Episode Date: January 30, 2023

In this podcast, New York Times bestselling author and astrologer Chani Nicholas discusses the astrology of the week and what it might mean for us all. The astrology of the week of January 30th, 2023,... asks us to be honest with ourselves about how we show up in the world. On Friday, the Sun squares Uranus (the planet of disruption) and prompts us to break any outdated norms surrounding our identities. On Saturday, Venus (the planet of love) squares Mars (the planet of action and confrontation), which could shed light on a relationship issue or two. Then on Sunday, the Full Moon in Leo occurs, illuminating our shine and most authentic selves. In all, it’s a good week for honoring the true you. Starting point is 00:00:00 It is practically impossible to create the life that we will love, to create a life of meaning and depth and connection without honesty. Showing up in a way that is honest and authentic and radically ourselves is for most of us a skill we have to develop. because for very good reason, so many of us learned how to squash our needs and fit in so that we could find a family, be part of a group, or get our social needs met in some way, shape, or form. To tell the truth, to be honest about who we are, to be honest about what we need, what we like, what we don't like, what we want to do, what we don't want to do, what we don't want to do, is for many of us an unlearning. Hello and welcome. This is the Astrology of the Week Ahead podcast. And I'm your host, Channy Nicholas.
Starting point is 00:01:15 In this podcast, we look at the astrology of the upcoming week and how it will be landing for all of us collectively. For a more personalized reading that dives into the ways that this week's astrology will play out for you, download the Chani app for iPhone. The reason why I'm talking about this is that we have a very loud and very radical full moon in Leo this week. And not only that, but this full moon in Leo marks a moment where we're in between eclipses. The last eclipse was a couple months ago.
Starting point is 00:02:04 The next eclipse will be a couple months from now. But this is the halfway point. And when we hit the halfway point, when the sun, crosses over that halfway point and then when we have a lunation this week of full moon close to that halfway point it's marking something quite significant so this full moon feels like it is here to teach us something that if received if learned if welcomed you might say that it could lead to a really pivotal shift in our awareness and the pivotal shift is in regards to how we show up, how we self-express, how we say, this is who I am, and you don't have to like it,
Starting point is 00:02:51 but this is it. I actually have come to love it. Getting there is a whole thing unto itself. It's not easy, and it requires that we risk a lot. But the rewards are massive, because as so many people before me have said when you show up as yourself, what you're going to do is you're going to attract people that are aligned with that authentic version of yourself. But so many of us are so afraid to do so, again, because we might not have the skills or that our skills were more geared towards, more oriented towards trying to fit in for our survival. This week, wants us to confront something about that, wants us to question, like, why am I not being honest about who I am, about what I need, about what I want? Why can't I be the voice of
Starting point is 00:03:52 dissent? What am I really going to risk? And what am I actually going to gain if I try to be more honest if I try to show up as myself? So there's three main events that I'm going to be more honest. I'm that are happening this week. And they happen on February 3rd, February 4th and February 5th. On February 3rd, the sun makes a square to Uranus. And that talks about something disruptive. It speaks to things getting jostled about. Those things might be events. They might be plans. It might feel a little extra chaotic. It might also feel like exciting. Things might get a little loud. It's a really good moment for breaking with tradition and breaking norms. And what norms are we talking about? Well, it is the sun making that square to Uranus. So it can be something about our
Starting point is 00:04:52 identity. Now, the interesting thing is that two days later, on February 5th, when the full moon takes place, it's also making that square to Uranus. It's like within a degree. And so what happens on the third is really connected to what happens on the fifth. It's basically echoing the same thing. And it's the full moon in Leo. And Leo's all about how we self-express, how we say, this is who I am, and this is how I shine in the world, and this is what I got. And you're going to love me. Don't worry about it. I'll make it fun. And having a full moon in Leo talks about how we do that thing. And we all do it in a really different way. We all shine. and take up space in the world in our own unique way.
Starting point is 00:05:40 And that's the point, right? It's not to conform to any other person's way of being. It's to actually find our way to shine authentically. And disruptively, this woman's like, you know what? Go for it. Be you. Be as eccentric as you want to be. This is your time.
Starting point is 00:05:59 What are you waiting for? Try being radically, authentically honest and still kind. We still need to be. kind. This is not about being totally insensitive just for the sake of being honest. But within that paradigm, if we are radically aligned with who we are and what we want and what it is we have to give, take note of if things come to you in a way that is kind of shocking or surprising or seemingly out of the blue, you know this. You see people do it all the time. They come into their own personal power, they come into some kind of truth about themselves. They no longer want to hide
Starting point is 00:06:43 who they are. And they bring that forward and their life starts to open up. It's like almost inevitable that that's going to happen. I tried for so many years not to be an astrologer. Why, I just wanted to find something that was normal. I wanted to find something that people understand. I didn't want to be the weird outcast astrologer. I know it's really like popular right now, but it wasn't always like that. And I wanted to be something that people could locate, that people could be like, oh yeah, I know people that do that. And instead, I didn't get my way and my life's work got its own way. And I finally gave into it. And when I did, everything started to fall into place in a way that it never would before, no matter how much I tried, no matter how hard
Starting point is 00:07:40 I worked, no matter how hard I pushed something or what I did, it was like nothing else was, it wasn't, you know, it wasn't catching, it wasn't coming together. Nothing would flow until I turned around and said, okay, fine, I'll do the astrology. And then literally everything started to align. Everything kind of rushed in. And my life ended up turning a corner that it never had before. And things started to work. Things started to come together. So I know that that's my experience.
Starting point is 00:08:15 And I know it to be the experience of many people. And I also know that's not, you know, the be all end all. We have to do a lot more than that. But it is the entry point. It is the place at which if we start there, then everything is possible. That's where our power is. that's where things can really start to happen. And that's what this full moon is angling towards.
Starting point is 00:08:41 So let it gently or maybe not so gently, maybe let it loudly, you know, move you in that direction. So on the 3rd of February, the sun makes a square to Uranus. It's disruptive. It's about change. It's about updates. It's about doing things differently and in a more radically honest way. Then on the 4th of February on Saturday, Venus and Pisces makes us square to Mars.
Starting point is 00:09:12 And this is going to be present throughout the full moon. All of these things are kind of happening at the same time. So you can't really separate them. But Venus is in a really good situation. It's in Pisces, which is lovely. Venus loves to be in Pisces. And Mars is no longer retrograde. Hallelujah.
Starting point is 00:09:31 But it is still. still Mars. It is still a little bit of a thorn in our side. And Venus is about relationships, and it's also about what we value. And Mars, it's here to aggravate something. And because Venus talks about relationships or symbolizes relationships and beauty and harmony, and Mars represents discord and making things a little bit more difficult via heat and arguments, especially in Gemini, there might be something about our relationships that come up that is annoying. And it's happening right before and also during a full moon, a full moon that's asking us to be more radically aligned with who we are,
Starting point is 00:10:19 more radically honest about who we are, and more in acceptance of who we are. So we have to accept the good, the bad, the ugly, the beautiful, all the things about ourselves. But there might be a relationship issue that comes up in the midst of this full moon that helps you do some of that work, some of that self-acceptance work, some of that accountability work, and helps you to parse out what it is you don't like. And that can be the thing.
Starting point is 00:10:47 You know, Venus in Pisces wants us to all get along and be compassionate for each other and us to all merge and blend and do all those beautiful things. But in a square to Mars, it's like, no, there's some things here that are different. There's some distinctions here. Let's get really specific about what's bothering us. So it's an opportunity to do that. And then because this full moon has that disruptive quality, it also is helping us to say no to things or to awaken to what it is we don't want, we don't like, and we don't want a feature. The sun and moon are also squaring the north and south nodes. So there's also this feeling of going through a turning point, going through something that feels pivotal, because now we're in between eclipses. We're exactly in between eclipses. And there's usually something that
Starting point is 00:11:44 happens around that time when the sun passes through that, that feels like, oh, that's a little faded or that's a little interesting. That's tied, could be tied to what happened during the last eclipse or what will happen during the next eclipse. And having a full moon highlight that. And is also an extra emphasis. So what we do during a full moon always counts because everything is amplified, everything is magnified, everything is kind of lifted up in a way. What we do on the way to a full moon is also. So if you want to make use of the full moon, you can think about all week, like how can I be more on my own side? How can I be more honest, at least with myself, about who I am, what I want, what I like, what I think, and how to show up in a way that's radically
Starting point is 00:12:38 honest and still very kind and still very much about finding solution, but being who we are and accepting all aspects of ourselves, and maybe even learning to like ourselves a little bit more. So all week, we know we're headed towards a full moon. We are ramping up. towards something that again feels turbulent, disruptive, loud, chaotic, maybe like a really good time. It might be like a surprise birthday party. It might be like a surprise party. It's like a little shocking and super exciting, a little taxing, but still we could make the most of it. However, when we're moving towards a full moon, we know to take extra care of ourselves because we all react to a full moon differently. So whatever that is for you, just make sure that you're like, okay, this
Starting point is 00:13:32 weekend is a full moon. It could be really fun and it could be full of a lot of feelings or full of a lot of chaos. And I'm not going to try to overplan or over schedule. I'm going to go with the unexpected events that might pop up. And of course, just practice asking myself, what do I want? What's true for me and how do I honor that? Thank you all so much for leaving us reviews in the app store. We love them. We share them around on Fridays. This one's from Chandra Bright and it's called Wow with the Star Eye emoji. Love this app. Been using for a year now. And it's amazing how much calmer I feel with this knowledge. Channey's voice is so soothing. Just received my 20, 23, planner and I am loving how much time and care went into it. The spiral binding is really high
Starting point is 00:14:39 quality and makes for smooth page turning. The paper is very high quality. Kudos to Chiani and her team. Really excited for what the new year will bring. I'm sending you so much love. Many, many, many, many full moon blessings. Bye for now.
