Three things about this week. A of all, it's going to come in hot.
B of all, it's probably going to hurt our feelings.
And C of all, midweek, is actually a beautiful little bright gem of a spot that I want us all to work with.
Hello and welcome. This is the astrology of the week ahead podcast.
I'm your host, your Astro Bestie, Channie Nicholas.
And in this episode, we are talking about the week of October 6th.
But before we get into all of that, y'all, I'm really excited to announce that I'm starting
my own book club.
It's called The Next Chapter.
It is with a queer-owned business and book market place called All Stora.
And when you join every month, you'll get a book picked out by yours truly.
and you'll also be given access to a community space where we can all come together and talk about
how this author is handling a certain subject or how it's starting to help us to see life in a different way.
My hope is that the books we choose and read together will become a blueprint for a better world,
for another way of seeing the world and seeing ourselves as we struggle through and grapple with
and celebrate the beauty and the difficulties of life. Head to allstora.com to register. I cannot wait
to begin reading with you. So we start the week off with a full moon in Aries.
Aries is a sign that does combat. It does courage and it does directness. It is a very active sign.
it is a sign that initiates action. So this full moon is here to encourage us to be bold,
to be direct, to be courageous, and to be forthright. And those are all really good things.
And it's a full moon that might bring about a little too much heat. It's a full moon that might
aggravate anything and everything that already feels a little on the edge.
It is a full moon that is going to put gas on the fire. So we all need to help our systems and
help ourselves and maybe help each other quiet things down where and when we can.
This is not a very grounded beginning to the week because there's so much activity and there
is probably going to be a lot of very fierce and direct feelings. Now, obviously, this week contains
within it the date October 7th, which is a date that is going to evoke a tremendous amount of memory
and emotion and feelings and probably a lot of conflict. So it just so happens that we are having a
full moon in the overheated sign of Ares in a sign that is about conflict, in a sign that
is about war, in a sign that is about all the things that actually do hurt.
And it is a sign that always asks us, how do we strengthen our resolve for courage and
our connection to our agency and our ability to be self-determined?
while not or at the same time, how do we deal with conflict? How do we actually work through the things that
divide us? How do we live here together? How do we manage the energy that is very present in a lot of
our worst case scenarios. What do we do with that? And so this full moon just so happens to fall
a day before that very, very, very, very, very, very, very tender memory. And the lived reality that has
happened since October 7th of 2023 and has been an ongoing
nightmare, worse than nightmare.
These last two years have been
the most harrowing
collective experience.
Obviously, not all of us have collectively
experienced a literal genocide
of ourselves and our people, but we've all
had to watch it and watch our governments
double down on what it is and what it means
and use our money, our money,
our tax dollars, our hard-earned money, is being used to do the most horrendous things to people
against our will, mostly, mostly against all of our wills.
That is an extreme abuse of power on so many different levels.
And so the last two years have been a collectively harrowing experience that we are still actively
living in. And so how do we hold that? Can you hold something that is actively happening?
I don't think so. I think it strips us down to a place on a daily level of like, who are we?
Who am I? How do I help us get out of this? What do we do? The systems we live within are
supposed to be. They're trying to make us feel like we're powerless and render us powerless.
again, extract from us to do their evil work. So it's a, it's a moment of, of absolute confounding
moral obligation. We have a moral obligation. We have a spiritual obligation. We have an obligation
to be human, to remain human in the face of everything. And to struggle through this extreme
moment, this extreme heat on so many levels. And this full moon in Aries is happening the day before
that memory. And so we know that collectively, globally, will all be feeling that because it is
something that is impacting did and has continued to impact us globally. It is a global. It is a
global moment of reckoning of the violence of these systems that we live within, of the violence
of settler colonialism. And it is ongoing. And it is something that we have failed to stop. And the weight
of that is there's no words for it. And the fact that the place that I sit in right now,
and I'm very close to when this will air, that the fact that this is, the fact that this is, the fact that this
is this has only gotten worse in the past two years is unfathomable.
And so I know a lot of people will be very angry with me for saying all of this because
this is a quote unquote astrology podcast.
But astrology is nothing if it is not a mirror of what it is we're going through here
on Earth.
And if we are unwilling to look at what is.
happening collectively as a mirror of how we're doing personally, of how we're doing systemically,
but also if we're unwilling to have the astrology comment on things that are bigger than our
own little personal agenda, I don't understand how that's astrology.
astrology is a mirror of our collective and personal experiences.
And so to extract some of them, to cover them up, to block them out, to erase them to cut them out, to not talk about one of the biggest collective experiences that we are currently in, one of the biggest moral crises that we are in globally.
To not talk about that as it's linked to the astrology, as it's linked to my humanity as a person
making a podcast is ridiculous. I don't want to do this work unless it is that. And so if you come
here and you get angry at me for saying that, that's totally your prerogative. And you can do
that. And I bid you well, love and light, goodbye. You can go find a million other astrologers
that will do things in a way that you like.
But that's not what we do here
because we're trying to look at the actual signs in the sky
and look at the actual things that are happening here on Earth
and see how they are lining up.
And so when I talk about the full moon happening on October 6th
and the fact that it is in Ares, and that is a very heated sign,
and that we will be emotionally fraught at the beginning of the week.
That's part of it.
I'm not going to pretend that October 7th isn't on Tuesday and that that isn't already,
we don't need the astrology to tell us, but that that won't already be a reality.
Okay.
We start the week with a full moon in Ares.
We're full of feeling.
We're full of fire.
We're full of heat.
the world, I think generally will be on that edge of tension. That's what a full moon is, right? It is the
tensest point in the cycle between the sun and the moon. It is the 180 degree aspect. And so it's
fully taught. It is the peak. It is the apex of the moment. And it is the moment that is highlighting
something in the dark. So it's highlighting what we might be unconscious to. It is highlighting
what we might be wanting to keep at bay. And so when a full moon is especially in a fire sign,
a fire sign, especially Aries, then we know that there's going to be a lot of activity.
There's a lot of energy present at the very beginning of the week. And it does want to move towards
conflict or courage or taking action or taking a risk or being brave.
So one of my things with this full moon is where do you need to have more courage?
Where do you need to have a braver kind of stance?
And where do you need to take action in your life?
This full moon will teach you that.
This full moon will highlight that.
This full moon will direct you there.
Now, the thing about Tuesday is that Mercury, the planet of communication, is in Scorpio.
And on Tuesday, it makes a square to Pluto.
So this means that on Tuesday, October 7th, there will be conversations that are very challenging
to have.
Like, you don't need astrology to tell you that.
On Tuesday, October 7th, there's going to be conversations about the things that go on
underneath the surface.
On Tuesday, there's going to be conversations about what happens just underneath the guise
of everything is fine and politics as you.
usual. On Tuesday, there will be conversations that do not want to be surface level. They want to go
deep. They want to inform us. The conversations that we want to have or the things that we say
will definitely strike a chord and they will definitely be about what is true. What are the origins
of something? Where did this all come from? Where we are in this moment? Where we are in this moment,
where we are right now is not just, we didn't get here out of the blue. We got here because of
many, many, many, many, many, many, many decades. And we could say centuries of these behaviors
that are only ever going to end us up here. And so what is another way of being in the world?
What is another way of talking about the things that ALS? What is another way of being?
with our problems or what is another way that we could be with the hardest things that we're
all grappling with. And how do we alleviate the suffering that is so apparent and in so many
places on the planet, including in ourselves? Now, on Wednesday, things do lift a little bit.
On Wednesday, there's a really nice signature that we want to work with.
It's Venus sex style Jupiter.
Venus is a planet of love and connection and relationship and beauty and beauty making
and culture creation.
So when it makes a sex style with Jupiter, we want to make sure that we are uplifting
and celebrating our friendships and our love and each other.
We want to make sure that we're working in a way that is celebratory.
Venus is in Virgo right now. She is a crafter of beauty. And Jupiter is in cancer right now,
which is a wellspring of care. And so Wednesday does really signal a moment where we can be
very specific about how we connect to one another and very specific about the ways in which we
demonstrate care with one another. Wednesday is a gorgeous day for you and I to use
to engender anything and everything good.
Wednesday is a gorgeous day for us to do a little bit of manifesting with.
Wednesday is a day that we want to work with to engender and to create relationships.
Wednesday is the day.
You want to reach out to your besties.
You want to reach out to people that you want to have a connection with.
You want to reach out to folks and be like, hey, I love that thing.
That was so cute what you did.
When you do this, it's so lovely.
And you know what I remember about the thing that you said last time we talked?
And, oh, didn't you used to da-da-da-da-da-da, make people feel important?
Wednesday is the day where you want to show up as the world's bestie.
Wednesday is a day that is imbued with gorgeous astrology.
So you want to use it and work with it.
And you can do anything or anything that you do is going to be imbued with this signature of friendship
and sweetness and abundance and beauty and care.
So go forth and do the things that you want to do because it's going to be imbued with
that energy.
Go forth and make new friends and celebrate and do things that are going to remind other
people that they are connected to something really good, which is community.
This is about reminding each other that we care for each other,
that we are each other's bounty and abundance and strength.
and beauty. And then as the week progresses, Saturday brings us a moment of refinement. Venus goes from
this glorious sex style to Jupiter where there's a lot of friendship and there's a lot of fun and there's a lot of
good feeling and there's a lot of reasons to be fortified by each other and by our connection to one
another. And then by Saturday we're like, I don't want to go to the party, actually. I thought I did.
On Wednesday, I said yes. And by the time I get to Saturday, I don't want to go. I don't want to go.
I don't want to do it. I need some time on my own. I want to actually clean my cupboards and do my laundry.
And I want to take care of business. Saturday is a day where we actually want to be working on the things that will help
us to feel like we have streamlined and clarified and cleaned out and organized and figured out
what it is we need to do so that we are like, oof, I feel good. I feel good. I feel like I did the
things I needed to do and like I am set up. So Saturday might not be the day where you party.
Friday might though. Wednesday might. Thursday might. But by the time we get to the weekend,
And we want some clarity or we want to be very specific about the things that we engage with.
It's also going to be a weekend for some of us that's going to be very much about boundary
setting in our relationships.
It's going to be one of those days where we're like, oh, God.
Yes.
Why did I say yes to the invite?
I'm actually, I'm going to back out.
I'm going to say no.
I think I'm just going to stay home.
There's that piece of it.
But then there's also the piece of like this keeps coming up in this relationship.
I need to put down a boundary. I need to be clear. I'm not being clear enough. Obviously,
I'm not saying the thing I need to say. I'm not taking care of myself in the way I need to.
Whatever your boundary things are in relationship, they will show up on Saturday. So it's a good time to do
some cleaning up. Saturday is the cleanup day of the week. Okay, this week's question is a good one.
it's a little bit in the nitty gritty details of things. It is how do I interpret something if I have
two planets that are conjunct. So there are two planets that are close together, but they're in
different signs. So this is my rule of thumb, very different than a lot of modern astrologers,
but I consider aspects. So I consider relationships between two planets that are out of sign-based
relationships with each other if they're within a three degree orb. So it's a pretty tight orb.
A lot of modern astrologers, I think, use like a 10 degree orb or even wider depending on the
planets. So this is what I mean by it. If you have Mercury in Libra at like zero degrees of Libra,
but you have Mars at 28 degrees of Virgo, I would see those two planets as working
together. Depending on the speed of them, because planets go at different speeds all the time,
depending on the phase of their cycle, like whatever cycle they're in. Like you and I, like I go
really fast some days and some days I go really slow. Planets are the same. Some days they go really
fast and some days, weeks, time periods, they go slow and fast. So that's a little in the weeds,
but if you know that, I can help. Like if Venus is stationing retrograde and it's going to back into Mars,
and it's even a more powerful conjunction.
But if two planets are in different signs,
but they're still conjunct, I would say, within three degrees,
then the conjunction works a little differently
than it would if the planets were in the same signs.
Because if the planets are in the same signs
and they both have the same ruler,
and they're both working in the same style.
But when they're in an out-of-sign conjunction
or an out-of-sign aspect with one another,
it's still potent and you look at, of course, the significance of the planets involved.
So what does it mean to have Mars and, did I say Mercury or Venus, whatever the combination is?
What does it mean to have that planet with that planet?
And they have to, if they're sitting close to each other, especially within three degrees, if they're out of sign,
if they're sitting close to each other, then they've got to function together.
One informs the other.
So if any planet is in connection with Mercury, Mercury is going to act more like that planet.
Or we could say Mercury is going to translate with that planet in mind because Mercury is a planet
that can go a lot of different ways. Mercury is a planet that is communicating. It's like a microphone.
It's picking up whatever is hanging around. So if it's hanging around with Mars, it's going to speak
really intensely. If it's hanging around with Venus, it's going to speak in a way that's much more
flowery and people are going to be like, oh, my God, I love your voice. If it's hanging around with the
moon, it's probably going to be a little moody. But it's also going to be very reflective and very
nurturing and very able to connect with other people, all depending on the sign. So if say of Mercury
is in, what did I say? If Mercury is in Virgo, I don't think I said that, but say Mercury is in Virgo,
It's going to be very critically minded and a really excellent economical speaker or writer or deliverer of info.
And then say Mars is in Libra.
It's a tough combination because Mars has a hard time in Libra.
But if Mars is in Libra, then Mercury is going to have to also translate something about Mars.
So something about conflict or something about activism or something about teaking initiation or something about courage.
but in a Libran kind of style. So it's still going to want to be nice. So it might be a little
even harder to read. It's like we're going to want to be edgy, but we're also going to
want to hedge some of our bets and be balanced about what it is we're talking about. So again,
you're looking at the planet and how the planet functions. And then you're looking at the
other planet and how that planet functions. And you're trying to merge it all together. So you're
merging the qualities of the two planets and their jobs. And then you're also trying to merge the
way they do their jobs in their signs. So it's more work because you have to parse out more
details. Let me know if that makes sense. And if it doesn't, I'll try to redo my answer or
elaborate a little bit more. All right, y'all, that is our episode. Come back next week. We actually
have a Mercury Mars conjunction that's happening next Sunday, which will be spicy. It'll also
give us some very deep, secretive information. I think it's going to be good again for strategy,
but it might make some conversations a little charged. But then Venus is also moving into Libra,
which is going to want to help us to engender more relationships and create more space for balance
and hey, what do you think?
This is what I think.
Oh, that looks beautiful on you.
It's going to help us to flirt.
It's going to help us to look cute.
It's going to help us to color coordinate or be discordant in just the right kind of way.
It's going to be cute.
So it's a mixed bag next week.
Come back.
We'll talk about that.
Then until then, I love you.
Sending you so much love, so much strength.
Listen, we got to be courageous.
We have to be bold.
We have to remember our humanity and do what we feel like.
we need to do in this moment, may we all keep our moral integrity intact and lead from that place.
Bye for now.
