Question, over the course of the past week, what has been just getting under your skin in terms of
your relationship dynamics? What has been like, huh, that's weird that that's happening now,
or God, I keep running into my exes or friends that I haven't seen in a long time, or it seems like
a ghost of a relationship from the past keeps circling around me. I just had a dream about my ex last
night or there's something in the air that feels like this is my core relationship pattern.
Why does it keep emerging?
Hello and welcome.
This is the Astrology of the Week Ahead podcast.
I'm your host, your Astro Bestie, Channy Nicholas.
In this episode, we're talking about the week of September 7th now.
This is the deal.
Since August 31st-ish, Venus, Plans,
planet of love and relationship and union and beauty and beauty making and art and culture
has been in its pre-retrograde shadow. Yes, I know. We are going into another retrograde season.
And you might be like, Chani, we just got out of eclipse season. I know, we did. We're not in
the retrograde season yet. Venus will station retrograde on October 3rd. So we have some time.
and we have like almost a month.
But this is the deal is that where Venus is now,
and since about August 31st, where Venus was around August 31st,
throughout Venus's retrograde from October 3rd through November 13th,
Venus will backtrack all the way back to the place it was around August 31st.
So we're living in the like, hmm, it's weird that this thing is happening.
I wonder if I'm going to have to circle back to this in the future.
And yes, you are.
And so am I.
And we are together.
Because we are in a kind of relationship loop, if you will.
We're in a relationship boomerang kind of zone.
We might not notice anything just yet.
But Venus does do an important thing this week.
And it's really one of the first things that happens this week.
Venus spends most of the week finishing its.
travels through Libra, the sign of its home, its home sign, its sign of power, and its sign of
delighting in all things that are cute and flirty and fancy and feel like, oh, this is equal,
this is justice, this is good for our bonds and our connections. And on Thursday, Venus is going
to deep dive into Scorpio, the place of its exile.
the place that it has a hard time in.
And this is where it's going to station retrograde on October 3rd.
So we're still, again, a couple weeks out from that.
But we know we're in the zone.
We're in a zone that we're going to circle back to.
So the people that you're meeting, the people you're stumbling into,
the relationship dynamics, the friendship dynamics, the romantic dynamics,
the professional dynamics, the platonic dynamics,
are all going to be coming up for review.
That's the deal with Venus retrogrades.
On one hand, on a personal level, we are going to be reviewing the things that we do in
relationships.
And then the ways in which we get hooked into relationship dynamics that we actually
don't want to be in.
So I just want us to be like on the lookout for that.
We don't want to be paranoid.
We want to be prepared.
prepared to be like, oh, yeah, I did that. I saw that coming and I still fell for it. Here we are.
That's me. That's being human. That's living through the moment. That is what this time is for.
And if I can get out ahead of a couple of the relationship dynamics, I'm going to want to. You know what I mean?
So that is the deal for this week. We are being like, is this going to come back around to bite me in the ass?
am I going to have to deal with this later? Maybe this is something I have to put off for now.
Some relationship dynamic stuff you do. And also, depending on where Venus is traveling through your chart,
listen to your reading for the week, depending on where Libra is in your chart and where Scorpio is
in your chart, we know that these two areas of life are going to be tied together because Venus is going
to station retrograde in the area of your chart that contains Scorpio. And it's going to retrograde back,
into the area of your chart that contains Libra. It's going to join these things together.
And again, Venus is about relationships, beauty, justice, and values. It's like, what do I value?
What do you value? And how does that attract us to one another? Hopefully we are attracted to
each other because of our value shares, because of our value alignment. I mean, there's other
things to be attracted to for sure. But isn't that what we build a relationship on long term?
Isn't that how to build a functional relationship that can endure the test of time?
So this is what we're going to be paying attention to over the course of the next many weeks.
And I want us to also know that Mercury and Venus will be retrograde at the same time.
And oddly, they will both station direct on November 13th together.
So the end of October through the first couple of weeks of November, both Venus and Mercury
will be retrograding through Scorpio and then Venus will scoge back into Libra.
And they'll both station direct on November 13th.
Big day, big things.
That's in the future.
let's stay with this week. This week, we are like, huh, is this something I'm going to have to come back to?
This is weird. It feels like I'm having a deja vu of something that's happening in the future or something that
has this happened before? Has this not happened before? Have we met? Do we know each other? It's that
kind of vibe. Also on Thursday, Mercury changes signs. It leaves its sign of strength in Virgo and enter
Libra, where Venus just left. So both planets are leaving the sign of their strength,
and Venus is going into the sign of its exile, meaning because Venus is entering Scorpio,
it's a signal. And because it's stationing retrograde in the near future, it is a huge signal
that there is something about equality and there is something about gender-based violence that is
going to be very, very present in our collective experience. There is something that is going to come
up for public examination. There might be a woman or a femme that is prominent in the headlines
and news articles, et cetera, that is personifying the kind of struggle for justice and equality
that we are in right now. This is always going to be a significant.
transit because we are living in late stage patriarchal capitalist white supremacy.
And Venus's retrogrades tend to trigger these moments of acute pain or acute examination of
the very thing that causes so much destruction and pain, which is gender and sexual violence,
like world over doesn't matter.
That's a weapon of war.
It's a tool of white supremacy.
It runs through every system we have.
Obviously, it's all enmeshed in capitalism.
So, you know, I am looking to Epstein trials, cross our fingers.
I'm looking to things to be like exposed another level of something brought to light,
not just to bring something else to light, but to have consequences served.
I don't know if I am just being hopeful.
I don't know if I'm just being optimistic.
But this is a moment where it's like, oh, yeah, that could happen.
I want us to also remember that every eight years, we have the exact same Venus retrograde,
more or less, meaning Venus will retrograde through the exact same basically degrees as it did
eight years ago and it will eight years from now.
And so the last time we had this exact Venus retrograde.
In 2018, Christine Blasey Ford came forward with an accusation of sexual assault towards the then nominee for the Supreme Court, Brett Kavanaugh.
It was September.
So this time, eight years ago, when Venus was in roughly the same position, she was a lot of,
she was coming forward with those accusations.
And then throughout the planet slowing down and stationing retrograde and retrograding,
she would go on trial and eventually he would be confirmed as a Supreme Court justice.
So if that was the last time that this particular Venus retrograde occurred,
what is going to be happening now that echoes?
or rhymes with that event.
That's, of course, not the only thing that happened the world over,
but it was a big deal.
It was a big thing.
And it is a very specific articulation of how misogyny,
gender-based violence, white supremacy, patriarchy,
capitalism, settler colonialism all comes together.
And so my hope and my prayer is that whatever comes forward during this time,
that we are going into, because we are really going into some kind of major underworld journey
with this Venus retrograde. Whatever happens, whatever lands we traverse, that we come out victorious
and change not only personally, but systemically, societally. It is time. We are done. This is it. We are not
bringing these systems into the future with us.
And like I said, also on Thursday, Mercury changes signs not as big of a deal.
Communications aren't as searingly accurate, perhaps.
We've got Mercury moving in to the justice-oriented Libra.
We're over the course of Saturday and Sunday, we're going to have a lot of important
conversations.
What happens is Mercury picks up on a trine with Pluto and then opposes Neptune and then
makes a shrine with Uranus. Basically, it's got a lot going on. There are a lot of important conversations
that we have over the weekend, but they are short and still fast moving. And like, we're going to be like,
oh, yeah, that's interesting. How wild that this happened. And we're going to be making connections,
getting a couple of things wrong, especially on Saturday, but it'll clear up quickly. But also on
Thursday, Uranus Stations Retrograde in Gemini. And this is going to feel.
really loud. It's going to feel like a loud conversation that we need to have or that we are having.
It's going to feel a little disruptive or be disruptive. It seems like there's something in the
airwaves or something in our news feeds that really wants to get our attention. It's about freedom.
It's about chaos. It is definitely about whatever it is that is shifting the world order,
right, of like how nations deal with each other. But again,
Uranus and Gemini is also about our own world order. So just take note of like what we're reviewing.
Like what have I shifted? What's happened? Is that change going to actually stick? Because things
in Gemini don't tend to stick for very long. They're really interesting and there's a lot of information that swirls
around. But it doesn't always necessarily land in a lasting kind of way. So just notice like, oh yeah,
I shifted that thing, but maybe I need to shift it back or I changed the way I was doing this. But now maybe I'm not sure
that's actually working. So we might be interrogating the changes that we've made and taking note if
they are actually really good updates or not. The main event, though, is that there is a new moon on
Thursday. This new moon is happening in Virgo. This is an invitation to press refresh in the area of our
chart that contains Virgo. New moons are really good for going on airplane mode. New moons are really good for
powering down. New moons are really good just to like gather ourselves, take a moment and listen in deeply.
These are times that are super dark. In the darkness, we regenerate. In the darkness, we do magic.
In the darkness, things gestate. A new moon in Virgo is an invitation to think about the systems of
our lives. How are things working? How are they functional?
What is working well? What works on its own accord? What does not need to be messed with? What does not need to be
fixed? What does? What needs your detailed attention? What needs to be serviced in your life? What needs to be
sorted through? What needs to be organized? This is a new moon that's coming on the heels of eclipse season.
The last moon was a full moon in Pisces. It was a big old lunar eclipse. It probably
brought up a lot of things to contend with. It probably brought a lot of change and a lot of feelings
to the surface. And this is just a really nice invitation to get quiet, to assimilate, to chew on,
to digest, to make use of all that got illuminated over the course of August and all of the things
that went on during eclipse season. It's a good time to get quiet, go internal, and just
think, like, how do I need to file this? Do I need to file this away? Is this a piece of work I need to do?
Do I need to learn something about this? What are the skills that I want to develop? What skills could I
develop? Could I work on? Could I practice that would help my life run a little bit more efficiently,
a.k.a. what would help me not leak so much energy or be so distracted or burn myself out? What can I do to
support myself. What can I do ritually, routinely as a practice to support myself?
Virgo loves a ritual. Virgo loves a routine. Vergo loves a practice because when I know what the
routine is, my body knows what the routine is. My body knows how to measure each little
modem of energy. Like, okay, I need this much energy to do this thing. And then I need this much energy
to do this thing and then I need to recoup for this amount of time.
When that's all put in the system, in the mind, in the body, in the energetic system,
we know what we need.
We know how to output.
We know what to input.
And so this is an invitation to just go back to basics and go back to regular scheduled
programming and to feel so sorted out and supported from that kind of boring, ritual,
gorgeous, predictable kind of life. Not that if you're a Virgo son, you're a predictable person. That's
not what I'm saying at all. But there's a magic in routine. There's something here that we can just
kind of like let the routine do the work for us. And within that, it's like spinning or weaving or
knitting. It's like, okay, I know the stitches. I know what I'm going to do. And because the body is busy,
the mind, the soul, the creative energy can do a different thing. So what is the ritual, the routine
that keeps you feeling sorted out and nourished and helped and supported so that other things can
occur so that other flow states can happen? And so that things can feel like put together
and massaged and again integrated and digested and put to use. That's all Virgo wants to do.
Like, what do I have to work with and how do I put it to use? And how do I serve with the things that I have to use? Okay, now it's time for a question from the audience.
Hey, Channy, I just want to first say thank you for being a beacon in these times and helping to orient me and so many others through some difficult shit. And with that, I'm thinking about love and so I'm going to be cliche and be that girl.
Go ahead.
Can you share some insight on how to look at our charts and think about love?
There's so many different aspects I feel that are relevant.
So there's the fifth house, the seventh house.
Sometimes I see that sex is associated with the eighth house.
And then, of course, there are moon placements and our Venus placements.
So if there's anything you can do to help sort of parse out and help us think about
or help me think about how to think about love and romance and connection.
in terms of our chart.
Really appreciate it.
Love you.
Great question.
Something that everyone always wants to know about.
I want you to think about your seventh house for sure in terms of how you relate to other people.
Whether that's platonic or creatively or romantically or professionally, it doesn't matter.
Seventh House tells us about the nature of the other people in your life.
So if there's planets there, they are going to give us a lot of information.
If there's no planets there, great. There's a planet that rules that part of your chart. Where is that planet and what is it? We also need to think about your rising sign and the sign of your seventh house because that alone will tell us a tremendous amount about what you're motivated to do and who you're motivated to meet. So if you're Leo rising, then you're motivated to be the clown or be confident or be a leader.
or to be creatively self-expressed in some way,
but you're going to be attracted to Aquarian-type people.
And Aquarius is logical and is able to look at things from a great distance.
It's also a sign that's ruled by Saturn.
So then I want to know, where is your Saturn?
Saturn is a planet that is associated with a delayed gratification.
So there might be something about the people that you're attracted.
to that are really hardworking or they're scientists or their doctors or their people that are
like really structured and really able to be like, yes, I commit to this thing with you. I'm clear
about that depending on where your Saturn is. And then depending on where, say, your Saturn is or
whatever planet rules your seventh house, then that also tells us something about the nature
of the person that you are going to be attracted to or that you're going to be with. And
also like the area of life you probably will do together.
Like if the ruler of your seventh house is in your 10th house, let's say, then you might work
with them.
You might do public life with them.
If the ruler of your seventh house of relationships is in your 11th house, maybe you meet
them through friends or you do like big community things together.
If the ruler of your seventh house is in your fifth house, then maybe there's somebody that
you have a really good time with.
Like you do game nights and you have a lot of hobbies or you play tennis together.
or you make art together.
If the ruler of your seventh house is in your first house, then your partner needs to feel
like they serve you.
That's something Demetra George taught me and saw it in my chart and she laughed at me.
But it's a combination where you really need to feel like you fit in with your partner
like in a kind of lockstep way to a large degree.
There's things to be said for all those combos.
But that's what I would go to.
Yes, your Venus.
Always. That's the quality and the style within which you relate to people and you want to look for a Venus to Venus connection.
But I want you to actually start with where is the ruler of your seventh house? What kind of planet is it? Is it Jupiter?
Are you attracted to big people that have a lot of faith or a lot of wisdom or a big spirit of generosity or just are the life of the party?
Are you attracted to Mars-type people? Do you have Ares or Scorpio in your seventh house? Are you attracted to people that are either ambitious or they are really active or they act unafraid in the world or they just like cut to the truth? Are you attracted to people that are mercurial? Are you sad rising or Pisces rising? And then you'll be attracted to people that like maybe are magicians because Mercury is a magician or mathematicians or people.
or people that are like really into the details, people that are writers, people that are teachers,
people that are accountants. It can tell us about the quality of the person that you're attracted to.
It can also tell us like what the people you're going to be in relationship with do for a living
sometimes. Sometimes the ways in which the symbols land in people's charts is so oddly specific
that you're like, oh yeah, I have gone out with a lot of people in the beauty industry.
Like say your seventh house is ruled by Venus.
You might be attracted to artists and stylists and people that create beauty in the world in some way, shape, or form.
So think about the sign that's in your seventh house, the planet that rules that house and where that planet is.
And if you read the description of that planet in the Me tab of the Chani app, it will tell you about your relationships.
It will tell you about the type of people.
that your chart says you should be with.
And then you can see if that's true or not.
All right, y'all, that is the reading for the week.
Come back next week.
We'll talk about the fact that Chiron is retrograding from tourists back into Ares.
So the part of our chart that contains Ares is going to get one last final visit from
Kiron.
Bye for now.
