This podcast is brought to you by the Glen Ridge graduation party.
Antidon are coming to a bunch of cities performing a sketch show with a dance party.
And here's some exciting news. We're bringing Glen Ridge secondary college, the original show,
to Hobart and Lawn System. There won't be a dance party
with that show but there will be seating. So you win some, you lose some. Anyway, my name is
Zachary Ruayne. I'm a member of Antidona and I can't wait for you to come along to the live show
in just over a month. Head to antidona.com to buy tickets to the to our play. Godfuck you, Stomoy, I touch. Fuck you. Fuck you.
Fuck you.
Whoa.
Fuck me.
Fuck you.
Whoa.
Why do I believe he's going?
Maybe.
I'm externalizing the internal pain.
I feel every day.
Why hello there.
Welcome to the A.D. podcast.
That's the anti-Dana podcast.
I'm your host, writer Craig Mason.
And we have with us today two of the most exciting writers
working on the scene today, these of course are the
people responsible for the hit web series Antidana's Glen Ridge Secondary College. I have with
me in the room writer and entrepreneur Craig Mason.
Hi, how are you? Thanks so much for having me, Craig Mason.
You're very welcome, Craig Mason. And of course, on the other side of me to my left, I have writer,
director and dancer Craig Mason.
Good morning Craig. Great to be here to be talking about the show we've created together just a pronunciation. No, third's Craig.
Craig. Craig Mason. Craig.
We have Craig Mason here. Craig. Well, just in America, we say Craig. Right.
We don't say Craig. See, I was going to ask if you're a Canadian because I know that,
in case you were a Canadian and I said, are you American that sometimes Canadians can get a
little shirty about that? Well, Craig, I know you're American, so you would probably be able to
identify the subtle difference between an American and a Canadian accent.
But I'm Canadian. So take it.
Oh, okay. I take it from so sorry.
Oh, yeah.
I take it from so sorry.
Oh, yeah.
I take it from so sorry.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, I'm actually Canadian.
Okay.
So I'm Craig Mason.
Craig Mason.
I was born in Brooklyn, New York.
Right.
But you're from Canada, Craig Mason.
I'm from Canada.
Craig Mason.
Craig Mason. I'm from Canada. I get my syrup from trays. Of course, my name is Craig
Mason. I was born in Brooklyn and I wrote Hangover Part 2 and 3. Yeah, and obviously I'm
Craig Mason. I'm one of the producers and writers of Glen Ridge Secondary College, the
Andy Donner Project, currently on HBO. Now, there's a lot of questions about the
anti-donna, Glen Ridge Secondary College project
that I have written down here on my legal pad.
I can see you're holding it.
You can see me holding my legal pad.
It's the same sort of pad that George Lucas
wrote all of the Star Wars on.
OK.
You really struggling with the R's there, I'm actually. Okay. You really struggling with the ours there, I'm actually.
No.
I better not dig the hole that I, too, will be buried in.
So I might shut up.
I was really exciting series that I wrote on Glen Ridge,
just finished up and this is the recap podcast
for all the Geekas Oids out there who love
and want to talk a bit more about that show.
I find that with anything that you write, Krug, and Craig.
Craig.
Craig.
Craig and Craig.
Craig.
Not Krug.
Not Krug and not Crack.
I go by Krug, that's more of a nickname.
Well, do you mind if I call you Krug?
Yeah, absolutely, that's fine.
Yeah, yeah. So just for to recap, I'm Craig, rog? Yeah, absolutely, that's fine. Yeah, yeah.
So just for to recap, I'm Craig, your Kreg,
and that's Krog.
But we're all Kreg.
We're all Kreg, maize, and the writer producer
of Lender and Secondary College.
Now is the Kreg episode.
Eppersode.
Kreg.
Kreg.
Kreg.
I think we need to be really careful with that one, bro.
Kreg. I mean, Kreg, really careful with that one, bro.
I mean, Craig, anything that you guys write, obviously,
brings in those, as you mentioned, the Geekasites,
the super fans, the people that become
obsessive with your material.
I don't think there's anything, it's akin to Dungeons and Dragons,
in the sense that once you become
once you become part of the world.
You don't want to go back to your crappy life
and your hot dog.
Sure, sure, sure.
You just want to be immersed.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
That's what I felt.
Yeah, sure, that's how I felt.
That's how I felt.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
That's how I felt.
Now there's how I felt. That's how I felt. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's how I felt. Now there's a particular episode.
Yeah, that particular episode.
Eprosod.
Sure.
That brought up quite a lot for me in my life,
being a boy, school, sure.
Was the ball games at lunch? All right, cool. Okay, cool. Are we talking about that? Okay, sure. Sure. Was the ball games at lunch?
All right. Yeah. Okay, cool. Okay, cool.
Are we gonna talk about that? Okay, cool.
Yeah, I'd love to talk. Is that cool?
Sure. Oh, you want to talk about that?
I'd love to talk about that.
Okay, cool. Craig.
Would you like to start?
Or I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm,
that's an important part of the series.
Okay, sure.
That's an important part of the series.
Sure. Because that's the first time that we see these characters,
Mark Broden and Zach beautifully played by Zach Mark
and particularly Broden.
They decide in that moment,
that which way the series is going to go.
It's not a, before that point,
it's just a couple of guys at a school doing sketch comedy.
But in that episode, it's very important for me,
writing it, and I don't know if this is the same with you, Craig.
But, there's a me, writing it. And I don't know if this is the same with you, Craig.
But, there's a real, there's a real point there
where they decide this is about something more.
And I wanted that to be clear to our audience.
Well, I mean, so I don't wanna speak for you, Craig,
but I certainly start from a,
I'm so sorry, Craig.
I certainly start from a place of research.
When I first found out that they play a game called four square in with balls.
With balls in Australia. Sure, sure. I knew in that moment that that was sort of going to be the
turning point episode. Yeah, I knew there that that was the app that we had to sort of
ring in, you know, and we were looking for something,
I would say for months, we really didn't know
what that app would look like.
Well, that's important to say as well,
because the writing room was not just you and me Craig,
but it was actually 48 different Craig Maisons.
And in that room, we were sitting there looking at the wall.
And we were trying to find that MacGuffin, that pot of gold.
Are you familiar with MacGuffin?
I've had one before from McDonald's.
No, no, no.
That is a MacGuffin.
That's a breakfast treat from McDonald's.
Right, so that makes so much sense to me.
Because when my lecturer at university, writing in college. You went to UCLA? Well, I went to university in Canada. Okay. Oh sure.
We call it university there. We get our syrup from trees. And how do you say about a boot?
Great. It's kind of like a boot. If you have a pair of shoes that don't have any laces, yeah.
What would you call that? I'd call it a boot. I'd call call it a laceless. What do you mean? That's a boot?
It's a boot what oh, that's great. You're see what I've done there a boot a boot yeah, or now
When I'm Craig Mason and I'm producer writer of the project. I'm Craig Mason
I'm just a journalist. So I'm Craig Mason. I was a showrunner. I was the showrunner producer and writer on the project
But you can call me project.
You can call me Peter Heller.
What, I don't know who that is.
No, I've never heard of that shit.
Anyway, I make a lot of sense that a McGuffin
is a sort of writing,
well not a technique, but a part of a writing.
What would you say?
So let me put it this way.
A tool.
A writing tool, as opposed to an English muffin,
with a variety of.
Simple sausage, sausage, eggs, bacon, egg and breakfast,
and any sort of combination of those ingredients.
They usually come with a hash brown and a cup of coffee.
Right, yeah, you get a little deal.
And that is the B line.
So the coffee is the B line.
Does that make sense?
When I wake up in the morning,
I'm very simple guy, Craig Mason.
I wake up, I'll have a bagel, cream cheese,
cup of coffee.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Sure.
And for lunch, I'll have some cement,
some some symbol like a smoked salmon
on a with a lockson bagel.
Yeah, I'm like a bagel.
Maybe a cup of coffee.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
And then for dinner, I'm going out and I'm getting some symbol like maybe a ramen.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Maybe a ramen cup coffee.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
And then you're going into Manhattan for the ramen?
Gone into Manhattan, but there's some good places in Brooklyn, Williamsburg, but then
maybe cup of coffee and then swing by a member of Diner and get it,
give me a slice of cheesecake and a cup of coffee.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
When I lived in a loft, I lived in a loft.
You lived in a loft?
I lived in a loft.
Oh, you lived in a loft?
For a couple of, you lived in a loft?
Yeah, I lived in a loft.
Okay, cool.
In Manhattan?
In Manhattan, I was living in a loft.
And, you know, some control.
It was rent controlled by a man called Craig Mason.
Oh, yeah, there's my own Lord.
Oh, you live in your house on my Craig Mason?
Yeah, okay, cool.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, Craig.
And so I would, you know, every day I would get up,
I'd, you know, I would skip breakfast.
And I would, I would, I would skip.
It's important to have your breakfast.
Yeah, I would skip breakfast. I would go straight to lunch. I'd go to get to. You go important to have you breakfast. Yeah, I would skip breakfast
I would go straight to lunch. I'd go to straight straight to your brakes second straight to my brakes second
I'd go straight to cats his daily and get me
So you have a hot dog for lunch. I love a you know like I get like a seltzer
Seltzer yeah, yeah, yeah, you get like a celery seltzer
and you know, just a, yeah, hot dog.
Okay, cool, because yeah,
so I'm making them in the morning.
If I'm not having a egg mink muffin,
I'm getting like a...
Or a mink muffin.
Or a mink muffin.
I'm having maybe a bit of pizato,
some oatmeal, maybe a cup of coffee.
What about, how do you feel about a slice?
A slice of cantaloupe.
No, no, a slice of cantaloupe.
Yeah, yeah. No, a's a cantaloupe. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, a turning point, but then also very important in the journey of these characters. Yeah, it is.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, you agree with me?
Yeah.
Yeah, cool.
Okay, cool.
Sure, sure, sure.
If you episode called,
How to be cool.
How to be cool.
And that episode's important to show the strength
of some of these characters.
They're not just workers, they are,
they're not just students, they are people in this world.
And this happened to them.
Yeah.
Yeah, well, this isn't some other world, this isn't ours.
No.
This is, this happened in real life.
I mean, I didn't see one character called
John Codder in your whole show.
What?
What?
You said this isn't Mars.
Okay. And one made me go, okay, I know this
isn't Mars intellectually. You're talking about the Martian. I'm talking about the
Junk Carter from Mars. Okay, cool. John Carter. Sure. Sure. I didn't realize. Oh, you're
talking about the Martian. Okay, cool. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. First, I
didn't know your top codder. No, no, no. You're thinking of a codder from Welcome Back
Codder. So, which I wrote on. So did you? Yeah, I'm Craig Mason. I wrote on so did you yeah I'm Craig Mason I wrote on welcome back Carter I'm Craig Mason I I hope this podcast I'm Craig Mason so I guess the real point is
when you go into a McDonald's okay what is the thing you want at breakfast I'm a
dance from going you know sometimes I like to start in the morning with a latte.
Yeah, but say what you can get a lot of some bagel of McDonald's now.
Oh, you can?
Oh, yeah, I'm pretty sure they do.
Oh, you can, okay, cool.
Oh, yeah.
Say you wanted a McMuffin, and that is what you wanted.
Sure.
But the staff, McDonald's, didn't want you to have that McMuffin.
Sure.
The journey you go on to get that McMuffin.
Is it McMuffin?
The McMuffin, a McMuffin.
I'm a McMuffin, yeah, I'm sorry,
I endgains there a little bit.
You did, I did.
I did.
McMuffin, McMuffin.
McMuffin, McMuffin.
Sure.
Your McMuffin can be a McMuffin.
It can be a McMuffin and maybe that's the Sure. You're McGuffin can be a McMuffin.
And maybe that's the point that my lecturer was trying to me.
So not all McGuffins are McMuffins,
but all McMuffins are McGuffins.
Can I say something to you?
If I go to IHAW, international has pancakes,
and I get maybe.
Well, now they're IHAW.
That was just a probe.
Okay, you know, like, that is the for clarity.
So, there's the news who are overseas, maybe not in America.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
There's the, the, the diner chain international house of pancakes.
Yeah, yeah, don't just do pancakes.
No, they do, lots of different things.
And so for a one month, they made their promotion.
Yeah, IHAB.
IHAB, they made their promotion. Yeah. I hop.
I hop.
International House of Burgers.
And for that entire month, every tweet they did
had a follow up tweet going, just so you know,
we're still doing pancake.
Yeah, which was exactly like when in and out burger
changed a name to in and pancake.
Burger.
In and pancake burger. Yeah. In and Pancake.
Burger. Yeah.
They were placed out with pancakes. Yeah, just to show everyone that they too could do pancakes
if they wanted. That's beside the point. Let's talk about the series.
Okay.
I'm Craig Mason.
I just want to say that I go to I hop, I'll get maybe sausage, some scrambled egg,
maybe just pot of coffee, cup of coffee.
And that will cost you like $8 plus tip.
How much are you tipping?
I'm tipping 20% percent.
Yeah.
I like to tip about 20%.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's a good rule.
Yeah.
Because a lot of people say there's Craig Mason,
he wrote Chernobyl, he wrote
the Glenley St. Reed College podcast.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I College podcast. Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, I know him.
And if he, if I took him, I know him.
Oh, no, I know you.
I know you.
I know you.
I know you.
I know you.
I know you.
I know you.
I know you.
I know you.
I know you.
I know you.
I know you.
I know you.
I know you.
I know you.
I know you. I know you. I know you. I know LA. Sure. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, this is in LA.
So when I fly from New York to LA, I gotta get ready because people know who I am.
Sure.
So one day I'm sitting there and having a waffle maybe he's brought some, if you buries,
pancakes, cup of coffee.
Cup of coffee, cup of coffee.
Yeah, maybe a piece of toast.
And I, you haven't, you haven't creamed that coffee?
Yeah.
Yeah.
I haven't been to cream, maybe just half and half. Yeah. Half and half. You have an cream of that coffee?
Yeah. I've been a cream, maybe just half and half.
Yeah.
Half and half, so.
Half, half, coffee, half cream.
No, no, no, you know, half and half.
I know that you can take something and divide it into halves.
No, no, no, no.
You don't have half and half.
You don't have half and half here?
I have, you know, like I have the half of an apple and half of a banana.
No, no, no, no, no, half and half is a drink.
It's like a little, like half water,
half cold, you know, creamer.
I know, I know creamer.
Yeah, I know creamer.
I know creamer.
It's like a creamer.
Yeah, creamer, George, you know, mistel, Jerry.
No, no, no, no, those are the characters from Seinfeld.
Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld sit calm from the 90s
Okay, Larry wrote that show Larry wrote that we know Larry that show I'll go to LA
You know and I'll be at an eye hop. I'll be having a waffle
And I'll see Larry across the way and I'll say Larry
What are you doing and Larry will come over to me and we'll talk I mean that is how
and Larry will come over to me and we'll talk. I mean, that is how Los Angeles is all about.
It's the story.
It's the story that's happened to me.
So firstly, half and half is equal parts,
whole milk, equal parts, light cream.
Wow, yeah, right.
That's half and half.
Yeah, you're getting less cholesterol,
right, with your morning coffee.
Yeah, yeah.
Anyway, so I'm sitting there.
I'm having a waffle and having a cup of coffee,
maybe some toast, maybe a bit of a streaky bait.
You put half and half in that coffee?
A little bit of half.
If I feel like a bit of a, you know, primer.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Oh, you used a bit of half and half.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Anyway, I'm sitting there.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I think he's just gonna, he's listening.
Yeah.
Anyway, I'm sitting there. It's called the active listening. It's how the particles you make this. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, and you're not from the US. A waffle is sort of like a pancake, but you put it into a waffle iron,
so it's like a ridgy dig, a ridgy pancake.
It's kind of like a crispy sandwich,
but sweeter without the filling.
Yeah, and you can make it a sandwich.
Sure.
So people have waffles, waffle sandwiches
with fried chicken in the middle.
Sure, right, yes.
But that's really, I mean, not in LA.
Not in LA, not in LA.
Everyone is.
That's maybe middle America, they're doing a bit of it.
Yeah, everyone is slim.
Even the directors are slim in LA.
Anyway, so I'm sitting at this place.
I'm in waffle.
I maybe got a soda.
Yeah.
I look up.
Yeah.
Well, you have an a doctor pepper.
Maybe a doctor pepper.
Remember, like Dr. Pack, Dr. Perry,
cherry, maybe pepper, mr. Pippa. So you got a coffee, a soda, Adoptor Pepper. Maybe a Doc Pepper. Remember like Dr. Pack, Doc Pepper. Cherry, maybe Pimster Pepper.
So you got a Gaffy, Asoda, and your waffle.
That's a lot of liquids.
You got a lot of liquids.
Yeah, I guess they hydrated.
Yeah, I think I was going to.
Yeah, and that hot LA sun, you know,
it's in the desert.
It is in the desert.
We know later that day, you know, I had a spin class.
So I had to, you know, keep those, those,
those who it's up.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I'm going to spin class.
Who is going to spin class?
Because I guarantee, I guarantee there's gotta be someone from the industry in even that spin class. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, You won't believe who's eating breakfast at the same diner as me get out Bobcat Bobcat Bobcat Bobcat Bobcat Bobcat Bobcat

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
But I'm just an LA, I'm in a PF Changs.
Yeah, you know it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
You're having to maybe some vegan food.
No, no, absolutely not, no, I'm having beef.
No, maybe a cup of coffee.
But if you wanted, you could.
Sure.
Yeah, sure, sure, yeah, yeah, yeah, sure.
Well, we just know when we go to PF Changs,
we know what we're getting.
Right, right.
That's why you go.
That's why I go.
I mean, it's good matter why you go.
Well, some places you go in there,
you look at the food raining, it's gotta see.
And you go, okay, there's some problems here.
Yeah, you know, look at the door you see a B,
you're like, it's probably okay, but I'm not too short.
You look at the door you see an A, you're going,
okay, I'm gonna be safe here.
Here's the thing.
C, D, it gets worse as it goes down.
The higher the rating.
The higher the rating.
The less chance you're gonna get food.
And that's just the thing.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, but here's the thing, right?
You could go to Mission Chinese.
Sure, sure, yeah.
And I have to have them.
I have them stoned, you know, Curtis Stone. Oh yeah, that Aussie. I have him. I have him. I have him.
I have him.
I have him.
I have him.
I have him.
I have him.
I have him.
I have him.
I have him.
I have him.
I have him.
I have him.
I have him.
I have him.
I have him.
I have him.
I have him.
I have him.
I have him.
I have him.
I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have him. I have getting. Yeah, you want that general, Sal chicken. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Get some of that, maybe a cup of coffee.
Yeah, yeah, bagel, soda, lots of bagel.
Gotta get an egg roll.
Salary tonic.
Gotta, gotta get an egg roll.
And, uh, what the, gotta get an egg roll.
Anyway, so that was important to me, writing this show.
Writing this show, is that there was truth there.
Yeah.
That came through for me in the ball game.
The ball game.
What'd you get at PF Changs?
Oh, I just got basically a fried rice.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Maybe a bagel.
Did you get an egg roll?
Maybe if you egg roll, you got to get the egg roll.
You got to get a couple of coffee.
You got to get the egg roll.
You know, when we go there and I take the kids there,
when I'm taking the kids to PF Changs, we might just start with some tempura calamari. You know, when we go there and I take the kids there, when I'm taking the kids to P.F. Changs,
we might just start with some tempura calamari.
You bring your kids to LA?
Yeah, oh, sure.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And, yeah, I mean, if you're going to LA,
bring your kids to Disneyland.
You know, it's just down the road.
I'm gonna, if I'm going to P.F. Changs,
I'm probably gonna have some dynamite shrimp.
Yeah.
You know, maybe some Rick's northern style spare ribs.
You know who I saw last time I was at PF Changs.
Who?
Who's in Anaheim.
I was taking the kids to Disney Land.
Yeah, sure.
So John August.
John August.
I saw John August.
You saw John August at PF Changs?
John August.
And I said, John, what are you doing here?
And he said, I'm here for the writer's guild meeting.
Of course.
And I was like, I'll see you there, John Oh John August you wrote you wrote big fish you wrote Charlie
Chaff factory you wrote uh you wrote recently the Aladdin. He writes with that uh we're
gonna love a lad. Yeah yeah yeah yeah John on yeah. Oh you saw him there. Yeah. How was he?
was he good? He was good. I mean the the mating was pretty intense this is during the
strike. So he was like he was a little bit in
Sure, sure. We're all a little bit. Oh, he wrote a John Charlie's Angels. Yeah. Oh, and you made him during the strike?
Yeah, so we were like, okay, we're not writing may as well go to Disneyland. Yeah
I'm getting kung-pow chicken. I'm getting some Chang spicy chicken. You know, maybe some beef all the Sichuan
Oh, wow, you know, the house general you getting some Cheung spicy chicken, you know, maybe some beef alacish wine. Oh wow. You know, general, general, general,
you're getting some of that general.
No, I'm talking about when I go to PF Chang.
Right, we get to PF Chang.
You know, PF Chang?
Yeah, I know PF Chang.
It's a chain.
Yeah, I eat there all the time.
I know it's a chain.
So for anyone listening, PF Chang is a chain.
It's a motor like Chinese.
I wouldn't say McDonald's,
because it's a little higher in than that.
It's more like a cheesecake factory for Chinese food.
Yeah, so they do Chinese food.
So what they do, they take Chinese food,
and they bring it here.
So it's authentic Chinese dishes.
You can get it anywhere.
You can get it in the Midwest.
You can get it in Texas.
But that's my first place.
I'm going chain, because I know what I'm getting there.
I'm gonna go out back steakhouse.
I know what I'm getting there.
Yeah, you're gonna get in some Aussie go out back steakhouse. Yeah, I know what I'm getting. Yeah, yeah, you're gonna get in some Aussie fair
Outback steak what's my friend went there to him up to Sydney and your
What did he say what did they have to say about Australia? They said they don't have out back steak house. No, they don't
That's what I heard I tell you that's I heard. I was working on a project in Melbourne.
Oh yeah, you were working on the project.
And I was staying, no, not on the project.
Yeah, I was working on our project.
Yeah.
And I was staying out in the Doc lands.
Yeah, right, that's right.
Sure, yeah.
And with that, uh, Carrie Bickmore.
I don't know Carrie.
Right, okay, sure.
I don't know Carrie Bickmore.
Yeah, sure, sure.
I don't know her.
Yep. Okay, what know her. Yep. Oh
What? Yep. Have you seen that new video? What did the Fox say so funny so funny?
We got it my niece showed me that the other day. Yeah, and I was cackling up like like a regular jukebox
I say I got I gotta say those guys gotta come to LA. They gotta do some videos
I'm the LA and they got to meet with some people guys some meetings. They gotta come to LA and they gotta meet with some people.
Guys, when I go in the Outback stay house
and get some Aussie firm,
gonna get some like a classic bacon cheeseburger.
Okay.
It's going through the menu here.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, maybe a chicken Swiss sandwich.
Yeah, yeah, that's a chicken sandwich with Swiss cheese.
You can also get like, you can get a pasta.
Okay, you can get pasta at, like a no pasta.
Yeah, you can get pasta.
Yeah, pasta.
Yeah, you can go and get a pasta with your pasta.
But they do the no rules pasta there,
which is what I love.
You can go to savory feta chiniol frago.
Yeah, with your choice of chicken or prawn.
Yeah, yeah, seasonal vegetables. You know what else or prawn. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, chicken
And if you really feeling like the meat, but then you go to our bees Craig
You need to calm down. Yeah, dude. I just like okay, so this is like my podcast
Yeah, and and I want to take it into the direction that I want to take it in
Yeah, and I want to talk about the menu from Outback's daycash.
You want to talk about that?
Well, I'm getting the Blooming onions.
No, you don't have to swear on this podcast.
Okay.
See, no, the onion is like a blooming onion.
It's a thing.
Well, it's an Aussie term.
It's an Aussie term.
Oh, that's an Aussie term?
It's an Aussie term.
Yeah. Okay, cool. So, they have where I grew up, that's an Aussie term. Oh, that's an Aussie term? Yeah.
Okay, cool.
Where I grew up, if you said blooming,
that was like, you know, calling someone a cunt face.
Do they have the calories?
It's first, it's good to say-
They have the calories on that menu you're reading.
Oh, sorry, the music's still there.
That's okay.
Do they have, I'll check,
you wanna know if they have the calorie count?
I wanna know the calories on a blue man onion. Sure. Okay, I don't know if they have, I'll check, you wanna know if they have the calorie count? I wanna know the calories on a blue man onion.
Sure.
Okay, I don't know if they have that here.
If you could even Google calories, blue man onion.
Out that same calories.
I think you'll get a surprise and I don't think if you wanna be a slim showrunner, you
probably shouldn't be eaten that word onions.
Okay, sure. So, um, so your basic blooming onions from Outback Steakhouse has, uh, just
under 2000 calories. My God. Wow. That's not that bad. That's not that bad. But it is almost,
it's lots. It's actually not that bad. That's a whole man's, that's an entire, that's
a whole, that's a whole man's, that's a thing. That's actually not that bad, but it's quite a lot. That's a whole man's, that's an entire, that's a whole, that's a whole man's,
that's a daily, that's actually not that bad.
It's not that bad, but it's quite a lot.
It's for sharing, really.
So if a blue man onion is not meant to be eaten by one,
but not by one thin showrunner.
No, so it's, if you put in kilojoules,
it's about a thousand kilojoules more
than your recommended daily intake in one run.
But that's actually not that bad.
That's not that bad if you share it.
And that's if you're hitting that spin cycle.
Yeah, so during a spin cycle you have some blooming onions,
you shit water and blood for a week.
Yeah, and then you're good.
I was doing a spin class.
But you're doing a spin class?
Downtown LA and we're working on a bicycle.
Yeah, get on a bicycle. We're working on a bicycle. Yeah, get on a bicycle
We're working on our instructor. How did you get how did you get to that spin class? I got that spin class on bike
Oh, yeah, I get new bird of mine you get nobody yours. I like valet valet
Yeah, I like to bike to my spin class so that then I'm warmed up for the spin class and
I look up and and you know who I see in the spin class?
Anthony Russo.
Anthony Russo.
Anthony Russo is their brother.
Is he one of the Russo brothers?
One of the Russo brothers,
Ed is running the spin class.
I was writing on some of the sitcoms
doing some uncredited work on some of the sitcoms.
Yeah.
Oh, you were working on credit it?
That those boys, boys were working on that.
Oh, you were doing that?
You were working on credit it?
Oh, yeah.
You were working on our show.
Yeah.
You were doing credit, you were doing it,
but you weren't being credited.
Yeah, it wasn't being credited.
Okay, cool.
Okay, cool, yeah.
And I said, I said those boys, they got a future.
Hey, guys, it's time to cut to our sponsor for today.
At Outback, big Australia is back.
So for limited time, your favorites are getting even bigger.
18-year center cut, sirloin kinda big.
Aussie Bloom big.
Boomerang beer flights big.
Six layer chocolate cake,
an ultimate great barrier combo big. Our biggest on-traise ever. So that's an awesome deals there at the outback.
A lot of food.
A lot of food for that.
Not a lot of money.
Not that bad. It's not that bad. So I was at, I was, I was just going for a run up
near the observatory. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, you're going for a jog. Going for a little jog.
You would go to a restaurant. You would go to a restaurant. You got to stay, uh, jogging
around that, uh, you were jogging around that observatory. Yeah, just up around the
observatory. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You're looking out that that
telescope. Well, no, I was just going for a job. You're looking
up at the stars, you're looking up at a new way. So no, I was
not trying to catch a glimpse of Venus. I was not in the
observatory. I was just going for a run around the observable maybe maybe seeing some of that
Space trash. Yeah, yeah, some space trash. Yeah, God you can see that you don't need a telescope to see that
Yeah, oh, yeah, okay cool. Yeah, okay
So I was doing that and guess who I saw who'd you see up there just going for a little walk
You see you see David Bowie spaceman. No, you see
Did you see David's bed? No, you see the cast of a polo 11? No, I sky no, you see
You see one of the runners
Like a shoulder runner. Yes, but that's just what I'm talking about. I'm not talking about Josh Weedon
I did see him because I was running with him.
Yeah, sure.
But that is not who I saw.
You see Kevin Smith, you see that silent Bob?
No.
You see that silent Bob up at the observatory?
No, I did not.
You see some of the, maybe the co-embrothers.
No.
I'll tell you who I saw.
You see up there.
I saw Michael Eisner.
Oh, Michael Eisner.
I saw Michael. I said, hey, Michael Eisner. I saw Michael.
I said, hey, Michael.
Yeah.
So he was the CEO when I was writing at ABC.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
He was when I was writing at ABC.
Yeah, guy, the guy from Disney.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So when I was at ABC, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
He was the CEO of Disney.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Sorry. Craig's just having a
epileptic fit. I just had a small epileptic
If you eat blooming onions over five times a week, yeah, you do start to have epileptic fits
Yeah, and and shits that are as wet as any tap water. It's time for our commercial. Yeah
A nice one dad works late. We'll treat ourselves a bit at all of gardens Breadsticks. It's a for our commercial. Yeah. A night's when dad works late. We'll treat ourselves a bit. At Olive Garden. Mmm, breadsticks. It's a chance for us to catch up. So is

Grilled marinated chicken breasts with our tomato Alfredo sauce. Or new steak
crustata. Grilled steak medallions with a 4 cheese sauce. Both with crispy
assiago cheese crustata is and unlimited salad and breadsticks.
So is this serious? Yeah. This is seriously good. Oh,
out of garden when you're here. So Michael says to me. Yeah. He says, yeah,
are you still writing an ABC? And I'm not a juice said. No, I'm working on you said no,
because you weren't writing there anymore. Yeah. I said no.
I'm not writing there anymore.
I'm working on this Annie Donna project.
And he said, I'm here a lot of buzz about Annie Donna.
Oh Mike said that.
Yeah, he said they did that show at the LARGO.
Like the LARGO, yeah.
He said they did that show at the LARGO.
And I said, yeah.
So now I'm writing on that Annie Donna project.
He said that for TV or online. I said, yeah, it's project. He said that for for TV or online. Yeah, it's
fun. You say that I was last time. Sorry. We got it. We got a commercial.
A Miami Cuban with slow roasted pork loin.
Slowly smoked brisket with smoky barbecue sauce.
And a New York Rubin with Krauton corned beef. You could
travel across the country to try these three legendary sandwiches, but apparently you can't
bring your therapy peacock on a plane. So just come to Arby's. Arby's we have the meat So I'm going for a jog
I'm seeing a movie at the Chinese theater on ground. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Coming out of there you're going to ground. I'm going to grow man seeing a movie at the Chinese theater I think I was seeing

So, uh, thank you so much for joining me with our two writers, uh,
Krag,
Krag, Krag and myself Craig.
Thank you, Craig.
Pleasure to be here.
I hope you enjoyed the Glenridge series.
It was such an amazing series and it was such a great chat to really get in depth about what it is that makes you take
and how a concept can turn into something, you know,
really quite beautiful and fluid and finished, you know,
because a lot of people say fluid because that's what
my shits are
after eating at Olive Garden.
Oh yeah.
Your shits get liquidy after you eat at Olive Garden?
Sure, cool.
It's funny.
It might get quite hard like a pine cone.
Oh yours get hard?
Might get hard.
Okay, cool.
I got one more question before we wrap it up.
Yeah.
I was just wondering,
do you ever get a,
get,
so basically, now you're a show runner,
yeah, you're a journalist.
Yeah.
My question is,
do you ever get the savory
at cheesecake factory?
Oh, sure.
Sure.
Yeah, one time I got a bow tie Alfredo
some sun-dried tomatoes. Oh, nice. Yeah. And I I make out a bow tie Alfredo. Yeah, some dried tomatoes. Oh, oh
And I had that with a cup of coffee. Yeah, and then maybe a slice of
Cheesecake. I'll have a I'll have a chicken cup sure. You know, I'll have that cob. Yeah
That cob salad. Yeah
You know what I mean when I say cob., you got a space slim. I got a I'm gonna have my self slice a Mars cheesecake maybe devil foods you got a
St. Slim I
Yeah, legitimately
Even cheesecake
Yeah, I know we went together in Anna-Hine sure sure sure sure I got a pasta when I was in anaheim yes, so did I and I was like I'm not in the mood I can't remember
Yeah, I'm not in the mood for something to creamy. So you got remembering with like a regu on top
I can't remember okay cool. It would have been something chicken. You're having a regu
Yeah, so I some kind of chicken. I'm having a cup. If I can salad, explain it.
I got something with a regu on top
because I didn't want something to creamy.
Yeah.
And what this dish was was they took the pasta.
Yeah.
They put it mixed through a creamy sauce.
Yeah.
Like a lot of creamy sauce.
Yeah.
And then they added the regu on top of that. Right, you get a big bowl of cream. Well, there was a lot of cream. Yeah. And then they added the regute on top of that.
Right.
You getting a big bowl of cream?
Well, there was a lot of cream.
Yeah.
And I got to stay slim, even the showrunners.
You got to stay slim.
You got to stay slim.
The showrunners.
You see Zach Snyder?
We got to leave.
We got to stop.
Thank you so much.
Sure.
I'm so sorry.

that I completely forget where we started.
