Astrology of the Week Ahead with Chani Nicholas - The Week of January 15th, 2024: Major shift alert — Aquarius season begins and Pluto enters Aquarius
Episode Date: January 15, 2024Episode 161 In this podcast, New York Times bestselling author and astrologer Chani Nicholas discusses the astrology of the week and what it might mean for us all. The astrology of the week of Janu...ary 15th, 2024, begins a brand new chapter. On Monday, the Sun sextiles Neptune (the planet of illusion), reminding us of our capacity for imagination and compassion. On Thursday, Mercury (the planet of communication) sextiles Saturn (the planet of boundaries), connecting us to conversations that are both inspiring and focused on the big picture. On Friday, Mercury trines Jupiter (the planet of abundance) and gives our communications a hopeful boost — then Venus (the planet of love) squares Neptune, tempting us to indulge in a little escapism. On Saturday, the Sun conjoins Pluto (the planet of transformation) in a cazimi, shining light on our financial systems before entering Aquarius and marking the start of Aquarius season. Finally, on Saturday, Pluto also enters Aquarius and begins unearthing deep collective change in the realm of technology and communication. It’s fun, it’s weird, and we hope it’s filled with quality moments. This episode was recorded on 11/10/2023. Hello and welcome.
This is the astrology of the week ahead podcast. I'm your host, Chani Nicholas. In this episode,
we're talking about the week of January 15th, which just so happens to be the week that Pluto
moves back into Aquarius. So there's good reason to think that over the course of the next
nine months, while Pluto is making its second entrance into this weirdo air sign, that we are
going to be dealing with some of these themes because the last time Pluto was an Aquarius,
March, April, May, a little bit of June of 2023. We certainly were talking about revolution.
We certainly were talking about industrial revolution, AI, technological revolution, really.
And we were also talking about aliens. I do believe. I do believe we were talking a lot about
aliens. Does anybody even remember the fact that there was evidence of aliens? Was that real? Is that a
dream? What was that? Aquarius is a sign that is about the collective. Aquarius is a sign that is
always on the outskirts. It is not in the center. It does not want to be the center of attention.
It wants to go to the margins and look at the group and understand the dynamics and the systems
and how everything works.
It's a little remote.
It likes to be on the edge.
It is a sign that for better or worse is related to technology.
I say for better or worse because of some of the reasons why.
But I do think that because it is an air sign and it is about communication and the intellect
and the ways in which we might do that differently, again,
because of Aquarius's ability to have a perspective, it is seeming to be related to those
advancements that help us to, or that help is a strong word, that change the ways in which
we are collectively together. So Pluto is a planet of change and transformation and also power.
When Pluto goes into Aquarius, or when it's in a sign that is about the collective or about
social engagement, so really we could say any of the air signs, but here we are with Pluto in Aquarius,
then we know something is happening that is teaching us about the power of the collective,
what the collective wants, what it doesn't want, what it's doing in the moment.
So last year when we had Pluto and Aquarius, we had a lot of headlines that were coming in from France, from the protests that were happening there.
And it just so happens that the last time Pluto was an Aquarius, a couple hundred years ago and some, we had the French Revolution, we had the American Revolution, we had the Industrial Revolution.
So those are some kind of architectural imprints that we could go back to and say, oh, well, is that happening now?
Is there a ground swell from a group of people, perhaps in France?
I have no idea what's going on.
I'm taping this at the beginning of November of 2023.
Zero idea what's going on in January.
So I don't know what I'm talking about,
except for the fact that I know that Pluto is going back into Aquarius this week.
So we're going to look at themes of technology, specifically AI.
I don't know, maybe some aliens.
Not that I like relate aliens to Aquarius necessarily.
But certainly in modern astrology, we do.
And it's a good joke.
I think it's an interesting joke.
And it's also like if there are other beings there,
then they have way more perspective than we do about us.
So maybe that is Aquarian in nature.
But we're going to talk about,
we're going to be talking about with Pluto Aquarius technological advancements,
how that impacts humankind, what that means for us,
what the impact is, what our reaction is.
What we do and don't want to be a part of,
of in terms of that, like what actually is advancing us and how. The very interesting thing that's
happening right before Pluto enters Aquarius is that the sun and Pluto are coming together
for what we call a Kazimi while Pluto is still in Capricorn. That is shining the light
definitely on our financial systems and structures. Again, I have no idea what's happening at this time of year,
but because Pluto entered Capricorn in 2008 around the time of that big old financial crash,
and when Pluto was going in and out of Capricorn and Aquarius last year, we had more of those headlines surfacing
about the bumpiness of the financial world and that it was a periparrow.
parallel to 2008 financial crashes. I'm also like, is something happening because Pluto's changing
signs and because Pluto is going through this moment of magnification and we could say
purification with the sun. It just seems extra suspect to me that these things are going on. And I don't
mean that that's bad or good. It just is. There's a magnification on the
things that go on on a bit of a subterranean level. Pluto talks about what goes on underneath the surface.
Because it is in Greco-Roman mythology related to, or it's the god of the underworld, right?
So what's going on underneath everything? And Capricorn deals with the structures and the material reality of life.
and Aquarius deals with ideas and systems and technology perhaps and also the
collective of the group, whatever impacts the group. So we're going back and forth between
these two subjects. And the deal with Pluto is that it moves so slowly. It's like 248
years for it to do a rotation to go through all the signs. So when it changes signs,
which it only does about 20 years, every 20 years, give or take a couple of
it's a big deal because it doesn't happen every day like the moon changes signs every two and a
half days the sun every 30-ish days Pluto takes like decades to change signs so when it's going
in between signs in and out it usually is like a kind of seismic shift that's going on that's
related and somewhat to the signs themselves and what they tend to symbolize so structures
finances, the order of things, you know, like the old guard. Capricorn can be thought of, not Capricorns,
not people with Sun and Capricorn, but Capricorn can be thought of as a rigid kind of sign.
So can Aquarius, because they're both ruled by Saturn, which is very a rigid planet and is
about tradition in the way things are done. Like, this is the way things are. This is the way
things have been done forever. So this is how we do things. We can think of.
the systems we live in now.
Like patriarchy is new, but it's also pretty old in terms of lifespans.
In terms of the history of humanity, it's new, but it's still like a couple thousand years old
at least.
So it's also very deeply entrenched.
We don't know a world outside of it necessarily.
Most of us, I don't think do.
White supremacy, capitalism, like extractive systems that function.
via supremacy.
We don't really know
a life outside of that
unless we've had a very unique experience
where we didn't come in contact
with the rest of the world.
Or at least we know of it, right?
So what is it to live outside of those?
What would it be to recreate?
And it's a thing, you know,
it's common for astrologers to say
that this is
this last little bit of Pluto and
Capricorn is like capitalism, et cetera, and its death throws.
So it feels like extreme right now because it's crumbling or revealing how it is an untenable structure to live within.
White supremacist, colonial, patriarchal, etc.
Did I miss one?
Patriarchal, white supremac, colonial capitalism.
This is an untenable structure to live.
within because it's all about extraction. So eventually things collapse because they are not
generative. They are about what we can hoard and who can win. So we know we're at this moment where
life on earth cannot sustain itself in these systems. We've literally taken or those in power
have taken, taken, taken, and the earth is telling, telling us that this is, it's not going to work.
So we're at this moment of great change.
The United States also has Pluto at the end of Capricorn in these late degrees of Capricorn, like the birth chart of the United States.
So it's also about the country we call United States, this part of the world, going through its Pluto return, which is a kind of like reckoning.
And it is a revealing.
It is a peeling back of the layers and being like, oh, yeah, that's what's rotting under the surface.
And so there's a lot of that kind of like chickens coming home to roost kind of vibe with this time period.
It doesn't mean that everything's going to be lovely and great when Pluto moves into Aquarius, though,
because Pluto is about power.
And if Aquarius is about the masses and mass communication and possibly technology,
then how is technology used against us?
Is it for us?
It could be.
we could have technology supporting life on earth. We could have it doing something that is phenomenal.
We could be in partnership with it in a way that was generative and was problem-solving solution-oriented.
Imagine that, solution-oriented technology. I mean, it's there. We've got it. We could do it. We can do it. We can do it, but we have to demand it.
all of that happens this weekend.
And that's big, big, big picture stuff, right?
That's like big, like humanity in a moment, in a change.
And this is going to happen for the next nine months.
Pluto will be in Aquarius for the next nine months until September.
It'll leave until November.
And then it'll come back in November of 2024 and be there for good for like almost 20 years.
So got this.
nine-month chapter. We've got one little thing to close up in terms of later in the year.
I don't know if you know of anything eventful happening, September, October, November of 2024.
But there we are. Pluto is changing signs back and forth. Finishing something up.
Yes, again, the United States is having its Pluto return, and that will be the last little bit of it.
So definitely interesting times we're living in, times of great change.
and that's just going to start to happen this weekend.
And again, it's going to all told it's like a 20-year process.
So not everything will be revealed this week.
But I do expect some headlines later this weekend, maybe into next week,
that will start to articulate and pick up on the things we were understanding,
learning last year and maybe 248 years ago.
Besides that, there's some really great historical.
astrology happening this week. Very quick little ditties that are very supportive. Monday is really
great for our imagination, for connection, for remembering possibly compassion and our humanity,
when the sun makes a textile to Neptune. And then Thursday and Friday are really great
communication days. And they pick up on something that we were talking about earlier in, or later
last year in December of 2023. That's when Mercury was.
just before it was retrograde and during its retrograde. And now we've circled back. So we're circling
back to conversations that are hopeful, inspiring, and big picture stuff. Also on Friday, Venus makes
a square to Neptune. And it's going to make us want to get out a dodge to enjoy ourselves, to
indulge in a little escapism. I hope it's just full of pleasure and delights. So that's the local read.
I go into great detail about it in your weekly readings on the Chani app.
If you're not already there, you can download it for iOS and Android.
Hey, y'all, thanks so much for leaving us reviews in the App Store.
We deeply appreciate them and read every single one.
I wanted to leave you with this one.
I don't believe in astrology, but this app is always right.
My week ahead is my most important weekly listen.
The birth chart and analysis is the best.
I've seen Chani's explanations of what is happening astrologically and of how it relates to me
have the most amazing correspondences to what is going on in my life. And I love the support of weekly
rituals in tune with the cycles of the year. All right, Chow, that is the read. That is the deal.
Next week, we've got a big old dramatic full moon in Leo. Come back and we will talk about it then.
otherwise this is a wild beginning to Aquarius season.
This is the sun enters Aquarius.
Pluto enters Aquarius.
I mean, it's weird.
It's probably going to get pretty weird.
So I hope it's fun, weird, good times.
Bye for now.
