Episode 248In this podcast, New York Times best-selling author and astrologer Chani Nicholas discusses the astrology of the week and what it might mean for us all.The astrology of the week of Septembe...r 15th, 2025, wants us to get organized. Mercury (the planet of communication) moves into Libra (the sign of justice) and brings a flurry of information with it, thanks to the influence of three other planets. But the solar eclipse in Virgo asks us to figure out what we can clarify or cut out of our lives. Because the eclipse opposes Saturn (the planet of structure), we’re also called to sharpen our focus and get choosy about where we spend our energy. Let’s sort this sh*t out. This episode covers:Venus’ sextile with Mars on Monday, September 15thMercury’s opposition with Saturn on Wednesday, September 17thMercury’s entrance into Libra on Thursday, September 18thMercury’s opposition with Neptune on Thursday, September 18thMercury’s trine with Uranus on Thursday, September 18thMercury’s trine with Pluto on Thursday, September 18thVenus’ entrance into Virgo on Friday, September 19thVenus’ square with Uranus on Saturday, September 20thThe Sun’s opposition with Saturn on Saturday, September 20thThe solar eclipse in Virgo on Sunday, September 21stThis episode was recorded on 7/17/2025.For more, check out your free daily horoscope on the homepage of the CHANI app — now on iOS and Android. The music featured in the podcast was created by Latashá.P.S. Starting point is 00:00:00 Three things about this week. Number one, we are going to remember that perfection is not the goal. Number two, we're going to remember to listen to our gut, our gut instinct, our gut knowing, and what our tum-tums need. Number three, we are going to get schooled on something that we forgot about, that we missed, that we didn't tend to, and we're going to be. reminded of how important it is to tend to our responsibilities and that only through doing so do we get a true sense of freedom. Hello and welcome. This is the astrology of the week
Starting point is 00:00:44 ahead podcast. I'm your host, your Astro Bestie, Channy Nicholas. In this episode, we are looking at the week of September 15th and the astrology there within. All right, y'all. we are in eclipse season. This is the week that brings us the second of two eclipses in this season, meaning by the end of this week, we will have gotten to the end of it in a lot of ways. And eclipses reverberate for a while. So we're not going to look for all the evidence of the eclipse and this eclipse season this week, but we are definitely, definitely going to get the part two. of the situation. One of the things I want you to look back at and remember, I want you to think about March of 2025, that month, just think of the whole month of March of 2025 this year. What were the
Starting point is 00:01:46 most significant things that you let go of? What did you press restart on? What things happened in March of 2025 that changed the game for you, that cleaned the slate, that brought you back to the beginning of something. What did you begin? What did you end? What did you learn? What was exceptionally chaotic in March of 2025? What was a bit of a roller coaster? What did you learn from March of 2025 that you will not repeat again in September of 2025? And what do you notice is coming back around for a part two. There is a reoccurring theme that is tied to March that is happening now. Because in March of 2025, we had the first eclipse in Virgo in a series of eclipses in Virgo that we will have over the course of two years. This, my friend, September 21st,
Starting point is 00:02:47 is the second eclipse in Virgo that we will have in a series of four. So it's far from over. it's actually right in the middle. We are in the middle of a series of eclipses that happen here about every six months. So if we look back six months ago, what was the kind of like, whoa, maybe brand new thing or maybe like realization or maybe major switch. Eclipses are turning off of the light and a turning on of the light. And that can be what it appears like in our life. Like, all the power goes out, where are we? What's going on? Power comes back on and things have been rearranged. We are now in a different kind of setup. Was March dramatic like that for you? If so, it doesn't mean that this September will be as dramatic as last March, but it does mean that
Starting point is 00:03:44 this September will be commenting on the stuff that happened in March. It will be echoing it. It will be rhyming with it. It will be the reverb of what happened in March. And if you really did your work and learned your lesson and we're like, okay, I got it. This is, I'm not going to replay this. Then you'll see the good results now from the work you did in March. If things didn't really land, if it was hard to make the changes that you needed to, now you'll get the opportunity to make those changes because we're back in a similar situation. That was a lunar eclipse, so things can be way more obvious. This is a solar eclipse. So it's a new moon. The sun and the moon are coming together. And the light of the sun will be partially blotted out. This is a partial solar eclipse.
Starting point is 00:04:29 So it's not super dramatic, but it's still very important. So this is a moment to really, again, tune into your gut knowing. Vergo rules the digestive system. Our gut is our second brain. our gut literally knows what's up tells us things. Vergo is like, look, if you can't digest this, you're never going to incorporate it and then you're never going to benefit from it. What is the process that we need? How do we categorize things? How do we break them up? How do we organize them into piles of waste, into piles of compost, into piles of absorb this? This is really good for you. All that happens in the gut. So I want you to kind of think of that infrastructure in terms of your psychology, in terms of your
Starting point is 00:05:24 spirituality, in terms of your physiology, in terms of the systems in your life. Are they set up so that you can know what to eliminate, what to compost, what to repurpose, what to use, where to put it when it's good to use. Maybe you don't want to use it right now. Maybe you need to store it somewhere. Maybe you do need to use it for rapid energy right now. Maybe this needs to be eliminated Pronto. Maybe this can be like, huh, let me think about this. The organization that Virgo helps us do creates pathways. It creates clarity. It creates a situation where the energy can move.
Starting point is 00:06:03 And we want the energy to move all the time. But we especially don't want to be cluttered up and clogged up with unnecessary gunk during eclipse season, especially not during a south node eclipse. Why? Because the south node is the emptying out point. We want to go into this eclipse being less loaded up up with toxins. You know what I'm saying? We want to be more hydrated. We want to be better slept. We want to be nourished so that we're not coming with a. ton of debris emotionally, mentally, spiritually, psychically, whatever. We want to be moving into this week thinking, what can I clarify, what can I cut out, what can I minimize, how can I de-escalate everything in my system, how can I anti-inflame, how can I do harm reduction in every way, shape,
Starting point is 00:07:01 and form in my life, in my body, in my relationships, in my work life, in my everything, in my activism, all of it. How do I bring it all down so that I can just like organize, I can digest, I can work with what is present. I'm not trying to overload, throw a whole bunch of stuff back on. I don't need the chaos. Eclipse season brings enough energy jolts. I don't need more. I need time to organize so that I can digest so that I can utilize. so that I can nourish, so that I can support myself in the easiest way possible. That is one of the main functions of this eclipse. Get rid of the stuff that's just clogging the system.
Starting point is 00:07:55 Don't worry about it. If it's not yours to worry about, just don't even pick it up. If it's not your trash, it's not yours to worry about. I don't want you carrying everything around this week. I don't want you to do that anyways. But this week is your invitation to practice carrying your own baggage and then being like, do I actually need you to carry this? Wait, this isn't my baggage. This is the baggage from my mom. I'm going to leave. This is my sisters. This is my friends. This is my exes. This is my. This isn't mine. I can, I can set it down. If I feel like I need to pick it up later, I don't know why I would, but if I feel like I can pick it up,
Starting point is 00:08:35 again. I'm going to set it down for a minute and see what I can focus on. We need energy for our focus. We need to focus our energy. Okay, let's get into the nitty-gritty little astrological pieces of the week. On Monday, Venus makes a cute little sex style to Mars. It's very energizing. It's very fratious. It's very harmonious. It's a little invitation to get up and go and try to something that is pleasurable or to take action towards a relationship or towards going out on a date, friend date, romantic date, doesn't matter. But ask somebody out, go do something that you feel like, oh, I'm so glad I did that. On Wednesday, there's a major reality check. And again, I want us to use this in a way that's like, oh, that was a really good course correction.
Starting point is 00:09:30 I'm not focused in the way that I need to be. Let me refocus. And that's what we want to do. all week, just refocus. What is my business? What is my responsibility to pay attention to you? How can I pay attention to it? Let me focus, focus, focus, focus. If something in life comes along is like, that's not yours, you know, if I feel like I'm getting a little bit of a repercussion, because it's Mercury opposing Saturn, which can feel a little strict, I'm not going to take offense to it. I'm just going to refocus myself. I'm just going to stay on target. and on point. I'm going to stay with the facts, the data, and I'm going to stay on mission. On Thursday, Mercury, the ruler of this next eclipse, moves into Libra. And there it does a whole
Starting point is 00:10:17 series of things. It's kind of wild. It makes an opposition to Neptune. It makes a trine to Uranus and a trying to Pluto, aka there's a flurry of information. Some of it's confusing. Some of it's exhilarating. Some of it's really deep and cathartic. It's all helpful. And there's like a shift in the conversation. All of a sudden, we're talking about what is just, what is fair, we're really concerned about it. We want to think about it in new and different ways. We want to make sure that we are having conversations that are productive and that are going to help us to illuminate a new way of doing something, a new way of thinking about something. On Friday, Venus also changes signs and Venus moves into Virgo where this eclipse is happening. So it is an extra
Starting point is 00:11:04 focus being pulled on Virgo and all things associated with Virgo. Venus and Virgo doesn't do so well. It makes us struggle a little bit more to find pleasure. We'd rather work. Venus and Virgo would rather work than have a good time, we could say. And so there is an emphasis again on organizing and taking some joy in making sure things are done correctly and in order. On Saturday, Venus then makes a square to Uranus. And so it's asking us to think about how we do pleasure in a new way. It's asking us to go outside of the box in order to connect with other people. But it's also like, okay, what's your craft? What's your skill? What's a new way to innovate that? Venus and Virgo loves to be crafty, loves to understand how to do the most precise, the most detailed kind of work that is beautiful.
Starting point is 00:12:00 And so Uranus in a square to Venus in Virgo is very much like, oh, there's this new technology that you could use to do that thing that could help you make this really wonderful or this is a new skill that we could develop. On the same day, on Saturday, the sun also opposes Saturn, which is the main aspect of this eclipse because the eclipse happens the next day. The eclipse is in basically an exact opposition to Saturn. What does that mean? There is a need for focus.
Starting point is 00:12:33 We are being asked to be disciplined. We need to be aware of what is our responsibility, what is our work, what is a way to think about this whole setup that is going to be helpful. We need to be critically minded. We need to be not overly critical, but just critical enough so that we can be discerning. If you had one word to take into this week, it would be discernment. Be discerning in terms of what you eat, how you do your sleep routines, who you hang out with, what you say, what you write, what you put out into the world. Do not be paranoid, but do be discerning. Not everything needs to be said right now. Not everything needs to be performed right now.
Starting point is 00:13:22 Not everything needs to be overt right now. During eclipse season, it's very important to remember that what happens in the dark, what happens behind the scenes, what happens on an internal level, especially a solar eclipse in Virgo, what happens on a digestion level, is so important for the longevity of something. Because Saturn is in opposition to this eclipse, we want to be concerned with longevity. We want to be concerned with what will appease me, what will satiate me, what will satisfy me long term. Does this thing have legs? Can this last for a long time? Or is this a quick fix? Is it a good idea to do a quick fix right now? Is it something that I can shift quickly? like, okay, quick fix now, but then I will immediately start to work on a long-term solution.
Starting point is 00:14:22 A eclipse in Virgo is so specific. And sitting in opposition to Saturn, it can feel really harsh and again, very critical of us. But the job is to be very discerning, very specific, and very focused in terms of where we're putting our energy, the work that we are doing, knowing that we've got to get this kind of thing done or that we need to prioritize this. We need to prioritize our health always. A solar eclipse in Virgo is like prioritize your health. Opposing Saturn, it's like prioritize your health or there's consequences that won't feel very good. We need to sleep really well. We need to eat foods that we can digest really easily. Whatever that means for you.
Starting point is 00:15:14 I cannot prescribe you a diet. I would not ever want to. I am not. I don't have those credentials. Above my pre-grade, can't do it. Don't want to do it. I'm not suggesting that I can do it. But I am suggesting that you do it for yourself. You go to the healers, the doctors, the people that are experts, certified experts in their craft, in their medicine. This is such a good time to go to the elders in our life, the mentors in our life, to the people that are deeply disciplined in their study of how to treat the body, of how to treat the whole self, how to treat the entire being. This is such a good eclipse for us to tend to all those little details that impact us physically, that therefore impact us in every other way. It matters what's on the ingredient list. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:16:13 metaphorically, literally, it matters. Science matters, data matters. We need information. We need to make sure that we are not losing the things that we need to be very specific and exact about because this is a Southland Eclipse. We're living in a world where a lot of powers that be are trying to wipe the data and the facts and the science from the records. They're trying to get rid of whole entire words and books and schools and radio stations and public broadcasting and all kinds of things that get information out into the public. So this is an eclipse that's also going to be very ripe with those themes. What are we losing on a level of information?
Starting point is 00:17:01 How does that impact our health, our wellness, and our ability to tend to the moment? This eclipse is ruled by Mercury. Mercury is not retrograde, so that's good. Mercury is moving towards a square to Jupiter, so that's helpful. And Mercury is not able to see this eclipse. Mercury is in Libra. So that's a kind of feeling of like, it doesn't all go together. There could be stuff lost or could be stuff that we don't quite understand and we don't have access to. And so we have to work at holding on to what we need to hold on to in terms of information and data and science and facts and taking care of the things we need to take care of. And then we also at the same time want to move with the South Node and say, I don't need all this other stuff, though. This clutters my system. This clogs the pores. This
Starting point is 00:17:54 gets in the way of the artery, you know, the blood flowing through the artery and the system humming along and doing its thing. Metaphorically, maybe literally, you be the judge. But this is an eclipse for us to be very cognizant of what works and what doesn't. Of the data we absolutely need and what is just not our business. Not everything is my business. But I need to know the facts. I need to know the research. I need to have the papers.
Starting point is 00:18:23 I need to have the sources cited in all ways, shapes, and forms. Okay, so for this week's question, a lot of people want to know what it means to have a stelium, a k.a. a grouping of planets in the same sign as each other. So different astrologers consider stalliums to be different things. I don't really think about steliums as a thing. I obviously notice when there's a grouping of planets in a sign. And this is my main point of focus. So there are some age groups that will have, like say, for me, Gen X is going to have Pluto and Uranus in Libra, most likely. A little bit before me, people would have Pluto and Uranus in Virgo. There's a group of boomers that have Neptune and Saturn.
Starting point is 00:19:27 there it's a shorter time frame but there's different groups of people like there's groups of millennials that have uranus and Saturn and Saj and there's another group of millennials that have like Neptune Uranus, Saturn and Capricorn and so there's a lot of millennial Capricorns that in some people's estimation already have a stellium in Capricorn and I want us to think about the fact that those planets are slow moving so when they all cluster together, like that whole generation is going to have that signature. And then if you're also a Capricorn on top of it, if you're a Capricorn sun, then it's more than likely that Mercury is also going to be in that sign. Doesn't have to be, but Mercury can only travel like on one sign on
Starting point is 00:20:15 either side of the sun. And Venus only has a little bit more leeway. So oftentimes Venus and Mercury can be in the same sign as the sun. At least one of them will be usually in the same sign as the sun or often, not even usually, but it's often that they are. So there's that piece of it too. It's like, well, if you have the sun, Mercury and Venus all in the same sign, like, yeah, that's significant, really significant, actually. And it's not so exceptional or rare because they travel together. And then if you're in part of these like generational clusters of slower moving planets, That's also not rare. I mean, it's rare in terms of like a hundred year span of time, but it's not rare for your little pocket of people because you all have that signature.
Starting point is 00:21:01 So there's those two ways of looking at it. And then Mars is kind of rogue because it has like a different cycle than everybody else, but it's a faster moving planet than say like Jupiter and Saturn and especially the outer planets. So if you have a group of planets in a sign, it puts both an emphasis on that sign, its characteristics, and on the house that that sign occupies, aka the topic of life that it occupies. And then I want to say that if it's the sun, moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, or Saturn, to me, those are also planets that rule other houses in your chart. And so what it does, and this is the thing that I, I'm most curious about. Because every planet rules two other signs and the luminaries rule
Starting point is 00:21:55 one sign each. And so if you have like sun, Mercury, Mars, Venus, say, all in Scorpio in the 11th house. And so you also have Saturn there. Well, that's going to pull in like two, four, six, eight, nine house topics into that part of your chart. Meaning, yes, it's important that there's a group of planets in a certain house, in a certain sign in your chart, and that house topic is going to be really important because it's very busy because it's got all those planets there. And yes, that sign and all of its indications are really important because there's an emphasis on that sign, its modality, its element, what it does, its function, its persona, whatever. But also, all those planets are in charge of other houses in your chart. They're in charge of other areas of your life.
Starting point is 00:22:50 So if everything or if a bunch of planets are in the 11th house, then to me that means that everything goes back to your friends. Everything goes back to the group of people that you surround yourself with. Everything goes back to your activism. Everything goes back to the group. Everything goes back to the people you hang out with. Everything goes back to the PTA meeting. Everything goes back to who you are in the group of friends. Everything goes back to the audience of people that you surround yourself with. Like, everything goes back to that house topic because all those planets rule or are in charge of other areas of your life, other signs, other house topics in your life. And all of those topics of your life get pulled into that one focus. So say if you have a stelium, a group of planets in
Starting point is 00:23:37 your first house, yes, that sign is important, but it also means like you become the vehicle for so much of your life because the first house itself. If you have a stelium in your second house, it means that what you do for a living becomes really important, not just because money, you know, is something we need to function. And I don't know if money is important to you or not if you have a stelium in your second house, but I do know that like what you do with your resources is really imperative. If you have everything in the third house, or Estellium in the third house, writing, communications, your daily life, your neighborhoods, your besties, your siblings, really important. Fourth house, home, family foundation.
Starting point is 00:24:16 Fifth House, children, or art, or both, or young people, or pleasurable pursuits or pastime, six house, work, health issues, seventh house, relationships, relationships, relationships of all kinds. Eighth House, other people's resources. You're probably a really good manager of other people. You might even be like a really good, you know, someone who facilitates trauma-informed practices. Ninth House, teaching, facilitating knowledge of some kind, astrology, academia, law, professorship, travel, travel, travel, 10th House, out in the world, big spotlight, being a public figure, career if you want one, vocation if you have one, 11th House, friends and groups, 12th house delium, you very private person, need a lot of alone time. Also, you might work within
Starting point is 00:25:09 systems of incarcerations and how to get people free of those systems and or you might be an exceptional healer, understander of things that hurt all of us and create a lot of wounds in society. 12th us is where we suffer, how we suffer, but also how we get free of that suffering or what liberation might look like on a really deep level. So you see, it's like, yes, it's the planets. Yes, it's the sign. but it also, if you have a group of planets in a certain house, it means that so much of your life focus goes back to that topic and to that area of your life. Let me know if that helps, if that solves a problem, what is your stallium, where is it, what planets are involved, and what sign are the end? All right, y'all, come back next week. We'll be out of eclipse season,
Starting point is 00:25:56 but we will have Mars entering Scorpio. It's going to be deep. and strategic and mysterious. And there's a lot we can do with that energy. So we'll talk about it more then. All right. Thank you so much for joining. If you got something useful from this episode, please pass it along to a friend.
Starting point is 00:26:16 Tell somebody about it. We love to spread the word about astrology and how it can help us. Make sense of this world, this week, this life, our charts, all of it, each other. Sending you so much love. Bye for now.
