Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. It's important that we just reassure people that they're not alone, and there is help out there. The Good Stuff podcast, Season 2, takes a deep look into One Tribe Foundation, a non-profit fighting suicide in the veteran community. September is National Suicide Prevention Month, so join host Jacob and Ashley Schick as they bring you to the front lines of One Tribe's mission. One Tribe saved my life twice. Welcome to Season 2 of The Good Stuff.
Starting point is 00:00:27 Listen to the Good Stuff podcast on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. I'm Dr. Scott Barry Kaufman, host of the Psychology Podcast. Here's a clip from an upcoming conversation about how to be a better you. When you think about emotion regulation, you're not going to choose an adaptive strategy, which is more effortful to use, unless you think there's a good outcome. Avoidance is easier. Ignoring is easier. Denials is easier. Complex problem solving. takes effort. Listen to the psychology podcast on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hi, my name is Enya Yumanzoor.
Starting point is 00:01:06 And I'm Drew Phillips. And we run a podcast called Emergency Intercom. If you're a crime junkie and you love crimes, we're not the podcast for you. But if you have unmedicated ADHD... Oh my God, perfect. And want to hear people with mental illness, psychobabble. Yes, yes. Then Emergency Intercom is the podcast for you.
Starting point is 00:01:29 Open your free IHeartRadio app. Search Emergency Intercom and listen now. Welcome back, Happy Hour listeners. It's good to finally be back. Looking at my girl, Rachel. I've missed you. I miss you too. I was back in Minnesota.
Starting point is 00:01:45 I had to recharge, reset with some family. But it's good to be back now in California with my girl. Wait, Rebecca, how was that? You saw your niece who's just, you posted a picture. She's so big now. And I don't know how long it's been, but I know it's been a while since you've seen family. Oh, my God. Rachel, it was incredible.
Starting point is 00:02:02 Thank you for asking. I had not seen her. I hadn't seen any of my family for seven months. And that's the longest in my entire lifetime I've ever gone without seeing them. And so the last time I saw my niece, it was for her first birthday. She had just learned to walk. So now, fast forward seven months, she's literally zooming all over the place, dancing, crawling up the stairs. She learned how to crawl up onto the counter.
Starting point is 00:02:26 like open up the door. She's like a full-blown adult these days. An independent woman. She is such an independent woman. But she, it was just so good for my heart and my soul. I sobbed like a little baby saying goodbye to her. But it was great to just be back and to be back in Minnesota.
Starting point is 00:02:42 I mean, and like, and you know, given the time frame of everything, I was back when Dante Wright was murdered and all this craziness happening. So it was, it was, it was special to be home.
Starting point is 00:02:56 this time just to be with friends and family and to have more conversations and so um but you know there's like nothing coming home to your own bed your own space your own routine again you know i missed minnow but how have you been in the past week it's i april should have been an easy month for me um also happy belated birthday i don't know if we've said that yet on the podcast so we need to say it it's been a couple of weeks you guys and if you follow back because she had a fantastic time in cobb with friends and she looked amazing amazing Amazing. But it's been a busy month. You know, Brian's here now. We've moved in, but we're trying to get situated, turn this house into a home. But it's been great having him here. But it's like work has been crazy. I just, I need, I know there's no such thing as the work life balance, but I need to do a little bit better of giving more time to myself and to my, you know, like husband and friends away from work. So try to figure all that out.
Starting point is 00:03:58 And it's tough because you and Brian have been apart for a while. So it's like you get into your own routines and now it's just building your life together in a new space. But, you know, you do have a birthday coming up. So who knows if you might have a little getaway, a little R&R you need it. He says he does plan. It's a surprise, which I love surprises. You would think as controlling as I can be, I love a good surprise. Well, you work so hard.
Starting point is 00:04:24 you are always go, go, go, go. So when somebody else can kind of take control and just whisk you and do whatever and have you not have to worry about it, there's something so special about it. It's beautiful. You speak my language, Becca. I literally was like, for my birthday, I want to make no decisions. I want to just go with the flow. I love that.
Starting point is 00:04:45 I know people don't think I can do it, but I can. You can. I know you can. Brian better listen to this podcast and have something good planned. If not, I'm coming to him. But you guys, I know it's been so long. It's been kind of fun to have these episodes where we don't have to recap a season where we can just talk about whatever we want. We can bring whatever guests we want on.
Starting point is 00:05:08 And so today is an extra fun one because we are going to be all about the beauty, skin care health life right now. And we're bringing on an incredible guest and somebody who I have never officially met yet, but Rachel has just talked about her in such a high regard. So we're going to be bringing on her girl, Sonia Dakar, a spa, skin care line. Yeah. It seems more than a spa because it's just so in depth with all the things that she's able to do from like the oxygen mask to eye cupping and face cupping to the infrared light. I've gotten a facial before. There's a facial and then there's a Sonia Dakar facial. let's just say let's start there you posted on your story sometimes of the different
Starting point is 00:05:58 techniques that she'll be using on your skin and there was one i'm like well i have never seen that before what is this but i want to try it out and it's like it's so cool because yeah it's not just a salon or a spa it's kind of like i mean from what it looks like which to me is incredible is like science lab which is like all this crazy technology and product that can just make you glow and feel radiant and beautiful so I know you've you've urged me to go to her for quite a while now so I promise I will she is a chemist so it's it's interesting that you say it's like a science lab because she is a chemist and so there's so much detail placed into every single product in her skincare line and then just how she takes care of you so I'm so excited I feel like to share her
Starting point is 00:06:41 with our bachelor happy hour listeners so you guys can because for me and I think that's what's fun like before we bring her in we're going to talk about like kind of of our skin care tips and maybe a little bit of like how we got where we are and for me I never focused on skin care until I became a part of Basternation. It's like you don't know what you don't know. And so for me, what I was doing was working for me, which is pretty much nothing, which was a blessing. But as you get older and as you do in like life and stress and all of that, like your skin changes. And so I actually have a skincare routine now, which I never had before. Well, it's funny that you mentioned that because I feel like I was the same way.
Starting point is 00:07:24 I mean, prior to coming on to this show, it wasn't really until I was living in the mansion with 25 women where, you know, you shared that we had what, like two or three bathrooms between all of us. And you share countertop space. And I just remember some of these girls had product upon product upon product. And I was like, what the hell is this? Like before when I was living in Minnesota, I literally, I think I just put on like, I probably put on body lotion on my face. I hate that, but I honestly think that's what I did. Like, I would have, like, I was very good about, like, washing my face and taking off all the makeup and the dirt and the grime from the day.
Starting point is 00:08:01 But, like, I didn't have, I didn't know, A, I didn't know, like, serum, toner, cleanser, oils. And I didn't know what order to put it in until I was on the show. So, thank God, I had, like, some of my girls, like, shout out to Caroline who showed me like, okay, this is your first set. this is your second step so it wasn't until i think hometown week when i had a few days off in la like after my hometown that i remember going to a cvs with one of the producers we had a day off and i i had a note like a little posted of like okay step one cleanser step two hilarious toner and that's when i really like actually started like being more cognizant of like what the hell should i be doing my face right now right which like it was only three years ago
Starting point is 00:08:46 And I think a lot of people probably feel that way or maybe like you feel like there's so much information, right? Don't you feel like these days it's an overwhelming just like just an overload of information as far as what you're supposed to be putting on your skin and you're supposed to be using this serum or vitamin C, E, A, sunscreen, lotion. So I think what's important before we get into the actual expert, the actual genius of Sonia Dakar and we bring her on is maybe. be talking a little bit about like our must-haves and maybe my skin care routine is Sonia Dakar mixed with Sunday Riley. So I'm not even going to get into the details, but maybe like talking about some tips like a must have. Oh, must have. Well, for me these days, and actually this is something that I used prior to the Bachelorette because I've always like, I've always just noticed the like bags and lines and just like bags. I love the way you say it. I do. You're the only one
Starting point is 00:09:52 ever made fun of me. But I feel like my Minnesota actually probably came out stronger now since I've just been home. But under eye cream is like my go to. Or whether it's like the cream or like the patches that you can keep in the fridge, that's something that daily I need. Like along with my moisturizer. It is the, it just like makes you feel revitalized. It just kind of like, especially when they're the cold like patches, um, just gives you like an extra kick in your morning. It's kind of like zaps you awake to get your day started. And so that's like one of my go to things that I would always recommend to people like. And then another thing too I always say is like no one likes a dry bitch. So like moisturize. Just moisturize, moisturize, moisturize.
Starting point is 00:10:37 I agree. I think I, I'm going to piggyback on moisturizer because I think people like, oh, it's too much moisturizer, it's heavy. No, like you can't get enough. And so my tip is something that my mother gave me. We focus on our face. And P.S. is the side note. Justine Bateman has this new book out called Face.
Starting point is 00:10:57 And it's all about how much emphasis we put on this one square foot of area and how much how important, how much importance we place on it. Just like how much we focus on it. And it's just one square foot. It's, I haven't read it, but like my co-host read it and she talks about how interesting it is. And Justine Bateman is like, I'm not going to do anything in my face. She doesn't do filler. She has new Botox.
Starting point is 00:11:22 But she just talks about as a society, how much we focus on it. Yeah. And, but because we focus on our face, my mom always taught me, you have to focus on your neck. Your neck ages so fast. So what you're doing to your face, you should be doing to your neck too. So if you're moisturizing your face, moisturize your neck. And if you actually turn and look at the directions on really good skin care products, it tells you to do face and neck.
Starting point is 00:11:52 So my one tip is like you, you know how you see someone and their face is one way and their neck is totally different? It's like two different people. It's because they don't focus on the neck. Yeah. So focus on the neck when you're doing your skincare routine. Well, especially I just heard this phrase when I was actually in Mexico on my birthday with Tia is, have you heard of tech neck? because we're constantly on our phones looking down.
Starting point is 00:12:13 There's this thing called Techneck now. So, like, apparently when people go in for Botox, they'll get it in the neck too to help, I think. I don't know. I don't know. I'm not going to, like, even. But, like, okay, like, maybe we have, like, additional creases or something because our neck is, yeah. So, yeah, moisture. And that's something that actually I remember watching my mom when I was little.
Starting point is 00:12:36 She'd always put on the same, like, Olay face cream. And then she would, like, rub her neck. and um she always i don't know if it was her but some someone said like always rub out like go out to kind of like stimulate everything outward so that's right no but i always like feel weird when i do that and i have the necklaces in the way so i don't technically always do that but i've just heard it i don't either so but maybe pay attention to what your directions say because a lot of times it'll say put in an upward motion put in a circular motion so pay attention to that so i mean we could read directions all day but i think it's just
Starting point is 00:13:10 time to bring on the chemist, the genius, the badass businesswoman that she is. So everybody, please welcome Sonia DeKar. Welcome, Sonia. How are you? I'm wonderful. How about you? We're doing great. We are thrilled to have you on because let me tell you what. Rachel always talks about you and she always says, now that I'm living in L.A., I have to come see you and get some miracle work done to my face. So I'm finally so glad to be able to put the face. the name here. I'm so honored to be with you guys.
Starting point is 00:13:45 I'm so, I love of course, Rachel. Incredible deal. Now I see you guys work together. It's like, now I understand what the team is energetic
Starting point is 00:13:56 and then the concept and the energy of Rachel is like when she come to me, Rachel, we can be we can make network ourselves. Listen.
Starting point is 00:14:07 For my meeting every time. Sonia is made for TV. And this is what I love about her. I mean, obviously I go she has completely transformed my skin because I just had like a huge reaction in moving
Starting point is 00:14:20 to L.A. and it being such a different climate and we'll get into all of that. But what you also get from Sonia is just love, attention, and just a great time. Sonia and I talk about all the things you're not supposed to talk about. Politics, religion,
Starting point is 00:14:36 race. We talk about everything. And we have the most we argue but we have the most beautiful like it's how it should be right sonia like you should be able to have different opinions absolutely right and talk about it and learn from each other it's so great so yeah we're going to get into all of it because i need everybody to love sonia as much as i do well i have a feeling we will and so i'm not too see what i'm saying i already liked this energy um i was i was saying before you go on I was like, dang, we should have just, one of us should have been, like, with you and you
Starting point is 00:15:15 could have been working on our face as we were recording this and talking us through the entire process, all the things, because I'm sure our listeners are going to want to either come to you and know exactly what you do to us. But I heard through the grapevine that you have been in the beauty and skincare industry since you were, what, 15 years old? So what first are you into that? So really is, when I was LaClear girl, this is like really with the seed. It's been planned and me and unconsciously maybe in the beginning. And then it's floors, you know, later years on.
Starting point is 00:15:54 So when I was there eight years old, I used to go, like I was the first to go on a family, my father, and they used to send me to a grocery shop in the neighborhood. And there was been like Europe, like a small shop next to the apartment and stuff like these. So the woman there was like very iconic look. Like really remind me Mel and Dietrich, you know, the dancer, the German, which was iconic all over the world. And it was like skinned like a flawless, flawless. They really had like almost like mirror. Like it's so incredible, like marble.
Starting point is 00:16:29 And then she didn't have any kind of a stitch of. makeup on her except red lipstick. And her hair was like simple cut, like, you know, curry kind of like logg. It's very much into today, if you want to call it, but no makeup, not her eye or anything, just like lipstick. And after several visits, buying her grocery shop, one time I asked her, I said,
Starting point is 00:16:56 I want to know what are you doing for your skin? What is like your secret? She said, I don't do anything but oil. And I said, what did it mean? She said, I wash my face with oil, and I put oil and said, that's concrete in a plan. I said, wow, oil does so much. Of course, year by, high school, college and everything. And then I decided to go, like, more to learn about, like, how we can help people.
Starting point is 00:17:22 Because all my friends, a lot of my friends, there was, like, acne, teenager, hormonal, all of these things. So it's kind of, like, really concrete. I said, like, acne, I never had. in my life so it's not because of me I went to the direction but because of like all my surround me they have like interruption in the skin and could be so many reasons we'll go after luck into it and me myself I thought okay I had the privilege to have a perfect feeling but when I thought like the direction to go later on I thought maybe I will go to be a chemist I went to school graduate and I thought like how can I do the whole thing is that to uh pursue it and go like
Starting point is 00:18:07 really like actual reality to more further to do to produce products and to invent and they're formulated but what should I do for what okay so acne what type of acne they have so many types interruptionist skin medical you know reason could be so many so risin rosacea you know It's like eczema. And we're talking about, like, really medical thing. This side is, like, scarring from acne, cystic acne, just name it. So I decided to go to school later on and go to be a statistician just to know why I formulate the product and how it's going to hear. So I start, like, exercise after, you know, I graduated from school to exercise and, like, guinea pig my client.
Starting point is 00:18:53 Literally. Like, I know, like, what kind of a skin they have and what kind of, like, an answer I can give it. to the question, to frustration. So let's start all my career. When I find that, like, how was, like, I became, like, addicted to success. It means, like, every time, like, a client came with issues, I solved the problem. She went to a doctor. She went to pharmaceutical.
Starting point is 00:19:17 She went to a retail store. She went to an aesthetician at the time. Estitution at the time there used to be, like, massage a lot of massages. And then extraction with all kinds of attractions. tool of metal, which is scarred skin. So I became, after successful, I became, like, create, like, the, really the exercise and the practice of, like, I am now your last answer, I'm the, I'm the final answer, I'm the light and the dark, and basically, like, every customer should come to me, I have an answer
Starting point is 00:19:54 because of my philosophy of learning and practical. So I knew how to formulate the product, but I create also how to manipulate the equipment, but how to come with that an answer for my client all the way. So my treatment was no massages. We should start calling that a boot camp. Like I remember one from Good Morning America, the ankle used to come to me,
Starting point is 00:20:22 And I used to have a boutique and Beverly Boulevard between Switzerland and La Seneca. And it was like full of people. There was like really a zoo, like literally 900-scar food, but it was like a crazy, like a sandwich. And I find out like when a place is small and so many people, it's just attract more people. But it's happened. Like literally, that's what happened. And she said, wait a minute. It's like a zoo here.
Starting point is 00:20:48 I don't like it. I'm not relaxing. And I said, look at your face. And I took the mirror and I said, this is what you have. And that's what you said here. You have like, you know, the acceleration, aging, puffy eyes, all of these things. I said, this is like basically this is a boot camp. This is a fitness.
Starting point is 00:21:04 You know, that you're not going to like it. That's either this way or highway. So when I thought like a boot game, a fitness and everything and that's kind of just my head, I said, basically we don't do massages here. We do like A to Z, like clear in the skin, no matter what is the background of it, what is the reason of it? And we find the final answer to our client. And that's how Michael reached out at the time.
Starting point is 00:21:27 Sonia, I want to talk about your career because a lot of women listen to our podcast. And we love to give advice. We love to give tips. But we also love to tell stories. And for you, I mean, what was it like starting your own company at a time when, honestly, you weren't just young. It's that it probably wasn't normal for women to do that. Can you talk about, like, some of those hurdles that you had to overcome to be a woman and start your own business?
Starting point is 00:21:59 Well, you know, honestly, if you think about it, like, since young age, I thought, like, I didn't see, like, a woman less from a man, female less than a male. I saw myself like equal opportunity the day I know myself, like a few years old. And then practically is, you can see in my one of my bottle here even, you see the why it's Sony that the woman here I grew up in such an early age and teenager to look like the woman is like the freedom. When her hand is open, look at the sky, he said, hey, guy, you know, upstairs, hey, God, the sky's a limit for me. I can do anything and everything.
Starting point is 00:22:45 I can reach the sky's the limit. It just, I put it in my hand and just if I want enough to go there and nothing going to stop me. And that's what it is. So it's basically when I start, I didn't see myself, honestly, is a man try to bully or try to take from me. I never walk in a sector with a lot of women and men together. So it's less salary, less payroll, or that's not equal opportunity. I saw myself that day one, I know when I was a few years old, I can do anything and nobody can stop me. Nobody can stop me.
Starting point is 00:23:26 When I was like a few years old and my teacher wanted to change my name from like Russian name to Hebrew name, Sarah. And I run, you know, from school and I had to watch at a mind by myself. I was a few years old. That probably I could be kidnapped. I could be like being harmed by animal, like in a dog, like wild dog was in the street at the time. But I, you know what? I was so, like, make my mind so strong.
Starting point is 00:23:57 I said, nobody can't change my name unless I want to, but I don't want to. And she cannot force me. So, you know, when she finds out, she was terrified and she could not find me in a class. She found out like when I got home, And she said, okay, you're going to get your name. It means like you can get everything you want if you just put this in your mind.
Starting point is 00:24:18 Sonia, I want to get into skincare because we have so many. I feel like it's a, it's such a hot topic. And admittedly, I've never been into skin care until I became a part of the Bachelor franchise. Truly, I've told you this. All I did was rub alcohol on my face. and use a little vassaline. It's very embarrassing. And as my skin continues to change as I get older,
Starting point is 00:24:45 I realize I can no longer do that. So I'm really been invested in skincare and you've really helped me grow as far as, like, what's necessary for my skin. So I know it's going to be hard to, like everybody's skin is different and they're affected by different things. But if there's a tip that you can give,
Starting point is 00:25:06 like the one thing that people should have, have in their skin care routine, whether it's in the daytime or nighttime, what would it be? Okay, so one tip to, you know, it's hard to say one because you need something to wash your face which is suit your skin. Okay, so if somebody you have like, you know, it's like, yeah, it's like you need a wash your face because it's not fair to take motion. without washing your face and wash your face with water is not enough it's good it's good but just to refresh that water if you want to miss your skin but not to wash any dirt it's not going to penetrate and break the dirt and the pollution makeup or whatsoever like completely out so i always say like
Starting point is 00:25:57 a few things they have to be and your and your kit and their bag or in a bottle or something like this so you have to like three things it's a must meet one is a wash which is such a skin. It cannot be loose or salt. It can be like oil wash or could be like mild like a gel wash or could be even a milk cleanser. That's like one of the things you have to figure out what is your skin going to be like more of that complement your skin. Cannot be like one thing I can tell you like a wash cannot leave the skin it's too tight or cannot leave your skin like you still feel like a flame on your skin, you have to feel, you have to feel like soft, breathe, and you have to feel like completely clean, but not tight and tingle or anything like this. So that's a wash, have to be like
Starting point is 00:26:48 mask. And I always said, have to be oil. You know, if you don't have moisturizer, oil. Oil will suit, like my oil, Omega-369, I formulated 30 years ago. And basically, is up to day, is the number one oil in the ward because it's like the essential fatty acid can kill bacterial that's well Rachel can be you know the fat essential oil kill in fact infection you know if you have a lesion open if you have like acne if you have like any type of skin completely destroyed and healing the skin and no skin just as well so I think oil is number two the most important thing and then also us sunscreen. Sunspin is appreciated.
Starting point is 00:27:37 Without sunscreen, without SPF, and SBF need to be only number 30. Number 30 is like 98% UVA and UVB blocking. Anything that's, you know, it's about 45% or 70 or anything like this. It's only gimmick of company to attract more people, but it knows such a thing. All you need like, it knows such a thing 100%. So the 30 is like 98, and the number,
Starting point is 00:28:01 15 is 94, UVA and UVB. So it means it's still protect you from cancer or any kind of like trauma from the sun, like aging or a discoloration, you know, it's a lot of like sun damage, make like pregnancy mass stuff like these. It's enough, like even 15, but I like to have like 30 to also have like more flawless skin, so not their contamination. That's the three things, must, must, must, must, must. out. But also I was said on the tip I can recommend, don't go to sleep with black makeup.
Starting point is 00:28:38 You have to wash your face. I used to do it. You have to wash your makeup is chemical. And even if, let's say, you didn't even put makeup in a day time, just like all day long you're sitting next to a virtual wall at home and you walk on computer and with office, the skin is wet. The skin gets tired. The skin has received pollution from the air. Like we're breathing dust all day long. Even if our house, we feel like very, very clean. So to get rid of it and have the force to be breath and then apply all the products back before you go to sleep half an hour.
Starting point is 00:29:12 And they're very, very big tip. I can tell everybody change pillow case every day, 100%. Game changer. Shoot, like I was starting doing that. Because we do it night, we sweat, we have saliva. We don't understand. If we have a partner or husband, we kiss each other, it's all bacteria. you have to change the pillow case 100%.
Starting point is 00:29:35 And also pillowcase, I always say don't take cotton, take polyester because the cotton accumulate more moldew and dust, and polyester completely, completely doesn't stick on it. That's number one. And number two, change two towel a day, a.m. and p.m. Every towel you wash because the towel became like wet and you use it in the evening while it's way to accumulate more dust and more bacterial. So change it.
Starting point is 00:30:00 and even if by Target, like 2,000 a day, like buy like $2 a towel and have a 24 towel, just in case if you don't have time to wash it this week, so you have like enough towel to the week or 10 days so they can recycle it again all the way. That's the, that's a tip doesn't cost you a lot of money, doesn't cost you a lot of money to wash your fee, doesn't cost you like a minimum product also, you know,
Starting point is 00:30:26 how to take care of your skin, I think, like this is like number one. And it's also not just make your skin as healthy, preventing your aging much faster. So it means that you can, by take care of your skin, it starts from early age, like even like 17, 15, SPF on your skin, wash your face with a good cleanser, I promise you, and then like 20-something, nourish your skin more like, don't think about, oh, my God, is anti-aging, nor such a thing anymore anti-aging. You don't wait until you gain 100 pounds to lose weight. You know what?
Starting point is 00:31:00 When you have two times, you can lose it fast. You don't wait until you get wrinkle and acne and then start running to a doctor, pharmaceutical, anesthetician, and you're lucky if you find a good one, make sure your skin very good and find a good answer very quick. So sometimes it takes long time,
Starting point is 00:31:17 take like years and years until you find the final answer. So if you take care of your skin from early age, honestly, you can defer aging and you can leave with the skin, I will call it camera ready. That's perfect most of the time. I just want to say, before Becca, ask her question,
Starting point is 00:31:33 I just want to say, I am a living testimony to this. You guys, when I first saw Sonia, she told me to change my pillowcases, never even thought to do that, to change my washcloths twice a day. I have done that consistently. You can go to Amazon, wherever you go. You can find towels cheaply. It's consistency, too, is the tip. if I miss one day from doing what Sonia tells me to do, I can see the change in my face.
Starting point is 00:32:02 So it's all about consistency too. And then just the last thing, the oil, the omega boost oil that she's talking about, I have had a terrible experience with lamination of the eyebrows. Sonia knows. I walked into her place with no eyebrows. None. And since she told me to start using the oil, I use it in the morning. I use it at night.
Starting point is 00:32:24 My eyebrows, I know I have makeup on, but I will eventually, you guys, like, follow me on Instagram. I'll show you. My eyebrows have completely pretty much grown back. I'm going to show you a before and an after of what it is. So the oil doesn't just help your skin. It also helps, like, for me, with the hair growth of my eyebrows growing back. I have to tell you one thing.
Starting point is 00:32:46 I have, like, one time she got, like, from some IV kind of poison and, And she stopped having, like, in Texas, she was traveling. She had, like, a mucus, like, in her hand, like, stop oozing. And she put the new spawning. That's like the normal thing. She got allergy from the scorn, which is some people do, do not many, but the son. She got infection and gangrene. She started having, like, oozing infection all the way, you know, start to be, like, on her wrist, start traveling.
Starting point is 00:33:21 And she said, the only thing she had to think about. herself, she had the blue butterfly in her and her bag, like, you know, her bag or whatever she was, and she takes a little bit of it, and she massaged, she said, stopping the bleeding completely, and the skin became like the skin after a few days became like, uh, we, uh, close up. So it means like the oozing stuff, close up, the redness and irritation can fail, phase or completely away. And basically, she said, it saved her life. And that's really true because if she will not know that's allergy, it could be like very, very feral. So the blue bottle is like even medical answer and organic vegan substance.
Starting point is 00:34:05 I'm so proud of it. I really am. Love it. I cannot wait to think of it. I cannot wait to stock up. And I'm sure our listeners will want to as well. So can you tell everyone where they can find you on social media, on your website, where they can come to purchase all of your incredible products.
Starting point is 00:34:23 Yeah. So first of all, I want to tell everybody our products is like I was one of the pioneer three years ago. I came with green products. I never wanted to have any kind of like artificial fragrance in my products or civilizer or any color, artificial color of my products. All my products were three years ago. If any color into it, it's a natural, 100% green, vegan, plant base. That's number one. People have to know if a pregnant woman or lupors or cancer patient got to be, all be safe with this product. That's number one. They can find it on a website that's on it across the ski cleaning.com or, you know,
Starting point is 00:35:08 Rachel, can you put it there also? It's on a website. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. We'll put all the information in the description of the podcast, like on the website, where to go. Can I be nosy and can you tell us some of the famous people you work with? You know what I take care of
Starting point is 00:35:29 like a Buenos Patra for like honestly since she was with Brett Pied for like, what is it? Like almost 29 years. Oh my gosh, yeah. I got 14 and then you see what I said? Yeah, yes.
Starting point is 00:35:43 You know, honestly, I feel it this way. You know, age is only in mind and that's it. So the way how you present yourself, what is like your state of mind. But, yeah, so Jennifer Lawrence, you know, like musician, you know, like corporate and Drake. You did Drake? We haven't talked about that.
Starting point is 00:36:06 You didn't tell me you did Drake. So that's great. So it's for men as well. We didn't ask you that question. Yeah, it is more like a private guy and it doesn't, you know, we don't Instagram him or. or anything, it's like conduct, a private, and we love him. It's one of the nicest person I've ever met, honestly.
Starting point is 00:36:27 It's a beautiful person in and out. So, yeah, we do have quite a bit like people, but we love them. We love everybody here. That really is not such a red carpet to nobody. Everybody is equally being loved, appreciated, respect it. My heart is so going to them. I don't care if it's secretary or student. or somebody come to me with a private jet.
Starting point is 00:36:52 It really doesn't make any different. That's true. You feel at home from the moments you get off the elevator. Absolutely. You make everybody feel very welcome. Oh, Sonia, I'm so, listen, Becca, Sonia and I have been talking about this forever. Well, Rachel's been talking about having you on, Sonia, for quite some time.
Starting point is 00:37:10 So I'm so thrilled that you could join us today. Thank you so much. Our listeners are very diverse. And so if you're a woman of color or man of color, and you're listening to the show, it was a question that I had for Sonia when I came in because my friends that referred me to Sonia
Starting point is 00:37:26 were white, Whitney and Christina, you know who they are, Becca? And so it was a question, like, do you, can you take care of my skin? I have hyperpigmentation. I have scarring. I have darker spots, like discoloration.
Starting point is 00:37:41 And like Sonia told me, like, I'm the best of the... You don't even hit back circle under your eyes. Zero. I don't get dark circles under my eyes, but I do like have like under my chin. know like it gets discolored and so sonia's not lying she's the best in the business she has my skin i i i've put this on my instagram and i'll continue to do it you don't understand how
Starting point is 00:38:00 bad i've never had an issue with acne until i moved to los angeles so i'm like so grateful for sonia she's brought my skin back to life um so i can't rave about her enough so i hope everybody listening to this podcast will go to sonia's website sonia dacar s o n y I-A-D-A-R.com, get all the products we talked about and even more. Schedule an appointment. Like, it doesn't matter where you are listening to this. You can get our products anywhere. And if you're in L.A., stop by, get a facial.
Starting point is 00:38:33 You won't regret it. And Rachel, we can add, like, our products really is good for, like, teenager after, like, any age could be men and women, all background, all color. Really is, like, it's no such a thing. my product is only for one group and doesn't go for another group which really for every person they can find the answer
Starting point is 00:38:56 and my I call it like my kids my second kid my wife yes you're baby everybody you're welcome I'm buying the blue butterfly bomb as we speak it's up on my phone everyone so thank you so much
Starting point is 00:39:09 you're never going to be like you can ask them recommend it to your best friend or your mom oh for sure I'm gonna I'm only I'm gonna get it for my mom for mothers day for future birthday gifts for my future boyfriend whenever that day comes everyone so thank you so much something very funny i always say my very welcome i have to tell you like someone and like funny thing i always said to my client when they if they're single or they a new marriage just like uh rachel i said just have your husband or your boyfriend put him like what do for him like a
Starting point is 00:39:43 mini facial Friday night or Saturday night and, you know, just then put the little bit of the oil, omega oil, massage it, put the blue butterfly, put them as before. And I promise you, after everything you ask, it would say, yes, ma'am. It's romantic. It's beautiful. The product. And you know what's the dangerous about it, Rachel? It's like, after sometimes they tell me after a few weeks, it said, my product is finished
Starting point is 00:40:11 so well. Like, you teach me how to do him. And now he's like, speaking with his head, this thing fully. The forehead and now it's a bad habit, you know, we got my boyfriend around them. But it's kind of funny. That's true.
Starting point is 00:40:25 It's true. Sonia, thank you so much. Thank you so much. Of course. I want to thank you so much. And Beka, thank you so much for having me there. Yes, I'm going to have to be in person. I cannot wait to see you back.
Starting point is 00:40:41 And Becca, you're going to. welcome to come to my place. You've been invited. I know. I will. I promise you that I will come set up an appointment and I can't wait to look 20 years younger. Woo! She's a talker. She is a talker, but let me tell you what. You should see my notes right now of everything I have listed to buy and to do. Your skin's great, but for some reason I really had a strong reaction coming from Miami to L.A. Rachel, so did I. I have the same thing. It was terrible. Oh, he did. Yeah, so she's really nursed me back to help. I can't miss one day without going to, like, doing what Sonia's routine is.
Starting point is 00:41:20 Like, I will admit, you guys, I'm not perfect about the pillowcase, okay? The one on there has been on there for a little bit now. Silk or polyester. I use silk just also because of my hair, like if I don't want to wrap it at night. But I'm not the best at that, but I am great with the face towels. I am great at those. That's funny for something I thought about. Like when I think of skincare, I think of, okay, like, what do I put on my face after I shower or before bed?
Starting point is 00:41:48 But, like, the towel makes sense. And I just think about, like, I'm disgusting. How often I reuse? Just like, you're not alone. Same towel for a couple days. And then, like, you know, once it gets a little, like, too damp or smell like dirty, whatever, too much makeup, I'll, that's when I'll toss it out. But, like, mm-mm. You're not alone.
Starting point is 00:42:06 Nice because now that I think about it, maybe that's why at hotels, they always have so many extra towels all over there. I said like to move on face one. Exactly. I'm going to stock up. I can't wait. Honestly, like I have had my phone out and I've been adding every time she said something new. I've just been adding it to my cart. So I can't wait to just stop up.
Starting point is 00:42:23 Well, now the door is open to you too. So, you know, you got to get in there. I'm just going to go there. So I'm so glad we had her on because I feel like everyone, you know, can, I think most of our listeners love, like when we do beauty routines or skincare routines or hair routines, especially on Instagram. So it's fun to finally have a professional sit down and talk about what she's seen works, what she knows she would recommend. And a trailblazer, like a business owner, someone who's paved away in this industry. And I think that's what her story is incredible as well. And just the confidence.
Starting point is 00:42:58 And I love the fact that she can feel that another women and her daughter and her grandchildren. It's great. So she just seems like somebody I want to meet in real life very soon. Now you give yourself about two to three hours. for that appointment, okay? Well, Rachel, I think a couple months ago you went to see her and we had to do a podcast that evening and who showed up late and when she warned us. Five hours.
Starting point is 00:43:21 But that was my first one. That was the first time we were getting to know each other. We were falling in love with one another. You know, it was, you will not be there for five hours. I was going to plan a full afternoon to be with her. It's really worth it for salon, so I can't wait. So you guys, thank you again for hanging out with us. And a huge thank you to Sonia.
