Here's a clip from an upcoming conversation about how to be a better you.
When you think about emotion regulation, you're not going to choose an adaptive strategy, which is more effortful to use, unless you think there's a good outcome.
Avoidance is easier.
Ignoring is easier. Denials is easier. Complex problem solving. takes effort.

Welcome back, Bachelor Happy Hour listeners.
And I am so freaking pumped for this episode
because we are not only talking about the premiere
that we just saw of Katie and all that she is
of The Incredible Bachelor at last night.
But we obviously have to give you guys
the most exclusive Inside Scoop.
And as I mentioned last week,
Catherine is no longer co-hosting with me,
but have no fear
because we have none other
than one of the eyes, the ears.
We have my dear friend
Tasha back with Bachelor Happy Hour.
And she is actually not just going to be here
for one week.
I needed her throughout the entire season to recap
because, again, who better than somebody
that was there at,
where were you guys?
We were in New Mexico.
That was in New Mexico herself.
So if all these clues didn't give it away, we have Tasha joining us for this full season.
And I cannot wait because Tisha, I love you.
And I know you are going to give us such good behind the scenes.
So welcome back.
I am so freaking excited for this.
Like I'm ready to just like go balls the walls with inside scoop information.
Whatever I can do to you, like give you guys, I don't know, a little peek behind the curtain, if you will.
I mean, obviously everyone knows you because you were.
just the most recent bachelor prior to Katie. But we, I just like, this is going to be so fun
because we've never been able to have somebody who has been there for an entire season co-hosting
a podcast. Right. And I can't wait because like you were there, you were her mentor, you were her
confidant, her friend, a shoulder to cry on, all the things. And you probably saw so much go down.
But for any season, there are also things that you don't always see that as you watch it back
with us viewers, you're starting to pick up on and hear and see, which I think is really exciting.
So I can't wait because.
Yeah, this episode, I even learned things about what happened behind the scenes that I didn't even know.
You know what I mean?
Because I couldn't hear some of the things that the guys were saying.
I was really focused on Katie.
But I will say, it's kind of hard giving you guys an inside scoop for the first night,
just because I kind of want to, you know, I can't give away too much of the magic.
You want to give us a little taste test, but not like the full.
Entree. Okay. But I'm talking like each episode, I'll be able to give you guys a little bit more. Yeah. Well, I can't, I can't wait because I mean, it has to be, because like I said, you were the most recent Bachelorette prior to Katie. And so it has to be like kind of this weird feeling for you where you probably feel so much of the emotion and the feeling that she was going through, but also like with so much less stress because you're like, I'm good. I found love.
I feel for her, but like, I'm not, I'm now not the lead.
So the pressure's off a little bit.
And so, right.
Yeah, I got to go home after, which was nice.
Right.
I'm like, hey, babe, go take off your makeup.
Go take off your shoes.
We're doing it again in like three hours.
Yeah.
I'm going to go get that a little bit of rest.
But I was heavily invested.
And when she was crying, I started crying.
When she was hurt, I was pissed off for her.
You know what I mean?
Like there's, you just get really invested.
Yeah.
Because I'm helping her.
I'm holding your hand to this whole thing.
Yeah, and who better because you and Caitlin both understand exactly what she's going through. And you become friends. So it's probably like you have this not a mama bear mentality, but like that like don't mess with my friend's mentality and like nothing but the best for my baby.
Yeah. She's like a true sister. It's kind of crazy. Like, you know, we want to be those girls that you basically pick up the phone call and you say every tidbit of information that happened from the day. Or it's the moment he picked you up to the second he dropped you back off at the half.
house, you know what I mean? We just want to be those girls for her. And we were. And honey,
I'm telling you, it is a windy road, but it's going to get good. Well, it looked like you
has had a windy road driving in, you and Caitlin. I love the old convertible throwback with
the bandanas in the hair. You pick them up, you drop them off. Like, that was such a TV moment.
I was like, oh, funny, yes. Whoever had a ride in style. Oh, my God. Well, you did. You did. You
did. And one thing overall that I want to say is I love premiere nights, but there was just something
so different. And I think no one knew what to expect without Chris Harrison. This is something we have
never, ever seen before. And so I absolutely loved having you and Caitlin there. Like for me, as a viewer,
as a past Bachelorette that kind of knows what's about to transpire and what Katie's feeling,
I absolutely loved having this girl gang. I thought it was incredible.
I think it's just what she needs.
I cannot wait to see you two with her this entire season.
Like, I know people always, sometimes it's difficult to handle change and to embrace it and
accept it.
But like, I freaking love it.
And I'm not just saying this because this is a Bachelor podcast.
Like I read what people say, they think that we have to be like all buttoned up and
can't, you know, form our own thoughts and opinions.
But like, this is me being me as like a woman who loves women empowerment.
I think this was such a good idea
for the show this season and so
I cannot wait.
I'm going to say that like 17 more times
but I cannot wait.
Thank you.
It's been such an amazing opportunity
and I still pinched myself
that I was even a part of it again
because I wish I had a mentor
when I was a bachelor at.
I mean, I think we all do, you know?
Yeah.
So it was, I will say though,
we also had no idea what we were doing
Caitlin and I. So just kind of like go easy on us because we're trying to figure it out too.
But I think it's the moments where you're kind of all like, hi, what are we doing? We're just here
for you. We're going to see like, you know, we don't know. But you at least had each other to lean on,
which I think is so special and so important for most viewers, but especially women to see
in this day and age. And speaking of incredible women, I can't wait for this episode because
there's so much that we have to talk about and we need to just get right into it and this is a special
treat for not only you guys but for us as well but we have the incredible comedian podcast host she's a
writer we have Heather MacDonald here with us today to give all of her thoughts and opinions on
the first night because she has been a bachelor bachelor bachelor's fan since the beginning so we're
going to talk it all through with her today and she also has a special message for us so everyone
please welcome Heather MacDonald Heather how long have you been to
fan of the show. Since
the first season.
No. I watched it. It was my
first house. I was just recently
married. And
I was just like right
off the bat, just so
intrigued by the whole concept.
And what was his name?
Alex Bichelle.
So, you know, and then
how the two girls and how you picked the really
young one. You guys are all too young to
probably even know the first season. But
it is. And then just recently,
they put like an old season on the season with um the young the single dad and the girl that he
picked the second time when they just put like an old season on like hulu and it was so weird to
see like skinny brows and no one wearing fake eyelashes and thin lips and uh you know sky tops and
flaring unflattering jeans like that is high death and like everyone's just better looking now all
around but the guys were still hot but the girls have improved um but it was yeah but it's kind of fun
to look back and watch it you know and and be like oh my god you know and there was this one girl then
there was also single mom that i like went and looked up to see like did she ever get married
because she was really into jason and she had like a really strong accent and uh so yeah i think that
they what's fun about the bachelor's they are really fun they you know to hold
up. Like it's, I wish they'd put them all out, you know, to kind of see what, what it was like
10 years ago, you know, because it's been on for so long. But yeah, I've always enjoyed it.
And even years where I'm like, I'm done, like, Monday comes around and I'm like, okay. You're right.
You're right back on the couch watching it. Let me pour that glass of wine. Have some girlfriends over.
What was through, I mean, there's been obviously so many seasons. We've had what, 20, I think six
bachelor seasons and now what is the 17th? Is Katie the 17th bachelor's? She's 17th, but
like I'm really the 17th. But you know what? Okay. Yeah. You know who it's the most fun to watch
with our teenage sons now? Because they're like really and you're getting, oh my God,
like watch it with guys because they're like, what? He's so creepy. What's he doing? She just met him.
Why is he saying that? Like it's really fun to like see their reaction and
because they aren't expert watchers of it.
So it's like a new show for them.
It's very fun.
So I think get your boyfriends and stuff involved
because they love, especially the Bachelorette.
Guys will much more enjoy watching The Bachelorette, in my opinion,
because they're like ripping on the guys
and they're also kind of learning what a girl really likes.
Yeah.
Versus all these girls.
Interesting.
Yeah.
And then I, yeah.
It's so funny meeting men now because not like men for myself,
but just like men in general who are fans
of the show because they always
blame it on their girlfriends
or wives, they're always like
my wife's sisters. But then
they get hooked. It's like they
and they'll watch it without their wives
or their sisters or their girlfriends, whatever it is.
Like they actually, I've met
so many diehard fans that try
to play it off like, you know, I only
watch it because of the girl in my life. It's like,
mm-mm. You get hooked. And then you start to
you start to like love certain
people and you want to see them.
future and see how they are on paradise or winter games like whatever it might be it's just like this
ongoing circle that you're like but what about them and are they going to come back are they going
to find love we want to root for someone so it just it's i always say this it's i mean it's the longest
one of the longest running shows for a reason because like people love drama people love love
but it's just like everyone just like cycles through and you find the people that you love and that you
hate and that you want to root for so yeah you get attached to them it brings people together yeah all right
Heather, we are so excited to have you on. I need to first start by saying that I have been a fan
for a while now. So thank you for joining us on Bachelor Happy Hour today. How are you?
I'm good. It's great to be here. Thanks for having me. We can't wait to get all of your thoughts
on what we saw during the premiere and the upcoming episode. But in the meantime, there's so much to
recap. And I feel like week one premiere night is always one of my personal favorites because you're
not only meeting so many people and there's so much to take in, but it's just like lively and
exciting. So that's why we wanted to bring you on at the top to recap all of this because,
you know, I'm sure all of us girls have many thoughts on these men. And Tisha, you were obviously
there. So I want you to actually take this at the top. Give us your like overall feels of
of night one with Katie. Absolutely. But also it's going to be really exciting to hear your guys's
take as you just watched the episode because I was there and I saw a lot more.
So it's going to be really fun
to get your guys input. Also, Heather makes the funniest
comments about all these dudes. I'm like, I just cannot
wait to get started. This is going to be a good.
Yes.
One thing I wanted to start off by saying
is I loved
you and Caitlin being there. I loved
that you guys were peeking through the window
the entire time. Like, you
could go out and check on her and get your
own take on the men, but it's just such a different
vibe when you have just like this
badass girl game that I loved.
So yeah, obviously,
it starts off by you and Caitlin rolling up in a convertible riding through the desert.
And I love the fact that you guys get out of the car and it's like you weren't even wind blown.
Like you were just ready to go in your dresses.
You looked stunning.
What was that like then, you know, knowing that you were going to surprise Katie and be able to
be her confident and mentor?
Because she had no idea you were coming.
Yeah.
Well, first of all, I wish there were bloopers for that because Caitlin and I actually got stuck in the
middle of the desert. We hit like a pothole and like the car wouldn't turn back on because
it was stick shift. And it was a mess. Wait, who was driving? Who was driving? Caitlin, if we,
if I was driving, we wouldn't have made it. Okay. She was definitely driving. And it was just so
fun. I mean, her and I were both pretty nervous just because it's this new territory for us too.
But like we've been in her shoes, but we haven't been in the position we were in. But,
We could not wait to get there and just help her out.
We were freaking out.
In fact, I almost think we both pied our pants, like, walking up to her because we were trying to be so quiet because she had no idea that we were there.
And it was just so fun surprising her and being able to just like really hold her hand through this entire journey.
Well, we can actually relate like firsthand that we've been literally standing there, waiting for limos to drive up, talking to these guys, experiencing those first impressions.
And it's a lot for one person to handle.
let alone not really have a sounding board to kind of like just bounce off any and every thought
that you have. So it was really freaking fun. And I'm not going to lie, some of those guys were
crazy coming out of the limo. You didn't see half of it. But it was amazing. Let's talk about the
limo arrivals because there wasn't anything like super, super wild. There was some, you know,
costumes, some gimmicks. But for the most part, it was like fairly straightforward and tame.
Um, so let's go through because I don't want to cover all 30 men because, as you said, like, it went so fast. We didn't see a lot of them. Right. So for, uh, both Heather and Tisha, what was your favorite limo arrival, would you say? Heather, I have to hear yours because I know it's going to be good. Um, well, I think, and I forgot his name. Is it Thomas? It's the tall guy. Cause I'm tall. So I'm attracted to tall people. He's tall. He's got dark hair. Do you know what I'm talking about? The bow type.
The first guy out of the limo.
Maybe, yeah.
I thought he was just like good looking, but not crazy good looking, like not model, too
much of a model.
Like, he was still a relatable looking guy.
And he has really good eye contact and he's pretty charming.
So for me, that was probably the one that I would have given my rose to.
So do you usually like it to be short and simple and sweet like how his was?
Like, he didn't have any gimmicks coming out.
Or do you like the craziness, like,
the guy at the RV or the guy with the truck.
I am not into that,
but I do think it adds to the show that,
you know,
hey,
the guy's willing to go do some different first impression thing,
fine.
But I think just like a good looking guy
in a cute suit and kind of see if that moment,
you sometimes really can see if there's initial chemistry as a viewer.
Like you can see it through the TV.
So I kind of just like the straightforwardness of just,
but like the guy that brought the,
watch that started to say this was my grandmother's. I was immediately thinking like, oh my God,
like seriously the first night, like, if this really means anything to you, this is going to be
so awkward when you ask for it back. And then he was like, no, I'm not a creep. I got at the airport.
So I thought that was pretty. It was really clever. That was like actually funny.
Yeah. Yeah. Tasha, what was your favorite? Obviously, you were there. So you saw it in real life.
So looking back and now seeing how the night went,
Did it, like, was it different when you were actually there versus watching it back on TV?
Well, yeah, because we couldn't hear what any of the guys were saying.
We were just watching the reactions and, like, she would look back and give us, like, a thumbs
up or a thumbs down or, like, make these movements and gestures.
Oh, I saw the air hump for one of the men.
We were freaking out because it's so funny because there was other guys in the limo and they were
watching her do that.
She didn't even realize.
I love her, though.
She's just, like, balls to the walls.
She is who she has and owns it, and I love it.
Yeah.
So it was very different watching it back because we finally got to hear what the guys were saying.
And we're like, oh, okay, that makes sense because she was so smitten by some of them.
But, I mean, I think she loved the gimmicks.
Like, she loved the guy with the truck and the guy with the cat suit with someone obviously.
Oh, she was so into the cat man.
Smit, you guys, she was smitten.
She was a smitkin.
She was a sminkin.
He was so excited about it.
I mean, would you guys fall for a guy with the cats?
I don't know personally.
I would.
I'm such a costume person, though.
I feel like I'm kind of like weird in that way like Katie, though.
Like, I like something kind of awkward.
Yeah.
That would have turned me off so much.
Same.
But, I mean, I'm glad she kept him and liked him.
But, like, for me, I would have been like, eh.
Got to go.
Yeah, with them, and the full whiskers on the face, I would have been like, come on, dude.
It was a lot.
It is charming and his personality does come through.
So, you know, and I thought it was interesting.
No, wait, I have a question.
So you asked, you know, was she truly surprised?
So she really did not know that you guys were the host?
Because I feel like.
No.
She had no idea.
So who did she think was going to be the host?
She thought she was just going to do it on her own.
She didn't think she was going to have a host?
No.
I think she just thought, like, they had just told her that they, like, she was just going to,
they were to help her navigate through, like, the end and out.
So she had no idea.
Honestly, I don't know how she would have, like, if I was her and said yes to being in this role
without a host or like a confidant, somebody to mentor and guide me, I'd be like, I don't
think I can do this.
I got to sit this one out, guys.
And I just love the fact that you guys snuck up behind, and she was so genuinely shocked that I thought it was just so relatable, but like so endearing with her reaction. And you guys being like, no, we got this. Like, let's go actually sit down and have this like chat that we always see at the beginning. Yeah. I thought it was great that she asked you, what do you wish? What's your biggest tip? And when Caitlin goes, don't just miss anybody the first night. I was like, well, you're going to have to because you only have a certain number of your posts.
Yeah. You're going to have to dismiss five of them.
Right. But I knew, I understood what she meant, being like, you know, your first impression or the one that you think is going to be the one that's really going to be your dude.
Don't necessarily, you know, be so fixated on one person.
Yeah. Like maybe Claire was. Maybe don't do that. Like, like, realize that you might, someone really may pop up later on. And so, and you could attest to that. So I thought that was kind of, then I was like, that's cool.
It's true, though, like, I mean, we're creatures of habit at times, you know what I mean?
Especially like when we see a guy like, oh, he's definitely hot and he probably looks like the five other guys that we have dated in the past.
So I think what she was just saying also, too, it's like there were some people that she kind of had her eyes on immediately.
And we were just like, just wait.
There's some other guys.
Like, there's even a guy in a damn box.
You haven't even seen him yet.
So just wait for a second, which I love the box, by the way.
Oh, my gosh.
Yes.
You have some production inside of like.
the plan of how long to sit in the box and when I had hot did you have a bottle of water?
They were feeding him drinks to like the little like he had a little hole and they were feeding him like
little hors d'oeuvres and so like that and um he was in it all night like we even we were confused
like is he going to come out like what's happening here how is she going to give him a rose like
he sat in that thing all night long. I will say he was dedicated to the box and I loved the commitment
not only, you know, like having him being rolled out and introducing himself in a way to her,
but I loved how they would do, like, his interviews where he's still just sitting in the box.
Like, I'll throw out the night.
I'm like, this guy.
Like, I actually really, really enjoyed the box.
And I will say, I think that's a good way because so often people solely go off of looks.
And so I kind of like that she had to talk to him and get to know him a little bit better before he's like,
hi, surprise, it's James in the giant box.
Um, I like to box.
Aesthetically, he is probably one of the top three or four best looking guys there of like,
you know, traditional great looks.
He's tall.
He's super muscular.
Right.
The eyebrows are, you know, intense.
But, um, but, you know, so I think that, yeah, like if you're going to unbox something like
everyone does on Instagram, you unbox the best looking thing.
Right.
It was worth the way.
Yeah.
It was worth it.
And the guys, when he walked out and they,
like oh shit this is actually the guy in the box you're like oh we're screwed they they knew he was
handsome uh which which i kind of liked because you know you can't get too comfortable in this did anyone
make the joke of dick in a box like i just thought of that i'm sure okay so we talked about your
favorite arrivals whose arrival if they were to do what they did in front of both of you
who would you send home right away who would not get that first impression rose i mean definitely
the RV and I don't know if they set it up that it was really his RV but I'm like really not into
RVs at all especially old ones and um you know and then the fact that he was like eating and stuff
I don't know that wouldn't have done it for me limo entrances you know kind of baseline nothing like
too wild crazy obviously I think this entire premiere actually has been of one of the most tame
I've ever watched like there really wasn't any drama whatsoever except for
that weird conversation
with Cody and Aaron.
Yeah, I was...
What was that?
It was like, Aaron was saying
that he had an issue with Cody
and Cody's like, okay.
He's like, yeah, I'm just,
I never liked you,
I'm not gonna ever like you.
And then he's like, okay.
And then they just walked back
into the cocktail party
and everyone's like,
why is the tension so high?
Like, why do you think you're so pissed?
Do they say they maybe know each other
from before?
It had chew up
because unless something happened
at the cocktail party
that we didn't get to see, which I don't, but there's something there, which is very interesting
to me, because I didn't even get to see that. I was just like, is this guy just trying to make
a name for himself? Is this Aaron guy just like, you know, trying to be outspoken and like have
the cameras follow him, night one? I don't know. It was, I think overall, though she had, it seems
from my end as a viewer, like she had some really great connections, like very, very strong
connections. Like, she had some good, steamy makeout sessions. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Like, it wasn't
That wasn't him.
Her makeup sessions
with some of those guys.
So she made out with the cat
and she made out with the guy
she gave the rose to
who, you know,
I did think was cute.
She did say that guy
reminded her of her ex.
And who were the other makeouts?
Justin, the guy that painted the rose.
Justin.
Oh, yeah.
He's really a great package
in my opinion.
I agree.
I mean, honestly, though,
his artwork was insane.
No, like he's an insane artist,
but doesn't he also have
like some other normal job. So it's like the best of both worlds. And he's cute. And then the other
guy who's trained to be the firefighter from Canada, he's pretty hot. His hair is so tall. How did
these men get so much volume on their hair? Because I saw, I think Brendan is it? He's the he's the
firefighter. He's hot. But then I was like, he's hair. You guys are so funny. It's like the Jimmy Neutron
hair. And yeah. So who else was like really?
yeah it's
it's pretty good so far
I'm trying to think
she was like pretty smitten by a couple of them
what's the cat's name again
Connor
Connor I just loved the fact that
she had his black smeared whiskers
all over her face
I was like okay wait were you guys into that kiss
or were you not into that kiss please tell me
yeah I thought all the kisses were hot
well that one the cat went at first
I was like oh this is cute and then they went in for a second time
And I was like, oh, this is, this is steamy.
This is steamy.
Like, there was one, I mean, it actually might have been Justin where at first I was like,
this is a little bit awkward.
Because she kind of pulled away and then turned around and I'm like, is she into it or
is she not?
Or is she not.
Yeah.
Like, I don't, maybe it was the first, maybe that was her first kiss and she just like had to,
you know, warm up a little bit.
I don't know.
Right.
How many guys did she kiss that night?
Do you know?
Was it just those fruit?
I actually don't remember the exact number.
but she went in for it, which is good. And I encouraged that. Heather, how do you feel?
If you were bachelorette, are you about kissing on the first date or not? Or on the first night?
Yeah, I think, why not? Because I definitely think if it's not a good kiss, it's very hard to get back on track or if someone doesn't taste right or if it's just awkward.
I still would give them a second chance because you can. But if you do have a first really great kiss with someone, that's pretty awesome.
the best bachelor hottest kiss and I can see it in my head and they are still together to this day in the history of the bachelor is jojo and Jordan yes when he came around the corner and nobody knew that he was coming around the corner and he shoved her up against the wall I was like there's nothing oh yeah there's nothing that was a really good a good bachelor bachelor bachelor's wall kiss they're always they're always good they're always good they're always good
always yeah it was really good um okay so i want to talk about gregg right he was the first impression
i was greg quickly because obviously we saw them chat a little bit i found him so sweet he was so
nervous so nervous but when but i loved how he brought something from home and like made a joke about
you know my niece makes this jewelry and it might be too soon to be giving someone jewelry on a first day
and he pulls out this rainbow pasta necklace tisha did you see her
be that into him night one like did you kind of expect who she was going to be giving that first impression
rose too she was definitely like there was something about him that she was intrigued by and i think it's
just like he was really genuine like it didn't seem like he was trying to like put up this like
crazy front and she appreciated that and um you know i saw what no finish finish no i was saying i
saw sparks like night one so but you never know you know what i just thought of that was like
I don't think I've ever seen in a bachelorette is when she is talking to the guy who's a
single dad and she's like, yeah, I would be open to being a mom, you know, to someone who
a child's already here or the guy I meet never wants to have kids.
I'm fine with that too.
And I kind of think that's probably being really honest, but I think it's something we've never seen
because it seems like every bachelor, bachelorette have talked about how they want to have a family.
I've never seen someone that's like I don't know if I even want one I don't know and I wouldn't hold it against my partner if you didn't but to be honest that is something you pretty much better be on the same page about yeah that's a really interesting comment yeah I never noticed that because yeah I think the you know to add on to that most people go on to the show obviously the premise of it is to find a partner and get engaged like so new like that shouldn't be new
to anyone. But yeah, most people, it's always kind of the same. Like, I want to get engaged. I want to get
married. I want to have babies, like very, you know, it's kind of always the same same storyline.
But that's what I like about Katie. Katie. And even we saw it in her opening toast, she just kind
did what she did and said what she wanted. And she's like, I'm not perfect. I don't want you to be
perfect. I'm awkward. But I'm never going to like change who I am or what I feel or what I'm expecting
in this journey. And I don't want you to do either. So just like be open about that.
Right. Yeah, I just, I also love that she said, you know, it kind of felt almost like what I get when I'm, you know, back in days of like auditioning for things where you audition in a big group. And they'd be like, if your name isn't called like, don't be heart broke. Like, you know, like, this isn't the play for you to be in or whatever. But like, this isn't the chorus line you're supposed to be part of. She did kind of say, you know, this is really about marriage and stuff. So like, don't take it to heart.
And I noticed even when she posted one of her first tweets about the upcoming season,
she was like, all of these guys made a lot to me.
The first time I've ever seen someone see this.
Because when you go on these reality shows, especially now versus 10 years ago.
Yeah.
The power of social media, you can be the most confident person in the world.
You can be basically perfect looking.
And someone is going to be like, and did you ever notice that one ear is higher than the other?
I know.
No, I actually never noticed that.
Thanks a lot.
Like, I didn't.
And so it's like, she's, you know, it was kind of like, hey, if she can keep one super fan from maybe holding back the most cruel thing to write to somebody that doesn't deserve it, I thought that showed her character, too.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah, I appreciated what she brought to the table.
It kind of reminded me overall a little bit of map season, because,
obviously when Matt was Bachelor, he had never done the show before. He really had no idea what he was
signing up for. And Katie, in a way, I mean, obviously she was on his season, but she didn't make it
that far. You know, most people make it to hometowns or beyond. And so you, like, they go through
the journey and they kind of know what to expect more. And Katie didn't. So I appreciate that she
knew a little bit enough of how to handle this, but was still like, you know, I haven't done this all
before and so I'm just going to make it my own and that's really what she's doing one thing though that
I feel like they really drove home with her that I feel like she said a lot was um because most people
are like yeah I'm here to find my husband I'm here to fall in love but she's like oh I'm here to get
engaged I know like I know this is going to happen for me I just don't know who it is yet like I felt
like they were really driving that home so now I'm like oh is there like is that the case or is there
going to be a twist. I'm all about like the twists at the end. Oh my gosh. So now I'm very intrigued.
You guys are so funny. It's interesting how you dissect like the wording. Because for me,
I guess being there, it's just in watching it actually play out, each twist and turn in every single
opposite. Like there was, I'm like, is this really happening right now? So it's really fun like being
able to like hear what you guys like kind of like latch on to and what you guys notice. The last time
Katie was on the show was
she was on a one
on one day, but it was actually a two on one
day because his boyfriend Tyler
showed up and they
had to do the massage
and he like was so excited to
massage Tyler and for
Katie's standing there and he's like
hugging him and like he just had
come back from my rock as a prison
out now and I hadn't seen him in so long
and I'm like what is going on here and then
he's like hey Katie I don't think it's going to work out
for us and she's like obviously
look what my competition was
this whole time.
You couldn't focus on me
when you knew your love
of your life was in the other room
being touched by
actor masseuse.
I totally forgot
that was her last date too.
Yeah, that was her last time we saw her
for like besides the
when she was out.
Poor Katie. She should have just been given a
boom that day and like, you know,
like truly, uh,
yeah. That's why I'm glad that
we're seeing more of her and actually getting to know
her a bit.
she was a trooper um okay so overall yeah heather if you had to pick one of these men to give
your first impression rose to who would it be um i think i'd probably either give it to the painter
guy or the other guy the thomas guy for me really okay yeah tasha what about you if you were katy
and not happily engaged who would you give that first impression rose to um
you know i really found i think michael a and her had a really good connection the guy that
gave it the watch oh that michael the one with the sun yes the one that came out yes i love his
entrance out of the limo i thought it was super cute it made me laugh i wasn't expecting that and then
their conversation went really well and i don't know i just liked them can we i want to talk about
two men really quick that we haven't really touched on because i thought that they were incredible and
both of their energy and their vibe was great.
First of all, who was the ball guy?
Was it Trey?
The bald guy.
No, ball.
The ball's in the back of the truck.
Oh, Trey.
Trey.
Okay.
His energy was off the wall.
Like, he's just somebody that I feel like can kick it, get along with anyone.
But, like, he would have been so fun to have night one on any season just to kind of like kick back, relax.
But I feel like he just, like, is lively.
I really, really liked Trey.
Also, Andrew, with the fake accent.
Okay, wait, did you guys like the accent or not?
I liked the accent.
I loved it. I liked it, but at first I was like, wait.
I was like, is he?
Like, was I just, like, drinking too much gin and tonic when he first introduced
to himself, like, at the beginning?
Because then he came in with an accent and, like, what did I miss?
But, yeah, it gave you Bridgeton vibes.
Yes, for sure.
But I thought it kind of made sense because I'm like, oh,
he's playing in Austria
so maybe he was born in England
and then was playing on the
Austrian team in Austria team.
Right.
Oh my gosh. I feel like I could just talk
about all of these men first. It was just
such a fun premiere.
Who would you give your first impression to
Rose to?
I
man, that's a great question.
You know, I would say
I really did like Greg.
I will say that. I liked that. I liked
that he still seemed humble and down to earth.
And I loved that rainbow necklace.
But also,
uh,
the box guy.
Yeah.
Only because he was committed to that.
Also like, the dude had to sit in a box for probably 12 hours.
Like that's dedication.
Commitment.
That is commitment.
Um, would I think he, uh,
be the one for me?
Probably not.
But, you know,
I think there was so much pressure.
Like,
When I was Bachelorette, which was eons ago, I felt like, because I came after Caitlin, Jojo, and Rachel, who all had given their first impression rose to the men that they were engaged with.
So there was such a similar, like this pressure of like, okay, I have to pick the one.
And, you know, I ended up doing that with the guy I got engaged to.
But I think since then, that's kind of gone out the window.
And I think it's more just, you know, whoever you just are attracted to, night one, or like, hit it off with her thing, you know, could potentially.
I think it was the first bachelor that didn't do that.
Did Hannah?
Who did Hannah?
No, she didn't either because she gave it to Luke.
Was it Luke?
She gave it to Luke and then she picked Judd.
She had like two first impression rows, though.
Matt gave his first impression rose to.
Oh, Abigail.
bachelors usually don't.
Yeah, but I actually think it should be who really gave the best first impression,
whether that's going to be the person that might be your life partner or like who really made
the best first impression whether that was a gimmick or a really interesting story that they shared
or maybe they were the ones that like you were walking and you almost fell and he actually
like those are the people that you get the first rose you know yeah i agree okay wait so since
we're picking our picks right now like we have all of our first impression roses given out
now I want us to pick the top four like who do you think can make it to hometowns like I want to see who you guys see going far at this point so Heather and Becca I need your top four because I know a little bit too much so I'm not really going to say I need to know your guys is okay the guy got the first impression rose okay yeah the guy dresses the cat yep okay um there is this other guy that wasn't featured that much in the beginning but I think he'll go far he's um our first uh
one of our first carrot tops.
He's a little ginger.
Oh, Garrett.
He's a little Prince Harryish.
Garrett.
And he's hot.
And then I think the painter.
Yeah.
Justin.
Justin, right.
That's a good pick.
Okay, I agree with some of those.
So I'll for sure say Greg,
the first impression Rose Man.
Okay.
Connor the Catman.
Oh, my gosh.
Then I would say...
Oh, man.
I'm writing these down.
I'm going to hold them to you.
I'm going to say Andrew with the accent.
Okay.
The Mr. Austrian football player.
And then I would also agree on Justin the Painter.
Wow.
Yeah.
And three of those men, she had very see-me-make-out sessions with night one.
Yeah.
I mean, I think those are some good choices.
I can't really give any more comments about that.
to us.
Those are some good ones.
Wait, one thing we have to touch on because it is Katie and on mad season and this season
so far, I mean, from night one, she's just always been so sex positive.
And that's something that the men have talked about.
Like, she's very upfront about her sexuality and intimacy.
And she has said how important it is in a relationship.
So how do we feel about the man that's a virgin?
Because...
Oh, that's right.
Because he hasn't told her yet.
So obviously, she's unaware.
but I'm very interested to see how that's going to play out.
I don't think she would let that be a deal breaker as long as they can kind of have conversations around it.
I wonder if when someone's that sex positive and that comfortable with sexuality,
she might be like, yeah, let me show you my ways, little child.
I'm all for it.
Like, I'm always going to be the best sex you ever had.
Guine up cowboy.
She's a singer too.
Yeah, like, let me, but the one thing that she said that, I thought was kind of funny.
It's another one of those things that caught up is when she was talking to you guys,
the house, and she's like, she goes, I'm very, you know, sex.
I need to be able to talk about sex.
And if someone isn't, that's just not going to work for myself or my family.
With my family.
My family talks about sex.
That's what I thought.
I was like, wait, what kind of family are we getting into here?
No.
She made that very well known on night one.
Like, their family is very open about talking.
about anything and everything. And so I was like, well, yeah, if they're going to be awkward,
then it's not just going to be awkward with you. It's going to be, they can't even go to a family
party, y'all. So she needs a strong one coming out of the gates, okay? I think with the guy who's
a virgin, I think there's one thing to be a virgin and then there's one to be like, you know,
reading the Bible on your off time, which I think is a beautiful thing. But I think that is
something that's very hard to make a relationship work unless you're both really into that. Yeah.
You know, and I, I don't know her religion. We haven't heard about that yet, but that would be something, when you have all these other choices, I don't, I would doubt that my prediction is that relationship doesn't go very far. I mean, it's about compatibility to. Yeah. You do want, you know, the marriages that actually do work are when you have, you know, some similar, not necessarily similar backgrounds, like, you know, ethnically or whatever, but just like how you see your future.
how you are morally, how, you know,
how your point of view on the world is, you know.
Preach, Heather, preach.
Has to be pretty similar.
You don't want to be like figuring that out down the road,
but also like fighting about those like main core values.
It's not.
You don't want to be me basically is what we're saying.
No.
No, I won't it.
I get it.
But I understand I so agree because I was in a relationship like that.
So yeah, it's like you have to like fundamentally with your morals,
your values, how you want to potentially raise children, like all those things.
Unfortunately, in this world, you should sort of have those conversations and be on the same page
about some of these tougher, big subjects that really do divide people.
Yes.
Well, because that's something that's big to you.
And to be honest with you, it might seem really silly to a lot of people, but it's something
that you want to, like, stand by, then it's not silly to talk about.
I'm sorry, but it's just not.
But honestly, Heather, you are more than the average viewer this time around, okay?
And that's because you're actually there on the show and you're going to be hosting a date this week.
I was so excited when this opportunity came up.
I was just thrilled.
But yes, I facilitate a date and I can't say too much, but the guys have to give like a presentation to Katie and you guys are there.
And it was really so fun.
And that's where I got to, so I got to personally meet, I think, maybe 10 of the guys.
And it was amazing, like, how they kind of, like, charmed me even.
Once you got to talk to them and sit next to them and that eye contact and see what they were trying to do, some really shine.
Some already showed some red flag creepiness.
Yes.
And so, yeah, I was, I'm really excited to see it and I'm really excited to see where the season goes, having actually talked to some of these guys and able to talk about it later, you know, what struck me as really appealing about them and like there were some of them being so earnest and some of them just being like naturally talented and some of them that I really had to help come up with something.
And then some that were like trying to be like overly flirting with me.
like relax like i'm not the one okay i'm also love about the two of you guys being the host is one
thing i absolutely love about the bachelorette is the incredible fashions that they wear like especially
with your season i was like writing that guy what's his name carrie carry i'm like what's that
dress and he's like moment i'm like oh fuck i can't afford what's what's it when you had like some
neon thing oh my god you had so many good dresses i was like i was like that would look good on me
that was like kately has such great style so like i love that we're going to see three killer
outfits or more or more than that because you guys have you know several outfits per season
i mean for episode but i love that we're going to see all your great fashions well thank you
that's really fun too yeah i like i mean come on it's the it's one of the best parts about the gig
for me personally. I love shoes. I love clothes and like getting ready every single day is like my
favorite thing to do. But also it wasn't my time. It was Katie's time to shine. So I wear a lot of
sweaters this season. But that being said, I will say, Heather, would you agree with me that this
episode, next week's episode, is very different than anything that we've seen on The Bachelor's. I mean,
I would hope to say that. I mean, I was like, you know, this is, this was pretty fun. It was risque.
it was also had all the humor and it had yeah it had yes so i'm i'm excited i mean i know what
i feel of course i don't know how much they're going to share of me but um it was just it was so
it was so beyond my expectations of like how fun it was and i will say what i realized is i was
like wow this is when you see the bachelor and the bachelorette stress out and freak out it is
because they're dating and falling in love.
Now when I see how it's done,
I'm like, yeah, it's, it's hard.
It's not as rehearsed as everybody thinks it might be.
But it's just, oh, it's hard.
I always love when we have guests on that, you know,
become part of this world and, you know,
witness it firsthand and can share that.
Because it's so easy for us as viewers to be like,
oh, that person's more of like a character and just, you know,
give our opinions and our comments and our judgments.
So I can't wait to see more of you and to see what this date
hasn't, so I truly have no idea yet what anything is in mind. Yeah, it's a very funny one.
And again, like even with these guys, you know, I'm like, hey, I'm a mother of sons.
Like, I, you know, I can poke fun at them, but like I did really like love them kind of like,
you know, an aunt or something because I was like, you could do it, you know, but some of them
would just like, you'll see. I don't know what they're going to show, but some of them
did not do as well as others,
but I still think it was handled with respect.
Even though you and Caitlin were like in the corner crying, laughing.
Right.
Well, Heather, we are so happy that you joined us today,
and I can't wait, as I said, to watch you next week.
But we have to hype you up because you were just such a powerful,
badass woman that we all love and support.
And so besides being, you know, a guest host on a Bachelorette season,
in Bachelor at date. You're also a writer. You are a podcast host, a comedian. So please let all of
our followers know where they can go to find you and check out all that you're doing.
Well, my podcast, Juicy Scoop, will, is in its just beginning at six year. I've been doing it.
It's every Tuesday and Thursday. Of course, we're always in a podcast. I love it. I'll
be covering her in The Bachelor as well, of course, along with reality shows and pop culture and juicy
interviews. And then I'm going back on tour. It's all at Heatherbiddle.com.
I'm going to all the city wineries.
I've got the urban improv as well.
And it's a brand new stand-up material different than you've seen on my special,
which is available on Amazon Prime.
But I also save exclusive juicy scoop stories just for the live shows because they can't be
reported.
It's not on the podcast.
It's not on Patreon.
You have to come over the live show to get the juicy scoop about it.
And so I'm excited.
The dates are all there.
I've got my fall, summer and fall set.
So, yeah.
And then on Mondays, I'll just be watching The Bachelor.
Yay.
Well, Tash and I want to come to one of your shows.
I know.
When are you at the Irvine Improv?
October 1, 2, and 3.
So you're absolutely welcome.
Let me know.
Amazing.
Yes.
I'll hook you up, girl.
Oh, well, for sure.
We'll love it.
Well, thank you so much for joining us.
You are always welcome back on Bachelor Happy Hour anytime.
Thank you.
I've been such a Heather McDonald fan for a while now.
And I fan-crawled a little bit.
I didn't want to.
I love her.
Truly, when I found out she was hosting a date, I was like, you're freaking kidding me.
And she does not disappoint in person.
She is so funny.
I could not stop laughing the whole time.
I can't wait to see what next week has in store.
Oh, my God.
She's everything.
She's so fun.
She was great.
And I know you can't give us too much of what to expect throughout the entire season.
You have to save some of that for the show.
I get it.
But we did see.
a little teaser of what's to come. So can you, since you were there in the flesh,
give us a little teaser of what we can expect, anything you want?
Well, I mean, I know, honestly, I was even shook by the teaser. Just because there's so
much drama that goes down and there's just so many twist and turns, twists and turns. That's
right. But what can I tell you? I mean, yeah, there might be some familiar faces. I don't know
if they stick around, you might just have to watch and see. But you guys, these guys really give
it they're all. And emotions run really high. And Katie is in for a roller coaster, but it's good.
So I can't wait to continue to watch and to continue to recap with you because this has been so
incredibly fun, Tasha. And to all of our Bachelor happy hour listeners, thank you guys for hanging
out with us once again. We're so pumped to have the brand new season. And we're,
And we're so happy to be able to share all of these fabulous men with you.
Next week, we'll be sitting down with the Bachelorette herself.
That is right.
We're going to have Katie on to pick her brain.
And maybe she'll give us a little more behind the scenes and juice and dirt and excitement that, you know, we all love.
We all love to hear that.
So if you guys do have any questions for Katie, please make sure to hit us up on social.
We are at Bachelor Happy Hour on Instagram and at Batch Happy Hour on both Facebook and Twitter.
