Starting point is 00:02:53 Welcome back to Bachelor Happy Hour's Golden Hour. Kathy and I are so excited to be back, and we want to thank you for joining us. Oh, boy, today, Susan, first of all, happy almost end of this year. Glad to see it go. But we're going to be doing a little 2025 reflection as we get for New Year's. And I don't know what your plans are, but I'm about to ask you. So if you don't have any, make them up real quick. What's you doing for New Year's? I'm going to continue traveling, that's for sure. I have a couple trips. Yes. Actually, I will be in St. Martin. And then in February, I'm flying St. Martin to California. And then you and I are going to join our friends, our Italian friends in California in February into March.
Starting point is 00:03:38 So basically, we can round your year out by lots of travel and especially for New Year's Eve in St. Martin. Now, don't you want to ask me? Please. I think you're coming with some of mine. For New Year's? No, what am I doing for New Year? Oh, New Year's. What are you doing?
Starting point is 00:03:50 Nothing. What? I guessed. Crickets. It's quiet. It's quiet. I don't mind that, though. I just have to tell you, when my husband was alive, I loved New Year's Eve because now that's where I can get through without crying, he would open a really nice bottle of champagne
Starting point is 00:04:09 and we would grill steaks and I left it. It was quiet. It wasn't, you know, we didn't get out on the road where all the idiots. Crasies. Yeah. Craisies were. So now I do similar. I sit home and open a bottle of wine. Okay. Do you watch it on? TV. I love watching the ball drop in New York. No? I love all the music. It's entertaining. Sometimes I watch Ryan. Sometimes I do. I watch. I do sometimes watch it. Kathy? I would be in New York time. You and I might be hosting that one day. I think big. Okay. If you and I are hosting New Year's Eve in Times Square, I will be there. That I'll guarantee. But I don't know. All right. So let's get
Starting point is 00:04:50 started here. We've got a few questions. We're going to talk about sort of our 2025. We're going to reflect back on the year and let me start I'll answer I'll ask the first question and we'll go from there okay yes let's do all right what word best describes 2025 for you and why the word is epic it was an amazing year met tons of new people I was awarded an award for an award for being an officiant of the year from yay susan congr yes it's been all of you who don't know susan just recently oh just a week or so ago a couple of weeks now won an award for a wedding officiant of the year so we're all our hats are off to you congrats it's really a big honor thank you thank you how about you cat my word for the year is engaged i thought i'd get a rise out of you
Starting point is 00:05:48 not as in ring on my hand engaged no i got but engaged i you know i said yes to many opportunities that came my way. I think for me, honestly, the biggest thing for me, and it's one of the other questions we're going to talk about, but let's mix it up and talk about it now. For me, one of the biggest, probably the biggest time's, biggest point of reference for me in 2025 was being on Paradise. And you probably can guess why. Do you want to hazard a guess or not?
Starting point is 00:06:21 Go ahead. Because it allowed me. Another experience. Well, it was, of course, all that. And, of course, getting to work with all the wonderful people. And like you said, meeting so many fabulous people this year. But for me, being on Paradise, I didn't realize it until I got away and really had time to reflect on it. It was a time where I could really just be me.
Starting point is 00:06:44 I'm a fixer. I love children. I love young adults. I love being there for people. And I had a month of it where young people cared what I had to say. and they liked spending time with me. It was just, to me, yes, it was a month vacation, but it was just a month to really be myself.
Starting point is 00:07:00 I loved it. What about you? What's the best thing for you in 2025? I just said it. That was one of the major highlights. Getting the award? Accepting that award in Las Vegas at the Belagio. You know, I love playing dress up and all the people's opinions about my dresses.
Starting point is 00:07:18 I love, I want to thank everybody for doing that. And then at the last minute, a designer sent me two dresses. I never even wore the one. Where's mine, by the way, when you get back with her escrow of mine is I didn't get one. She'd be happy to take care of you. All right. Now, another one says, Kathy, what's one moment from this year you didn't realize would matter so much at the time?
Starting point is 00:07:40 Well, so you're going to give me your answer. What's your answer? I'm going to go with the same. I didn't think it would matter so much when I was nominated earlier this year. And it did really matter. It turned out to be something spectacular. Yeah. Yeah, you know, I think that's the lesson. We keep learning lessons, but I think for me,
Starting point is 00:07:59 2025 has shown me that we think we know what's going to happen. We think we know where we're going to be. It never seems to be that way. It's either, in my case, in my case, lots of surprises and lots of things that were better, you know, than I anticipated they would be. Better meaning more fun, meeting lots of people, having incredible opportunities. And, you know, another word I could use is grateful because I am so grateful. I'm not big on resolutions. Like, you know, I try to be my best person every day.
Starting point is 00:08:33 Right. Okay, who showed up for you in an unexpected way? I want to know. It better be me. Who showed up? It's always you, Kathy. Thank you. Kathy's always there for me.
Starting point is 00:08:45 But I have one that, what did 2025, ask of you that you weren't expecting. Well, you obviously have an answer for that one, too. We did this together. Oh, give me a hint. Give me more. Tell me more. We were on ABC.
Starting point is 00:09:06 Pajama party. Oh, you know, that actually is. That is actually a good answer because it was on the surface. Unexpected and so much fun, even me falling in the bushes, backwards. Oh, no, guys, I wish that was on film. I so wish it was on film. That was one of my, that was one of my epic events.
Starting point is 00:09:27 Yeah, being on Mel's season was a surprise, and we weren't expecting it. Yeah. Is there something that you're proud of surviving this year, Kath? You know, I think, like anyone, you know, you and I are human, where I think just surviving. Surviving is a strong word. I know. What mine is, it's the month of. December.
Starting point is 00:09:53 I've got to say I have not been home one. I don't think maybe two nights this month. So I'm waiting on. This is survival of the fittest. December should be renamed. We are surviving December. It is funny. But I have to tell you, one of the things I was going to ask you, and since, you know,
Starting point is 00:10:11 you seem to know all the answers. I have an answer for this one. What is a simple pleasure that you be discovered in 2025? Can I tell you what mine is because you're going to laugh? Yes. so my son-in-law Johnny loves to play cards I love to play cards my husband hated games hated to play cards I love them my poor seven-year-old granddaughter I'm teaching her to play every last night I taught her how to play checkers I swear but the child is 102 fever and I'm saying
Starting point is 00:10:37 okay Lindley we're going to learn how to play checkers she looked at me like you know and she learned she's good but I the simple pleasures of spending family time I know it sounds so you know people say it all the time spending you know i'm so grateful for my family but we went to the beach you remember i took my kids down to the beach and we played card games and board games at night and that is like a lost art of a lost family time and for me that that playing cards spending time with our kids around the table you know cheating in cards and not getting caught it was so much fun what about i love games i do and the simple pleasure of playing golf that i got to rediscover this year I'm sorry, did you say simple? Wait, you said simple pleasure. It's a simple pleasure only because I'm out all day and I don't receive phone calls because I turn it off and I just concentrate on the game. If you think golf is simple, it's got to be, I suck at it, but who cares? I enjoy doing it.

It's the season of giving, which is why my podcast is partnering with Give Directly, a nonprofit that provides people in extreme poverty with the cash they need. This year, we're taking part in the Pods Fight Poverty campaign. And it's not just the Happiness Lab. Some of my favorite podcasters are also taking part. Think Jay Shetty from On Purpose, Dan Harris from 10% Happier,
Starting point is 00:13:11 and Dave Desteno from How God Works, and more. Our goal this year is to raise $1 million, which will help over 700 families in Rwanda living in extreme poverty. Here's how it works. You donate to give directly, and they put that cash directly into the hands of families in need, because those families know best what they need, whether
Starting point is 00:13:31 it's buying livestock to fertilize their farm, paying school fees, or starting a small business. With that support, families can invest in their future and build lasting change. So join me and your favorite podcasters in the Pods Fight Poverty campaign. Head to give directly.org
Starting point is 00:13:46 slash happiness lab to learn more and make a contribution. And if you're a first-time donor, giving multiplier will even match your gift. That's give directly.org slash happiness lab to donate. Hi, I'm Radhidavlukaya and I am the host of a really good cry podcast. This week, I am joined by Anna Runkle, also known as the crappy childhood fairy, a creator, teacher, and guide helping people heal from the lasting emotional wounds of unsafe or chaotic childhoods. We talk about how the things we went through when we were younger can still show up in our adult lives, in our relationships, our reactions, even in the way we feel in our own
Starting point is 00:14:21 bodies. And Anna opens up about her own story, what helped her notice the patterns she was stuck in, and how she slowly started teaching her body that it is safe now. So when I got attacked, it was very random. Four guys jumped out of a car and just started beating me and my friend. And they broke my jaw on my teeth. I was unconscious. Then I woke up and I screamed. And I screamed because even though I didn't know who I was or where I was, something in me was just like, hold on, wait. They could kill me, and I'm not going to let that happen. I'm not going to let that happen.
Starting point is 00:14:51 I'm going to get through this, and I did. Listen to a really good cry on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Like, if we're on the air here, and I literally have my contract here, and I'm looking at, you know, as soon as I sign this, I'm going to get a seven-figure check. I've told them I won't be working here in two weeks. From the underground clubs that shaped global music to the pastors and creatives who built a cultural empire. The Atlanta Ears podcast uncovers the stories behind.
Starting point is 00:15:16 one of the most influential cities in the world the thing i love about atlanta is that it's a city of hustlers man each episode explores a different chapter of atlanta's rise featuring conversations with ludicrous will packer pastor jamal brian dj drama and more the full series is available to listen to now i really just had never experienced anything like what was going on in the city as far as like you know seeing so many young black affluent creatives in all walks of life the church had dwinded almost to nothing. And God said, this is your assignment. And that's like how you know, like, okay,
Starting point is 00:15:52 oh, you're from Atlanta for real. I ain't got to say too much. I'm a Grady, baby. Shut up. Listen to Atlanta is on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Hey, I'm Kelly, and some of you may know me as Laura Winslow. And I'm Telma, also known as Aunt Rachel.
Starting point is 00:16:08 If those names ring a bell, then you probably are familiar with the show that we were both on back in the 90s called Family Matters. Kelly and I have done a lot of things and played a lot of roles over the years, but both of us are just so proud to have been part of Family Matters. Did you know that we were one of the longest running sitcoms with the black cast? When we were making the show, there were so many moments filled the joy and laughter and cut up that I will never forget. Oh, girl, you got that right.
Starting point is 00:16:34 The look that you all give me is so black. All black people know about the look. On each episode of Welcome to the Family, we'll share personal reflections about making the show. Yeah, we'll even bring in part of the cast and some other special guests to join in the fun and spill some tea. Listen to welcome to the family with Telma and Kelly on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Last week, I went to our like final golf. I think I've played twice this year, but I went for the Christmas party and they do this like round robin gifts. And I always give a nice gift.
Starting point is 00:17:15 because I don't want somebody's thrown away gift from last year, right? So this year I gave a lovely box of scented soaps and a beautiful hand-painted dish towel, like things I wanted, so I bought it for somebody else. This year I lucked out, I got and that wasn't a dozen, but I got
Starting point is 00:17:31 two sleeves of golf balls. Oh, nice. New. Not even used. Very nice. That is good. I went out and got my gift last night and I I bought a big thing of peanuts and $50 worth of lottery tickets. wait that's not a white elephant why it has to be for him or her i know no i'm stuck on the
Starting point is 00:17:53 $50 that was our limit oh hell yes for this particular one i'm involved in a few of them actually listen if you win if the person wins you've got to have to share that's right the disclaimer goes if you win anything more than a thousand dollars i get half okay what let me ask you um what What did, because we talk about communication so much and what it means to communicate effectively. What did 2025 teach you about communication? So for me, I always know that how important communication that's what we stand for. But what it did teach me, the lack of communication could be detrimental. Oh, that sounds very heavy.
Starting point is 00:18:38 It is. Okay. Well, one says that they're communicators and they're not. And how do you make them realize that they're not? This is not communication. You need to talk, you know? Well, I was just going to say to you, some people communicate differently. And that's, if 2025 taught me anything, as everyone knows or about to find out, I'm an interruptor.
Starting point is 00:19:03 It's one of my resolutions that I never make that I'm making that I will interrupt less in 2025. Sorry, 2026, which means I've got a few hours here to keep interrupting. Go. But I think that, you know, for me, listening more is important a part of communication as speaking your mind. But to your point, if you're listening more, the other person has to be able to speak his or her mind in a way that we understand. And I think that that is something that, I mean, I just wish every year we got older, communication got easier. But it doesn't. doesn't seem to. No, it doesn't. It doesn't. I don't know. What's one way you became a better partner or friend this year? Well, you're going to take issue with this. I was hoping you wouldn't
Starting point is 00:19:56 ask me this question. Why? But because you're not going to like my answer. Because you're trying not to interrupt. You're trying not to tell me how to run my life. That's a big place for you. That was exactly what I wrote that I'm trying to listen more and give less advice unless someone's paying me for it. which you're not, but we could, we could change that rule too, Susan. I am, I, because I, I think sometimes, you know, I read some really good stuff on the internet, you know, some, some of these people that have made careers out of writing books and writing spiritual and, you know, self-help stuff on the internet, Mel Robbins comes to
Starting point is 00:20:36 mine. I mean, she's amazing. But one of the things that I am learning is that sometimes people just want you to listen. They don't want your opinion. They want your advice. They don't want your advice. They want your advice. They want nothing. They just want to them. And I'm a fixer, as we all know. That's why I love Paradise so much. You know, when Bailey came to me and said, you know, such and such happen, I was like,
Starting point is 00:21:01 sweetie, this is, you know, here's, thank you, Kathy. I mean, it was so easy. You know, they asked me, I told him. It was great. But a lot of times, especially as people get older and all, they just want to vent. So that's how did you become? How about the one that says, when did you feel most like yourself this year? I answer that every day. Every day?
Starting point is 00:21:22 Every day, I feel like myself. Who else could I be? I pretty much, I mean, my answer would be paradise because I just felt like that was a month of Kathy being herself on steroids, but I do. You and I are very similar that way. We are pretty much ourselves. I think, do you think most people reflect on, I mean, besides most people getting hammered on New Year's Eve. Do you think people reflect a lot on all year long?
Starting point is 00:21:49 I do it now, like the Christmas season, the last two weeks. That's when I start reflecting. While you're eating up the rest of your Christmas cookies? No, I got to start baking. God, tomorrow. I'm late. I was away a lot this month. So take that back. Sorry. Yes, it's trying not to eat all the cookies that I baked. You know what? Give them away, Susan. It's the end of the year. Give me. And it's the last day, Kathy. You know what? I cannot believe it's 2026 about to be.
Starting point is 00:22:22 We've got a few hours. So wait, you're not making a resolution then, right? Well, I don't really make resolutions, but I have things in my mind that I want to try to do better at, if you will. We all do. That's good. We're still trying to be better. All right, well, let's ask about our podcast because, you know, we're coming up on, can you believe two years? It's insane.
Starting point is 00:22:45 I love it. I love it too. How would you describe this podcast in one word? Fulfilling. I had the same word. Did you? I cannot. Okay, that's creepy.
Starting point is 00:23:01 That's really, I mean, now my hair's getting as dark as yours. Now we're thinking insane. No, I did because I love doing it. We've talked about this. We love it. We love hearing the people's, our listeners questions, their advice. Do you have a favorite episode? You know what? I tried to think about that. There's so many different ones, some that were so fun. But the ones that really
Starting point is 00:23:28 connect with me is when we read those questions and I feel for these people making their choices of whatever it was. Some of them are really emotional and that stays with me. I don't know that I actually have a favorite? Yeah, I kind of feel the same way. We do a lot of them, Kath. Yeah, I know. I love it when you and I just jaw with each other. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:52 I love it when we have guests because I love that we get to know more about them. They get to know more about us. But I think the most surprising thing to me in general about this podcast, because really this is just you and I. I mean, it feels it's just you and I having a conversation, right? But obviously, the hope is millions of people are downloading and listening to it. Exactly. But what I've realized is, and it's another cliche, words matter. Our words matter. People are genuinely asking. And that's, that is shocking on the one hand, but also there's a lot of responsibility that goes along with that. To the extent that people are really asking our opinion who are really hurting. You know, how can I make my life better? You two seem to have such a good friendship. I'm so lonely. How do, there's a lot of responsibility that. goes in to trying to answer with knowing that we're not therapists and we're not doctors and we
Starting point is 00:24:48 we're not like just a life experience life experience and so I feel a responsibility to really try to help people and you and I've talked about this when we're out together how many especially it always happens in airports when we're together people come up and they say we've changed their lives and that is the most fulfilling that's why I wrote fulfilling because remember the one time we almost cried. Yeah, people just coming up and saying how their lives are better. They've gotten up off the sofa. You know, I just, I love that.
Starting point is 00:25:18 So, okay, what did you learn about yourself as a host this year? Well, I think that's for me is what I just answered, that my words matter, that it's not just up here jawing saying the first thing that comes to my mind, but trying to be really thoughtful about how I answer. What about you? For me, I really do have patience. I didn't think I had any. I think I have patience.
Starting point is 00:25:50 With what? With patience. With any of it? With our podcast. Oh, interesting. Okay. That's interesting. So was there a conversation we had that stuck with you
Starting point is 00:26:04 longer than you expected? I think that one goes back to yes, when we read things that are sad or we feel very heartfelt, you know, can I tell you the one? I'm throwing another question here. What is the biggest, what is the most disappointing conversation or call in or letter we've had? I got that answer. The guy from wherever he was, whatever state, who said he really wanted to meet me. And I said, and he never called. And he never called. So thanks a lot, bud. Glad we're wiping that one out of 20. 25.
Starting point is 00:26:39 And what's something that listeners might not realize that goes into making this show. What do you think? I say how it affects us, for one, listening to people, how we affect others, giving our advice. Yeah. And our research and what we have to do to prepare for the show. Yeah, I think a lot of people think we just show up and start talking. And that's the goal, obviously, to make it look like it's just an easy conversation. But, you know, we try to research and know what we're talking about before we get on there.
Starting point is 00:27:17 And you know what else? Kathy, like we say all the time, keep your questions coming. If there's something that our listeners want to know about or want to hear about, let us know what that topic is. And we will be on it. That's what we're here for. Yeah. And one of the thing I want to say, which, you know, this is, these are recorded. Sometimes they're recorded the day that you listen to them.
Starting point is 00:27:39 Sometimes they're recorded a weekend. It just depends on our schedule. But we have producers. We have people who help make us look good. They help us with topics and guests. So, you know, if you think this is the Kathy and Susan show, it's not. We have a lot of people in the background helping us. So always, you know, hats off to them.
Starting point is 00:27:59 All right, Susan. Yes. We have to produce. predict what's going to happen in 20, 26. I mean, I want to talk about, I don't know if we can't. The cruise, Bachelor Nation Vacation. We're definitely doing that in November. I used to think that was so far away.
Starting point is 00:28:23 It's not really that far away. I know. I wonder if we can talk because Taylor's is the new Bachelorette. And she, so do you predict she gets engaged? I would think so. I think she will. Yeah, I think so. I think she will, and I'm so envious
Starting point is 00:28:44 that she got to do that. But I bet, you know, she's had a colorful life. I'm excited for her season. I cannot wait to watch her show. I think it's going to be one of the best Bachelor shows. But all right, so we don't know that much about you because it's not on yet. But here's some other predictions I have.
Starting point is 00:29:04 I think Kelsey, didn't they say they were getting married in 2026? No, I think so. No? I don't remember them saying a date. I remember Joey. Not a date. I think they said, anyway, I'm predicting Kelsey and Joey will either get married in 2026 or they will announce a date. I think Charity and Dotten, same thing. They're either going to get married. I think they get married in 26. I don't know. They're the ones that shared, I believe. I'm just saying, I think we're going to have some great Bachelor weddings.
Starting point is 00:29:40 I think we're going to have some Bachelor babies being born, not by you and me. But I think some of those are coming. I don't know. I think. And some couples getting together from Bachelor that weren't the lead or the chosen one, you know, others. Yeah, we got a few of those coming too, I think. Yeah, we might have to get some of those on our show. all right what do you what do you want to bring more of into this show next year our show
Starting point is 00:30:09 more of more of exciting things something uh juicy we're not talking about sex toys we're not oh god sex toys no fashion uh I don't know I'm up for anything yeah I want to know what our fans want and if they give me a thing we're going to run with it. Yeah. I would like to know, I, again, I think people who are golden, there's only so many topics in the world, but I think I would like to have as many guesses we've had. I'd like to, I would like to know how they're doing. I would like to know how some of the people from Bachelor Nation that have sort of disappeared, they've gone on with their lives. I want to know what they're doing. What they're doing now. Yeah. I mean,
Starting point is 00:31:02 And sometimes people that have been on the shows, as you know, Kathy, that's what they did. They were on the show and that was it. Other people have been on many and like us were still in their face. People complain about it sometimes. Like, why are you back? Because people enjoy this smile, okay? They enjoy our banter. They enjoy hearing what we have to say.
Starting point is 00:31:26 But I agree. But I also think some people would be really interested. And I'm struggling to come up with names right now because I didn't plan for that. But like some of the people that were on the show, most people, let me back up, most people who come on The Bachelor or The Bachelorette, they're on TV, they do this dating thing, they put their lives out there, and then most everybody goes back to their life. They might change the career. I think more and more, you're seeing a lot more influencers coming out of this because that's the way of the world. That's what's happening with social media, et cetera. But I got to be honest, I can't even give a name.
Starting point is 00:32:10 Really, I'm interested in any Bachelor Nation person who I spent the time watching their seasons. I was, you know, I wanted to know what they were doing. I was so wrapped up in their life on the show. And now, where are they? what are they doing? Did they get married? Did they have kids? What job did they do? It's like I'm a lawyer. I just want to know what goes on in these people's lives. Or Kathy, aren't we excited? And we're hopeful that maybe they come up with a new series with you and I. Susan, she's relentless folks. Fans would love that, Kathy. Relentless. Okay, so we've got about two
Starting point is 00:32:50 minutes here, Susan. Give me your pilot. What's the pilot look like for this show? Tell me. Golden Girls Out and Wild. No, just living life Like what it's like You remember the old show The Golden Girls I still watch it on reruns In the middle of the night
Starting point is 00:33:06 When I can't sleep I think we would be perfect For that You know I think people would be One of the things I think our audience Would like to know
Starting point is 00:33:17 When you and I are out together People come up and they're always So surprised that we're together Like oh you two really are friends I said yeah I hate her sometimes I want to kill her We're like sisters but yes we are and people are shocked that you and i travel that we see each other that we're friends
Starting point is 00:33:32 quite a few times a year absolutely well and then the other question they always ask us is did you how many takes did you know to do those videos like we do our coffee talks and stuff i love our coffee talks gosh please it's just we're all that's us i think we should do coffee talks here that could be in 26 and just see what i mean just see what in my road and we really will have coffee Some of our coffee talks, as they noticed, there was no coffee. Wait a minute. If we do coffee talks in the afternoon, can it be wine talk? Kathy W.H.I.N.E.
Starting point is 00:34:07 Happy hour. We could call that happy hour. Kathy W.H.I.N.E. Drinking W.I.N.E. Hey, everyone. It's me, Katie Couric. Did you know that I recently joined Substack? It's where I'll be sharing my unfiltered conversations with the people everyone's talking about. Journalists breaking news, politicians making it, actors we can't stop watching, experts, and a few unexpected voices who just might change the way you see the world.
Starting point is 00:34:38 I'll also share what I'm reading, what I'm watching, what's making me roll my eyes, and what's giving me hope. It's a little news, a little opinion, and yes, the occasional curse word, because let's face it, have you seen the headlines lately? So if you like smart takes, deep dives, and are also thinking, WTF is happening.
Starting point is 00:34:58 Search Katie Couric on Substack and hit subscribe. All of my interviews and articles are free to help everyone stay informed. But if you want to join the group chat and hear my hottest takes, well, that's for premium users only. It's going to be so much fun. I can't wait to see you there. Again, search Katie Couric on Substack and hit subscribe. Hi, Dr. Lori Santos from the Happiness Lab here. It's the season of giving.
Starting point is 00:35:25 which is why my podcast is partnering with Give Directly, a nonprofit that provides people in extreme poverty with the cash they need. This year, we're taking part in the Pods Fight Poverty campaign. And it's not just the Happiness Lab. Some of my favorite podcasters are also taking part. Think Jay Shetty from On Purpose, Dan Harris from 10% Happier, and Dave Desteno from How God Works, and more. Our goal this year is to raise $1 million,
Starting point is 00:35:52 which will help over 700 families in Rwanda living in extreme. poverty. Here's how it works. You donate to give directly, and they put that cash directly into the hands of families in need, because those families know best what they need, whether it's buying livestock to fertilize their farm, paying school fees, or starting a small business. With that support, families can invest in their future and build lasting change. So join me and your favorite podcasters in the Pods Fight Poverty campaign. Head to give directly.org slash happiness lab to learn more and make a contribution. And if you're a first-time donor, giving multiplier will even match your gift.
Starting point is 00:36:29 That's give directly.org slash happiness lab to donate. We talk about how the things we went through when we were younger can still show up in our adult lives, in our relationships, our reactions, even in the way, way we feel in our own bodies.
Starting point is 00:36:57 And Anna opens up about her own story, what helped her notice the patterns she was stuck in, and how she slowly started teaching her body that it is safe now. So when I got attacked, it was very random. Four guys jumped out of a car and just started beating me and my friend. And they broke my jaw on my teeth. I was unconscious. Then I woke up and I screamed. And I screamed because even though I didn't know who I was or where I was,
Starting point is 00:37:20 something in me was just like, hold on, wait, they could kill me and I'm not going to let that happen. I'm not going to let that happen. I'm going to get through this, and I did. Listen to a really good cry on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Hey, I'm Kelly, and some of you may know me as Laura Winslow. And I'm Telma, also known as Aunt Rachel. If those names ring a bell, then you probably are familiar with the show that we were both on back in the 90s called Family Matters. Kelly and I have done a lot of things and played a lot of roles over the years.
Starting point is 00:37:50 But both of us are just so proud to have been part of Family Matters. Did you know that we were one of the longest running sitcoms with the black cast? When we were making the show, there were so many moments filled the joy and laughter and cut up that I will never forget. Oh, girl, you got that right. The look that you all give me is so black. All black people know about the look. On each episode of Welcome to the Family, we'll share personal reflections about making the show. Yeah, we'll even bring in part of the cast and some other special guests to join in the fun and spill some tea.
Starting point is 00:38:24 Listen to Welcome to the Family with Telma and Kelly on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The social media trend that's landing some Gen Ziers in jail. The progressive media darling whose public meltdown got her fired. I'm going to take Francesco off the network entirely. The massive TikTok boycott against Target that makes no actual sense. I will continue getting stuff from Target. And I will continue to not pay for it. And the MAGA influencers whose trip to the White House ended in embarrassment.
Starting point is 00:38:58 So refreshing to have the press secretary after the last few years who's both intelligent and articulation. You won't hear about these online stories in the mainstream media, but you can keep up with them and all the other entertaining and outrageous things happening online in media and in politics with the Brad versus Everyone podcast, hosted by me, Brad Palumbo. Every day of the week, I bring you on a wild ride who the most delulu takes on the internet, criticizing the extremes of both sides from an independent perspective. Join in on The Insanity and listen to the Brad versus Everyone podcast on the Iheart Radio app,
Starting point is 00:39:30 Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Can you recall a favorite episode that we recorded this year? I have one. I have two. One of my favorites, who was it that came on, Kathy, and we did nothing but laugh. Hakeem. Well, always Hakeem, yes. Some were too serious.
Starting point is 00:39:58 Some were fun. We had a couple on. Oh, see, you are better than I. Because in the moment, I will tell you, in the moment, I, that's why I feel so fulfilled doing this. In the moment, I am loving, it doesn't matter who I'm interviewing. I love interviewing that person.
Starting point is 00:40:18 To me, it's like a puzzle. I like seeing, it's not to air their dirty laundry, I just like, wait, am I going to get a little tidbit here that, you know, they haven't admitted up until now? Like, I like the, I like the challenge of doing that, but I don't know. I don't have a favorite. I got to go way back like when Jordan and Keith, remember, we did those, Charles L. Yeah. I mean, it was fun getting their takes on, on, on, it was. Allie Joe.
Starting point is 00:40:48 Oh, Allie Joe, I love her too. I don't know. I don't have a favorite. By the way, speaking of Allie Joe in predictions. Yeah. Allie Joe is dating. I don't know if you know the story, but they were supposed to be on Paradise together
Starting point is 00:41:00 and they weren't, yada yada, yeah. They left within 24 hours of each other, but they were coming to meet each other. Well, they're now dating. Yes. Seriously dating. And we text all the time. I believe someone's going to get a ring on her hand this year.
Starting point is 00:41:15 Nice. I do. Nice. There's a lot that came out from Paris. Herdice, a lot of relationships. Rub it in, Susan. Just rub it in. Kathy, it wasn't for Golden, you know.
Starting point is 00:41:25 You're just mommy there. It was good. You were there. I was a good mommy. Yeah. But, no, there were a lot of relationships. And I just, I mean, and you and I've talked about this, Bachelor is a great story. It's a great structure.
Starting point is 00:41:38 But it does work. I mean, I, so my, I hope for 2026, starting with Frankie, Taylor, Frankie Paul. Yeah, she's starting with her. I hope. that she finds the love of her life. I'll tell you, I sit there so envious. I so wish it were me. I so wish that...
Starting point is 00:41:56 That we were 40 years younger and just... No, no, no, no. I don't want to be... I love the age I am. I just wish that I had a guy that loved me and was going to put a ring on my hand in 2026. Yeah, right?
Starting point is 00:42:10 I don't know. How do you hope listeners feel when they tune in next year? What do you think... How would you want them to feel? That's so easy for me. Make them smile, right? I want them to laugh.
Starting point is 00:42:25 I want them to feel like it was time well spent, whether they're driving in the car, out walking, or sitting knitting, or baking cakes. What the hell were these two up to this week? Because, you know, there's a lot of sadness in the world. There's a lot of troubles in the world. If we could just make someone laugh and enjoy the day a little bit. Wait, I have to say one other episode I loved.
Starting point is 00:42:46 It just came to me. Jared Freed. Now, speaking about, I would be a cougar for him. I think he... You guys would be great together to bounce off of them. I love him. I don't think he's ever going to settle down. He says he is.
Starting point is 00:42:59 I said, when, when you're in a wheelchair? I know. He keeps saying he wanted to. How about remember Mark Anderson? We thought he was going to be the next golden. That's another prediction. Yeah. I bet he gets engaged this year.
Starting point is 00:43:09 Yeah, yeah. I totally think that. Oh, now that would be interesting. If he gets engaged to Barbara, what about Joey and Kelsey would they have a double wedding? Oh, that would that be exciting?
Starting point is 00:43:22 And we've had Leslie or our little Leslie. A little sweet Leslie who I adore. I don't know. I just all of them. I liked when we had Jill on because she's from, Jill is funny. I had fun with her in Paradise. She's cool, but she's one of these people.
Starting point is 00:43:39 You don't know what box you're going to get when you open it up with Jill. She'll never know. Yeah, she can be very funny. she can be she's an interesting person I don't Sam I had such a crush I just told you that's going to be a ring
Starting point is 00:43:53 that's you can't have a crush on somebody who's getting engaged Susan he's so cute they're both so cute in my Hakeem always you know what can I tell you the worst podcast we had in 2025 I don't I think it was Hakeem for me I could have been I could have been out picking daisies
Starting point is 00:44:11 on the side of the highway I mean you two were carrying on like there was no tomorrow i was like seriously do i even need to be here like see a little happens with us i don't know why it just absolutely does happen fun fun and and we did gary and his new significant other can you say her name yet can you say her name lanza you say it your way i say it mine lana okay i'm going to start calling you susy then lana it's lana it's lana it's lana like land panna she's adorable though i can't wait to see what happens there she's too young though No, she's not.
Starting point is 00:44:47 No, she's not. Age is a number. Uh-huh, okay. All my listeners, is age just a number? Or? Yeah, we're going to do a podcast on that because I've given that a lot of thoughts, Susan. In 2026, speaking of it just being a number, we are going to do, I promise you. I turn 69 in 2026.
Starting point is 00:45:08 Yeah, and guess what's after 69? I don't want to know. Then you're going to be the same. I can't count that high. You know what? I got to be honest with you, just like I have to, before we wrap up here, just like 20, you know, the change of the year to me never matters. Like it's another year.
Starting point is 00:45:25 Time is just, and time is a number, age is a number, all those things. That's why I never make resolutions because, you know, it's like working out, how many people say, I'm going to wait, I'm going to start exercising. I know, I said every year. I'm going to get in the gym in January. And you know what, speaking of, I go to the gym, as you know, two or three times a week. I hate the gym in January because all these people are going to fall up and they all fall off by February the place is back to normal again thank God anyway that's my PSA get to the gym now don't
Starting point is 00:45:54 wait till January get to the gym I'm always the girl but give something up for Lent not New Year's resolution well listen it is New Year's it is we're about to be there I want to wish everyone happy new to you Susan I wish you a year of happiness love prosperity and good health and the same to all of our listeners.
