Okay, I don't want to alarm anyone, but we are almost halfway through 2022.
It is the solstice this week. It's about to be summer in the northern hemisphere.
This is the moment where if you planted seeds of intention at the winter solstice in December
or at the turning of the calendar year on January 1st, this is now the halfway point.
You can look to those intentions you set, to those goals you mapped out, to whatever mind maps you illustrated, and take stock.
How far have you come?
Which ideas just really didn't pan out and you can kind of let go and compost.
And which ones actually started to take form?
What did you nurture and invest in?
And what has started to come into being?
This is the astrology of the week ahead, and I'm your host, Chani Nicholas.
In this podcast, we look at the astrology of the upcoming week and how it will be landing for all of us collectively.

And in this episode, we are looking at the week of June 20th.
Astronomically speaking, there's also something quite spectacular and rare happening in the pre-dawn sky.
Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn are lining up in that order, which is actually also their planetary order.
And on June 24th, the crescent moon will be hanging out with them.
So if you get up before sunrise, I know, but I'm telling you it'll be worth it.
You'll be able to spot the crescent moon in the sky, the waning crescent moon in the sky.
And with it, you'll see all of those other five planets lined up in order about 45 minutes or so before sunrise.
We've got an article on the website about it, channing nicholas.com, if you want to learn a little bit more about it.
astrologically speaking, in my humble but professional opinion, this week is really cute. It's got
just a few little moments and they're all filled with their own kind of delightful disposition.
So let's start with June 20th Monday. Mercury is in Gemini. This is the planet of communication.
This is how we exchange information and intel. Mercury is in a place.
Gemini, where it is very strong, meaning communications come in a flurry. They're exciting. They're
lighthearted. And there's a kind of whirlwind of conversations going on. So that's already great.
But on Monday, it makes a very helpful relationship, sex style, with Jupiter, planet of expansion
and optimism and faith and philosophy and law. And Jupiter,
thinks really big and Mercury thinks in terms of tiny little details. And when these two come together
in a supportive moment like they are on Monday, they can help us do both. They can help us think
really big and also organize all of the data and info and details needed to make that big plan
come to life. So on Monday, we are most likely going to be met with some really positive
statements or encouraging conversations or plans that inspire us to think outside of narrow limitations.
Now, Mercury and Gemini already made this sex style to Jupiter in Ares, but it happened while
Mercury was still retrograde. So what that means is we might be circling back around to a conversation
or to a moment that feels really familiar or that we straight up recognize from May 19th, which is the last
time they did this. So you might go back and look at your calendars and your date books and see what
you were doing around May 19th and take note if anything is coming back around for a second chance,
so to speak. And then on Tuesday, but you might feel this on Monday, Venus makes a trine to Pluto.
This is very deep and cathartic, but also very empowering and helps our relationships in some way,
shape or form. It also helps us to receive some kind of beauty or pleasure or to understand
the power of making space for what delights us in our life. And then at 2.14 a.m. Pacific time on June
21st, the solstice arrives. The sun moves in to cancer. We start to feel the illumination of the
sentiments of the sign, which are care, nourishment, nurturing, bonding, family, and
cultivating a sense of connectivity.
Cancer is a very fertile sign.
It is obviously the waters of creation, the waters of the womb, of the amniotic sack.
It is the place where life begins to form.
and it is the birth of much.
So as the sun moves into cancer in the northern hemisphere,
we start to experience summer.
In the southern hemisphere, of course,
starting to experience winter.
We're moving into a very drastic seasonal shift,
usually, depending on where you are.
But for most of us,
it is that moment of extreme heat or cold.
obviously it is an extreme moment of light or dark.
And so it really does impact the ways in which we experience life.
And the ancients, every ancient culture the world over had some kind of relationship to the sun's solar journey.
We had to, that was how we lived.
We had to understand seasonally what was going on because we needed to eat.
And so we needed to know when there would be an abundance of food or when there would be a scarcity of food.
So these moments solstices and equinox, they tap us into something that's really deeply rooted and embedded in us that is ancient,
that knows that to mark these moments is essential and key to our ability to thrive.
And now, of course, we're divorced from the earth and its cycles in so many ways.
but there's still a yearning for us internally, I think, to connect with these cycles,
because they keep us in step with something bigger than ourselves.
And they also help us to contextualize time so that we don't always feel like,
oh, my goodness, we're running out of time or just rushing through life.
Marking things like new moons and full moons and solstices and equinoxes is an ancient practice for many reasons.
And I do think one of them has always been psychological.
It helps us to slow down and say, ah, there's a shift occurring.
Let me take note of it.
Let me bear witness to the way in which the light is shifting,
to the way in which the earth is ripening or going dormant,
the ways in which the night is super dark or totally illuminated.
And bearing witness to these moments of transition can help give meaning to our life, especially if we mark them consciously with friends, with gatherings, with some kind of intention, which is really all you need to do for this solstice.
This is a moment that's easy to celebrate because collectively it's something that we are all experiencing at the same moment.
And why not? Why not have more festivals?
Why not have more moments of all of us gathering outside?
Why not have more moments where we are all marking it with no other intention but just getting together and having a good time.
Enjoying one another's company.
Enjoying some part of nature.
Enjoying the light.
Enjoying life.
Like it doesn't have to be deep.
It doesn't have to be about manifesting anything.
It doesn't have to be about achieving anything.
In fact, it shouldn't be.
It should just be about whatever delights us, whatever feels healing, and whatever fills us up.
This world takes a lot just to get through every day.
So why not use these moments, work with these moments, and mark these moments with something that feels like sustenance.
And it is cancer season.
So, you know, it wants us to feel connected and to nurture our connections.
Okay, so that's my solstice lecture.
And then on the 22nd on Wednesday, there is another little astrological event.
It is Venus moving in to Gemini.
Venus has left its home sign of Taurus, where it was grounded in all the sensual pleasures,
and it is moving into the fields of butterflies and fireflies and social extravaganzas.
It will be here until July 17th. So it should bring some lightness. It should bring some levity. And it is going to
quench our thirst for a diverse array of delights. Gemini wants a little bit of everything. And Venus wants
the things that are pleasing and beautiful and sweet and luxurious and lovely. So we're going to want to chat a lot about that.
We're going to want to meet with a lot of different people.
We're going to want to learn about new and fascinating ways to engage with the things that we love and the people that we love.
It's flirting season.
The only other thing that you need to know is that next week's new moon in cancer is one of the best of the year.
It's on June 28th.
And next week we will have a big old discussion about it.
But until then, just consider what it is you're nurturing and nourishing and caring for and how you might show up in your life to care a little more.
Before we go, I just wanted to say thank you all so much for leaving a review in the app store.
And I wanted to share a recent one with you that I loved.
This one's title is Three Fire Emoges.
Chani and Company are amazing.
this is the most comprehensive astrology app.
It's so helpful to contextualize what's happening in the sky.
I'm blown away by the generosity of the team and the commitment to social justice.
Also, I could listen to Chani's silky smooth voice all day filled with intelligence, humor, kindness.
Well, thank you.
Thank you so much.
Heart.
All right, Jell, that's it.
That is the reading for the week.
Listen, I'm sending all of that.
of the solstice blessings. I hope it is a moment of extreme care, connection, sweetness,
and maybe crying, who knows, you know, go wild. It is about to be cancer season.
Sending you lots of love, many blessings. Bye for now.
