Hey, everyone.
Welcome back to Badger Happy Hour.
I'm Joe.
And I'm Serena.
And we are here with another recap.
We're getting down to the wire.
It moved pretty quick.
I know.
It always does.
It's always shocking once we get to hometowns.
But I feel like this is the last kind of like fun episode.
Not that the next part isn't fun, but things tend to take a more serious turn going into hometown.
Yeah, because now these are the ones.
that he actually has feelings for.
Yeah, he has serious connections with all the women now versus like, you know, three weeks ago,
there's definitely still a range of his connections.
The good thing is we have Joey coming on the podcast this week,
so make sure you have that episode because we were going to ask him all the questions
and how he's feeling before going into the towel and hometowns and everything.
Last time we interviewed him was at Charities AFR.
He got announced as The Bachelor.
He's a changed man.
He hasn't even started filming when we.
interviewed him. No. He, I mean, he, he was pretty, he seemed pretty self-aware in going into
this season. So I'm curious to see how, uh, he seemed very relaxed. Yeah. So I'm curious to see how
he feels now. I'm probably less relaxed. I wish I'd actually gone back and listened to our
interview with him, our last interview with him to compare to where we are now. Yeah, you should
did that. I know. That's okay. But this episode, Jasper, Canada. Jasper, Alberta. Have you ever
been there? I haven't. I actually looked it up. It's like a five and a half hour drive from
Bamp, Alberta, which I really want to go to. We would have to fly there from Toronto, correct?
Definitely. I mean, you could drive, but we wouldn't drive. It would be far. It would be far.
But it's so beautiful. I mean, it's giving like quintessential Canada. It's like all the trees and the
water, the cabins. It's just like very beautiful and they're super submerged in nature.
We should go. We should. I really want to go to BAMP. Honestly, it's like, it's on my list.
I'm surprised you've never been. We've been to the one in Whistler. We've been to the one. No,
we stayed at the Four Seasons in Whistler. It's not uncommon for like Canadian kids after they like
graduate university to go like work at one of them because they're like popular year-round. You can work as a
server there's like a bunch of different jobs like I know people who like graduated from school
and like went and like worked at one of them for like I don't know two years anyway I was
before we get into it the four seasons in Whistler it was like one of my favorite hotels
it's beautiful it's so stunning there's so much of Canada to see guys
venture out there check it out okay so um date card not shocked at all
this I think is the first time ever I mean I'm sure it's happened before I just
can't remember the last time it happened where all six girls left have already had a one-on-one
date the week before going into hometown. So no matter who gets the one-on-one, it's their second
one-on-one. Like my season this week, there was two girls who hadn't got one-on-ones yet
because you usually expect it to go to the two people that haven't had one-on-ones. And I find
usually like one gets at one-dozen kind of thing. Yeah. And I feel like if you haven't had a one-on-one
at this point
and then you don't get it
you're definitely going home
Oh yeah it's game over for you
Yeah you see Jen's upset
She seems a little shocked
That Daisy got in
She didn't
Yeah
I think Daisy was the most obvious choice
Because she was the very first
One-on-one of the season
So she has gone the longest
Without a one-on-one
I agree but
But Jen was the second
It may not be obvious to them
You know
It seems like Jen
Makes out with him a lot
Yeah
and has like some like nice moments with him I don't know I think that Jen's attitude in this episode
at first going into this week I was like I literally don't know who his top four are going to be
because I feel like he has really good connections with every single one of these women
we've seen the relationships progress like it could be any
Jen was definitely in a bit of a spiral this episode which made me think that maybe she wasn't getting like
the reassurance and Joey might have been like pulling back a little bit because then like
compared to like a Rachel, Rachel's so confident and comfortable and she didn't seem very nervous.
Well, and we see Jen's like last effort to like make out with him on the group date.
We'll go to that later in this episode.
What did you think about the jacuzzi kind of standard?
Daisy and Joey in the jacuzzi.
They seem to like each other.
Yeah, yeah.
They did the horseback riding date, which was super cute.
I feel like Daisy has had some really good date.
She had like the country concert.
You just like to be like crazy because I skipped a horseback.
Well, you just, you'll do crazy.
Like, I'm like, they drove.
I have things to say.
I'm at the beginning.
Okay.
All right.
What did you think about the horseback riding?
It's fine.
No, no, no.
Please.
I don't have much to say about it.
I just wanted to acknowledge that that happened.
I thought it was cute.
And I felt like it was a really, like, scenic, romantic date.
And I feel like Daisy has had two really good date.
What was her first date?
She did, like, the helicopter to the country concert.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I like this.
I like the horseback riding.
I had the horseback riding.
writing date and I was obsessed with it I was like this day is sick yeah like it's so pretty you
get to just talk though it's chill yeah great day activity okay can we go now jacuzzi we can go to
jacuzzi any any thoughts in the jacuzzi seem they really they seem to really be into each other
like i'm watching this thinking like joey's not joey's going to give her a rose after this date
a hundred percent 100 percent i mean they have a really i said this at the beginning and i still feel this
I genuinely think they have great chemistry
and a really good connection.
She seemed like super happy and smiley.
He seems super comfortable around her.
Like I was never really doubting if she was going to go to hometowns or not.
Yeah.
Okay.
Cut to Kelsey gets a one-on-one.
The date's not over,
but that's what happened in the episode.
In the episode,
they cut two in the house,
Kelsey gets a one-on-one,
and then we go back to the night portion.
They cut to the group date card.
Oh, okay.
Okay, okay.
If you're going to go out of order, please.
Do it right.
Do it right.
Okay.
Okay.
So what happened?
They get to the group date card.
We learn Kelsey A gets the one-on-one.
Yes.
Jen and the rest of girls do not.
Jen has like a little moment.
She's definitely struggling.
She thought it was going to be her.
I actually thought it was going to be her too.
Oh, I didn't.
I just really thought it was.
It was between Jen and Kelsey because Rachel just had one.
So it was between the two of them.
The minute Kelsey A got it and Jen didn't, I was like,
Like, okay, like, I really think Jen's going home this week.
But understand why she's having a hard time.
I would be struggling if I was in her shoes, too.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, because you're so close, but still, you're just like.
Yeah, you're like, you know, one day could get at this point.
Like, one day could push my connection past someone else's or like make him see more of who I am.
And like, it really could do a lot.
Like, she's in that position where like one, one on one could.
do a lot. Also, like a few weeks ago, there were so many more women there and Jen's connection
was one of the strongest. Was clearly one of the strongest. One of the strongest. And now she's
probably looking like I no longer feel that way. Totally. And she had the second week one-on-one,
I think, which is feeling like a long time ago now. So it's like, yeah, tough spot. Out of everyone
there, she's probably in the toughest position. Okay. So we go to the night portion of Daisy's date.
and this is when things get a little interesting because they have a non-surface level conversation
where Daisy opens up and says, I don't think I'm there yet.
Yeah, no, she does.
Interesting, you know?
Yeah, she basically says, I like you a lot and I like where this is going, but I'm not falling in love.
Like, I haven't fallen in love with you.
I'm not falling in love with you.
I respect it because right now, like most women won't even say that because they do.
like they want to go like you have you want to make the hometowns and if you say that
there's a good chance that he cuts you i guess yeah but i mean like she's like i'm not going to
just tell him i'm falling for him to get a rose if that's not how i feel like i'll lead him into
this hometown date like with false words yeah but it was an interesting conversation because
i feel like she got in away with being like yeah i really like you like this is where i'm at i feel
great about where we are. My feelings are strong for you. Like, it could have been spun in like a very
positive way. And I feel like the way they went into it, like, Joey must have been really looking
for where she was at because it was very direct of like not like, I'm here and I could get here.
It was like, I'm not here and I might get there, but I don't know kind of thing. You know what I mean?
Like it was a blunt conversation of like, yeah, I don't love you yet. Like if that's what
you're looking for. Like, I don't feel that way.
I never envisioned being with a woman. I'll just be honest. I'm Jamel Hill, host of
the Sports and Politics Podcasts, Politics. On this week's episode, I'm joined by basketball legend
Candice Parker, who stops by to discuss her candid new book, The Can Do Mindset, in which she shares
why she waited two years into marriage to come out. Like, when I close my eyes at night,
every night I was like I need to find my prince charming like it was never a princess like
that never entered into my mind but you know as I learned sometimes life gives you things
wrapped in the package that you didn't expect it and that was just you know and honestly it took
me a long time to be okay with myself make sure to listen to this week's episode of spolitics

Daisy is the type of person that is going to have a very tough time in this environment really falling in love.
Yeah.
I knew that because you said it.
Why?
I don't know.
I think, I mean, this is just really speculating, but she is someone that's been through a lot
in life. And I would imagine, like, not having to live life together in, like, a normal
environment and, like, see the everyday actions of this person might, like, I feel like those
would be crucial things for me to get there with someone if I'd been through what she had been
through. I also just think, like, there's some people that have a hard time in this environment,
like, fully letting their guards stand, whether they're aware of it or not, like, let themselves
fall in love, like, when this person's dating a bunch of other people. Like, I think some people
can fully block that out. And I think some people probably have a hard time of fully blocking that out.
And, like, it can become, like, an unconscious barrier. And I also think that, you know, maybe Joey's just
not her person and she hasn't figured that out yet or maybe he is her person and she just
needs these next few steps to get there like she might just be someone that's like I need the
hometown date I need the overnight date two things I feel like could be crucial for her to be like
okay yeah no like I mean she's been through a lot in her family seems like a really really big
piece of her life and very important to her especially like with how excited she seems about
hometown correct me if I'm wrong though someone at this
point in the show is not there yet.
Like, I just, I don't know if, and I could be wrong.
I'm trying to, like, think of past contestant.
But I just, I just, like, is, will, like, home to, could hometowns change how you feel?
I don't, I don't think it could.
That's, that's, that's because I, I feel like I would relate more to Daisy because I don't know.
like the actual show like I mean I felt love in paradise but I don't know if I would have been
able to because it would bother me like being down to like the final five six and like it would
be really hard for me not to be like well she's dating multiple guys like yeah like I really gonna
let myself like fall in love with this girl and like picture a future with her yeah yeah no like
I think that's a real thing that probably happens more than we realize.
I think it's there's also like, I don't know, I don't know if you see it as far deep into the season as we are now.
Yeah.
But I mean, I really don't know.
Like, there's definitely something that would be good to ask her about of like why she felt like she was maybe a little behind where it seems like the other girls are.
and like what drove her to be so kind of forceful with Joey.
Like it really felt like she was trying to be very clear with the message of like, hey,
I like you a lot.
I wouldn't be here if I didn't think things were going to go somewhere.
But like I'm not there.
Like, and you should know that I'm not there.
For Joey, that's also probably a little refreshing to hear.
Maybe, but he seems like someone who's like, man, I really need some validation right now.
Yeah.
Well, he keeps saying that that's like his biggest thing.
It's like it seems so scary to be there at the end with somebody that's not willing to go all the way.
Like that's like been his number one fear.
Literally that would literally be horrible.
He's like, I just broke all these girls' hearts to get to the end for the girl that I love to be like, actually just kidding.
I don't love you.
Yeah.
That would be heartbreaking.
And I really hope that does not happen to him.
Well, Daisy gets the rose.
So obviously he thinks she could get there.
Yeah.
And I think their relationship, even though.
her feelings might not be there, their connection and their relationship has progressed
like very far.
So Daisy gets the first date.
And now we go chate, whether lumberjacks or lumber jills, and it's a competition.
And it seems like all the, all the women are struggling at this point.
Maria seems to be struggling the most.
She's not having a good time.
I mean, she got the princess date, which is like, let me take you shopping for designer
dresses and like take you to like a beautiful romantic dinner to like put on this plaid shirt and
chop some wood. Yeah. Then you're just like competing with like four other women. Yeah.
That's something you're not really good at and no one's going to be really good at unless like you are,
you have experience with lumber. Chopping wood and lumber. Maria reminds me a lot of Brie Springs
on this date because Brie is like not an outdoorsy girl and the group.
date before
hometowns
she was on it
and they made them
go play like
hide and seek
in the woods
and I just remember
the weather
was brutal
that day
they're all like
running around
outside
it's muddy
I'm like
I feel like
the last
group day
of the season
just always sucks
even if it's a
good activity
it's gonna suck
no one wants to
be on it
like you're fighting
for time
you're over it
you just want to
get a one
on one
at this point
I would hate it
I would be like
I'm not
I don't want to chop wood.
Yeah, you're like, I literally want to sit and chat with Joey.
Never chop wood in my life.
I actually have chopped wood.
I go to the store.
I go to like Minarets and I buy wood if I need wood.
So then we do see though that's when Jen like runs over and makes out with Joey and it's like in front of Maria.
I feel like though that wasn't meant to be like an obnoxious thing because it looks like she ran over to where he was doing an interview.
And I could see her thinking like this will be a private moment.
Like I'm sneaking away.
Took one last shot at it.
Yeah.
Do you feel like the leads, like, at this point obligated to make out?
Think about it this way.
I've thought about this before.
You are the lead, okay?
There's 10 girls.
You're not into all 10 of them equally.
Okay, you know two of them are going home that week probably.
Or you have a good feeling.
It's not going to work out with two of them.
Yeah.
Would you rather sit there and have them, like, talk about their feelings?
and you have to like talk about your feelings
or would you rather just like make out with them?
Because I feel like I would be like let's just make out.
You know?
Because I don't want to sit here and like have you tell me how much you love me
or like how much you care about me and like when I like deep down like no this isn't
going to work out.
But I guess then you just like you send them home like you do what Joey did with
Jess.
Yeah.
But you're not.
Let's not going to be like don't kiss me.
Okay.
But like if at this point I feel like he's probably got like.
there's five or six women left. I would say he's probably narrowed in on two.
And he's probably starting to have feelings for those two. So then when like someone that runs over that you're like, you kind of know in the back of your mind you're sending them home, I'm going to be like, I don't really feel like making out with you.
You would have said that. I don't know. I don't know what I do. I just, I feel like. I don't know. It's a good question. I actually don't know how I would.
be in that situation because
I mean he obviously
I don't know like I'm not going to sit here and say
like Joey didn't want to make up with Jen I'm sure he did
you know what I mean like she's coming
she's coming over she's being cute like
she's trying to sneak away a little time like he
probably hasn't made up his mind it's just a little kiss
sure but I mean
yeah if I was in his shoes it was someone like
I didn't really or I knew
was sending home I probably
like give him a little packing dick got to talk
to you later I don't know it's not
it's got to be an uncomfortable position
be in at times.
Okay, so this is the Maria show.
She talks to Joey.
I like this conversation
because
I felt like this was
kind of like
a real moment for Joey
because we kind of see him like
give an honest
like I'm figure it out.
Like he basically tells Maria like figure it out
like if you want to stay or not.
Which I liked because
Yeah, it felt like an insight into a real relationship conversation.
Yeah.
Versus like kind of more what you get in the beginning where he, he takes a more like comforting approach to each of them.
At the beginning, it's more an understanding of like, I was in your shoes.
I get that it's difficult.
Yeah, I'm still getting to know you.
You're getting to know me.
But now I feel like he's like really in a relationship.
And it's just a more honest conversation.
Yeah.
And you could tell she starts spiraling.
And then she walks away.
And then I think she like comes to and she's like, no, I actually do still really want to be here.
Do you think any part of her, like even if it was like 2% was not bluffing, but kind of like curious to see what his reaction was going to be when she kind of threatened to go home?
I think there was a part of her that and I think we all could relate to this.
But I think there was a part of her like it's either me or no one else like figure your like in her head is like I'm done second.
yeah like I'm not one of six anymore like yeah I think she I think she went I think I don't think she was being like you need to put off this show I think she just like kind of like went back to how she would be in the in the actual real world and I was like okay I'm done with this bullshit and then she had to like go back and think no wait this is the way the show yes 100% I think you're totally right where she was like I'm dating this guy we're not exclusive he wants to
to come meet my family and I gave like a blunt answer of like I don't know what you want me to do here
I'm not going to beg you to say this is the situation we're in and then she took a minute and then
was kind of like damn like I am on the bachelor like he can't do anything about this I can't do
anything about it I'm going to stay I never envision being with a woman I'll just be honest
I'm Jamel Hill host of the sports and politics podcast's politics on this

What if I could promise you you never had to listen to a condescending finance, bro?
Tell you how to manage your money again.
Welcome to Brown Ambition.
This is the hard part when you pay down those credit cards.
If you haven't gotten to the bottom of why you were racking up credit or turning to credit cards,
you may just recreate the same problem a year from now.
When you do feel like you are bleeding from these high interest rates,
I would start shopping for a debt consolidation loan,
starting with your local credit union, shopping around online,
looking for some online lenders because they tend to have fewer fees and be more affordable.
Listen, I am not here to judge.
It is so expensive in these streets.
I 100% can see how in just a few months,
months, you can have this much credit card debt when it weighs on you. It's really easy to just
stick your head in the sand. It's nice and dark in the sand. Even if it's scary, it's not going to go
away just because you're avoiding it. And in fact, it may get even worse. For more judgment-free
money advice, listen to Brown Ambition on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your
podcast. I try to put myself in these situations and I feel like that's probably, like I'd be like.
I could totally see you doing that. Oh, I would 100% do it. I'd be like,
get rid of these other guys or I'm leaving.
Then I would walk away and be like, I can't leave.
Wait.
What am I talking about?
So yeah, I definitely, yeah, get it.
Yeah.
And especially because she just came off a one-on-one date, which is like as normal as you can
get in this experience after so many group dates.
And she's just like, I really feel like you're my boyfriend now.
And now I'm going to go back to these stupid group dates and I'm over this.
But she'll have an easier time now moving forward because it's only one-on-ones.
I think we'll kind of solve that.
Okay.
Now let's go to...
Well, he doesn't give out the group date rows.
Oh, yeah.
Joey doesn't give out the group date rows, which...
I was not surprised about actually.
I did not think he was going to give it out.
It seemed like all the girls were surprised,
which I think was a good move.
Leaves a little suspense at the end of the show.
I mean, if he gave it out, there'll only be one...
Yeah, and I feel like at this point,
Daisy and Kelsey, it looks like are his strongest two connections.
So leaving the four of them,
I was like it could be any of these four
like two out of the four
it could be any of them
going to hometowns next week
so yeah left like
for the cocktail party
and the roast ceremony
okay so now let's go to
the biggest bullshit
I've ever seen on this show
which is Kelsey
you had a real problem with this
this is crazy
I'll let them just go hang out at a bar
like I would love to have done that
we had to wrestle
we had to put on costumes
and wrestle in a ring
these two are hanging
these two are like
low key just hanging out
They walked around.
They got some hot cocoa.
They went to a bar.
They were literally playing pool with randoms and drinking beer.
Yeah.
I was like, this is not about, like, this is just a, like, it was like, they were like,
you and Kelsey can just like do whatever you want today.
Yeah.
And he was like, sick.
I was like, this is the best date ever.
Unbelievable.
They look like so cute together.
Unbelievably cute.
Yeah.
But I will say the polar bear plunge part was definitely.
That was so fun too.
this is the best date ever literally this is like our dream date like this is like how we spend our days on a usual day this is our Saturday you're literally watching what Joe and I do on a Saturday it's very obvious that Kelsey does cold plunges I feel like and Joey does not because she's like yeah like this is what it looks like when Joe and I do a cold plunge like Joe is Kelsey and I am Joey well you should have if you would have saw me yesterday the the one I went in was 33 degrees it was really cold like I only stayed in for two minutes which is not yeah
33 degrees is insanity.
I'm not even dipping a toe in that water.
But like them running in, like the adrenaline's high.
It's so fun.
You can see Joey's instantly ready to run out.
Kelsey's like, I'm doing my breathing.
She's like holding his hands like you do with me when I'm trying to like, I was like,
this is so funny.
And then they, what do they do?
They just had dinner.
Talks about her mom, which naturally then I start crying.
Like when that girl cries, I cry.
I don't know what it is.
But talks about her dad, how much he means.
her how he stepped up with all of the kids when her mom passed and just kind of talks about how
excited she is for Joey to meet him and her family and honestly they have the strongest
connection in my opinion at this point like after this date if it's not her and him at the end
I'll be really surprised like I agree I just really think they have an amazing connection
yeah and it makes sense she got the last date the last one-on-one before hometowns like
it all checks out. Totally. And they just had a normal Saturday date. Like they didn't even have to do
anything. They just let them hang out of the bar. I just feel like they have really amazing
conversation. They seem like they have a lot of fun together. And I feel like the like sexual romantic
chemistry is also there. I couldn't agree more. She gets a hometown rose. Um, so now we cut to Jesse
Palmer walks in, cancel the cocktail party. Yeah. Everyone's upset, but kind of figure that was going to
happen. I figured they were going to cancel the cocktail party. But when he pulled Maria,
if I was there, like Rachel was like, I thought we weren't getting time with him tonight.
What the fuck? I would have been so mad. It's not even funny. I would have. You're not the lead like I told
you. I know. I know. You did tell me that. But like doesn't matter. Like in my head when I was on the show,
like everything, I deserved everything and more. I would have been so pissed off.
They don't really need that time, okay?
There's four of us here, and you could have spent 30 minutes extra giving each of us time to chat.
It's like his decision's been made.
Like his mind's made up.
We all want to go to bed.
Nothing you could say or do is going to change his mind.
Then it's like, okay, like I get it, whatever.
But like his mind's not made up and he just wants to talk to Maria.
I would be like, so if she's getting the chance to change your mind in this moment, you can't give me like five, ten minutes.
And also, like, if I'm Rachel, I'm like, I'm not going into hometowns.
Like, I would have loved to chat with you.
Like, this is a two-way street.
Like, I know you have full control over when we have time together, how much time we have
together.
But, like, at least humor me and, like, make me feel like I got a little power in this
situation.
I didn't realize you felt so passionately about this.
Honestly, I'm triggered.
This happened to me on my season.
I will say, I think his mind was made up.
Then why are you talking to Maria?
because his mind was made up on Maria
and I just think there was a chance
that Maria can't
fully commit in this
environment and he needed to make sure
before taking her. But I think his mind was set up
on Rachel and
yeah no I think his mind was I think Rachel was
100% going home town and I don't think there was a need
to talk to the other Kelsey Jen
yeah and he needed to talk to Maria
and I guess if she was like I don't
know if I could do this, she might have gone home and then Kelsey and Jen all. I think he would
have still sent Kelsey and Jen home. And I think he would have went into Holtowns with three.
That's why he needed that extra time and he just didn't need it with everyone else because his mind
was already made up. Yeah. No, you're right. I get it from like the woman's standpoint because
they're kind of like, well, maybe I could change his mind like because you don't know, but like I feel
like his mind was already. Yeah. That's what I think. But the final rose goes to Maria.
So Maria, Rachel, Kelsey A, and Daisy are Joey's final four women.
And we'll see. We'll see what happens.
We'll see what happens.
Okay, everyone, thank you.
