Starting point is 00:00:00 When I'm looking at the astrology of the year, I'm looking for two things. I'm looking for moments that seem optimally good. And I'm also looking for moments that pose an incredible challenge for us all. When I'm looking for the helpful astrology, I'm looking for things that involve Jupiter and Venus. When I'm looking for challenging astrology, it's a little more complicated. But two of the planets, I always have my eye on are Saturn and Mars. And this month, we have both a really challenging Saturn Mars aspect and a really beautiful yet complicated Venus Jupiter aspect. April is a mixed bag of blessings and burdens of extreme situations and intoxicating libations. Welcome to the astrology of the week ahead podcast. I'm your host, Chani Nicholas. April is one of those hotspots on the calendar of 2022, astrologically speaking. Now let's just take a moment to frame this. It's not out of the blue. This has been building for a while. But what happens this Monday on April 4th is that Mars and Saturn make a conjunction in Aquarius. The last time they made this conjunction was in March of 2020. They made a conjunction also in Aquarius. It was when
Starting point is 00:03:10 much of the world went into lockdown. It's when much of the world went into lockdown. It's when much of the world went into a socially isolated situation, probably for the first time in many of our lives, especially in this kind of scenario and setup. So that was the beginning of the Saturn Mars conjunction. This is the end of that cycle, but it's also the beginning of the next one. This is the last time these two will make a conjunction in Aquarius for quite some time. It doesn't mean that we're going back into a similar situation. We've completed that cycle. But the frame of reference that we have for a Mars-Saturn conjunction in Aquarius is one of a severe situation that impacted us socially, because that is what happened the last time these two came together. Now, either what I'm saying is
Starting point is 00:04:09 totally obvious to you if you look at the news cycle or if you just look around you. Or perhaps something is occurring right now that is not totally on the surface of things. Like we'll learn later that something happened at this point that is now going to impact us going forward. The last time Mars and Saturn made a really severe aspect to each other was back in November. And we didn't know it then, but November was the beginning of Omicron. It wasn't as widely known and it hadn't impacted the world in a way that it would end up doing. But that is what got seated at the last intense meeting between Mars and Saturn. And the one before that was the occurrence of the Delta variant.
Starting point is 00:05:05 And the one before that wasn't a new strain of current. COVID. The moment Mars entered into the sign in which it would square Saturn, it was the same moment that the insurrectionists stormed the capital in the United States. So those are the moments of the last couple of severe Mars Saturn situations while Saturn has been in Aquarius. So we are finishing that cycle. It is the end of that cycle. And we're beginning a new one. The question is, what is the mark of this new one and what does that mean for the next two or so years? We want to think about the ways in which we're being impacted socially, systemically, and in terms of the collective. Aquarius is a sign that is really focused on the collective experience and the systems that are set up that impact our interactions with,
Starting point is 00:06:09 one another. So that's on kind of like a global level or on a kind of overarching level. This is a moment in the year that is marked, again, with this feeling of severity or austerity or difficulty or challenge. Is that inherently bad? Of course not. I mean, things that really wear us down take their toll. And now we get to see the toll that has. That has. And it. has been taken since March of 2020 on us individually, collectively, economically, socially, spiritually, what have you. Now, Mars has been in Aquarius since March 6th. So we have been feeling this impending conjunction between Mars and Saturn since then. So it's been already a month of these two sharing the same sign. And they'll continue to share the same sign until April
Starting point is 00:07:09 14th. And then we'll be on to something different. So this really is the last 10 days of the intensity, but Monday is the peak moment. April 4th is the moment of their exact conjunction. And so we need to look at how things are being defined or what defining moments are occurring. Saturn speaks to confines and boundaries and structures and limits. And Mars speaks to to heat and fevers and rushing and moving. And when the cold of Saturn and the heat of Mars come together, they don't necessarily get a lot done or oftentimes things might feel like they're coming to a grinding halt. And it's up to us to navigate as best we can around the obstacles that are put in our path. Maybe this time it's really personal and not so collective.
Starting point is 00:08:10 But if it does feel collective as we're leading up to this situation, then we have to think as creatively as possible. This is the thing with astrology like this. It demands that we be as creative as we possibly can. It demands that we acknowledge the limits that are put in place, that we say, okay, I've only got this amount of time and this amount of of resources and I've only got these things to work with. What is the most creative, innovative way in which I can work with them within these containers, within these confines, within these limitations even? So that's our job. Our job is to find the most creative thing that we can do given the obstacles and the challenges that we're up against. Now, the interesting thing that also
Starting point is 00:09:05 happens this week is on Tuesday, April 5th, Venus moves in to Pisces, which is the beginning of a cycle of gifts and blessings. So Saturn and Mars are in the hardest situation that they can be in. And Venus is moving into the best and most blessed position. It can be in. It's moving towards a conjunction with Jupiter. So again, we've got these extreme setups. We've got the harsh, reality checks of the Mars-Saturn conjunction. And we have the bliss out and hashtag blessed moment of Venus and Jupiter wanting us or urging us or granting us access to divine pleasures and playful connections and rolling around in the grass like a puppy with not a care in the world. So this begins or this rolls out a moment that again does feel like an extreme difference.
Starting point is 00:10:10 Not only that, but on April 12th, Jupiter and Neptune are making a conjunction in Pisces for the first time since the 1850s. And these two are anything but the restrictive nature of Saturn and Mars. These two are the ultimate transcendent, divine, intoxicating experience. Jupiter and Neptune making a conjunction in Pisces is definitely can be totally delusional, but and also it can lead us into moments of total bliss and escape. So it's wild because we have this signature of confinement and restriction with the Mars Saturn. and then we have this signature of escape and transcendence and bliss with not only Jupiter and Neptune, but also Venus is there as well. So how are these extremes showing up in your life? Where are you
Starting point is 00:11:09 learning to commit to and work as creatively as possible within the restrictive boundaries of your life? And therefore, what are you learning about making your dreams a reality? The other really interesting thing that's happening at the end of this month is that as Jupiter and Venus make a conjunction at their degree of exaltation, which is basically just the most powerful degree that they could make a conjunction on for Venus at least, especially, is that there's also going to be a solar eclipse in Taurus that will be ruled by Venus. So we're also moving into eclipse season with this gorgeous auspicious mark, except for the fact that eclipses are not auspicious marks. So again, we have this mixed bag, which says to me, how do we make lemonade?
Starting point is 00:12:05 Like, how do we make blessings, given the confinements that we're in? How do we still enjoy the sweetness, no matter the situation that is occurring? That and there's a lot of good that's coming and we have to receive it or we are going to be receiving it within situations that feel more extreme and more severe and more challenging. So that's the astrology of the week ahead, but it's really the astrology of the month ahead. I wanted to give you an outline of April to some degree. If you are subscribers to the app, you have this outline in, you. your year ahead reading. If you go to the second reading for the year, I talk all about this, and we talk all about where this is happening for you. This week, we're going to talk about

I could not recommend this app and Chani and the whole team's work more. I find guidance, comfort, joy, vitality, intrigue, curiosity, creativity, inspiration, validation, beauty, loving confrontation, support, and a shared humanity in it all. It is a gift. The new additions are blowing my mind and as they
Starting point is 00:14:48 roll in and I anticipate the arrival of the week ahead each week with vigor. I dance every time, even just a little shimmy. Love the music, the poetry, activism, kindness, and true care that is woven through it all. A bomb for my soul lovingly fumbling through this human existence. I could not say enough good things. I always laugh. I am often deeply moved and always leave with more tools and compassion in my pocket to move through my day and the world. Thank you. Sending y'all, lots of love, many blessings. Bye for now.
