Welcome back. Welcome back to Batchelor Happy Hour's Golden Hour. Thanks so much for joining us today. How are you doing, Susan?
We are so glad to be back. And if you haven't heard our recent episodes yet, please go check them out. We've been having so much fun answering these questions.
Oh, my gosh. Have we ever?
You know the draw, everybody, by now.
All you have to do is go to bachelornation.com slash golden hour and send all your questions and comments our way.
We love hearing from you.
We absolutely do.
And speaking of bachelornation.com, we're having a Bachelor Nation takeover episode today.
But before we bring our guest on Kathy, we've got to talk about Jones premiere.
First of all, seeing all the women last night together.
We're also in California visiting friends and just seeing the bond that we created a year ago today.
And if you don't mind, Kathy, I have to share the opening song brought back a lot of memories for you.
It did.
Joan's show was amazing, but I have to say I was taken aback because Rainbow was played at the beginning.
and that was the song that was played at my husband's funeral.
He loved that song.
And so, it was hard.
And emotions were flowing, not only for Kathy, but just seeing all the men.
And Joan did a fabulous job.
I feel as if she was very reserved and careful, she had good intent.
She tried to pay attention to what everyone had to say.
Yeah.
She looked absolutely gorgeous.
She was so composed.
I don't know.
You know, for us, it's a little bit different because we were there with Jum last year.
So for us watching all those guys get out of the limbo, they all were so handsome.
They were doing their best to impressor.
You know, you and I talked about we could feel that there was some nerves with the guys.
Couldn't we?
I mean, remember how it was for us, watching them and feeling that nervousness and that one particular guy, was it, Jordan, I believe he kept thinking he messed up on his first down.
He did it. He didn't at all. He's adorable. I was really taken back and I was very impressed on how these men showed emotion when the children. How about the children coming on?
Okay. So that for me was the biggest standout of the show because we're at an age where, you know, we're not 20 and 30 somethings. And so our, when we date, it's not like, hey, let's just go. We have children. We have great children. So bringing the guys children.
on TV and wishing their dads well in this journey. To me, it shows all the tears. It will,
but they'll show about tournation. We're not just dating. We have families. We have grandkids.
And it all matters. So I thought that really gave a good perspective of what it's like to date in our
golden years. Absolutely. Absolutely. Absolutely. And so what was one of your favorite moments?
That's what I want to know. I'm seeing the men cry. I mean, that that spoke to.
me. Guy, guy teared up. I mean, he, he, you can't fake that. You just can't. You can't.
You can't make this stuff. You know, I was very impressed. I can't wait to next week.
Oh, who was the guy, Susan? He was either Keith or Jack. You know, Keith got the first impression
Rose. Oh, wait. He made her feel so comfortable, kind of like her husband did. Yeah. She said,
she felt safe. And he was the guy that came in with the car, right? Is that? Yes. Yes. Yeah. When he pulled up
with the luggage on top, the old station wagon.
I was like, what?
And then what did you think about our Frenchman who asked Joan if she,
he'd love to just pick up and go to France, go to Paris for the night?
She said, I'm in, I'm in.
You know what, before when we saw the view of the guys in the introduction prior to the show,
I didn't know if I was all about the Frenchman.
But last night, I thought he did a great job.
A little showy, he was showing that he had some money and he likes to buy nice things.
he dresses the part. That's all about being in hair because I know, I understand that.
I got to say, so Susan and I are here together watching this together. Our hands both went
up in the air. Do you want to go to Paris? Hell yeah. I'm in. But one of the things I loved was
Jordan. Can we just talk about, not Jordan, sorry, Jonathan. I mean, Jonathan, oh, with a
blindfold. Wait, Jonathan walks in in a blindfold. And I'm thinking, Joan, when you see this guy,
Like when he sees her, he's going to die.
She's so handsome.
I loved it.
I loved the blindfold trick.
I loved so many of them, yes.
And you know what?
I hated the fact that the rose ceremony, I know what she was going through.
I remember Gary going through this.
Letting people go is the hardest part.
Wait, can we just say?
I give Joan kudos 100% great job.
You look beautiful.
You did well.
Wait, I have one more question here for you.
What happened to our guy from Austin, Texas?
You know what happened?
He didn't button his shirt and he got sent home.
That's what happened.
But honestly, Joan has so many great guys.
She's got so many great guys to choose from.
And we are just wishing her the very best of this journey.
Real quick, Kathy, remember when we both looked at each other and felt like, oh, my gosh, it was a year ago and we were a part of this.
you know like we are bachelor nation people for the rest of our lives you're not getting rid of us
and and while you're saying that susan just remember joan can only choose one that's right that's right
we need phone numbers for leftovers all right let's get into today's episode our guest today is
danny gallant she's our bachelor nation expert and she's the magic behind behind bachelor nation

different occasions about different fun things kathy and i did an amazing pride interview susan
i've done so many interviews we've had some fun we've had some fun and we have like all the
podcasts are up on there as well you can also apply to be on the show or apply to be in the audience as
well or sign up to be in those emails which you've also both sat in the audience which is so fun
yes yes we've done it all with you you've done it all you could i would know jay
Danny. How have you been, Danny? You're so busy. What else is going on in your life?
Anything you want to talk about? No, you know, just bachelor nation and, yeah, making it, making a human life.
But, you know, making a human life. That's, that, it takes a little bit of time. Well, great.
We are, um, uh, ready to move and we're going to get started here with Danny, but,
boy, Kathy, Danny's going to be putting us in the hot seat. Did you know? Yes, I am.
We have no idea what she's going to ask us this time.
Susan, I was trying to slide by that thinking if we didn't say it, it wouldn't happen.
Oh, boy.
Should we get wine?
You know, is there ever a time when I'm going to say no to that ever?
Okay.
All right.
What do you say we do the question of the day?
I say that's a good idea.
All right.
What do you think makes someone a good lead on the Bachelor shows?
Danny, that question was for you.
Well, it's for all of us, isn't it?
Oh, yes, it is.
I've watched so, I mean, all of the seasons pretty much at this point.
I feel like what makes someone a really great lead on one of our Bachelor Nation shows is their ability to just be present and be in the moment and kind of ignore the noise that happens around them.
I feel like it is something that happens so fast.
But when you're like, take a second to slow down and be intentional,
I think you can really see that.
It really comes through.
And when I say like tuning out the noise,
I also mean like after the show too.
We've all seen like how social media plays a role in all of this.
But like it's really about you and that person after the show.
And so I love when like a good lead,
it just feels confident in their decisions,
seems really grounded.
And yeah, that's kind of like.
And I've seen so, so many of them over the years.
Like I've,
I've loved getting to like witness them just kind of.
into themselves and it's really fun to watch what do you guys think i i happen to agree with you and to
definitely be open because you're there for a reason and just be you authentically you and give
everybody a minute a chance to get to know people but what makes one a better lead than the other
yeah there's so many good yeah i don't i don't i don't think that there's like i mean everyone has
like their favorites right you know it just as a fan of the show people love to watch but i feel like
Yeah, just finding that, like, openness and being able to really lean into the process,
I feel like both as a lead and as a cast member, you can really tell when people lean in,
you know, and you can also tell when people don't and when they're like resisting the process.
And so I feel like it's really fun when you see people just kind of like surrender.
And that's usually the relationships that end up working out in my opinion.
And a sense of humor.
Like, yeah, have a little, you know.
I don't know.
I feel like I agree with most of what you're saying.
but I also think people have to be able to identify with the lead.
So, you know, The Bachelor Nation, people watching, it has to be someone that they feel has warmth to them and depth to them.
And I actually believe it has to be someone who is appealing to the eye, has to be, you know, physically attractive.
I mean, those all sound superficial, but I think that's part of it because,
As an audience member, you know, I've now been on both, I haven't been a lead, but I was on the show.
And, you know, now I look and I imagine what that would have been like.
You know, what is it like to have all those men to date at one time?
And I think you want to, I think it's hard in that moment to always be yourself.
And as you said, Danny, tune out the noise.
I mean, that, it's a lot.
to do and I think you have to take it seriously but you also want to have fun with it it's it's a
real mix I think it is what part what part of what we said do you not agree with because you said I agree
with most of what you said what are you not agreeing there was something that you said I don't
honestly I'd have to go back and listen it was something you said I was trying not to interrupt
for a change there was something you said at the beginning Susan that I I was like I'm not sure
I go with that nothing huge um I I just think though yeah I honestly I can't remember it
was just a detail but I do think being yourself for me as we've talked many times you and I
Susan are only ourselves it's it's the only thing we know how to be it's all I can be so when you
ask what makes a good lead it it almost sounds redundant to me to say be yourself because what else
you're going to be yeah I feel like something that you both said was about being relatable but then
also dating all these people at the same time it's like it could be related
in the most unrelatable situation, which is so difficult.
So, yeah, it is definitely not something that is easy.
It's not something that I've ever done.
It's not something I could do.
So I give a lot of credit to all of those weeks.
I never envision being with a woman.
I'll just be honest.
I'm Jamel Hill, host of the Sports and Politics Podcasts, Spolitics.
On this week's episode, I'm joined by basketball legend, Candice Parker, who stops
by to discuss her candid new book, The Can Do Mindset, in which she shares why she waited two years
into marriage to come out. Like, when I close my eyes at night, every night, I was like,
I need to find my prince charming. Like, it was never a princess. Like, that never entered into my
mind. But, you know, as I learned, sometimes life gives you things wrapped in a package that you
didn't expect it. And that was just, you know, and honestly, it took me a long time to be okay
with myself. Make sure to listen to this week's episode of Spolitics on the IHeart Radio app,
Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.

What would you do if one bad decision
Forced you to choose between a maximum security
prison or the most brutal boot camp
Designed to be hell on earth
Unfortunately from Mark Lombarda
this was the choice he faced.
He said, you are a number, a New York State number, and we own you.
Shock incarceration, also known as boot camps,
are short-term, highly regimented correctional programs
that mimic military basic training.
These programs aim to provide a shock of prison life,
emphasizing strict discipline, physical training, hard labor, and rehabilitation programs.
Mark had one chance to complete this program,
and had no idea of the hell awaiting him the next six months.
The first night was so overwhelming, and you don't know who's next to you.
And we didn't know what to expect in the morning.
Nobody tells you anything.
Listen to shock incarceration on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts,
or wherever you get your podcasts.
I've always felt for the lead when they get down to two or three, three,
even. I mean, I truly believe you, they have feelings for each and every one of them and how you
have to decipher between them. I mean, that's a lot. That's really serious. Yeah, it's a lot of pressure.
And at that point, you've obviously met their families and stuff and people really invested.
And yeah, it's not an easy task. That's why not everybody does it, you know. Right. Well, I'll
have another one. I think Kathy and I are available. We'll do it together, Kath. We can do it together.
I've never seen anybody with that big of a personality on it, though.
Have you?
Oh, yeah.
I mean, I feel like it's, it often does become like about the rest of the cast, too, though.
You know, there's only so much time that we get to see you guys know that.
You know, like this is weeks and weeks of filming and we see a couple hours of it every week.
But yeah, I mean, I think that the leads often and similar to the cast members,
you only get to see as such a small part of their personality on screen and we get to like know them more sometimes on podcasts like this.
I also think, though, I also think, though, I always.
I also think, though, that the leads have to, when we talk about being relatable, I think people do things on the show that even they look back and go, oh, maybe I shouldn't have done that.
And I think that's what makes certain leads more favorites than others, you know, they, and that's just human nature.
So I think everything we're saying is true, but I think sometimes the leads get themselves in situations and were, as the audience, pretty quick.
to judge and yet if we were doing it you know you don't understand it's much easier to be behind a
keyboard watching it on your couch than doing it yourself so all right danny we're going to hand this off
to you now we're here we're here for us today okay so i have compiled some questions doing
some deep digging i'm not going to tell you where i found these questions where i got these fun facts
about you guys but about us yeah i'm going to alternate yeah i'm going to alternate to go back
and forth. Like I said, we've done this before with Joe and Serena and they were both like,
how did you find that did you call my mom? Like, oh shit. So we're going to just ask some fun
questions. Kathy, did you tell her things about me? No, no. Kathy, you promised. I'm not shaking my
hand. I didn't do it. I didn't say a thing. I just, you know, you guys have been doing this podcast for
a while. You've both done so many interviews. I just wanted to ask you some things that you've
never been asked before, you know? Like, I feel like sometimes you get asked the same questions. I can
promise you, you haven't been asked about this stuff. Okay, one thing, you do know I suck at that one
game, Kathy. So, we're not, we're not playing now. Please, the question, the question's going to
be, who's the worst person on the face of the planet, moral quandary? Susan. Susan Knowles.
All right. I have a question for Kathy first. All right. Perfect. I'm going over the edge first here.
Great. Okay. Can you tell us about the time that you locked yourself out of an Airbnb and went through
people's backyards to get back. What? I need the tea. I need the tea. That donation needs the tea.
Okay, I don't know. Now I would spend the rest of my life. Okay. So my sister and I went to London last
year to visit my niece, her daughter, and we stayed in Airbnb in central London. And it was a
lovely Airbnb, but as windows and doors are, they closed. And in this particular,
Airbnb. They forgot to tell us, take a key with you whenever you walk out because the door
slammed shut and you're screwed. And so this was very late at night. And my sister and I were like,
how are we going to get back? And we, of course, didn't know anyone. We tried calling the landlord
didn't answer. So we didn't know what to do. So it was like a big courtyard in the middle.
So we hopped a fence, maybe popped into someone's porch kind of.
Did you boost her up or just climbed up on the fence and jumped over into the courtyard and my sister came with us.
I was really afraid because we were going through people's like their back patios in their courtyard.
And we went through and the back door, we had luckily opened it.
That one did not get locked.
And so it was an hour and a half of pure fear.
It was very early in the morning, like 12.31 in the morning.
I definitely want to know, Danny.
laughing so hard pee my pants so we were a little scared being locked out and now danny how that hell did you find that out
maybe i knew some of the neighbors you know great somebody that's all security footage it was really i'm telling you
you had seen me climbing up over my sister was like you can't get up there i said watch me oh yes i can
give you a boost no are you kidding me i i'm strong man i just i just climbed up and 12 pounds
Seriously.
Okay, that is a great story.
See, I told you you haven't been asked that before.
It's true.
It's good.
All right, Susan.
Breaking and entering.
Breaking and entering.
Yes, I did.
It was your Airbnb, to be fair.
You just had to pop a few fences to get there.
Trespessing, maybe.
Susan, I want you to tell us a story about meeting.
I believe it's your ex-husband, not an overnight flight while you were a flight attendant.
Is that true?
I did meet him on.
the flight. Okay. I was a flight attendant, yes. And I was with a bunch of flight attendants and my
ex-husband's team was in town. We had a 36-hour layover in a boring city. And I'm looking at the
flight attendants going, oh, great, what are we going to do here? And she goes, oh, the Cubs are in town.
I go, and that means, and they said, we know all that. One of the girls used to be the Phillies ball
girl, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And he paid for the Cubs? Well, he was with the
Philly. She knew him. So it was actually on a dare. He's going to kill me for saying this, too.
Maybe I shouldn't say. Yeah, I have to. It's never stopped you before, Susan. If any of you guys,
from 1980, what was it? 81. They had, I never met any of these people. And they said, oh, she'll do it. She'll do it.
Go up and knock on his door and act like you're a groupie and just wish him well because he was a starting
picture the next day and I did he's like well come in so I leave he asked me to stay and I leave
and I you could hear Dickie calling all the rooms there there was an angel in this room there was this
beautiful girl and they're like yeah right yeah right well they left us tickets for the game and
he was warming up and there I was up in the stands and he's looking at me like it that was you
the angel has arrived I just want you to know I've never heard this story we went to a night club
after the game called heaven and that's when we started chat
Oh, see, look, you're learning about each other.
That's our story.
I think he forgive me, but it was all true.
Yeah, I just want to point out here, I'm breaking, entering, trespassing, and Susan is coming from heaven.
Perfect.
I'm just glad she asked you that question.
Keep them coming.
As they were asking you, Kathy, things are going through my mind like, they wouldn't know that.
Oh, gosh.
Now I'm like, I need to do more, Dickens.
Oh, I'll never tell.
Okay.
All right.
Kathy, your turn.
I want to hear about this time you were thrown off a horse.
You don't like horseback riding.
Were you, like, bucked off a horse?
Throne off a horse?
What happened here?
So I know this came from Kyle.
I'm going to kill him.
We were in Colorado.
And we were, my kids all loved a horseback ride.
I have a deathly fear of horses.
Don't like them.
Don't want to be near them.
anything so we're riding and they put me on this horse and I told them I'm scared of horses
and they said oh you'll be fine I was fine for about oh five minutes and that horse like it's like
you know the horse kind of turned around and looked at me and it was basically saying screw you
and he put his head down and just kind of went oh they know you sense it I'm telling I was like
just shaking on that horse and he threw me off and I he kind of
he didn't like buck me he sort of like turned and bent down sort of I mean there was no way I could
stay on and I just oh yeah my kids were dying laughing I said I went bananas I said I have never
ever riding a horse again and the truth is they made me do it on a trip like two years later
and that horse took off running you would have died laughing I was holding on for dear life
running back to the stable I will never get on a horse.
some time with faith and learn how to do this. No, no. I talked to faith about it. I was going to say,
Faith could be your girl. Oh, no. I will never get on a horse ever. In fact, Gary and I've talked
about it. He doesn't like horses either. I will never get on a horse again. Done over.
I guess it's good you didn't get the horseback riding bachelor date because that's sometimes
you know what? I would have a sudden case of the flu if that happened.
There goes Kathy's one-on-one.
There's an allergic reaction. I'm allergic to horses. I'm sorry. I'm not available to ride horses today,
but I am available for a yacht cruise or a helicopter ride or a, you know, anything, jumping on an airplane.
You wouldn't even like the four-wheeler.
I would take anything over a horse.
I'm afraid to go to, what's it called, diving with an air tank on you, what's it called?
Scuba dive.
I would scuba dive before I'd get on a horse again.
Wow.
Okay, noted.
We will not be sending.
That's down.
That's right.
No horse dates.
all right susan back to you um you're an amazing gift giver i think we all know that i've been lucky
enough to be on the receiving end of a gift from you which is just so glorious can you tell us
about the time you took someone to greece for their birthday yes again was that a surprise gift like
i need to know it was it was part part his birthday was the day after christmas oh okay so it was
a combination gift christmas and birthday were we dating this person yeah
Yes, yes, we were. And I really wanted to go. And that friend was on the frugal side. And I knew he'd never splurged. So I bought him a gift. And how did you present that? Did you just like hand over the tickets? Oh, no, no, no. It was like box after box after box. And there were hints. And, you know, I like to torture people. And then there was a picture of Greece. You know, the famous picture with the bells and water and all the white. And he goes, what is?
this? And I said, well, that's part one. Part two is your birthday present. And then there were the
tickets. Oh, wow. So did you go like that night? No, no, no, no. It was planned. It was planned.
So like he had time to pack a bag. Like it wasn't like, we're going right now.
That was a great trip. Are you going to take me on a surprise trip? I should have been a dude.
I know how to treat a lady. I know how I like to be treated. No one has ever surprised me.
Well, there's no one stopping you from from back.
for the other team.
But just to be surprised.
I got a lot out of that.
It felt good for me to give that because of the look on their face.
Are you feeling the need to give again because I'm available for that trip?
That's an amazing gift.
I did it to my husband as well, only it was Paris.
Oh, Paris.
Wow, you got the European passport checks.
Like, that is really cool.
Well, someone, I think this is a hint for anybody out there who's going to date Susan.
You need to surprise her with a trip.
Somewhere amazing and incredible that she's never been before.
I don't care if you surprise me with an Airbnb and the beach.
That cat has to hop the fence to get into.
Let me just paint a very clear picture.
Susan is going to, some dude's going to reach out to her and say,
hey, baby, let me take you to Greece and to Paris.
I'm going to get some guy that's going to hold me up at knife point, make me jump hedges,
And then say, you're not done yet.
Let's go for a horse ride.
I can hardly wait.
That's what's in my future.
I think I watch too many movies.
I'm a hopeless romantic.
No, I think it's beautiful.
I love it.
I say never let that go.
No.
Yeah.
Romantic.
Okay, well, back to you, Kathy.
Speaking of trips, speaking of trips, I need to hear about your five-day trek to Machu Picchu.
And when did you do that?
so this is a good story um as i you know i'm a big hiker big walker and my daughter was living in
peru um i had gone to live there with a boyfriend who's not not her husband a different guy
and uh we my husband and i decided to meet them in peru and hike machapichu and for anyone
who has done this hike um it is not for the faint of heart it is hard isn't it is hard isn't
It is a three days, three nights and a tent trek.
Oh, my, me too.
Oh, the food is delicious.
They cook all your meals.
They do have people.
You used to be able to go and hike it on your own.
Now you have to go with, you know, on planned trips.
And they have people that carry your, you know, your backpack.
You're very limited to what you can bring on it.
So we did it.
And I carried.
Kathy, did you sleep in a tent else?
I love camping.
I slept in a tent.
We had fires.
They made the best food.
But I will tell you, and you'll probably not hear this from anyone else, the hike too
Machu Picchu, everyone's seen the picture of where you're standing up and you're looking
down into the city of Machupec, that's the end of the track.
For me, that's when you get to the gate and you go through, then you go down and you look
down into Machu Picchu and you walk among the ruins and all.
For me, it was the trek.
getting to Machu Picchu was extraordinary.
It was the best hike I've ever done.
It was great fun.
Was it a challenge?
Was it hard?
No.
The first day, you know, I was fit.
The altitude, you fly into Kusko and you stay in Kusko for a few days to acclimate.
And then you actually go down before you go up and then you end up down elevation.
The first day, I had a little bit of trouble breathing.
my legs were fine but they said they had all these oxygen tanks and I'm like oh dear God
I love it that you were surrounded by people doing things for you cooking for you making it
well you can't do it that's what I'm saying don't I'm not spoiled you can't do it on your own
anymore it's it's a you know world preservation heritage site whatever so you have to but yeah
the food was delicious I mean it was it truly was a trip of a lifetime I loved it
That's cool.
That sounds fun.
And how did you find that out, do you?
Just the internet, friends, family.
Family, family, and family.
I'll never let my sources.
Listen, so far, you haven't embarrassed me.
There's things that my family could have told you that I would die.
I'm not in the business of embarrassing anyone.
I'm just trying to get more information out of you guys, you know, learning new things.
Speaking of which, Susan,
When did you learn to ride a motorcycle and what made you want to learn?
Like that is so cool.
Yeah, it was so cool.
So my dad rode when I was a kid and I, when I was a young adult, my boyfriends had them.
And I went on yet another trip to Ibiza, a little island off of Spain.
And my boyfriend at the time and I ran it Vespas for 10 days.
Well, I thought I was evil.
I was like, oh, my God, this is awesome.
And I love them to have a space where you can lock your helmet in and keep your handbag.
We went freeways, back roads, lots of different beaches.
50.
I was 50.
And I fell in love with the whole thing.
So when I got back and you have to know me is to know I'm a good driver.
I like fast cars, you know, I've always been the designated driver.
I prefer to drive myself no matter where.
So now I'm in control of a motorcycle.
So I came home and within the first two weeks,
I signed up for motorcycle lessons for the course.
Nice.
And I bought a bike, yeah.
Did you still have the bike?
No, I sold it when I tore my rotator.
I had to sell it.
You just ask me that, Danny.
I also have a motorcycle license.
You do?
I do.
Yeah.
And I also got mine when I was 50.
Wow.
Can I finish, Cap?
I'm still telling my story
I'm curious
What kind of bike you had to do?
Did you ride like a Harley and Ninja?
I wanted a Harley
It was a Yamaha B star
Cool
It was big
Wow
I'll show you a picture
I want to see a picture
I want a picture of both of you now
On a motorcycle
Maybe you guys need to go on a ride together
You have your motorcycle license
Did you do you ride?
Did you?
I did I never had a bike
I rode my sister
That lives in Canada had one
I rode
What kind?
like a big or a sport bike or a no no no it was a two-wheeler um no it was not a tricycle
as they call them no i said a sport no it was not a crotch rocket no it was it was not i um and i got
to be honest i did not love riding um but that that had to do with a friend of mine there's her
picture oh that's gorgeous look at that bike wow do you miss it yeah yeah i do
Would you get back on again?
Yes, I would.
Yeah, even though with the rotator cuff, I imagine, like, you'd maybe ride all the time.
Yeah, I wouldn't do anything tricky, you know.
Yeah.
And I wouldn't ride again.
You wouldn't.
Okay.
I have a friend.
No motorcycles, evidently for Kathy.
No, I had a friend who lost their life, you know.
Yeah.
Motorcycling is really scary and dangerous.
I just can't.
My dad and my grandpa both have or had Harley Road Kings.
And so I.
Oh, wow.
motorcycle family too my grandpa had a really bad fall and so after that he stopped my dad has had one
bad fall but he uh still rides sometimes and i like a soft tail it always makes me hold my breath when
i know they're out there but you know but he loves it so all right i wrote one time for kids with
brain cancer oh you rode all by myself and i was so nervous and i joined these people was like a big
thing. It was, I guess, about 45 minutes away. And my bike didn't have GPS. I had, you know,
printed out of directions and I was so nervous. And I'm great on a highway, but there was
miles of bikes. And when we go down the windy roads, that's the best part of a bike,
taking the back roads. But when I'm driving, I would break before I got there because I was so
afraid of, you know, you just lean into it. And the guy behind me said, why are you not?
comfortable on the turns. I said, you could tell. He said, you're doing fine. Oh, you can tell
when somebody, it's like me on a horse, Susan. It's very obvious when somebody's not
comfortable on the bike. But I did it. I did it. The windy roads are the best. Actually, by
the Bachelor Mansion is like one of the best. PCH right there. Yeah. That's one of like the best
motorcycle. My dad loves it. Absolutely. Yeah.
envision being with a woman. I'll just be honest. I'm Jamel Hill, host of the Sports and
Politics Podcasts, Politics. On this week's episode, I'm joined by basketball legend, Candice Parker,
who stops by to discuss her candid new book, The Can Do Mindset, in which she shares why she
waited two years into marriage to come out. Like, when I close my eyes at night, every night,
I was like, I need to find my prince charming. Like, it was never a princess. Like, that never
entered into my mind, but
you know, as I learned,
sometimes life gives you things
wrapped in a package that you didn't
expect it. And
that was just, you know,
and honestly, it took me a long
time to be okay with myself. Make sure

What do you get when a true crime producer
walks into a comedy club
I know it sounds like the start of a bad joke
but that really was my reality nine years ago
I just normally do straight stand-up
but this is a bit different
on stage stood a comedian
with a story that no one expected to hear
22nd of July 2015
23 year old man
had killed his family.
And then he came to my house.
So what do you get when a true crime producer
walks into a comedy club?
A new podcast called Wisecrack,
where stand-up comedy and murder takes center stage.
Available now.
Listen to Wisecrack on the IHeart Radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
All right, I have one more for you, Kathy.
Okay.
And we'll have one more for Susan as well.
But Kathy, what is the highest you've won playing blackjack in Vegas?
And did you keep it or did you end up losing it?
Oh.
You gamble?
My, okay.
We're going to Lake Tahoe, girlfriend.
I got a free trip.
You're coming.
I, my dad was a big gambler.
I love to go to Vegas.
And so I, but I don't remember losing a lot.
I honestly think the most I've ever won was a couple hundred bucks because I got to be honest with you.
When you see a chip, you know, and it's a $10 table or you're at a $25 table, I'm just like, I see the money there.
I don't see the chip.
So I know how to gamble.
I know the rules of blackjack drives me nuts when I see people, you know, doubling down on sevens.
means like what do you doing but um yeah i'm not i'm not i mean not relax can you shoot craps
kathy yeah it's called throwing dice anybody can shoot craps yeah but you know the game
enough to do it but i'm not you know i'd rather talk wait a minute my my kids have taught me poker
i i don't nah it's not my it's not my favorite all i want to say here is susan you're going to
take me to gamble, but you took
with these creepy guys that you're no longer
with you. I'm taking you to Lake Tahoe to
do it. Lake Tahoe is amazing.
I've been to Lake Tao.
I've been to like that.
Beautiful.
I went. You want to go to Monte Carlo.
There you go. Now we're talking.
I do I get you there.
Susan, I want to hear this story.
This is my last one for you
about how the person doing work
on your house ended up becoming one of your
best friends. Oh my God. Darrell,
he's still here.
He was just here last week.
Oh, I want to hear about Darryl.
The poor man will never leave.
This sounds like a story we need to know.
So, yeah, somebody recommended him when I first moved here, got 30 some years ago.
And poor Darrell, everything, my, Dickie was a major league baseball player.
He was not handy.
When I lost my dad, who was so handy, Darrell filled those shoes.
he's rebuilt this house a hundred times
Can I just tell you
I've met the guy
When I'm calling Susan
She'll be going
Good morning Daryl
She's out there in her pajamas
You know waving at him
They're chit-chatty
Like he's like a member of her family
At this point
He is
He comes to holidays
He's like my brother
Well I got to marry
He met a woman
And I married them
So now Jeannie is part of my family too
I think
I didn't ever want her to feel
uncommon
I mean he's like my buddy
my kids for a time are like mom you're flirting with him i'm not flirting with darrell he's this big he's adorable
shaved head i love this man like he was family but he'll never leave me never
you guys are best now because he still has to work
no that's so cool every time susan does something with a house will go i got i got to go
darrell's coming i got to call darrell's coming it's like truly he sometimes
I meet people come into your life
in like the most unexpected ways
and so that's such a beautiful story
of how like you guys are now so close
Susan could you send them to me
I've got a backed up sink in my bathroom
could I old Daryl come up fly up
that would be Anthony he was the plumber
I need a Daryl in my life
it sounds like
I got a lot of things to build right now
Darrell so he just redid my basement
again he did that three times
and he just put a brand new deck on for me
okay amazing that's see that wasn't
so scary those questions right now I thought you heard so it could have been a lot worse for me
we got hidden things we don't know my kids know my kids know some I really thought I
really thought I'm dead my kids share I mean you clearly want to talk about it no I would
I would die I mean truly I've done some embarrassing things that my kids were you ever
ask what's the most
embarrassing thing
that ever happened to you?
I'm asking.
Me? Yeah. What do you ask?
You're asking me to tell you the most embarrassing
thing. Uh-huh.
Susan? I love you.
You're not going to do it. Not even
on our friendship. Am I going to do that?
No. Why? I would.
Yeah, I'm sure you would. No.
Danny? How about you?
I am one of those weird people who are like, I don't get super
embarrassed. Like I just, I roll with the punches, you know what I mean? Like, there's nothing that's
what it is. Nothing that really embarrasses me too bad. I've always been, whenever anyone
asked me that my most embarrassing moment is, I'm like probably something that happened like
yesterday and I'm over it by today, you know? But yeah, we'll have to do, we'll clearly have to do
a part two of this then where I do some more digging. We'll circle back in a couple months when I
can get back to my sources, you know, but we're not done. Especially being held at gunpoint. That's all I'm going to
give you. Oh my God. I don't even want to hear that one. I don't know about
Mexican border. Oh my God. Oh my God. Susan. It's a good
story. It sounds like it. We'll circle back in part
two on that story, but we're not done here today. So I
had you guys answer some questions. We're going to play a version of the
newlywed game, but bestie edition, okay, with Kathy and Susan.
Susan, the little moral quandary coded, okay? So
wait, Danny, I just got to
tell you, give her the prompt, repeat it, repeat it again.
We're going to be good. We're going to be good.
So I ask you a series of questions. Now you're going to guess the other person's answer.
Okay. That's the hard part. When you ask me the questions on my brain.
Okay. I know. It's all about Susan. But we're going to start with Kathy. Who did Susan say is her
celebrity crush? Oh, Bradley Cooper. Yeah. Is that right? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Because she met him. That was easy.
All right. Now, Susan, who did Kathy?
say is her celebrity crush.
You can just
take a guess.
We've actually
talked about this. I know we have that my
brain's not remember. I remember the
conversation. Yeah, she actually
does know. G.C. is her
initials. Those are some, that's
a big clue.
Okay, how about this?
He's married to a beautiful, skinny
woman, dark hair.
Half of Hollywood.
Yeah, really. Come on, say it.
George Clooney.
That's right.
You should have said this gray spiked here.
Yeah, there we go.
The haircut.
Kathy.
Like, we said one, but we got a few answers.
What's one thing that Susan can't live without?
So if you get one of the food.
What kind of food?
Italian food.
Pizza and steak.
There they are.
Come on.
I'm doing pretty well.
Pretty well.
She wins moral con quandary, too.
All right.
And Susan, what's one thing Kathy can't live without?
Tequila.
Listen, bitch.
Are you serious?
Her family.
Yeah, there you go.
That's the answer.
Okay, so you knew it.
We just got a little fun on the side, too.
Well, she likes to.
I mean, tequila might be a close second.
Close second.
The family brings the tequila.
Yeah, that's true.
Okay.
Or vodka or white wine.
Whatever.
All right.
Kathy, what color does Susan think that she looks best in?
Hot pink.
Yeah, that's one of the answers.
Yeah, that's one of the ones.
I know this girl.
What else?
What else?
What other ones?
Black and white polka dots?
We have black on here.
What is my favorite summer color?
White.
You like pink?
Hot pink.
Oh, you all love yellow.
She loves orange.
She loves orange.
Yellow and orange.
They're both on there.
I know her.
When I answered the questions, they wanted one answer, I couldn't do it.
A couple of them I had to write more than one answer.
Kathy's favorite is blue.
Yes.
Didn't even have to ask the question.
I know, I'm telling you.
You do it.
Susan, no more moral quantity.
We're going to start playing this game.
You guys are like kind of tied up right now.
All right.
Kathy, if Susan could pick your next vacation, where would it be?
Well, I, we're going to St. Martin.
So that's what...
That's okay.
Oh.
If she could...
It's somewhere in Europe.
Where?
Probably Italy.
Yes!
All right.
And Susan, what about you of Kathy
to pick your next vacation?
Pick it in Italy.
France.
And she said she did spill the beans a little already.
I did.
She had to listen.
Same word.
Yeah.
I misunderstood the question.
I thought it was where is your next thing?
Yeah, I see.
Okay, we're going to.
We both love St. Martin.
We're going to put our drama hats on really quick.
Happy, what did Susan say your biggest fight was about?
Me interrupting.
Is that right?
Yes.
And Susan, what's...
And try to tell me what to do?
Yeah, and Susan, what did Kathy say?
She was sorry, and then she loves me.
But she knows more than things.
She's not interested in the question.
She's struggling.
She's struggling.
What's your answer to the same question?
What did Kathy say your biggest fight was about?
About me?
Wait, what is she supposed to be thinking about?
You're supposed to be thinking about what you were doing so well, Susan.
You were doing so well.
Same question.
So like what did Kathy say that your guys' biggest fight was about?
We don't really fight.
I don't remember what I wrote.
Susan, I don't remember what I wrote.
We both wrote the same thing.
So, I mean, the interrupting.
Oh, yeah, because you do interrupt.
me. I think I wrote she doesn't admit. If I don't interrupt you, I never have a chance to talk, okay?
I'm learning from the best. We'll talk later, Missy. All right. Next one. We know each other a little
except I have a forgetful. I did forget George Clooney. Clearly best. Yeah. She forgot. She knew it
was George Clooney. She just forgot. I did forgot. That's okay. We were just warming up.
Because we do. We do this. We sit down and ask questions to each other and how we think about.
that sometimes we're on opposite ends
of the spectrum, but
it's scary, Susan, it's not as much as it used
to be. You've seen the light.
You've seen the light. You are on
my side much more of the time now.
I'm going to get Kathy to make out
the backseat of a car before she's
over.
Okay, back.
Not with you. I'm not.
No, that's not what I was saying.
All right, go, Danny. Go.
We're Flor and Danny over here.
Yeah, I'm just having, I'll just sit back.
You guys want to say.
takeover again. Susan gives me a hard time because on the show, you know, I have not had sex
upside down in the cockpit of an airplane. I'm sorry. Upside down. That's your exaggerator. You
have it made out and got felled up in the car. I did too. It was in the front seat. But apparently
Susan has an issue with getting felt up and making out it has to be in the backseat or it doesn't
count. I don't know what the problem. I wasn't in the back seat. I didn't. I didn't.
Again, you were talking about me.
You said, I've never done that.
Oh, my God.
Susan, you have been felt up on every continent, I feel sure.
She wanted ice cream so bad that day on the show, she got none until she said,
house cleaning.
Maybe you should have a podcast together or something.
You know, someone to talk about.
Give us leeway, watch out, world.
Yeah, watch out.
All right.
Next one, Kathy, what is Susan's biggest feed?
You know what? I don't even remember. Let's see, what is her biggest fear? I would say, I don't want to say getting old because I don't think that's your biggest fear.
What that are you doing? Being alone, maybe? I don't know.
She's doing her. Snakes. She don't like snakes.
And sharks. Wait, I know. Oh, that's right. I don't know you don't like snakes. Nancy doesn't like sharks either.
Get these two to go in the water is ridiculous.
Like, shorts.
No, I go way now.
I did not know you're afraid of snakes.
Yeah.
You wouldn't have liked the date on Jen season then where they had to get the big snake put on them.
I don't love my.
I mean, if it's a, you know, showpiece.
Can I just tell you?
My husband would not go into the reptile house at the zoo.
That's how afraid he was of snakes.
And so, and by the way, next time you're talking to sweet little Kyle, that son of mine,
who dishes you out info?
he's scared to death of snakes
I'm sending them people are
I'm sending them one
Danny are you afraid of snakes
no I'm not but my husband hates them
I dated a guy once who had snakes
like pet snakes and he kept them in his bathtub
and I didn't like that because there was no
like lid and I was like
I can't come over
I watched my friend feed them the mice
Danny you dated a guy
with
snakes in his bathtub
Susan, can we say in unison,
Red Flag?
It was.
It was a red flag.
Yeah.
That's not my husband because he doesn't.
Good choice.
I told you.
I'm a big hiker.
I've told you that.
And I have hiked in Big Ben National Park,
which is in Texas.
You've seen a lot of snakes, have you.
I have crossed paths with rattlesnakes twice in Big Ben.
Bears scare me too, bears.
Anything that I can't get away from.
Okay.
Turning the table is Susan, what is Kathy's biggest fear?
She has no fear.
I don't know what I wrote.
Fearless, horses.
She wrote, I'm not really a fearful person, but going bald.
What?
I can hook you up, babe.
Don't ever worry about that.
I got you.
I don't want to go bald.
She is fearless.
I don't have a lot of fears, though.
It's true.
Horses.
Well, now we know horses.
Yeah, but I don't.
Write it down, Danny.
Write it.
I don't even get near the horses.
I got motorcycles.
All right.
We got a couple more.
Kathy, what dog breed does Susan think she'd be if she were a dog?
To me, there's only one dog breed she could be if she were a dog.
It's pretty one.
Well, actually, there's two dogs.
You're going to laugh.
One would be a poodle because Susan, I'll tell you why, Susan is a neat freak and poodles
don't shed. So, you know, she'd have to be a poodle or one of those, I don't know what they're,
those little miniature things that have hair down to the ground and they have little pink
bows on their head. Maltese, that's my champ. He passed a few years back. A multi, whatever. I don't
know what that was like cockapoo, peekapoos, those little Pekingese things with the, you know,
with the hair that they were, they strut around. Susan, you wrote golden doodle. So you weren't so
I don't like the golden doodle.
Oh, see, and she likes golden doodles.
My mom used to have.
They don't shed, though.
Golden doodles also don't shed.
Susan. That's why I like.
Susan, I have to break the news to you, dearie.
Yeah.
A golden doodle.
A golden doodle is part.
It's not just part.
You're like a boxer.
What did you say?
She likes a boxer.
Yes, that's what she wrote.
I love boxers.
But that's what he knows that because I grew up with boxers.
Well, she, well, because we had this conversation.
But I love, do you know why I love boxers?
She likes kitty cats now.
And her cats, I don't like cats, not even a little bit.
And I've been to her house.
You don't even know they're there unless they whine in the morning to eat.
But they don't bother either.
Wait, can I tell you?
And there's no hair in her house either.
I vacuum regularly.
I like boxers because they are, you don't know why, Susan, but you're right about.
You told me they're very smart.
They are smart, but what I wrote down was they're loyal and their, what's the other thing?
I wrote, loyal and strong.
Strong. Strong.
And protect them.
Yeah. And I grew up with them and my daughter has one and he loves me at 6.30 this morning.
They slobber a lot. That's what I hate about them.
I hate that.
They're great dogs. I do have boxes. Okay. I have one more for each of you.
Obviously, you're the same question.
Kathy, what does Susan think her best physical quality is? And Susan, what does Kathy think
her best? So you're answering like for what you think the person.
I think Susan will say her best quality
It's between her eyes and her teeth
No
She didn't write my smile and my boobs
I was going to say your boobs
But since you're having some surgery done
I figured they're not your boobs
We're going to talk about that
Wait a minute
Your boobs I was going to say that
And what's the other one you said?
My smile
Well that's your teeth
No
Yeah that's what I meant
They're movie star teeth
implants i had to buy them but susan what did kathy say her brain her physical her what do you see my brain
is my brain hanging out good lord woman can you play the smart i'm not going to think i think sus me if
you put 10 people in a room wait a minute you put 10 people in a room and ask them for a physical
attribute they are not going to say brains because you can't see them your legs what do you think
at your boobs
you wrote your smile as well
I wrote my smile
I mean you both have such gorgeous smiles it makes sense
those are my favorites for both of you so
they make me have lines around my eyes
but that's a good thing that means
you've been smiling a lot yeah
it means I need more Botox
and that too I need to put the side of my face
and a vice
well that that is the game
that is the game okay wait
so can I just tell you Kathy's coming here in a couple
of weeks yes and I'm going to take
to my guy.
She's going to do my hair.
And yes, I am.
But we're going to go have a little consultation, and we may be going into surgery together.
Fun.
We're just going to do a little lift things.
No, no, no.
On me, they're going to do a lift on her.
They're going to reduction and lift.
We talked about this with Rachel Rechia on the podcast, I believe.
So now, when I say we, I mean you, I just get to listen.
December 30th.
can I just say I've already had one breast reduction done and I think this is a really cruel
joke that they grow back I know well I've always wanted one I've always wanted a breast
reduction and now that I know they grow back I'm kind of like what's the point but it takes years
oh it takes years I had my breast reduction done and mine didn't grow back to the full deal
and I don't want to be smaller than I'm I just don't want them I want to be able to yeah I want
You know, I want them up where my chin is.
Right now, I am in a lot of pain on that front.
So I definitely feel you guys.
Maybe your milk comes in, sister.
Yeah.
I'm going to be like, I need a breast reduction yesterday.
But I figured I would wait until after kids and stuff.
When you're all done kids.
Yeah.
Oh, no.
Literally, my daughter has well endowed.
Let's just say that.
And after, Susan, I forgot to tell you this.
The other day I was over there and she was trying on clothes.
and she's very thin.
I mean, she's much thinner now than before she got pregnant.
And she looks great.
But she goes, God, Mom, look at my boobs.
They're just like completely deflated.
I said, oh, honey, that's just the beginning of what children do to your body.
Right?
It's just unreal.
I have a lot to look forward to then.
Well, this was so fun.
Thank you guys for having me.
Thank you for coming.
I pressed the button by accident.
