Astrology of the Week Ahead with Chani Nicholas - The Week of September 2nd, 2024: Growth under constraints, courtesy of the New Moon in Virgo
Episode Date: September 2, 2024Episode 194 In this podcast, New York Times best-selling author and astrologer Chani Nicholas discusses the astrology of the week and what it might mean for us all. The astrology of the week of Septem...ber 2nd, 2024, bumps up against our growth edges. On Monday, the New Moon in Virgo opposes Saturn (the planet of limits), fortifying our boundaries and clarifying our priorities. Then, Mars (the warrior planet) squares Neptune (the planet of illusion), requiring us to move slowly until the fog of confusion dissipates. On Tuesday, Venus (the planet of pleasure) makes a conjunction to the South Node (a point of release), raising questions of how we can achieve justice and equality in our relationships. On Wednesday, Mars enters Cancer, where it tasks us with balancing decisive action with sensitivity. On Friday, Mercury (the messenger planet) squares Uranus (the planet of upheaval), disrupting our communications with a loud and unexpected message. Finally, on Saturday, the Sun opposes Saturn and draws our attention to rules, consequences, and reality checks. All in all, this week marks a new chapter in our relationship with constriction. I'm your Astro Bestie Channy, Nicholas.

And this week starts out on Monday
with a new moon in Virgo.
And I love a new moon in Virgo.
It's a new moon in Beyonce.
It's a new moon and let's get this house together.
It's a new moon and this is your moment to clean up your act.
It's a new moon and no incorrect, try again, which is always going to be an enjoyable thing.
Maybe not to experience, but definitely to watch.
Anyways, this new moon is particularly slippery.
and a little challenging.
One of the reasons is because it's sitting in opposition to Saturn.
Saturn is a planet of scrutiny and of rejection and of caution and of definitely going slowly.
So it's sitting in opposition to a vibe that is like, no, wrong, do it again.
And we know Virgo's already like that.
Virgo's already doing that. So it feels like a moment where we're having to adjust things or we're
having to be really meticulous about what it is we're wanting to do, how to do it, and what will and
won't work. That's one layer of it. The other thing is that it's also sitting in a square to Jupiter,
which is our forever hype queen. We love a square from Jupiter. I'll take it. I'd rather have a
shrine, but I'll take a square. And so there is this kind of like breath of fresh air that's also there.
It's just that Saturn is more closely aligned to an opposition, which is a very like scouring,
scowling type of energy. And so the inner critic might be all the way dialed up right now,
or the external critic. The criticness of the moment is really kind of maximized here.
and it's something that we do feel all week because the sun finally perfects that opposition with
Saturn on Saturday. So it is a vibe of the week. It's like, no, that didn't work. No, that's wrong. No,
you don't get to go there. No, you didn't do your homework. No, you didn't clean your room. No, no, no.
So that is one of the vibes of this new moon. So how do we work with that kind of energy, that kind of
moment. Well, it's a really good time to get out ahead of that part of yourself. It's a really good
time to be on the lookout for those inner voices that curb your ability to thrive and to grow.
Mistakes are good to make. They're not bad. They're excellent. We need to make them. And we need to
actually become experts at making mistakes and learning from our lessons because that's how we'll
grow. That's how we will move into a sense of expertise. And that's how we develop confidence.
Real confidence is being able to be in a tricky, sticky moment that's complicated where we fuck
up and we get to say, oh, okay, that was me. I did that incorrectly or I didn't know any better.
Great. Now I know better. Now I'm going to course correct. Now I know the thing I didn't know before.
either I was unconscious that I do that kind of thing or I just didn't know it. Now I know, got it,
let's go. Let's incorporate it. Let's digest it. Virgo is the digestion system. So we want to think about
what are these morsels of correction that we are chewing on and how can we digest it and incorporate it
and let ourselves off the hook for being a human and having to learn lessons? Like,
Literally, that's why we're here. We are not supposed to know the things until we learn the things.
And then it's on us to keep doing the thing that we know is right to do.
So there's a lot about right and wrong with this astrology. And again, I want us to get out of that binary thinking.
And I want us to move into a place of like, what am I learning? How can I be the best student in my own class?
Life is the teacher. You're at the head of the class.
So we are not going for perfection this week.
We are going for being the best student, being able to take the lessons, integrate them, sit with them, mull them over, ask questions, be curious, and be willing to be the best student that we can possibly be.
Also on Monday, just in the mix of this new moon, Mars is making a square.
Neptune, which makes us feel like I'm not sure which way to go or seems like a situation where the
direction currently is a little unclear. So that's fine. It's like hitting fog when you're in a car.
It's okay. Being disoriented is actually part of the journey. It's like getting bowled over by a wave and
you've got to figure out for a minute like how to float so you can find the top of the water and not think that
down is up. So if you get thrown around a little bit or if it feels like life is in a little bit of
a spin cycle drier situation, wait it out. Wait for clarity. It's okay if you don't know where to go
right now. The moon is dark. There's no light to go by. Mars is making a square to Neptune. We're going to
just be. We're going to wait for clarity because it will come. It always comes. This new moon is also in a
to Mars by whole sign. So it's a mixed situation. I've been saying this for weeks because there's
been so many things in mutable signs, which Virgo is a mutable sign, that it's not good and bad.
I just don't want us to get caught in this place. It's not a bummer. It is a moment that we are
going to learn from and we're just going to be with the magical, mystical, mystical, fertile,
darkness. And if we are in a situation where we're not quite sure which way to turn next or where to go
next or where to take action, great. That's the information that we need. I'm not sure. I'm going to chill.
I'm going to rest. I'm going to meditate on this. I'm just going to be with that confusion. Confusion is its own
teacher and its own friend. It's own friend, our own friend, our friend, a friend. It might not always be
welcome, but it's part of being alive. Okay, God, you know, willing? No, God forbid, we are so sure all the time,
right? That's not life. That's not normal. That's not, we should be stumped by things sometimes,
because we're in the process of learning a new thing. So let us learn new things this week.
I also got to say, this new moon turns into a eclipse.
In two weeks, on the 17th of September, we have a lunar eclipse, a full moon eclipse in Pisces,
the first eclipse near the North Node in Pisces for a couple of decades.
Hate to say it. It's a big deal because it's the first of a series.
The full moon of July, the full moon of August, the full moon of September, all seem to be big
deals. This full moon is an eclipse. So we are, you know, this is, we're moving in, we're in, not exactly
in, but I would say we're in eclipse season. This new moon breaks the seal, right? The new moon is an
initiation point. The new moon is an activation point. And we'll end up at an eclipse in two weeks.
So some would say the beginning of Virgo season was the beginning of eclipse season. I would say yes,
that definitely, because that's where the sun will be when the first eclipse happens. But for
sure, for sure, for sure. Monday is the beginning of eclipse season. What does that mean?
That means, though, we are in for some events, a series of events that are going to start
moving very quickly. Speaking of eclipses, Venus on Tuesday is in Libre right now, superpowered
in all of its glory, helping to promote maybe some harmony. I don't know if that's possible in
the world right now, but maybe, but definitely some pleasure, some joy, some sweetness,
some art, some connection. It's going to make a conjunction to the south node, which is a place
where eclipses happen. Eclipse has happened near the nodes. So it making a conjunction with
this south node actually gives me pause, and this is why. Because in October of 2023,
we had our first eclipse near the south node in Libra. And now Vien,
the ruler of Libra is moving through this part of the sky. So it's just something that, I don't know,
it's just sticking out to me as a situation that is hearkening back to things that happened
in October of last year. It is an emptying outpoint, the South Node. So on one hand,
we can think of this movement, this astral movement, as being an outpouring of love, an outpouring
of art, an outpouring of beauty, an outpouring of anything that is lovely. So it's a release of maybe
like a giant art project or something that you've been creating. It is, again, an outpouring of
feeling or of some kind of gratitude. It's a great day to work on, you know, our gratitude list,
to help our brain remember to look for things that we love and that our inner life, that love
us and that we love and that there's goodness here all the time. We have to always remember our
brains, remind our brains to look for those things. So it'd be really good to have an outpouring
of affection towards each other, an outpouring of support, of mutual aid, of connection,
of justice. Venus is also a planet of justice and equity and fairness and maybe even peace,
if we could say that. So because it's moving over the South Node, it's just giving me pause.
And I just wonder in terms of world events, what's going to happen that, again, is speaking to
the situations that we've been dealing with over the past, almost a year now. And what gets lost here in
terms of building alliances or what is what there's an outpouring around because the south node can
feel like a loss sometimes and sometimes it can feel like an outpouring so we'll hope that it's an
outpouring of love and connection and justice and equity and if it's a if it feels like a loss of that
then you know it is that moment where we're hearkening back to something where we're looping back in a way
to events that occurred in October of 2023 and also March of 2024.
On Wednesday, Mars leaves Gemini, one of the clowns at the circus leaves the tent and moves into cancer.
Okay, fine, it's fine. Mars and cancer is moody for sure.
Mars and cancer has a hard time being direct. Mars and cancer is passive aggressive, maybe not so
passive. But there's this thing where cancer is a crab, it scuttles sideways. And Mars is the direct
warrior like, okay, this is what we need, this is where we're going, this is how we're going to get
there. I'm not going to wait on anybody. I'm just going to go by myself. But cancer is the family.
Cancer's the connection. Cancer's like, everyone's got to be together. And
and safe and love each other all the time and have dinner together. And like Mars is like,
oh my God, claustrophobia in that situation. Also, Mars will retrograde through cancer in the new
year. But it's going to spend a lot of time here. So it's just like not up front. So this is an
excellent time to understand that about yourself, to understand that about ourselves. Where am I
being passive aggressive? Where could I be more direct? What am I afraid of losing or not getting
if I am honest and upfront and direct about what it is I need? And what are my needs? And look,
in the best of all possible circumstances, Mars and cancer is the protector of life, of what is
vulnerable. It can be really like mama, papa, parental, bear energy. So we can think of it like
that as well. And where do we need to be very engaged in that in the world? Like, how can we be
fierce in protecting what needs protecting in the world? On Friday, Mercury makes the third
square to Uranus that it's made over the course of July, August.
and now September. So again, shocking news may be related to something that was shocking in July
and again in August, but there is an announcement that comes through on Friday that's like,
wait, what? Again? Maybe it's again because it's, you know, the post-retrograde, the post-retrograd
shadow moment of like, we, they disrupted this thing again or this thing got changed again.
then on Saturday we have that exact sun, Saturn opposition, which is same as Monday,
an opportunity to say, okay, what am I learning? How am I learning it? How can I best show up as a student
to this moment in my life? How can I not over-criticize myself? How can I not be my own worst
critic? How can I not be harsh towards myself or other people in this moment and just be honest
and accountable and willing to learn and adjust and keep it going, right?
But there is like this thing that feels like maybe it stops on Saturday.
And we might just need like extra rest.
We might need like a moment.
Like just shut it down.
Saturn is good at shutting it down.
Sunday, Mercury moves back into Virgo.
And this is really helpful because Mercury loves being in Virgo.
Now Mercury and Venus are both in signs they do well in.
This is going to help communications.
This is going to help tallying things up.
This is going to help to do the math.
It's going to help to get all the details in order.
And it's going to help us to plan things.
Hey, y'all.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
No, really, like, thank you for leaving reviews in the app store.
I think you know how important reviews are.
I mean, I read reviews all the time. It doesn't matter what it is. I want to read the reviews. So when you take the time to leave us a good review, an honest review, a review from your heart, from your experience of us, it just moves the needle. It helps us so much. It really, really, really, really makes a huge difference in our lives and in this company and in the work that we're doing. Thank you, thank you. Thank you. I wanted to leave you this one called Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo. I feel like I've met.
my fairy godmother and her team of mighty helpers.
Chani and company offer wisdom and encouragement through their many resources on the app.
I devour the content, seeking the comfort and guidance contained therein.
With the help of Chani and her team of talented creatives, I'm getting like choked up.
I feel better prepared for the astra weather on the way,
and I'm able to make sense of the storms and sunshine that have already passed.
Chani's insights help me prepare for each day, and I appreciate her continual reminders to grow,
make space, and go with the flow. I've not only uncovered new layers of myself, but also a
profound appreciation for the wise and ancient guides in the sky. Wow, I love how they put that.
Thank you. All right, chill. Next week, September 14th, Venus in Libra makes a trine to
Jupiter and Gemini. And this is one of the like standout beautiful, sweet, helpful moments
in September. And then we've got an eclipse on the 17th. So come back and we'll talk about how to
work with this really, really, really lovely energy and how to also prepare for the eclipse that's
right around the corner. I'm sending you so much love. So many blessings. Thank you for listening.
Thank you for spending some time during the week thinking, reflecting.
maybe planning out what the week will be.
Maybe you're reflecting on what the week already was.
You're listening to this at the end of the week.
I love it when people do that because then they can tell me without any kind of confirmation bias,
how it all rolled out.
But I also think it's helpful to know what's coming up.
So never, ever, ever, ever, ever fear the astrology.
Never let it limit what you do with life.
This is all just a weather report.
It's up to you to do what you want with it.
within it. And I hope that this little podcast can be a bit of a guide as to how to best approach it
and make the most of all of the different moments. All right, Joe. Like, subscribe, do the things.
Tell your people about this podcast if it helps you, if you find it useful, spread the love.
I really, really, really, really, really so appreciate it when people do that. Thank you,
thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you for leaving reviews. Thank you for trying out
the Chani app where all of this and so much more lives. And again, I'll see you back here next week.
Bye for now.
