Three things about this week.
One, it's full of new beginnings that require our radical honesty.
Two, it's also full of rude awakenings.
Three, it's going to end with a lot of sweetness and a lot of help and a lot of hope.
Hello and welcome.
This is the astrology of the week ahead podcast.
I'm your host, your Astro Bestie, Channy Nicholas, in this.
episode, we are talking about the week of November 17th. Thanks to you all. Every single year,
we totally completely sell out of the Chani Astro Planner. And I cannot wait for you to get your
hands on this year's. 2026 is full of 300 pages, of rituals, of reflections, of details
about every single astrological transit that you need to know about this year.
year. This is how you plan for a year of success. This is such a lovely companion to the weekly readings
on the Chani app, to the yearly readings on the Chani app, to the daily horoscopes on the Chani app,
to all of it and then some. You get to understand like, oh, yeah, that's what she was talking about
there and here and oh, this is how I see it showing up in my life. It has daily little journal prompts
and reflections. It has new moon, full moon rituals. And as always, sets of the
cutest stickers you've ever seen in your life. They are the collages from the Chani app. You get to
work with them in your little Astro Planner. My favorite is also the monthly pages because you can
just get to understand like what is going on for the month week to week day to day, all at the same
time. And I extra, extra love the mood of the month section. Every single month we have written out a
synopsis of what this month is all about. And then you can do a little tarot card pull, write your
tarot cards down for the month. At the end of the month, you can go back and be like, uh-huh,
yes, I was the fool quite a bit, wasn't I? But like I said, every single year, they sell out.
So go ahead to channy.com to grab yours. Now I cannot wait to see what you do with this year.
Y'all, when there is a week that has not one, not two, but three signatures that are all saying
the same thing, we need to pay attention because this is astrology that we can work with.
And yes, I'm going to say it.
This is breakthrough astrology.
This is a great time to do the breakthrough course.
I promise you, this astrology is going to kind of like grab us by the collar and shake us awake.
It's passionate. It's loud. It is going to evoke some of the deepest emotional responses from us,
which might not be fun in the moment, but I promise you this. When it is that felt, when it is something that
feels so energetically alive, let's say, we pay attention. So my question to you is,
what is awakening in you that you can no longer deny or hide from or be asleep to?
Please wake up to it.
This week is asking us.
It's begging us.
Actually, no, it's just demanding that we wake up, that we wake up to our power, that we wake up
to our potential, and that we wake up to and take part in the breakthroughs and the
transformations that are ready to occur.
and that will occur whether we are involved or whether we resist.
Look, we get to choose what type of struggle we're going to be in in this life.
Because in this life, there's going to be struggle, and there's going to be pain,
and there's going to be sacrifice, and there will be things that will be tremendously difficult.
And we get to choose.
Are we going to be engaged with what is difficult?
Are we going to be active participants of our transformation?
Or are we going to be at the whim of it?
Are we going to feel like things are happening to us or they're happening with us?
That's my positive take on this week's astrology.
And it's not bad astrology.
It's intense astrology.
So we need to meet it with an intensity.
We need to meet it being in our own inner villain kind of era.
And I mean that.
in the way that a really good villain, we understand as being somebody who hasn't dealt with
their pain yet. So what part of you hasn't dealt with the pain, the sheer pain of existence,
the sheer pain of being human, that needs to be understood on a deeper level. That's the kind of
like part of us that we want to deny or shun. That's a part of us that can feel a bit like a monster
or something that we're ashamed of. But what part of us have we yet?
to fully bring into our conscious awareness or bring into our circle of compassion, right?
Like we are good at having compassion for certain parts of us, for certain people, internal,
external.
Like, oh, yeah, I can feel, I can feel like, oh, it's too bad.
I, you know, didn't get this or it's, you know, I feel, I can feel compassion for myself
because of this and this.
But what about when I really mess up?
Like, what about when I'm really in the wrong?
What about when I do something that's like, yeah, I was wrong to do that.
Can I still feel compassion for myself when I'm humiliated because of my own actions?
It's that kind of weak.
Not for everybody, maybe, but there's an element of it.
And why?
Okay.
This week, we're in Scorpio season.
Mercury is moving back in, it's retrograding back into Scorpio.
Mercury and the sun and the moon are all coming together.
there's a new moon, there's a Mercury Kazimi, they're all Newman energies, they're all new
beginnings. And it's all happening in an opposition to Uranus, which is a planet of like
shocking awakenings and breakthroughs and disruptions. And it's all happening to this
conglomeration, this this coming together of planets in Scorpio. So what does Scorpio deal with?
It deals with the secrets and the mysteries and the feelings that are deep,
deep, deep, deep, deep, deep, deep below the surface. So if those get awakened, if those have a
breakthrough, if those break through the surface of our conscious awareness, then it's going to be
the stuff that's the hardest for us to admit, to acknowledge, to accept, to be like,
yep, that's also part of me. I am my own problematic fave. Like, I too have all that shadow. I too
have all those complicated parts. I too have, you know, things I got to work on. And this week's
astrology will tend to bring those things to the surface. Okay, let's get into it. On Monday,
the sun makes a trend to Saturn. Great. Love it. Fine, sturdy, steadying, studying. We're going to
need that kind of like consolidated energy. Also, Mercury on the edge, just about to scogege
back into Scorpio. Mercury and Saj still makes a textile to Pluto. Very helpful astrology on Monday.
Great conversations. Deep conversations. Feel sturdy. Feel solid. What is Cheney talking about? Everything's
going to be great. No problems here. Tuesday, Mercury moves back into Scorpio. Again, we want to talk about
the mysteries. We want to start to talk about, investigate, translate the secret text. It's like,
you know, that text that's like in the invisible ink and you're like, oh, what is it? Very much that.
Then on Wednesday, Mercury makes an opposition to Uranus. This is where the like shocking
truths or the rude that was like you were a little too correct when you said that thing to me,
that's when those kind of sentiments start to come up. Fine, not a huge deal. But the new moon
also happens that day. And again, basically Mercury, the sun and the moon are all together, all
sitting in opposition to Uranus. So this is a new moon to be very real with yourself about what you
want to do, what you're touching down onto, and what you want to begin. I wouldn't necessarily use,
I don't use a new moon in Scorpio to begin things. Everybody does their magic differently. Everyone does
their little manifestation things differently. I don't use new moons in Scorpio to do.
new projects externally. Because the moon has a hard time in Scorpio and you really want the moon
in an excellent place when you choose a chart to begin something. So what new moons in Scorpio are
really good for is understanding the layers, understanding the subtext, understanding the subconscious,
understanding the feelings that lay beneath, like what lays beneath? What's underneath the
floorboards? Like what is under that sentiment? Why does that?
they say that? Why do I feel that? What's the next level, the onion layer of healing that I'm doing?
That's what New Moons and Scorpio are good for. They're good for being real with yourself.
And for remembering your power. If I resist a feeling, if I force, if I try to force a solution,
I'm not in my place of agency or power. I'm not in my place of agency or power. I'm not in
with a natural kind of transformation. If I'm observing, if I'm curious, if I have some kind of
humor about a scenario, especially when it's myself, when I'm the scenario, if I'm able to be like,
huh, I wonder if, what about this, what about that, if I'm able to see something from multiple
viewpoints that's in my life, that's a problem, quote unquote, or difficult, then I'm going to be more in
line with a kind of transformative experience. But in order for me to do that, I'm going to have
to sit with the quote-unquote negative feelings. I'm going to have to sit with the difficult
feelings. I'm going to have to sit with what is uncomfortable. That's what Scorpio asks us to do.
Scorpio is the compost heap. Scorpio is the snake shutting its skin. Scorpio is the process of transformation
and transmutation. It's gross, but it's powerful. You can't get to your power if you're not able
to incorporate all of the self, the whole of the self. You can't be in your power if you're resisting
any part of yourself. So this new moon is exceptional at waking us up to the things that we have
been resisting in ourself, maybe in the world, maybe in our relationships, maybe in our conversations.
Our conversations certainly seem to be very lively. On Thursday the 20th, then there's a Mercury
Kazimi. That's the exact Kazimi. But again, that's the exact Kazimi. But again,
clarity, that insight that comes that I was talking about on Wednesday, that shocking awareness
is like as soon as Mercury goes into Scorpio. So really like the end part of Tuesday, deep into Wednesday,
deep into Thursday and into Friday. It's just like one after the other, after the other.
So this section of the week from Tuesday to Friday and really deeply Wednesday, Thursday,
we are going to be like, oh, that's what's going on. Oh, that's what's happening. Oh, that's what you meant.
Hold on. How did I not understand that? Wait, has this been going on the whole time? It's that kind of like unveiling,
awakening, revealing. Because remember, Mercury's retrograde. So we're still looking at what doesn't work.
We're still looking at like, wait a minute, I didn't know that that text didn't get sent. You never got the info.
That's why I haven't heard from you. It's all of those like secrets being revealed going back to figure
things out. And I think in the greater context, like in the newsrooms, in the news cycles and on our
news feeds, we'll be hearing about some secrets that, you know, are being revealed. It's just that
time of year. It's just that type of week. It's just this astrology. It's time. On Friday,
the sun then makes the opposition to Uranus. It's been happening all week, but it's exact on Friday.
So again, little explosion, little light works, fireworks, a little bit of like, whoa, didn't know.
Okay.
But we've had surprises all week.
But, you know, Friday, there's just a little bit more, a little bit more of a spotlight there.
Then the sun makes a trine to Neptune.
Fine.
It's lovely.
It's dreamy.
And then it moves into Sajj.
Now we've shifted.
Now we're moving into the part of the year that is about our adventures, our inner adventures.
and the ways in which we want to move because of what we believe, right?
Saj is like, this is my philosophy, this is my truth.
I am the archer.
I move in the direction of my North Star, if you will.
So fingers crossed, we're going to be talking about what we believe in,
and that's going to be part of the focus.
Then on Saturday, Mercury does something really lovely.
Now we're starting to shift. By Saturday, the news starts to get really good. Mercury makes it
trying to Saturn. It's very stabilizing. Then it makes it trying to Jupiter. Very optimistic.
Like, oh, okay, we got through the rough and ready tumble, rock and roll kind of astrology of the
midsection of the week. By the time I get to Saturday, it's like, okay, we're piecing everything
back together. Now it's starting to make sense. Okay, this isn't bad. This is actually good.
And then on Sunday, the sun makes a sex style to Pluto, which is lovely. It's great. It's empowering.
Again, it's a nice way to end the week. Last week, we got to end the week with the sun trying Jupiter.
This Sunday, it sexiles Pluto, so it feels like we can do something with all of that disruption that happened this week.
We can transmute it in some way, shape, or form. Now it's time for our Ask Me Anything question.
You all have been leaving me questions, audio files in the app, and I'm loving it.
Please, please do so.
Astro Besties, please.
Hi, Chani.
Hi.
I have a question about the descendant.
Mm.
Love.
In context, I'm a verger rising.
Okay.
With a descendant in Pisces.
The ruler of my ascendant, Mercury, is in the ninth house, Torres.
Great.
Love.
And the ruler of my descendant, Jupiter, is in the 10th house, Gemini.
Yes.
Now, in my committed relationships and partnerships, I rarely attract that Pisan energy.
Interestingly enough, I'm usually the person that brings in the Pysian energy or people bring that out of me, especially as I've gotten older.
So I just want to know, is the descendant line really about the other person or can we actually embody the descendant over time?
Love. Okay. First of all, I need us to get.
solid and to get on the same track in terms of what do you mean by Pisces energy? Like,
do you mean that you bring love into the relationship? Do you mean you bring like a dreaminess?
Do you mean you're the one who brings the compassion? What do you mean by you bring the Pisces energy?
That's one of my things. Another thing is that because the ruler of your ascendant, i.e., the
planet that steers the direction of your life, is in the ninth house. The ninth house is about
philosophy. It is about religion. It is about spirituality. It is about astrology. It is about
wisdom traditions. It is about traveling. It is about all of those things that do have correlations
and similarities with Jupiter. So I don't know if that's also what you mean you bring in.
Like there's a, you have a natural teacher energy. You have a natural like professor energy.
You have a natural maybe cult leader energy. Just kidding. But you know what I mean? Like you can be like a
spiritual leader, teacher, or someone who is espousing wisdom. You're ruled by Mercury,
the planet of communication and teaching and magic. And it's in that place of religion,
spirituality, academia, travel, media, publishing, all of that. So it's very much about that.
So I don't know if you mean that you bring that kind of like teaching philosophical kind of energy
into the relationships. And one of the things I would say is like if I was looking at your chart and you were
like, what about relationships for me? I would go to your Jupiter first. Like, if you have planets in the
seventh house, which I don't think you do because I think you would have said it, I'd be like,
oh, okay, there's planets here. So that also describes your person or the people you partner with.
But because your Jupiter's in the 10th house, my main thing is like, how do your relationships
help you publicly? Or how do your relationships end up in the public? Or how do your relationships
end up professional or which of your most important partnerships are also professional or
about something that you do out in the world.
And does it have to do with teaching or travel or something to do with religion or
philosophy?
Does it have to do with law or policy?
That's another, you know, mark of what we're talking about in terms of your Mercury being
the ninth house and Jupiter being your 10th house.
And do you hold a place of like the person, again, the teacher, the wisdom holder or someone who's
espousing something in that nature because Jupiter is also angular in your chart. It's also up in
your 10th house. And again, does it have something to do with your relationships or partnerships?
And yes, I mean, let's see. I also want to know where your son is. Like, is your son in Gemini near Jupiter?
is your son and Taurus? Because I know that like when somebody's, the ruler of somebody's
descendant is next to their son, it can feel like, oh, I'm also that. Like I am both my ascendant
and descendant because the planet carries that energy with it. So I'd also want to know
if there was any connection between Jupiter and your son. And I think that in terms of like
understanding your descendant as Pisces, when I look at someone's descendant, it's like a wish list
that I want for them in a lot of ways. And so with your descendant in Pisces, I want someone to help
you to open and to relax and to receive and to be kind of like in the flow and in the trust of life
and any of your virgarizing tendencies to need to like work, work, work and get things right,
if a partner could come along and like hold something in the environment for you that would help
you to like be more open and more receptive.
And also someone who is healing in some way or brings in a kind of healing energy or relaxing
energy or poetic energy. And maybe if you're the one who does that, I guess my question would be,
what would it be like for you to have that to receive that? I think that's really what it's about.
Like, if I think about my own chart and people that I know, yes, I have been both my ascendant
and descendant. And sometimes it's worked. And, you know, we need to be our whole chart always. But
I know that my wife very much holds the sign-based qualities of my descendant. She's not that sign,
but there's a resonance there with who she is and what the qualities of that sign are. And so I've had
to be the qualities of that sign in a way that kind of exhausted me or I did it in a way that
wasn't necessarily healthy or I had to do it in a way when I was younger. And when I met her,
it was like she held that for me so I could relax and I could bring things into being.
Like having someone fully embody the descendant in my chart allowed me to let go of having to hold
the tension of everything, I think. And it allowed me to receive and to build and to create and to do a lot of stuff.
So I think I also need to know a little bit more about how.
how it functions in your life. And if that's a good thing, if it's a tiring thing, if you get
drained in relationships, if you give over too much in relationships, if you become a dormat
in relationships, not that that's, you know, has to be a Pisces signature, but that could be a
part of it. Like, is there a leakiness in the relationships? Or do you have really good relationships
where you feel like I'm both the Virgo and the Pisces in the situation and what are your
partners bringing in? But my main thing is like, are your partnerships connected to or
have you ever had a partnership that helped you in your career, that helped you build something
out in the world? Because that's where I think things really come alive. The ruler of your
descendant is also going to tell you so much about what the relationships in your life want to do
or where they would be really successful. Not that you can't have like a private self in a relationship,
but not everything has to go to career or go to the outside world, but there's something really
exciting and fulfilling for you about having relationships where they propel you out into the world
in some way and help you take up a lot of space or help you to teach or help you to kind of fulfill
something that is academic or spiritual in nature. All right, y'all. That's such a good question.
I hope that was helpful. Please leave me your question. Record it, little voice memo me in the app,
in the Chani app, and I will answer it as soon as I possibly can.
I'm sending you so much love. Look, come back. Next week, we have a gorgeous Venus trine Jupiter.
One of the best things we can have. It's so good. And we need it. We need every little piece of good astrology we can get.
And also next week, Mercury Station's Direct. So I'm looking forward to both of those things. I'll see you back here then.
Until then, take really good care of yourselves and each other.
Bye for now.
