Starting point is 00:02:00 The last eclipse of the season occurs on May 15th slash May 16th depending on your time zone. It's a lunar eclipse. It's in Scorpio. And it's near the south node, which means that this is a moment of deep emptying out. So at least at the beginning of this week, I highly recommend that you go slow, that you do not forsake your body's needs for anything, and that you take extra special good care of yourself and others. This is the astrology of the week ahead, and I'm your host, Chani Nicholas. In this podcast, we look at the astrology of the upcoming week and how it will be landing for for all of us collectively.

In this episode, we're talking about the astrology of the week of May 16th. And this week, at least at the beginning of the week, we're all a little more likely to feel raw, to feel a little drained, to feel like we've been put through the ringer, at least the first couple of days of the week. So the lunar eclipse in Scorpio happens at 9.14 p.m. Pacific time on Sunday the 15th, which if you're not in Pacific time, anywhere else in the world, is obviously made. 16th on the Monday. And right before the eclipse, the sun squares Saturn, which in all honesty can feel like a little bit of a bummer, a drag, a wall we come up against, or a reality check.
Starting point is 00:05:18 The sun wants to shine. Saturn is the major taskmaster authoritarian. They clash. So we're having a moment of like pause and also a moment that asks us to understand the parameters that we are within. Saturn teaches us very deep lessons. I think because it can feel so real, right? It's not something that is distant from us. Saturn brings things into form and it shows us the obstacles that are in front of us in a very real and present way. So this eclipse is speaking to something that could be in our way, an obstacle of some sort, or a limitation that we're up against. But because it's an eclipse, it's speaking to something that is part of a longer story. So this is the first eclipse that we're having in Scorpio near the South Node. The next eclipse will be in October in Scorpio.
Starting point is 00:06:29 And then there'll be another eclipse in 2023, May 5th in Scorpio. And we won't know the full story of this set of eclipses until then. So we're in this moment for the next year. This is the first, and there will be two more chapters in this story. And because Saturn is square, this eclipse, again, it does feel quite defining. This is an eclipse in. Scorpio and Scorpio always speaks about death and transformation and loss and what we need to eventually learn how to let go of or at least we need to learn how to stop trying to control
Starting point is 00:07:16 something. But because it's Scorpio, it's a fixed water sign, it can often try to control one's emotions as a way of not being vulnerable. I'm not saying people with the sun and Scorpio. I'm just saying this energy in its extreme can show up like that. So this is a really good moment to reckon with that part of ourselves. What are we trying to control so that we don't have to experience the sometimes excruciating vulnerability of knowing that we aren't in control. We are in relationship with life, but we're not in control of it. And this eclipse might bring up some of those deeper feelings. Because it's a south node eclipse, it is asking us to release or let go of something. The south node of the moon is a point in space. And it was thought in
Starting point is 00:08:18 many cultures the world over that the north and south node of the moon was a dragon that ate or covered up the light of the sun or the moon. The hungry head of the dragon, the north node where the last eclipse just happened, has a kind of rapaciousness, a hunger that gobbles things up. And the south node, the tail of the dragon, is thought to sweep things away. It is a point of release or emptying out. So not only is this eclipse in Scorpio, which already speaking, to composting or transforming or loss and letting go, but it's also a South Note eclipse, which speaks to a clearing or a cleansing. Whether we enjoy it or not, it's happening. So we're best served to go with this energy. It's in our best interest to surrender to the moment. And in the
Starting point is 00:09:20 process of doing so, we are transformed. There's something else that is waiting for us once we loosen our grip and stop trying to hold on to everything with such tenacity. Now, because Scorpio is such a subterranean sign, this eclipse might not bring about very obvious events at this moment. But again, this is the beginning of a story that unfolds for the next year. So it's just about gathering the information and the intel that is coming through at this time and seeing how the story unfolds over the next year. So one of the most important things to note about an eclipse is what area, what part of your chart it is falling in. And if you go to the homepage of the app, of the Channy app, then you'll get a horoscope for this eclipse for you.
Starting point is 00:10:26 And it'll signal where exactly this is happening. And then, of course, in the Chani app, there's also a reading for you that's specific to your chart. And that is for subscribers and folks that are trying out our free 30-day trial at the moment. Knowing what area of your life this eclipse is impacting knowing what house it's falling in can make all the difference. You might be feeling this as just a general full moon, lunar eclipse, moon and Scorpio moment, which is to say there's emotional intensity, there is a extreme kind of feeling in the air, or you might just be physically drained. But most likely if you pay attention to the area of your chart that this is happening in, you'll notice a story that starts to unfold with this eclipse and the next couple.
Starting point is 00:11:23 All right. Let's look at the astrology of the rest of the week. The planet that rules this eclipse is Mars in the traditional astrological system for a couple thousand years. Mars was the ruler of Scorpio before we discovered Pluto. So I work with traditional rulers. And if you look at what Mars is doing, during this eclipse, it's really fascinating. Mars is in Pisces applying to a conjunction with Neptune at the time of the eclipse, and by the 17th of May, it is perfected. And Mars is a planet of direction and aggression and fighting for what we need to do and carving out our own path and going our own
Starting point is 00:12:06 way. In Pisces, it moves possibly in multiple directions at one. it's also a really good surfer because of the water element that it's in. If it's going to move, it has to move with water. So when it makes a conjunction with Neptune, the god of fog and bliss and spacing out and delusions and allusions, it is put to the test. How do you move through fog very slowly. You actually have to surrender to it. You can't force it to go anywhere. You can't push it. You can't move it. You're just in it. So as the ruler of this eclipse, there is this theme of letting go or surrendering our will to something higher or bigger. There's a bigger mission at play here. And we can't just go in the direction that we want to go and make everything happen in the way we want to
Starting point is 00:13:08 want to make it. It might feel confusing. It might feel like we're getting lost. But if we stop trying to push our way through the moment, we'll be able to find our way slowly through it. When you're in fog, you have to slow all the way down. You cannot move fast. So again, the beginning of this week, go slow. Find your way through. Let the confusion or the fog pass. But as it does, also remember to let it attune you to your inner compass. Instead of always trying to push outward, this eclipse, this first couple of days of this week, is really trying to help us move inward. So what happens when you do that?
Starting point is 00:13:57 All right. Then by the 19th, things do start to shift. The sun makes a really helpful, powerful, powerful trying to Pluto. It feels like it's kind of getting re-eastern. energized after those two eclipses we just had. And Mercury is retrograde right now, so confusions do abound just by way of Mercury retrograde. But on the 19th, it makes a really beautiful sex style to Jupiter bringing through something that feels like or actually is good news. On the 20th at 6.23 p.m. Pacific time, the sun moves into Gemini, and it is Gemini season.
Starting point is 00:14:37 Then on the 21st, the sun and mercury come together. This is called a Kazimi or Mercury moving into the heart of the sun. This is the most powerful part of Mercury retrograde's cycle. This is a clarity. This is a shift of perspective. This is Mercury getting infused with the solar light and power that it needs now. This is a Mercury Kazimi in Gemini. It's a really good one. It's really beautiful because Mercury belongs in Gemini or is the ruler of Gemini.
Starting point is 00:15:15 And a Mercury Kazimi is one of those moments that is there to work with because it gives us downloads and it allows us to witness, understand, know what was withheld from us before. So if you have something to say or if you have a pen and paper or if you have an email to send that you're like, oh no, but it's Mercury retrograde, this is the day to send it. So the Kazimi happens at 1218 p.m. Pacific time. And that is the precise moment to use. But the day in and of itself has that quality of getting that moment of clarity. And it's like, you know, after the muddiness and the confusion of eclipse season, and the upheaval that eclipse season can often bring.
Starting point is 00:16:05 By the 21st, we get this recalibration. All right, y'all, that is the reading. That is the week ahead. This week starts out on a deep note. So please take your time, take care of yourselves, take care of each other. It'll go an incredibly long way if you do. Sending you lots of love, many blessings.
Starting point is 00:16:31 Bye for now. You know,
