Hello and welcome.
This is the astrology of the week ahead podcast, and I am your host, Chani Nicholas.

In this episode, we are looking at the week of August 8th.
This week features a full moon in Aquarius.
And it just so happens that this full moon magnifies highlights, spotlights, the astrological setup that we have been living in for a couple of weeks now.
That means that the pressure stays on, at least for the rest of this week.
Over the past couple of weeks, there have been some very, very challenging astrological signatures.
And we don't really need to know the astrology to know that this has been a very challenging corner of the year.
But it's always good to understand how the astrology is speaking to or mirroring or can contextualize the specific challenges that we face.
So outstanding is the fact that Mars entered Taurus on July 4th, and then it steadily moved into a conjunction with Uranus, the North Node, and a square to Saturn.
And that's square to Saturn just completed on August 7th. So we can consider this week very much a Mars Saturn reverb week.
So we're very much in this crunchy, grindy, sticky, challenging, disruptive moment, astrologically speaking.
And of course, it's really not hard to look very far to see how this has been impacting us.
Over the past couple of weeks, I've talked a lot about how Mars moving into Taurus has a lot to do with the insurrection that happened in the United States.
of course this is not U.S.
centric in terms of the astrology.
It's just so happens that the first moment that Mars entered Taurus was the moment that the
insurrection happened.
And the second time that Mars enters Taurus or the next time it does, we actually have the
hearings going on about that insurrection.
So that's like one kind of broad stroke.
But of course, it strikes at the core of what it means to have a demonstrable.
both in this country that I'm in right now, but globally, right?
Like we are in a moment where country to country, we are collectively facing signatures
in our own specific ways of extremism and fascism.
And we might look to Uranus's transit through Taurus as part of that greater signature.
So Uranus is a planet of disruption and destabilization.
And the last time it was in Taurus was between 1934 and 1942.
Those were the years, of course, where we saw a lot of fascism on the rise.
And it is a time where we also experienced the Great Depression, which led to the Second World War.
I'm not saying that we're going into another Great Depression, although, of course, there's so much talk about the destabilization.
of our economic infrastructures and all the ways in which that may lead to a recession.
And the climate crisis and its peak moment as the northern hemisphere moves through summer
and what it means for things like massive wildfires and, of course, the economy and food production,
etc. I will just say that the last time Uranus was in Taurus, the Dust Bowl had already begun,
but it lasted until 1936. So that was also part of the last time Uranus is in Taurus. The reason
why I'm talking about Uranus and Taurus is Mars is in Taurus right now. Uranus is in Taurus. The
North Node is in Taurus. They're all making a square to Saturn. So it's a hot spot in the sky at the
moment. And Uranus only travels through each sign once every 84 years. So when we look back at the
last time that it was traveling through this sign and then we look at this time, there are some
kind of standout similarities. And the thing about Mars traveling through Taurus is that it is a
fast moving planet. So it acts like a little activator for the longer transit of Uranus through Taurus.
And we can also think of the North Node and the eclipses as major activators also of Uranus's bigger journey through Taurus.
It's only one of the layers of the astrology, but it's an important one right in this moment.
So there's the destabilization of the Earth itself because Taurus is the sign of the Earth and Uranus is the planet of destabilization.
And with the north node where eclipses happen in this part of the zodiac,
It amps up the destabilization and then Mars enters the picture and Mars and Uranus and the North Node all just made a conjunction to each other on August 1st.
It feels exceptionally increasingly destabilizing.
Now, I'm not just saying this to further that sense of destabilization.
I'm saying it because I hope that it can give you a sense of context and framework that we're not feeling destabilized because of the astrology.
the astrology is mirroring what's happening on the planet.
And right now, this planet is in a severe state of destabilization.
And it's really hard to feel okay in that.
In fact, we shouldn't feel okay in this.
We are feeling what is happening at the base level of our world and society.
And we know that a massive shift regarding how we live on this planet is needed.
So the astrology tells me when things are going to get rocky and when they're going to get rolling and wonderful and easeful and splendid.
And there's always going to be a mix.
This is the rocky time.
So if you felt particularly like disturbed at the root system, at your own personal root system by this moment, the astrology is affirming or confirming that.
Also, it's not going to last forever.
but it is a astrological signature activating something in us to say, yeah, this doesn't feel good.
This shouldn't feel good.
The system's broken.
We can't keep pretending that it's not.
What do I in my own personal life do with that information?
How can I serve this moment?
How can I move towards the solutions that are.
accessible to me to be part of a global interconnected solution-oriented movement.
We know the problems. There are many of them. We can't each individually tend to each of them.
But each individually, we can tend to some of them, one of them, some part of our talent and our
access to resources and our specific way of being in the world is the perfect solution to a part
of one of the many problems. Our job is to take care of ourselves, to rest deeply, to be as
resourced as possible, and then to tend to the world as we can. And of course, the only, only, only
only way we get through anything is with each other, is with community and is with a deep
and unwavering understanding in our interconnectedness to each other and all life forms on the planet.
Okay, that's my soapbox, but I am saying this for astrological reasons because you came here for
an astrological reading. The other piece that we've been talking about at nauseam over the past
couple weeks and even in your year ahead, or maybe especially in your year ahead, is that every time
that Mars squares Saturn or every time that Mars and Saturn have squared each other, made an
opposition or a conjunction over the past two years while Saturn has been in Aquarius, there has
been a significant event regarding COVID slash the pandemic with this last square that Mars is
making to Saturn while Saturn is in Aquarius. We also have the addition of monkeypox, which the global
health organization has just declared a global health emergency. Add that to the very infectious
new strains of COVID. And we've got ourselves a situation that feels very Mars Saturn Square to me,
to probably your local neighborhood astrologer. And the full moon does nothing but just highlight
those themes. The full moon is happening in Aquarius.
It is happening in a very close conjunction with Saturn, part of this gnarly astrological moment.
It is happening in a square to Uranus as the sun also makes a square to Uranus.
Again, highlighting the disruptive, volatile feeling of this astrological moment.
It is just a moment.
It speaks to, of course, our very long-term problems and situations.
But I just want to reiterate that what is happening this week is highlighting the extreme nature of the situations we find ourselves in.
So what do we do when we see astrology like this?
You might hide and run for cover.
Okay, that's one way to do it.
I think we go slow, really slow.
We are not going to fix these problems in an instant.
being in a state of crisis and panic is not good for our systems and it's not good for our movements
and it's not good for our families and it's not good for our communities.
Of course, it's not good to live completely disassociated from the problems of the world
because we also need to be a solution for them, but slowing everything down
in terms of our breathing, take a deep breath,
in terms of our approach to problem solving, both in our local personal lives and in terms of what it is that our work does in regards to making a positive impact in the world, all of this is like, okay, let us take a moment and take some personal space.
The thing about Aquarius and having a full moon in Aquarius is that it is about space.
Aquarius is an air sign and it's ruled by Saturn in the traditional system.
And Saturn gives us boundaries, which give us space.
And if Aquarius does anything well, which it does a lot of things well, but if it does one thing
well, if we're going to highlight one thing that this sign does, it's give us perspective.
Aquarius is able to look at the problems that we are facing collectively.
It's a sign that's really focused on the people and the collective.
It's able to look at the situations and the systems we live within
and think really broadly, really intricately,
in terms of long-term solutions because it's ruled by Saturn.
This is a sign that understands that real societal,
change takes dedication, commitment, consistency, and patience. In honor of this full moon, we can
always look to the Aquarian Holy Trinity, which is made up of Audra Lord, Tony Morrison,
and Angela Davis. All visionaries who have either left us or are actively cultivating a roadmap
towards a more liberated society, way of being with each other,
poetry, art, novels, movies, the whole thing.
These are three human beings who didn't ask for permission
and were eons ahead of their time.
Aquarius thinks for itself.
That is one of the sign's main talents.
And it thinks outside the box.
It thinks outside of heard,
mentality because it's not reliant on societal acceptance. And it's always thinking about the group
and how we come together, how systems impact us, what the systems are, how to think about the
systems critically that we live within, and what they mean and how they impact humanity at
large. And that's what this full moon is also about on a collective level. Of course,
this full moon is going to land personally in your astrological chart somewhere.
And that's what we go into in the readings for this week on the Chani app.
So you go there for the personal ways in which this astrology is landing for you.
This podcast is more about the collective moment and how the astrology might be impacting all of us at large.
But when you look at your personal astrological chart, you want to look and see what has,
house Aquarius falls in. And that's what we focus on in the workshop section of the app.
Aquarius has been host to Saturn over the past couple of years. And this is actually the last
full moon that will be conjunct Saturn, its ruler, for the next couple of decades. Because the
next time there's a full moon in Aquarius, Saturn will actually be in Pisces. So in a lot of ways,
on a personal level and also on a collective level,
this full moon is a punctuation of the work that we have done,
because it's Saturn, with Saturn as it's been in Aquarius.
So in a lot of ways, this can be a crystallization of our ideas.
It's a spotlight on the ways in which we've been able to understand the systems
in our life and in our world, how they function, how they work,
how they don't work, what is needed for.
for the future. Remember, this is a visionary sign. This is a time to be very future-minded.
We can't be focused on immediate gratification if we actually want to affect real societal change.
We have to have wild imaginations that can think outside the box of conformity that we've all been
birthed into or that we all live in. And that's what Aquarius does so well. So the full moon occurs on
Thursday, August 11th at 636 p.m. Pacific time. So if you're in a much later time zone, that will
actually be on Friday, August 12th. But we'll definitely all be feeling it collectively come the end of the
week. Not only that, but on the same day, much earlier in the day,
the sun makes a square to Uranus.
So on the way to becoming full, the moon squares Uranus and then conjunct Saturn.
The sun is moving between a square to Uranus and opposition to Saturn, again, highlighting the intensity of this astrology.
And that Saturn Uranus setup that now involves Mars, at least partly, Mars is drifting away from Saturn, but it
it's still very much in effect.
That Saturn Uranus setup is all about looking at the systems we live within,
the changes that need to be made to them,
and the major disruptions, again, and upheavals that our systems are going through
because it's necessary in order to shift them.
And I'm not trying to say that we make a couple changes and everything will work out.
I'm saying that we're living in a moment where we have to be incredibly adaptable.
and be working with what is.
So Thursday, the sun squares Uranus,
something feels disruptive, a little chaotic,
a little out of the blue.
Venus also enters Leo on Thursday,
highlighting where the sun is traveling through,
just putting an extra emphasis on all of this kind of fixed sign set up.
And totally aside, Mars, also in Taurus, a fixed sign,
makes a sex style with Neptune,
which is quite lovely. It's like putting some dreams into action or taking action that feels
inspired. So that's helpful. The full moon then happens. And then on Sunday, the sun makes the exact
opposition to Saturn. So Sunday feels like consequence and boundary and the outcome of our work
and of our collective action, but also gives us the shape of things. I will say this.
With Saturn, always there is the ability or the gift, we might say, the opportunity to understand things as they are.
We can hope and wish things were different all we want.
But Saturn is like, this is what it is.
What are you going to do with these constraints, given these parameters, given this reality check?
Then if we act from that place, we can feel somewhat, at least in our agency, because when we're
when we're hoping and wishing or dismayed that things aren't as we think they should be,
we are in a situation, at least internally, where we feel disempowered in some way,
or at least not in our agency.
But when we're like, okay, this is what it is for sure, then I can do something about it.
It doesn't have to be something I like.
I don't have to think that this is the best situation.
In fact, I can think this is absolutely wrong.
and act according to what I think is right.
So that is what the full moon gives us.
That's what this astrology gives us.
And the wrench in the works is that Uranus is destabilizing things.
So we have to be very nimble and very adaptable and not expect things to go as planned.
There's one other aspect that I haven't said anything about because it's very besides the point in a lot of ways.
On Monday, Venus in cancer makes an opposition to Pluto and Capricorn.
And this might give the beginning of the week a feeling of depth or intensity,
especially regarding our relationships and what we desire.
So it's a good time to unearth some feeling, some situation,
some aspect of our relationship dynamics,
and to get clear on what we desire and how we can care for that desire.
It is Venus and cancer.
That's Venus's last little aspect before it moves into Leo on the 11th.
Okay, y'all, that is the astrology for the week ahead.
I will say that there's a bright spot coming next week, the week of August 15th.
There's actually some really lovely astrology.
If you've been waiting to do something or you're like, I have this thing to launch or something to do, when should I do it?
There's some really nice astrology coming around August.
17th into August 18th. So we'll talk about that next week, but it does feel quite inspired and
uplifting. And again, we're moving now away from the chaos of this corner of the year.
Not that we won't still have to deal with the problems of it, but astrologically, things will
start to loosen next week. Sending you lots of love, stay grounded, stay hydrated, stay cool,
stay patient, stay with the solutions that you can connect with.
As always, we love and so appreciate the fact that y'all take time out of your very busy lives to leave us a review in the app store.
I wanted to share one with you. It's called Anchor for My Week. No matter what astrological storms are brewing for me or the world, I know Chani will anchor me.
with her weekly reading. I find great solace in having some forecast of what is to come so I can
plan, slow down, or ramp up, rest, play, or whatever. I actually take notes in my planner,
nerd, and recap my week to see how it all aligns. Sure enough, I'm like, yep, Channy called it.
Even if you can only afford free like me with your time treasure, this app is so worth it, y'all.
sending you lots of love, many, many blessings.
Bye for now.
