This is an I-Heart podcast.
I'm Jamel Hill,
hosts the Sports and Politics Podcasts,
and on the latest episode of Spolitics,
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries joins me
for a candid conversation
about the state of the Democratic Party.
What do Republicans say to you privately
that they won't say publicly?
Many of them are in fear of their political lives.
We continue to say to them,
you were elected to defend your constituents
and there's life after Congress.
Make sure to listen to this episode of Spolitics,

Hi, my name is Enya Umanzor.
And I'm Drew Phillips.
And we run a podcast called Emergency Intercom.
If you're a crime junkie and you love crimes, we're not the podcast for you.
But if you have unmedicated ADHD...
Oh my God, perfect.
And want to hear people with mental illness, psychobabble.
Yes, yes.
Then Emergency Intercom is the podcast for you.

What would you do if one bad decision forced you to choose between a maximum security prison
or the most brutal boot camp designed to be hell on earth?
Unfortunately for Mark Lombardo, this was the choice he faced.
He said, you are a number, a New York state number, and we own you.

Hey everyone. Welcome back to Bet Your Happy Hour. I'm Joe. And I'm Serena. And today we are
recapping another episode of Jen's season. We are headed into hometowns after this episode.
So this is a pretty big one. I thought we had one more. I was watching it like, are we really
about to send three guys home this week? I think there's one more, but we do not. It always goes
quicker than I expect. And then later,
in the week we have Jeremy who is going to hometowns will be on this podcast but before we get
on to all that we have our producer here because she has some news she wants to break yes and
we haven't heard this news yet we're breaking it on the podcast so you guys are hearing it for the
first time just as we are so welcome welcome unknown producer thank you guys
anonymous producer anonymous producer um you know we don't usually do this here but i wanted to break
the fourth wall a little bit because we got some real
exciting news today. You guys have been hosting Happy Hour now for what, like just over a year?
Just over a year. Just over a year. Yeah, just over a year. Well, this morning, we found out that Bachelor
Happy Hour has gotten its first ever People's Choice Podcast Award nomination. No way, really?
Oh my God! You have officially been nominated in the TV and film category with some decent competitors,
but, you know, I might be biased.
Who else is in it?
Who else is nominated it?
Bravo outsider, HBO's Succession podcast,
HBO's Last of Us podcast,
Marvel Cinematic Universe podcast,
and Bachelor Happy Hour.
Wow.
That is so cool.
And also so crazy
that we're in the same category
as Succession and The Last of Us.
Well, I do have to admit,
this is my fourth nomination
for a People's Choice Award.
and I have fucking struck out every time.
Maybe it's fourth time to charm.
You know what?
I wasn't with Serena though.
I was always by myself.
I think that's the magic touch right there.
I have a good feeling.
Thank you, everyone, for listening and downloading and subscribing
because if it wasn't for you guys,
we wouldn't be up for people's choice awards or have a job.
Thank you.
Yeah.
Thank you so much to everyone that listens to this podcast for welcoming Joe and I on as the
host for this past.
year. We really enjoy chatting with you every single week. And it's obviously called the People's Choice
for a reason. We would not be here without all of our listeners. So we love you guys. We appreciate
you. And thank you so much. This is so cool. This is my first award nomination. What were you
nominated for? You were nominated for reality start of the year, the year that we got together
because I went to People's Choice Awards with you. And then, okay, so maybe this would be my only
my third because I was I was nominated for competition reality show as well I think my first time
on Bachelor in Paradise okay so I went from I went from competition reality contestant to reality
star and to podcast and oh and two oh and two and that now podcast so third times the charm I think third
times the charm Joe and like I said you have serena here so it's it's meant to be nice
Well, congrats guys. Super proud of you.
Thank you. Wow. This is so cool. Wait. Has Bachelor happy I ever been nominated before?
This is the first time.
Wow. I'm so excited. Thank you.
It's been a wonderful experience having you guys join the squad. Very, very grateful for you.
Thanks, unknown producer. Wow. That's so cool. I'm so excited.
Yeah. Okay. Let's get into the episode, shall we?
Let's do it.
Let me go to my notes because I take.
Notes.
I take notes too.
Okay, so we are in, well, first we see a teaser of what's to come with potentially
Sam.
Yep.
Looks like Jen's pissed.
She's like, where's Sam?
Teaser.
Done.
We are in Seattle, Washington.
Yeah.
Honestly, this was a good teaser because genuinely, the entire episode I was like, how do we get
from, you know, romantic, bliss, ferocious love with this dude to.
her hunting him down in the boys bedroom yeah like the entire episode was like but i don't understand
how we get there like what is going on truly i didn't i didn't either but we find out later in the
episode which we will we will talk about um Seattle looks i've never been to seattle but it looks
like such a pretty city i've been to seattle you would really like Seattle because it's kind
of got a similar vibe to Vancouver and you do like that moody rainy well
I do.
That's where I thrive in the rain.
Yep, in the gloomy rain.
But I didn't know that it was called the Emerald City.
That was news to me and that it's green all year round.
I feel like, you know, there's a lot of cities that are green all year round.
I don't know how we really decided that Seattle was going to be called the Emerald City because of that.
I don't think there are that many cities that are green year around.
L.A.
L.A. is not really green.
Yeah, I guess.
It's more, like, sandy.
Sandy, it's more tan.
It is more tan.
Yeah, it's more tan and beige.
Vancouver's green.
Yeah, I guess it would be any city that has a lot of rainfall and a lot of nature.
But growing up, anyone that I've ever met that was from Seattle, they've always explained
it to me as just a very green city.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
Oh, okay.
News to me.
Maybe it's just a United States thing, though.
Maybe it didn't make a...
its way to Canada. And then we see we have a familiar face who's sitting in a coffee shop.
Yeah. Of course, because I have to drink coffee in Seattle, which I actually just stole Serena's
coffee right now, but feel free to ask for them. Yeah, I did notice that. I mean, I knew we were
sharing, but you've been holding it as far away from me as possible since we started this episode.
Thank you. Charity is back. Charity, the ex-bachelorette. And she is here to give Jen some
advice, which is probably a great time in the season for that to happen.
I think so as well.
She looks amazing.
I love her outfit.
And I just think charity took a very, I'm trying to think of the words.
Like, she took a very serious approach to the journey.
I felt like she was always asking really great questions to the men.
She was taking every conversation with the most intention, the most focus.
And I think that she is a great grounding source for Jen at this point where we're about to kind of switch into the most serious part of the journey, which would be hometown.
So I think this is a great week for them to have a conversation and for Jen to get some really great wisdom from charity.
Wisdom. Yes. Yes. Wisdom and advice. Because like hanging out with Charity and Dotten in person, like you're like, this is, you're like, okay, this makes sense.
really into each other they really like you could like it just it's works they have a really great
relationship yeah and you could tell like the foundation of the relationship is there yeah and the love
is there as well so charity did know what she was doing when she was on when she was leading the show
um jen mentions that she feels like she's worried about marcus sam and jeremy yes she said which
is great because those are the two guys that get a one-on-one and then we see she talks to Sam
in the group date. Yeah. She's worried that Sam is kind of a just a physical connection,
which honestly I'm worried about as well for her. I'm glad that we're on the same page there
because it really just seems like the sexual chemistry is off the charts, but I don't know
if I've seen anything that showcases like a deep long-term connection there. And then
she's wondering if Jeremy can get a little bit deeper and she feels like Marcus's
holding back, which I feel like we've seen all of these things. And I feel like we get closure
and all of these things in the episode alongside Jen. Yeah, I was I, I, from what we've seen of
Jeremy, I really like him. Same. But I didn't think he was going to stick around. No, when he got
the one-on-one date, I thought he was going to be the guy that gets the one-on-one date that
gets sent home on the one-on-one date. You were like he's getting sent home for sure. I didn't think
he was getting sent home. But I do think it's really rare for someone this late in the season to get a
one-on-one date who hasn't had one yet and stay and go to home. Yeah. Yeah, that's why. And it had
nothing to do with like his character or him at all. I was just like, I just feel like he's going home
because of how this is set up. Yeah, how the structure of the show usually works. Usually someone this
week gets a second one-on-one date. There's usually a second one-on-one date. And there's usually
someone that has not had one yet that gets it that gets sent home. That's, you know, often how
things play out. So it was nice to see a play out differently. And I really like Jeremy. I'm excited he's
in her top four.
Yeah, same.
I never envision being with a woman.
I'll just be honest.
I'm Jamel Hill,
host of the Sports and Politics Podcasts,
Spolitics.
On this week's episode,
I'm joined by
basketball legend,
Candice Parker,
who stops by to discuss
her candid new book,
The Can Do Mindset,
in which she shares
why she waited two years
into marriage to come out.
Like, when I close my eyes
at night, every night,
I was like,
I need to find
my prince charming like it was never a princess like that never entered into my mind but you know as I
learned sometimes life gives you things wrapped in the package that you didn't expect it and that was just
you know and honestly it took me a long time to be okay with myself make sure to listen to this week's
episode of Spolitics on the iHeart radio app apple podcast or wherever you get your podcast
Imagine that you're on an airplane and all of a sudden you hear this.
Attention passengers, the pilot is having an emergency and we need someone, anyone to land this plane.
Think you could do it?
It turns out that nearly 50% of men think that they could land the plane with the help of air traffic control.
And they're saying like, okay, pull this, do this, pull that, turn this.
It's just... I can do my eyes close.
I'm Manny. I'm Noah.
This is Devon.
And on our new show, no such thing.
we get to the bottom of questions like these.
Join us as we talk to the leading expert on overconfidence.
Those who lack expertise
lack the expertise they need
to recognize that they lack expertise.
And then as we try the whole thing out for real.
Wait, what?
Oh, that's the runway.
I'm looking at this thing.
Listen to no such thing on the IHeart Radio app,

So first things first, Marcus gets a one-on-one, and it is a Wicked themed, which Serena loved.
We actually saw, I saw Wicked for the first time last year.
We also, at our gym, the actress that is going to play Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West.
She's been in our gym multiple times.
Yeah, she's there on a regular basis, and she's wearing all green every time I see her.
Well, we did have a conversation after we left the gym.
we're like do why do we think she's wearing all green and and i was like well brands probably
gifted her workout clothes in green yeah definitely i'm sure everyone is shipping her a ton of green sets
yeah i'm also sure that she's just probably embracing the role to the fullest yeah maybe she maybe she's
a yeah like a method actor and she's kind of just like i'm staying in this role until until the
movie comes out. Yeah, I know we're doing filming, but I'm actually going to stay in character
until all the press is done in the movie. Wasn't that kind of what Austin Butler did? Or he just
No, that was a whole other situation. But I know what you're saying. But I'm super excited for Wicked.
I love how movies have gotten so creative with their marketing too. I feel like this is kind of in line
with like how much Barbie marketed their movie. Yeah. I mean, the two main actresses who are
playing Glinda and Alphabet are everywhere in pink and green. They're at the Olympics in pink and green.
They're on every red carpet.
It's amazing.
It's so fun.
I've seen Wicked like four times.
Every time they sing, because I knew you, I haven't changed for the good.
I cry.
So we see a yellow brick road.
So if you're not familiar with Wicked.
Oh, yeah.
Maybe we should address that.
Well, I mean, if you're not familiar with Wicked, it is the prequel to the Wizard of Oz.
Yeah, see, I remembered that.
Good job.
So hence, the Yellow Brick Road.
road. And on the yellow brick road, we see two bachelor alums. Kelsey and Daisy are there. And I'm kind of
watching this. And in my head, I'm like, I wonder how I don't smoke weed. But if I was high,
I wonder how I would feel about all this. Is that what you were thinking? Yeah. That's hilarious. That's what I was
thinking of because I was like this is a little trippy uh in a way I because I could see myself
watching it like like really like digging into it like what's happening right what is what is actually
going on um but yeah we see Kelsey Kelsey and daisy uh which is nice to see them back on our screens
they're good friends um and so Marcus and Jen kind of walk through the yellow brick road
they're like playing these little games it's fun to watch and then Chelsea is
is not her name.
Charity.
Charity.
Charity is at the end of the Yellow Brick Road to like start a new game.
And yeah, that's kind of like that's kind of it.
But we see like I would say the biggest part of this is like Jen says she likes to take things fast in a relationship.
And Marcus says he likes to take things slow.
That kind of gets revealed when they're playing one of the games that are on the Yellow Brick Road.
Yeah.
My thing with these games is they make them pick one box.
and every time I'm like but what was in the other box
like okay you pick spicy pepper is sick
like what was under sweet
I would have oh you want to know
I want to know both I would I'd be like let's just
I guess that really defeats the purpose of the game
it does but I want to know
but I'm with you I'm a curious person myself
but they get to charity spot
after having this kind of like fast slow
conversation
and
it's a balloon popping game
yeah
in the most simplest of terms.
And it reveals different family-centered gifts.
Is that how you would describe it?
Yeah.
And we see Marcus's sister.
And he gets pretty emotional.
At the end of the Elbrick Road, we see Trista standing there, the OG Bachelorette.
So I feel like it was like a nice walkdown memory lane seeing all of our Bacheloration favorites.
And then, of course, ending with Trista, who's such an icon.
Yeah, we have four cameos.
And yeah, it seemed like a really fun date, but I think it opened up the door for the night portion of the date because now Mark is, you know, he admitted that he likes to take things slower, but now it's kind of time to really open up, which I feel like he, I feel like he's one of the guys that has opened up to Jen.
And now he tells a story about his past and like, I mean, yeah, it was a very sad story.
I really felt for him just like hearing it and that that's it's just like I can't imagine a rougher
childhood and his parents um he basically says like his parents left him and his sister at child care
and just never came back yeah um and they bounce from foster house foster home to foster home
and he took on the role of big brother, father for his sister.
And yeah, this is something I don't really talk about with a lot of my friends,
but something you should know.
Yeah, I mean, rough, rough.
Yeah, it's really heavy.
I can totally sympathize with why that's something that he doesn't open up to a lot of people about.
I mean, he opened up on his first date with Jen about his experience in the military.
and now opening up about his childhood, you can see that there's a lot of wounds there.
But I think that it's really powerful that he opened up about it.
I'm sure there's going to be people watching that connect with his story for sure.
And I think that the concern going into the state for Jen was that she felt like she was moving faster or ahead of Marcus in her feelings.
And I would imagine that him opening up about his past and maybe why he's so guarded on top of his experiences as an adult, his experience as a child, his experience as a,
child have likely results in him putting a lot of walls up and guards up to protect himself.
So I think it was a really powerful date and it definitely progressed their relationship.
And I think that going into his hometown, it's going to let Jen see even more about who he is
through his relationship with his sister.
And yeah, I think watching their relationship, I do get what she's saying.
Like I haven't seen Marcus be like, I'm really falling for you and I can't wait for you to
meet my family and more of these like gushy emotions come out from him yet but i do think hearing
about his past kind of explains why he is maybe struggling to express those things yeah yeah and i
think it's fair i mean i do think jen really likes him but if she didn't still can't send them
home after that you can't you know like i was like you cannot send this man home after that that that's
story that's when you say heavy um to me since i've been watching the show and there's been a lot of
traumatic and in in heavy stories on you know every season uh this was one of the for me one of the
heavier ones i'm like wow that's definitely that's tough uh so i felt for him but anyways she uh she feels
good about where they're at and she feels good about going to hometowns with marcus so he does
get a hometown rose, which was the right move either way.
I think they have great chemistry.
They have a great relationship.
They look really good together.
And I think if she is into him and she's starting to see a future with him,
meeting his family is, if it goes well, is going to push their relationship forward a lot.
Would you have guessed Marcus to be in the top four?
I think so, yeah.
Yeah.
Maybe not after their first.
one-on-one date. I mean, it was so early on. But through the middle of the season, I feel like
we've seen their relationship move forward at a steady pace. But like I said, he's not the most
articulate with his feelings out of all the guys. So I feel like I'm going more off of what Jen's
saying about their relationship, which sometimes has a little more weight to it when the lead
is like, I'm really into this person. I feel like I'm like further along than them.
because they have so many guys to choose from.
If they're saying that about someone,
I feel like it's a hint that they are really invested in that person.
And they want to get there with them.
True.
Okay, so let's go to the group date,
which is at a radio station in Seattle.
And we have Jason and Molly Meznik there,
more Bachelor alum.
And it's a call back to his season.
Molly was a radio host.
In Seattle.
In Seattle.
That's where they live.
So it's kind of like perfect setup.
I wonder if they chose Seattle just because of this.
Yeah, they were like, you know who we want to see?
Jason and Molly on the radio.
So we're going to fly everyone to Seattle.
But this is, so the date's kind of set up.
It was like, okay, let's see how much you guys know Jen.
And what are you laughing at?
This date was crazy for so many reasons.
But it was a fun date to watch.
And I like the concept of the radio date for sure.
but putting myself in that situation
and I think someone even said this
like it felt like it was like a
who likes Jen Moore competition
because they're all just sitting there like
but that's kind of what it is anyways
talking about how they like Jen
yeah
well all the guys seemed like to
pass with flying colors
except for Sam
who they're like okay well
Sam's
kind of spiraling a little bit
something's off
let's keep them in here
and see where this goes.
Where this is going.
And it's funny because before the date starts,
they're asking, like, who do you have your eyes on this date?
And she's telling them Sam M, like, this is our dynamic.
It's super passionate, but I want it to go deeper.
And she's saying this, but you don't,
I don't get the vibe that she's like nervous.
It's not going to go deeper.
Do you know what I mean?
I think she thinks, like, I'm going to open the floor for this.
The chemistry's there.
We just need to, like, create the environment for him to, like,
really expresses feelings and like deepen that emotional connection between the two of us like
I'm not getting any sort of nerves about it from her but then seeing how it plays out
alongside Jen as a viewer it's just like what is going on like what is happening on this date
right now yeah it's so I guess it seems that Sam is saying a lot but Jen's not really buying
that he's there
or that there's any like real meaning behind what he's saying
and that is you know
unfortunately for Sam that is kind of how it's coming across
like as I'm watching this
he is he throws a lot of adjectives out there
and the ferocious love and unhinged love
or you know all these different types of love
but it's like Jen's like but do you know me
yeah and I think that the
trigger for it all was the fact that he said Jen was selfless. And then they send all these other guys
of the room. They're watching on the screen, which was hilarious. And she's saying, okay, like,
you're using this adjective to describe me. You're saying I'm selfless. Can you tell me what makes
you feel that I'm selfless? What have you seen from me or in me that made you use that word
to describe me? And he just cannot answer the question. And I don't know if he panicked or
he freaked out or he just genuinely did not have an answer to support his claim.
But it's just like a snowball effect of a total wreck.
Yes.
But in, I want to ask you this, because kind of in Sam's defense a little bit here, the other guys
before they left the room said how they felt about Jen.
And it's not like Jen's like, well, Grant, do you really feel that way about me?
that you just said that like can you explain could you explain it so like yeah but i mean they are in
the room saying i mean spencer did say like i could name five things right now to describe why jen
selfless and truthfully like i get it's nerve-racking be put on the spot and explain your feelings like
i'm not someone who's particularly comfortable talking about their feelings in depth but i feel like
in that situation you default to the most simple answers like you're selfless in the way that like
you're putting us before yourself in these situations or you know you're so that's what he should have just said
instead of saying selfless just say like give give an explanation of something that she did that showcase that she was selfless that's all she wanted like she wasn't looking for like an essay or an a plus plus scholarly and so like she just wanted him to be able to say like i saw you do this
and i saw that as a selfless act and that showed me that you're a selfless person yeah it's it really seems like jen
was like I think she was questioning Sam
but I think she was really into him
and I think Sam had the really
fuck up to not go to hometowns
totally and that's what happened
yeah because this does
I don't know you know and like we see
so this ends the state ends
and Jen is not like in a good place
and it ends on him essentially grabbing her face
and just like a making out with her
in the middle of this conversation
that's going so poorly and I feel like that's his go-to is just physical when he doesn't know
how to explain his feelings but like I feel like she pulled away from that makeup with a little bit
of the ick and also just like but you still didn't answer my question buddy yeah and I still did
not answer what I'm asking and I feel like he left thinking like it ended well yeah so it just felt
like he was deflecting and he was saying a lot but he wasn't saying anything yeah that was answering
anything she was asking. It was just
a mess of a conversation. But I feel
like we said that on their one-on-one
date that their communication was really
janky. Like the whole time
the communication is so off. Like they are not
communicating effectively. They just
seem like they're totally on different pages.
And it felt like this
the same time, like they have no
ability to communicate effectively.
And I'm not saying like it's, I mean, it looks
like it's Sam M's fault in this situation,
but like they're clearly just not compatible.
No, no. And it gets worse.
we'll talk about that because we go to the night portion and the one thing to note
Jen has a conversation with Devin and this is the first time Jen's expressed how she's
feeling to another guy and she tells Devin I'm falling for you yeah and that's the first one
we've seen yeah which I think is big devons really came out his come out of this shining
at this point yeah he had a rough start yeah he his ice cream
Supreme poll is winning, and he's leading the pack right now for sure.
Yeah, I'd be curious.
But they make sense, and they have chemistry.
They have, to me, they have real chemistry.
They do, and they have good communication.
Like when they're speaking, their conversations really flow.
I do wonder if Marcus had said to Jen, I'm falling for you, if she would have said it back.
Because I feel like, I don't know, I'm just curious to see where that relationship lies in comparison to Devin's.
Because I do feel like Devin's more emotionally open.
that Marcus is. But I do think she really likes both of those guys. Yeah.
I'm Jamil Hill, host of the Sports and Politics Podcasts Politics. And on the latest episode
of Politics, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries joins me for a candid conversation about
the state of the Democratic Party. What do Republicans say to you privately that they won't
say publicly? Many of them are in fear of their political lives. And that's been part of
the challenge. But we continue to say to them, you were elected to defend
your constituents to stand up for your constituents. And there's life after Congress. And you should
be willing to actually want to be able to look back on your time in the House of Representatives
knowing that you can keep your head held high because you did the right thing. Donald Trump
is gone in three and a half years. But their legacy or their failure to stand up to the
extremism and the unprecedented assault on America as we know it will be with them forever.

I'm Noah.
This is Devin.
And on our new show, No Such Thing, we get to the bottom of questions like these.
Join us as we talk to the leading expert on overconfidence.
Those who lack expertise lack the expertise they need to recognize that they lack expertise.
And then, as we try the whole thing out for real.
Wait, what?
Oh, that's the run right.
I'm looking at this thing.
See?
Listen to no such.

so and then we see
so then like Grant is really into Jen
you know he ends up going she ends up sending him home later
but like you could kind of tell like it's just
it's almost there but it's not
and that's unfortunate because we do see a lot
of Grant and like he like he seems to
be somebody that really wants to end up with somebody
and he took this serious?
Yeah, he seems like a really genuine guy.
I mean, we liked him when we interviewed him, but even just watching him through this process,
I do think he took his relationship with Jen in the process very seriously.
Yeah, me too.
Me too.
Okay, so Sam and Jen have another conversation and again, like, complete, I don't, I don't know
what Sam's doing.
No, I don't know either.
Like, they seem to be on two.
completely different pages.
I think Jen is just like, how do you, like, how do you feel about me?
And Sam is kind of just like, I think he's just like too self-involved at this point,
but he tells her, I love you.
And she's like, what?
Stop.
And he's like, no, he says stop.
She goes, Sam.
He goes, stop.
I was like, no, no.
The thing too is I believe we said at last recap. Sam M from what we've been seeing has been handling these one-on conversations with Jen pretty well all season. And I feel like it's him comforting her a lot of the time on these group dates where he's kind of shined. But when he's put in the hot seat, he's just crumbled. And I would have loved for him to come to the night portion of this group date having really thought about the questions that she had asked him on the radio. Maybe he'd been like, look, you put me on the spot. I was nervous. I was really nervous.
I panicked, I was just word vomiting, and I've taken some time.
I've thought about your questions and I want to answer them.
Like, I want to tell you why I think that you're selfless and I want to show you that, like,
I can answer these questions.
But he just came so unprepared, despite the fact, I don't know what he thought was going
to go down on this night portion, but maybe he just thought it was going to be like fun and
flirting.
They were going to make out and it was going to be fine.
I feel like Sam has created a love story or what he,
believes his love story is going to be in his head of this like ferocious like I'm so madly in love
I can't explain it it's just love and it's fucking it's off the rails and there's just no words
to describe what this is I'm just telling you shut up I love you you love me and we can't
control ourselves around each other but like I feel like there's songs that like describe that
Like I'm sure there's some like rolling stone songs that are like I can't describe this love or whatever
But it's just like that's not what this is though
Yeah I feel like a lot of the things he's saying it's like she's asking him a specific direct question about their personal relationship
And he doesn't know how to respond and then it's just pulling every line from every movie that he's ever seen
Like it's a mix of like romcom fights and romcom makeup scenes and romcom breakers scenes and it's just like they're all meshed
together and he's just saying them at Jen and none of them really fit the situation or
making sense combined but like that's he's just trying to figure out what the right thing to say
is versus thinking about like what the honest thing to say is and what he actually feels yeah yeah
but let me ask you this before we move on to the pallet cleanser of a date which is jeremy um
do you think sam actually loves her um i think that he thinks he loves her i think that he wants to
love her. I think that he wants to end up
engaged her at the end of this. But
no, I think that
I don't think that
he actually loves her. Like, I think
if those two ended up together
at the end of this, like, they would be
broken up before the finale.
I think there's like no
foundation to the relationship. And I think
that's what Jen's realizing. And I think
that Sam's just really caught up in all
of it right now.
You okay. What do you think? Do you think he actually loves her?
I think he loves the
idea of ending up with The Bachelorette and having this ferocious love and being engaged to this
beautiful woman. But he clearly does not know who she is. I don't think he can love her.
I get what he's saying. Sometimes loves a feeling that you can't explain or control. Like I don't
disagree with that statement, but I just have concerns about the fact that he can't answer any of
these questions. Yeah, I mean, I agree. I agree. I really agree with what you said with
they get off the show
and there's like no foundation
and I think that I don't know
yeah I don't want to be like
oh I
he thinks he loves her but he actually doesn't
because I actually I mean who knows how he actually
feels maybe he does
love her but I just
don't think that love would last
yeah
yeah
yeah
it's not sustainable
I don't know it just it comes across
pretty strange
super strange
let's jump to Jeremy
yeah Jeremy's date
which Jeremy is one of the guys
that she tells charity
that she needs to get to know a little more
and they have they have a
their date is like they're in a market right
yeah it literally looks like something we would do
if we were in Seattle like they go to the market
he makes a flower bouquet for her
you know what does date remind me of
what Kelsey and Joey's
date of the bar.
Oh, really?
Yeah, where it's just a little more chilly, you know?
It's like the end, a little more chill date.
Yeah, they're like tossing a fish, having beers.
Yeah, yeah.
It looked really fun.
I liked the date.
He got stuck with a good one.
They opened up, like, the night portion.
He opens up.
You know, they talk about everything, religion and backgrounds and marriage and everything,
which is what you need to, those are the conversations you need to have.
this point um and i just yeah i wasn't expecting him to get a rose but he got one you didn't think
they had a lot of chemistry on this date you said it a few times you're like i don't know if he's
going to get a rose i don't know if they have chemistry yeah i don't know what it is because i'm
definitely wrong like i'm clearly wrong and there because i do when i think of jeremy i go back
to the race car date yes i was like and you were like oh i think she really likes him i'm like yeah
me too but then i don't know if i i i seen enough of i i've seen enough of
of them after that where I thought maybe it was just like there was four guys on the date.
She liked him.
It was cool.
Yeah.
He's kind of at a disadvantage.
I mean, why?
We just haven't seen a ton of them and getting a one-on-one date this late.
We haven't been able to really like watch the relationship grow.
And I think if you'd gotten like a week three or four, one-on-one date, we might feel a little
differently.
I do think they have chemistry.
But yeah, I think it's going to be great to have Jeremy on later this week because we
can get into it a little more, talk to him about his conversations with Jen on this date and how
their connection has grown throughout the season because I just don't really feel like we've seen
that much of it. Okay. So, okay, now we cut back to, so Sam M is before Rose ceremony. Yeah,
so there was no cocktail party this episode. This would be almost like the replacement cocktail
party because Jen is fully dressed. Half the guys are ready. Half the guys aren't. She storms into
their suite. You know what would be a shocker if we had a season that had a cocktail,
I had never missed the cocktail party.
That would be crazy.
I don't think that's ever happened.
They should do that.
Just every single week you have to have a cocktail party.
And at the beginning of the season, be like, this is the first season this has ever happened.
And then it's just like.
I don't know if that's as dramatic as you think it's going to be.
I like it.
We're going to follow the structure of the show exactly.
And nothing is going to change.
Nothing is going to change.
And that is dramatic.
Exactly.
But she storms into the room.
Love this look that she's wearing.
This might be my favorite look from her this season.
and this yellow dress.
She looks really good
in like spaghetti straps
and deep V.
Gorge, Gorgina.
I love watching the guy's faces
when she comes in.
She's like, where's Sam?
There's all so shocked to see her.
It's just fun to me.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And she breaks it off at Sam.
Yeah.
Do you think she went in there
knowing she was going to end
the relationship with Sam?
Yes.
If he had given her like
a thoughtful answer,
she might have kept him.
I think he was going home
at this point.
Sam had a chance before the I love you conversation was Sam's last last chance.
The what is love to you? Oh no, the one where he said I love you.
The one that he said I love it. Yeah. He kind of, he was kind of screwed after the radio date,
but I still think he had a tiny bit of a chance. And then he dropped the I love you with kind of no
explanation. And then I think that was it for Sam. Yeah, I think you're right. I think she went in there
pretty heated after reflecting upon like their entire experience and just the way he'd
handled those conversations she asked him you say you love me like what is love to you he
couldn't really answer it she asked what did you learn about me on our one-on-one date he couldn't
really answer that he was saying some crazy things he said something along lines of like there's
other people out there with the same characteristics as you you know what I want to ask you real
quick and I know we're running a little
a little one on this recap
but remember when you said I'm falling
in love with you? Yeah. How would you
have responded if I looked at you and said well
what's love
to you? I would have been like
fuck you
fuck this guy but
what if I like literally like put my
hand on your knee and it was like
sweetheart like do you even know
what love is? Oh I think our
relationship would be on the rocks if not
over but that would be incredibly
condescending of you to say and it's one thing to blurt out I'm in love with you in a moment where
the relationship is not going well it can be seen as quite manipulative are you questioning my
authenticity no no I'm just saying I just think it is funny I think it's a funny scenario but I did
put myself in that position of like could I have answered it if you asked me like how do you
know you're falling in love with me because I didn't know what you're going to say and I was
prepared that you might like question me because it did feel crazy because it was so fast
and I hadn't like prepped an answer but I was just like if he questions me like could I answer like
what about him is making me fall in love with him and I could have yeah I might have not been like
the most like poetic or romantic answer ever but like I could have said the things that yeah and
I'm also I'm also like a simple dummy like I would have been okay with like you're so
handsome I'm like oh shit oh stop yeah you wouldn't have really you wouldn't have taken a lot to
convince God she's obsessed
You're just so handsome and funny.
You would have been like, oh, my guys, she's obsessed with me.
She loves me.
No wonder.
It is love.
But, like, the combo went really bad.
I would love to hear what Sam M's reflection on that combo is now.
Having watched it back, having had time to process, I mean, we're going to watch the
mental all, and I'm sure we'll see it there.
Yeah.
But I liked Jen saying like I've been in this kind of relationship before and I've put that in my past and I'm not looking to revisit it.
For me, I could see Sam, you know, watching this back and looking back and going on the, the towel and whatever and kind of being like, yeah, maybe, you know, maybe I fucked up.
Like I kind of have to like revisit myself and like kind of look within.
see kind of what like what went down here but i could see sam m being a guy who goes on paradise
and figures it out and like i could see him i guess i could see him growing from this like i could see
sam m being a guy that goes on paradise being likable and in falling in love potentially because
at the end of the day as much as this convo he did not shine and it did not show him in a good light
I also don't think that him and Jen are compatible for one another.
Like I've seen multiple situations and conversations between the two of them
where they're like personalities and like flaws and all that aside.
Like these two have sexual chemistry and that's it.
Like I do not see these two ending up in a relationship together.
And I've really loved this episode for Jen.
I feel like there's been a lot of growth from her this episode
or at least we've seen a shift in her where she's taking charge of these conversations.
She's putting the men on the spot and asking them totally fair questions about what life outside of this would look like, what they're actually looking for, what their feelings for her are, and really just taking inventory of the guys that she has and where they're at in this process and where it could go.
Because I think it's time to start doing that going into hometowns for sure.
And I think if she hadn't done that, there's a good chance Sam M would have been in her top four.
Yeah.
And I think that would have not been right for her.
Yeah.
So that's pretty much.
So Sam M goes home.
She also ends up cutting Grant,
who's, you know,
I actually kind of,
I actually did think Grant was going to make it to hometown.
This season,
I haven't really been able to figure out
who was going to go to Final Four.
Devin, I always knew Devin was.
Devin, yeah.
Marcus, yeah.
Marcus, I wasn't on.
Oh, Jonathan.
Jonathan goes to Final Four.
Like Jonathan, Spencer, Grant.
and Jeremy were all kind of on the same level.
Yeah, I agree.
The whole season, like they all were great and had strong connections,
but I wouldn't have been able to pick from the four of them what two
were going to be in final four if you asked me last week.
Yeah, I feel like Devon, yeah,
Devin and Marcus were kind of a step ahead.
Yeah, especially because Marcus got the second one-on-one date,
which usually goes to someone that has a pretty strong connection.
Yeah.
So we'll see.
We're going to have hometowns next week.
We'll see how this, how hometowns go.
Always, always entertaining.
I love seeing the families that aren't used to being on camera, how they react.
And, yeah, that's a recap.
Make sure you guys stay tuned.
Later this week, we are going to have Jeremy on.
He is a hometown guy.
So we're going to talk about everything that went down with him and Jen, where their relationship stands at this point.
And, yeah.
Thanks for listening.
