Astrology of the Week Ahead with Chani Nicholas - The Week of October 3rd, 2022: Mercury trines Pluto, then Pluto stations direct

Episode Date: October 3, 2022

In this podcast, New York Times bestselling author and astrologer Chani Nicholas discusses the astrology of the week and what it might mean for us all. The astrology of the week of October 3rd, 2022, ...is here to help us solve some problems and focus on a path forward. Though the beginning of the week is relatively quiet, on Thursday, Mercury in Virgo makes a trine to Pluto and does something helpful for the first time in a week. (Cue applause.) Here, the planet of communication shows us the missing pieces in our conversations and adds depth to our exchanges. Then on Saturday, Pluto — the planet of transformation — stations direct in Capricorn. Pluto has been in Capricorn since 2008, focusing its underground shifts on our economic systems, but as it approaches the final stretch in the cardinal earth sign, it raises the stakes and encourages us to center our personal power and push for the changes we so desperately need. Starting point is 00:00:46 download the Channy app for iPhone. In this episode, we are looking at the astrology of the week of October 3rd. Now, this week is fairly quiet until the very end of the week. So on Thursday, October 6th, Mercury, still in Virgo, no longer retrograde, Q, applause, is making it trying to Pluto. And the big news is that this week, Pluto stations direct, Pluto stations direct, on the 8th of October on Saturday. So from Thursday to Saturday, there's something really interesting happening, which is that Mercury is moving forward finally. it's still in its post-retrograde shadow phase,
Starting point is 00:01:39 which means that it's picking up the pieces. You know when you lose your keys and you go back to find them and finally you find them and then you have to like go back to where you were in life before you realize you missed them. That's what Mercury is doing. Mercury's like, okay, I found the thing. Now I have to like go forward and get back to where I was just to get to square one. So Mercury is helping us to put the pieces back.
Starting point is 00:02:05 together. It's helping us to be like, oh, that was this conversation that I was having weeks ago. Only now does it make sense because I'm just putting all of the pieces together. Now it's starting to become much more clear. And look, Mercury just Station direct in a really challenging aspect. It was opposing Neptune, which made everything really. unclear and confusing and messy. So on Thursday, when it finally trines Pluto, it's actually moving into a place where it's helpful for the first time in like a week. So on Thursday, pieces start to fall together. They start to come into place. And there's also this thing about Pluto that's really important because Pluto's stationing direct. So it's pulling focus in the
Starting point is 00:03:04 sky. It's like, hey, y'all, I'm really important this week. So what is Pluto in Capricorn all about? Well, Pluto entered Capricorn in 2008. 2008 was a year of massive financial upheaval the world over. The financial systems of the world kind of imploded for lack of nuance and a better description. Now, Pluto is a planet of transformation. It is also a planet that talks about wealth and money because it's the deity that is underground. And underground is where a lot of resources come from. So Pluto is all about the death and rebirth process. And when it entered Capricorn, a sign that is all about systems and material and how to utilize the material world,
Starting point is 00:04:03 all astrologers around the world in unison were like, hey, financial systems are going to go through a major overhaul. So that was 2008. Now we're at the end of Pluto's transit through Capricorn. That's how long a Pluto transit is through a sign. We also are in the midst of the United States, not the most important country in the world, world, but definitely one of the loudest, going through its own Pluto return. So a Pluto return only happens once every couple hundred years. And this is the first time that this country is going through its Pluto return because it is a baby country. It is a very new country. So there is a major
Starting point is 00:04:59 overhaul and transformation that's happening to this country. There's a major overhaul and transformation that is still ongoing to the financial systems that we live within. Side note, Uranus, another outer planet, so planet that speaks to big cultural shifts is also in an earth sign. It's in Taurus. So we know that two of these heavy hitters are in Earth signs, and that is going to amplify the need to understand the ways in which we work with the Earth's resources and how to better do so. Now, Pluto in any sign talks about transformation. With Pluto and Capricorn, the transformation, again, is about, on one hand, our economic systems. And if we think about how outdated and archaic our economic systems are, we can be like, yeah, well, obviously, this is the time and place to give this whole thing an overhaul.
Starting point is 00:06:08 And that's what we're doing, right? In a lot of ways, the old system, the old guard is in its last throes of trying to. to maintain its own power. We can see that the ways in which we operate now, corporate, extractive, capitalist systems, are killing us, literally killing the planet, killing us. The fallout, obviously, being the worst for the people who have been rendered vulnerable by this very system. So change is a must. We know this and yet it's something that takes time and it's something that also involves every single one of us. And power is a big subject when we're talking about the fact that a very minute percentage of people own and operate and make decisions for the vast majority.
Starting point is 00:07:16 of us. And yet, we each have to be centered in our own personal power always so that we can catch every single little gap, little window, little opening of the door to push our way in to make sure that our voices are heard, that our needs are being focused on, we can't relent. That's the nature of being human in at least this time frame. We have to always be fighting for our rights. We have to always be advocating for ourselves. We can never forget our agency, which is. is also what Pluto talks about.
Starting point is 00:08:11 So this week, you know, there's going to be a lot of focus being pulled on probably the economic systems and the ways in which the systems of extractive capitalism function. And it's up to each one of us to say, how can I be the solution to this problem? How can I help to rebuild the world as it needs to be, as I think it needs to be? how am I engaging with my own power in this moment and saying, I don't want to be a part of that. Instead, I'm going to build this thing, who's with me? How do we do this? Who's already building this?
Starting point is 00:08:48 How can I be involved in a solution that's already happening? Because there's so much happening underground and also above ground collectively. there is so much grassroots organizing going on. There's such extraordinary work being done on this planet right now. We cannot let this story of doom and gloom. And oh, well, I guess it's just going to be our annihilation when we still have a chance at this. We still have time. We're still alive.
Starting point is 00:09:29 My heart is still beating. my lungs are still breathing. Therefore, I got to use this day to try to do something else. No matter who makes fun of me, who ridicules me, who says it can't be done, it's my job to be like, okay, watch me. Maybe it can't. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I'm going to do all of this incorrectly. But I'm going to try and I'm going to learn while I do it. The other thing to note is that we're moving towards a full moon. There is a full moon on October 9th at 155 p.m. Pacific time for later time zones. That's going to be maybe on Monday. And this full moon is really big and it's really active. We'll go into great depth about it and its meaning in next week's podcast. But just to say this is a full moon in Ares.
Starting point is 00:10:25 So it is the equinox full moon, which means it's also about change. It is in a fire sign, so it's got a lot of activity going on. It's got a lot of energy. And there's a lot of potential for something to come about that relates to our healing. I say that not because it's in Ares, but because this full moon is going to be sitting right next to conjunct, Chiron, the minor planet that is named after the wounded healer. or the one whose wound never heals and is also a healer. Chiron was a great healer, a great teacher and a great mentor.
Starting point is 00:11:13 And this minor planet, when things happen really close to it, this little planet teaches us a lot about our healing and our own need to move into that mentorship role. So that's coming. That is happening. That is also very much in the background of this week's astrology. And this weekend is going to be very much in the foreground. For a lot of us, Saturday night, the moon will look very full. Sunday night also. So we're going to have a weekend of heightened activity and of some things that come up in our relationships. and our ways of being with each other and in our lives that are like, oh, yeah, I maybe need to heal that. Or, oh, this is actually really healing. This is helping me to gain some perspective. It's a full moon.
Starting point is 00:12:15 So it's something that's right out in front of us. It's helping me to witness myself in a new way. And that's really one of the main ingredients that we need in our healing. process. It's to be witnessed and to also witness ourselves. Thank you all so much for leaving reviews in the app store. It literally means the world to us. We read them, we share them with each other on Fridays and they really helped to lift our spirits and they also help us to know what's working. I wanted to read you one that we recently got. This one's titled, Thank You by Carrie E. This is my favorite way to end the day.
Starting point is 00:13:06 Thank you for your thoughtful meditations alongside the fabulous horoscopes. They help me connect with my body at the end of a whole day being kind of like a robot. They gave the robot emoji. I love the app so very much. Okay, y'all, that is the rundown for the week. I hope this was helpful. I hope that as we approach the weekend and the full. moon starts to bloom, that instead of being reactive, we could, you know, flex our muscles of
Starting point is 00:13:45 restraint and think, how might I want to respond to this thoughtfully and in a way that can promote not only my own healing, but maybe also a little bit of collective healing. Sending you lots of love, many blessings. Bye for now.
