Hey, I'm just popping on here before the episode to say that while there's nothing wrong with
this week's audio, something happened with the visuals. Mercury wasn't even retrograde,
but the recording on my camera did not happen. I mean, it recorded it, but I couldn't anyways.
I am a one-woman show here. So I did something. I messed it up. We'll be back with the visuals next week.
For now, please enjoy a little funky closed captioning that the team put together for you.
and thank you for tuning in on with the show.
There are some weeks that are just jam-packed with a million different things going on.
There are some weeks that the tension in the air just complicates everything.
There are some weeks where there's just so much friction and annoyance and aggravation.
There's some weeks where there's big, huge moments of fulfillment.
And then there's weeks like this, where there's just not a ton of.
going on. But what is right around the corner is so helpful and so gorgeous and something that I am
so glad we have time to prepare for. Hello and welcome. This is the astrology of the week
ahead podcast. I'm your host, your Astro Bestie, Chani Nicholas. In this episode, we are talking about
the astrology for the week of June 1st, which does not.
have a lot going on. But what it does is it clears the calendar. It clears the slate so that we are
primed and we are ready and we are willing to work with the astrology of June 9th. Next Tuesday,
y'all, next Tuesday is this gorgeous signature that I've been talking about for a long time.
And it's almost here. Next Tuesday, we have Venus and Jupiter meeting up in cancer.
and it's so good. And it's so imbued with the power of what is local. It's so imbued with the power of
neighboring. It's so imbued with the power and the potency of heerness, of being firmly rooted here in
solidarity in every single way we possibly can be. It's so good for anything and everything you are
trying to nourish and bring into the world. And because this week,
is so quiet, astrologically speaking, we're going to spend time preparing the space for the things,
the blessings, the beauty, the sweetness, the wisdom that is coming in. We're going to create space
so that the good things can land and fill us up and hydrate us and nourish us and float us to the next
stop in our journey. This is what is going on this week. On Monday, Mercury is moving
into cancer. Now, in cancer, Mercury doesn't have any superpower. It's not in a super tricky
spot. It's just going to float through cancer. But what's going to happen at the end of June
is that it is going to station retrograde here on June 29th. Mercury will station retrograde in cancer
and it will be retrograde for most of July. So we will have that upcoming. And what it means is now Mercury
is in the part of our chart where it will retrograde through. So we will be doing a review in this
area of our life. And this is the area of our life where that beautiful big boon and bounty and booty
is coming in is landing in our chart next week. So now that mercury is here in cancer,
I want us to practice communicating about.
our needs communicating about what we want to nourish in our life. I want us to be writing,
talking about the thing that we are going to do next Tuesday, June 8th, June 9th, June 10th.
I know that's not just Tuesday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. The first part of next week is just
so full of this potential and this beauty and this sweetness and this opulence and this
abundance. And so now that mercury is in cancer as of Monday, it's kind of like an added extra
layer of concentration on hydrating, nourishing, nurturing, protecting, and helping to
facilitate the life that we want to bring forth, the sweetness, the goodness that we want to bring
forth. And I say all the stuff I say about neighboring and heerness and local life, I describe
this a couple weeks ago in this podcast. But one of the most important things about understanding
anything that happens in cancer is it's going to be happening locally. You know, we say cancer is a
home body that's kind of like part of it. But the other part of it is that the moon is our most
local planetary body. And so it's like right there. You know, think about the moon and then
everything else. Everything else is so far away and the moon is right there with us.
reflecting the ebbs and flows of life and creation and the mysteries really of life.
You know why three is a magical number?
Mostly because the moon goes invisible basically for three days every month,
the day before, during, and after a new moon.
And so there's this magical property to three because that is when the moon diminishes,
goes invisible, and then reappears is reborn.
It is about the process of life and death. It is the process of regeneration and restoration. And so when we talk about Venus and Jupiter coming together in cancer next week, it's powerful when it's local. So I want you to be thinking about how you can facilitate goodness and sweetness and connectivity and networking and ecosystems and hives right around you.
I used the word neighboring as I was borrowing it from the incredible people of the twin cities of Minneapolis
because that is what they did in the face of terrorization of state sanctioned violence of ice
is that they neighbored with each other.
And they did not give up and they did not relent even when the worst case scenarios occurred.
And I'm saying that not in past tense, like in practice.
intense. They do not relent. And so they taught us about neighboring, or it's another example of that
way of being with one another. And I say the word hyrness as it relates to a Yiddish word from the
Jewish labor bund of Eastern Europe, Doiket is a term in Yiddish that is meant to mean
heerness. Like right where I am is where I'm supposed to be.
And right where I am is where I build solidarity.
It's not where I try to reenact supremacy and be above everything.
This is where I am.
And so this is where I will be in connection and in neighboring and in relation with everything
that is around me.
That is the power of Venus and Jupiter in cancer specifically.
Because again, cancer is ruled by the moon.
And the moon is a local planet. And so it's always going to talk about our everyday life.
The moon also has what we call its joy in the third house in traditional astrology.
I know modern astrology relates the moon to the fourth house, but traditional astrology
never did that. It's not a one-to-one in traditional astrology. And so the moon is related
to the third house. It's said to be the temple of the moon or the temple of the goddess, the third
house because there is a way of understanding the moon and everything the moon rules as like a
third space. Right. So in capitalism, one of the things they do is they take away the third
spaces. They take away the commons. They take away the parks. They take away the places where people can
rest and revive themselves and experience beauty, the gardens, the places and nature.
like obviously we still have some, but if they could privatize all of them, they would.
Third spaces are very powerful, potent places because that's where we connect, that's
where we gather, that's where we share information, that's where we build solidarity,
et cetera, et cetera.
It's also so vital to our life force because we have home, we have work.
People have done TED talks about this.
I don't have anybody's name at the top of my list, but I'm sure people in the comment section
will tell us. But there's home, there's work, and then we need other spaces, which of course
used to be temple and mosque and church and all those other things. But in traditional astrology,
we're talking about ancient cultures that had a temple, whosoever temple it was, a temple at the center
of the community. And that was the third space. And that temple would house the money or the grain
or the stores that that community wanted to keep safe and would also have the fire and the worshiping
and it would be that third space that we would go to.
And so the temple of the moon is the third house or the third house is the temple of the moon
in traditional astrology because it speaks about our local environment.
It is like the going to the temple.
We wake up.
Maybe we go to the temple, give an offering.
Or maybe at the end of the day we go to the temple and give an offering.
or maybe that's where we go to get some grain. Maybe that's where we go to meet up with so and so.
Maybe that's where we go to do ritual. Lots of different types of ritual. So the moon is the facilitator of
like that third space, of that daily environment, of the other things we do during the day,
of our neighbors, of our siblings, of all of that. That is what the third house is. And the moon
has its joy in the third house because the moon is about our local life. Okay. I'm
kind of went on a tangent there. All that to say, Mercury is entering cancer this week. So it's good to
talk about the power of the local because Venus and Jupiter are about to meet up in cancer next week.
And that is one of the best signatures we've got all year. I'm not saying that the world will be
amazing next week. But I do assume that there will be something sweet that happens next week.
And if it doesn't happen to us, we can make it happen through us. You know what I mean?
and that's where I put my money. They put my money on us. At least we trust any fools that say
they're in charge with our fortune. No, no. Our fortune is our connection. Our fortune is in forging
our relationships, our friendships, our friendships, and our communal networks and pathways and
ecosystems. So that is where we're going. So Monday, Mercury moves into cancer. I want to talk
all about it. Tuesday, the sun makes a sex style of Saturn. Really cute, really nice, really like
kind of like a nothing. It's not like a huge thing. It's good for solidifying a strategy or solidifying
a plan. Something gets solidified on Tuesday. And then on Wednesday, we have a momentary glitch in the
system, a little glitch in the matrix, which honestly can be good for thinking outside the box
and being like, I'm so delusional. I don't even care what you tell me as reality.
I'm going to go and create this thing. And sometimes Mercury Square Neptune, what's happening on Wednesday,
feels like a little momentary Mercury retrograde. So some details will get lost. Some reality won't get
checked. Some of us will run away with the delusions and take it a little too far. That's our
prerogative. We can do that if we want to. It's really good for dreaming big and boldly and beyond
the limitations that have been set for us, but it is not good for making the math, math. You know what I'm saying?
But I want us to be delusional as we're thinking about the seeds we're planting for next week.
Because being delusional about what we're able to create is important as long as we're clear about
the work it will take. And that's where the real magic happens. Delusional about what the dream
could bring us, what it could unfold into, real about the blood, sweat, tears, grit,
grime, claws in, fangs, bared, like, ready to go, ready to work, ready to do this thing.
Okay. So your main mission this week, again, is making sure that you've got something good to
plant as a seed next Monday, Tuesday, and or Wednesday. You can just do one thing. It doesn't
have to be big. It can be really small, but I just want you to make a point of doing something to
plant a seed of beauty, bounty, and abundance and connection and prosperity in your life
doesn't have to be far away from you. In fact, it should be really local to you.
Focus on the local sweetness that is already here and how you can foster it,
nourish it, and make more of it. All right, y'all, now it's time for a question
from the audience.
Thank you so much for sending these in.
Hi, Chani.
My name's Emma.
Thank you so much for everything you provide.
I learned so much about astrology from you.
One question I have is, what does it mean if you don't have any planets in opposing signs or in opposing houses?
For example, I know someone who doesn't have any planets in their fourth house or their 10th house.
Okay, well, it just means that nothing in the sky when that person was born was in opposition to one another. So there's two different ways of looking at this. There's opposition like the planets are within like 10ish degrees of each other and they're opposing each other and that can be slightly out of sign. Like say something is at 29 degrees of Leo. And instead of something being at 29 degrees of Aquarius, it's at one degree or two degrees.
degrees or three degrees of Pisces. I would still, as a traditional astrologer, still consider that
to be an opposition, even though it's out of sign. So you got to look and see if things are
within like 180 degrees-ish away from each other. But if there's nothing that's like that
and there's nothing in opposing signs from one another, and then, you know, things can be
really far apart, but in opposing signs and in whole sign houses or in certain aspects of traditional
astrology, if something's at, say, 29 degrees of Leo, but another thing is at one degree of Aquarius,
I would consider that an opposition. I just wouldn't consider it a very super tense one.
But if you don't have any of those things, then there's just not a lot of oppositional force
in one's life, you know, and that's maybe really nice. I don't know what that's like.
I've got, I don't have a ton of oppositions in my chart, but I have some pretty significant ones.
And so I know that that dynamic creates an oppositional kind of experience in my life.
So when people have something, you know, though I really, I also will consider like if you don't have any planets in the first house, but say you have Mars in the seventh house, that's going to feel like an opposition because Mars is the house directly opposite of the first house.
The first house is you.
And so if you have a planet like Mars or Saturn or Pluto or Uranus or something in your seventh
house, that can feel like an opposition.
It's not technically one, but it is technically opposing your ascendant.
If something is the same sign as your descendant, it's technically opposing your ascendant,
which is different than planet to planet.
But because it's opposing your first house, that can feel like a kind of attack sometimes
or it can feel like a really nice balance other times. It's a little bit of both, usually,
all of the time. And that's the thing about oppositions. It's a seesaw. It's a teeter-totter.
We need things to balance us out. God willing, somebody balances me out. I mean, thank God,
my wife does. It was hard when she wasn't there because it was pretty, you know, imbalance.
I need that oppositional force in my life. So oppositions are really important. They stretch us.
They pull us out to the other side of the equation.
They help us see things from another point of view, hopefully.
And then they can also feel really adversarial.
Like who's going to win?
It's a tug of war.
No one gets out of it.
It's just like, okay, well, I will win and then I will win.
And then I will win and then I will win.
And maybe we can find a balance.
That's always the best case scenario where both sides are getting met.
But when you don't have that oppositional force, who or what in your life pulls you
out, who or what in your life balances you out, who or what in your life helps you to see the other
side of something, then you've got to supplement that in. So if you're missing an aspect
configuration or element in your chart, then you have to find that somewhere else.
You have to get that somewhere else. You have to be like, okay, well, I'll make that up over here,
but it might not be naturally occurring. Like, I remember somebody in my family didn't have any
squares in their chart and they had a ton of talent and not a lot of friction, not a lot of action
to actualize the talent. And that's not true for everybody who doesn't have squares. They also
had a lot of trines. So it was like a lot of gifts, but not a lot of like tumults, not a lot of
like aggravation, not a lot of things to spur into action. So we need everything.
And when we don't have something, then we need to, again, supplement it.
We need to consciously be like, oh, I don't have that.
I need to make sure I get it.
And then if you have only oppositions, but you have no squares, you might get stuck in a push and pull or in a tug of war.
And it might feel like that or stuck on the seesaw.
If you have something else squaring that opposition in modern astrology, they call it a T-square.
then that will activate another kind of aspect of the configuration.
It can spur you into action to get you out of that constant state of like, well, maybe this or maybe that or maybe this.
So, maybe that.
So again, if you don't have the oppositional force in your life, then maybe you don't spend a lot of time weighing the options or being in that place of being overly on this side or overly on that side.
I'd have to see the chart to really see where else it might show up.
So look for out of sign oppositions, I would say within three degrees of an out of sign opposition.
Look to see if something is in the seventh house because that will feel oppositional or look to see if something's opposing the midheaven or the I see or right by the midheaven or the I see because that could feel opposing to like opposing the angles in the chart might also feel or give you that sense of an oppositional force, but especially if something is near the.
descendant, the D.C. in the seventh house. That'll feel like, oh, who are you over there kind of thing.
That's what we're meeting the opposite. We're meeting another force in front of us if something's
in the seventh house. All right, y'all, thank you so much for the questions. Please keep sending
them in. What do you want to learn about? What do you want to know? What's the thing that you're
struggling with? And for those of you that are learning how to read your chart and your partner's chart,
to your family's chart, send in questions about it so I can help you to further decipher it
and make the most of these gorgeous tools and these skills that we can all hone together.
Okay, come back next week.
We'll talk about the Jupiter-V Venus conjunction and how to work with it and what you're going
to do with it and how we're going to make the most of it.
Bye for now.
