Astrology of the Week Ahead with Chani Nicholas - The Week of July 4th, 2022: Mercury enters Cancer and Mars enters Taurus

Episode Date: July 4, 2022

In this podcast, New York Times bestselling author and astrologer Chani Nicholas discusses the astrology of the week and what it might mean for us all. The astrology of the week of July 4th, 2022, rem...inds us that care is our greatest currency. As Mercury enters the sign of Cancer, the planet of communication prompts us to put words to our emotions and set big, hopeful plans for the future — with a little help from Jupiter. Then, when Mars enters Taurus, we’re reminded that sometimes we need a touch of chaos to shake up our priorities for the better. (We can’t forget about self-care, after all.) At the end of the week, the Sun brings it all together with an invigorating sextile to Uranus, showing us that innovation and connection might just be the golden combo we’ve been looking for. In this episode, we are going to look at the astrology of the week of July 4th. If you're new to this podcast, if you're new to astrology, you might be wondering why you're listening to this or what the use of it is. And you can think of this podcast and astrology in general as a type of weather check.
Starting point is 00:02:12 You want to know what the weather's like. Is it going to be really hot today? is it going to rain? What is the deal and how can I best prepare for the situation that I'm going to enter into? What will the environment look like, feel like, be like, and how will it impact me? We can think of the astrology as a secondary type of weather report. I'll try not to use too many astrological terms so that we can cut to the chase and use this very brilliant system. Astrology is probably one of the best life hacks around. Okay, so what should we expect from this week of July 4th?
Starting point is 00:02:57 This week starts out with a shift of pace. Astrologically speaking, that is because there are two planets changing signs on the same day, on Monday. Now, these are fast-moving planets. They change signs fairly often. But these two and their change of sign is a little extra significant. One of these planets is Mercury, the planet of communication. If you remember, Mercury was just retrograding through Gemini and then it backed up into Taurus and then it stationed direct. And then it moved back through Taurus and then through Gemini.
Starting point is 00:03:36 Well, it's finally moving into a new sign. It's moving into cancer this week. And that means it's moving into a brand new part of our chart. So Mercury is clearing space for new conversations, new plans, and this week in particular, big, bold, new visions for the future. So our plans seem to get big or our writing projects or our communications. There's something really hopeful. Mercury and Cancer wants to talk about how we belong to each other. It wants to talk about home.
Starting point is 00:04:10 It wants to talk about family. It wants to talk about feelings. So this week begins a little process because Mercury will only be here for a couple of weeks, but a process of having conversations that are more vulnerable. So if you have a writing practice, this is a really great time to ask yourself what the truth is. Like how can I be more vulnerable in my writing practice? But as a human, no matter if you have a writing practice or not, this is. a beautiful time to have the conversations with the people that you love and can be vulnerable with
Starting point is 00:04:52 and be very explicit about how much you care and also to be able to put words to our emotions. This is about strengthening our emotional intelligence. The cancer part of this equation is the emotions. The intelligence part of this equation is Mercury. Mercury will be in cancer until July 19th. So it's a quick transit, July 4th to July 19th, the part of your chart that contains cancer will have a lot to say, or you'll be wanting to have conversations about the subject matter that belongs to that house. I go into the explanation of that in your individual reading on the Chani app this week. But we might be hearing a lot of conversations about home or family or who belongs, how we belong, where we belong, who belongs, who doesn't belong. All of those topics
Starting point is 00:05:50 start to come to the surface as Mercury moves through cancer. Also on July 4th, Mars enters Taurus. Now, this is big news for a couple of different reasons. The last time Mars, planet of war and aggression and fighting and strife and also courage and direction and energy. The last time Mars entered Taurus was on January 6th of 2021. The day that the U.S. Capitol was stormed by insurrectionists. Am I saying that that's going to happen again now that Mars enters Taurus on July 4th? No, I'm not saying that. I'm just saying that that's the last time Mars entered Taurus. On January 6th, as they were storming the Capitol, Mars was entering tourists. And there was a photo shared very widely of one of the white supremacists that stormed the
Starting point is 00:06:53 Capitol wearing bull's horns. And so it was this very eerie mark of Mars, someone who trespasses a boundary or a barrier, in the literal cloak or garb that is associated. with Taurus, the bull. So that's the last time it happened. We might be circling back around to conversations about that event. We might be noticing it more in headlines, or we might be circling back to the issues that brought that event about. That's one thing that I'm keeping my eye on. The other thing is that by the end of July, not this week, not next week, but by the end of July and the beginning of August, Mars is going to make quite a kerfuffle. Between July 31st and
Starting point is 00:07:51 August 7th, Mars, again, the planet of disturbing the peace, the planet of creating some chaos, moves over the North node, a point of increase. So whatever touches it gets pronounced. So when Mars is pronounced, separation is pronounced, aggression can be pronounced, and anything that feels hostile can be pronounced. Then it will move on to make a conjunction with Uranus, the planet of change and instability and innovation and total disdainting. So both of these planets can get very loud and can feel very caustic or abrasive.
Starting point is 00:08:38 And when they're together, they tend to do that more so. And then by the 7th of August, Mars makes a square to Saturn, which is one of the harder things that happens. In traditional astrology, Mars and Saturn are called the Malific planets. And every time they make a square, an opposition, or a conjunction with each other, it's pretty challenging. But this is part of a cycle between these two planets that began in March of 2020, which is when we went into lockdown for the first time. And every time since then, that's when they made a conjunction, that's when they were together. So they were seeding something, not good. And every time since then that they've made an opposition or a square to each other, we've had
Starting point is 00:09:30 another sticky point, challenging point around the pandemic. So bearing all that in mind, I personally am going to make sure I'm taking precautions at the end of July, the beginning of August, meaning I'm not going to put my health at risk. I'm not going to put anything at risk that I don't have to. I'm going to give myself extra time, extra cushions of resources if I've got them. I'm not going to spend all my resources, my time, my energy, my patience, my money before the end of July, because I know that the end of July and the beginning of August, astrologically speaking, might be a little crunchy, might be a little tough.
Starting point is 00:10:18 It might feel like we're lacking a little of what we're. we need. It might feel like we're having to go through a very tight passage. And so we don't want to bring any extra obstacles with us into that moment of time. And again, astrology is a weather report on one hand. It's a lot of things. But that's one way we can use it. And that's how we're using it in this podcast. So I just want to give you that little section of time to be like, just give yourself extra, extra patience, extra time. sleep more, be well-resourced going into a moment that feels bumpy, right? We want to not enter into a chaotic situation without having taken our vitamins and had our
Starting point is 00:11:06 weedies and had our cup of favorite beverage in the morning, whatever the thing is, had a nap. Like we need to go into moments that feel like, who, this is a lot with everything that we can bolster ourselves with. And that's what I would like us to do and to keep in mind as we are moving through July. Also, the part of your chart that contains Taurus where Mars is moving through right now is going to kind of go through the ringer a little bit. Again, at the end of July and in the beginning of August, and we talk a lot about that in your readings for this week in the Chani app. So if you want to know more, go listen to your reading for this week.
Starting point is 00:11:49 I'll also cover it again once more when we get to the end of July. You can also read your Mars and Taurus horoscope because that will give you a pretty good outline of what's to come. Your Mars and Taurus horoscope is on the homepage of the app. So we can look at this week as a precursor. This is the beginning of a moment that will get challenging. by the end of July, beginning of August, so we can start to prepare for that bumpy moment of time now. Besides that, there are some other cute things that are happening this week,
Starting point is 00:12:28 astrologically speaking. On Friday, July 8th, Mercury makes us square to Jupiter. And this is what I was talking about in the beginning of the episode. There's some big, bold ideas. There's a way in which we can have a broader type of, vision or be inundated with these big grand plans. Conversations will feel inspired and it's a good time to get out into the world and have those conversations again that help you feel safe enough to be vulnerable and to think what it might be to care more about the things that are meaningful
Starting point is 00:13:09 to you and to demonstrate that care in all you say. Then on. On Sunday, July 10th, the sun makes a sex style to Uranus. And this is a moment that feels invigorating. It's time to shine. It's time to care in new and innovative ways. How else can I create family? What does family actually mean to me? How do I create situations that are spontaneous and also deeply connective? How do we create the conditions? Like, what is our intention for gathering? And if, is our intention for gathering about actually connecting and demonstrating, again, that we care for one another. I keep using this word because it's cancer season. Mercury is now in cancer. The sun is in cancer. It's all about creating situations where care is centered and central.
Starting point is 00:14:05 It's such a revolutionary thing to do to actually take the time to spend our resources to spend our life energy, creating environments, creating systems, creating workplaces where care for the individuals that work there is centered. How would our lives and how would our workplaces and how would our world change drastically and dramatically? If everyone felt like they knew where they could go to feel cared for, to feel important, to feel listened to, to know that it was safe enough to be vulnerable and themselves. I think care is our greatest currency. All right, y'all, that is the reading for the week.
Starting point is 00:14:55 Again, check your Mars in Taurus horoscope. Check the reading for your week in the Chani app under the workshop section of the app. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who's left a review in the app store of the Chani app. And I wanted to share a recent one with you. It's titled The Best. By far, the best astrology app, the best reading interpretations, and a lovely voice for the audios to boot. I'm in my 70s.
Starting point is 00:15:31 My mother began studying astrology before I was born, and it has always been part of my life, though I never learned to read and interpret. Since losing her 20-some years ago, I've struggled to find interpretations as understandable and applicable as hers. Finally, Chani is the one, probably even a little better
Starting point is 00:15:53 than my quote unquote built-in astrologer. Sorry, Mom. Highly recommend. Take good care of yourself and each other. Sending you lots of love, many blessings.
Starting point is 00:16:10 Bye for now.
