about. And that is what Pluto is about. And so I just think that there might be something that happens this week that is like, oh, it's gone or something gets abducted or something gets taken. And then something new comes and is reborn. For you and me and everybody we know, this will definitely be a full moon, aka a week, where we are
Starting point is 00:07:03 extra emotional, where things are extra heightened, where feelings are brought to the surface, illuminated, that can usually just remain underground. I think this will be a dramatic week. I think Scorpio is a sign that moves really slowly and moves in secret and isn't trying to cause a scene, but when something occurs in this sign, it will land in such a deep and profound way that it will actually mark us and change something about us, about how we're doing things, about how we're relating to a situation or a subject. Before we get to the full moon on Tuesday, Venus, newly in Gemini, just met up with Uranus. So just had a chaotic, feel-good, flirty kind of moment is now making a trine with Pluto in Aquarius. This is a very power to the people kind of signature. This is very much a moment where we'll want to be talking about unions and about people and what brings us together.
Starting point is 00:08:16 It is very conversational. And it does want to talk about collectives of people and how we are moving in new and different ways. And then on Wednesday, Venus makes a square to the nodes. So there might be some sort of decision that we're making on Wednesday. There might be some sort of direction that we're taking. There might be something that feels like a little bit of a crossroads, like an important moment to consider, am I missing something? Where am I going in this really? where am I taking this art project? Where am I going with this union? Or is this not a union that can move through the turbulence and move through the changes that are needed? Then on Thursday, the moon moves into Scorpio and we are in full moon territory and the full moon occurs on May 1st.
Starting point is 00:09:11 Now May 1st just happens to be May Day. So we were having a full moon in Scorpio. On May Day. Now, obviously, May 1st is a really important day. Historically speaking, this is a day that is about labor rights. And again, labor rights and unions are all things that are facilitated by Venus. Venus is a planet that is about unions. So anytime we're talking about people coming together, we want to know what Venus is up to. And Venus is up to some really important things this week. Again, Venus makes a trine to Pluto on Tuesday makes a square to the nodes. So we are having a very important moment collectively in terms of our unions and how we gather. And then on Friday, on May 1st, Venus makes a sexile to Saturn, newly in Ares. And so Venus is picking up on this
Starting point is 00:10:04 really new energy. These planets have newly moved into these signs. And Venus is saying, like, hey, let's do this a different way. Let's talk about how we are gathering. And then to have a full moon in Scorpio, which is, yes, about death and rebirth and loss and regeneration, but it's also about power. And to have it fall on May 1st, where a lot of people will be saying, this is about our collective power. And it is about putting working families before profits, people over profits, people before billionaires, and it is about protecting our civil and human rights. And we have these long histories of labor movements to fall back on, to look back to, to be in partnership with as a way of falling inside of a long and deep lineage and history of
Starting point is 00:11:05 resistance. So I think it's really potent that the full moon falls on May Day. It's also, of course, Beltaim, which is a cross-quarter day, meaning that it's a day that falls between an equinox and the solstice. And this is a day where the energy is building towards the peak heat of summer. So it is a really joyous kind of occasion. And it is a time where we start to see the impact of our efforts. If you planted seeds on the winter solstice, if you planted seeds of intention at that darkest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, then this is one of those moments where we look and see, like, is my seedling growing? Am I starting to see life? It's also a day to focus on frolicking and having a really good time. So whether you're at a protest,
Starting point is 00:11:59 whether you are taking part in some kind of community celebration, I think the roots and the origins of this day run really deep. And both of them are about reclaiming our sovereignty and our connection with each other, with the natural worlds, and with our own dignity. It's really hard to feel like we have any kind of dignity when we are disassociated from our bodies. That's why we need to have workers' rights, obviously, and also from the earth. And that's what Beltane helps us to remember or reconnect with. So whatever you're doing on May 1st, know that it is an intense full moon that is here to help us to reestablish our connection with our deepest feelings, with our power, and also, again, with the natural world, because it'll be a beautiful full moon in the sky. And so
Starting point is 00:12:59 there'll just be a heightened amount of activity come the end of the week and through the weekend. The other thing that happens on Friday is that Mercury and Chiron make a conjunction. Now, a lot of things have been bumping up against Chiron and Mars is next to do so because Chiron is in Aries and we had all of those planets move through areas and we still, again, have a couple. This week, on the full moon, we have Mercury lining up with Chiron. And this is about speaking to the wound. So this is about the fact that no matter how much we know, no matter how much we
Starting point is 00:13:40 theorize and understand the state of the world and the reasons why we're living inside of so many violence systems and why so much violence is erupting seemingly every day all the time. No matter how much we understand that, we can teach about it, we can write about it, we can do a lot of things about it from an intellectual perspective. But unless we understand how it actually, actually lands in our body, that every time we retell and recount these stories, that it is a somatic experience that we are reliving, that we are recounting, and that our bodies are impacted
Starting point is 00:14:19 by everything that is happening in the world and everything that has happened to us historically. Because as we all know, again, we can know this, we know that the violence that gets enacted in the world today has always been in our lifetimes, at least, in our parents' lifetimes, in our grandparents' lifetimes, in our great-grandparents' lifetimes. And no matter which side of it we've been on and our lineage has been on, it's impacted us. This is not new. And so quite likely the things you're reading about and I'm reading about in the papers and online has a lot of it.
Starting point is 00:15:03 also happened to me, to you at some point in your life and in my life. And my body holds the memory of that, as does yours. And so every time we come across, again, another example of why we shouldn't be living in the systems we're living in, we have to hold that sematically somewhere. And we also have a connection to the memory of the first time, the second time, the 20th time, we made contact with that knowledge, with that pattern, with that experience. It might have been 30 years ago, but I experienced it. It might have been 50 years ago, but you experienced it. And when we hear about it again, unless we've evolved beyond being human,
Starting point is 00:15:56 it's information that comes through and has to be filtered through our body and our nervous system. And so all these things bumping into Chiron over the last couple of weeks, all these planets, they're not things, they're planets or planetary bodies or the sun, the moon, etc. We just had a Chiron Kazimi. That reminds us this all has to come through the vehicle. our physical vehicle, our longest, oldest, dearest friend, our body, the thing that brought us into the world and will also be the last thing we say goodbye to on this planet is our body. It is the thing that is always here for us.
Starting point is 00:16:45 And so many of us are taught to hate it and to loathe it and to be disconnected from it or worse, make it perfect, make it do things that it do things that it doesn't want to do, overwork it, undernourish it, undercare for it, or overcare for it so that we look a certain way, but not so that we feel a certain way. All that to say, on Friday, May 1st, Chiron and Mercury come together. And I just think it's really important to remember the body. And this is about a conversation about our physical needs and the ways in which our body is the vehicle through which our spirit gets to do everything. Our body is the ways in which we create everything.
Starting point is 00:17:35 Our body is the ways in which I get to experience everything. If I didn't have the body, I don't know what I would be. I would be some sort of energetic thing floating around, being part of maybe the universe. But this body gives me a very specific human experience. and everything that we go through in the world impacts it. And I know that I am way up in my head most of the time, flying around on the internet, in my books, online, in my recordings, talking, talking, talking, but it's my body that's keeping the score of all of this. And so there's something on Friday that lands us back in that knowledge and in that wisdom.
Starting point is 00:18:26 and it is wisdom, but it also needs our attention. And then on Saturday, Mercury moves in to Taurus, which might help us to slow down a little bit. All right. Now it's time for a question from the audience. Hi, Cheney. I have a question about difficult transitions. I wanted to know how you prepare for things that are especially lighting up your chart and seem to be challenging transitions. It's just in the mundane world, too. Does it make a difference if I look at this with fear
Starting point is 00:19:04 or with maybe an excitement for a breakthrough? Thank you. Bye. Yes, we should always remember that however we look at things, colors what they are. It impacts what it is, right? So if I look at something with a lot of fear, I'm going to be looking at something that is scary. I'm going to be looking at something as if it's a monster or as if it's something to fear. If I look at something as a invitation to get curious about how this thing will impact me, then that could be a gateway into understanding what it actually is. I always say don't read into the astro, read out of it. Don't read into the astrology. Don't assume that you know what it is. Don't assume that you even understand what your chart is saying about your life. There's some key points that we can be like,
Starting point is 00:19:59 okay, yes, that is correct. And that's how that impacts me. And that is the area of life I want to go towards. But let it also be a mystery. So when you see really difficult transits coming up for you or what you would consider difficult, like, you know, a Mars, you're in a situation, doesn't look very kind or easy or soft. A Mars Saturn situation doesn't look so easy or kind or soft. A Pluto situation doesn't always look like it's going to be a joy ride. And maybe it's not going to be. But that doesn't mean it's bad.
Starting point is 00:20:36 And it certainly doesn't mean what I'm projecting onto it. And I think if the astrology leaves you feeling afraid or feeling like you should be afraid, then it might be time to put it down for a minute and just focus on what you can do. Now, that doesn't mean that I don't see difficult transits coming up for me and get afraid myself because I'm human. Of course I do. But I always have to remember that some of the most difficult astrology brings about the most potent, powerful life-altering results. You know, my wife always reminds me of this. Like every time I see something coming, I'm like, oh, no, you know, what's that going to happen? And she's always like, you know what? I like that aspect. I like this
Starting point is 00:21:24 really difficult kind of thing. Now, if you have a signature in your chart that's really challenging, which most of us do, you know, most of us have some kind of challenging aspect in our chart, that doesn't mean something is bad. It means something is challenging. But you might also notice that when that challenging quote unquote signature comes back around, you thrive because you figured out how to thrive through it in your own life. You know what I mean? We all come from different experiences. And so when we go out into the world and we re-experience something that is familiar to us, we can be like, yeah, that's not great, but I'm not surprised. But when I don't know something and something's really foreign to me and I experience it, I can misread it. I can misread it.
Starting point is 00:22:11 it. I can misunderstand it. I can project all kinds of things onto it that aren't true because I'm in my fear mind. I can miss the opportunity that it's actually bringing me because I'm too preoccupied with why something's bad. Now, I'm not saying that bad things, absolutely bad things don't happen to us because they do. That's life. That's this world. It's all out of our control to a large degree. But I am saying that the astrology happens in patterns, but every time it happens, it's a little bit different. Like maybe Mars and Saturn are in the same situation as they were last time something was hard, but Mercury will be in a different situation. The moon will be in a different situation. It's not always exactly the same. So I think it's important to come at every
Starting point is 00:22:59 challenging moment of astrology, knowing that not all the particulars are in the same situation. There are new actors, there are new things that are going on. There are new elements that we are also working with and blending in. And we're older and we're wiser. And for the most part, we've got this. You know, for the most part, for most situations in life, we're going to figure out how to move through it. And we're going to find a way to learn from it. And that is the most important thing because I've wasted a lot of time in my life fearing things.
Starting point is 00:23:41 And I look back and think, my God, I could have just tried to learn from it. Sure, it wasn't enjoyable, but it didn't end up nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. And not just talking about astrology. I'm talking about situations with friends or family members or people or housing situations or job situations. So if you can think back on your life and think about how many things you feared that you didn't need to fear, how many things you worried about, that you didn't need to worry about, how many things you misconstrued because you just didn't know any better yet, and realize that you could be doing the same thing with upcoming astrology.
Starting point is 00:24:21 And I could too. We all can, right? So it's all about being like, okay, what is this going to be? We are all so vulnerable, you know, like we are human beings. We were vulnerable to a lot of different elements and a lot of different things. And we construct these lives that try to make us invulnerable, but we're not. And so looking at the astrology can sometimes make us feel like, oh, no, how am I going to control this? And the point is that we don't.
Starting point is 00:24:50 We show up for it and we see what it is. And that takes a lot of courage and a lot of intention and a lot of. and a lot of skill building, right? We have to build skill to be able to do that. But we can, and I think that's what we need to do. Especially when we're engaged with an art form, a wisdom tradition, that tries to look into the future. Its whole thing is prediction.
Starting point is 00:25:15 I mean, that is what astrology is. It's about looking at the quality of time we're living through and trying to figure out how to best manage it. So I say all that to say is like it's a very human thing. I do it, you do it, we all do it. We'll all try to help ourselves and each other, not do it as much. All right, y'all, I'm sending you so much love, so many blessings. I do think this full moon will be big, it will be revealing, it will be an exclamation point. I think most full moons feel like eclipses in a lot of ways. I think this one will.
Starting point is 00:25:54 I think it'll feel like it has put us through the ringer in some way, shape, or form. Again, that doesn't mean it's bad. It just means that it is going to definitely have its way with us. And so we have to just be like, okay, I'm willing to be transformed by this moment. Come back next week because we'll talk about the fact that after this full moon, we have a moment of absolute triumph. We have a Mars square Jupiter. we are going to win. And that's also a part of the sentiment that I want us to go into this full moon
Starting point is 00:26:30 with. Yes, we're going to have to go on an underworld journey. Yes, we're going to have to go through a process. But when we get out the other side of it, we are in a position of power. And we are in a situation where strategically we can see how we can win. And that's where I ultimately want to focus. So come back next week and we'll talk more about that then. Bye for now.
