Welcome back to Bachelor Happy Hour's Golden Hour with Kathy and I.
Thanks for joining us.
Okay, Susan, I got to say.
say if people have not listened to our episode from Wednesday yet they really need to check it
out I mean we had Blake Moynes on the podcast and I don't know I'm thinking about really going a
whole lot younger what about you oh my gosh he was so cute it was so cute what a great guy I mean
what he's doing to save the planet and his conservation efforts with with endangered species is
amazing. Guys, if you have not listened to this podcast, you really need to. He will really give you hope for the
future. And we were seriously flirting with this poor kid. I don't know about you, but I was kind of
seriously hoping he was interested in older women. A lot older women. And you know what I liked
about him, Kathy? He was true to his word. And even when looking for a relationship, he tells them
exactly what he's doing. He does want a family and children. At first, I was like,
how are you going to get a relationship flying off the Africa to play with the animals or save
the planet or the animals? But he said he was only gone for a few weeks at a time. So there is
a chance. And hopefully he'll find somebody that's just as enthusiastic about what he is.
You know what I liked about him? All of that, not to mention his fabulous good looks,
but you know what I really liked about him? His honesty and his patience.
he's patiently waiting doing him he's doing his life he's living his best life right now and he's not
anxious or worried about finding this person i really felt like he thinks you know she'll come
when the time is right and i love that together you know what it's good to have your shit together
at any age so how about when i talked about going to europe or italy or you know all the things that i do
And he, what about what he said?
I'm saving that because I'm sure my partner, my person, is going to want to do those things.
So he's doing what his love is.
And he's saving that to go experience these places with his partner.
So you know what I thought when I met him?
I'm holding on to.
You can do whatever you want.
I'm going on a conservation mission with him.
I already told him we're there.
Only I want to lay by the pool.
We're going. Seriously, folks, if you did not listen to this podcast, you need to because he is an amazing young man and he is doing things to save our planet. And our planet, in case you haven't noticed, needs a lot of saving right now. And the animals, he's like loving, like what he does. He told me I couldn't pat a giraffe.
Well, that's okay, might buck you or something. I don't know. But we do have some great fan questions today. And I can't wait to get into these. I mean, they get us some.
times, don't they, Kathy?
Oh, they do.
And don't forget, if you do have a question for Kathy and me, send them in.
Go to bachelornation.com slash golden hour.
Please do that.
But first, okay, Susan, we've got to do it.
We're going to start with our question of the day.
Are you ready?
Oh, boy.
Yeah.
All right, here we go.
When you're in your golden years, whenever you get there, Susan, and you find someone
you want to spend the rest of your life with, do you feel?
do you feel it's necessary to get married?
Oh, God, who cares as long as I find them?
That marriage is a piece of paper.
I think, I don't know.
At my age, I don't think that's as important.
I mean, I would like to have the ring to say that I am taken, you know.
But no, I don't think it's all that necessary.
Susan, do you know how you always tell me that I'm long-winded
and I don't answer a question shortly?
in short.
Do I feel it's necessary to get married?
No.
Okay, done.
I don't.
I mean, we have raised.
That's the fastest she's ever.
I repeat, the fastest she's ever answered a question.
But seriously, I mean, we've raised our kids.
Yes.
We've bought our homes.
We've had our careers.
I want, you and I both want, not the same guy, but we both want a find a guy.
I don't share that well.
Either do I don't.
I don't play that well.
I'll show my car, my house, my food, but not my man.
If I find a man, you're taking your dollies and going home, I promise you.
I'm just saying it's not necessary to get married.
You know, just find the guy that makes you happy and live your life, right?
And also, Kathy, at this age, there's pre-nups you have to do.
And for tax purposes, it might be better.
Hey, can I just say, wait, can I, let's be honest here for a second.
this is a question that, you know, people have asked me.
Let's be honest, folks, you know, whatever money I have when I go,
honestly, I'm being serious now, I want that money to go to my children.
What about you?
Absolutely.
And I'm sure he feels the same way, you know?
I mean, that's just a no-brainer at our age.
I mean, I, you've worked hard.
Kathy, there are women out there that want to be taken care of and don't have a nesting
or they want a man to fulfill all the needs.
Listen, I'm not a millionaire.
I'm not saying that.
No, I know, but you can survive on your own, darling.
Well, only if you do my hair.
A lot.
Speaking of.
Her hair grows like a weed.
Can I just tell you?
Can I just say we need to make a hair appointment here?
I'll be flying to Philly soon.
All right, I think we can save for you soon.
All right, let's go.
The answer again, no, you don't have to get married.
Okay.
So this is from listener question number one.
Hi, ladies.
This is Dan from Naperville, Naperville, I'm not sure, Illinois.
My wife, Jessica, and I are big fans of yours, Golden Bachelor and Bachelor Nation.
Just a fun question for you both.
Do you have a celebrity crush?
I know who yours is, Susan.
Maybe an actor or musician or someone you wish you.
could go out with. Also, a dream destination you've never been to that you wish you could travel
to. Sending love and hoping you stay happy and healthy, take care. Oh, isn't that sweet? He's so sweet.
I like him. Okay, Susan. Can I guess who are celebrity crushes? Oh, go right ahead. Bradley Cooper.
Only because I met him this weekend and he reached out and said, I'm your biggest fan.
Please. He is so dreamy. How about those eyes?
I don't know. I want to get in the shallows with him. I want to, I'm singing, move over, Lady Gaga.
I always want it. When they did that song together, that's all I wish for is them as a couple.
Oh, my God. Seriously? But no, he comes up to me and he was making cheese steaks in the truck and the food truck.
Wait, Philly cheese steaks? Yes. And I was in Las Vegas. And he comes up and he goes to give me a hug and he goes, oh, you look beautiful. I'm all greasy. I said, bring it in.
You can hug me. I don't care. Of course you did. It was Bradley Cooper.
You know what? I don't, I don't really have a celebrity crush.
I like a lot of them.
I mean, you're going to, this, okay, that's our nation. I'm aging myself here.
When I was younger, do you want, you're not even going to believe who my celebrity crush was.
Ready?
Brad Pitt.
I just said I'm old. Alan Alda.
Do you even know who that is?
seriously from mash oh my gosh i loved him oh yeah i could see that he was cool oh i loved him
i don't know i mean my memory's not that good i could tell you a hundred people
i have to watch i mean listen i would go it's not to me it's not the celebrity i mean if he's
cool guy he's a cool guy whether it's a celebrity or not and a dream destination yeah where
would that big have are you serious
Anywhere where there's a beach or mountains.
Okay.
Don't care.
What about you?
But a dream destination.
No, wait.
I want to go to New Zealand.
I want to go to Australia and New Zealand.
That's where I want to go.
I'd love to see Australia, but that flight just, oh, that's a long flight.
That's what's alcohol.
There's so many places in the world that I'd like to see.
I have a bucket list that I've done a lot of checks.
And I have seen some most magnificent places.
There's still a part of Italy, even though I've been five time.
I haven't gone to Sicily's yet yet.
Lake Como way up north.
I'd like to see the...
Do you want me to send your postcard when I go to Italy?
The southern end of Spain and hop over to Portugal.
Like, yeah, there's a lot of places.
I mean, I would, honestly, this sounds like a hallmark card again,
but if I'm with the person I love...
We'll care about.
I don't care if it's, you know, Central Park in New York or Greece.
I don't care.
I just want to be with them.
my boyfriend's professor is way too friendly and now I'm seriously suspicious

gone now hold up isn't that against school policy that sounds totally inappropriate
Well, according to this person, this is her boyfriend's former professor and they're the same age.
And it's even more likely that they're cheating.
He insists there's nothing between them.
I mean, do you believe him?
Well, he's certainly trying to get this person to believe him because he now wants them both to meet.
So, do we find out if this person's boyfriend really cheated with his professor or not?
To hear the explosive finale, listen to the OK Storytime podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
I'm Jamil Hill, host of the Sports and Politics.
And on the latest episode of politics, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries joins me for a candid
conversation about the state of the Democratic Party.
What do Republicans say to you privately that they won't say publicly?
Many of them are in fear of their political lives, and that's been part of the challenge.
But we continue to say to them, you were elected to defend your constituents, to stand up
for your constituents.
And there's life after Congress.
And you should be willing to actually want to be able to look back on your.
your time in the House of Representatives knowing that you can keep your head held high because
you did the right thing. Donald Trump is gone in three and a half years. But their legacy or their
failure to stand up to the extremism and the unprecedented assault on America as we know it will be
with them forever. Make sure to listen to Spolitics on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever

Don't laugh at this.
And Kathy, I think you already know this.
I have never been to Niagara Falls.
Right here, I mean, it's a few hours away.
I need to go to Niagara Falls.
And I'd love to do it with a man because I think it's romantic.
But, Kathy, you'll do.
Well, Susan, I've got to break the news to you.
I have been to Niagara Falls.
And remember, I'm from Boston.
The Canadian side?
I've been to the Horseshoe Falls, which is the Canadian side.
Thank you. And I'm going to, Americans do not lash out at me. The Horseshoe Canadian Falls are more beautiful than the American side Niagara Falls. But can I tell you what the most beautiful waterfalls are in the world, Susan? They call it, I don't know, the seventh, eighth wonder of the world, who knows, Iwasu Falls.
Where's that? I knew you're going to ask me. It's at the confluence of Brazil and, I don't know.
Now, I only would one have to go to Brazil when my butt was really firm way back.
No, no, no, no.
We didn't go to the beach.
I want to go now.
It is absolutely the most spectacular destination I've ever been to.
And going back to falls.
Wait, can I just say it makes Niagara Falls look like a trickling hose.
And I'm not kidding.
What about like the miracles, the nature, like falls that just come out of.
nowhere and they're not a huge attraction and named and you know the hawaii had some that i i got to
see and i see pictures on on the internet and like wow but don't you want to share it with someone
yes i do people who wants to go with me i don't get in line the line forms behind me i'm serious
like that is what you and i keep talking about all these when people ask us where would you like
to travel what do you want to see you and i could write list after list of what we'd like
but it's just not the same of you don't have someone special chair with.
And Dan, thank you.
And Dan, I want to know what your dream destination was and who your celebrity is that you'd
like to go on a date with.
No, no, no, no, no, wait.
He's married to Jessica.
He doesn't want to go on a date with anyone.
He's married to Jessica.
Well, he has a fantasy, I'm sure.
Whatever.
Our next question is from Karen.
Hi, Kathy and Susan.
I am almost 67.
Oh, she's my age.
And my boyfriend is the same age.
I was married for 34 years and have been divorced for 12.
I had a terrible divorce, but now I feel like I've found the guy I could spend the rest of my life with.
There's hope, Kathy.
We've been together for three years and see each other three nights a week.
We have a blast together.
But being a girl who loved the partnership and teamwork of a marriage, I want more.
My boyfriend told me he will never marry again.
Oh, boy, keep going.
Do I just accept, and as you say, enjoy this chapter?
I feel like the day will come that this will come to a head.
I love him and I know he loves me.
P.S. love you too.
Oh, go, Susan.
Oh, we love you back.
Okay, okay.
So like we said on our last podcast, I believe it was,
You don't have to be married.
We're 67.
You're not going and raising kids again or having children for that matter.
So if he's committed to you, why worry?
I mean, I'm going to say something that's not that popular.
And you and I've talked about this, Susan.
I will never, ever say never.
But I think I just did.
You never know.
But here's the thing.
You and I've talked about this.
It's ideal.
I have my home.
The guy has his home.
We spend three days at his house, maybe a couple of days at my house, and then we both go back to our own homes.
What's wrong with that?
It's really finding the love that you want.
You definitely accept this chapter and enjoy the ride.
Do you know what's the most important thing?
She said, I love him and I know he loves me.
Wouldn't you love to hear those words?
Wouldn't you love you how those words?
Stop borrowing trouble.
Debbie Downer.
Yeah.
Stop worrying about the marriage and, you know, is he going to buy me a ring in a house if you love
each other and you're having a good...
I miss wearing the ring.
Oh, geez.
I'll buy you one so you can fake it.
Go buy one out of a crackerjack box.
Are you serious?
I'm just saying, enjoy what you guys have together.
There are so many people who never find their person.
And also, we're not God.
We can't predict the future.
we don't know what's going to happen.
So enjoy each minute right now while it's perfect.
That's right.
But thank you for writing in.
Yeah.
Okay.
This is listener question number three.
Chloe sent us this.
I have a one and a half year old son.
He's my first child.
So I still consider myself a new mother.
Obviously, I love my son.
But I struggle to find my identity now that I'm a mother.
To start, I don't feel like a mom.
My mom is a mom, not me.
I also find that once you're a mom, society looks at you differently.
For example, when my husband goes out with our son, people always approach him and tell him how cute our son is, how awesome it is that he is out with our son, etc.
Whereas when I go out with our son, I feel invisible in a way I've never felt before.
It's like my husband's social value has increased, while mine has decreased dramatically.
I am a criminal defense attorney, and I have lots of things I want to do.
do in my career that have now become harder to do as I don't have the time I used to have
to pursue my intellectual goals. I also rarely have a lone time and I miss it so much.
What are your thoughts on this? Did you struggle with any of this in your transition to motherhood?
Advice on how to adjust and relish in my current phase of life. Looking forward to hearing from you.
Oh boy. Well, with that education, there obviously is a
nice salary. I'd have a nanny, at least for part of the time. Everybody stops and says,
what a beautiful child. Are you missing something? I mean, I think it's more internally. It's in
her. What do you think, Kathy? Well, I think, Chloe, first of all, my hat is off to you.
you a criminal defense attorney is a tough profession and you're a mom and I will tell you
I really wanted to go to law school and I will tell you I made the hard decision not to go to law
school because I didn't think I could give my all to raising a family and being a lawyer
and so I made the decision to stay at home with my family so my hat really is off to you
that you're doing both having said that it bothers me that you feel invisible
I think that being a parent is a really important role.
And I think whether we like it or not, moms always in our society are, or not always, but usually, are the ones that, you know, take it for the team.
You know, we're the ones that take care of the sick kids.
And you're doing double duty.
You're a successful attorney.
And I think really what you have to do is accept that you're not going to do.
either thing perfectly. You're not going to be the best criminal defense attorney. You're not going to
be the best mom. And you know what? That's okay. That's okay, Chloe. Do the best you can with both.
Your child will value you. As your son grows up, he's going to say, wow, my mom is someone to be
respected. And what more could you want? What do you think, Susan? That was well said, Kathy.
well said. I think she's just got to adjust to being a mom. I mean, we aren't the most important ones.
I remember feeling like that. I didn't have enough time to do myself. I barely got my shower,
my hair blown dry, forget about makeup or shopping or anything like that. It was about my baby.
But that was okay. Sometimes, you know, just sometimes. And I will tell you, I, you know, we talk about regrets in life.
I would be lying.
I regret sometimes that I didn't go to law school.
I really wanted to be a family law attorney.
And I didn't do it.
And sometimes I think, you know, Kathy, you could have done it all.
But I have three great children.
And guess what?
Guess what, Chloe?
I wasn't a perfect parent.
And that's what I chose to do with my life.
So, again, my hat is off to you.
You're not going to do anything perfectly.
you're doing the best you can and let's celebrate that good for you a day at a time good for you
chloe yeah thank you for writing us and we have question number four and this is from jack from
new york city and he says hi susan and kathy i'm a 28 year old gay man in new york city i've done a lot
of grinder hookups and i've dated a few people but nothing long term i'm very focused on my career and
fitness, which does not leave much time for relationships.
Recently, I've been feeling very lonely.
So I'm thinking about dating again.
However, I'm worried that guys will think it's a red flag that I haven't been in a long-term
relationship.
Do you think it's a red flag?
If so, how do you suggest navigating this?
By the way, love watching you ladies on the show and been so grateful for the energy that
you bring on the podcast.
Oh, thanks, Jack. Jack, you're 28. It's okay that you haven't had 20 serious relationships.
You're supposed to be young and free and concentrate on yourself. Because if you don't know who you are and comfortable with who you are, then how could you share in a relationship?
I think just get out there and start. And you're not going to have one until you meet the right person to have one with, right?
Yeah. I agree with all that, Susan. You know, I have a.
a gay son and I don't really pretend to understand that the gay dating scene. I do think it's
different than a heterosexual dating scene. Having said that, I don't think that just because you've
had hookups on Grindr and have focused on your career and fitness, I don't think that's a bad
thing. I think, yeah, you, you've been doing you, you've been focusing on what's important to you
in the moment and your career in fitness are two really important aspects or should be of anyone's
life. So I think that it's not a red flag unless you make it a red flag. Yeah, exactly. You're
overthinking it. Yeah, if you meet people and, you know, talk about what you've been doing with your life
and your career and you're excited about who you are and what you've been doing with your life,
I think people are going to find that exciting and want to get to know you. So I would say, Jack,
get out there, meet people, and start enjoying your life and see if your relationship's out there
for you. And for all you know, there's other 28-year-olds that also have not been in a serious
relationship. So take it easy on yourself. Yeah. And just go be you. And I wish you tons of luck.
And I'm so glad you're enjoying the podcast. I hope you continue to follow us because we love getting
these questions. We do. And if anybody out there does have a question for us, we want to hear it.
just go to bachelornation.com slash golden hour.
And you may even be featured on the podcast.
My boyfriend's professor is way too friendly,

Wait a minute, Sam.

Well, Dakota, it's back to school week on the OK Storytime podcast,

He doesn't think it's a problem,

You know what? We have time for one more question, Susan.
Okay, let's do it. I am currently in a long-distance relationship. This comes from Shelly in
Tulsa, Oklahoma. She's in a long-distance relationship, and they've been together for almost a
year. We met our freshman year of college and started dating immediately. In January, we found out
he would have to do this semester from home for family reasons. It's been three months and I'm
starting to get really anxious. He's been answering my text less and less before he would respond
pretty quickly. Now it takes hours to get a reply. We still FaceTime pretty often and I don't think
anything has changed as far as what made him go home. So I'm not sure what's really been going on.
I'm worried. He's distancing himself. Should I ask him if everything is okay? He's pretty good at giving me
reassurance. But I just could not sleep last night and I hate this feeling. It's my first long
distance relationship and I'm not sure I'll get to see him until fall. Whoa. I don't know what to say.
I don't want to tell you what I'm thinking. What do you think?
what are you thinking surprise guess who's here i'd just show up yeah i'm not liking it
really yeah i'd surprise them you know they've been doing long here's the thing they've been
together for almost a year i think what the problem is he's now moved home he says uh she says
he's moved home for family reasons so and it's only been three
months. I'm thinking that he got a taste of what an in-person relationship was like. Now he doesn't
want to go back to long distance. So I'm thinking, he's thinking, maybe I'll find somebody closer to
home. Maybe he's realizing he's not going to be able to go back to school or whatever it is.
And what are the family issues? Well, does it matter if he's not going to be able to go back to
school? Does it matter? That's what I'm thinking. He's starting to think, you know, I can't go
back to school. I don't want to continue a long-distance relationship. I hate to say that.
Shelly, I'm worried. I'm worried, too. And once again, communicate. But if he's not going to give you
any good communication and tell the truth, then show up. Well, I mean, she said she's afraid
she's not going to get to see him until fall. We're just coming into summer here. So, you know what,
At that age, at our age, what's three or four months?
You know, it's like three or four pounds.
Who cares?
But at her age, that's a long time, right?
So, Shelly, I'm thinking you need to, you know what, face the music and talk to him.
Susan's right.
Communicate with him.
Tell him what you're thinking.
And I unfortunately think you might have to be prepared that it might be time to move along.
He's slowing down.
There's a reason.
Yeah.
And some men will be honest.
and talk about it, and it might hurt, but better to know now.
And other men, you might just have to figure it out.
Or you might get tired of it and you end it.
You know, it's hard to say because we've lived so long, but it's, you know,
we can sit here and say, Shelly, you're going to meet someone else.
But heartbreak, especially if this is her first serious relationship, heartbreak is really hard.
I feel bad.
That kind of bummed me out.
I'm sorry for you.
I know. Do we have to end on that?
I mean, okay.
Wait, no wait.
We're going to play another round of would you rather today.
Okay, this better be happy.
And then we'll both pick which one we'd rather.
You got it, Kat.
Got it.
Would you rather have a five-minute conversation with your past self or your future self?
Are you going to guess?
What do you think I'd say?
My future self, right?
You think I'd rather talk to my future self?
Oh, am I supposed to guess what you're doing?
I'm just saying what I would do.
You'd rather talk to your future self?
You know what?
Honestly, I would rather talk with my past self
and what I would tell myself is,
Kathy, you're okay.
Be who you are.
You're going to be fine.
Build your confidence.
Go for your dreams.
Not everything's going to work out for you,
but just be you and live your life.
You'd rather be future?
My future self is like,
you've made it this far sweetheart just keep on going they're but you know what those are both good
thoughts they are all right would you read oh i know the answer of this one would you rather be a
member of the kardashian family or the obama family duh no brainer hey chris i'm coming over
i mean since i mean i'm katelyn and you're chris so you know what i don't know i i could
go either way. The Kardashians are Hollywood and the Obama family have been, you know, community
activists. I don't know. I could go either direction. Yeah. Okay. Would you rather eat cold pizza or
hot cereal for breakfast? What do you think I would rather eat? You, hot cereal.
Absolutely, you, cold pizza. That's a no brain or two. All right. Oh, this one's a no brand or two.
Wait, I'm just going to say, I'm going to answer this for both of us. Would you, would you,
rather be too hot or too cold? There is no such thing as too cold for Susan. The girl could
live in a freezer. Neither. Let me just tell you guys, when it's 75 and sunny and it's beautiful
breeze, Susan is hiding out in her freezer. I mean, she's... Not 75, 95, yeah. All right. Would you
rather always be too early or always be late? What do you think I'm going to say?
Early, both of us. Yeah, exactly. It's rude. It is.
rude to be late.
I know, but shit happens sometimes.
Yeah, shit happens.
Would you rather have your heart broken or break someone else's heart?
Ooh.
You're going to...
When my heart's broken, it hurts really, really bad.
See, you know how I always said?
And I don't like breaking hearts either.
I told you before, it takes me a year to end the relationship.
You know how you always say both and I say you can't choose both?
Yeah.
Okay.
Kathy, here it is...
No, I'm saying both.
You know why?
Why?
You learn important lessons from both.
You learn important lessons from having your heart broken
And you learn important lessons from breaking someone else's heart
All right, Kathy, would you rather have
Marry the person of your dreams
Or the career of your dreams?
Well, I think for, what do you think I'm going to answer?
You know the answer to that.
I just told, we already talked about this podcast.
Again, both.
I want both.
I want it all.
But I had to choose and I chose the man of my dreams.
I chose the man of my dreams.
Would you rather live in a big,
city or a small town?
What do you think I'd rather live in?
Small town.
You're absolutely right.
In my younger days, big city, now small town.
What about you?
It would depend on where.
I don't mind the city like.
How about Hudson, Indiana?
Okay, next question.
Would you rather vacation at the same beautiful place every year or a new unknown place every year?
I think you would rather go to an unknown place every year.
I'd like to try new things.
Yeah, I'm the same.
Yeah.
All right.
Would you rather be with someone who hates your favorite food or hates your pet?
Ew.
I don't care if he likes what I eat.
I was going to say, wait, so you would rather be with someone who hates your pet?
No, who hates my favorite food.
I'm still going to get it regardless.
Yeah, me too.
I don't want anyone.
I've dated a guy who hated my.
My two cats, you know where he is?
He's not with you.
He's in my rearview mirror.
Ciao, Bella.
Ciao, Bella.
