Okay, now Tom, we're getting this in a new episode now, so we need some like action-war music, okay? So he's being dropped right into a battle. Ready? Yep, yeah. Right in... Quick, grab the gun! Run with me, there's no time! D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D What's happening? What's happening? Shoot the Googlows. I'm a blue blue. Oh, baby!
Starting point is 00:00:27 Ah! Now, quick, get your sword. Ah, shhh. Yeah, well done. Now slice the scroat. I'm the scroat. I'm... Yeah! Yeah!
Starting point is 00:00:42 Wow, you're really good. Hey, my name's Lance Corporal Who... And I'm here to help you get through the game. Lance Corporal, Poo, you're one of my... Poo, I thought it was Poo, but I must've been pronouncing it wrong this whole time. Lance Corporal, Poo, you'll... Um...
Starting point is 00:01:02 Where's the Poo-a-Poo? Poo-a-Poo? It's a Poo. Where's the purple? It's purple. It's purple. Let's purple, speak. Let's purple. Purple, but is it purple? I said, I said, pool. All right, let's purple, pool.
Starting point is 00:01:19 Pool. It's sort of with no help. Imagine you're going to say, pool. Yeah. But don't, there's Noel. Thank you for the dings, sorry. I just had a thought. Do I need to do like a little intro narration for this?
Starting point is 00:01:32 Because we kind of jumped in, or is that? I think it's fun that we just jumped straight in. I just wanted to check. But movies do that sometimes they do like, maybe this is the end of the episode. Ah, okay. No, no, look, this is the top. I was wrong with the narration thing.
Starting point is 00:01:46 I think if people know to listen to last weeks, you know, they'll listen to last weeks, yeah. Come to Mark, you're about to go on an incredible quest, not an incredible crest. An incredible crest. An incredible crest. Sgt. Lieutenant Poole. I know. No, I am an incredible Chris. Sgt. Lieutenant Poole, I am not from your world. I don't you see what's happened? Yeah, I'm the Scrat.
Starting point is 00:02:17 And you didn't kill me. You didn't kill me. Yeah. And Tyler, I can't. Good job killing the scrawt. Thank you. I need you to... Wouldn't that good? No, who was the other character we killed in that battle? Uh, Gubla.
Starting point is 00:02:36 Gubla or something like that? Yeah. RAH! I'm the Gubla! Ah, only another strike, but please God, I'm not dead yet. All right, what I'm gonna do is kill Okay, man, it was so easy killing this Well, I've got a little red bar. I'm still alive. I'm gonna. Yeah, okay fair enough Okay, fair enough. Fick up. Fick up, I'll take that.
Starting point is 00:03:03 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Who are you yarring now? I'm just general yarring, just to make sure that they're in the scrots around. You have entered the game. We need you to conquer the magical kingdom taken over by the evil queen and king of this world who are also played by the actors who played your mother and father in the real world
Starting point is 00:03:27 It's like the Wizard of Oz And we're gonna cut to their scene. You know, you know how in those that makes sense Yeah, so it's just yeah, well, I just well Broughton's in confused, but you in the Wizard of Oz Yeah, we know man. No, Broughton I don't I remember now But he that was what he was pitching. Was that general vibe? And just to let you know, Mark, after this scene is over, we're going to cut to a wide shot of their layer. And then we're going to have that little scene,
Starting point is 00:03:56 you know, the scene where we set up how evil they truly are of the villains. But that's going to happen after this. But can I just throw in a recommendation for this scene? It's okay if you guys don't wanna take it, because I'm not in this scene. Okay, I'm not in this scene. Which scene? This one between Poole and you.
Starting point is 00:04:14 I just had a thought. Yeah, I thought it could be cool. I feel like you guys are still seeing El. It's Poole. It's Poole. It's Poole. It's very clear. It's say Poole, but don't say the L.
Starting point is 00:04:27 Poo. I like hands. Poo. So, what I'm going to recommend is just whatever you guys do, you can talk it through, you can color it in however you want. But there's a line along the lines from Mark saying, oh, I don't know if I can do that, I'm just a nerd. And then Sergeant Pugh, you say something like, don't worry, I'll be by your side every step of the way.
Starting point is 00:04:51 Then I am a scrot that you didn't entirely kill. That's what I was trying to do before. I come back, I kill Pugh, then you say, I die. Pugh, I die die and then it's like, oh no, I have to do this on my own. Yeah. Does that work? I think that would be a subtle idea. Could I suggest one small tweak? 100% you can suggest all you want.
Starting point is 00:05:13 Can I kill the scrub before he kills Poole? No, that won't work. That won't work. Does that change it? Then you have Poole to help you. Right. If Poole helps you, cool, we can work on that. We can kill him in a few things.
Starting point is 00:05:29 What if it's like a twist in I kill pool? No, stop it. Stop it. I'm just trying to sub the expectations here. I'm being a regular around you. Learn how to play within the structure before you start playing with the structure. Everyone wants to be Quentin Tarantino for their first short film, Mark.
Starting point is 00:05:48 But you know what? Quentin Tarantino understands structure. That's how he plays with it. Does that make sense? I like it. I guess if that's the movie we're making, then that's fine. I can get on board with that.
Starting point is 00:06:02 I'm not happy about it. I will be speaking to my solicitor, but that's completely fine. That's your right. It is my right. It is my right. Mark, we're going to... It's going to be hard to get to the castle to defeat the king and queen. But don't worry, I'll be by your side the whole time.
Starting point is 00:06:21 Ah, I'm a scrot. Bang, bang, bang bang bang bang bang Killed him then if you want to kick me in the balls maybe some reaction maybe some reaction from me. Yes, anything Just now you keep the ball just died. Oh No Hey, yeah, oh my balls and then I die Now if we can get all right, let's go I'm like, I'm a ball. I'm a ball. I'm a ball. I'm a ball. I'm a ball. I'm a ball. I'm a ball.
Starting point is 00:06:47 I'm a ball. I'm a ball. I'm a ball. I'm a ball. I'm a ball. I'm a ball. I'm a ball. I'm a ball.
Starting point is 00:06:55 I'm a ball. I'm a ball. I'm a ball. I'm a ball. I'm a ball. I'm a ball. I'm a ball. I'm a ball.
Starting point is 00:07:03 I'm a ball. I'm a ball. I'm a ball. I'm a ball. I'm like you're directing this a lot, Zach. I feel like I feel like, and it's fine. It's fine, but I feel like you've really taken over a little. Yeah. Yeah, it's like. I would agree. Yeah. And it's like, it's cool.
Starting point is 00:07:17 That's cool. I mean, I just, I thought we'd get some heat will say. You obviously have a very clear vision. I just, I really see this, I just I really see this man. I really see this story in my head. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And I just look, I would love to be in charge. If you can put me in charge just this one,
Starting point is 00:07:38 I'd really appreciate it. All right, that's totally fine. You do think it's for me. We also have some ideas. Yeah, that's the thing is like, is, is, is, You know how it's an improv? Mm. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:53 Yeah, it's like, and I'm happy to be given sort of, a few like beats that I have to hit. Yeah. But when I'm told exactly what to say and do in the scene and as it's happening, it just... What was happening for me, right? What's happening for me is I thought it'd impro through the story, but what's seeming to happen over and over is we stop the impro. We talk through what's about to happen. We take some direction. Then we
Starting point is 00:08:19 do it and then at some point you'll stop it and then tell us what to do next. Okay, so often in that you will also let me know what I've been doing wrong. Okay that's fair man. I'm not getting that. I'm not getting that. I'm not being troubled. Right so that's just a personal thing. Is I'm willing to iron that? I'm getting a little process focused and it's a little more results focus. Yeah. I'm willing to iron that guys. I'm willing to own that. He is my compromise because what happened when I wasn't doing that is Mark would come in very combative to every scene and kick people in the balls if you remember my podcast. So that would happen
Starting point is 00:08:56 and to the chicken and the egg thing I think chicken. Because I would argue from my point of view I would sort of let the scenes play out to a point and When and when in my head I went yeah, okay, so we've been talking about sort of the logistics Good five minutes. Yeah, and my it I was like I wonder if we could just you know slightly change gears Is this not specifically the Biffo and this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? Is this not? out had been a running away or something, but that's fine, I respect that. Right, right. You brought something good. Here's my compromise. Let me know if this is going to be a problem. We discuss the scene we're about to go into.
Starting point is 00:09:53 We just have a quick check in. What's the major sort of like beats of the scene? All right. That's not in pro, you understand. Yeah, yeah. Okay. This is more a curvy or enthusiasm structure now. Yes, absolutely.
Starting point is 00:10:07 We talk the beats. And if you don't like that, we don't have to do it. This is just what I'm proposing. This is my first proposal that we could negotiate. We discuss the scene, we lock it in, we decide what we're gonna do. Then we play within the scene, have some fun. You know, okay.
Starting point is 00:10:24 But if we do break away from what we've discussed, I do think there does need to be some sort of punishment. I can't just worry that if we don't, if there's not an incentive to stick to the plot, you know what's the point? Can I just, can I say one thing? I feel like, I feel like the character that we've been developing together, is the character of Mark. The main character of Mark.
Starting point is 00:10:55 Is that each time a scene tends to go on in the same analytical way for a bit too long, the way my character reacts is by kicking the people in the scene in the same analytical way for a bit too long. The way my character reacts is by kicking the people in the scene in the balls. Now that's exclusively been in-world. And I think it could be interesting to bring that character trait into the outside analytical world. So this conversation here? Potentially.
Starting point is 00:11:23 So like, we could move on by making both from this. Yeah. I'm happy to do that. I just want to make sure we're on the same page before that happens. Okay, great. Alright, well let's let's, do you want to just discuss the years? Because he's the thing like this is what I would say, right? It's going to be less in-world conversation. He's going to need to kick balls into conversation that he's gonna need to kick balls into, if we do this right. Because we're missing out on a lot of exciting video game stuff. Yeah, that was what we promised.
Starting point is 00:11:53 By spending time on this. But this is what I think, Mark, you know, it's working hard versus working smart. Yeah. Because, smart. Because we can give them a half an hour, right? Yeah. Of this sort of meandering conversation throughout the whole thing, we're a ball kick at the end, yeah, or we can have a, you know, boring five minute conversation before each two minute scene. Yeah, that's a little lame. Yeah, I mean, I had ideas, like, I've got ideas, man.
Starting point is 00:12:28 Yeah. I want to meet Sonic the Hedgehog and I want to, like, run into classic video game characters. Yeah, that's so funny. Maybe they helped me a little. I'm going to tell you guys, I have the best character coming up. It's like a... Golem meets a fun, you know, like sidekick, like what's the little vermin from Guardians? I'm rocket.
Starting point is 00:12:50 Rocket. Oh, good. Like a small sort of vermin character, there's going to be your help, who's going to be the one who helps you, but he's also more interested in money and... Are they sassy talking? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. He's got a New York accent. Oh, great.
Starting point is 00:13:02 And I've got to say, Mark, I'm really excited for this sort of scene that's coming up. That cliched, in a non-kids film, it would be there's hostages, and I kill them unnecessarily ruthlessly to demonstrate my own psycho. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So I'm really excited about that scene. The kind of scene that would happen five minutes my own, you know, psycho, you know. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So I'm really excited about that scene.
Starting point is 00:13:27 The kind of scene that would happen five minutes into a movie as opposed to 55 minutes into a podcast. Yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely. And what I'm proposing is a solution to that. So we have five minutes of boring conversation that an audience can skip. And then that two minutes is going to be so much fun. two minutes is gonna be so much fun. It's gonna be so much fun. What are the broad strokes?
Starting point is 00:13:50 It's gonna be, have you not even thought about them? No, well I know that I wanna start with like a wide shot of the castle. You know, that's the shot's help. Just let us know. It's a fun castle. Performatively what you need us to do. Oh, okay. Well, I course. Performatively what you need us to do. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:14:06 Well, I want this to be a group decision. Well, you did not. I don't think you do. No, I don't think you do. I do. I just need to know that when you're kicking us in the balls, it's with an understanding towards a plot motivation in the hero's journey. What a caravan.
Starting point is 00:14:23 If I'm confident that you understand the hero's journey when you'd make these choices. I would also, I don't want to fault him, aren't you? But we also, there's been no moment where you've decided where you've realized what's happening. You know what I mean? That's true, yeah, that needs to be done. It needs to be clear for the audience.
Starting point is 00:14:40 Does that need to happen before our scene, bro? Yeah, it needs to be all like, I don't know. It can happen after. It can happen after. I think it's interesting to let the audience try and figure it out for themselves. And then they discover it as the characters do. And I will say, because the two scenes
Starting point is 00:14:58 are cutting between each other, we can decide the order in the edit with this one. We can't, it's an improv one. Yeah, I'm broadcast. Yeah, I'm sorry, I do keep forgetting that. Okay, sorry, I'm a little lost here. Yeah, yeah. Oh, my God. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:22 Oh, my ball. My go. Oh my ball! Oh no, my best friend Sergeant Poole has been killed by the scrut. Poo. Sorry, sorry. No, come on. Sorry. Come on.
Starting point is 00:15:41 No, you pronounce it however you want. That's your choice. It's character building. Zip, nothing It's character building zip nothing from me. Okay Nothing from me. You're not gonna get any more Out of character stuff from me. Okay Mound doom is over there and Sonic the hedgehog is over there. Hello. Where am I? What's happened to me? Great great. Okay, is that good for you bro? Do you need more of him making a choice? I think it's done. I think the scene is done and it's fun
Starting point is 00:16:12 It's done. It's done. I think it's kind of a fucking castle We going back to the mark. Yeah, fuck up. Sorry. So we're going to the castle now mark Mark shak come on. No, we agreed, I just want to get a character! I just need to know what's gonna happen! Get a character! No! We're gonna fucking wing it! We're doing live!
Starting point is 00:16:32 We're doing live! Okay. We're doing live! And... Yeah. Fuck, we're doing live! And I'm not gonna have to play like a different character in this set. I have to turn my game down And I'm able to play a different character in this.
Starting point is 00:16:45 I have to turn my game down. I'm sorry Tom. Mark, yes, absolutely. I would love for you to play. Don't tell me what to do. I'll just come in with something. Hey, I just, it is important that's... Oh, yes.
Starting point is 00:16:58 Hello, King's Crow. Hello, Queen's Crow. Hello, Queen's Crow. Mmm, yes. What's this eye here that we lost the battle? Oh, that damn land-couple poo has got a new soldier in his ranks. He's better than anyone we've ever battled before. Oh, Very disappointing. But I heard what? Disappointed. Disappointed. Disappointed.
Starting point is 00:17:33 Like Hercules in that video, you know, the meme. Disappointed. Disappointed. Disappointed. I don't know the meme but that sounds disappointed No, you don't you know from the 90s Hercules the actor had staged direction or screen direction send act disappointed He disappointed, but he read it as That's very funny. Oh, and there's a shot of speaking Google it and he's like what's the actor? What's the actor's name? Who plays oh, I have seen that, sorry, I was thinking you were talking about the Hercules cartoon, I was like, the voice over us.
Starting point is 00:18:10 No, no, no. The actor goes, disappointed. That's, yes, I have seen that, that's very funny. Anyway, my plan is to throw everything we have out of this rogue and make sure he never greets the castle in time for the ball. Yes, yes, a very good idea indeed. For if he breaks into the castle during the ball, that would be very bad for us. But what's this? I just heard word that Colonel Poole is not dead, but rather was captured and now he's being brought to us as a hostage. So here he is.
Starting point is 00:18:51 So he's going to come in now. He's going to come in now. He's going to come to the middle of the room. Yes, I've been character. He's going to come to the middle of the room. Yes, I've been character, he's going to come to the middle of the room. He'll be brought by one of our soldiers. He could be funny. I'm not saying what the tone of the soldier is at all. King, King's crow, are you telling exactly what's about to happen? No, I've just said word from a messenger Word from a messenger. I feel like you're using a character to try to take control of the Navi. No, I just I heard word from a messenger that is going to come in and sit in the middle of the room
Starting point is 00:19:40 And maybe we'll set up that you know he's a hostage he'll say something about you know I'm a prisoner of war you can't kill me and then I'll but I think we decide that. Yeah yeah there's a bit I hear that's what all I've heard. Don't be that's just from a messenger. All right also heard from a messenger. I heard from a messenger that I will have a monologue. Why would a messenger tell you that? Sorry, it's me Mark, I've come in, I wasn't feeling the character. Sorry, can we just stay in scene? That's what you wanted.
Starting point is 00:20:23 I am in scene, saying, that's what you want. I am insane. I've walked in. I'm here. What's up? I've walked in, I'm here. I'm at all you've gotten in his fart and around. I've gone, I've done a whole hero's journey. No, you haven't. No, I've done too many fun characters to meet. You'll get to meet Sonic and
Starting point is 00:20:47 Grown and character that he's been working on I worked really hard. He worked really hard on the vermin I don't think I feel like it's not fair to say no. I am happy to go back and redo the heroes journey Please, but I have already done one. That's a great compromise. Oh go do a different one. All right. Can you just wait outside the door for a second? Fine, how you are My balls anyway King scroll bring in Lance corporate. How does this open? Sorry, how's this open? Oh, I can do it. You never use a door I thought it was like a weird video game door. I can't except it
Starting point is 00:21:28 Yes, does it hurt does a pull or push? I don't know Sorry, I don't want to get out, but I'm stuck at the door Sol just Steve help mark with the door. Oh Yes, very good Help her mark with the door. Oh yes, very good. I'll mark with the door. Oh, yes. I'll help you to think like shit.
Starting point is 00:21:50 Yes, you stick like shit. It's so easy. I'm the character that is the character represent. So I'm going to go after you later. It's fucking stink man. I'll just figure it out. Oh no, no, no, no. maybe you haven't done maybe you haven't done the journey yet But you've come here and you and then we beat you up and this journey is you learning to come back
Starting point is 00:22:13 You know what I mean? Yeah, I had an idea Maybe we could go with him with the sword Realize he's a hologram. He's not here yet. Yeah, you know, and then yeah, so yeah with the sword. Oh, he's a hologram, he's not here yet. You know, and then, yeah, so yeah, with the sword, he's not here yet. I'm a hologram. Yeah, he's not here yet. Can I be cooking an omelette? Yes.
Starting point is 00:22:38 Yeah, sure. Sick. So I'm gonna go off like a dark mollet. It's a good thing. Okay. You guys want anything in an omelette you guys Turn him off I'm gonna just leave let me go I will do it through dialogue you fuck. Yeah, you tell me what to do All right, what do I tell you to do?
Starting point is 00:23:00 No, it's up to you your choice. I'm not gonna so just Steve I want you to go and find that beardy little boy and bring him to me in 300 pieces. Special delivery, special delivery. Ah, a special delivery. Ah, a special delivery. I hope it's my delivery. It's not. No, it's just a little joke you would do.
Starting point is 00:23:29 Yeah, what do you mean? How about we wrap me up? I'm going to go get him, do a bit of a dothmal. I feel like I've got to be con see that it's... Is this relevant to me or should I get go? Uh, go. No, stay. I know I go. Is this relevant to me or should I get go? Go No stay I know I go okay. I'm off. I'm gonna go get him
Starting point is 00:23:52 How many pieces? 300 pieces That's why the game is called 300 pieces. Yeah, that's good. Yeah, you said the title Let's make that Tom. Can you make that the title? 300 pieces part two. Okay, off I go then. Not Zathuru. Not Zathuru. Bye bye. Okay, so the delivery now, I'll be back to King's Crow. Maybe I get the box and I open it but I don't know what I look to I look to the camera. Yeah yeah yeah yeah and it's glowing red inside the guy's thing. Alright let me see what's in this box. I hope it's my menu log. It's not.
