Astrology of the Week Ahead with Chani Nicholas - The Week of September 12th, 2022: The Sun opposes Neptune, then Venus makes a square to Mars
Episode Date: September 12, 2022In this podcast, New York Times bestselling author and astrologer Chani Nicholas discusses the astrology of the week and what it might mean for us all. The astrology of the week of September 12th, 202...2, is relatively simple but sloshy. The week begins as the Sun in Virgo leaves a trine with Uranus, prompting us to roll up our sleeves and discover new ways to work with what we’ve got. Then on Friday, the Sun forms an opposition to Neptune, which delivers a conflicting message — that sometimes things don’t work and we have to let them go. Later that day, Venus in Virgo makes a square to Mars, adding a critical edge and an influx of emotion to our interactions. Because this is all happening in a Mercury-ruled sign during Mercury retrograde, things feel a little messy. The solution? Don’t be reactive. Refuse to take anything personally. Prepare for details to get lost and translations to be thrown out the window. all of the major astrological goings on. And there's not a ton going on this week. Mercury is
still very much retrograde, and we are still in Virgo season. And that's where the
astrology really takes place. We're talking about the planet.
that are in Virgo this week.
And we're also going to note what's going on with Mercury's retrograde because it's really
interesting.
And I also think it's exceptionally positive for Mercury retrograde.
So we start the week as the sun is just leaving a trine from Uranus.
And this is really innovative astrology.
The sun is in Virgo and Uranus is in Taurus, both earth signs.
and both of these signs like to work.
And I don't mean that it's all about productivity.
What I mean is that these signs like to be in the stuff of the day.
They like to get things done.
They like to get their hands in the dirt and be in relationship with the material world.
It doesn't have to have anything to do with money,
although that's what all the memes are always about when it's.
comes to earth science. But we know that Virgo loves to be in the details of things. It loves to know
how something works, how all the different parts and components go together, how something is
systematized, or how the system of something is or is not efficient. And when Virgo knows that,
it is able to hone in on the things that do and don't work. It's really good at
critiquing something, as we all know. So this is the sign that the sun is in right now,
and this is what the sun is illuminating, all the ways in which things go together, don't go
together. And as a mutable sign, Virgo teaches us how to adjust. It doesn't get stuck in one way
of doing something. It is able to understand what is ending and what is about to begin,
but it's very much in the liminal space of the in-between those two things. And it is able to understand. And
things. Something is gone. Something is about to begin. And Virgo is comfortable in this place of
something coalescing, something dispersing, the letting go and the getting ready to. It's the both
and. This is a double-bodied sign. And so when the sun is here, it illuminates that way of being.
And as the sun trines Uranus, we are asked to do some kind of update.
Or we could say that the trine creates a really easeful relationship with innovation,
with experimentation, and with trying something new, thinking outside the box.
So Virgo teaches us how to work with what we've got.
Then the sun in Virgo, trine Uranus and Taurus, is teaching us.
us about new ways of being with the material world, new ways of working with the things that we
have. So this is the tone that the week starts out on. Technically, that happens on Sunday,
September 11th. But because there's nothing happening really until Friday, that tone is the
only thing that kind of reverberates through the week. And we quickly go from innovative approaches to
systems and to understanding things in a new light in a new way and rethinking things and
finding ways to be experimental right into the sun's opposition to Neptune. That happens on
Friday and that is messy. It is not at all exacting. It is the antithesis of clean, concise,
constructive precision. It is about letting go. It is about surrender. It is about throwing up our hands and
saying, oh, well, I guess it didn't work out. And so we go from something that works really well
to something that is a little bit more of a tidal wave in terms of our ability to impact it.
like we are unable to push our agenda in this astrology.
So we'll probably start feeling that late Wednesday, Thursday, really,
and into Friday and maybe even into Saturday.
Think of it as a bit of a wave coming up and like crashing on the shore,
crashing over us on Friday.
But that the buildup to it will start to feel things are a little bit wobbly and mushy
and strange.
And then we'll feel the outcome.
of it. Now listen, this is happening at the end of the week and a lot of us work Monday to Friday. And so
Friday is a really good day to be like, oh well, I'm not going to keep trying to work something that
doesn't want to work. I'm going to let it go. I'm going to give myself space and time to breathe and dream
and imagine and stare at the wall or stare at the clouds or go to the ocean or do something that
feels like I'm taking off my rules and also taking off the constraints of having to get it right.
This is about practicing not getting it done, not getting it right, not being thorough.
So if you have something you have to be really thorough about on Friday,
try to get it done a little earlier in the week, if possible, or get people to like double,
triple check in your work. It might feel a little bit like a Mercury retrograde because the
is in a Mercury ruled sign, and Mercury is retrograde. So it might feel a little sloshy. Now,
I don't hate this because a deep wisdom that we often overlook is found in those types of states
of being. So in and of itself, I've got no problem with it. The situation on Friday,
however, is a little bit more complicated than that. So there's something that might be a little
confusing, a little derailing, a little sloshy, sloppy, messy. Okay, cute, fine, whatever.
But then on the same day, Venus makes a square to Mars.
And these two things happen within a couple hours of each other.
And the sun and Venus are in the same sign.
So it's all happening in Virgo.
And, you know, Virgo likes to be specific and it likes to be detail-oriented.
And it likes to systematize and categorize and clean things up and clear things
so that the channels are open and everything can be efficient.
So great. But the sun's in a messy moment. And then Venus squares Mars. And Mars and Venus together in a square can feel like a little bit of a don't harsh me, dude. Like it's a little bit of an edge to something that might already be tending towards criticality. Because
Venus is in Virgo and it can tend towards that side of things when it feels unloved or insecure
or unsure of itself. So when these two come together in a moment of Sun Neptune confusion or
derailment or sloshiness or messiness, it can feel like, huh, my feelings are hurt and I don't
quite know why. And that might be one of the tones that ricochet through the end of the week.
And you might not feel this. It might not land for you personally at all. But this is the symbolism, as I can see it from my point of view, that kind of coalesces. So taking note that other people might receive criticism or, you know, what you intend to be feedback, a little bit harsher than you mean it. So you can buffer things somewhat. And also, details might get lost. Translations might get,
get thrown at the window, like our papers get soggy under a sun, Neptune opposition,
especially in Virgo.
So we know that there's a lot of confusion in the air.
And there might be a greater tendency to kind of put our finger in it, put salt on the
wound when we don't mean to or other people might do that and we feel it.
And so we can just kind of like, you know, all out of office a little early on Friday and
refuse to take anything personally and give yourself time. Don't let yourself just be reactive.
Take time to see what your actual response wants to be if this astrology rolls out like that for you.
And the confusion might be all the more so because the planets that are going through this bumpy moment are
ruled by Mercury and Mercury is retrograde right now. So we're bound to find ourselves in a very
momentary kind of whirlpool. However, Mercury is making it second of third.
three oppositions to Jupiter on Sunday and the sun moves into a trine with Pluto. So the sun will
come out tomorrow. Situations clear up. We are not in this complicated moment for very long at all.
One of the things I want you to take note of and we talked about where this is happening in your chart
in the weekly readings. If you go to the weekly tab in the app and look at the readings and listen to
yours, you'll come to know what area of your life this is impacting both all this stuff happening
in Virgo and what's going on with Mercury retrograde this week because it's really interesting.
Mercury made its first opposition to Jupiter on September 2nd. Mercury makes its second opposition
to Jupiter September 18th and its third opposition to Jupiter on October 12th. That means
that whatever's happening, September 2nd, September 18th and October 12th, TBD, but,
if we start to like track these things now, it can be really interesting.
All those three dates are connected by this astrology.
And again, it's really good to know where this is happening in your chart.
And we cover that in the weekly readings.
But these three moments are all part of a story.
It's like three chapters in one book.
September 2nd, it was before Mercury stationed retrograde.
September 18th, obviously this week is when Mercury is still retrograde.
And October 12th is after Mercury.
is direct. And so the resolve of everything will happen on October 12th, but something that happened
around September 2nd, and that's got its second chapter, its next iteration of unfolding September
18th, this Sunday, will reveal itself on October 12th. And the thing about this is it's good news.
It's something that feels positive. It's something that feels like an opportunity. And so you might notice
that you've been having a specific conversation beginning and mid-September,
and then something comes around for resolution mid-October.
And this is like a cool game you can play with this Mercury Retrograde,
because Mercury Retrogrades always get us to go back and find something.
Like, hey, you didn't see that this thing wasn't working,
but now I'm going to make you go back there and take note of the fact that the switch
isn't on or the thing is off the rails or these.
two pieces aren't connected and you're going to go back and discover, oh, I need to connect those
two things and then everything works better. And again, this is a positive finding. So go back
into your calendars on September 2nd, into your emails, your drafts, whatever, and see what you
were talking about then and take note if the conversations come up again this week. And then make a
note for that week of October 12th to see if something finalizes or comes.
comes back around at that point in time, again, that feels somewhat positive in nature or growth
enhancing or has something to do with abundance in some way, shape, or form. It's our little
mercury retrograde treasure hunt. We don't always get a treasure hunt with mercury retrograde.
Sometimes the aspects are really, like, gnarly. This one's actually quite positive,
at least this part of the mercury retrograde.
All right, y'all.
That is the reading for the week.
Next week we have the Equinox.
So there is a change of season.
There's a change in the air brewing.
And we also have a new moon.
I'm actually really excited about the Equinox and the New Moon because they both have really interesting set up.
So we'll talk about that more next week.
The Equinox is on September 22nd.
And the new moon is on the 24th.
5th of September. Thank you all so much for leaving a review in the app store. We are truly
bolstered and buoyed by them. We send them around at the end of each week and they're such a joy
to receive. I wanted to share one with you by sparkling Laura. This woman on her team know my life.
I have subscribed to this app for about a year and a half now. And week after week, I find myself in shock
because the readings are so incredibly literal.
I also love how Chani talks about astrology
and the language used throughout the app
because it has helped me learn so much about how it works.
The chart tool is 10 out of 10.
The transit section is truly actually personalized astrology.
The home section is wonderful, easy, and beautiful, and fun to use.
XOXO, never change.
P.S. I would 100% buy a.
tarot deck with the cards designed for each week. Well, we'll try to make those dreams come true.
I'll see you all back here next week. In the meantime, sending you lots of love. Stay cool,
stay calm, surf, ride the waves, do your thing, try not to take it personally and wishing you
lots of luck in your Mercury retrograde treasure hunt. Bye for now.
