I am your host, Craig Mason, along me today, as always, is writer, collaborator and executive
producer, producer at Craig Mason.
Craig, it's so lovely to be here.
Thank you for having me here.
Craig.
Craig Mason.
We're going to look back at this series and all we talked about this off the pod, but
we're going to talk to you about Craig Mason.
What should be introduced to our other guests?
Sure.
Sure.
I think yes, is a writer.
Executive producer.
Executive producer.
Executive producer.
Creator of Chernobyl.
Chernobyl.
The last of us.
Craig Craig Mason.
Thanks so much for having me, Craig.
You know, it's a real thing.
Craig.
Craig.
Craig.
Yeah, Craig.
Craig.
Craig.
Craig.
I said, Craig. Craig. Craig. Craig Mason. Craig. Craig Craig Craig Craig I Said Craig Craig Craig Craig
Craig Mason Craig Craig Craig Craig Craig Mason Craig Craig
I also want to talk a little bit about sure last of us sure sure sure that's another show we did and of course
Chernobyl Chernobyl high executive produced
Chernobyl. Well, high executive produced Chernobyl, which is a story story about the city of Pripyat
and the fallout from the 1987, you know, a nuclear reactor explosion and the stories of those people
in that area in the Soviet Union. And while I was making that show, while I was making that show,
I would often try to unwind by playing video games.
All right.
Oh yeah.
And one of the video games I was playing
with a little game called Last of Us.
Oh yeah.
Oh yeah.
And I remember being a bone away.
Oh yeah.
Yeah.
Great.
The writing of the person we have mentioned,
but also by Neil Druckman.
And I was blown away and that's when I decided that I would do a new series, not about Chernobyl.
They wanted me to do a season two of Chernobyl. Well, yeah, where is there to go?
And we can't do that. Where is there to go? I think, well, yeah, do you do the fallout?
How do you do a show about a, how do you do? How do you do?
It's just equal.
About a place where literally everyone leaves that place.
When we talked about it, I mean, we got together.
We, HVO were really gracious.
They paid for office.
On box office.
Two weeks of a writer's room to just sort of see
if we could break up.
Well, that's right.
Yeah, that's the void.
Yeah, go. And we did like right. Yeah, that's the void. Yeah, go.
And we did like this.
That's if you're watching an HBO episode of Sex in the City, or bomb blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah Oh, oh, oh,
oh,
oh,
oh,
oh,
oh,
oh,
oh,
oh,
oh,
oh, oh, oh, oh, or a writer's room. We had it for a season two of Chernobyl. I remember we sat, we all sat down
and we went down to norms on La Coenga.
That's, yeah, because people are on the...
We had the room booked out at the studio.
I got the black and shrimp pass.
Oh yeah, oh yeah.
Oh yeah, for many names.
For many names, black and shrimp pass,
you gotta get that in the room.
Did we go down the norms straight away?
Or did we go, or did we get norms?
I feel like on day
one, we got norms like take out. Yeah, we got it. We got it.
We got it. We got those big foil. Got those t-shirts. No, it was because we saw a show with
the Largo. Oh, we saw Largo. Yeah.
So Largo. The comedy show. Yeah, Judd Apatow. Judd Apatow was there with
Thomas, his friends doing stand up. I ran into Todd, director of Joker.
I've worked with him.
Oh, Todd, Todd Phillips.
And we made a joke.
And we made a joke.
And we made a joke.
I said, Todd, you're so serious now.
And he said, well, speak for yourself.
I'm not blowing up Russian town.
Yeah, and he said to me, yeah, we'll wait till you see
the sequel to Joker.
Then tell me if I'm taking myself seriously.
It's a musical with a lady Gege.
And this is her.
He said to me as well after that.
I don't know if you remember Craig.
I was at the same person.
Oh, you were at norms.
By then I was at norms.
He said to me,
I get a hot cakes, maybe a side of coffee,
maybe hash brown sausage.
Oh yeah.
So were you at norms as well at this point?
I was at norms that morning.
I remember I got my car parked in Valet.
Yeah, I said I'm gonna go into norms
and I'll be back in maybe an hour.
So you were at norms, you were at norms.
I was still at Largo.
Yeah, I'm talking a Todd at this point.
Todd Phillips.
Right.
And why did Todd say?
He says to me, he says,
are you doing a season two of Chernobyl?
Oh, you're doing a season two of Chernobyl?
Oh, he knew, oh, he knew.
Well, he knew we were working on it.
Cool, cool.
Right.
And I said, sure, yeah, we're working on it.
And I told him at the time, because at the time we were thinking, what if Chernobyl blew
up again, what if, what if it blew up again?
And we had a group of people coming in to see what was happening.
You know, how they do that sometimes.
And it blew up again.
Sure, sure.
And, well, that never happened.
Yeah. No, no, but we thought what if it happened?
I think it's fun sometimes when you're writing
to explore every idea.
Oh, you got it.
Regardless of how silly it may seem.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Sure, noble blowing up again.
I mean, my pitch for the sequel was about a pop star who was very morally and ethically
a sound.
Oh, yeah.
I wanted to make this, this, this sequel share noble.
Sure. Sure. sure. I had
I had that idea and at the moment you decided to do sure noble I pitched the what if version
of Chernobyl that's when we split off yeah, yeah, I pitched that we split I pitched that
I mean well yeah, that's the moment. All right, that happened. That happened earlier in the day. There was rings.
And there were two crags.
I pitched the idea for share noble to Todd Phillips.
In New York, we went down to Katz's,
got a salary soda and the hot pot.
Was he making Joker 2 there?
He was talking about it.
He actually was in pre-proud.rod i said to him how do you do
sequel about a about a joker about someone who's the silly you know a prankster sure you know
when you're a little bit and he said a musical with lady good uh well you gotta go to cancels because
it's an institution it's an institution you get the brisket hot dog, brisket, salad, soda, just a side of fries or something.
I never made that trip.
I never made that trip because we were so different at that point.
We split.
We split sliding doors with Greta Paltrow.
So you made that trip with him?
Were you still the same Craig Mason at that point?
I was a drag Mason at that point? I was pregnant at that point. I we split at a point a little bit later. We're an I hop.
Oh, actually, yeah, and Glendale. Oh, yeah, and Glendale. Oh, yeah.
Three months later and I wanted a burger and they were doing I hop. Obviously, I hop stands for
International House of Tank. He's part of the time. They were doing the promotion. I hop.
That stood for International House of Burgers.
That was just a promotion.
You can get a chicken burger, you can get a beef burger,
turkey burger if you're watching your calorie intake.
They're a cheap burger?
That cheap burger?
Sure, sure, sure.
Impossible beef burger.
Yeah, beyond, they're doing gion now.
Burgers, the vegans.
You gotta get beyond burger now.
Have you been to never say die? Oh yeah, all burgers never say die. And several like'm not vegans. You gotta get beyond burger now. And you've been to never say die.
Oh, yeah, all burgers never say down.
And several like you gotta get there.
You gotta get there.
Yeah, gotta get there.
Have you been there?
Yeah, that's the place.
They say you gotta buy two.
When you usually get you one burger,
you get another one too.
Because you got smash patties.
Yeah, smash patties, sure, sure, sure.
So it makes those ends a little bit crispier.
Yeah, I go down there on my scooter. Oh, you scoot. Yeah, I go down there on my scooter.
Oh, you scoot?
Yeah, I scoot down there on my like,
last one.
I got a best spot on my best best spot.
He comes over because he's working down.
Oh, you're not using lime?
No, I'm using like a little vest spot.
Okay, cool.
I use the ones off the street.
I put my helmet inside the seat.
Yeah, so he comes, he rides all the way over
because he's on Foxlot at the moment.
I'm on Fox.
What are you working on?
Well, this is, we'll see at this point, right?
So you were still working on your season two of Chernobyl.
Yeah, my version of it.
Sure noble.
Yeah.
Share goes noble.
My version had already been cut.
And I remember thinking.
I guessed.
Yeah, it was good.
Sure noble again.
I was already at this point talking to Neil Druckmann
about working on last of us.
Sure.
This was something I was really excited about.
Yeah.
You didn't think to do last of us for another two, three weeks.
No, I was caught up in the Cuckman controversy.
I thought he was a Cuck.
Oh yeah.
And at the time, I thought, if I work with a Cuck,
he'll fuck my wife and I'll have to watch.
Oh, yeah. So then you realize that it's the other way, right? If I work with a cook, he'll fuck my wife and I'll have to watch.
So then you realize that it's the other way, right?
I realized that everyone calling Druckman a Cuckman was a Cuckman.
Right, so this is actually something they called him because he took a bold narrative choice in the second game.
Yeah.
Okay.
So you were deciding between Craig Mason.
Craig Mason, but you were telling me when you split off from this Craig Mason.
Yeah, sure.
So I was an I hop and Glendale.
Yeah, as were you.
I was like, I'm going to try.
At this point, you're one Craig Mason.
Yeah, and I was like, you know what?
I'm going to try the I hop burger.
Oh, yeah.
And this Craig Mason said, I'm going to stick
with blueberry pancakes.
Yeah, and with the blueberry syrup.
And I went on to make a show called anti-Donna's coffee cafe.
It was about three Australians, a fish out of water.
Also, you never made last of them.
Oh, I made last of them.
No, well, well, the anti-Donna's coffee cafe
is an adaptation of the video game last of it.
In his, in this, I got a question.
It, again, there was a split.
There was a split.
You went in love to get the Craig and the you
Went down a more traditional path. I'm like the story. You went to I have got pancakes. Yeah
Is that make sense? Well, he went to I hop I went to I hop I got I got the blueberry pancake
You I got the blueberry pancake. I put the blueberry
I got the blueberry pancake. I put the blueberry.
I put the blueberry.
I put some blueberry syrup.
Oh yeah, you get the choices down there.
So I never went to I have no understanding.
I just, I went to, I think on that day,
maybe I got the sushi.
What's that sushi?
Oh, it's over fish.
You got silverfish.
Yeah, I got sushi that day.
Yeah.
You got to understand, we're like three months different
at this point.
Oh yeah.
So you both went to I have, I never went to that I have. Oh yeah. So you both went to IOP.
I never went to that IOP.
Oh yeah.
There's like a sliding doors.
Here's my question.
When we split.
Yeah.
Do we become two people in the one world
or are we multiverse?
Is it like, I can't break us to a very serious and fatigue side there is there to say I don't know I don't care
Well, well into two is it like I can't decide there's only two is it a cloning? I would say it's apparitions
and I would like and so oh yeah, oh yeah, I have a thought.
That thought manifests itself in another Craig Mason.
There are over 5000 Craig Mason.
Craig.
Craig.
Craig.
5000 Craig Mason.
Yeah, are there 5000?
Are there 5000 worlds?
Oh, does each of those Craig Mason's exists Oh, oh, no they exist in this work every time
Craig Mason has a thought Craig Craig Craig every time Craig
Every time Greg Mason has a thought Greg not Greg not Greg listen. You're not saying it
So that's what we're talking about. It's my name. Yeah, and that's what we're saying
Oh, I mean we shared the same name. Yeah, and that's what we're saying. Oh, how does that mean?
We shared the same name.
We were once the one Craig Mason.
Yes, we were, but every time Craig Mason has a thought, another Craig Mason is born.
And so Craig Mason has had over 5,000.
Splitting of an Adam.
Yeah.
But splitting of a...
Adam.
No, Craig.
So not an Adam.
My Craig Mason. Not an Adam driver. Not an Adam driver. Not an Adam driver So not an Adam. My question is, not an Adam driver.
Not an Adam driver.
And an Adam who I would love to work.
Oh, I love Adam.
I love to work.
So I've loved him since girls, you know.
Since girls.
So here's my question.
I'm the lady at IHOP.
Oh, yeah.
I'm taking your order.
Are you Craig Mason?
No, no, no, no.
Right now I'm the lady at IHOP.
Right.
Oh, sure.
Well, there is probably a Craig Mason
that is a lady at IHOP. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah lady at IOP. Oh, sure. Well, there is probably a Craig Mason that is a lady at IOP.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
So I'm there at IOP and I'm taking your order and I say,
Hey, what do you want?
I'll say, Hey, what's your specials today?
Oh, well, now we're IHOP.
I don't know if you saw the campaign on Twitter.
Are you doing burgers now?
Yeah, we're doing, we're doing burgers now.
But now we're gonna push in the burgers.
Y'all get your doing, hey, they're doing burgers now.
So we're doing burgers now in burgers. Y'all get your doing, hey, they're doing burgers now. So we're doing burgers now.
Sure.
Hot dogs.
No, I don't believe we're doing hot dogs.
You want to hot dogs?
You go to pink, you go to high-hows.
We ain't, I ho, you understand? We're not, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I ho, I I had I had I had I had I had I had not yet at least where I have yeah international house
Oh, yeah, now in this moment you both make a separate decision
Well, I was talking to the waiter where the waiter go because I want to place my order. Yeah, so you understand
I'm the waiter sure. I'm the waitress sure yo, right?
She's got like a 50s sort of do and I go to winchels after this. Am I getting mainly getting a winchels donuts
in the way home or am I having dessert?
Oh, I think you're getting the donuts
for breakfast tomorrow.
Oh sure.
Because you got an early morning.
Yeah.
I'll go to tray hoes.
Treyhose tacos or tray hoes.
Treyhose, how?
Treyhose.
Treyhose.
Oh, Danny Treyhose.
Danny Treyhose.
I'll get my donuts from Treyhose.
I love Danny Treyhose.
Yeah.
Yeah. I like SK, SK donuts.
SK.
So my question is right, in that moment,
you decide burger, you decide pancakes.
Yeah.
Do I see in that moment two Craig Maisons manifesting
or is there two of me, two Craig Maisons, two I hop?
Yeah, no, no, no, no, where is the same priority?
I just say, we're the same I hop.
International House of Pancakes.
And I wanted to say, I ordered the pancakes.
Does I map the international House of Pancakes?
And they've gone, they're no longer iHOP.
But they're still doing the burgers.
That was a promo bo.
That was a promotion.
They're still doing the burgers.
So I would say, the idea was like, now they do burgers.
They're going back to iHOP.
Yeah, they're more like Denny's again now,
but with burger options or sandwich. But that's like, it's like, we're back to I hop. Yeah, they're more like Denny's again now, but with burger options or sandwich.
But that's like it's like, we're back to I hop
for we're keeping the burgers.
Yeah, yeah, or are there no more burgers?
No, they're, I mean, they still have burgers.
It was a promotion to show the new burger menu
at I hop, which was always the name.
You can get those same burgers.
Yeah, you can.
What I loved about that is they changed the P to the B
in the physical locations.
I love that they did, they did digitally.
They did it with the F,
because nothing compares to just the real location.
Well, you just gotta flip it.
Yeah, flip it.
Well, you just gotta flip it.
So you're back where you're back to talk about the promotion of the series and the rollout of the bean
chart of from Auntie Donna's coffee cafe.
So after this, sure, sure, sure.
Well, one of us has a vibrator in our bottoms.
Oh, which one of us could it be?
Yeah.
One of us has a vibrate heart in our bottom.
Oh, do you think that it could be me?
Ha-ha-ha!
Welcome back to an in-depth comp.
That was a scene from Antidonna's coffee cafe there,
the show that I Craig Mason wrote.
Now we're gonna play a little scene from last of us.
I don't know if we can legally share truth.
Well, it would be good to do a direct comparison
to see how adaptation can come out so different.
And then you were gonna,
if you wanted to play a clip from Sure Noble,
yeah, season two of Turn Noble.
Yeah. Okay.
So what we might need to do is we'll play a real clip
from the show, the,
our Shady Donna show.
We just don't,
we just don't need to play those clips.
No, we're gonna play them.
And then we're gonna,
and then you're gonna do a scene from,
you're gonna act out a scene from last of us.
You're gonna avoid any sort of copy, right?
And then you're gonna do a bit from Sure Noble, but You were going to avoid any sort of copy, right? And then you're going to do a bit from Chernobyl,
but the first scene, Chernobyl scene,
then we're going to do a last-of-a-sale-a-sale-o-bull.
I know the idea of doing a real scene, right?
I think that's fun.
I think it's more fun to see Craig Mason,
doing a scene from memory from the show.
I agree, it's what I want to see.
No, no, but I'm going to do a show, my show.
Yeah, I'd love to see Coffee Cafe.
Oh, sure. Oh, sure.
Okay. Oh, did you Craig Mason show?
Yeah. Well, his Craig Mason show.
Yeah, you did season two of Chernobyl, Chernobyl.
Cher-Nobal. I did last of us.
Yeah.
He did Andy Donas Coffee Cafe.
Yeah, and so...
When you...
It was the home of I hopped for the headquarters.
I've seen Andy Donas Coffee Cafe. Is it the X-Core, sorry. I've seen Annie Donna's coffee cafe.
Is it the same Annie Donna's coffee cafe?
That's exactly the same.
I didn't have anything to do with that one.
It's exactly the same.
Well, I'm not seniors.
Isn't that crazy?
Yeah, sure.
My one was made by Annie Donna.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Do you have an Annie Donna's coffee cafe?
No, not that I've made.
But I have seen, I've been busy with share noble too.
Yeah, share noble.
Did it do well?
It's a weird idea.
No, no, no.
You should have known.
You should have known.
Everyone was confused because they were like,
why isn't it said in Russia?
Did you do share noble recaps?
I tried.
I tried.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
But the reception to the first episode was so brutal.
And that's this biz, though, you know, you make a show,
you get light up a joint, you go on the bus,
you go to sleep, you wake up, you're in the next city.
Oh, yeah, I mean, that's the way it was.
When you're on tour.
Oh, when you're on tour, yeah.
You know, you gotta do the tour bus. Yeah, you gotta do the tour bus. it goes. When you're on tour. Oh, when you're on tour, yeah. You gotta do the tour bus.
Yeah, you gotta do the tour bus.
Yeah, you gotta do the tour bus.
Cause that's when you're on tour.
You do that show, you know.
You finish that show at like 10 PM, 11 PM.
Yeah, you wrap up.
You just get on the bus.
Once you're done, sit down, you have beer,
you smoke a joint, you go to sleep on the tour bus.
You wake up, where are you in the next city?
You're in the next city.
It's in easy.
Well, here's a scene from anti-donna's coffee cafe
written by Craig Maison.
Yeah.
Hey, how are you?
Me?
Yeah.
I'm as same as you.
Where's the same guy?
Yeah, let's get a cup of coffee.
Yeah, let's get a cup of coffee.
Get a slice of wine.
My name's Mark.
My name's Mark.
What?
My name's Mark.
I'm from anti-donna. Oh. Hey? My name's Mark, I'm from Annie Donna.
Oh.
Hey guys, it's me.
Wait, is this a scene from the show?
Yeah.
It's me, Rodin, I'm from Annie Donna.
Yeah, hi, it's me, Zach.
I'm, my name's Zach, I'm from Annie Donna.
Oh, guys.
Played by Craig Mason.
Yeah, sure.
I didn't realize we were doing a scene from that.
Yeah, sure, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, let's go and find out some adventures. Oh, sure, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Let's go into find out some adventures.
Oh, sure. Yeah. Yeah. Let's find out what they are. Oh, sure. Let's go and do them.
So that's a scene I wrote there. I, as you can see, what I wanted to do was break that fourth wall,
and you saw it with that Zach character. I, I, they didn't realize they were in a show. Yeah.
Can I ask you a question? So they started halfway through that scene to start saying, no, I didn't know I was in a scene.
So did you write that?
Yeah, yeah.
So I got three questions, right, Craig,
if you'll humor me first.
Yeah, and I'll go out.
Three Craig's three questions.
Three Craig's three questions.
First question you answered.
Second question is, why were you playing all the parts?
Well, I thought that would be easier
in this world of the world that I'm from,
the Craig well, in the Craig reverse.
Oh, there's more Craig.
Oh, there's more Craig.
There's more.
Oh, for every time the original Craig,
amazing.
Craig, Craig.
For every time,
Craig Manson has a thought,
another Craig is born.
But they go to an eye hop too,
and they different different.
Oh yeah, they love an iSplot forms.
Yeah, they go to a diner.
Could be a could be diners, you know, diner in an
window.
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, diners.
Who those big bucks fried chicken.
Oh yeah.
E-I-N-A-H.
Yeah.
Oh yeah.
Oh yeah.
So they might go to diners, they might go to go to iHop.
Denny's even sometimes.
Yeah sure.
Sure the Denny's just stopped the 5-0-4.
Is it IHOP?
IHOP.
At this time, we're going now today.
Yeah.
We're going today.
Yeah, we're going to IHOP.
Oh, they went to IHOP.
What did you say?
IHOP?
I said IHOP.
IHOP was a promotional.
Yeah, yeah, okay.
It was a promotion to a...
So you know IHOP? Oh, yeah. Yeah. So you know IHOP. They do pay. I just yeah, okay. That was a promotion to a... So you know I hop.
You, uh, yeah.
You know I hop.
They do panicking.
I just know to check.
You know I hop.
Yeah.
Okay, he knows I hop.
Oh, you know I hop.
Oh, yeah, they do pancake.
Yeah, sure.
That's where you two split, yeah.
Yeah, well, uh, technically, yes.
But at the time, they were referring to themselves as I hop.
So for both of you as Craig Maisons,
you know why they were called I-Hob?
Yeah, the burgers.
Yeah, it was a promotional thing.
It was not heard of that.
Yeah, just for a month or so.
Well, I was confused because I went there
and I said, what, they're pancakes on the menu?
Yeah, right, so it's I-Hob.
It was to promote the new burgers.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, you know, I hop.
You know, I hop.
I hop.
I know I hop.
Okay, so before that, you know pancakes.
I had some at norms.
Well, you know cakes, right?
I'm aware of cakes.
I've had a birthday cake when I was growing up.
No, no cakes.
You got that.
You know cake.
But how do they make cakes that make them in an oven?
Yeah, all right, they bake them.
Well, I've actually made an Oreo cheesecake
that doesn't involve the ancient cookies.
Are you like Oreos, Oreos, fridge, bake?
The point is you're not making them in a pan on a fried pan.
Pancake, it's like a cake,
but they make it on a fried pan.
That's like hot cakes.
Hot cakes, hot cakes.
Hot cakes on a hot. Yeah, it's like hot cakes. Hot cakes, hot cakes.
On a hot.
Yeah, like a hot thin cake.
Yeah.
It's a hot cake.
And they're delicious on a hot.
Yeah.
And you'll get a stack of these, maybe two, three, four,
depending on how hungry you are.
Yeah.
And you can buy them with maple syrup, maybe butter.
Oh, Canadian style.
Yeah.
Doesn't matter why.
You know, Canadian style pancakes, but you don't know pancakes.
No, I said I knew pancakes.
I was humoring you while you were on the show.
Oh, I'm sure it's her.
Sure, sure, yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Sure, yeah.
But explain to me again how it works.
It's a hot cake.
So you're on show.
Are you sure you're on a Genners?
No, he's not.
No, I'm actually confused.
So no, you're on tour, right?
And you just finished up your show.
You're a Madison Wisconsin.
You're a Madison Wisconsin. Maybe you're in the Twin? And you just finished up your show. You're in Madison, Wisconsin. You're in Madison, Wisconsin.
Maybe you're in the Twin Cities.
Yeah.
You finish your show.
Seattle.
You get on the bus.
Normally, you go back to the hotel.
You'd have to wake up at 5, get on the plane.
Got an American airline flight.
I need to find it.
Say I'm in the windy city.
Yeah, sure.
All right, maybe if you got enough airline points,
they might bump you up to premium.
Yeah.
Oh, you fly United?
Oh, yeah.
You got to avoid coach. Oh. Yeah, you to premium. Yeah. Oh, you flying United? Oh yeah.
You got to avoid coach.
Oh.
Yeah, you got to avoid coach.
Oh yeah.
They might kick you out.
If you're on tour, you're on the bus, you finish the show, you get on the bus, you smoke
a joint, you go to sleep.
You're wake up in the next city.
You wake up in the next city, you understand.
You got it, you got to come back though.
And that's how I hop.
I wake up, I'm in New York.
You catch the silly with a... I have to. I wake up, I'm in New York. And cats are still in with a cat dog.
I need to be clear here, right?
In my world, there's only one Craig Mason.
You're talking to me.
And you're wearing the same shirt.
I've come to your world.
How?
Through like a sliders type situation.
So like a portal?
No, well yeah, I have like a little remote
and I got like a Gerriton.
A little tubey. A little tubey? Yeah, it's on tubey. Yeah I have like a little remote and I got like a Jerry Hall. A little tooby.
A little tooby?
Yeah, it's on tooby.
Yeah.
A little tooby remote?
Yeah, I got like a little tooby remote.
A little Roku?
Yeah, like a little Roku remote.
Yeah, you're sure they're great.
And I press the button and there's like a little stargate
but it's not like bound by, like,
you know how stargate is like bound by like,
like yeah, yeah, yeah.
In your world do they have Jersey mics? Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. In your world, do they have Jersey mics?
Oh, yeah.
Oh, gotta go.
Okay, Jersey mics.
Yeah, it's like subway, but it's like they put the hot cake.
Sure, they're making it out of hand.
They put the moon on the griddle.
They put it on the griddle.
Yeah, they do.
They gotta go with the griddle.
Yeah, they gotta go with the griddle.
The cheese steak, fresh.
Sure, so I came here and I like I thought I was meeting from Jersey
Mike's. Well, no, I was at the I was at the like an Oscars
luncheon. Oh, so I like nothing to do with me. I don't do
Sesame Street. What's that?
About Sesame Street? Oscar luncheon. No, like it was a
friend of mine. I was thinking of the grouch. Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, see,
you're thinking of Oscar the grouch.
I'm talking about Oscar, the Oscar's ceremony.
Oh, sure, sure.
So it's like the, they give out this award once a year
to like the best movies.
It's sort of like the Emmys, you know, the Emmys.
Oh yeah, I know the Emmys.
So a friend of mine was going, he said,
hey, I got a plus one, you want to come with me. But it's like the Emmys, but it's for movies. You know know the Emmys. So a friend of mine was going, he said, hey, I got a plus one, you want to come with me.
But it's like the Emmys, but it's for movies.
You know, pan Emmys, pan Emmys.
Pan Emmys, I don't know the pan Emmys.
So you know Emmys.
Oh yeah, they're big, they're fluffy.
Yeah.
They're making me into fridge or nothing.
Yeah, I had one at a hospital.
Emmys in a pan.
Emmys are they flat?
They're a bit flatter, pan Emmys.
Emmys with maple syrup. Maribel syrup, yeah. It's a lot like a pancakeymis, and with maple syrup.
Maribles syrup, yeah.
It's a lot like a pancake to a cake.
Sure, yeah.
And that's what I was going for, yeah.
But we had two more scenes to see.
Oh, sure.
We had Craig Mason's last of us seen,
and we had your scene from Chernobyl.
Two, let's take a look at Craig Mason's last of us.
Oh, hey there, little girl. Oh, hey. Hey there, I at Craig Mason's The Last of Us. Oh hey there, little girl.
Oh hey.
Hey there, I'm Craig Mason.
Yeah. I'm Craig Mason, small and rich.
Craig, small and rich.
Craig, Craig Mason.
I'm Craig.
Hey, I'm smaller and I'm a girl.
Now that we're at this leg of the journey,
here's someone that we maybe can trust, maybe can't.
Yeah, how are you doing?
Hey, Horiam, Craig Mason.
Hey, Craig.
I'm the writer. Hey, Craig.
I'm the writer, a showrunner of the Last Vust
and Chernobyl.
Sure, so I'm played by Pedro Pascal.
Okay, cool, right?
I'm played by Bala Ramsey.
Bala Ramsey.
Correct, she's British.
But I am Craig.
And so basically what's happening is she got a bite,
but she's not sick.
Yeah, okay, cool.
Sarah and I.
And I got a real fuck you attitude.
You got a real fuck you attitude.
No, well, there's no more CVS.
No, they're all closed.
And all the, and the C is all wrong.
Yank of Vans.
No, C, so the CVS, right?
It's closed and the C is all wonky.
We're not even a galsons, can't get a galsons.
Oh no, no, they're closed.
They're all closed.
You can get soap.
People are just trying to survive, get along,
get through the day.
Just get through.
We don't have time to go to whole foods.
And this is the thing, right?
So I've survived, I've survived because I've killed people.
Sure, yeah.
I've lost my, what?
My humanity.
Yeah, and that's the main theme here.
And I said that, you can't go to Routman.
No, no, no, no, no, no more, no more.
I get my food from Rations from the FDA.
So I said to Neil Druckman, right?
I said, I said, what's this about?
Oh, he made us, right?
Yeah, right, right.
Is this still the show?
Oh, yeah, yeah.
I said, Neil, what's this about?
And he said, oh, it's about like controlling with the control making people move around, right? Oh, yeah, I said Neil, what's this about? And he said, oh, it's about like controlling
with the control making people move around, right?
Oh yeah.
And I said, no, it's about someone who's lost their humanity.
Trader Joe, what is the cost?
Oh, they're close.
Oh yeah, no, no, they're close.
Trader Joe's close.
And they're all empty, right?
You might find a couple of bullets.
You can get a can of a soup or ravioli.
Most people bore a name, you know.
Boyard D, boyard.
You gotta find, you gotta find.
If you want some good tea,
you gotta find the guy from Parks and Rec.
Oh yeah, I like the waffle on Vine.
So no, no, that's close. Oh, yeah
We're eating his rations, but if you want something good to eat the guy from parks and wreck
White Lotus white Lotus on they're making good food and they're making love
They've got to go find the good food from them
All right
There it is wait and there it is
So what's crazy about this right? All right. There it is. Wait. And there it is.
So what's crazy about this, right?
The splitting like an atom, like a single cell organism
that is happening in your world.
Where you have 5,000 Craig Masons.
I only got one Craig Mason.
And when I said to Neil Druckman,
I want all the characters to be Craig Mason.
He said, well, one, that's not like the game.
I said, we're not making a game.
We're making a TV show.
And we're making an adaptation.
You know, we're adapting.
He said, okay, two, there's only one Craig Mason.
I said, I think Pedro Pescal.
I think Bella Ramsey.
Ramsey?
Yeah, I think they're good enough actors.
And we said to them, we said to them,
can you do this as Craig Mason?
I of course played the part of Craig Mason,
the last guy.
Yeah.
And it worked, I think it really worked.
It didn't do well.
No.
I believe somewhere out there,
there is a Craig Mason that did this show
with the cast that I had.
Yeah.
With the Bella Ramsey, the Pedro Pascal.
Pedro Pascal. He's such a dad. With the Bella Ramsey, the Pedro Pascal. Pedro Pascal.
He's such a dad.
He changed a few things, like quite a few things,
but they were playing not Craig Mason.
And I think that's the successful version.
That's maybe the key.
You're saying no Craig Mason?
I think that maybe my writing all the characters is me.
Craig Mason.
Craig Mason, that I didn't do well. The choice to have the characters as me. Greg Mason. Greg Mason, it didn't do well.
The choice to have the characters in the show
talk about the video game.
We heard that it was an odd choice
and I think it put people off.
HBO, they said to me, we love Chernobyl.
We didn't trust you.
When you came to us and you wanted to make Chernobyl,
you wanted to not have the Chernobyl blow up.
Yeah. Yeah.
That was what I originally wanted.
They said, we didn't trust you to do that.
And then we got the biggest show, you know.
Oh yeah, history.
Yeah. Yeah.
I originally pitched a pre-ch Chernobyl.
Pre-ch Chernobyl or pre-ch Chernobyl?
Pre-ch Chernobyl. Well, pre-chern noble or pre-chern noble. Pre-chern noble.
Well, pre-chern noble.
And it was just about a bunch of Russian people
sort of walking around, having go into the shops,
and then they go, where are the last episode?
The cliffhanger is at the end.
They go, where are we at the end?
One of them says, we're in Chernobyl.
Yeah.
And that was sort of, what was weirdable. Yeah. And that was sought of.
What was weird though?
Yeah.
Right, because we were the same Greg Mason then.
For a little bit.
What was weird though is I originally had someone going,
oh no.
And then someone said to me, why are they saying,
oh no, and they're saying,
because Chernobyl, you know, the whole nuclear explosion
and they said to me, Greg, Greg, they don, Greg, they don't know about Chernobyl.
Yeah.
To them, it's just their town.
Yeah, it's just worth it.
Why would anyone say, oh no?
And I said, God, dammit, you're right.
I think we gotta just tell the story of Chernobyl.
Yeah, yeah.
And, you know, it was a much more successful show.
Yeah.
Because it had drama.
But here's the thing, HBO, they said to me,
oh, we should have just trusted you.
Oh, box office.
And they said, so we're gonna trust you
with this adaptation of last of us.
That was a mistake.
Yeah.
Because what it turns out, the reason the show did well
is because I did the nuclear stuff.
Yeah.
You understand?
It was because they said no.
And then when they gave me freedom
and all my characters were Craig Mason.
Craig, it didn't do well.
I mean, the people that played the video game
were really confused.
Craig Mason fans were having a great time.
Yeah.
We had like, oh yeah.
Oh, so many Craig.
Mason's tuned in.
Oh yeah.
To see that.
Well, you got to understand.
I don't have a lot of Craig Maesans in my world.
Oh, just me.
Oh yeah, oh yeah, sure.
So you would have had 5,000 viewers.
Yeah, were you born in Brooklyn,
you know, Brooklyn, New York in 1971?
Yeah, we all were.
We were late.
Yeah, we all went to Princeton, yeah.
Oh, we all went to Princeton University. Yeah, yeah, cool. Yeah, we all were. Yeah, we all went to Princeton. Yeah, we all did the university. Yeah, yeah, cool
Yeah, the only difference is you ordered pancakes, you ordered the burgers. Yeah, you you wrote on Rocketman
Yeah, we all did that. You wrote on
Senseless. Yeah, yeah, we all did that. Yeah, you produced on co-producing you directed the specials
Oh, yeah, yeah, we all did that. Yeah, you wrote on scarys. Oh yeah, yeah, we all did that.
Yeah.
You wrote on Scary Movie 3.
Oh yeah, we all did that.
Yeah, sure.
Yeah, cool.
You wrote on Scary Movie 4 and 4.
Oh yeah, yeah, we all wrote on Scary Movie 4.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
2008 you directed, wrote and produced superhero movies.
Of course I did.
Yeah, Craig Mason.
Yeah, Craig Mason.
We all did the same thing.
Hangover part 2, you wrote on. We all did that. Yeah, we all did that. Yeah, Craig Mason. Yeah, Craig Mason. We all did the same thing. Hangover part two you wrote on.
We all did the same thing.
Yeah, we met Todd on that.
Yeah, met Todd.
Where we fill it, Todd Phillips.
Where he pitched me the idea of the Joker Man.
You're my, and I said,
get rid of that.
Get rid of man.
Oh yeah, we went to Timber Lake.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I social networked him.
Yeah, we, yeah.
He said I wanna make a movie called The Joker Man. You wrote on Identity Seaf. Yeah. So did you. Yeah, yeah social networked him. Yeah, we said I want to make a movie called The Joker.
You wrote on Identity Seaf.
Yeah, so did you.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
We all did.
We wrote on Hangover Part Three.
Yeah, I didn't.
Oh, yeah.
I actually pitched Hangover Part Four.
Well, how does that work?
We are at the burger pancakes later.
Oh, that doesn't work.
So we got to check that.
Oh my God.
All right, so here's the twist.
Right. We thought God. All right, so here's the twist. Right.
We thought that you two split, but no, he's like way off from us.
Sure.
Yeah.
He split with a different person at a different eye hop.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Well, we like eye hop.
Well, because my original crake wanted to do hangover part three after part two.
And I said, that's a waste of time
Let's go straight to four when you wrote on the Huntsman winter war. Yeah, well, he didn't no
I wrote on the Huntsman summer war. Oh, yeah, we wrote on Huntsman winter's war. Oh
20 20 16 good. Yeah, I could put this into one of my television. You riding Borderlands.
The video game.
Oh yeah, I got a slack.
Oh, you got a slack.
Oh, you just got a slack?
You riding on a slack?
You're apparently, we're riding
parts of the Caribbean, part six.
Yeah.
Well, are you?
I am.
Yeah.
No, I'm not.
I believe that's gonna be a reboot.
Oh, I don't know if I'm writing on that
because you gotta understand, my shirt did not do well.
I'm not writing on it, but I will be writing on it.
See, they are gonna put me on the ship.
Like horse, oh yeah.
Well, more like a sailor or a pirate.
You know, we wrote mythic quest, yeah.
Yeah, you know, we wrote that.
Of course. I wrote that. Of course.
I gotta say.
A ride is better.
Well, I'm right.
When Great Regret I had in my, you know.
Sorry, were you listening things I'd done?
No, no, that's everything we've done.
Oh, sure.
What am I great regrets in doing last of us
by making all the characters Craig Mason?
Yeah.
Is all the Craig Nasons had played the game?
Sure.
So we gave away the end in the first Mason. Yeah. All the Craig Nasons had played the game. Sure.
So we gave away the end in the first episode.
Yeah.
And I think that was probably the wrong thing to do.
Because like every character was like, don't do it.
Well, it's all about-
Yeah, and I don't want to give it away.
I don't want to give it away now.
I've learned my lesson.
I'm Craig Mason.
I'm Craig Mason.
I'm Craig Mason.
Sure.
Sure, sure, sure.
What were you saying?
I was saying that like,
I shouldn't have written a version of last of us
with all the Craig Masons that have played last of us
because there was no drama.
Oh yeah.
Yeah, if the phone is going,
I'm sorry.
Bonkers.
Maybe it's someone from Borderlands.
Oh, yeah.
All right. Or maybe it's the from Borderlands. Oh, yeah. All right.
Or maybe it's the call about mythic West season first.
Should we talk about Sure Noble?
No, you don't wanna?
Well, let's not talk.
Let's just see a scene.
Hi, I'm sure.
Oh, hey there.
My name is Craig Mason.
Oh, hey there.
I'm like a Lord or a lady.
Oh, hi. I'm from England. Oh. I'm of course Craig Mason. Oh, hey there. I'm a like a Lorda lady. Oh, I'm from England.
Oh, I'm of course Craig Mason.
What is your nobility?
I am a noble.
I'd love to marry you, Sher.
Well, we'll see about that.
I have another suitor.
Yes, Sherison.
Let me get the dollar.
Hey, can I take your order?
You're welcome to IHOP.
Oh, yeah.
IHOP.
I was at IHOP. Oh, no, no, no, no. So that promotion changed on Friday
I so you're not doing burgers. Oh, we're still doing burgers. Oh, you're still doing the burger. Oh, you're still doing burgers. I share
My name is Craig. Okay, sure sure and I am gonna tip very generously
Because I believe that's something that noble people do. I like to tip 15% people do that
Sure, how much do you tip I when I go out at 10 to 15%
Oh, I'm tipping if the service is good. I'll go for 20. Oh, I'm sure my name is Craig Mason. I'm noble
I'm tipping 90% okay cool. You gotta see this, like, I'm a nobility, right?
I'm nobile.
Oh, yeah.
I'm like a Lord or a lady.
He's of nobility.
So, like, I am nobile.
Like, I am nobile.
I am of nobility.
They're for I am nobile.
Yeah.
I've shared my name is Craig Mason.
I'm Craig Mason though.
Sure.
You're Craig Mason.
So I say,
so I just say, like I just leave 50,
even if I pat like a $20 pancake,
I'll just leave 50.
That's more than 100% of the time.
You know what I mean?
I'll leave a big tip.
Yeah.
Right?
And that's what I'll do.
I'm Craig Mason.
Correct.
I'm Craig.
Well, I'm sure my name is Craig Mason.
Oh, okay, sure.
Yeah.
Congratulations on having like a like a hit song in every decade.
Thank you so much. I did it because I believed it was the noble thing to do. Oh, she's noble. So,
you didn't even need to marry me. That's like the twist. It's like the end of that frozen movie.
That's why it's called, Sure, Noble 2. Well, the 2 refers to the two different times.
We still in the same bowl. No, this is Craig now explaining the
I don't like the sentence.
Off to the sentence in my work. Clips will lead directly to
conversations and it is seamless and that's why I'm considered to be such a
great right. Oh, you're well, you're great man.
And you did, yeah.
Turn noble and you did, sure, sure, sure noble
wasn't as good as turn noble.
Sure, sure noble wasn't as good as turn noble.
No, no, it wasn't.
It was pretty good.
But you're a good writer.
So was your, was your, was your one,
what was your one?
You were Annie Donovan.
And you asked Cavik K.
But the, the Cragman, he's in version of it, yeah.
Which is an adaptation of the video game.
I gotta be real here, right?
If there is a version of Craig Mason
that has done Annie Donas' Coffee Cafe,
sold it as an adaptation of last of us.
Yeah, right.
Yeah, that is so out there.
Yeah, that is so weird that happened. Yeah. Well, it's well.
And you know, we're in a word where I hopped, changed this name to I hop. Yeah. Yeah.
And then they changed it back and got rid of their burger. Now they kept the burger. Oh, they did?
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They did. Yeah. You can go in there right now. It was just a promotional. Yeah. Yeah.
It was sort of rebrand I hopped when people hear I hopped. They think burgers promotional. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was just a sort of re-brand I hop. When people hear I hop, they think burgers now.
Right, right, okay.
So I thought the whole restaurant had changed.
No.
And then they changed back.
Cause they thought, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
That's why on that day, I went to Katz's.
I got a salary sorter and a hot dog and what I'm saying is if that is so out
there that that may that tells me that there has got to be billions if not
nearly an infinite amount of Craig may say about five or nine five or nine
they're in there between five and nine. There's at least 5,000 in each of your worlds.
Yeah, I know.
So at least 10,000 Craig Matoes?
Well, a lot of them have died.
Oh.
Yeah.
Well, a lot of them...
Was there like a Craig Matoe war?
Well, no.
I know.
A lot of them had the idea for share noble two.
And then after it was the only show to get a negative percentage on rotten tomatoes. Oh yeah.
There you go.
Yeah, decided to add it.
So there was like that.
So there was like a Craig,
let's see what I'm imagining when you saw that.
A lot of dead crags.
What I'm imagining when you say that is there was like a
Craig Mason war.
There were like groups of allegiances and alliances.
Yeah, well let's change the, let's change the canon.
There was a Craig Mason, or, and they fought
on the battlefield with guns.
So there was a Craig's fighting towards.
Oh yeah?
Craig's versus Craig's.
Yeah, they all met at an IHOP, which was odd
because I hop.
You still exist.
And then they changed their names.
Okay, okay, sure.
So, okay, so you know what happened there?
What?
So in about 20, let me look it up.
Okay, sure.
Oh, it was promotional.
Oh, you guys talking about it.
Oh, you guys talking about iHob?
I hop.
That's the international house of burgers.
Well, that was just promotional. Oh, yeah, it was just promotional. Yeah, sure
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
You're infinite Craig sure are you guys are you guys feeling me here? Yeah, they're infinite infinite Craig's yeah
It's like the multiverse
In the MCU.
Oh, I saw it more as like,
you ever see coherence?
No.
Little Indy film did pretty well South by Southwest.
No.
Oh, you got to see coherence.
Oh, it's really cute.
Yeah.
Yeah, they just shot it at their house.
Wow.
They did it.
No script.
Oh, is that the one set in the house without a script?
Yeah, they just did it.
Yeah, over nine nights.
Yeah.
I haven't really, really.
Okay, so in 2018, I hopped,
changed his name to IHAB.
Oh, they stopped doing pancakes.
Here's a twist.
Here's a twist.
All right.
We didn't have a 2018 in my world.
Oh, you went straight to 2019?
Yeah, Lord Craig Mason, he decided. Oh, yeah. Oh, he's a Lord in my world. Oh, you went straight to 2019. Yeah, Lord Craig Mason, he decided.
Oh, yeah. Oh, he's a Lord in your world?
Yeah, yeah.
So that's a twist.
I thought I was like similar to you,
but we never had a 2018.
In my world, he's more like a low key.
Oh, like a mischief maker.
Yeah, yeah, I understand.
Like a low key.
Mm, yeah.
And that has been the episode one recap of Andy
Donas Coffee Cafe. I've been Craig Mason, director, writer,
producer. Sure. Yeah, that has been also in that episode three
recap of the last of us, Craig Mason edition. I've been
executive producer, writer and star. Oh, no, I didn't. Oh,
yes, star, Craig Mason. I am writer, executive producer, writer, and star. Oh no, I didn't, oh yes star, Craig Mason.
I am writer, executive producer of 89 Coffee Cafe
and share noble to Craig Mason.
Hey Craig, Craig.
Been to I Hub?
