We humans have always been obsessed with the sun and the moon and their cycles.
The winter solstice aligns with so many cultures, traditions, festivities, and also a great many myths about rebirth and or about someone's birth being really important and bringing forward some kind of.
kind of renewal or a resurgence of energy or hope or light, obviously. This is the moment in the
northern hemisphere where the sun's light starts to grow each and every day. So it's also
akin in a way to a new moon because this is the point at which the light is the least but
starts to increase. And from the day of the new moon onward, there's no light to increasing light
to the moment of fullness. And so both the sun and the moon have these cycles of maximum light
and then waning into darkness. And it just so happens that this week, we have both of these
things happening at once. We have the solstice occurring. Capricorn season begins. And
and we have a new moon in Capricorn near days after the solstice.
Both things together feel really potent and like a new beginning.
There is a clear and distinct mark of something turning a corner.
Hello and welcome.
This is the Astrology of the Week Ahead podcast and I'm your host, Channy Nicholas.
In this podcast, we look at the astrology of the upcoming week and how it will be landing for all of us collectively.

All right, y'all, we have Capricorn season, we have solstice, we have new moon, we also have Jupiter changing signs.
So it does feel like there's a lot of fresh energy.
available and the three big things that are happening this week are happening in cardinal signs
and cardinal signs tend to have a ton of energy because they are the signs associated with the
changing of the season so there is this theme of change renewal rebirth and starting fresh now i know
that all of us are trained to go by the gregorian calendar january first is the new year
But in a lot of ways, especially if you're in the northern hemisphere, the solstice really does mark that moment where we're going from the darkest, longest night into the brightest, longest day. Of course, if you're in the southern hemisphere, this marks the apex of the sun's movement and moment. And either way, because the solstice happens a week and a bit before January 1st, it is a really good time to energetically,
align yourself with your intentions and what you most hope to grow in the new year.
So thinking about the seeds of intention that you're wanting to plant at this time and with
this season.
And because it's Capricorn season, because this solstice is the sun moving into Capricorn,
regardless of the hemisphere that you're in, it's also a really good time to think about
the structures of your life. That's what Capricorn does really well. It does structure really well.
It does commitment really well. It does rules and regulations really, really well.
When you're thinking about the structures of your life and you're thinking about the dreams that you
most want to manifest, not even necessarily your goals, but like the ways in which you want to
live your life and how you want to build your life or what you want to build your life around,
It's really good to also think of the skills you want to develop.
All earth signs love a skill.
They love a skill development moment.
So this is a really good time to plant seeds of intention to develop the skills that you know you need in order to make your dreams a reality.
In order to even take your dreams seriously, I think we all need to develop the skill of resilience.
and to develop the skill of long-term thinking and planning and organizing and building.
If you are going to build a house and you get frustrated laying foundation,
like you're never going to get to the roof.
So we have to, if we want to build something long-lasting in our life,
we have to think about all of the ways in which laying the groundwork is key
and learning how to do things long term without immediate gratification is as well.
Immediate gratification is not Capricorn's territory at all.
And so Capricorn teaches us.
Capricorn wisdom is to delay gratification,
to see what happens when we hang out with maybe even expectation.
So to be the architect of,
of your dreams, you can work with this week's astrology, both in terms of planting seeds for the
whole year, setting your intentions for the whole year with the solstice, and then setting an
intention, and you can do this at once or separately, setting an intention with the new moon
and capricorn. You can do that in relationship to where exactly it's happening in your chart,
which we go through on your weekly reading in the Chani app, specifically where it is
you. But you can also just kind of collapse these two things into one and know that this whole
week is filled with really potent energy to help us restart, to help us kind of turn that key
in the engine. Of course, there's also traditions at this time of year that talk about the miracle
of light and how to bring that into our awareness in these moments of,
great darkness, of course, we want to rekindle the flame inside. We want to feel that internal light
and have that be the thing that shines forth. That's the real miracle is to, no matter what we do,
no matter what we go through, no matter what we're having to learn, no matter how many times we
mess up, no matter how much forgiveness we need to extend to ourselves, the miracle is always
remembering that the light that we seek is inside. It's already here with us. And to spend any
amount of time turning inward and rekindling that flame is in and of itself the rebirth that we
most need at this moment. And the more we do that or capable of doing that or develop the
skills to do that, then the more we can show up in the world with that and hopefully remind
each other of it. So that's a part of what this week is bringing. The other thing that's going on this
week that's kind of major is that Jupiter is moving back into Ares. So this is the chronological
order of things. On December 20th, Tuesday, Jupiter moves back into Ares. On Wednesday, the 21st
of December, the sun enters Capricorn. And then on Friday, December 23rd, the new moon occurs
occurs at 2.17 a.m. Pacific time. So that's, so the world over, that is the same. Everyone gets a new moon on Friday the 23rd. And that's going to happen at one degree of Capricorn. So Jupiter moving back into Ares is really good news for the part of your chart that contains Ares. Jupiter was here earlier this year in this part of your chart. And it's back to finish something up. It's going to be here until May. It's going to be here for the
the next like five or so months. And so the part of your chart that contains Aries gets this real like
pick me up, get up and go kind of spirit in it. And that can be really helpful again to finish something
off that you started there or just to give you more of a boost. Jupiter and Ares is very, very
active. And the activity that it is focused on is abundance and expansion and growth. So it's really
good at overdoing things, but and also it's an excellent cheerleader. It's like a just go.
Don't ever think it. Just do it. Just grow. Just expand. Just don't worry about feeling like an
imposter or whatever. Just have fun with it. Like time's ticking. We got a lot to do. Don't worry about
it so much. Just get out the door and get things moving. So we're going to be returning to some kind of
story like that in the area of our chart that contains Ares. And then again, the solstice is just a
beautiful moment to reset in any and all areas of your life. It's kind of like a general moment to
plant the seeds of intention that you have for your year if you want to do that kind of work now.
And then the new moon is really good to work with in regards to the area of your chart that
it's happening in. So wherever Capricorn is in your chart, that area.
of your chart is getting not only the solstice, but also the new moon, and you can set an
intention specific to that part of your life, or you can just kind of collapse them into one thing
and work with your intentions this week in regards to this new season, this rebirth, and this new moon,
this new lunar cycle, and focusing on that rebirth of light within your life.
Where do you notice the miracles?
Where is the energy in your life?
How good are you at following the energy?
Like what makes you feel alive?
What makes you feel a light?
What makes you feel like you are lit up from within?
And we don't feel like that all of the time,
but we get little hints about that here and there.
And this season, if anything, is here to remind you,
us to have that be our intention. That can be our sole intention that we plant with the solstice
or with the new moon or both is that may I follow the light, may I follow the energy, may I follow
the things that help me to align with a sense of my purpose and that remind me that I am
always and forever in the process of rebirth, that that is part of the thing we do here. Renewal is a
part of our everyday life. It is a part of waking up in the morning. And it is a part of our
lunar cycles every month. And it is a part of our solar yearly cycles every year. And so there's
the micro and then the macro. And this week reminds us of all of those. So finding all the ways
that you can to remember that, that no matter what, no matter what, if we're willing to do the work
and we're willing to put in the work necessary to heal,
we can always, always, always, always,
count on a rebirth.
And giving ourselves that gift can make a real difference
in terms of how we experience our life.
Thank you all so much for leaving reviews in the app store.
I wanted to share one with you called The Greatest Joy to Dollar Ratio I've spent.
of that title. The insights, guidance, assurance, and camaraderie that I gain from being a Chani
user has been invaluable in helping me develop my self-awareness and awareness of what is within
and out of my control, which enables me to engage with the world to the fullest extent possible
without burning out. No matter what happens, I'll have Chani. This app is the greatest joy to dollar
ratio I've ever spent and I am eternally grateful to Channey and the team for producing this content.
All right, y'all. That's the reading. In the app this week, we have solstice rituals that are also good for
the new moon. They're kind of one and the same because they're happening, of course, in the same sign.
So I hope you enjoy those. I hope that they instill that sense of the miraculous of
the energy of that inner light within.
And I'm sending you all lots of solstice new moon blessings.
Bye for now.
